1. Love the author, not the book - This one just didn’t do it for me. I’ve read everything HC has ever written, and with this book it felt like the exact same formula that was applied to many of his past books, only with some different names and plot changes. Someone is supposed to be dead, but there is reason to believe they aren’t. Someone goes on the lam. There’s a new forbidden-ish romance budding. Enter an uber rich but emotionally unstable family. Same thing, different day. I guess I was just hoping for more this time. I’ll stick with him because I’m a loyal Harlen fan, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed for something less vanilla and less predictable with the next book.

1. DEEPLY MELANCHOLY NOVEL OF A FRACTURED FAMILY - If I had had a better idea of how this sad book would unfold I never would have started it. As a person who has struggled for decades with suicidal depression, I didn’t need to read about these women’s circumscribed lives, capacity for self-deception, and willingness to inflict harm on their daughters, not to mention husbands and lover. Suffocating.

2. A Great Book Club Pick! - This book will rip your heart out before slowly putting it back together and developing into a heartwarming story. A well told story that highlights many issues including childhood neglect/ abandonment, trauma, and depression and the dangers of not getting help for them. This book highlights the ups and downs of William’s life and how his childhood experiences shaped his adulthood. William felt he was never recognized as a child until boys on the basketball court invited him to play. His parents didn’t pay much attention to him, due to his parents grieving about his sister’s death. Therefore, William knew he had to create the life he wanted on his own. Thanks to advice he was given early on about basketball, he was able to be successful in high school, where he was awarded a scholarship to play for Northwestern University. William found support in his college girlfriend Julia, who supported him along with her family throughout college. William and Julia ended up getting married. William’s life is consumed with basketball, teaching, grad-school, his wife and a new baby, but will this be enough? Is this the life that makes him happy? This book will have you turning the pages to find out. I loved how even though the book was focused on William, the author chose to have each chapter from a different perspective, including William. Each chapter that was not from the perspective of William was from a person who was important to William, such as his wife, daughter, sister-in-law, on their perspectives and how he affected their lives. This author does a good job of capturing the struggles and grief of the characters! This book is not for the light-hearted as it dives into heavy-hitting topics. Even though this book will leave you feeling satisfied in the end, it’s one of those stories that leaves a lasting impression! Perfect for those who are fans of Elizabeth Strout and Elizabeth Berg as this book reminds me a lot of books written by them. A great book club pick as well as this will lead to many interesting discussions.

1. First Stars - I’ve never given any of the thousands of books I’ve read five stars. Mostly because there could have been a little tweak here or there. An ending not as strong, characters too complex, unnecessary story lines, etc. This book was just right! From the first page to the last it was all just right. Loved it!!

2. Guy says READ THIS BOOK - Best Read in years! Since my wife was worried I might find it “too girly” - it seems important to also note that I am a guy. I hope this review may help more women get the men in their life to give this one a go! It has been ages since a novel so instantly grabbed my attention and and so continuously kept me engaged. A great story of love, loss, perseverance, family, and the power of being true to yourself and to others wrapped in a layer of humor that makes it such an easy read. The writing is intelligent, witty, thoughtful, and emotionally engaging from the first page to the last. You immediately fall in love with the protagonists and despise the villains in just the right measure.
Never too sappy or too mean spirited.
My only critique is that it went too fast leaving me sated by the story but sad that it had to end.

3. Every woman should read this book! - I simply could not stop reading this book. I even read the part at the back where she thanks people. Because I just didn’t want to put it down. Her sense of humor and irony, and some of the silliness and all of the clarity. It is just so well written, and I’ve never met a book like it. It defies categorizing. it’s realistic and down to earth, and yet magical at the same time.

4. Self Lessons - I’m not a person who blindly follows the pack when choosing what to read. But I’m glad I picked up Lessons after so many reviews and an insanely long hold line at the library. Garmus drew me into the story with quirky characters living in familiar, yet unfamiliar ways. Their struggles seemed all too familiar today; women not being taken seriously for being intelligent and fiercely loving. The unfamiliar was made less so by the gently pithy descriptions of rowing and chemistry. Like the women in Elizabeth Zott’s audience, I began to feel those strange things were within my grasp. Then Garmus somehow manages to tie all those desperate pieces and people together in a most satisfying way. Thank you! I’ve recommended Lessons in Chemistry to all my friends.

5. Beautifully Written - Lessons in Chemistry really outdid itself. I was not expecting this book to blow my mind away - but I’m fact it did. It was written so thoughtfully by someone who’s smarter than smart - there was not a boring page or line in this novel. I also loved the relentless advocacy for equal rights for women.

6. really good - i liked this book a lot and how the main character was a girl, the us cover isn’t that great though, considering the ant said they hate books about women having pink covers and the u.s release has a pink cover. when i bought it in print i ordered a uk print because the cover just looks better in general

7. Made my top book list of all time - As I explained to a friend, this is a story about a woman standing up for herself, and those she loves, trying to do right in the world and right the world in the process. It made me laugh out loud. Its truth made me cry. Perhaps it will resonate with those who know beyond a shadow of a doubt that one should never underestimate a woman.
2023-03-01
8. A bit silly - I’ve never met a chemist who speaks the way Elizabeth speaks. There was just so many eye rolling moments. As a woman in science the sexism, racism, and elitism is not so avert. It’s systemic and quiet. It’s a cute story and love the ending and plot but it’s drowning in unnecessary words.
2023-02-20
9. It’s never just Chemistry - The writing is straight forward . It immediately plunged me into the story. I was never weary or tempted to skim over a character or an explanation. I am certainly no scientist but, found every word to be the frustrating truth of the world I grew up in. Good karma and new adventure to a great writer!

1. Bittersweet Story - I’m grateful for this book. My father was an abusive alcoholic from the time I was eight years old until I was fifteen. My mother never divorced him and never had the slightest interest in other men. The only man in her life was my dad and she loved him through the horrible years. Thankfully my dad gave up alcohol cold turkey, about six months before my mother decided to let him move back in with us. Then my dad was truly never took a sip of alcohol again. My parents remained married for over years total, until my mother passed away twelve days after being diagnosed with Ovarian cancer. My dad was heartbroken. He came to live with my husband and me until he died in his sleep three years later. I know their relationship had a lasting impression on me. I never forgot the bad times. Yet in the end, he was a good father to me. This book spoke to me in a personal way. My life with them was bittersweet and it had a major impact on my life, as an only child. Life is full of mixed blessings. It’s how we handle all of them that ultimately matters. I’m much stronger than I once was. My life is finally as close to perfect as it can be. Thank you for reading my review of “It Ends With Us” and I wish you all the best!

2. Interesting… - I flew through this book, it had me hooked and I lobbed most of the characters… however I’m simply not a Hoover fan, I always hear about how good her books are, and although I like the Storys her writing style just isn’t my favorite. In the end I would still recommend this book to others, but it’s not in my top

3. I loved this. - When I say I don’t read books, I mean it. I’ve spent the last years of my life hating reading and hating books. This is the second book in two days of Colleen’s that I have finished. I’ve always felt so dumb and felt l wasn’t smart enough to read. That I was stupid because I couldn’t comprehend anything that I read. But this time it’s different. I feel relief. This book made me feel something I’ve never felt before and I started to cry in the middle of it. I was in the story and that has never happened to before. So I want to thank Colleen because this is a pivotal moment in my life. I finally can say I like reading and it’s because of her.

