1. Deserves best movie - It’s not easy to understand philosophical meanings in the beginning, but after part Everywhere, this movie hit me so hard. This movie made me cry and laugh, then made me rethink about reality where I live in. I will do my best to make my life meaningful and be kind to others.

2. Totally worth the time - It starts a little show, to be sure, but once it gets going, it is a well paced film that will have you on the edge of your seat. I guarantee that those who gave this a bad review simply lacked the patience or intelligence to follow the plot. Those who received their awards deserved it, this was one of the best movies I've seen in some time.

3. How could you not LOVE IT - The mix of real life vs. shenanigans is seriously too close too home or funny to not love this movie and clearly the Academy Awards got it right. Truly, a great film I’ll watch…even pieces of again & over on my because it’s too great to pack away for an occasional night. If you don’t get the many messages in this movie, you might be the problem

4. Definitely not all it's hyped up to be. - I generally love the movies with the alternate universe, mind-bending, look at things from a new perspective type movies... but this one was just WEIRD. It felt like they threw things in just for the shock, sex, or "toilet humor" value and not because it did anything for the story. Depending on who lists the film it's referenced as Sci-Fi or Action Adventure ... and while there are elements of those things in there, it should have been listed more as comedy and I'd probably stomach it more, but it was honestly just really odd and definitely NOT a movie I thought should win oscars - not even close. No thanks.

5. Can’t Believe I Fell For It - I was originally skeptical. Didn’t look great. It swept the Oscars, and I gave it a shot. It was an awful, disjointed, disconcerting mess…….with Hot Dog Fingers and an aging Jamie Lee Curtis’ toes playing the piano. I cannot unsee that.
Don’t do this to yourself.

6. Astoundingly good. - An absolute masterpiece of emotion, connection, family, life, and what it is to be a human being. Funny and heart-wrenching and a visual and creative spectacle. So, so, SO good. If you're someone who left a one-star rating, buddy, that's on you. The film is there, full and amazing, for the taking.

7. Total Non-Sense - I haven’t seen a worse movie in years. TRUST ME. No idea how they have all those star reviews - must be from everyone who had anything to do with its production. I purchased it based on this totally false reviews. I forced myself to watch halfway then I simply could not go further - gave up. I am easy to please on movies but I have no idea why they created this mess. Because this movie win so many awards I tried watching it again …..nope……could not finish it. Stupid. Stupid. Creating a plot that follows the lines of a handgranade is not entertaining - it’s wasted energy.

8. Alot of "stuff" does not a good movie make. - It has it's moments where potential shows up, but usually it's short circuited by uninspiring randomness or unecessary vulgarity disguised as 'brilliant artistic inspiration'. This may please the hyper neurotic brain of many phone app addicts, but a movie about nothing that barely slides by on some cute moments and adrenaline is nothing more than a juvenile fever dream. Putting a bow on it at the end with a generic "family is all you got" theme doesn't make it worth the sex toys and not so subtle insinuations of insult. Hard pass for anyone looking for a family friendly popcorn flick.

1. Don't Be Geeky! - First of all lets get this out of the way.! The character of John Constantine IS Keanu Reeves. Don't insult everyone's intelligence by tell people that TV show comes close to the movie. And he blows the comic book away as well. Let's be real; Batman in the movies is not at all like the comic books. I totally agree with everyone who says it needed a sequel. One of Constantine's final words in the movie was "I have some cleaning up to do around here (the city)". Keanu was better in this movie than he was in the Matrix. So do yourself a favor; just watch it at face value. Then you will enjoy it better.

2. ANOTHER GREAT REEVES FILM - This is a movie you watch over and over again. The comic character played by Reeves is the rare hero that is fighting heaven and hell. The story is tight and the actors right. The fact is that when the role is strange and creative... Keanu can be so great and never over stylized or deviating from his core personality that makes a fictional character almost believable. Excellent classic that is fun to watch.

3. A Pleasant Surprise - First off, Keanu: he takes a lot of flak, but every dog has his day; whether because he just got into it, or he was suited to the role, or for whatever reasons, he does a nice job. Jaded, suspicious, at times subtly funny. And this coming from a guy who only ever liked him in Bill and Ted's and the Matrix. More importantly, the supporting cast: Gabriel is complex and creepy; Constantine's assistants are peculiar and memorable; Weisz is nice. And it hosts possibly my favorite devil of all time: better than Angelheart, better than the Prophecy, better than Mr. Frost. Legend is hard to beat, but we're talking two totally different takes on the devil. (Yes, I like religious fantasies.) The plot: people have said that the plot is rehashed / convoluted / uninteresting. To all that, I say hooey. Honestly, I'm mostly an artsy-fartsy guy, and the artistic aspects of this movie really appeal to me. There are some genuinely original ideas: water being a universal conduit to precipitate journeys between Earth and Hell; demons and angels being forbidden access to Earth, save half-breeds; the concentration on suicides being sentenced to Hell, (something viewers have balked on, but it's a great plot vehicle.) Nice pacing, too. About the comic book: haven't read it. Don't care. Last but not least, the look: beautiful movie; not too heavy handed with the CGI; well integrated at that; nice camera work; interesting angles; colorful as all Hell (pun intended); fairly light on screwy camera and cutting tricks. Really, really pretty film. If you like____, you might like this one: The Prophecy; Dark City; Army of Darkness; Bladerunner; Gattaca; Night Watch (though much better, overall); Dogma; movies that take liberties with religious themes, and generally original movies in the sci-fi and fantasy genres.

4. Great cast, always entertaining... - I love movies, So I might be a little bias. But this one doesn't have a lot of holes in it. I cared about each character and everything made sense. There were three awesome parts and three good pieces of dialogue which makes this a movie that is good enough to watch.
2013-02-24
5. Terrible adaptation…but fun nonetheless - If you're a fan of the Hellblazer comics John Constantine is the star of, then I'm afraid to say that this film is not an accurate adaptation at all. Virtually the only thing the film version of Constantine shares with the comic version is that he's a chain-smoker named John Constantine. Keanu Reeves' version of Constantine is an American, dark-haired demon hunter living in Los Angeles (the original was a blond, British magus in London). There is far too much emphasis on the Catholic doctrine, including the notion that all suicides go to Hell. When I first saw this movie, I hated it. But over time, I've actually come to enjoy it. Yes, it's clear they gave up on even pretending like they were trying to make a faithful adaptation of the comics. But the movie is still good. The visuals are incredible, the supporting cast is top-notch, the action is fun, and even Keanu himself doesn't do half-bad in the role. If you're a fan of the comics and you can manage to turn off that voice inside your head telling you how Constantine should be portrayed, this is a very enjoyable movie. Just keep telling yourself that this isn't an adaptation, it's just a coincidence that he shares a name with everyone's favorite British magus.

6. awful compared to the comic - The Garth Ennis run of Hellblazer was one of the greatest achievments in comic books and this was a shamefully poor adaptation. Constantine is the coolest comic character ever and Keanu has zero personality. A cross shaped gun? what the..! Even the climax was lame compared to the comic, which ruled. Dont bother watching this dud and go read Garth Ennis' "Hellblazer" run and get ready to laugh, be afraid, awed, and cheer for John Constantine.

7. Love IT!! - This movie is phenomenal! I have seen it at least times. Mainly for Keanu....mmmmm... Sorry lol. Great characters excellent script. Very well written. Love this movie. If u don't like religious movies then do your research on a movie BEFORE you watch it to avoid nagging about it later.. More movies please, Keanu!!!

8. Not bad - I admitedly haven't read the graphic novel, but the movie is fairly well done. There were some parts that left a lot to the imagination, and the excessive use of f-bombs (by "angelic beings" and people trying to get into heaven) wasn't exactly to my taste. Good watch if you're bored though.

1. Not as good as the book - While this was enjoyable I was disappointed that so much detail from the book had to be left out. Part of the intrigue of the story is the manner in which Mark thinks through and explains how he is going to survive on Mars. I do not find him as sympathetic a character in the film as he was in the book.
2021-05-09
2. How many ways can you say boring? - This was without a doubt the most boring movie I ever saw. Unless you just love Matt Damon skip this one. It is an exercise in mind blowing slowness and lack of anything happening. The whole movie could have been filmed in half an hour. How it was up for an Oscar is beyond me, but this movie was a great disappointment.
2019-02-26
3. Crappy movie based on a great book... - The book was great, so I had high hopes for the movie. No such luck. First, Matt Damon can't act to save his life. He just can't. Nothing about Damon suggests that he could ever be an astronaut, and he does a poor job with the role. As other reviews have noted, the pace of this movie is also terrible. It's too slow! Finally, given Damon's clear hatred of the military, he has NO right portraying an astronaut. Don't waste your time & money on this movie. Having said that, I would readily fly to Mars just to leave Matt Damon on the surface. Maybe then, he’d stop making crappy movies.

