1. Tear Jerker - Man. This was a good but tough read at the end. Not in a bad way but a heart pulling way. Mitch is such a great writer. The way he writes makes you feel like you are literally standing with him in the moment. I’ve only cried in two books. One being another Mitch book but now I’ve cried at three books thanks to this one. Unbelievable. Thank you Mitch for this story. And a note to Chika. Thank you for impacting this world. Your legacy and joy live on through us.

2. A beautiful story of love and what makes a family! - Mitch Albom is my favorite author. I’ve read all of his books and each hold a different place in my heart. This story occupies the largest portion. In this book, Mitch allows you to embark on a very personal journey of loving a child that not only changed his life, but also anyone who reads this book. Grab a box of tissues, you’ll need them!

3. Another heartfelt, endearing and captivating story from Mitch Albom - I’ve read every book he’s written and this is the most beautifully written story that captures an extraordinary, remarkable and enchanting little girl who’s personality grabs your heartstrings and holds on forever. A precious reminder of how fleeting life is and how important it is to savor the moment and make time to share your love and experienceswith those you love before all else. Nothing is more important than the connections and bonds we have here while on our journey in this life. Seeing the world through a child’s eyes is certainly the greatest gift of all and those who know just how blessed they are to have that experience are the ones whose lives are lived best. God Bless Janine and Mitch and especially their beautiful little Chika. Thank you for reminding me again how beautiful life is and how important it is to love and allow ourselves to be loved

1. Absolutely infuriating, disgraceful racism perpetrated by whites for greed selfish gain - I knew prior to embarking upon this true crime terrorization and obliteration of innocent, kind and gross systemic racism and xenophobic violence and slaughtering of an entire population of the indigenous communities tribes and clans all over the country of which the European white colonists were so terrifyingly brutal, psychotic and done out of greed, selfishness and the need to remain powerful in a confused state of insecurity, fear, ignorance and sadly those vile traits and actions weren’t shameful enough for all the generations thereafter didn’t find themselves haunted by the transgressions and homicidal marauding their ancestors did out of selfishness, pride, ignorance and deep seeded superiority over anyone who didn’t conform to their values beliefs or cultural norms and traditional social structures. Worse off were those whose appearance was startling opposite, not having any sort of similarity but more differences in their appearance, body structure, language, culture, lifestyle and social norms. The ignorance of the whites who came to a heavily populated and very heavily established landmass that wasn’t in need of discovering, having been born from ancestors who’d existed in their traditional land locations, where they held their prayers and offerings and held gatherings within their own tribe and with those who lived in the surrounding villages. It was clear these tribes didn’t have any violent, hostile or vengeful intentions nor emotions towards their neighboring tribes, they knew only to fear the WHITE man who was only sort who’d come to their land and created any dissension, manipulation or violently threatened, attacked and murdered their extraordinarily healthy, happy and extremely peaceful peoples who’d populated their own territories some in figures. Knowing that a fraction of these hearty tribes were left when the their murderers and violent perpetrators were done slaughtering them after they’d run them from all their possessions, the lands and natural resources that they not only depended upon to live but where they also had deep and intimate bonds with so many areas within their territories where they practiced their religion of loving their Mother Earth and nature and all the abundance of bounty it has given sacrifices over time for their ancestors and present populations. They had a deep abiding faith respect and compassion for the natures finest most wondrous natural beauty in all the astonishing and truly mystical and mystifying ways of nature and the skies, the weather, the galaxies and seasons and had learned with admirable and incomparable intelligence and precision how to recognize the seasons, the weather turns, the natural conditions on water, land, thr temperaments in nearly all sentient life and could successfully and quite exemplary adapt their ways of life to adapt best to the ways of the natural environment and conditions in their environment at the time of year. They were once referred to as “the happiest people on Earth” by missionaries who’d been to testify to them about their own religious beliefs and practices but didn’t use any calculating, manipulative or life changing traumatic experiences or aggression against them either. This part of history makes me so enraged, so humble and I feel I haven’t even taken action to make my life meaningful and try to make some reparations on behalf of my ancestors and the government as a whole as this is yet still a population that’s underprivileged, underfunded oppressed and are targeted in the country’s systemic racism in their society, their institutions and overall lack of compassion or respect STILL to this day.
However, to hear these hateful and I’m certain they were paled down versions of the ugliness of the human race specifically the whites in their racist micro aggressions and macro aggression and exclusion that’s obnoxiously ignorant and is still being touted as a general and societal norm of perspective and HUMAN DECENCY towards all yet in this country when they speak of respect and opportunity and compassion they mean towards whites. Nowhere in their television, movies or even a portion of writers are changing the narrative and social climate by taking ACTION and to rage against thE MACHINE. Osage community and tribe has far more grace, human dignity and integrity than I’d ever imagine having let alone find the power to rise above a lifelong struggle of poverty oppression and discrimination. I’d not be nearly as composed, kind or humble. I’d love to be able to learn more from their culture and beliefs but I’m certain that every one of them are extremely weary of the white man and stranger outside of their reservations. They’ve always had the right to be left alone to love and live and learn and laugh their own ways and be at peace, content and feel. Deep sense of belonging and safety and security wherever they are on this planet yet it’s been proven Year after year for several thousands of years that the first few thousand years they were here alone they thrived, evolved and adapted. They’d figured the secret to being happy in this life and on this earth. That was traumaticallly torn and destroyed from their lives and their customs and since then, they’ve never been able to live in their natural state of being, practicing and living in their natural cultural heritage states and prevented in many areas from praying and having ceremonial rituals and community activities in the places they’d once known for thousands of years. Their loss is immense, it’s vast and expansive. It will leave a lasting impression and destabilizing impact in their communities and populations. Possibly forever. We should be ashamed of ourselves and take example and lead from these people who’ve known all along the way to live, to exist authentically peacefully and naturally as human beings