4. Had to buy a physical copy of this one! - Absolutely loved this book. I didn’t really know what I was getting into with this one. Figured it would be another run of the mill romance novel. This was my first Colleen Hoover book. I decided to start book buddy reading with my cousin for fun. We’re on our th Colleen Hoover book in a month! Colleen Hoover has something special. She can capture you and keep you under a spell that you never want to end. Shes realistic and deep. This is the one that made me fall in love with her writing. I laughed and cried. My heart was ripped out of my chest a time or two. It was a rollercoaster ride. I can’t believe there are negative reviews but to each their own and all that. For me, this was a wonderful read. One that will stay with me forever. One that I’ll probably read over and over. As soon as I finished it I ran not walked to buy a physical copy to live on my shelf forever and ever.

5. Lovely. - In the best ways possible this book took me through it. I felt all of the feelings and emotions reading this great book and to be honest I’ve only read books with about - pages so was a jump for me but not really cause I couldn’t get enough of it. I wanted to read more, I wanted a bigger glimpse of what was to come for atlas and Lilly. Great book, I bought it quite a while ago like back in September of and just finished reading it today feb, , . I read it on and off because some parts I just needed a break and didn’t want to see what happened next but I did it. I just bought it starts with us and couple days ago since I was nearing the end and I can’t wait to see what’s to come!! I’ve related to Lily in more ways then one, I’ve shared similar experiences between both lily and Atlas and shared these experiences with other also. Very relatable, brought up some old memories I got to think of. / would recommend!

6. First…AMAZING!! - I could not put the book down the moment I first started reading it. I learned so much from this book and there were so many times I could just relate to certain emotions and situations. Just everything about this story, was impeccable. I will highly recommend this book to everyone I know!

8. Meaningful Story - Reading this book from beginning to end definitely had meaning! Maybe some parts of the book were cheesy or some might say corny, but this is a book I would recommend to anyone who loves romance and real life events. I loved Lily’s character and all the other characters. There were some humorous parts, kinky parts, sad parts, and everything is pretty detailed. the story line was a bit basic, but good. Please read the epilogue of this book.

1. Too Sappy - I read the first book in this series and loved it so I bought the second one to see how the story ends. It was a little too sappy for me and nothing really exciting happens. Atlas seems just a little too perfect. I kept waiting for some intense, dramatic scene between Ryle and Atlas which starts to happen but then fizzles out.
2023-03-14
2. A good continuation - I liked being able to read about Lily and Atlas’ story, however I do feel like there’s zero plot and it’s definitely a lot slower than the first book, but honestly, I’m not sure if anything could top It Ends With Us. Easy read, and I still do recommend this book for anyone who read the first!
2023-02-17
3. What’s with the ending?? - I stuck with the book in anticipation of more roller coaster ups and downs from the first book. This book was so predictable and ended predictably. I also feel like there could’ve been so much information provided to tie loose ends. It leaves a lot of characters’ stories too open-ended.
2023-02-09
4. Teaches and entertains. - I could not put it down. This is an easy read, but only because of the way Ms Colleen Hoover captures your mind. She draws the readers in to feel all characters’ feelings and thoughts. You feel connected to them all and understand things you may not have before. Her ability to make you understand both of the main characters points of views is amazing. It’s hard to understand the evil character or why the main character would stay with a villain. I believe this is a real inside to victims of abuse. It helps readers understand the common hardships victims may deal with and that tug and pull that is hard to overcome when stuck in this situation. While creating sorrow for the victim is an easy thing an author can portray, she was also as to show us to feel for the villain as well, something I never thought to be possible regarding the situation the book surrounds. I was in aw over that piece alone. Read this book for the knowledge to understand and for the entertainment. This book skillfully crafted teaching the reader while also entertaining the reader. I was not able to put this down.

5. Real, relatable, inspiring. - SOOOO GOOD
As a victim of domestic abuse, Colleen Hoover really got it right. The uncertainty, the pain, the love, the fear. This book was an absolute emotional roller coaster that helps people to understand the trauma of not being able to leave the situation, and what happens after you do.
2023-01-28
6. So sweet! - I loved the sweet twist on this one! The happy ending is everything I didn’t know I needed. I was hesitant because it ends with us had an ending. But to pick up a new beginning and start over almost felt wrong, but It was SO good. There are some grammatical errors and some sentences I had to reread to understand because of word misplacement but that was easy for my brain to fix. Still a GREAT book!
2023-01-25
7. Another couldn’t stop reading - Go read it ends with us and then this book so it all flows. This book gave the perfect ending. I cried. I had tears rolling down my face. I couldn’t stop reading it. I was always wondering what’s going to happen. I felt I was inside the book series. It needs to become a movie. Read the books. You won’t be disappointed.

1. Great. But I wish it was more raw and real. - Good Book. I have to say that I started reading this book, because “Almost Famous” is my favorite movie ever. My number one. And I like rock and I have a podcast where I talk about rock from this times, weekly. And I also love Fleetwood Mac. So I had high expectations and this was my first book by this author. I have to say that it was not what I expected. But it was very good. I feel that the format made difficult for the author to build the characters deep enough for you to actually connect with them. I feel like some (even though I like them all), specially Wareen, who I really like, he feels a little bit like a caricature sometimes. Graham thought, got raw enough that he made me cry with him. He was my favorite and the one I felt more real. But then others were a little bit too on the surface for the complexity they were supposed to have, for example: Camila, Billy and Karen. I needed the author to get deeper inside of them to understand them better. Daisy was ok, you are able to understand the girl, she is just a bit unlikeable too often. She victimizes herself at some points too much, but you get why and she redeems herself. Her parents story is unnecessary, if the author was going to build such a difficult to believe relationship between the parents and the girl, we needed way more context, or nothing at all, or just an open note of how those two are a couple of psychopaths directly. Because there’s not another way to understand her parents. But the rest is very good, the tour feels real. I have to say that I got hooked pretty late in the book when Graham and Karen broke up, because that was the moment where the book landed for me. When it landed and felt real.

2. Couldn’t put it down - It’s incredible that a book written strictly “interview-style” can hold my attention for so long. I absolutely loved this book. Read it in one sitting! I don’t know if it’s because Almost Famous is my favorite movie, Fleetwood Mac is my favorite band, or simply that it’s a story unlike anything I’ve read before, but either way it got me HOOKED. The writing is incredible. You can tell how different each character truly is just through their words, which really paints the story. The band is so convincingly real it made me question if the Aurora album was on spotify. I would give anything to see this come to life! I have nothing bad to say about it, other than it worsened my Fleetwood Mac obsession!!!! Highly recommend
2023-01-07
3. Run of the mill - The book gets stars for being a well written, flowing read. It holds your attention, absolutely. But it is so anti climatic. The ending is boring and really cliché. If you need something to just… occupy your brain for a bit without expecting much from the content emotionally, this is a good read for when you feel like that.
2022-12-28
4. Daisy Jones & The sSix - Brilliant! As the band broke through into the big time, I felt the thrill of their expectations. As Daisy and Billy mixed ambition, brooding love and great talent, I felt the magic. Without hearing a note I felt the music - heard the songs of Zeppelin, Jefferson Airplane and Fleetwood Mac.

