1. Good, but lacks venon - Great read if you were fan of the shows, but too much sucking up and wanking between some of the talent interviewed. Lots of people involved in the shows are missing, and we know there was much more drama behind the scenes than we are told. It does get more interesting in the end, where Warren is fired and he lets his interviewees trash Jeff Zucker. Best depositions come from Jerry Seinfeld, Jason Alexander and Lisa Kudrow.

2. Fun read - I watched at least % of the shows featured in this book, religiously. There was a time in which I was glued to the tv on Thursday night between :-:. And that's exactly what this book is about. Those great shows and the guy who made it happen. If you were on the same couch schedule as I was and you enjoy behind the scenes goodies like I do, then you'll love this book.

3. Just an amazing read! - If you just enjoy good television and remember Must See Tv on NBC this book shows you how it got there. I love the style of the book, feels like watching a documentary where different people all tell the story & so the perspective changes every paragraph. It does show how dumb executives are as well, and proves some of them have no idea what tv is or why people watch. It shows both the rise and decline of must see tv. It's showing the history that predicts what NBC did after Warren Littlefield left, and explains why they currently don't know what to do with good programming on the network.

1. Reaches its target audience, albeit a small audience - This is a real "inside baseball" type of book about late night TV. It gives real voice to the people involved, whether they're the hosts or the executives. If you were loyal to one particular host going in, you will still back your guy; you just won't have as much bile for the other party as you did before. It's not really a book you pick up just so you have something different to read. The target reader for this book is seeking specific information on late night TV, and this book fills its lanes quite well.

2. Answers Most Questions - I do not agree with Mr. Seinfeld. Conan did the right thing. Zucker was wrong. Leno is past his prime (whatever that was). I hope Letterman gives Conan The Late Show and then Conan can take his rightful place as the king of late night But what do I know, I'm just a viewer. Nobody ever asked me.

3. The Late Late Night - The battle for late night television supremacy may be a trivial matter to some, but Bill Carter does a masterful job of turning the battle among Leno, O'Brien, and NBC into a compelling read. For fans of late-night comedy, the final chapter is thought-provoking because it crystalizes how ultimately futile all the jockeying for power, money, ego, and career will seem ten years from now. Quite an entertaining read.

4. It's all business. No hard feelings ok? - Loved every page! The book was extremely entertaining and informative. It goes into great detail of how the whole Leno Conan Late Night show imploded. There are lots of inside information, some I found shocking, like Zucker exploding on the phone over Conan's agent. During the chapters of when Jay was placed back at : and Conan ousted, my fist were clenched and ready to punch every face at NBC for having no class. In the end, even though what Conan did was right, the main message of the book is that the Tonight Show had lost all meaning and that it's just a business. I still find it hard to believe someone as passionate about it like Conan could ever separate business from his love of the show.

5. Good, not great - A well written and researched story. A bit biased towards Conan's side of the story (and I'm a huge Conan fan), but overall it presents a good and fair account of what took place. My only issue with the book is that it veers off on tangents, such as presenting detailed bios on several other late night hosts, many of whom were not central to the story. Consequently, the book didn't flow as well as it should have, and I found myself waiting for it to return to the central theme: Jay, Conan, and NBC. The story could have been told in fewer pages.

6. Worth it for interested parties - Written by a journalist and reading like a very extended article it is hard for me to review. I think the writing was at times awful and the prose never suited me; but that said, this is such a well researched and interesting tale i was glad I read it. If you have an interest in late night network telly, network politics, or are a pretty diehard member of Team Coco; as I am; then I can recommend a read. Though it is at times trying to read, the story is one I am glad was told and happy I was able to read.

7. Awesome insight - Takes you into the late night wars, the ego's, misfires, and miscalculations that ultimately blew up in NBC's face. No one wins in this tale, but to Carters credit no one comes off as the hero or the villain. The book is even handed and everyone gets a fair hearing, even the executives at NBC who might have been expected to have had a better understanding of how you deal with talent, especially talent of this magnitude involving one of their most valuable programming properties. I recommend this if you enjoy an insider look at how business and especially the business of television works.

8. Why? - The fact that this turned into such an obsessed cultural phenomenon is ridiculous to begin with - because in simple terms it was about who got to be on a tv show...nothing more - the fact that the author would attempt to dramatize it to the point of calling it 'the war' is laughable. The writing isn't great and it was an event that happened a year ago and is now over - everyone has moved on. Except, obviously the writer and the mysteriously attached people (who are probably 'still with coco' on facebook) who cant let it go. balloon boy is more entertaining.

1. Interesting Read, Lacks cohesion - Pretty good history of the show. Often disjointed and not really following any particular path. The interviews seem to be just random quips that don’t necessarily flow into the next interview. I’m a huge SNL fan so it was must-read but left wishing it gave more.

