1. Excellent Book but Videos are Black - This is such a great book with detailed information about the SR/ right from the MFG. The visuals and examples are excellent and a very easy way to review procedures, settings etc. The only issue I have is that the videos are black. I don’t have any pop up blockers or anything like others have mentioned so once they are fixed, stars.

2. Great but no videos (yet) - Great content but videos don't work on my iPad. I've queried Cirrus and we will see if they respond soon. When trying to troubleshoot the video problem, I noticed a more recent release of the same ebook. I'm a bit confused by this; I presumed my version would be updated when necessary but maybe I'm mistaken. Not sure what the differences are or if I purchased the wrong one. :

3. Great User Experience and Great Content! - The great content is no surprise. Much of it is already available through the publications and online courses available from Cirrus, BUT this works offline, with all the multimedia content. It will be used every month to stay sharp. 4. Great book - UPDATE: It turns out that using a Safari Ad blocker Blocker causes the videos to not play. Just an FYI if you find the iBook not being able to play any videos. I sent a help request to Cirrus from the link in the book. The videos won’t play for me. I’m using an iPad Air . Maybe it’s just me, as I have not read others having this problem, but obviously I can’t give it a good rating considering the multimedia aspect of the iBook.

5. Well done and worth the money - Another quality product coming out of Cirrus. It only makes sense that they would transform pilot education and training the way they have transformed General Aviation. Clean, clear, concise and fun to use. Whether you are learning to fly a Cirrus airplane or have been a cirrus pilot for years this FOM is perfect for learning and refreshing your operational knowledge. Great example of what an iBook should be, contain and deliver.

6. Freaking Amazing!!! - This is by far the best iBook I've ever seen and most definitely the best training package (regardless of topic) I've ever used. Apple should feature this in their commercials as exactly what the iBook platform was really destined to be. Whomever designed and put this together should have their salary doubled!! I wish they'd build PPL and Instrument courses in this exact same manner and format. I'd pay double what I gave Sporty's for their iPad training app. The graphics, the videos, the organization of information. Just wow...

1. A MUST READ FOR ALL PILOTS - I have been involved in general aviation for over years both full and part time and have recently started flight instructing again. I have been following Jason Miller for the last few months and the level of content that he is putting out is incredible. This book is a must read for all pilots but should be an FAA requirement for all general aviation pilots! He takes the “standard” operating procedures from the pro “commercial” operators and all the years of “lessons learned” and makes a concise guide for how to structure your flying to operate in a much safer way. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED !

2. I Will Be A Safer Pilot Due To This Wonderful Resource - I am a year old IFR rated pilot coming out of a year hiatus. “Setting The Standard” has greatly sparked my thinking and made me a safer and more confident pilot. If only I had been exposed to this systematic way of approaching procedures earlier in my aviation instruction. The layout and multi media offerings that makeup this book are engaging and support various learning styles exceptionally well. I will reread and practice the concepts presented until they become my flying norm. To pilots considering the purchase of “Setting The Standard”, I cannot recommend this exceptional resource enough. 3. It WILL make you a safer pilot! - I’m a freshly minted private pilot working on my instrument rating with plans on continuing all the way to CFI. I came across Jason Miller going down the YouTube aviation rabbit hole during my PPL training (Flight Chops what’s up!) and instantly knew I had found an amazing resource. Standard Operating Procedures are a huge factor in what makes our airlines so much safer than GA. This book outlines some excellent ways to take what the airlines have learned and implement them into a GA setting. Operating an aircraft is no joke, and this book will give you the tools to be a safer pilot. Simple as that.

4. Update to the latest version - I am sorry to hear you feel the book did not meet your expectations. I intentionally used the multiple formats to better illustrate some of the concepts presented in the podcast throughout the years. Multiple ways to approach the learning … video, text, audio. The repetition is intentional. Typos and grammar were fixed in the last update. I want to be sure you know how to update to the latest version in ibooks. Its not as obvious as the app side of things but if there is an update for any of your ibooks there will be a notification in the top left of the ‘shelf’ view of your ibooks app. Then you can be sure you have the latest and watch for new updates as they come.

5. Disappointing - Based on listening to The Finer Points podcast, I had high expectations for this book. Unfortunately it seems to be nothing more than a compilation of information previously delivered in the podcast. Structurally it suffers as well inasmuch as the text restates what's presented in the embedded media files. Finally, it appears not have been proofread with multiple typos, grammatical errors and whole paragraphs repeated. A real disappointment; it really doesn't meet the standard I would expect from Jason.

1. Great Information for ALL Pilots! - I'm just about to take my private pilot Check ride and currently have about hours under my belt. I will fall squarely into the killing zone once I'm set free. This was good for me because it shows me the areas I need to focus on staying sharp. While many of the stories in here had me saying "Wow! I'd never do that!" I'm sure the pilots involved in the accidents said that at one point in their live too. I had planned to get my instrument rating already, now I'm even more committed to that goal. I may even get my commercial ticket as well. Never stop learning as a pilot, and it's less likely you'll find yourself in the killing zone. This book is a great place to start for pilots of all experience levels.

Book images are a disappointing - The price is the same as the paper back physical copy of the actual book… the info is all the same..BUT!!!…….. the pictures and diagrams (which have a lot of vital info) get cut off or the info goes black and u can’t read some of the very critical information.. I wish the images would just blow up with out changing tint or losing the text… other than that it’s great to use in place of the actual book… having it in a smaller package or in low light on the I pad is fantastic

2. The images are such low quality they’re unreadable - Absolute waste of money. I purchased this book so that I didn’t have to carry around that heavy paper copy one. I am so disappointed with this digital purchase, because the images are such low quality. It is almost impossible to use them. Additionally, the numbering of the pages in this book do not correspond with the wacky page numbering system that they use inside of the paper copy. The Contant is excellent, although it’s somewhat outdated.