1. A truly epic revenge film. - This film was Brandon Lee’s last movie ever filmed where he died tragically in a filming accident with prop guns. He was on the cusp of being the ’s generation, Dwayne Johnson. He was on a superstar trajectory before his life was cut short. The music of NIN, Stone Temple Pilots, and Violent Femmes compliments the film in a Scorsese like manner. Truly entertaining, memorable lines, and Brandon Lee’s physical and acting performance is believable in every aspect of this character. Some lasting imagery such as the flame lit crow on the ground is stunning. A great movie to watch anytime, but especially coming on a Halloween season. Action abounds. Gone too soon. ’s classic!

1. Don’t waste your time or money - I watched the first minutes. Normally I would I would sit in all bad movies just in case it got better. It was very clear this is one of the worst movies I have seen all year. Just because you can make a sequel it doesn’t mean you should. This movie will be nominated for a razzie award this year.

2. Save the music - These movies weren’t meant to win oscars but they do all have a theme. If you missed it, then you need it the most. Unity is something we’ve needed for decades, centuries… Hans Christian Anderson once said “ where words fail, music speaks”. As a member of Gen X I’ve enjoyed some of the best years of music ever. These movies are about friendship, love and unity through music. Think about live aid, how many people United for a cause and for each other with music? The end of face the music actually made me emotional, because I love music and I remember all the times it brought me and my friends together.

3. half good half awful - Another movie/franchise ruined bc they had to put females in it... would have been okay to put females in it but as usual their characters are poorly writen -and acted. Their daughters ruined the whole movie.... just like they did with ghost busters ... real shame ... plus keanu didn't even play the part -now its like john wick pretending to be Ted
2021-06-14
4. Sorta in the middle - It’s not the worst movie ever but it sure isn’t the best either. As for the Pros - I think Alex Winters really made this movie his own, he picked up the character after all these years without a problem. Also the gals that played the daughters did very well and were likable. Liked some of the returning minor character and some of the callbacks (Station!). Now to the Cons - I felt that Keanu was asleep the whole movie, just flat, it was quite jarring. The depictions of the future felt so different than it was depicted in the first two movies. Hell also felt so different as well. Rufus’s daughter was grating, was hoping being his daughter she would have the same feeling of coolness that George Carlin brought to the roll. Finally that ending... first the “Song” was just not that good, especially compared to the “Song” at the finale of Bogus Journey (God Gave Rock & Roll to You), just didn’t feel that epic. Then the movie just ends, would have liked there to be something to tie it off like a scene with both of them in their families all playing music in the garage (tying it to the first scene in the first Bill & Ted) making it a note this is a personal story about a family coming together, have the camera pan out and to credits.

5. Terrible - Was very disappointed.Storyline was mediocre and the acting was terrible. Love the first two but this doesn’t even come close.I don’t see how this guy % on rotten tomatoes. Was really excited about watching this after reading the reviews. I only watched all of it because I paid for it.

6. Worth it! - I won't claim this was as good as the first film, but it was up there, with more of the feel of the first one, and much better than the second one. (I'm rounding up to stars… Realistically, I'd say ..) Not quite what I would have guessed or expected, but it's a good and satisfying end to the series. It was definitely worth my time and money. (I figured the $ cost to buy right when it came out was still the equivalent or cheaper than watching it in a theater the first time and then buying it when it was released for home video.) Bill & Ted aren't a lot smarter in their older age, but they did a good job making the characters develop a bit more thoughtfulness and introspection with their age and experience. It's nice to see that you don't have to be smart to be a good person and to make a difference. It's also good to see how they handle the conundrum of knowing they're destined to save the world but having no idea how to pull it off, no matter how hard they try. I enjoyed Keanu Reeves' and Alex Winter's performances, as well as the rest of the cast. I like how they worked in Bill & Ted's daughters, Billie and Thea, and Rufus' daughter, Kelly; and those actors gave really good performances. We also see that the future isn't completely sure, perfect, or all-knowing; and the humanity we see there works well in the story. Really good film, and I definitely recommend it if you liked at least the first one. MINOR/PARTIAL SPOILER FOLLOWS After all the hype before this movie was released, about "The Song" that was going to save everything, I was really worried that they were going to try to actually have the song in the movie that supposedly saved everything. I thought that would be a huge mistake, since no actual single song could ever live up to that expectation. They basically did include it, but I was glad that they pointed out that it was never actually about the song itself. (What it WAS all about… I won't spoil, but it's not hard to guess, at least roughly. The fun is in seeing how it all came together.) So that wasn't disappointing, in case you're worried about it like I was.

7. Thanks! - This one was for us! Those who didn't grow up on Bill and Ted may not get it, but for the rest of us this was a real treat. Felt it hard to laugh at the guys, especially with the great movies they have made between the making of this one, but props for bringing everyone back! George Garland would be proud! Evil Bill and Ted were beyond hilarious!
2020-11-22
8. A bit disappointing... - I love Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure!!! I never really watched Bogus Journey, it was a bit too weird for me. I was sooo excited for this movie. So, we went to watch it and...it was funny but I was disappointed. There was something off about this movie, it lacked the charm of the original. First of all, I don’t like all the supernatural stuff they added, it doesn’t fit with Bill and Ted. Then, some of the things were just sorta weird. It’s not all bad though. I liked Billie and Thea. I definitely did laugh in some scenes. So, watch it and judge for yourselves. Overall, some of it was funny, but it was mostly a disappointment. It did feel a bit rushed. They could’ve done so much more. But it didn’t quite feel like Bill and Ted.

1. Great short story overinflated - If you ever wondered why the ideas of the brilliant writer William Gibson had to come to us by way of other storytellers, this movie is a lot of the reason why. Stiff and stilted performances, inappropriate casting decisions and a screenplay that seems to emphasize attitude over coherence... The man writes such great books. His movie, though, was simply not so great.
2015-11-10
2. Don't let the negative reviews fool you! - Don't let the negative reviews fool you, this is a great flick, especially if you are into the sci-fi dystopian future genre. In fact, the Matrix () simply could not have been produced without the existence of Johnny Mnemonic () (or the iphone). There are definitely influences from earlier sci-fi films, most noteably the city-scape of Blade Runner () and the influence of virtual reality in Lawnmower Man (). This movie is absolutely worth watching!
2011-11-05
3. Go read the story... - How bad is this movie? So bad that you will get a better bang for your buck if you buy the book of short stories (Burning Chrome) and read the story and make your own movie in your head. If I could give it less then I would. Really, Gibson's story did not make the leap to the big screen and as some one else has pointed out, it is dated in many ways (although reading the story is less so). Once you have read Johnny Mnemonic, read Burning Chrome. If after that you have not started digging around for Neuromancer, well, watching the movie won't help, but it sure will hurt.

4. Classic Sci-Fi; excellent in its time, didn't age well. - Like lots of early-to-mid 's Sci-Fi, this didn't age well. ( GB? That's it? For a movie that takes place years from now?) But the premise is thought-provoking, and the acting quite good. (One of Keanu's most expressive roles! Of course, that isn't saying much.) This is a classic of 's Sci-Fi; a must-watch for Sci-Fi lovers. It's definitely worth the rental. If you're NOT a Sci-Fi lover, though, it's probably best to avoid it. My star rating is targeted toward Sci-Fi fans. If you're not, make it one star. MAYBE worth this week's special rental, if you mildly like Sci-Fi; maybe not. Once the price goes back up, though; if you're not a big Sci-Fi nut, don't bother with it for more than $..

5. Johnny Mnemonic is a good movie - This movie is terrible, with the horrible acting and godawful s/fx there are few science fiction movies that are worse. Keanu Reeves is a terrible actor, but in this movie he makes Ice-t look good. It is directed by Robert Longo whom is an American painter and I think this is the only movie he ever did, it is not hard to tell why. Yet with all its flaws I love this movie, I am a fan of cyberpunk and this movie is chalk full of it. Also it is written by mr. cyberpunk himself William Gibson (a favorite author of mine), but the reason you should rent this movie is because it has none other that HENRY ROLLINS!!!! need I say more?
2008-11-09
6. To understand what you are watching... - For those that have not read the short story by William Gibson, allow me to fill in some blanks. It is stated that the main character of the story has had some of his memories removed. Because of this, he has lost some of his humanity (if you go with the theory that memories are part of what makes us human). That is portrayed in this movie, and why Keanu's character at times seems "robotic." In this future technology is so pervasive, the human body rejects it. The place people often turn to for help in a capitalist system is the marketplace. It seems incapable of helping. Then we find out why our reluctant hero is involved in the plot in the first place. This, and New Rose Hotel, both illustrate the dark cyberpunk corporate malfeasance that makes the genre intriguing.
2008-08-29
7. A 'classic' fav - I'm really surprised at the other reviews, this was easily my favorite Keanu movie until the first Matrix (though Bill & Ted were pretty close). It is not amazing, but it is a fun and unique story line. Futuristic technology was actually portrayed pretty well for the time in which it was made (d web interface aside), though nowadays I'm sure he'd be smuggling terabytes(petabytes?) of data.
2008-08-24
8. Entertaining Sci-fi - Why is it the only review for this movie is a person whose doesn't like Matrix? Albeit, this isn't a fantastic piece of science fiction BUT it can be enjoyed for what it is. Story is a bit kooky (like the super dolphin) but the pinball version of this movie rocked! Back in the day, people who like Sci-Fi weren't given much of a genre so when something came out that was decent, it was worth watching, which makes this a cult classic in my book.