2. Grann is an incredible researcher - If you have enjoyed David Grann’s other works of historical non-fiction you will love Killers of the Flower moon as well. Again Grann starts with a story almost too incredible to be true, and uncovers more mysteries that remain unsolved to this day. Where Grann shines is in his meticulous and dogged research of the subject matter, as a reader you always feel like you’re watching a mystery being unraveled. Well worth a read before Martin Scorcese adapts it for AppleTV with an incredible cast.

3. A history telling masterpiece - I had been meaning to read this book for quite some time. I am shocked that this isn’t something that is taught in schools. I live in Osage county and graduated from a school not far. We were never taught about the Reign of Terror. The generational trauma that this dark period of US history has caused is unfathomable. I struggle to understand how man can be so cruel. And not just few cruel people, but MANY. Many of whom were never brought to justice and carried out a normal life stealing and murdering Osages. Read this book. It’s eye-opening, chilling, and thought-provoking.

4. Native Americans - It was fascinating, though so so sad, to get a sliver of understanding of how much the Native Indians suffered at the hand of white men. Their land was stolen, they were killed by the thousands, their heritage erased, their wealth plundered. For those who know little about this proud people, this book will hopefully raise your awareness and perhaps give you an insight as to just how long and how strongly prejudice has been rooted in our country. Recent events confirm that racism is still very much alive here. All of us need to work towards a fair treatment of all men. It is up to us!

5. Killers of the flower moon - As a lifelong Oklahoman, I'm just learning more of our dark history through this very detailed account. Having travelled these parts in the book, the author very skillfully described the setting. His effort to describe the culture made the story meaningful and vivid. It is a gripping tale yet hard to read and uncover the evil intent of men due to greed.

6. Great Book! A Page Turner. - I wasn’t planning to read this book, but after it continuously appeared in my recommendations, I gave in and bought it. The result was that I couldn’t put it down. I definitely walked away from this book having learned a great deal about something that I never knew about before.
2020-04-14
7. A must read - I am simply dumbfounded that I had not ever heard of this horrific mass murder of the Osage Indians before now. This book should be required reading in high schools. I would suggest to any reader to take some notes as you are reading to assist in keeping the families straight in your mind. I have already purchased an additional copy to share with my son, who I am certain will share with others.

8. Fast and Fascinating Read - Killers of the Flower Moon got my attention when I saw it on the NYC bestsellers list. It's a page turning true story that would make a great movie. The book is an eye opening history of this country's mistreatment of Native Americans. It made me angry and sad knowing that our mistreatment has not ceased since our arrival on their land. I've been researching Native Americans history for the past years for a novel I'm writing. In all my research, this was the first information I read about the plight of the Osage Indians as well as the forming of the FBI. Loved this book and plan to buy several copies to give as gifts. If I could rate this book with stars, it wouldn't be a high enough rating. Thank you David Grann for this historical masterpiece.

1. This book was amazing! - This book has the best advice of putting you first and how to get your control back within a relationship! It revitalizes your sense of self and how you can gain respect back by simply cutting more access. I love it and it is a take it or leave it back and I guarantee this works if applied in daily life.

2. It was fun - It’s a great book to read if you are looking for a honest perspective on how men feel about dating. You don’t have to agree with everything but it was entertaining and fun to read. What I learned from the book is to not stress about men and instead focus on having a good time. As long as you are having fun, smiling, laughing and enjoying life a great guy will eventually come your way.
2022-10-08
3. Not Really Empowering - Clearly most of the women reading this are women who feel like they could get advice in dating better, but this book really makes these women feel insecure and mocked… she should have geared towards empowering women instead of sticking with “boys will be boys” toxic mindset, and instead demean common “flaws” women may share.
2022-10-05
4. Great book - I was reading this book at the lowest point of my life, after that I started picking it up every time I was questioning my worth. I am not a reader so it took me over month to finish this book. As a nice girl trying to have better relationships and better relationship with myself, this book has helped me get different perception.
2022-08-18
5. Couldn’t get through it - This book infuriated me. I read up through pages and just couldn’t do it anymore. I get some of the points behind what the author is saying, but it honestly just sounds like a book of someone telling you to not be yourself. Instead of telling you how to feel confident, they’re basically just saying fake it til you make it or your man won’t fall in love with you. There were some valid points but most of it was just poorly written advice on how to play games to trap your man into falling in love. Ladies, just be yourself. This book isn’t going to do anything for your confidence, which is probably why you’re reading it.