5. everyone has to read this book - i am not joking when i say that this book gives me life. i was instantly hooked from the very beginning. the writing is a different format (told in a documentary style) but i absolutely loved it. there was no slow parts (because of the documentary style) and i just loved the story. the writing was beautiful and it was just such an amazing book that after you finish you just sit there for a couple of days figuring out what to read next because nothing can come close to this book. all good things from me
2022-03-27
6. I felt like I was deep into bingeing a documentary show about the band. - Such a unique way of telling a story, I felt like I was deep into bingeing a documentary show about the band. The story felt a bit predictable and repetitive at times, but the last couple of chapters are what bring it all together to make it such a great story and what really made me love it. The twist at the end, the perfect back and forth of perspectives happening in real time that brought it all to a close leaving you full of feels. Chefs kiss

1. On of my new favorites! - This book is amazing! This was actually hard to read. As a mother it was difficult. But just read it you’ll understand what I mean. Probably the hardest thing I’ve read yet, but I couldn’t put it down. I was hooked! It was such a ride. In my personal opinion- I hated the bonus chapter. If I could go back I would never have read it. I loved how CoHo originally ended the novel. I am Team manuscript all day. I read this and ran not walked to buy a physical copy to live on my bookshelf forever and ever and ever. This is one of my top three Colleen Hoover books. And it is one of my new favorites period!
2023-03-09
2. Fast read but.. - So I’ve sat with what I’ve read and I’m don’t consider this a ‘young adult’ read. It’s pretty intimately descriptive. Story: Met through trauma, ‘fell in love’ in a few weeks and then discovered more layers.. There are some disturbing bits. I think this will be the first & last CoHo book for me lol
2023-03-09
3. Excellent except for… - This book was excellent; however it would have been A LOT better if Hoover would have left out all the filthy details & bad cuss words. I’m not sure why authors think this makes their books better. My daughter in law also read it, she’s and she felt like it was over the top! Neither of us want to read Hoovers books anymore. Maybe she will grow as an author and realize this is truly unnecessary for a great book!
2023-03-07
4. So messed up! - Such a great book! It kept me interested, appalled, and intrigued from start to finish. I’m not familiar with this authors other books, I think they are mainly romances. In my opinion this is definitely the genre she should pursue in the future because she knocked it out of the park with this book.
2023-02-26
5. Verity - Wow, that was unexpected! I’ve read multiple books of Colleen Hoovers, so when this book came up as a suggestion, I didn’t read anything about it. The first chapter snagged me and I couldn’t put it down! I read it in days, and being a mom of , that meant less sleep! It was worth it!! It is a must read!
2023-02-24
6. Raunchy, Intense, Predictable - I’m not sure if Hoover’s other books are like this, considering I’d never even heard of her, but be warned: this book is full of very descriptive sex scenes that seem to take up the majority of the “thrill” factor. The plot is mediocre at best, and the ending is quite abrupt. That being said, all of her characters are equally flawed (something that I quite enjoyed), with nobody being as innocent as they initially appear. The mystery is predictable, but the ending is sort of open-ended, leaving you wondering whose account you are supposed to believe. There are somewhat graphic scenes of child abuse against an infant, so if this bothers you, you might want to move past this one. It certainly triggered my own C-PTSD since it came up rather suddenly.

1. Tepid goings on in Brooklyn Heights - While ‘Pineapple Street’ is an engaging and easy read, the whole theme of a WASPy old money Brookyn Height family and their travails comes off as a bit forced. Names of renowned and not so renowned Brooklyn establishments are thrown around with abandon and minimal context. And the life events confronting everyone come off as ‘Dynasty’ like. Enjoyable for what it is.

1. Wonderful twists and turns! - The Bitter Season by Tami Hoag is the latest Kovac and Liska novel. Liska has transferred to the new Cold Case Unit (funded with a half a million-dollar grant) in Minneapolis, Minnesota to have regular hours and spend more time with her two sons. After going through hundreds of files the new unit meets to discuss their first case. Gene Grider (a retired detective) has come back to the cold case unit with an agenda. He wants the first case they work on to be the Ted Duffy case. Ted Duffy was an officer who was killed on the job twenty-five years previously. Grider is very determined (and a misogynist). The boss decides it will be the first case, but Liska will work it (a new set of eyes and since Grider did not solve it the first time around). Grider is not thrilled and goes out of his way to make things difficult for Nikki Liska. Sam Kovac misses his old partner, Nikki Liska. Kovac is on his third partner in three months. His latest is Michael Taylor (a fledgling homicide detective). Kovac’s latest case is the death of Dr. Lucien Chamberlain and his wife. They were murdered (in a gruesome fashion) with a Japanese sword from Dr. Chamberlain’s collection. Who wanted to kill this professor and his wife? Nikki Liska dives into her case. However, it seems like the Duffy family does not seem to really want the case solved. No one will answer questions. Liska is relentless in her pursuit of closing this case especially when she discovers that her case and Kovac’s are connected. Someone is not telling the truth. Liska and Kovac will have to work through the secrets and lies to reveal the killer. The Bitter Season was just wonderful. I did not want to put this book down! There were so many wonderful twists and turns (I just loved it). The mystery was complicated and not easy to solve (but I did). I enjoyed how this mystery was revealed to the reader. There is an overabundance of foul language in the book (which I did not enjoy). The Bitter Season is well-written, fast paced, and has great characters. The Bitter Season can be read if you have not enjoyed the previous books in the series (I have not read other books in this series). I give The Bitter Season out of stars. I cannot wait for the next book in the Kovac and Liska series. I received a complimentary copy of The Bitter Season from NetGalley in exchange for an honest evaluation of the book.

1. Beauty out of tragedy! - This is one of the most inspiring books I’ve read in a long time. The author made Edward and Shay as well as the deceased passengers seem real. The living and supporting people for Edward and the deceased passengers seem real, too. I highly recommend this book to anyone who has a heart.
2021-08-10
2. Dear Edward - This book will remain in my top five of greatest books of all time. Characters that you would recognize on the street if you ran into them.
Passages where I would have to put the book down to saviour and allow to imprint on myself.
A beautiful book all the way around and one that because it’s so good I can’t even pick up another book for a little while because I know it will pale in comparison.

3. Beautifully done - The protagonist becomes a part of your soul. His grief, confusion and pain is described so articulately that you can feel it your bones. His life line and clearly his soul mate, Shay seems to be the one blessing in his life after the terrible tragedy he walked out of. But the older they get and the more they share it is obvious to any that Shay needed saving herself so it was fate that these two lost but exceptionally compassionate and brilliant kids came together and made a substantial difference in each other’s lives and in those who had also needed a saving grace.