1. Wakanda Forever is a triumph! - Out of all MCU movies from last year, this one is the best. It’s marvelously directed by Ryan Coogler, and the cast are are fantastic! It had such a hard hand to deal with due to Chadwick’s passing, but they managed to create a beautiful sequel to Black Panther with these characters dealing with the rise of Talokan, and being in a world without King T’Challa. Loved this movie!
2023-03-15
2. Great tribute but okay movie - The movie was not as good as I expected but I do understand why they didn’t recast because it just wouldn’t be the same so that was a good decision not to recast. The movie itself was okay, the story was not the best and iron heart was focused on to much and the Namor’s body build looked more like an average person, aka me but jokes aside he should of bulked up to match the physique of the character. Another thing I like is How they did the mom dirty, had her looking like the save the jorden meme from vine. By the way I would rate this movie stars but I had to give a extra one for Chadwick Boston. R.I.P
2023-02-26
3. Wakanda Forever indeed! - Was it better than it’s predecessor Not Really but that’s for understanding reasons cause it will never be the same without Chadwick Boseman! Could not agree with that more! Though it was a great Tribute to him and King T’Challa! And we did have a compelling Antagonist in Namor and while it’s easy to label as Marvel version of Aqua Man He still has a compelling arc! Wakanda will live on!

4. Cringy, bad acting and and underlying racism against Caucasians - This movie does what most movies in Hollywood are doing these days, which is hiring the actors to hit a politically correct quota instead of hiring good actors. It keeps touching on how bad white people/the police are and gets into a partial history of the Spanish Inquisition, without mentioning the thousands of Mayan human sacrifices. The only reason it gets stars is because the end message is forgiveness :)
2023-02-22
5. Pays Tribute To Chadwick Boseman, But Still Pointless Without Him - “Black Panther : Wakanda Forever” does what it at least can to pay tribute to Chadwick Boseman since he died years before this sequel could be released. That is admittedly the best part of this movie, but unfortunately this sequel just wasn’t the same without Chadwick Boseman, therefore any promises this movie had were clearly broken since the sequel proves pointless without him. Now there’s gonna be another installment coming. In short, I hate “ Black Panther : Wakanda Forever”.

6. Not the same as the first - First and foremost: if fans don’t like the movie to begin with and pre-judge/ make assumptions before watching the movie, then why rent and waste your own minutes and time watching hrs or so?! Like if you don’t like the movie, the don’t rent it and don’t waste your own precious time. If your gonna be a human and have a right to express and critic a movie..then think before you type!! I personally like the movie a lot due to many different factors and reasons. While I liked the music (vocal and instrumental), I’m sure millions of people didn’t care for it. I’m ok with that. I’m a critically honest person but I’m not the type of person that derails or thinks negatively all the time. Think before you share your own thoughts and feelings, over facts and assumptions. Big difference people and it does matter!!
2023-02-20
7. Awesome Sequel ! - With the loss of Chadwick, who cannot be replaced, this cast beautifully delivers an awesome sequel while simultaneously expanding in welcoming another culture and giving it the same reverence given to the Wakandan culture. The two cultures tango well, making this movie a go-see/buy!

8. Communist and racist. - Anti American Fiction where The USA is the bad guy and everyone with so called 'white' skin is just a "colonist" oppressor. It's beyond WOKE TRASH, it's divide and conquer. We not only need to get on our knees and pray, but we need to SPEAK OUT against the half truths and lies this garbage promotes against a free country that allows it to be shown, or even exist. Not to mention God under whom ALL MEN are created equal. Don't fall for their not so subtle lies that prey on the lazy and self serving masses.

1. Unexpectedly Surprised - As soon as I saw this movie I knew I had to watch it. Actually, I mostly wanted to watch it just because Tobey Maguire is one of my favorite actors and I saw he was in it. I wasn’t expecting it to be that good, but it was actually quite funny and touching. It’s now one of my favorite movies.for being a movie, it was actually really good. Like the color in B&W with everything, it was seamless. This is a must-buy. And must-watch. /

2. One of the great stories of all time - What if you could move into a town untouched by the seven deadly sins? A town where every soul was as fresh as the morning dew, and perfection was simlpy taken for granted? First you'd learn that their exposure to the "outside" was strictly and completely limited, for to know history is to know the very things that steal your innocence. When the innocence starts to go, it snowballs into an avalanche of human nature, the stuff of religious sermons. Joy and desire. Guilt and shame. This is the "better world" of our collective memories, always set in someone's childhood, which never really existed, and never can exist. Its awakening to the world we actually live in is beautiful and emotionally moving. Pleasantville is what happens when we try to live in that magical past that we remember, but never really was. Just watch it.
2017-01-19
3. Pleasantville - Don't know whether this is a good movie or not. iTunes and Amazon have a monopoly and thus are overpriced for a single showing of this film. Where have all the video stores gone? Oh, iTunes and amazon blew them away with lower fees before they gained exorbitant market shares. Now they charge around $ a show. Welcome to the new world.

4. One of the Best Films of the Last years! - A film that starts out as a light and cute Hollywood comedy evolves beautifully into a soul-searching examination of human expectations. The "Father Knows Best" world of a a s sitcom begins to unravel when a brother and sister from the late th century are pulled into the TV world and generate real emotions in the characters. This metamorphosis causes the black and white world to slowly turn to color. Those who fear change rise up to confront and squash the threat to their perfect world.
2013-07-09
5. Psychology review - The story tells the audience that if you want to feel emotion you can. You truely aren't limited to just hppiness; people can have different feelings and life is not perfect. From a Psychology point-of-view, the town was able to experience the change and freedom of emotions; and given a audience who doesn't know anything but perfectness; you would be able to change their thought process. Overall this movie does show a strong sense of richeousness in the sense that freedom is attainable by anyone or anything
2012-11-18
6. Decadent - Stylishly impressive, but with a poisonous message of decadence: freedom is equated with license, authenticity with selfishness, happiness with rebellion and self-indulgence. The film attempts to promote the changes to the idyllic town as a liberation, but it is an unwanted liberation. The townspeople were happy and moral before, and become corrupted and destructive after the introduction of modern amorality.
2012-03-23
7. Pleasant from beginning to end. - First time I saw this movie I couldn't get it out of my head. Whenever its on TV my decision is instantly made up on what to watch. If you have never seen this movie consider yourself incomplete. This movie is the perfect blend of comedy and drama that will keep your eyes open until the end...and then you will play it over again. This is absolutely undoubtedly a wise purchase.

8. A Touching, Realistic Portrayl of the Perfect Life - As you watch the movie, you really get a clear glimpse on what society would be like if we were to all live in the perfect world, with the perfect life. It really shows you the reality of how life would truly be. There would be no emotion, sense of knowledge, or sadness. Quite frankly, it would be as boring as you could get. No excitement. Just the same routine day after day. Honestly, it is a great movie, as you really watch it.

1. Critics are like feminists - They are allergic to fun, logic and common sense. Their emotional intelligence is Juuuuust under you average robot and Vulcan. Look, This movie never took itself seriously, it was marketed like pacific rim was, giant robots, killing Godzilla’s relatives. Because testosterone. This movie was like that, Jamie Lannister, kills giant snake demon made of sand, that leonidas of Sparta summoned, after he kills captain barbosa. Because testosterone! This was never getting an academy award, it was never meant to have anything resembling a plot or character development! That wasn’t the point, the point was that Jamie Lannister kills snake demon, just like the point of pacific rim was Jax teller drives giant robot right into Godzilla’s cousins! Which he then nukes! BECAUSE TESTOSTERONE!!! If your like all film critics and are allergic to fun, and have a crippling case of ocd, you’ll hate this movie, but if your like most humans, and have an eq higher than your average Vulcan you’ll love it

2. Not the worst, but... - It’s still bad. The story is pretty much what you’d expect. Nothing terrible, but nothing great. The real problem is the action. There’s a decent amount of it, but somehow none of it is really entertaining. The action is just kind of there. There wasn’t a moment where I ever thought that what I was watching was cool. I bought it for $, because I figured, why not? Well, honestly, I wish I just hadn’t watched it, because now it’s sitting in my digital library and I have to explain why it’s there when any friends see it. It’s kind of an embarrassing movie to have.