6. A book every woman should read! - I love how practical and clear this book is! Sometimes as women, we allow our emotions to disarm us in moments we need to be armed and on point and we do it out of love… for the other person. This book is an excellent nudge in the right state of mind. Highly recommend.
2021-12-11
7. SO GOOD! - This is a truly powerful book and it is all too real and accurate on how men think. But simply reading this book and reading the experiences of other women will connect with you instantly and remind you how real these things are because they DO happen. Do yourself a service and READ THIS TODAY.
2021-11-05
8. Great and easy read - I personally really liked and enjoyed reading this book. I learned new insights and ideas, which have helped shift some of my long held views and beliefs. Some things I had to take with a grain of salt and the book doesn’t contain a magic formula but overall I find it is “believable”, helpful, and applicable.
2021-07-22
9. Néw attitude - A lot of who I was, was the nice girl. And I am still kind at my core, but this books helps with understanding the way men think and learning when and how to give as opposed to giving up front. It teaches you how to vet men, keep your confidence (and sanity), and maintain his interest should you deem him worthy
2021-07-11
10. Amazing book - This book installed so much confidence within myself with the past days. I now know exactly what i’m worthy of and i know how i deserve to be treated. All women need to read this book relationship or not. the level of self respect you need to learn still applies to platonic relationships.

1. Detailed research - As a reader I found this book a quick read, interesting and more than a little scary. As a nurse I was horrified that this menace was let loose to murder again and again and the corporate heads of hospitals were more concerned with themselves than saving patients lives. Although we do not really get into the motivation of Charles Cullen, that is not because the author didn't thoroughly research the details he could write about.
2013-05-07
2. The Good Nurse - By boysmumas As a Certified Nurse Practitioner of years, I find this story so shocking. It's hard to comprehend that a nurse in my medical field could be guilty of such horrendous acts. I can remember working - hours in CCU to save one patient, then going home and worrying about what I could have done better. This guy was a monster and should not be called a nurse.
2013-05-06
3. A fascinating read - This is a book that, and I say this fully aware of it's cliche potential, I simply could not put down. A true story illuminating a frightening psychotic killer and the tireless investigation of the corrupt actions of hospitals who are supposed to be in the business of protecting us and saving our lives. As my old family doctor once told me, "whatever you do stay out of hospitals." This book should help make things safer for us all.

1. Mixed bag, bit judgmental - I enjoyed some of the insights this book offers but it’s clear the authors have an easier time relating to people with an anxious attachment style, than they are with avoidantly attached people. The writing’s on the wall in the very first example. The latter group tend to get cast as villains while it’s abundantly reinforced that the needs of the former group are valid. It also promotes people to “just” find a partner who’s secure. Several of the examples of “effective communication”, especially the one the book closes with are borderline manipulative. I learned stuff from this book, but unfortunately can’t recommend it.
2023-02-09
2. Dishonest - For sure people address relationships in either an acceptance, anxious, or avoidance style, that is rather obvious. What the authors dance around is that likely % of the anxious people are female, and % of the avoidant people are male(homosexuals excepted). The authors do a politically correct tap dance around the elephant in the room and as such, the value of the book is degraded by their dishonesty. As one avoidant straight male, the most sought after females for a satisfying relationship are avoidant females, AKA Friends with Benefits; unfortunately avoidant females tend to be Lesbians for the most part. Another subject not covered in the book.
2023-01-20
3. Informing and interesting - It was really detailed on how to go about changing certain situations and explaining the meaning behind different problems faced in anxious-avoidant relationships, while giving insight on how secure people act in relationships, how they have mastered it. He really hit the nail on the head. Recommend!
2021-08-23
4. Loved it - I recently broke up with my girlfriend and didn't understand why some of the tatics I used hurt her. I thought jealousy was part of the game. I was very upset if she didn't return my texts or calls right away when she was hanging with her friends. I thought this was a normal reaction. Then I found this book and read it in a week. It has not only helped me with my romantic life but also with relationships with friends and family. I'll probably re-read this several times over.