4. Emotional and thoughtful read - Edward is a twelve year old boy traveling to California with his mother Jane, father Bruce and fifteen year old brother Jordan. The family is moving to accommodate Jane’s new job as a screenwriter. The family has always lived in New York City. We start the story with everyone trudging through the Newark airport, security, and Jordan’s newfound independence. They then board the plane, Jane in first class and the rest of the family in the back. There are brief descriptions of some of the other passengers and crew that we will meet throughout the story. Each has their own reasons for traveling to Los Angeles; some to start new lives, some for work, some for vacation. At the end of the first chapter, we move to evening of the same day when the NTSB is at the crash site of Trinity Airlines flight trying to make sense of the disaster. One person has survived this horrible crash, and that is twelve year old Edward. Now known as the “miracle boy”, we follow Edward’s story as he tries to piece back together his life. In addition and alternating with Edward’s story, we follow the time that the plane was in the air learning more about those other passengers and crew, and how that Airbus A ended up in pieces on the ground of a remote part of Colorado. Napolitano carefully unravels this story in bits to allow us to try to absorb what tragedy occurred on that June day in . She feeds us bits of the time on the plane over the course of the next five years of Edward’s life. It is not an easy road for Edward, nor the passengers as the plane heads to its demise. Edward’s story is fascinating though, and teaches us that in every tragedy there is a chance for hope and rebirth. The book tends to be a slower read as the story unfolds. There is so much to absorb regarding Edward’s feelings. It’s not an easy read, and there are times you wonder how this boy even survives. It is beautifully written, giving us characters surrounding Edward who have their own feelings to resolve. This book is a keeper. One that made me stop and think and be thankful for what I have. . stars on Goodreads

1. Storm Watch C.J. Box - Wyoming Game Warden Joe Pickett always does what he feels is the right thing to do. Sort of a Dudley do right. Very often it lands him in trouble but he always manages to clear himself of any wrong doing. Sometimes just barely. This story evolves around Chinese spies radical anti government characters and a host of other unsavory as well as good people. An excellent and entertaining read!! Enjoyed immensely!

2. Why not tie up loose ends? - As with many of Mr Box’s Pickett books, the ending of this book leaves many obvious questions unanswered. This could have been avoided without much effort from the author by simply answering these questions: ) how were the many deaths at the hands of the falconers, as undeputized citizens, explained and justified? Certainly, someone in the local law enforcement would have taken issue with Geronimo and Romanoski being given such leeway by Officer Pickett. ) What was the fallout with Joe’s mother-in-law after the arrest of the governor? The reader would’ve lived to hear about her humiliation in the aftermath, seeing that we all despise her. Why not take a little more time and satisfy your readers’ curiousity?

3. To Those who are disappointed - - If you think the author needs to move on because you’re bored or you can’t help but be offended by political overtones, I have a suggestion: instead of telling him to stop or write something else, simply put his books aside and curl up with your favorite Dostoevsky or Tolstoy - your literary sophistication has obviously surpassed those of us commoners. In the mean time, Mr. Box, wear out your keyboard!

4. Not up to par with earlier books - I’ve enjoyed a lot of CJ Boxes novels including the Joe Pickett series, but won’t be buying anymore. He needs to move on from these characters. At this point it’s like reading the Hardy Boys books. If you are new to the series go back and read the early novels which are very good before spending your money on the more recent titles.

1. A life of deceit - Could not put it down, I found myself being angry, compassionate and so sad for Evelyn. So well written, easy to follow, left me wanting more and wondering if Monique ever told her Mom the truth. Evelyn living a life she thought she wanted more than anything, giving up her soul, body and mind to get it only to not have the people and life she finally loved ripped from her.

2. Easy yet engaging read - If you’re an avid reader or have a higher reading level, this book may come across easy and predictable to you. I was able to finish it in about days and really liked getting to know all of the characters. The plot of the book seems very realistic and makes you wonder if this happens in real life.
2023-03-20
3. oh my god yes. - This book is IMPOSSIBLE to put down. I read through this book in hours exactly. This book flows so nicely and has an amazing plot, it truly makes you feel like Evelyn is a REAL person. The way she writes about the characters feelings and the way she writes imagery, is truly beautiful.

4. Loved Every Minute! - Evelyn’s story is so complicated, dramatic and honest and I never wanted to put the book down. I loved that this book wasn’t about the men or the husbands but about Evelyn’s journey to become her true self. The way this book took us through her evolution was original and brought a few tears along the way. Must read!
2023-02-09
5. political biased and racist - I listened to an hour of the book and thought the story was okay except for the political biased and racist comments the author put in. The worst part is that the comments do not advance the plot at all and could have easily been left out. I am not interested in listening to this type of book anymore when there are so many better written books out there.

6. Something with a twist! - Groundhogs day meets the Maze Runner but with murder. Definitely a book to keep you guessing and a few twists you really can’t see coming! A good balance of giving you the answer and leaving you hanging to fill in your own ideas, as any good fiction book should! This would be a great read for book club discussion

7. WOW / - Ok, so when I found this book, I thought it would just be typical and I would just read to see some drama. Boy was I wrong. I am not a person who loves reading, but this book was fantastic. I am probably too young to read this book but it was so compelling that I couldn’t stop myself. My favorite book I have read to date! Finished in only days and even though I stayed up late it was all worth it in the end. No matter what your style is it is an amazing piece of art and you should give yourself the chance to read it.

8. The husbands of Evelyn Hugo - Evelyn Hugo was a ruthless, spoiled, selfish person who used her money to get whatever she wanted.
She would never have been a friend of mine and I had no respect for her character. However, the book was entertaining and kept me interested to see what she would unbelievably do next - I believe she had a mental disorder and totally manipulated all the people around her. She only loved herself!

1. First Book After Awhile - I had so much fun reading this book, as it’s been the first i’ve read in a few years. I have never read a fantasy before and this has me hooked! what a great story about love, friendship, hardships, the trade-offs of life, and more! can’t wait to continue with the other books.
2023-03-19
2. Good for what it is - Story is easy to get into, strong female lead rather than the brooding damsel in distress most YA novels have. However, sjm writes like she doesn’t have a thesaurus. Repeats the same descriptors for everything, “ripped to ribbons” “mirth” “bowels turned watery” “metallic tang”. Some of the plot also seemed lazily written, but honestly, if you want an easy read and have a thing for faeries, give it a try. Hopefully the rest of the series has more depth.
2023-03-11
3. Fun Story - I didn’t know what to expect when I read this, only that I had seen young women in the bookstore buy it and check it out. I didn’t even know it was romance — just that it was some fantasy story about fairies. I really enjoyed this book and the story. I enjoyed the series as well, though I thought it started stronger than it ended.
2023-01-24
4. Hooked! - The imagination of the different courts and they way they were brought to life beautiful. I loved the character development. The characters were all so deep and unique. I appreciated that there was spice, but like the right amount of spice Not too much detail just enough to know what’s goin on lol and not a lot of it either. Thanks I could end with this book and be happy… though I doubt I’ll be able to stay away from reading the rest.
2023-01-23
5. Obsessed - I hesitated starting this series as I’m not really a fantasy person, the only books I have read in that genre are Harry Potter! It had so much hype that I had to try it- Omg I finished it in days. I did not want to do anything but read this book, my sleep schedule was so jacked up cause I refused to sleep. I love the way this author writes, she world builds so beautifully and the characters are just chefs kiss. Just start it now, I’m mad I didn’t start sooner.