3. The worst movie of - God's of Egybt was one of the most disasterous films i have seen all year. This film relies on the terrible cliches like visual effects, monsters fighting on the rooftop of the pyramid. This film dosen't makes sense and the boy from the blue lagoon is in this movie and he is in love with this girl and their relationship is pointless and cheesy for a terrible, terrible film. Don't waste your money on poorly shot action scenes and stupid storylines and plot holes because the trailers tell you what this movie is exactly what you think it is.

4. This time Gerard Butler didn't save the President - This movie was mostly good. Overall, I liked the costume designs of the Gods, as well as their transformations. The fight scenes were mostly okay in terms of action. But the cgi felt fake at times. Even Star Wars, from years ago, probably had better CGI. The CGI dropped the ball % of the time, but only during fast-paced fight scenes. Gods were larger, and sometimes scenery seemed copied and pasted. The dialogue felt kind of cheesy at the beginning, but as the story progressed, the characters grew. The actor who played Thoth is the one that eventually played Black Panther. Boy, did he grow a lot. In this movie, they gave him some fake Egyptian accent. Most of the gods were played by white actors, for some reason. They should have gotten some Middle Eastern actors/actresses to play these roles. The guy from Pirates of the Caribbean and Gerard Butler are not Middle Eastern. Gal Gadot could have made this have less whitewashing.

5. Entertaining - The reviews for this movie always make me laugh. This is one of my favorite movies. I've seen it multiple times. I find it entertaining. A lot of people were angry for many reasons about the casting of this movie, and I can see the point, but at the end of the day this is a guilty pleasure for me and I'll probably watch it again.

6. Egyptian Cosmology done Modern - This movie seems to be universally panned but I liked it. I studied classical archaeology and this movie really gets a lot of the Egyptian mythology and symbolism right. Granted it gets carried away with the superhero like silly costumes and such but I can see why it was attempted so as to appeal to a wider audience. Weighing the soul against the feather of truth, the flying scarabs, Ra s solar barge....spot on, if not done to modern tastes. I understand why it would be confusing and perhaps crazy to those not familiar with the myths, but to me it was great fun.

7. Horrible I mean horrible - One, nobody wants to see Europeans playing Africans. The green screen was so overdone . The acting was such a sub par performance.
. The movie needed a more intense feel as opposed to the silly theatrics
. This movie is comparable to street fighter and mortal kombat The movie got me, it was horrible I rented it and made me even more furious

8. What were they thinking? - The best parts of this movie are the special effects. Fortunately, the low Rotten Tomatoes alerted us to skip this movie but I really wanted to see this thing but if you're looking for a coherent story you should look someplace else. If you're a fan of big special effects you might want it to be entertained by the state of the art effects but there's little else here to be entertained by.

1. Don’t know why so many stars! - This movie was great. Kept my interest throughout. It was such a modern day example of the fight that continues between good and evil. I’m puzzled by the amount of star reviews, makes me wonder if it’s not on purpose due to the nature of the movie. The movie is well worth it.

2. hrs wasted of my life! - I have never written a review but let this be the first and hopefully the last! I feel as if iTunes should do a better job at regulating movies and their pricing. I won’t get into all the semantics of what I thought about the production and the storyline of this movie because it literally would be too much to write. I will say whoever did the costume and digitizing was amazing. Back to iTunes this movie should not be offered for six dollars it would make more sense to offer it at $. or maybe even $. so people don’t feel offended like they were ripped off! I would like one of their executives to watch this and see if they would be willing to spend six dollars the answer probably would be no. they need to regulate customer experience this is what happens when you get too big and forget about customer experience . Don’t get me wrong I know it’s hard to find content because of Covid and movie production but putting something out there just because it’s available doesn’t mean it’s right!
That’s just my two cents for what it matters

1. wha what? - If this had just been a Japanese horror/fantasy starring Keanu Reeves it would have been fine. I felt the Ronin story itself was shoehorned into the plot. Because I enjoyed the visuals. I liked some of the folklore. I even liked a character or two. The story is what kills the whole thing.

2. Values to be remembered today - Excellent casting - including Keanu Reeve who is part Asian and thus the perfect fit for his half-breed role. All the staff is Japanese and for someone who practiced traditional Japanese martial arts for decades, the spirit of Bushido is alive. As to Hollywood special effects, they transport us to a fairy-tale level that please the senses and elevates the spirit. I enjoyed every minute of it, and watched twice already. Highly recommend if you care for the Japanese culture, special effect and a great story about loyalty and courage - values to be remembered in the st century.

3. Dont judge so harsh - Some people hate it and some people seem to really love it. I don't LOVE it but I really, really enjoy it. It has proven on more than a couple occasions that when it is on TV or I have put the film on by choice, I've watched until through the end happily. It is just a great and entertaining film.
2017-05-11
4. I want to love it - The story's a bit on the bland side and a lot of the best moments were in the trailers. If you dig anime themes, I've seen live adaptations of plenty of anime that were done worse than the ideas and themes this tries to accomplish. I personally give it a C I'm not sorry that I bought it but I only watch it once or twice a year.
2017-02-27
5. Wonderful Movie with a Few Flaws - Let’s just start off with this is not a typical American action movie where explosions and fights happen all the time. I suppose you could say it’s more Japanese in style because the movie favors dialogue and periods of silence to build a compelling story, empathy, and tension. It is silly that the fellow with the skeleton tattoo is prominently featured on the poster and such because he has only line in the entire movie. And Keanu Reeves was thrown in there to bring in a larger audience. He does fit the storyline and style very well so it’s not completely out of place. But it does detract from the fact that there wasn’t a “half-breed” in the original story. The Witch was a bit campy at times. But it’s very Japanese to be overly dramatic for a serious character, I think they feel like it emphasizes the role of the character (especially bad ones). My friend didn’t like it, but she’s not as aware of the Japanese love for the dramatic. Other than that, I was enthralled the whole time I watched the movie. It’s well done (albeit with lots of CG for some scenes) and the ending is very moving. I’d give it . stars, but iTunes won’t let me.
2016-01-08
6. Well Done! - Ronin is only one dimensional, because the critics thinking is one dimensional, and they are totally unqualified to comment on something they do not understand. If you have some understanding of Bushido, you most likely will like it. Keanu Reeves gives us a performance that is worthy of Bushido.

7. Excellent Film - For many, it will be hard to grasp the concept of samurai honor. Without understanding the importance, this film will seem like it is filled with pointless suicide. Although a happy ending is one we have come to accept from a western perspective, to the samurai, this was a happy ending. They kept their honor for themselves and their families. For them at that time, there was no greater thing. The film was an accurate portrayal and a lot of fun to watch. If you keep your mind open to a different culture, I'm sure you will enjoy it too.
2015-03-28
8. Beautiful movie - I am so mad at those snooty movie critics. This movie is entertaining, with beautiful sceneries and costumes.
The acting is not that bad, although, it would have been better, if the Japanese actors had acted in their native language.
Yes, we get it, the original movie is better, well original movies, usually are, so yes, we get it...

1. Tried really hard to follow the book but falls short - The movie does a decent-ish job of following the book. It's extremely rushed though so it loses a significant amount of emotion and conflict that the book creates. The ending battle scene still has power but it's sort of bland. Not bad but it isn't high on my list of favorite novel adaptations.
2019-02-19
2. Surprising movie with a mind-blowing message - Unlike many of the disappointed reviewers, I have not read the book. I absolutely loved this movie. Sure, it has a b-level taste at times, but the underlining story and development really caught me by surprise. I went in with low expectations and was blown away. It was really thought provoking.
2019-01-13
3. Second Time Around... - I first saw this movie without knowing the book. I saw it, and everything except the end was kind of boring to me. After reading the book, and re-reading it several times, I though I'd try again. Well, the movie was more enjoyable because of getting to know the characters through the book. It was a pretty good movie, I can see why they couldn't keep true to the movie. Especially now with the political and social environment. Controversy at every turn will make this impossible to keep to the story. It was a good movie for what they could do with it. It seems it was made to introduce the characters, but was also condensed as to not bore the mainstream audience. Mmm. It was ok.