5. Clear & Practical - I have read various relationship books, but most of them never descend from their theoretical and/or academic narratives to a level that provides advice which can be easily applied day to day. Attached, on the other hand, not only lays out information in a concise and clear manner, but outlines various strategies for navigating interpersonal relationships effectively given your attachment style. While I did not agree necessarily all assertions put forth by the authors, I found the content of Attached to be largely sound, and I have applied much of the advise therein with success. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn more about different emotional dispositions and how those affect relationship dynamics.
2020-10-18
6. Life Changing - This book should be a mandatory read for kids. It would save them unnecessary heartache and time. I only wish I read this book much sooner in my life. It took meeting a secure man and losing him due to my anxious attachment style to have a friend introduce me to this book. Life changing! I’m excited to start dating again and put these new-found principles into practice!
2020-04-20
7. It all makes sense now - As a man who is and has been in several serious relationships that were great, but also had their hardships this book has given me insight into what was really going on. Moving forward with fresh eyes now and I would like to thank everyone involved with the book for all the knowledge and work that and went into the making of it.
2019-03-03
8. Spot-on - Reading this was like reading about my own life. It’s good to have a little background information about attachment psychology, but the authors do a great job of providing clear and realistic examples. Eye-opening and necessary to fix problematic relationship behavior and understand yourself more deeply.
2018-11-27
9. Attached - This book made me realize why I have such a hard time being in a relationship. I'm the rare anxious/avoidant attachment style. It's impossible to to want someone in my life at the same time not wanting to feel smothered by too much attention. I'm working with a therapist who is a specialist in trauma and uses the Internal Family Systems therapy.
2017-10-25
10. Eye opening - Currently nursing a broken heart and sorting through all kinds of emotions. A friend recommended that I read this book to better understand myself and also my ex. It was a great read and forced me to hold a mirror to myself. Also made me hopeful that in the future, I can not only work on myself in a relationship but I can pick a partner and weed out incompatible ones more quickly.
2017-09-11
11. Very Eye Opening - I very much enjoyed this book and learned so much about myself and the significance of staying true to yourself. A lot of these relationship books can make you feel like there's something wrong with you and most issues in your romantic relationships are your fault. Looking forward to applying what I've learned and meeting the right person.
2017-01-31
12. Break up cycle - If you are stuck in an on again off again this will help you get out of the anxious/avoidant trap. Reading other case studies was so awaking. I now know to find someone who can meet my needs and it really is "it's not you its me"!!!! Don't beat yourself up when the relationship doesn't work.
2015-06-18
13. Described my relationship perfectly - I'm anxious and my wife is avoidant. The examples and descriptions in this book were % accurate around how I feel and very accurate around what I perceive my wife is feeling. If she reads this book I think we can repair our marriage and bring back the happy days we had in the first couple of years. I feel that early on we both managed to care for each other's emotional well being but as life stresses added up (baby, money, move to another state, college, etc) we started to fall back on our natural dispositions and things have spiraled down in the vicious cycle that anxious-avoidant relationships have. Thank you for clearly expressing this theory. In my opinion it is spot on.
2014-02-12
14. Great book - I found this book is very interesting. There are combinations from theoretical part of psychology and examples based on real people made this book attractive and easy understandable for whom not so good in the area. Enjoy if you are interesting in human behaviors and curious how to improve your relationship.
2012-02-23
15. Breakthrough and mind blowing read - This book is not only well written, well documented and based in science and research, but it is easy to read and totally illuminating. I will never look at relationships the same way again, and you can be sure the next time I give advice to a heartbroken girlfriend, it will be backed with this mind blowing work. Phenomenal. A must read for everyone in or wanting to be in a relationship.
2012-02-07
16. Better Understanding - After you read this book you will have a better understanding on the different personalities out there and how to best manage or avoid them. Too often we beat ourselves over the head trying to figure out why others don't think and react as we do, when in fact, once we have a better understanding of their emotional makeup we can better manage our own. Win, Win!
2011-12-02
17. Very insightful! - This was a great resource for unearthing the reasons why I am the way I am, and a way for me to better understand why my boyfriend is the way he is! Without this book breaking it down for me, I would be left confused and bewildered. Thank you to the authors for researching this very important aspect of relationships and delivering it to the world with real-life case studies and patient testimonies.

1. Great Book, version errors - This book is priceless for life advice. Understanding how to interact with people, primarily, but also understanding what others might be up to, as well. My rating is low because it would appear that no one proofed this eBook before putting it on the iBook store. It doesn't affect the read too badly but it is slightly offensive to charge $ for a version that wasn't very professionally proofed.

1. A very jaded set of interviews, of previous Slaves who lived into their dotage!! - Needed more context and the language was difficult to read…but a / seemingly black comfort/hate of slavery! However, many slaves could not be interviewed because they truly did die young of some untoward cause. And, certainly, any slaves who were truly bothered by the Ku klux Klan are dead! 1. Very good advice on relationships - I enjoyed reading this book and learning about the various love languages. It offers a very simplistic and easy to follow approach on how to better understand your partner and take acctionable steps to improve your love life. I highly recommend this book to everyone, whether you are in a great healthy relationship or in a tumultuous relationship you will find the advice in this book useful

2. A MUST READ ! - HANDS DOWN one of the best books I’ve ever read, I’m not much of a book person, I usually have to force myself to read something. But I finished this book the same day I purchased it ! It’s so engaging and helpful, I go back to this book often just for a refresher and I feel like I learn something new each time. LOVE LOVE LOVE
2022-09-18
3. Great Read - This book was amazing. I thought and understood what my love languages were until i read this book and it told me about myself. I truly understood for myself, and my future side the things that we need to do to make this work. It’s a commitment, and you never stop communicating with your spouse.
2022-06-29
4. A must read! - If you’re contemplating….. read it! If you’re feeling drained and nothing else has worked…. Read!! If you are newly married…. Read it !! Key to a happy marriage even if you are the only one who is putting in the effort . It will create reciprocation and create a new climate in your marriage

5. A worth read. - My husband and I don’t have problems in my marriage. I stem from parents that did, though. I have been highly worried since we got married that I would fall into the divorce category. He is the love of my life and I would do anything to keep it that way and educate myself on how he receives his love. Interesting read. Taught me a lot about myself, how to communicate, and how to uplift my husband.
2020-03-05
6. No, and here’s why! - This book that I read was absolutely horrendous, The usage of language to describe love is an utter shock and stupidity summed up in one book. The difference between all languages are the styles but not the emotions persevered in this book, this has indeed upset me because I was exited and intrigued by a book like this, I hope that everyone understands the fact that love languages are every languages it is not the accent you say it in it is the words you speak with, saying the same words in a different way will never help you but improving you’re vocabulary to their standards and usage of good words will get you to a point where you will be happy.

7. A Must Read If You Want to Be A Better Spouse - I was recommended this book by a friend, now my counselor. My spouse has mentioned it numerous times trying to reach me, and I paid it no attention. How I wish I had listened, I was almost literally reading my failures with each example of the languages. I’ve shed tears and apologized from the bottom of my heart numerous times. I’ve put the lessons into use and I believe there are signs this storm I am battling is beginning to subside and the sun is coming out. Love is a choice, it takes effort and thought; saying I love you is important...but living it through these lessons might just save the one thing you love the most.
2019-10-04
8. A second chance at true love - My girlfriend and I fought constantly for two months and she literally told me that she was going to leave me, but that same day, her sister-in-law told her not to and that we needed to read this book. This book saved my relationship and has made both of us happier. I’ll be forever grateful of the lessons I learned from this book.
2019-04-10
9. Giving for simplicity - Very simple concept, yet we all seem to miss it. Useful help in finding your SO’s love language and giving ideas as to how to approach different stages/issues in your marriage. The fact that this book seems to default more to, is to make couples realize your initial stages of “falling in love” are not permanent and that marriages take work. The sooner we all learn to accept that and work on it, the better. I believe the author makes really good and get across points as to this. Would recommend this book and it’s lovingly approach to give first as ask second.

