1. Jaw dropping - I have read so many psychological thrillers and the twists are usually always pretty predictable. This book is, hands-down, the best twist I’ve ever read in my life. I never saw it coming . I literally had to put the book down for a minute when I read the beginning of the chapter with the twist because I literally needed a minute. This is my favorite book of all time and I made all my family and friends read it. Nothing will ever compare

2. Recommended - Yes I love this book, as shown from my rating! I understand it was written long ago, but I just figured out how to do this and I needed to get my energy about this book out! I was totally thrown a thousand miles from my idea of the ending. What a dang twist. I love it! To all the HATERS, I know it’s your opinion, but GOSH WHAT ARE YOU ALL SAYING! It’s so wonderful. xoxo k-

3. We were liars, but now we’re writing honest reviews - When in upstate New York, in a boho/cottage core themed room I’ve never seen before, surrounded by cats stretching out on the pillows, read a somewhat slow-paced book where the most interesting part is the setting imagery. I know that my generation is known for giving this book a bad rep on its ending, but I just want to say its not actually THAT bad, its just that my generation is the target audience and simultaneously rejects anything without a jaw-crushing, blood-curdling, book-chucking twist/ending. So, dear Lockhart, don’t take it personally, because your writing style is immaculate and I live amongst tireless romance fiends. (I may or may not also categorize myself amongst them, but I’m still on your side.) Honestly speaking, without the gorgeous detail to the setting and the different details that went into the piece as a whole, the book would never have been finished. HOWEVER, it did contain those things, and so therefore: REVIEW!!! I think that the author has the wrong target audience, because while the cover and the title seem very aimed towards gen-z and millennials, I don’t actually think (surprisingly) that we appreciate it as much as our parents would. The message is for all ages, in my opinion, so I think that the style of writing would more suit those who have the patience. I think that if the author wanted to improve upon their writing, they might consider more relevance to the twist being spread throughout the book. I feel many see it as random to some degree. But, of course, I am a year old high-school student who gets sick every rd business day, so it’s quite possible that this advice is about as useful as a mesh umbrella. Characterization:

4. Great book! - This book was amazing. Really well written. I gave four stars because I read it for the plot twist but halfway through I already knew what had happened. At least the main part of it. I knew, and I I didn’t know. I cried, and I didn’t cry. I understood, and I didn’t understand. I was there reading it, but was I really there? Lol

5. Breathtaking. - I have trouble often finding books that I like, this is the best book I’ve EVER read. This book single-handedly got me into reading more. I’ve seen a lot of reviews saying it was boring, too long, and overhyped but I beg to differ. And many people say the ending is predictable? WHAT!? I love e. Lockhart’s writing and storytelling style. Great book.

6. AAAAAAAAAH OMG - - WHATTTTT was that ending?!?! - ah, is THAT why they never answered her emails…. - GAT! NOOOOOO…. (and everyone else but especially GAT) - IM STILL CRYING AND I FINISHED YESTERDAY - but- what- how- summer ?! guess E. Lockhart is a LIAR too… - SO. SO. SO. SO. CONFUSED AAAAH! - i have head trauma also now. - I WISH MY WRITING WAS / AS GOOD AS HERS OMG

7. weird - I don’t know i feel like the story was too long and full of nothing and we got like pages of the plot twist. if you’re bored i guess read it… it took me a couple of hours to finish it and i do think this book is overrated i thought i would cry because everyone said it would but i was just overall confused about the whole thing. Would probably never read again.

8. Don’t quite understand the hype… - ./ Bookstagram definitely hyped this one up and I don’t quite understand why. Overall, this one was not for me and I feel like I had to use my brain more than I wanted to to understand where it was going. Halfway in, it took everything in me to not DNF. The last pages were MAYBE the best part of the book. Hence why I gave it an extra / star.

9. Good book - This book had a lot of good vocabulary and thought to put into the storyline. The plot twist was also very unprecedented which was very nice. It was a great story, and I especially loved the bonus drawings that were added in by the author at the end of original hand drawn maps and flow charts and such.