4. The best youth Scifi film ever - This is an intelligent film, with a great story, great direction, great acting, great FX, and great editing. Over the years I have collected some , films. Of these, I rate Ender's Game among the top . It may have been a flop at the box office, but that was because of brain-dead and almost non-existent marketing and a bad trailer.
The key element, as described by Ford's character, is Ender's blend of aggression and compassion. That is ultimately what this movie is about. Again, it is a good movie and worth watching.
2018-01-20
5. Strays from original plot - The graphics are amazing but if you've read the book, you will be dissatisfied. It doesn't go to the real depth of the story and skims over important parts. My family can agree that it was way too hyped up. However, if you enjoy lots of action and strategy, this is a great movie.
2017-05-27
6. If you love the book, you should try to love the film - Regardless of how varied the two stories are, if you love the book and have hopes of seeing either a remake or Speaker for the Dead production, you should find it in your heart (and pocketbook) to rent/buy this movie...I can't stand hearing people whinge about how the movie sucked and they wish they could see it done better when they aren't willing to pay up for this one. Money and the bottom line is the only way any production company is ever going try and either remake Ender's Game or produce a sequel.
2017-05-25
7. Meh - The movie missed out on things that were completely vital to the plot, like the age difference between the cadets, the difference in narration depending on Ender's age, and his relationship with his friends (and Demosthenes & Locke). This movie makes up for it with great CGI, and well planned action scenes.
2016-05-27
8. the movie itself was great! - I loved the movie and I mainly watched it because it had Asa Butterfield and Harrison Ford in it. I had watched the movie before reading the book and it was and still is. But, the adaptation wasn't that great. (BTW! I immediately read the book after!). And just like me those other people who watched and didn't read the must have thought the same thing though. oh well, i love it and downloaded it!

1. As good as it looks, it’s Ok - The trailers and PR — are fantastic. The cast is Great. The idea, excellent. The direction and execution of the actual film, just Ok. There are logical fallacies, missing space, a lack of significant character development. It’s clear the director may have been of fan of Lynch’s Lost Highway and White’s White Lotus … this is a mix of the two, however it doesn’t match the high end quality. The director needs more depth, logic and character analysis.

2. A bit of philosophical horror. - Slow burn, psychological and asks interesting questions about the human condition. Don’t go into this expecting a scare fest, it’s more unsettling than anything - but man, is it fantastic. It’s been weeks since I’ve initially seen it, but I can’t forget about it.
2023-02-14
3. Boring awful experimental art type movie - This film has been marketed as a thriller/horror however it is very slow placed with some of the most unlikeable characters I’ve ever seen in a movie. Even towards the end, the slow place never picks up. Don’t confuse it for a slow burn its more like “boring” burn.

4. More refined than Possessor - Cronenberg’s visual style burst into full bloom in his follow up cinematic debut. The characters are well written and the story will weave and wrap around you until it refuses to let go. It’s certainly worth a watch, and while it may not be for everyone, the commentary layered within it should satisfy all fans of obscure sci-fi movies

1. Love the movie- hate it on Apple - Movie is wonderful. One of the best. But buying it through itunes(Apple) was a horrible mistake. The edited out the swears and it just ruins the mood for the movie. Once again we are controlled by the big box and not letting us have our movies the way they were intended.

2. Perfect si-fi horror - iPhone this is one of the greatest movies of all time. I Horror is beyond awesomeness in the darkness that surrounds the story is incredible. The chest burster scene gave me chills and giving me chills is definitely something worth giving a metal to. Thank God this movie came out.

3. A Classic In Its Own Armor - This is a legendary film! No other film can be made like it. This has some scary parts in it, but it is a landmark in cinematic history. Bolaji Badejo will never be forgotten for his role as the Alien, and the Alien will never be forgotten as one of the first well-known aliens to ever exist. This was probably the earliest technology of aliens in horror movies during this time. I didn’t really like this movie the first time I watched it, but now, thinking back on it, I have learned to appreciate this movie for what it is. This older movie with older technology will never be forgotten, since it is one of the movies that serves as roots to the modern horror we have today.

4. A Complete Cinematic Masterpiece - A movie so well constructed with its appeal of claustrophobia due to the angle of the camera, and intense thrill. It’s a movie that will give you nightmares of the hellish face huggers. This movie has brought Sci-Fi to a new level of amazing. You have Star Wars to compete with, but in horror factor nothing can compare.

5. UNEXPECTEDLY GREAT!!!! - Ridley Scott does the best job on this film. It was released in , or sometime around that year, and it did not look like that at all. It loked like a movie that came out at least in or later. The robot getting his head knocked off looked incredibly real, the alien itself must have taken a lot of time to make look convincing, and trust me it worked. I miss horror like this. This movie is a classic period.

6. "In space, no one can hear you scream" - Ridley Scott's classic horror film about a space crew trapped with a murderous creature is like none that have followed it. The claustrophobic setting of the Nostromo, groundbreaking design of the title alien, gripping performances by Sigourney Weaver, Tom Skerrit, John Hurt and Ian Holm (among others) and a terrifying storyline combine into an unforgettable thrill ride that will creep into your skin.

7. By far, the best movie ever made. - This movie set the stage for iconic movies every where. The artistic sets, mixed with a perfect cast of colorful characters, joined by an amazing lead role staring Sigourney Weaver, left me speechless. Along side all this positivity, stands Ridley Scott and his amazing ability to create a world never seen before. The story told is one you'll never forget and one you'll want to watch over and over. out of .

1. One of the greatest sci-fi movies ever - As the title states, for me, this is one of the most amazing sci-fi movies I’ve ever seen. I’ve never been a fan of space type of sci-fi until this movie came along and oh my lord. It does everything. Visually pleasing, incredible story, makes your brain think the entire time, twists that you can’t see coming. Surprises. Sadness. Happiness. Comic relief. Honestly, this might just be Christopher Nolan’s greatest movie ever.

2. Flat out masterpiece - Personally, Nolan’s movies are game changers but this one really got a hold of me and made me ask myself, how small are we? We are just a simple planet when there’s more to discover out there. Nolan has been a favorite director of mine for awhile now and I hope he continues to create this manipulative astonishing creations

3. Powerful - Great movie, great story, but Hanz delivers what I believe to be his best soundtrack yet. Really drives all emotions of this film. Regret not seeing it in theaters. Rent it, buy it, just watch it. I find movies to be the best when you can watch alone, in the theaters, or with other people that truly pay attention. Definitely a must have

4. Scientific Masterpiece that is Interstellar! - Interstellar is one of the best and most beautiful sci-fi movies ever made!! The actors and absolutely fantastic, and Matthew McConaughey delivers his best performance here! The movie has the best soundtrack out of all of Nolan’s films. The emotional moments here are so well executed!! The VFX here is some of the best in the history of cinema!! The characters, tone, storytelling, and writing are super compelling here. Nolan knocks it out of the park with Interstellar!! Y’all have to see this masterpiece!! It’s one of my Top favorite Nolan films of all time!! /

5. An Absolutely Beautiful Sci-Fi Spectacle - It can be argued that much could have been omitted from its lengthy first act, but it’s overshadowed by awe-inspiring visual effects and its gorgeous imagery, all anchored by Matthew McConaughey’s portrayal of the simple yet enthralling emotional core of the film. This isn’t a perfect film, but its visual achievements and central father-and-child relationship keep it upright. With The Dark Knight, Christopher Nolan had his masterpiece. With The Prestige, he had his most thought-provoking. And with Interstellar, he has his most beautiful.

6. Let's just burn it and pretend it never happened. - Forget the five dimensional tesseract, quantum entangled to a recursive iteration of a girl's bookshelf, and used to send morse code to an old analogue wrist watch - How you can bring that much talent together in one place and so utterly fail, should become the study of importance here. Weak story, poor acting, and the biggest disappointment since the remake of Annie. I guess special effects, a score by Zimmerman and a few science facts stuck on with chewing gum is all it takes to make anything a hit. Anyone who compares this to the works of Stanley Kubrick should be punished.

2. A complete and total ripoff in flashy packaging - The movie looks beautiful, but the story is the same old rehashed story of the poor natives falling to the invasive white man that has been seen over and over again. The movie bashes on how evil corporations are, how ugly technology is, and ends with not only an improbable ending but with the implied genocide of the human race being a positive outcome. In addition to all this, you watch an entire movie where the protagonist's job is to make peace with the natives so they can harvest the mineral they are there for without fighting with them. Instead, he gets it on with a native, forgets about his job, and ends up being responsible for the war at the movie's climax by failing to do his job. Nevermind at the end of it, the MC is directly responsible for a looming energy crisis on Earth that will cause billions of death. This is literally a movie where the villain wins, but because it's told from his point of view, the average viewer is deceived.

3. Really good film - Story wise, it didn’t change the movie and it didn’t need to. I saw this in theaters opening day and it was amazing. I’ll never forget it. The effects were mind blowing and I haven’t seen cgi this good since. if you need every movie to be citizen Kane but different and better like some people you’ll hate this. It’s essentially the seven samurai but there’s more like of them and they only help the villagers after they leave the employ of the bandits. but If you don’t mind that you’ve seen the story before it’ll blow your socks off.