1. Extreme imprecision and over simplification - This translation is what I might recommend to those less educated or capable of grasping the ideas from the more involved translations. Aurelius himself (within the first few pages) talks of the pride he takes in being precise with his words. To me, the extreme simplification in translation is contrary to his sentiments on language and the use of it. Be more ambitious, and get as close to the original text as possible, for falling short of this is a great disservice to yourself. If it is too sophisticated for you to read the other translations, try harder.

1. Incredibly thorough - Since I live less than an hour’s drive from where these murders took place, we were barraged by news on a daily & sometimes hourly, basis on our local newscasts. Beginning with the st murder, all of the ABT coverage just didn’t seem to be relevant to this murder, yet it was touted over & over again. That disappeared quickly once Mike & Cynthia McClelland were killed. This book was completely riveting. I barely put it down for almost days. This may have been the best, most comprehensive true crime book I’ve ever read. Kathryn Casey is definitely an author I will read again.

2. In Plain Sight by Katherine Casey - This book is riveting! I usually read about a book a day, but I haven’t been able to read for almost a year. This is the first book that I couldn’t put down until I finished it. I loved it! She’s not the best writer that I’ve ever read, but I had no problem at all finishing the book in good fashion & with great enjoyment! I hope that you enjoy it too!

1. United Church of Christ AllChurchRead - ”The persistence and brutality of American poverty can be disheartening, leaving us cynical about solutions. But as Scott and Patrice will tell you, a good home can serve as the sturdiest of footholds. When people have a place to live, they become better parents, workers, and citizens.” This book, which is one I will eventually own I hope, is a knockout punch to those who say housing is plentiful in the US. When a majority of us are one paycheck from being on the street, Matthew Desmond gives example of people who actually got evicted from their homes and gives us backstory and what happened when the last thing they wanted or needed was to lose whatever sense of roots they had. As a retired person; as a former shelter worker, a social worker, and a justice advocate I am glad the United Church of Christ has made this an AllChurchRead in hopes that the dialogue it provokes will challenge us to walk our talk just a little better. Highly Recommended /

2. Incredibly insightful view into the life of the evicted and those at risk of getting evicted - Matthew Desmond taught me more about the daily struggles and life experiences of the urban poor than I thought possible. Although I was skeptical at first that he was able to capture so much dialogue and dramatic events in their lives, I changed my mind after reading the epilogue and all of Desmond’s notes in the back of the book. He makes a strong case for a solution at the end, but leaves the full details of how to implement for another time or another book. Lots of cursing and a little “too much information” about the personal issues of people on the margins, if that kind of thing bothers you as a reader. I take him at his word that these families willingly let him into their lives, because I would feel like we were invading their world, otherwise.

3. This book says it all - This book popped up in my iPhone feed as one of the best books of . I chose to purchase this one out of the other on the list because I have experienced eviction, and I wanted to see for myself what issues would be touched upon in the different stories within the book. As it turns out, this book is filled with nothing but % accuracy in regards to the causes and effects of eviction. It correlates the greed of the real estate industry today with the lack of respect for housing as a general Human basic need in the most effective way. I applaud Matthew Desmond not only for writing this book, but more so for taking the time to become one with the less fortunates of society and getting down to the real deal of what's really happening today. Absolutely a great read!

1. Meandering, a must miss - There’s a good true crime/courtroom story here..... but it’s hidden amongst meandering, irrelevant stories. Rather than focus on the only interesting thing to happen during the author’s eight years in Savannah (the murder and trial) the book is a trying exercise in irrelevant character portrayals and social gatherings, none of which have any interest in the true crime story. I think this is what happen when a lifestyle writer takes a shot at courtroom drama. Miss. Skip this altogether, baffled as to the buzz and it’s years on the NYT Bestseller list. Maybe the movie is better....
2019-02-12
2. Maybe I just don't get it... - This is a nice enough, tongue in cheek account of savannah and her special weird characters that is somewhat entertaining. But I really fail to see the great literary acclaim this book earned - it is in the end a disjointed, jumbled up book consisting of separate stories thrown together and held loosely together by the murder trial.

1. Excellent Book but Videos are Black - This is such a great book with detailed information about the SR/ right from the MFG. The visuals and examples are excellent and a very easy way to review procedures, settings etc. The only issue I have is that the videos are black. I don’t have any pop up blockers or anything like others have mentioned so once they are fixed, stars.

2. Great but no videos (yet) - Great content but videos don't work on my iPad. I've queried Cirrus and we will see if they respond soon. When trying to troubleshoot the video problem, I noticed a more recent release of the same ebook. I'm a bit confused by this; I presumed my version would be updated when necessary but maybe I'm mistaken. Not sure what the differences are or if I purchased the wrong one. :

3. Great User Experience and Great Content! - The great content is no surprise. Much of it is already available through the publications and online courses available from Cirrus, BUT this works offline, with all the multimedia content. It will be used every month to stay sharp. Congratulations to the Cirrus team. Well done! Keep it up!