6. Fantastic world, and a whiny girl - Feyre is an intense-willed and skilled young human world. She was doing her very best to keep her family alive and together. A promise made years before at her mother's deathbed. The world creation of Prythian and the Realms of the High Lords of Faerie offers excellent potential. In this first novel, Sarah Maas lays out the magic system and geography basics. At the time of the first novel, most fae considers the mortals (humans) to be little more minor animals available for their entertainment and use. The author provides some history of the conflict between the fae and humans, just enough to know that the dispute is not resolved and will take little to provoke a war. The story is a fairytale based on the Capulet and Montague feud mixed with the Snow White and the Mistress of All Evil dynamic of two women in a less physical battle than an emotional and mental one. I enjoyed the idea of the story, the magic system, and the different fae. I feel there is so much potential here. However, Feyre is a whiny young female in the book's first third. Are teenage girls this whiny? I don't recall them being that way when I was a teenager. Then a radical shift to the undying love for another and the rise of mighty women. Most of my disappointment with this story was the protagonist came across as so two-dimensional, and her growth as a person was rapid and difficult to believe. I have heard the second story is better. I like the basics enough that I will give it one more book to engage my attention fully.

7. Pretty good - This was a little fan fiction-y, it definitely has a Twilight feel to it. I think the level of writing is lacking a little, but the characters and the story line are certainly intriguing. I wasn't going to get the next book, until I read of the end of this one, and now I need to know that Rhys actually gets her.
2022-12-08
8. Best Book & Series You Will Ever Read - This book consumed me. It is written in such detail that you truly live the story along with Feyre - you feel the joy, the stress, the romance, the grief, the love, the fear, the adventure, the guilt, and every emotion in between. I could not put it down! The entire series is the same way, the characters and complexity will capture your heart. You HAVE to read it!
2022-12-05
9. pacing? - this book is all over the place. the pacing is insane, and I had the hardest time with some of the "logic" and none of the characters grew or changed very much of their own, everything is granted. felt like a bad twist on beauty and the beast. that being said the two steamy scenes are nice.

1. Good read! - Overall: I highly recommend! I did feel like the beginning started off a little slow, but once it picked up it was hard to put down. I wish more time was spent on Miles and his personal story, as I feel like that was rushed. However, a story of healing that has a beautiful ending. Definitely a page turner!
2023-03-20
2. Beautiful - This book was absolutely beautiful. I loved it so much. All the incredible emotion in the way Colleen writes. I cried again at the end of the book. It was so different from the last book by her that I read “it ends with us” while it also allows ALL the incredible emotions to come to the surface and spill over. I can’t recommend this book enough.

3. No. Just no. - Why are people pretending this was a good book? I am genuinely curious. This was the first Colleen Hoover book I read (and I read more and it didn't get any better). This is one of those books that make you lose faith that there are good books out there. The plot and characters are incredibly toxic and disappointing. I don't even know why I mentioned a plot because the entire book is just emotional trauma and smut and I'm begging the MC to grow a backbone.

4. beautiful story - Truthfully, the writing itself wasn’t all that astounding but even so I couldn’t put it down. Tate and Miles have become something so precious to me and their story, aside from the writing in itself, I found beautiful. Miles overcoming everything he went through, how it showed the ugly part of love, not just the lovely parts that people love — just everything. Im also just a big sucker for damaged men. But also the characters themselves, I thought were great. All in all, even if the writing wasn’t the best, still worth a read in my opinion!
2023-02-02
5. Loved - I loved this book. The only thing I don’t enjoy is how it perpetuates the thinking of believing a man is offering you more than he states he is willing to give you. I feel like many women fall to this kind of behavior, hoping that their situation will be just like that of Tate and Miles’. Regardless, everything makes sense once you finish the book. It was a great read. I would recommend to any Coleen Hoover fan!

6. I felt so jealous - I got so jealous over Tate. She got the happy ending I have always wanted. Still waiting. I cried right at the end. My heart tore to pieces because I want the happy ending Tate got. But it touched me how the love is ugly until it’s beauty comes out. My heart broke and shattered. I felt the pain.

7. Very good - I’m not saying it’s good just to ride the bandwagon. Thoroughly reading this book and looking back at some of the things that happened.. just wow. The flow of the story was good. Flipping from past to present and understanding the reason why one character was a certain way. Figuring out how to love again, it was beautiful. I wish I could read it for the first time again! Also the it had enough spice for me lol!

8. Romanticizes unhealthy relationships - This story was very disappointing and I feel sad for the young girls and boys who may read this and think the behaviors of Miles and the feelings from Tate are healthy. Tate constantly says things like I know this is a red flag but… I hate myself around him… I’m scared of him and his reactions. Young boys and girls who read these types of stories, please recognize this behavior is extremely unhealthy and could easily lead to an abusive relationship in real life. Do not think that if you love someone else enough you can “save them.” Someone who truly loves you will make you feel respected and more yourself. Of course, in real life we can meet people who changes our lives, people who love and support a partner while they address their trauma and work toward healthier behaviors. This could have been a story of learning healthy strategies of surviving trauma and redemption depicting the healing journey. Instead it completely romanticizes unhealthy relationships and abusive behaviors. I gave star because it was a quick read and the potential this story could have had.

9. i didnt like it - not sure why this has such overwhelmingly good reviews. for one thing, everything about the book is boring...boring characters, boring setting, boring plot. i didn't really find myself enjoying any part of it. for another thing, this book has incredibly toxic undertones and the fact that it has a happy ending is so disappointing. miles walks all over tate for the entire book, using his unresolved issues as an excuse. hes totally smeowelfish for the entire story and then gets rewarded for it by the end. i would be fine if it didnt end in happily ever after, but the fact that it ends with them getting together is just romanticizing abuse. colleen hoover seems to have a recurring theme in her books of toxic, abusive men. i wish she would stop romanticizing these kinds of relationships one thing i will give her though, is that it is very well written. it had some good elements that ended up coming together cohesively in the end. still, though, not worth reading

1. What a special book about family and the power of love! - I was truly taken by surprise at how special this book turned out to be. I thought it would be a light historical romance novel with some folk tales imbued in it. However, it was much more than that--A story about finding your own identity, loyalty, the power of a mother's love (adoption), and even an underlying story of a child with autism and how a single mother does the best for him at a time with so little knowledge and tolerance for it. I was in tears by the time it came to an end. The pacing never wavered and I couldn't put it down. The only negative is that I wanted the story to continue and the epilogue was way too short. I wanted more; more Effie and Lachlan in Scotland, and more Morna and Jack.

2. Didn’t want to put it down - Well it was pure torcher reading half this book and then having to put it down because life happens. I loved every moment of this book with tears of laughter, sadness and joy. This was well written and I’ve loved every book in all the series. Thank you Melissa for bringing these stories to life.

4. Such a strong loving story - It’s time for another amazing romance book alert. Melissa has a new book out and you know how much I love her books. So of course I’m gonna share it with you! It’s called Then came love and it follows Jax and Jordan’s story. Jax and Jordan story is a love finds you at the most inopportune moments type of story. Jordan ,a sweet woman who lost her family, is engaged and meets with Jax a brilliant famous wedding dress designer to design her dress. This should be a normal wedding thing to do but when sparks fly Jordan is left wondering what is wrong with her. Can she be friends and work with Jax to get her dress made or should she steer clear and buy a generic off the rack dress? Jordan is not alone in these sparks; Jax felt them too and hasn’t gotten her off his mind since but she’s marrying someone else. Can he show her how love is meant to be? I definitely recommend this book. As usual I was hooked from the first chapter. They are so emotionally tied together it makes me smile. I had tears of joy and sadness in the last chapter. I was sad the book ended so fast and I loved the story but wanted more. I want proposal, and more on Sully. I honestly can’t believe I got a year to wait to read Sully’s story but Melissa definitely reeled me in and left me longing for more in a good way. Her books are definitely addictive so head over and get your copy of this book today. You will be happy you did

5. Jax Jordan - Every Melissa Foster story is unique and dives a little deeper into what is or isn’t perceived as socially acceptable. This story has a very different beginning, but still leads to a happily ever after. Jax falls for Jordan the first time they meet. Unfortunately she is a client and is asking him to design her wedding gown. Jordan is keeping her heart safe and is staying with someone who has always been there for her, until she learns more about him. The signs of hope are all around us. Jax helps Jordan reach for her dreams and surrounds her with hope and signs of hope daily. Thank you, Melissa Foster, for the touching story of hope and love.