3. Great Choice for New Pilots - If you’re goal is to earn your private pilots license then I would greatly reccomend this book. I have used other books in the past and this one really spells out everything you need to know. The book also has detailed illustrations/pictutes to train you. I have the edition and I am excited to continue my training since pilots are always learning!

2. Great study guide - Written in a very easy to understand and learn format. Photos are excellent, filled with explanations. There is even a lights and switches guide that is based on photos, instead of computer graphics. Much better! This is a must-have for anyone training on the A series. The perfect companion to the Airbus A Procedures Handbook by Ben Riecken.

4. Worth Every Penny - Just hired on to a US airline to fly the A. This book is a great reference that accompanies the study material given to us from the airline. Sure, they provide enough resources for you to be successful, but this book provides an excellent supplement for general reference! The high def pictures are an excellent bonus!

5. DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!!!! - I bought this thinking I would be able to get a head start on training at my airline. The entire book consists of only a brief synopsis of each system with some pretty pictures. One day with a real systems manual will prove this to you. There is no extra information of any value contained in this book. It doesn’t even contain info on the CFM engines!!! All of the other reviews had to be written by his friends. Buyer beware!!!!!!!

6. Excellent Work - Very thorough and well written. You can tell a substantial amount of time and effort was put into the research for this book. This contains a lot of great information that isn't really taught in ground school or by Airbus. This book bridges that gap without bogging down the reader with superfluous information. The pictures and videos embedded are of excellent quality; worth every penny!

7. Amazing - I just completed my transition to the left seat at a major U.S. Airline, and I have to say thank you. Having read this book, I had far more confidence and a deeper knowledge/understanding of many of the systems of the A going into oral. The pictures, illustrations, as well as the ease of reading was absolutely remarkable. I would, and will, recommend this book to any A new hire or upgrade pilot that wants to not only operate but seek a deeper understanding of the Airbus and how it works.

8. Great In-depth Book and System Guide - This book is filled with a plethora of system information, and would be a great addition to everyones library! The book is filled with in-depth items for the advance A- pilot as well as for those just wanting to learn more than what is found in the A- manuals. The illustrations and superb photo make for allowing the reader to visualize the many componites that we as pilots do not get to see often, if ever. 9. Extremely detailed and wonderfuly illustrated - Ben has done a amazing job compiling this book on the A series. The book is wonderfully illistrated with beautifuly clear pictures and videos. The text is very detailed and precise, allowing the reader to fully grasp the intricate systems. I have been showing this to every pilot I fly with and am recieving positive feedback. It’s a great guide to study for recurrent or just to keep up with during the year. I highly recommend.

10. Slick presentation and great information - Fantastic presentation of A systems. This book goes in-depth into every system without getting into minutiae that you wouldn’t find helpful while flying the airplane. It’s appropriate both for pilots studying for an A type rating as well as veteran ‘Bus drivers’ who want to increase their understanding of the aircraft’s systems. Easy to navigate and read with wonderful images.

11. A Must Read - This book is a must read for any current or future Airbus pilots. Having been taught how to fly multiple years ago by the author, I can personally vouch for his un-matched knowledge base and attention to detail. It is evident that an incredible amount of research gathered from multiple sources took place in making this interactive book possible. The pictures and diagrams could only be created by someone with regular access to this aircraft who is familiar with flying it on a day to day basis. Having spent the past four years at the regional pilot level, I just accepted my first job flying the Airbus A and already realize that this book is essential in having a successful training cycle.

Super hard to bounce around the book and there is no way to have one page after the other. It’s extremely infuriating. I have experienced this issue on the iPad.

2. Lots of Pictures!! - Personally, I’ve referenced this book for my own refresher training in the Da TDI variant. Now that I’m providing instruction in the Da I have my students purchase this book. Advantages: LOTS of pictures with explanations on nearly every page, Multi-Engine Transition section (all the info I need to teach the multi add-on), differences between the various ., . & NG, review questions (for homework or in class discussion)

3. The Concise Guide to the Diamond DA - I am the owner of a Diamond DA NG and been flying the plane for two years. Prior to the publication of this book there was no one place to clearly and concisely learn about all of the various systems and the practical flying of the aircraft. This book describes all of the systems and their application to the safe and successful operation of the DA and DA NG. It was invaluable to me in earning my multi-engine. I find that even after reading this book I am constantly using it as a reference when a question arises. While the POH is mandatory reading, this book should be as well for anyone flying the Diamond aircraft.

4. A must for flying the DA - As the DA manuals are available online from the manufacturer, why should you buy this book? This book does not approach the subject in the manner of a collection of engineers working to achieve certification. The author’s point of view is that of a pilot intent on training you to proficiently fly the airplane. Reading this book gives you a comprehensive understanding of the airplane and how to operate it. This concise guide - part of a popular series of books by the same author covering a variety of different aircraft - assumes you’re a current pilot approaching the DA as a trainer for a multiengine rating. Once you’ve studied other reference materials, such as the Airplane Flying Handbook, to gain a firm foundation in multiengine theory, the concise guide gives you the compact set of facts required to clearly understand multiengine operations generally, with specific examples using the DA. Also helpful here, for the beginner or the experienced multiengine pilot, is a quick rundown of considerations for takeoffs specific to multiengine aircraft using the DA as an example. I used the the concise guide to study for the FAA Commercial multiengine add on rating, making flash cards of the items in bold in the text in order to commit them to memory. For the “excellent” assessment of my performance on my hour oral exam and successful completion of the flight portion I owe a great deal to the concise guide to the Diamond DA.