4. Great book - UPDATE: It turns out that using a Safari Ad blocker Blocker causes the videos to not play.
Just an FYI if you find the iBook not being able to play any videos. I sent a help request to Cirrus from the link in the book. The videos won’t play for me. I’m using an iPad Air . Maybe it’s just me, as I have not read others having this problem, but obviously I can’t give it a good rating considering the multimedia aspect of the iBook.

5. Well done and worth the money - Another quality product coming out of Cirrus. It only makes sense that they would transform pilot education and training the way they have transformed General Aviation. Clean, clear, concise and fun to use. Whether you are learning to fly a Cirrus airplane or have been a cirrus pilot for years this FOM is perfect for learning and refreshing your operational knowledge. Great example of what an iBook should be, contain and deliver.

6. Freaking Amazing!!! - This is by far the best iBook I've ever seen and most definitely the best training package (regardless of topic) I've ever used. Apple should feature this in their commercials as exactly what the iBook platform was really destined to be. Whomever designed and put this together should have their salary doubled!! I wish they'd build PPL and Instrument courses in this exact same manner and format. I'd pay double what I gave Sporty's for their iPad training app. The graphics, the videos, the organization of information. Just wow...

1. It’s a beautiful story of Love in every sense of the word - This book comes at a time when I needed it. At times intense so take breaks, but full of truth about love as it relates to relationships with family , friends and ourselves . Bell talks about how we hinder , desire, sabotage and long in love. Bell supports some of her theories with references from other authors . Great read !

2. Heart warming and heart needed - For years this book has been on my “to read list” and finally I did. I’m so glad that I did. So much good stuff. I charge you to not only read this, but allow each page and word to read you as well. At least that is what this book did for me. It read me and comforted me. Pray and always ask the Lord for more understanding with each word you digest. Be well. Read well. Blessings Always

1. Best crime book ever written? - I have read “In Cold Blood” twice. First, in the early seventies, when I could not put it down and read it in one sitting and now in . It has lost none of its punch. Capote’s portrayal of western Kansas in the fifties and his objective look into the motives (or lack thereof) of the murderers is captivating. I believe it is the best crime book ever written.

2. Great Book and Fairly Appealing - In Cold Blood should be a starred novel. When reading through a book, I tend to slowly read what is interesting to me. This book has had me read at a crawling pace multiple times to understand the content in detail. In Cold Blood has made me remember why reading books can be sometimes interesting. It also makes me want to read more of the book to see what happens. Once I got to the middle, the book took a turn and made me feel like these guys are kind of ‘average Joes’ that wanted to do something different. At the end, I felt somewhat sympathetic for them; I wanted to do more for proper justice. The book purposefully does not want to reach every audience that exists, but it can be read by nearly anyone interested in reading nonfiction novels.

3. My grandmother grew up and went to school with this family. - It's interesting to hear her talk about them as her friends and then read an outsiders views on the tragedy. Grandma tells me about them as she knew them and this gives me another view of how someone who didn't know them sees it. Great book.

4. Agony and ecstasy - The movie CAPOTE drew me to this excellent read. The portrayal of the ability of people to kill other people, whether criminals or the state, was masterfully conveyed, EXCEPT FOR THE E-VERSION WHICH REPEATED PAGES!!! I DO NOT KNOW HOW EACH SECTION ENDED!!! This includes the very end of the book.....not good enough, guys...

5. Decent book, rather over flourished, though. - I thought this was a good book, it did much explanation and nary a detail was not written down. The only complaints I have is that one, the sentences were extremely long, and you can very easily "drift away" due to this. The sentences could have been much shorter and to the point, and still conveyed the same message. My next compliant is not with the book, itself, but with the producers of this ecopy. The last four or five pages of every part were missing. You would turn the page and they just wouldn't appear. So more of a software issue than an "author's issue."

1. Best book ever written about black people - The miseducation of the negro has a contemporary relevance that any conscious black person will appreciate and possibly apply to their everyday lives in a way that will change their thinking and actions in a positive way. Every black child NEEDS to read this book.
2019-10-20
2. Insightful but Discriminatory - From the outset the Preface bestowed the book’s internal intentions on not broadsiding or critically attacking any person or class. But upon conclusion of this book, the alienation and angry viewpoints (although passionate) were strongly geared towards one race, thereby was fully comprehensible. To the good end, the wide arrangements of vocabulary tied in with expressional usage were most enlightening. Education can handsomely add and extends to any human beings character, but your love as to respect for God and your fellow man defines who you are as a person. To which the interpretation of this book offers an reopening of painful wounds that’s apparently hasn’t completely healed. Revisiting our past can be insightful if we’re able to separate then from now. But to the contrary, it can consume and choke our righteous being if we can’t.

1. Better relationship advice from a Mad Men - For a modern relationship this book is misogynistic garbage. There are a FEW decent tidbits in here, specifically the intro and some portions on listening and communication. Queue eyes roll at the comparison that “men are like rubber bands” & “women are like waves” If you’re a reader with modern views on gender and the balance of a relationship find another book. If you like the idea that men can essentially do whatever they want with no repercussions and women are soft, emotional beings meant to just deal with a mans ego at the expense of her own mental health, then this read is for you.