1. Fame seeker - Typical book about a young woman seeking fame......claims she didn’t really want to sign up,to be on the bachelor.....but she did. Claims she refused to be on the bachelorette.......but she was. Claims she likes her privacy.......but goes on tv shows. Claims her first priority is her child.......but still runs all over the world seeking “love”. I have a strong feeling her deceased boyfriends parents don’t think too highly of her.....JoJo

2. Worth the read - Emily Maynard is quite possibly the primary reason I became a Bachelor/Bachelorette fan. Her beauty, class, and heart-wrenching story all combined to engage me in the best possible way. This book, so openly and humbly wrought, truly lets the light shine in all the right places. So beautifully crafted and such an uplifting story. It will bless countless people.

3. Love this - Thank you so much for sharing your story, Emily. I enjoyed reading about how you overcame some of the worst times of your life. I remember watching you on the bachelor and bachelorette and every time you came on you inspired me to want to be a better mother. Like you, I've had a strong faith and found it awesome that we share very similar viewpoints, morals and values. Thank you again for sharing your amazing story. So awesome that you found true love and have a life you have always dreamed of. You def deserve it

4. I said Yes - I first became a fan of Emily from Brad's season of the Bachelor, and was super exited when she became the bachelorette! So many people proclaim to be Christians, especially those in the public eye. Thank you, Emily for being the real deal, for being raw and honest. I see myself in you- lost, regretful and disappointed in the many times I've let God down. Though it was fun to get some inside tidbits on how the show works, it was your journey to completely surrendering to Christ that bought me to tears(ok, more like balling)and has given me hope. -Cleo

5. Quick read - I enjoyed reading "I Said Yes" and finished it in one night. I felt the plot was disjointed and did not flow well. For example, Ricky was talking about proposing, at his funeral, there was no mention of Emily, but later, he is referred to as his fiancé. It appears that Ricky never proposed. I did feel the book made Emily seem a lot more human and relatable than she has been portrayed by the media.

1. Essential Companion, Beautifully Done - This is a must for Downton fans! The well-organized book contains interesting chapters on how the upper classes and their servants lived in England before World War I. I found this historical and social context adding to my enjoyment of the production and I really appreciated all of the attention to detail taken by the producers. I also loved the book's plentiful photographs from the both the production and the real life people and settings that are the counterparts to the Downton world. Completing this essential volume, the book includes production notes and various cast members' recollections during filming. A very thoughtfully conceived viewers' companion!

1. Outstanding - I haven't felt this way about a modern paranormal investigation book in a while... We have our classics by Hans Holzer but this is the standard the new generation must live up to... I could write a novel just with how amazing this book is but I'll leave you with the short version: a MUST read for anyone wishing to enter the field of paranormal investigating

2. Great Book - This book was definitely an eye opener. I've been a fan of Paranormal State for awhile now, and this book opened my eyes to just how much they do for their clients.
It was interesting to hear the episodes from Ryan's point of view. He has a very nice style of writing and I hope he decides to write more books about his experiences.
My only complaint is that the book kind of started to drag in the middle. I sometimes felt myself yawning during his explanations of certain things because he was going into so much detail.
Overall a good book. Definitely don't regret buying it.

3. Thank you! - This book was amazing, of course anyone into Paranormal State or just the Paranormal itself will love all of the insight, thoughts, stories, experiences and details so often unable to make the cut of a minute episode. This group of investigators are so serious about what they do they deserve credit for the handwork they put into each and every case, unlike most people with their own TV show, they earned their recognition twofold.

1. Couldn't finish the book - Very disappointed. I couldn't even finish this book. I really thought this was going to be about David lettermans life as a whole but this book was just about the details of his show and back stories I found boring. If u want a book about the show this book would probably be great for you but if you are looking to read a book about the man this won't be for you.

1. Absolutely loved it. - A very insightful look at the people behind one of the greatest creative eras. The book celebrates their genius while also shining light on their problematic tendencies. It’s honest, informative, and the perfect read for casual fans, TV writer hopefuls, and any execs who wanna know how to do it right.

2. Recommended for any writer - The passages on Weiner, Chase and Gilligan alone are worth it. The sagging middle, with too much detail about lesser shows, can easily be skimmed. Highly recommended for anyone interested in how this era's unique intersection of art and commerce resulted in some of our finest contemporary stories and artists.

3. Enlightening Examination of TV's Third Golden Age - Great companion to The Revolution Was Televised which covers many of the same shows. What I found most interesting is that Difficult Men takes you into the Writer's Room where you see how these shows are intricately plotted by season, episode and even scene. Fascinating to the end.