4. All it has going is D - One of the worst stories on screen ever. Watch Ferngully or Pocahontas. Awful acting, and the only reason it did amazing is because it revolutionized D in theaters. 5. Forever changed the filmmaking industry - Avatar absolutely soars with its groundbreaking visual effects in terms of motion capture and computer-generated characters, and introduces a franchise with great characters and an iconic universe. It may not be as strong in its storytelling, but it is clearly intended to be overshadowed by the breathtaking visual achievements. ./

An Ingenious Concept from start to end! - NO SPOILERS: We always suspected we’re were not alone, but to “visit” their Lil’ piece of the planet with greed in mind tells a story we have lived through as a country over the years! The writers & director made a bold statement which will stand forever- We can be not nice, but only if it benefits us! Thank you for am amazing journey and a even more amazing message to us all!! It was aesthetically the most beautifully vibrant movie I’ve seen in a while!! Thank you, again!

7. Stars - Considering this movie was made in , the graphics are amazing. I saw a user commenting that he/she rated it one-star just because it wasn't in K resolution, like come on? Anyhow, the plot of the movie was phenomenal, I enjoyed every second of it, and I have been watching it over and over for about years now. I am so excited for Avatar II to come out, I hope it meets the same expectations as this one.

8. Amazing movie, HD or not. - Just as the title says. Loved it when it came out and I love it now. Also, for those reviewing saying it isn’t worth it to buy because it isn’t HD: look up the actual side to side comparison of SD vs HD. I was like you until I did. It is practically identical. I wouldn’t even say HD better looks- just a slight change in color. Tbh, after discovering that I’ve determined SD actually looks better. Lol, so you can keep paying x the price for content that is nearly identical (and imo actually slightly worse than SD). Meanwhile, I’m going to enjoy cheap AND higher quality content.

1. That. Was. An. Ordeal. - Rivals batman v superman as the worst movie I have ever seen. An utter crapfest of rambling nonsense. It physically hurt to watch this. The "stealth suit" effect came across as incredibly annoying and utterly pointless for reasons which I could spend an hour describing. I kinda liked Rory Cochrane's character. But everyone else can go jump feet first into a wood chipper. This movie hurt my sanity, instead of watching this save your money and have a friend pound on your skull with an iron pipe or a cinder block. You will get pretty much the same effect and degree of entertainment.

2. suffered through the whole thing - I spent this whole movie unable to sympathize with any of the characters - and I tried the whole time through. I was unable to frame their story and experience in any sensible manner. Just some poor dude with family problems now living the dysfunctional, turbulent life of a druggie, betrayed by his friends. The story of the last ten feet to rock bottom. There was a bit of irony in his career, but that wasn't even explained to us. Now, that could just be me. Maybe I'm too slow to pick up on it, and I'd learn more on a second watch. But I couldn't stomach it. My sense is that, if the book was worth reading, that this movie destroyed it. More dissatisfying, even than the tedium suffered throughout the movie, was its conclusion. Clumsy twists made relationships that were supposed to be important seem awkward. And the movie did a poor, hurried, halfhearted job of trying to justify or reconcile these changes. The state of mind of the characters was as frustrating as mysterious, their motives impossible to determine. A bunch of actors struggling to do a great job with this movie, and the composition of it just turned it into a soup sandwich - a bunch of semi-humorous drug references, dosed awkwardly with a bit of seriousness and gravity, then wrapped all up (intentionally, I think, but disastrously) in the confusion of a druggie's life. But that confusion shouldn't have bled over so heavily that it stupifies the audience. Even the visuals were an assault on the eyes... intensified as the movie moved on for effect. At the film's conclusion, the grim fate of our protagonist left me utterly not giving a $@%. Huge let down.

3. PKD would be proud - The smartest movie yet adapted from or inspired by PKD, and the first one to approach his intellectual and philosophical level. Linklater does a fabulous job of blending the brooding melancholy of Dick's novel with stoner slapstick straight out of Slackers. It's the best and most logical use of Rotoscoping ever -- it both eliminates the need for tacky FX and is the perfect visual metaphor for the characters' alienation and disconnection to reality and to one another. Everyone in the cast -- even Keanu and Winona -- is in top form, and Downey and Cochrane are hilarious. Yes it's often gloomy and gets quite sad, but that's part of its power -- and again, that's nicely balanced with the very funny stuff. Except for Bladerunner, all other PKD movies have been dumbed-down insults to him, but I think he would have loved this. I know I did.
2012-05-09
4. An Excellent Film... - Enjoyed the film and every aspect of it. The acting was superb and the use of rotoscope technology worked well for the type of tale it was trying to portray. However, I've read the book and it just doesn't live up to the work that PKD composed. Linklater, I feel, tried to hard to make this more of a dark comedy than the philosophical sci-fi novel that it was. Altough, it is the best film adaptation of any of PKD's work other than Bladerunner. I would recommend this film (as well as the book) of any of Linklater's or Phiip K Dick's work. I also would suggest Waking Life from Linklater. As for PKD's other novels I would suggest: Flow My Tears The Policeman Said, Valis, Ubik and Man in the High Castle. Enjoy

5. Beautiful but empty - The rotoscoping is cutting edge and beautiful in its execution. And it fits the mood of this story quite well. However, the characters come up half baked (no pun intended). It seemed like a stoner's fantasy to me. As if all those conspiracy theories that you dream up while high are actually true. Just seems to get boring and redundant after a while. Seemed contrived, predictable, and stereotypical.

6. Clearly, not darkly enough. - Probably the first and last time we'll see computer rendered video. I found the technique distracting. It also doesn't help when iTunes audio is at half staff. I need to watch it a second time, but honestly I don't give a rip so I won't. Novelty has it's advantages, the kool factor in Scanner Darkly doesn't compel anyone to want to become involved with the authors message. I'd rather see the same cast in a spoof about matrix-iron man-et. al. or maybe not even. Left me wanting.

7. "Unless you're a hardcore fan of Phillip K. Dick...pass on "A Scanner Darkly" - "A Scanner Darkly" is not what I expected from Phillip K. Dick. Usually, his work is mind-bending and full of interesting ideas with sometimes a good twist thrown in there. This film is a straight-up telling of a bunch of guys who are really screwed up by drugs. The animation is different, but thats not to say I liked it--it could be kind of annoying at times. I found nothing innovative about this film, nothing jumped out at me about it. "Blade Runner" and "Total Recall" are sci-fi classics--this is a movie that was made to entertain Dick fanboys and people who read the book it was based off of. If you haven't read the book the story can be fuzzy and the situations presented in this film are nothing we haven't seen before. Unless you're a hardcore fan of Phillip K. Dick's work, you can take a pass on "A Scanner Darkly".

8. Very entertaining - Part conspiracy theory part satire, A Scanner Darkly serves as a very thought provoking modern (animated) masterpiece, while still not seeming pretentious or bitter. Like The Truman Show, it gives us a look inside the power our government posesses should it choose to exhibit it. Five stars, well deserved.

1. Beauty for the soul - I saw this movie in the theaters back when it was new. Brand new. There were two reasons why it was not a huge blockbuster: . Upon seeing the trailer back then, most people made the mistake of automatically going, "Seen it. 'D.A.R.Y.L.', ." . This remarkably hypnotic movie was far, far too deep and emotionally reflective for most (commercially minded) science fiction fans back in . Okay, let me quickly get this out of the way - this movie is absolutely nothing like 'D.A.R.Y.L.'. The two films couldn't be more dissimilar if they tried to be. Without giving away spoilers, let me just say that this scifi fairy tale does indeed have robots in it, but this movie isn't at all about robots or even machinery. Instead, "A.I." is a futuristic fable which shows a far more emotional, much more complicated understanding of childhood than you would ever expect it to. I went in expected to see a scifi movie about a robot and instead was taken for a ride unlike any I have ever quite experienced in a movie before and left the theaters in tears after being treated to one of the most touchingly beautiful happy endings I have ever seen since "Titanic". It was hard for most to believe at the time, but - believe it or not - Stanley Kubrich really did plan this story out exactly as you see here. He had always loved "E.T.", and he had been creating this epic film with the hopes of creating a movie that was every bit as touching and powerful as that earlier classic was (the title was a deliberate homage). And he had created it specifically for his friend Spielberg to direct because he had said that it simply would not have turned out as he had hoped if anyone else had directed it. After it was planned, he had passed away, and Spielberg of course inherited the project to direct precisely as Kubrick had wanted; the only sad thing is that Kubrick himself never got to see the lovely result. He certainly would have been delighted, because this movie became very, very much a follow-up to "E.T.". Spielberg worked long and lovingly to make Kubrick's final motion picture a memorable one. This one is not for thrillseekers. It's not for excitement and action. It has a few "exciting" moments of tension in it, but that's not at all what this film is about. This is a journey for the sort of viewer who enjoys counting stars on quiet hilltops and watching ocean waves dance. This is a film that will be loved by those who enjoy seeing butterflies flit past and classic Walt Disney movies from Walt's day. This is not a crowdpleaser. This is not a science fiction movie. This is an experience. This is a miracle.