6. Wow. Just wow. - I have been waiting for Jax’s story. And this book more than delivered! Jordan and he were meant to be together, but there was Todd. Todd who I despised before even “meeting” him because he tried to dim Jordan for his own gains. Jax wanted to help her light shine, and it made me love him even more! Such a great book!

7. Jax is swoon-worthy - How can anyone not love Jax Braden? He's in love with Jordan, but she is with someone else. And he would never interfere in someone's relationship. He is so swoon-worthy. Goodness. Doing all of the "groom" tasks for the wedding without telling her that her fiance is a douche. Just spending as much time with her as he can. Is it wrong of him? Probably. But she needs a friend and that is exactly what he is being. I'll be honest and say I was not impressed with Jordan. She was being taken advantage of and used by her fiance. I felt like she allowed him the freedom to do that and made excuses for him. It frustrated me from a woman's perspective. I pride myself on women being intuitive and sensing when something is not right. A few notes - I loved those old ladies where Jordan works. They are a freaking hoot. I loved the "we're old, not dead" mentality. Good for them for being who they are. And Jilly is going to get hers and soon I hope. Goodness, she needs a man.
2022-05-19
8. Full of emotions - Jax and Jordan really are the perfect match. Too bad she’s engaged to someone else…and he’s designing her wedding gown. I mean, can this happen anywhere other than between the pages of a romance novel?
I spent much of the book wondering if Jax was an eternal optimist or if he was delusional. Jordan was set on marrying old what’s his name. Even with the sparks flying between her and Jax, she still held onto her plan to marry a man we didn’t love or was even compatible with. While I loved their chemistry, banter and budding friendship, I wondered if Jax specifically would get his heart broken. I honestly wasn’t that worried about Jordan. Harsh, but true.
While there’s no physical “cheating”, there was still feelings that were allowed to run between these two. Not gonna lie, I was skeptical. But I shouldn’t have been, because the tough stuff wasn’t swept under the rug and ignored. The author handled it in a thoughtful and honest way. Which made me love the characters and the storyline even more. Shame on me for even entertaining a moment of doubt. And kudos to Melissa Foster for yet another complex and loving book.
2022-05-19
9. Finding the perfect love - Jordan and Jax meet for him to design her gown. Through the process of him designing the gown, they form a bond and spend time talking. While they know they shouldn’t be spending time together, Jax still turns on the charm! I loved that she finds she doesn’t need to settle. And that they find their way to each other! Definitely a must read!
2022-05-18
10. Loyalty and Support Above All Else - I love the strong, confident, and caring nature of Jax. He is confident in himself, knows what he wants, and isn’t afraid of a little hard work to get to his goals. Jordan reminds me of myself. Wanting to make everyone happy and forgetting that sometimes, you need to put yourself first. I love her tenacity and determination. I love that she never gave up on what she knew in her core to be true and that she was able to prove to the world that she was deserving of all the happiness. The relationship between Jax and Jordan was perfectly written. I love that they support each other and that they both know they can rely on each other. I thought this book was beautifully written. Every character brought meaning to the book and every relationship was truly there for a purpose. Fingers crossed for a spin-off for Jordan’s sister

1. Amazing - Oh… I love this book SO much. There’s something that speaks so deep about this book. One version of yourself being dead and the things you once loved and needed were no longer those same things… finding and loving who you truly are and choosing that for yourself and not for someone else… Finding your home and family… and FIGHTING for them… SO looking forward to the next book. More Spicy than the first book btw but I didn’t mind it. I you Rhysand

2. Everything else is now compared to this book - As a reader, for me there is before A Court of Mist and Fury, and after it. The toughest part is that I’ll be chasing the thrill I had reading this book for the first time, possibly forever and may never find it again. I’ve read the whole series and I’ve read this book multiple times now. It’s comforting, powerful, raw, sexy, riveting and hopeful all at once. The feeling I have reading this book, is exactly why I love reading—being completely transported to another world and feeling fully immersed there. Put simply, I love it and cannot recommend it enough.

3. IT JUST KEEPS GETTING BETTER - Y’all, this is a star series. The second installment is shattering and soul crushing in all the right ways, nice and lengthy and full of intrigue, romance, action, and wit. It’s impossible to put down, impossible not to try and stretch toward the ending with desperate fever to find out how it all ends. Mass is a MASTER. Do yourself a favor and READ THIS SERIES!!

4. intoxicating book for dreamers - this series couldn’t have come into my life at a better time. something lost in the world, trying to find my way with only me and my dreams. this book was intoxicating and although not of this world helped me grasp my world. helped me once again fight for my dreams. along with making new ones.

5. I’m obsessed - The first book took me a little bit of time to get into but I overall really enjoyed it. This book, however, blew the first one out of the water! It was so well written and she truly expanded the world we were exposed to in the first book into something new entirely. Amazing, from start to finish. I think this will go down as one of my favorite books ever. /, cannot recommend enough!

6. What the in world… - It’s been years since a series has gripped my attention this hard. I cannot begin to express how amazing it is to read about a character that loves, that grows, that teaches the reader that change is hard but sometimes better than you could ever imagine. My imagination hasn’t been tapped into like this in a long time. If you’re debating on reading this, I’m telling you to go for it.

1. Ehh - It had SOOOO much potential but it didn’t do it for me. I really dislike the narrating maybe if it was written from the characters point of view I might have liked this more. I’m not sure. I love the background of the story for sure but I just couldn’t get into it. Low key a little disappointing.

2. I couldn’t finish… - Idk…I love CL books usually but I couldn’t even get through this. Jess just isn’t my kind of girl. River was hard to read but still intriguing but then Jess was so blah…made no effort, had a bland personality. Just not my vibe. Maybe I’ll try again later. Off to read some OG CL books!

3. A Love Letter to Science. - Admittedly it has been a very long time since I have read a Christina Lauren book. Too long. Way too long. The Soulmate Equation is brilliant, poignant, funny, adorable - all the things you want in a C-LO book!! I adored this cast of characters and am glad that I finally read this book. Omigah. The epilogue!!!!!
2022-03-14
4. Cute - I liked this book. I read it in one day. The concept was original, but the technology / app detail set up was a bit lengthy / tedious. Fans of vintage C-Lo will instead wish to get to the good stuff sooner...the swoon, the lust, the general romance novel content....as opposed to C-Lo’s more recent women’s fiction writing style. I liked Juno and Fizzy...would love to read a Fizzy romance!