1. Shocking and Revealing!!! - Americans need to leave the biased arena of sound byte media and read books, do research. Work hard to find truth because it’s the only that separates right from wrong! Truth matters. Being political is not going to save our political system. Taking an honest look at what’s going down and has gone down to get us where we are is what we need to do. Read! Read! Read! We need to spend more time caring about what is true and searching for it...based on facts, not feelings and personal bias. “Facts don’t care about your feelings.” —Ben Shapiro And this guy is one of the most painfully honest people I know in our culture. A very necessary voice in this day and age. Check him out!

2. "Prime Time" work by Ben Shapiro - For anyone who grew up watching TV, this book will be a real eye-opener. If you thought liberal messaging on TV was a recent phenomenon, the author's extensive research and interviews will prove just how long leftists have imbued programming with their ideology. Warning: some of your sacred cows (beloved shows you grew up with) will be hamburgers by the time you finish this book.

1. Springfield Confidential - The best and most accurate line in this book? “Alright, it doesn’t read funny.” Nothing did. The author may have written some funny lines for “The Simpsons,” but it was the voices that made them funny. Anyone else delivering those lines, and they’d fall completely flat. I was expecting to learn something about the show that was interesting, but all you get are embarrassingly bad attempts at humor. Sometimes pulling back the curtain on something you enjoy is a mistake. This book is a great example of that.

2. K is for comedy - I’m a th grade ELA teacher and a tried and true book nerd... so when I choose the palette cleansing books on my summer reading list, in between my deep dives into potential curriculum books with some awards-bait gravitas, I must find that seemingly oxymoron(ic) tome that is easily digestible and quick to read ... sort of like the fast-food burger that you can woof down, but doesn’t take a week to get out of your, um, system?..?.. Sorry Mr. Reiss I just had to try one pun in my review! This book is an absolute treasure for Simpson’s fans and comedy fans alike. Mr. Reiss is also very forthcoming about participating in a life well lived, which is something I think anyone could use time to ruminate over once in awhile. Kudos!

1. Great book but there are some mistakes - This was a good read that exposes and explains what many of us have been seeing in Hollywood over the past number of years and even decades before that. Although, I want to point out that there are some what looks to be honest mistakes. In one of the first few chapters you reference Stephen Colbert’s Our Cartoon President as being on HBO when it’s actually on Showtime. Also, in the chapter about crimes inspired by Hollywood, you inaccurately reference rapper The Game’s song “Dead People.” Being a former fan of hip hop I know about this material and you state that he released the song two days after the Sandy Hook incident which frames it as being insensitive to the situation but he actually recorded and released it before that incident happened. The incident happened on // but The Game released the song on /// as a bonus track on his album that released that day and a video was put out of him in recording that song. I understand talking about the violent subject matter the song and many other rap songs have but it was not released or created after the Sandy Hook incident as I’ve just explained so putting that in your book saying it came out two days after it happened trying to show it as insensitive to that situation is dishonest. These two examples of having inaccurate information in your book can cause some readers, such as myself, to question the accuracy of the other information and references you used. Outside of that, as previously stated this was a good read and I would’ve given it a / if it wasn’t for the issues I’ve just explained. Hoping you take notice.

2. The Truth Sets Us Free - I started out not knowing much about Mark Dice, other than a few videos he posts on Rumble.com. His book is riveting. He exposes the Hollywood elitists and their true colors. The level of control that the media and Hollywood has over content to brainwash TV watching sheeple is amazing. In the book, Mark not only shows the hypocrisy that Hollywood exhibits to blatantly lie to promote Socialism and in some cases Communism, but how they will not stick to their own rules. Rules for thee but not for me is Hollywoods credo. His take is brilliant and refreshing. I have since canceled my cable subscription, Netflix account, and Prime Video. Thank you, Mark, for exposing me to the truth.

3. Hollywood Propaganda - Mark, good research as usual at uncovering the dark truths that have been hiding in plain sight. You site every reference , instead of making the story up like our so called liberal news media journalists, or plagiarize over and over like a certain candidate running for office.

4. A cogent examination into the destruction of the fabric of modern America - Mark Dice provides a well-documented contemporary review of the unraveling of America’s moral fabric by the pervasive actions/behaviors of Hollywood, MSM and liberal ideas that seek to be accepted as the new “norm”. This reads like what Max Horkheimer, Theodore Adorno, Herbert Marcuse, Erich Fromm, Friedrich Polllock and others from the Frankfurt School who planted the first seeds of dissent against the values, customs and virtues of post WWII American society. Senator Joseph McCarthy wasn’t far off the mark with his red scare . . . unfortunately, Hollywood & the press was already controlled by a special interest group, as it holds true today.

1. The Year History - st Years - I absolutely hated and loved this book for blowing my mind about the Star Trek industry that I grew up with and have loved all my life. There is so much in-depth telling or recollecting from so, so many interviews with insight into so many aspects about the originating idea to trying to executives, cast, et al to rewriting (often, multiple times) to what we, the viewers, finally see as an end product. What a roller coaster of a read!