2. It is a film I wanted to like but - Spoilers I wanted to like this film the story had such a sad start and the android was so realistic as being the lost, alone, and disgarded distraction that was replacing the original child of the mother. However, it also highlighted a lot of the way this future painted the world as very disassociative with inventions that are created as fully feeling androids. So it was very moving but also very depressing, I wanted to have somehow some place for the android to find a place where he belonged instead of the goal of destroying himself. If anything it made me not want to see this actor again because of the very depressing roles he seems to play, always the victim.

3. Captivating movie - First, if your not a person that is very into deep story lines this is not for you. This movie gives you real pain and real emotions. If you truly watch it, you have to watch it many times to understand it more and more. It's a very complex allegory with many different interpretations. The ending is real and really perplexing. One of the big themes of this movie I believe is "image" in all honesty that being who you are and where you place in the world and even down to what is really "real." This is coming from an average dude. The movie is just that good that I now understand my English class teacher asking for literary synopsis and themes just because the movie triggered me to read a lot to just understand it.

4. The movie that never ends - I expected great things from this movie. The first minutes were great and captivating and then it took a turn for the worst and went crazy and I just wanted it to end. Each time I thought my torture was finally over (I regret not turning it off) it kept going. And when I thought it was finally over it would take a strange turn. Finally over? Nope more minutes. Finally over? Nope more minutes. Finally over? Nope more minutes. My sister who had been watching it with me had gotten up to put her child to bed thinking it was at the end, only to come back minutes later to it still going!

1. Love alien and love Ridly Scott’s work! - I have to question the sanity of any man who would leave a - star review as it would appear it’s not there cup of tea. I think we were blessed if any alien movie came out at this time. And it’s just a great re hash of the others were modern technology boosts the theater involved in making such a nostalgic film come to life! Would love to get another ALIENS GAME like isolation!!! With a multiplayer take on it however. Long live and prosper Ridley Scott

2. Back Tru m- - THIS is what I wanted instead of Prometheus. I HATED Prometheus so much I’ve xcluded it (along with AVP) from the Alien films. Covenant was the most beautifully shot since the original, even the ship had that baroque look it like the ship of the original Alien. The only negative issue I have with Covenant is weak characters. Not much depth or development. Scott gets a pass on this from me anyway bcuz I am so relieved that this was nothing like Prometheus & Scott focused so much on honoring & paying respect the original. The gory special fx were more than decent & there was an atmosphere of dread. While not near as good as the original & Aliens, Covenant held its own very well.

3. Underrated - I couldn't possibly care less about where the Alien came from, but since we're going to get those answers, I gotta say I like how weird this gets. An evil, mad scientist robot played by Miachael Fassbender? Yeah, sure, why not?
It looks amazing, I like the cast a lot, and it's a marked improvement over Prometheus in my book. I wish I could give this . stars, but I'd say it's closer to than to .

4. Loved it. I enjoy the whole franchise. - Those who enjoy the series and look forward to next installment. Keep in mind that no film is perfect. All movies are a distraction for us from our daily grind They are entertainment to get you somewhere else after a long, tough day from work or family. Nit pick this nit pick that. Never able to enjoy because being critical of every scene means your are missing the point hence / stars or zero ratings correlates to how you feel about yourself. Don’t watch the movie or try watching it through new eyes.

5. I enjoyed it - This was a really good film and a worthy sequel to Prometheus and a good prequel to the Original Alien. I also like how Ridley worked in references to Blade Runner and Blade Runner , at least visually, to this film. The ending, whew...I had a feeling Ridley would do something like that since it is sort of what was the intended ending to Alien. I sincerely hope that if the Disney/Fox deal goes through, that this is one of the franchises that will be kept around along with Predator and X-Men.

6. Very Chaotic Story. Not Good. - Make a note of this, everyone, for your kids or grand kids, in case they are chosen for interstellar travel: If you are Billion miles from home, and you find a planet with an atmosphere, and your sensors indicate the air is breathable, pop off your helmet and breath deeply! You'll be fine! You won't get sick! Second, how the hell do the Xenomorphs grow to feet tall in like, a hour period after hatching?
2018-04-23
7. Tell, Tell, Tell - Where "Prometheus" let the viewer think for themselves a little bit, the whole second half of "Covenant" tells, tells, tells. I loved "Alien" and "Aliens," and "Prometheus" was good and I could even stomach III and IV. But this was a movie that played everything safe, and I am someone who wants to think for themselves and doesn't like safety when watching something this philosophical and deep in the imagination. About half way through, this movie lost itself and lost me when it started explaining things.

8. Another film where everyone dies - It has more believable action than Promethius and was definitely full of action and suspense. There was just way more gore for the sole sake of gore and everyone dies at the end. Yes, interesting story about the development of xenomorphs but I'm really glad I rented this. In the end, I thought it was interesting but failed to figure out what the point was.

1. Beautiful production, weak narrative - Although it betrays it’s spatial limitations and veers on inducing claustrophobia at times, Coppola’s ambition to create the film entirely on sets yields some beautiful production designs. He wanted to film black backgrounds and instead focus on ornate costume design and that explains the meticulous attention to wardrobe as well. Unfortunately the story is driven by an unconvincing doomed love story populated with mostly not very compelling characters. The biggest sin is that it isn’t remotely scary. Dracula is flamboyant here but not at all menacing. He’s a tragic romantic in this interpretation which ironically otherwise follows the events of the novel more closely than any other adaptation. But fundamentally changing the character motivation makes the finished product fairly pretentious, devoid of urgency and drenched in overwrought melodrama when it should be desperate and intense. Still the acting is committed and the memorable score goes a long way to create atmosphere. The Annie Lennox song is a good addition as well. There isn’t a two and a half star option so I’ll round it up to three.

2. My LOVE for this movie NEVER DIES - I’ve watched this on DVD, Blu-ray, satellite TV, VHS in & now I own it in digital format. I wish I could’ve seen it when it was first released in theaters, I was only years old at the time :( I really love the production value that was put into this film, minus the portrayal of Harker. Gary Oldman’s Dracula gives me an insight of a man sworn to evil, because his love for a woman has caused him so much pain that he rips any shred of humanity left in him. Also, the haunting composition by Wojciech Kilar is my favorite film score of ALL TIME. I wish the music from the climax of this film was included in the soundtrack. I admire Coppola’s use of original movie tricks for this film

3. I too read the book... - Gary Oldman and Anthony Hopkins...what else do you need to know??? Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder were poor choices as co-stars having to work against two of the finest actors alive. Keanu was too young and unskilled as an actor and the two masters couldn't help but steal every scene. Winona just didn't pass the suspension of credibility test as a young English woman and the chemistry between her and Reeves simply didn't exist from the start. But she did present the script to Coppola so what else could he do?

4. The Best Gothic Romance Horror Film Ever Made - Coppola, Oldman, Ryder, and Hopkins all turn in some of their best work. The costumes, make up, special effects, sets, lighting, atmosphere, and amazing score all make up a one of a kind cinematic experience. Gary Oldman is Dracula, following the book while adding elements of romance and Vlad. This is the BEST version of Dracula ever!!

5. Worthy of the time for me to write a review - I read the original Dracula by Bram Stoker months ago and I was so fascinated by it, especially odd for someone with as short an attention span as me, and finished this novel in just under weeks, reading everyday and night nonstop, it was such a lovely classic, I would certainly read it again. I watched the movie times afterwards in counting because I liked the novel so much and the movie was good as well. The movie did have some spot on resemblance to the book as well as exact lines from the book which was nice to see, and overall it was such a classic tale of romance and suspense and thrilling, my favorite scene around :: when the Count first sees Madam Mina on the town square. Loved it. stars

6. My favorite Drac film - I just love this movie, from the first time I saw it in theaters. In this Dracula is a sweeping edgy romantic tale full of adventure, fantasy, doom and redemption. It is visually lush and grotesque at the same time. I never tire of watching it. The Drac is fluff compared to this retelling. This film is fabulous!

7. Romantic? More like, hot vampire sexy fun time. - I think it’s funny that other reviewers are calling this a romantic movie. This is practically lesbian porn… and I adore it. Vampires, Gary Oldman, Winona Ryder (her ridiculous British accent is tough to get past but if you like Ryder, you can look past it… if you try hard enough.) and Antony Hopkins? This movie really brought out my bisexuality as a teenager. I assure you, I’m not joking. Gary Oldman in that blue suit and those glasses? Swoon.. Winona Ryder in most anything? Swoon. Vampire chicks having sex? Swoon. Lol. I love this movie.