2. Still Worth It After Two Decades - I read most of this book when it first came out in , and as of early , a lot of its wisdom is still valid. For the last years, I have enjoyed many conversations with men and women about this book. I read several of the reviews in iBooks, and I really had a few good laughs at the reviewers who gave the book one or two stars and parroted cliches like "stereotypes" or "not factual" or "not scientific," etc. Maybe some people will agree with these negative shibboleths, but this book is helpful and offers some good suggestions for couples (married or dating) to get along better. It's not a panacea, but worth the read. I'm not going to give a thorough review, I just recommend you buy the book at this affordable price. Start reading it, and see what YOU think. Too many folks today have to have an "expert" to give them permission to read something. Use your own common sense, and sort out the ideas that have staying power. Any book can be criticized, but none is perfect, save One. If you dismiss this book, you'll miss an opportunity to learn a few things about opposite sex relationships. Finally, I'm not politically correct saying this, but you may have a few ideas who some of the negative critics are. Some people just don't like same sex couples to get along and even be happy. I don't agree with everything the book says, but that is rather trite. Enjoy.

3. Fiction - From Mr. Gray’s doctorate to the final paragraph, this book is fiction. I had to read this for a Sociology course on “Marriage & the Family” to fulfill a requirement and, as an older student, I felt awful for the younger people, especially females in the class. I felt it insulted them, consistently. If a woman were what John Gray says she is, there would be no women doctors, nurses, lawyers, effective administrators, teachers etc. This book is misogyny masquerading as medicine.
2014-03-11
4. Stereotypes - I liked this book for the first or three pages and then realized that it really was just a bunch of stereotypes about men and women. I had to read the book for a class ( couldn’t tell you which one) and it was just very hard to keep reading. I remember throwing it against a wall a few times and I believe after I finished with it I burned it. Can’t say it’s a good read.

5. Fantastic! A definite keeper! - This book is amazing. The depth of emotional analysis for men and women is really fascinating, and entirely correct. It is truly a gem and I only wish I had read this in my young twenties. However, now being thirty, and five years out from a divorce, I feel like I can truly appreciate what went wrong in that relationship. This book explained my entire relationship problems to a tee. On a positive note, this book has provided me a user's guide to navigate my own emotions, reactions and life while in a relationship. I have already started using the love letter suggestion, even though at first I was resistant to the idea. I was amazed at the immediate relief and healing I felt at a nagging issue that happened recently while dating. I would like to continue using a journal to express myself when past emotions arise out of nowhere, especially when I just can't seem to understand when I'm sad at a time when I should be happy. It has given me hope that maybe a relationship is a possibility with me in the future. As a woman, I felt John Gray's analysis was right on. If I am ever to get beyond the dating phase into a loving relationship, I would like to share this with my future partner. I definitely plan on rereading the book and using it as a reference when I encounter problems with the opposite sex. I am hoping that I can really understand where my partner is coming from, but just as importantly have him understand me too.

6. The interpretation we all need - My career is interpreting. Everyday, I help people with a need to communicate by bridging a linguistic gap. For year I have been searching for an interpreter, I didn't know I needed, to bridge this linguistic gap I didn't realize existed. Thank you for the Rosetta stone I needed.
2011-07-25
7. Stereotypes abound, offers no real solutions - I am a man in a troubled long-term relationship. My female partner is reluctant to talk about her feelings, is upset when I don't offer tangible solutions to her problems, never says i love you and squirms at my attempts to be romantic and carve out time to do coupley things. According to this book, this is utterly impossible that we even exist. The roles should be reversed on every issue i stated above apparently. Alas, I find myself in a complex relationship and know many other couples who are in them too. This book assumes that men hate talking about their feelings, that women are naturally subservient to men and will back down on an issue to placate their man, and that women often feel unappreciated for things they do while men really do not. For some, this generic view of male/female relationships may be of some value. For us, two people with complex personalities, backgrounds, egos and feelings, this 'one-size-fits-all' of a book was a waste of time.

8. Improve your understanding of the opposite sex - John Gray provides essential advice for any relationship in this book. His book provides great insight and understanding of the opposite sex. His metaphors and examples are simple enough for anyone to remember and apply to their life. I recommend Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus to anyone interested in a more fulfilling relationship with the opposite sex.
2010-06-09
9. The definitive book on understanding relationships - This book isn't a prescription for how to fix a relationship - but it does provide valuable insight into how men and women look at relationship dynamics. And with that insight - you can better navigate the waters of the relationship ocean. Although she (he) never gave you an operator's manual this comes as close to as what you'll ever need.

1. lovely book of life, living and hope - just read it to my yr old, who said, “my friend has this book, and the mole likes cake and the horse can fly” and we read it as a family and learned a dear friend has cancer, and tomorrow I will read it to a leadership team of hundreds of hospice leaders… perhaps they will have cake! Thank You!

2. Gentle and Meaningful - My dad gave me this book when I was and I never got to reading it until a few years ago. I love this book, and i hold it close to my heart. This book is very meaningful, and is written in a way that feels very gentle. It has depth, but is portrayed through simple and delicate illustrations with smudges and twirls. This book changed my outlook on life, and I always will be grateful for my father’s gift to me. I recommend this book for all ages, for anyone really. It’s such a sweet and impactful book for anyone and sheds light of things we may have felt alone in feeling. I love this book, and i bring my hardcover everywhere i go. I love reading it to kids and even my friends sometimes, and they all always love it. The pictures are incredibly sweet to, and the illustrator is obviously very talented, and of course the writer who creates a philosophical and yet so simple book for all ages that warms hearts. I want to be lowered into my coffin with this book in my hands to be honest, and i love it dearly.