5. Another one! - Just when I think Christina Lauren has already written the cutest romantic comedy they give us another! This easily became one of my top Rom-com books. They never fail to create relatable characters and a story that captivates me so much that I HAVE to finish in one sitting. Love love love!
2021-05-21
6. Fun Weekend Read! - I had fun reading The Soulmate Equation. I loved Jess and River with a little bit of push and pull. This story line is different to what I am use to reading and I could not get over it. I was engrossed in this story that I may have stayed in PJs all weekend to finish this book. Jess and River have an interesting start. I love the whole DNA match concept. This story had me laugh, made me wonder if Jess will find love, and then at the end I was a smiling book nerd. The Soulmate Equation is a new read that I definitely recommend!

7. Loved the unique storyline! - I adored this for many reasons...I love single parent romances, I love grumpy heroes, and I love a fun best friend side character. Not to mention that the grandparents were pretty cool and June, the kid was just as cool. I pretty much devoured this book. I found it to be original, fun and romantic. The premise behind the genetic matchmaking is what made this story stand out for me. I haven't read anything like it and I thought it was well done. Add all the reasons I mentioned above and that's why I this book was a hit for me. I highly recommend it!

1. The Fixer Upper - First time reading this author, but definitely won’t be the last. This lady knows how to tell a story. Even though it was a nice, long one, I wasn’t ready for it to end. Loved all the characters, well not so much Dempsey’s father and his wife, but you can only choose your friends, not your relatives. Anyway, I believe anyone who loves a good story will enjoy this book.

1. Meh - Disappointing. Amateurish thinking by characters. (“A gas station might have cameras so let’s avoid them by walking through a Train Station.” Uhm, what?) Weak plot (Could have finished at chapter one by using FedEx, lol). I’ve enjoyed the previous Gray Man books, but I finally gave up half way though this one.

2. Burner - Really enjoyed reading this book!! Skipped the long, detailed fights and graphic scenes demonstrating Court and Zoya as superheroes against incredible odds. Still loved the mission goals and underlying good versus bad decisions that reflect the end justifies the means ….. from destroying yachts to uncovering corruption in the highest places in governments all over the world. Money and power continue to corrupt, but may the good guys win!

3. Phenomenal - Mark Greaney is the best author in the suspense genre and it’s not close. I don’t know how he continues to top his last book over and over but I’m here for it. I only wish we could figure out a way to clone him so he could get more than one a year. Best Gray Man movie yet and next year will be the same. Must read.

4. 1. Fun, sweet read, kind of improbable story - I really liked this book and was invested in what was happening. The relationships were sweet and interesting. There were some unanswered questions about what was happening that feel like plot holes if you think about them too hard, but if you just enjoy the book for what it is, it’s a good read!

2. A fun read - This book was a fun entertaining novel I would say mostly about a step mother’s relationship with her step daughter as they try to navigate a complicated event. It’s emotional but not too gut wrenching that you have to pause and cry. I would suggest it to anyone who wants to have a moment to escape :)

3. Boring - I finally finished this book & I can honestly say I did not like it. I was hooked in the beginning because of all the suspense but as the book goes on it gets really boring. So boring that I put it down for two days then came back & forced myself to finish it, hoping for a great ending that never happened. Not to mention the daughter Bailey is VERY unlikeable. Wouldn’t recommend.

4. Thrilling! - Definitely a page turner, I enjoyed the story very much. I feel like Laura tried to be as location specific as she could but there were a few details that she neglected. The story itself seemed really simple in the beginning, but unfortunately lost me a few times towards the end. Overall, it’s a quick and easy read, wouldn’t be surprised if this turns into a movie/tv series!

5. Not that good - I didn’t enjoy the book, found the moral of the story a bit stale and used by many authors before. Too many inconsistencies or mistakes. No legal bar in San Francisco is open at am, especially in a “boutique” hotel. No bar will serve you old fashioned in a martini glass. Labradors is the most friendly dog breed and make bad guard dogs. There is a middle seat on almost every plane. Monterey is not located on the peninsula, not even close. It’s not possible to get thousand dollars in cash on a minute notice. The main character goes to length to “hide” by using somebody else’s credit card, but then uses Uber as soon as she gets to Austin. And so on. I just get irritated when authors feed you lies like that or think we are stupid and won’t notice.

6. Good Bones - Storyline was decent, but a bit sporadic. A good idea for a book and a nice final page but it didn’t strike me as much of a page turner. I wanted to know the answer to the obvious questions, but I only completed the book out of commitment to reading it all the way through once I started. Then again, I have never written a book. Props to Laura Dave.

1. What a gem of a story. - Loved this book so much! I grew up in rural Virginia and thankfully missed the drug world but know it’s there. This book is so much more than that. The lovely Community of people living off the land and supporting one another. The beauty of nature and space. The yearning and sadness and struggles of growing up and negotiating the world. Just beautiful.

2. Sad but worthwhile - This story is difficult to get through because it delves into a life of poverty and all the challenges that come with poverty, drugs, hardship, family failure. But in Kingsolver fashion, it’s also a love story to the people and mountains of Appalachia. I am always left with beautiful natural scenes at the end of her books and this is no exception. You cannot help but love and root for Demon and pray for escape and happiness.

3. Save your money - Did not like the abundant dependence on vulgarity to create characters and storyline. Way OVERDONE AND UNNECESSARY TO THE STORY LINE. Book lagged into unending nothingness. I was determined to finish book, but after hundreds of pages; I had to be nice to myself and do something I rarely do…..just stop. I had lost total interest in how it might end and what might happen to the characters next. The beginning had promise, but didn’t deliver.

4. An excellent story. - Kingsolver doesn’t any punches in this novel set in Appalachia. The loss of coal mining jobs, the oxy epidemic in the region, foster care seen through the eyes of Damon (called Demon) I couldn’t stop reading it. In my opinion, this book is Kingsolver best work since ‘ThePoisonwood Bible’.

5. Demon Copperhead - Could not finish this book when it became too oppressive. I read Shuggie Bain last year (/) despite the extreme sadness, but this narrative became repetitive. Childhood poverty and the failures of society to deal with it are on full display in Demon, but I just could not finish it.

6. Kingsolver at her best - An amazing tapestry of captivating fiction and fact from modern day backwoods VA. I laughed out loud, cried, wanted to move to Lee County and hoped my daughters would never come close to such a place. This is a wonderfully sobering follow up to Beth Macy’s Dopesick. A book to be appreciated on so many levels…

7. Love foe Lee County and Demon Copperhead - I stumbled on this book and was flabbergasted to find the setting in my hometown of Lee County, VA. My parents moved us to Nashville when I was a child but we make many trips a year to this beautiful, unappreciated heaven on earth the Author so poignantly described. Highway is worth the drive. She has also perfectly described the sad nature of the small, rural towns and the heartbreaking scenes of generations of our Appalachian ancestors. This book made me cry and swell with pride to be from such a remarkable heritage. Ms. Kingsolver truly made Demon Copperhead come to life.

8. Stunning - One of the best novels I have read in many years, but not for the faint of heart or those not up for a painful ride. Alternately sad, devastating, dark, funny and ultimately, uplifting. A laser focus on pressing social issues and the resulting destruction of kids and families, told through an incredibly authentic narrative.