8. Wonderful movie - I remember watching this movie when I was in third grade (I was at the time) and loved watching the movie. Love Gary Oldman and Anthony Hopkins. They are my most favourite actors ever! I thought that Winona Ryder played an excellent Mina. I have also read the book a couple of years ago and I thought most the movie stayed true to the book. The thing about movies is that you make it your own and add/delete to make a good movie. They are like books, you can get in trouble for plagerism. Only way to do anything is when you have permission to use it. Francis Ford Copola added a perfect love story in it which I believe started the vampire romance novels of today (for young adults). I can watch this movie over and over again. I am so buying this movie.

1. Is the original USA dubbed version included? - I prefer to watch this movie as I saw it upon it’s cinema debut back in (’ or ’) with voice actors dubbing the dialog. Can any please state whether or not this purchase will include the American dubbed version, as I won’t enjoy it otherwise. Thanks in advance for anyone’s help!

2. Sold as HD, not even close . . . - This is a classic movie, no doubt. It’s sold on iTunes as HD, however, and the version that plays isn’t even close to HD. Not sure what kind of cameras George Miller used, but the sharpness of what downloads from iTunes isn’t close to anything considered p today.

3. Holds Up incredibly well - Watched this again recently, like many people looking to revisit the original now that the current blockbuster is out, and wow does this thing stand the test of time for what it is. It's interesting how much of this movie is NOT post apoc like I thought I remembered, but more so toward the end. Yet Max is still a great emotionally wounded character who finds himself in the most unfavorable situation there is. Long live Mad Max!

4. Last of the V- Interceptors - This film set the stage for all other post-apocalyptic films to follow. Curiosity got the best of me and I conducted an internet search, “where are they now”. The actor that portrayed the night rider has been MIA for some time, current whereabouts unknown - go figure. George Miller influenced a generation The film was shot on a budget of $,- $, and grossed over $ million worldwide. The first time I saw the film with American voice overs, I thought it was missing something. When I finally saw it with its original Aussie slang and accents it made that much more of an impact. One of my favorites.

5. Entertaining, but not as good as Road Warrior - This is a very cartoonish type 's Dystopian action drama. It has a good storyline, but more is heard in the sequel, The Road Warrior. The movie might be slow, but the last minutes was one hell of a series of chase scenes. If you dislike this one, watch The Road Warrior.
2013-05-13
6. My Favorite In the Series - I'm probably in the minority, taking the original over The Road Warrior, but honestly this is the essential Mad Max film. Mad Max sets the tone for what will be, and it does it in high-style. I would call it the most toned-down "post-apocalyptic" setting of the series (which makes sense, because the world only gets worse in the sequels), but I feel like that makes it the most relatable. It's more Jericho than A Boy and His Dog in this respect. There is a deterioration of the world around Max and lawlessness is rampant, but it isn't to the point where people are fully into "survival mode." I think if I were to write a story in the post-apocalyptic genre, Mad Max would be my template, and not the more traditional "world's gone to hell" depictions found in the sequels.

7. just a simple idea that became a classic..... - where the discription and reviews have got this wrong is that this is not post apocalyptic movie but a glimpse at the final deathrattle of a world and the people in it trying to survive the events to come. This is not a revenge movie alone nor is it just a journey to of a man into emotional hell but a telling look at what honestly whould be a good person driven to extremes by circumstances that noone should have to go though....
having said that this is and will always be a cult classic.....
2010-07-13
8. The Dystopian world of Mad Max... - ...NOT a post-apocalyptic one. The "pock-eclipse" doesn't happen until a time period between Mad Max and The Road Warrior (explained in TRW's opening montage). Other than that, excellent film that gave birth to the particular look of post-apoc genre for decades to come.

1. This is the Director’s Cut - Just for those purists out there who want to know before renting/buying: this version, as of April , is the director’s cut that contains the extra footage during the scenes when Kinney gets killed by ED-, when Murphy gets shot, and when Clarence gets killed, among others.

2. ONE of a kind. - This movie is so good you wonder why there aren’t many other action movies that meet it’s
High mark. I’ll put it another way, let’s compare it with the original Predator movie; ROBCOP A PREDATOR C- If you like this genre and haven’t seen it you are in for a blast from the past!
2019-02-19
3. The ORIGINAL! - Forget that piece of crap re-make... This is where it's at. You cannot simply re-make a Paul Verhoeven film without Paul Verhoeven. This is the original story with all of the grit and classic dialogue. As a piece of art the re-make could never hold a candle to this version. This is the real Robocop.
2014-05-26
4. A Classic! - Robocop is not for everyone. But if you fall into the category of being in two minds about it, here's the know how. Paul Verhoeven himself did not want to direct this movie. His wife forced him to relook at the script. What he discovered was the rich story of a man desperate to survive. There was depth. Before long, it became a reality. Robocop is a gritty movie with loads of violence & gore. It also makes you look at machines a whole new way. I was terrified of ED when I first saw him because he meant business in a bad way. But Robocop offers a rich storyline with clever humor & a hero you will be routing for from the start right to the finish. The visual effects aside from the now dated stop animation still hold up & it’s cast are edgy, unpredictable & great at portraying their roles. Robocop is a science fiction classic and sits up there with the likes of Terminator .

5. Robocop not for sale??? - I love this movie a lot. I saw this to buy for $. on here earlier. What happened? Not enough buyers? But anyway kinda glad I didn't. If I bought it then lost it I woulda been very pied. My advice though is if you buy movies on here save them to a thumb drive as well. But not if theyre a rental cuz iTunes will recognize that it was a rental and will not play it. But I am disappointed this isn't available to buy anymore. Recently Ive even seen other movies I was planning to buy on here have been removed cuz of licensing agreements. So they're not there to buy or rent anymore. But hoping they will come back soon.
2013-11-25
6. Why Can't We Buy? - Any Robocop fans reading this, when a lot of people get angry about not being able to buy a movie, iTunes gets the hint. I really want this in HD to buy. I don't get why iTunes can't offer it. It's more money in their pockets. I would buy this entire trilogy, in HD, if they offered it. I don't get it, does it cost extra money for them to allow us to buy it? Who makes the arbitrary decision to only allow SD renting? And why?
2013-04-26
7. Sanitized Classics Misses the Point - This movie is, to me, a classic, although its political bent is grating to many. However, this version is the heavily-sanitized-for-tv version remixed in the late s, and it omits most of the more gruesome violence, as well as some of the most hilarious and biting social commentary produced out of the fervor of the end of the cold war. Since it is practically propaganda already--that IS its style of storytelling after all--omitting these scenes, and the visceral reaction they are intended to evoke, completely misses the point of spending two hours watching this terrible, horrific commentary on, ironically, what has become our disgusting modern reality in . This is a good movie about horrible things. Its content was modified so you could watch it with grandchildren without explaining what a cocaine addiction is--but really this movie is for adults. Don't buy or rent this one. Get the unrated version if it still exists if you want the movie to make sense, and if you want to hold a mirror to post- Western Society.

8. Seriously iTunes, this is getting annoying.... Review:) - Why can't you put HD on all the Robocop films? Or at least this one? The fact that this film has some very good action sequences and has a large fan base should be enough reasons for you to put this in HD along with Robo and .
And now for the review:
Robocop is all around the ideal action/sci-fi/somewhat black comedy ever made. It has all the proper ingredients of the perfect action movie "apple pie". This apple pie is warm, fresh, and feels like something new. Almost as if the main ingredient (plot) is so original, this could be the standard for Hollywood action films. The visual effects, by s standards are truly amazing, and even for today, as it shows what else is possible in Hollywood without million dollar CGI and Special Effects. The acting is also truly superb, with the best performances being delivered by Weller (especially in the suit) and by Kurtwood Smith, who is easily one of the greatest villains to ever be shown on the silver screen. The writers and director obviously knew how to mix the perfect blend of action with science fiction, sometimes drama, and very, very, very, very dark comedy. Modern action/comedy films are just Shoot/Love/Shoot/Sex/Shoot/Break Up/Shoot to get girl back/Love/The End. Robocop knew how to fit the comedy in at the right time with the action.
Also, the grittiness is practically what made Robocop what it is.
All around, the greatest film of all time, coming from a guy who has seen films of all genres in his life.
See it. Worth the ten bucks, and would be even more worth the bucks for HD. And at least you couldn't have only made Robocop HD only to rent only on the iPad. I bought the iPad and did rent Robocop HD being the fan that I am, and I know others and I'm sure others who have as well.