3. The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse - Absolutely beautiful and heartwarming. I received the book from my friend after I suffered a horrible loss. There isn’t much anyone can say to make you feel better in these moments. This book and its story were so touching it brought tears to my eyes. It said all that could not be said.

4. Perfect gift... love it!!!! - First... this book is beautiful. Second... a touching timeless story that everyone will enjoy. I gave this book to my son for his rd birthday. In the book I wrote quotes and thoughts, wonderful portions of the story reminded me of his childhood. This is a great book to give to a child during these unusual times. It can become a familiar place for them to come draw, write, ponder their thoughts. This story will make you think as a parent and as a child about fear, friendship, inspiration, happiness, gratitude and love. Even for myself, many of the lessons were perfect for a time when we are quarantined and living through uncertainty. It is my new gift for future parents. DM

5. Beautiful - This book truly connects with people of all ages. I grabbed it at the bookstore and my year old son said his teacher introduced him to it and there was a most beautiful page in there at nighttime and they’re all flying together. I opened it up and within minutes was tearing up. Beautiful.

1. A great tool for the th Century soul - At a time when many of us, products of the th Century, are trying to make sense of our lives, this book comes at the perfect time. In his descriptions of major trials within historical figures from Adam, Moses and Augustine to Dwight Eisenhower, Johnny Unitis and Joe Namath, David Brooks helps us to reconcile the antagonistic, or at least disparate, forces within us in our attempts to understand and make sense of our lives. I highly recommend this to anyone wanting to explore his or her own nature and how to fit in to the huge, hurly burly drama of human life. It will be with me as a reference for some time to come.

2. Steeped in religion - I bought this book looking for sound guidance/philosophy on improving personal character. Instead what I got was something that reads more like a sermon. It started with the Adam /Adam referrences which narrowly attempt to describe types of character within all of us. Brooks really lost me when he began referring to character flaws as “sins”. I do not subscribe to the widely accepted and deeply flawed idea that you need religion in order to have a moral compass. The book seems like a sneaky indoctrination attempt. That being said, I agree with the author on some points… namely that there is a disturbing prevalent attitude of self congratulatory narcissism in our society, and not enough humility. Ultimately a dissapointing read…don’t waste your money.

3. Get closer - In "Just Mercy," civil rights attorney Bryan Stevenson explains: "You can't understand the important things from a distance...You have to get close." "The Road to Character" feels as though it were written from a great distance. While the characters' storylines encapsulate the virtues of importance to Brooks, I was left wondering why the book was written now - of what relevance is this to Brooks? There were also some unbearably insulting passages about today's generation's values. And nostalgia for condoms sold behind the counter while cigarrettes up front? countless lives were saved by this change.

1. Was Ok. - I simply didn’t like the way it was organized. It jumped around too much between people and events and I had difficulty keeping track of everyone and their backstory. The author was obviously very knowledgeable and completed a substantial amount of research and investigation, but in my opinion, the product on the page didn’t work well for me.

1. Truly a Fantastic Book! - For some, just looking at the title of the book might make you infer that this is yet another book that just gives you a different perspective on appealing to women, but I promise you this is anything but that. Yes, he does give advice on that matter but it is not as important as the main factor - focusing on improving your own self! I highly recommend this book for all guys, no matter if you have never dated someone, or if you haved dated quite a few!

2. Perfect book for those with social anxiety - This is the first book review I have ever written. I feel compelled to express how deeply helpful this book was for someone who suffered from self-esteem issues, anxiety issues, and possessing a total lack of confidence like myself. I’m a male, am tall, fit, and am very attractive for my whole life. I went through years of high school and college, even being in a frat, without having sex. To this day I am still a virgin. After reading Models, I feel confident and reassured that there is hope for someone like me. This book has helped me shatter all the pre-concocted ideas about myself that had followed me my whole life. I feel reborn!

3. This review will polarize you! - I like how the author keeps the ideas simple on how to pick up. No cheesy lines, openers, or other types of theory, just simple instructions and ideas. What I really like about this book is how it focuses more on you and how you should prioritize yourself over women and game. Some of the stuff he mentioned really "hit home" for me and made me think of what I have to do first. Overall it is a great informative book that I highly recommend reading for both pick-up and self improvement.

1. Very Comprehensive - The author has explored his subject with numerous sources and writes extremely well. In order to tell the story of the Irish gangs, he also tells a large part of the history of the other American gangs as they were all tangled together at most times in our country's history. Although it doesn't really fit into the story of the Irish gangs, English claims JFK was killed by the Italian mob. He doesn't do anything to support the claim though. To me it seems like the mob may have wanted to kill him but didn't get around to it before Oswald. Mob conspiracy theories are not the most logical explanation. That makes this reader wonder if all other "facts" in this book are absolutely true. It is unfortunate that the book came out just a short time before Whitey Bolger was apprehended. It would have wrapped up the whole story. Not at all the author's fault, of course.

1. Unmatched guidance - You will not find a better book for dating…. and defining quality, healthy relationship boundaries. This book teaches women how to relate from strength and purpose, rather than fear and need. It’s a brilliant, funny, incisive and witty book, ahead of its time. If more women could read, assimilate and follow Sherry Argov’s gems of wisdom, healthier relationships would be forged, abusive relationships would be prevented or dropped, and a new generation of healthy children and youth would be raised, having observed healthy and solid relationship boundaries. Thank you for writing this masterpiece!