9. Extraordinary read! - I loved the humor and forthrightness of young Demon. I missed the humor once he got tangled up even more in the web he could not escape. Kingsolver nailed the football culture of small town high school! I had such longing for Demon and Tommy in their recovery of all things living and resilient. They are champions. There is hope still out there. I only hope there is enough time for those hurting from life made way too hard.

10. Extraordinary. - Authentic & beautifully written, Demon Copperhead is NOT your Grade summer reading requirement -it’s the literary version of a great song covered by an equally great artist (think: Johnny Cash covering NIN ‘Hurt’). This spin on the Dickens classic is at once fresh and new & hauntingly familiar. Ms. Kingsolver’s work proves that the societal issues of Victorian London are alive & well in Gen-X Appalachia. Next up: the author’s take on Great Expectations, set in Boston, circa (hey, a girl can hope, right?).

1. Reminded me of some of the old Robert Ludlum novels - I can’t believe the review mentioned The Manchurian Candidate as it was a major spoiler! Shame, shame on them for that!!! That being said, though well written, the book is just an updated version of TMC. If you are unfamiliar with the novel and movies by that name, you’ll enjoy this return of the Cold War. If you are familiar, you’ll probably wonder how the author got away with something that borders on plagiarism.

1. A Solid , even . Stars!! - I really enjoyed this well researched and well written story. A very, very sad and tragic account of child abuse at the hands of those meant to love and protect. A lot of animal cruelty and abuse as well but, sadly, accurately depicts the reality of the way things really were back in the early first half of the th century.

1. I have fallen in love with this family - The inner circle is a true family. Maas conveyed their bonds and dedication to each other beautifully. This book had me angry, sobbing, and laughing. What a beautiful world Maas has created, and I’m so happy I read this series. This book was different from the last one in that it was less about romance and more about growth and fighting until you can’t. This book is full of strong characters and I am so happy I’ve gotten to know them all through these books.

2. Phenomenal - Everything in this book makes me sit on the edge of my seat. The wondrous plot and character development made me shed actual tears. The more I read the more I’m attached to these characters and their fictional lives. I spend every free moment reading. I never expected for there to be such a grip on me in this way, but am beyond glad my friend gifted me the first book. I finished this minutes ago and have already purchased the th book. All I can say is, don’t skip this series.

3. Breathtaking - Sarah J Maas created a beautiful, terrible, ethereal world that makes your heart race as you read. She weaves deep feelings and visions into easily flowing paragraphs, and catches every loose thread with care and intention. I was especially fond of the light-handed queer relationships woven into the storyline, the most gentle mirror of our own experiences I’ve found in fantasy writing. My favorite book yet.

1. I wish I could reread for the first time - Everything about this book is just so sweet and so well written. The way Beyah believed in Samson and you could tell from the beginning he was hurt but meant well. She believed in and he saw the absolute best in her. They needed each other and found their way to be together after everything. Such a great happy ending for two people who deserved it the most.

2. Great book! - Colleen Hoover never disappoints. This book was refreshing! I’ve read so many mediocre books lately I was beginning to think I’d lost my passion for reading. Nope! Just reading the wrong books. I’m so glad I’m reminded of good authors and good books! This one is a must read. I read it in a day and a half!

3. Fell in love with Beyah and Samson - Such an endearing heartfelt and harrowing coming of age story about a girl who had the odds of life stacked against her. Her mother was an addict, she was a lonely hungry angry and neglected little girl exposed to gross abuse neglect and the dark souls of addiction. When her mother dies, she contacts her father whom she’s estranged from. She moved into his house and falls in love with a local boy from the beach town. But as much as he’s good and caring to her, he is holding dark secrets of his own. When they unexpectedly catch up to him Beyah is left alone to suffer through heartache and has finally admitted that her mother is dead to her dad after living with him for the months she was in his home over the summer. The end of her story and the beginning of Samsons is so heartwarming and heavy I cried happy tears and was thrilled these two kids had finally found some good in life and it’s circumstances

1. Enlightened - This book was informative where bees were concerned. A bonus! Was enlightening to learn how children, as well as adults, grapple with family and friends’ reactions to their lifestyle. It was heartbreaking and loving. I will not reveal the surprising twist in the book as other reviewers have. I just recommend this book highly. As a grandparent, I learned how to react, speak with (should the need arise) to my grandkids if/when they are confronted with this type of situation with themselves or their friends. As a Christian, I will not judge, I will simply listen, accept and love.

2. So you think you know what trans youth need - First, this book (as you learn at the end from the authors) comes from both women wanting to speak their truth with a truly talented co-author. Their final, layered story will not only challenge whatever you think you know about other people’s choices and why they make them. The interwoven thread of bees lives and the use of their honey is fascinating! A must read!

3. LOVE LOVE LOVE - I read the reviews for this book after I had already bought it. And as a Christian, I had concerns about the transgender aspect of the book. However, I decided to try to read it anyways. I was pleasantly surprised when I fell in love with the book and ALL of the characters. This book perfectly portrays how we should love others for WHO they are and not WHAT they are. Highly recommend to any and all people.

4. Mad Honey - I learned so much about Transgender in this book! It was well researched and explained in a compassionate way! With grandchildren and great-grands it’s good information to have so you can help dispel ignorant opinions about people who are different! Thanks to Jodi Picoult and Jennifer Boylan for writing this!

5. What? (Spoiler alert) - I generally like Jodi Piccoult, and I did enjoy the deep dives into beekeeping and transgender issues, however, the resolution in this story is beyond incredulity. Totally out of left field to have the “best friend” of both main characters not only be the killer but to remain silent while her “best friend since I was six” gets arrested and tried for murder. Just No.
2023-02-18
6. Grabs your attention and won’t let go - I’m a fan of Jodi’s work and often grab her latest without reading the blurb, like I did with Mad Honey! It was super interesting and unputdownable from the fist sentence; and me having no knowledge of its subject matter made THE pivotal moment even more impactful! Really great characters and definitely a book club discussion must-read!
2023-02-04
7. Transgender Agenda - Mad Honey started out well, but was ruined by the woke, regressive, political agenda of transgenderism. It’s no surprise that “transgender” was not mentioned in the book summary as the authors and publisher knew it would not appeal to the authors’ primary audiences. The deceitful attempt to force and normalize this lifestyle on unsuspecting consumers is not only sickening, it’s evil. At least have the decency to give consumers the choice before they waste their hard earned money on a political agenda they don’t agree with or support.
2023-01-27
8. Mixed Review - If learning about a new subject (to me at least), I would give this book an A . Unfortunately I had the feeling that I was also reading a teenage romance novel. Since the main characters are teenagers, maybe that is to be expected. But I would have enjoyed learning more about Ava’s angst (Lily’s mother) learning that her son identified with being a girl at a young age and the decision to have surgery.
2023-01-11
9. Awful - If you want to read about a trans love affair go for it . But the timeline is confusing and ineffective, and the ending is predictable. As a side note, the authors clearly wanted to normalize being trans, but instead made a great case as to why it is dangerous medically to tamper with young adolescent hormones.
2022-12-22
10. Nope. - This book jumped all OVER the place. The timeline went from place to place to place all while writing from different characters perspectives. The “who dunnit” aspect was highly predictable and overall a huge let down. Most importantly, this book is really just a push to touch on every hot topic possible. While informative, it surely wasn’t believable or convincing.