10. We were liars - It was amazing I would % read it again It take a big turn I was a bit confuse at the end it is overrated but you need to read it I love the author going to read more of there books and you will understand why it’s called we were liars I don’t really go towards these kinds of books but I might more I am dyslexic and I could understand it

11. Best Book Ever!!!! - This is the best book ever!!! I read it and I wish I could read it again for the first time!!! At the end I was shocked!!! Incredible!!! Spectacular!!! 12. plot & twists - i’m a type of reader who doesn’t like a too unrealistic love story filled with too much gooey romance. this book is perfect it added just enough romance with added suspense that kept me reading. i couldn’t put it down and i don’t really read books. the ending will leave you speechless and tearful and you learn to really love the characters. this is a great book to read especially for year olds who don’t like to read. this will keep anyone wanting more.

13. we were liars - all i can say is WOW! this book made me sob. i loved the entire book, absolutely fabulous. the way this book was written is amazing and heartbreaking at the same time. AND THE PLOT TWIST! i never would have guessed it in a million years, absolutely heartbreaking! i cannot recommend this more! fabulous read! /

14. Shocking ending - I promise that you will not see that ending coming. I like to guess in the beginning of the book what’s gonna happen or how it’s going to end and I was completely wrong. I personally thought that the book started off a little slow, but then once you reach the shocking part, you can’t put it down. Highly recommend for young adults!!

15. Tears - I found this book because of TikTok, and I decided to give it a try. It was known for its sad, unexpected ending and I was curious to see if it was good. The ending is so incredibly unexpected and depressing but so good at the same time. I never cry at the end of books or movies, but this one made me cry. Definitely worth reading.

16. SO INSANELY GOOD - I ran across this book on tik tok and I bought it but it sat on my shelf for a month. I finally picked it up to read and I finished it in less than THREE HOURS. It’s one of the best books I've ever read. The plot twist is one you'll never see coming. it literally does grip you from the start.

1. / romance novel - i would % recommend this book to any young adult readers. this book shows the struggle of an unfortunate situation and the power love can have over someone. this book is gorgeously written as is the sequel. this book is about a girl who suffers a near fatal car accident whilst everyone else in the car dies. she ends up in a coma and experiences a literal out of body experience, and now must decide whether she will stay and go on with life or end it all there.

2. OML this was sooo good - Okay I seriously loooooved this book but honestly it was kind of sad (SPOILER) like how she had completely NO ONE left in her instant family to celebrate her getting in to julliard. Like I’m not kidding abt this I almost cried (ANOTHER SPOILER) when she saw all her family sprawled gruesomely across the road . But above all that I still loved it. Very inspirational! What I find funny is that I didn’t even know there was a movie for this book. Honestly? I couldn’t really see anyone turning this into a movie. Idk why. But it was actually impressive. Y’all should see it, but definitely after u read the book.

3. Will Make You Cry - I read If I Stay because I had watched the movie trailer and decided to read the book before I watched the movie. I haven't yet seen the movie but plan to soon. The plot especially towards the end really tugs at your emotions and makes you think, what would I do if I had to choose? Mia is such an amazing character. She really tells you her story in a way that makes you feel sympathy for her. She is faced with an impossible choice, and this novel really changed the way I view life. Because Mia lost everything she thought she would have forever. Definitely recommend this book.

4. Fantastic - I personally really enjoyed the book, and makes me excited to see the movie. And once I found out there was sequel I was thrill. But personally the first one is better when it comes to plot. I see all these bad reviews saying how it had a bad ending or it was a cliffhanger but have Yall read the sequel I think not.

5. Disappointed - I bought this book and wanted to read it because the movie came out. I still haven't seen the movie since I like to read the books first. The entire book I had a lot of trouble keeping up with everything going on. There were a lot of flashbacks and the writing was choppy. I never felt emotionally attached to the book and then it ended so abruptly. I expected the story to keep going, but then there was nothing and I was left confused. The story itself wasn't terrible, I just feel like it could have been written differently.
2015-05-03
6. Amazing Idea, Poorly Executed - The concept for this book, in my opinion, is great. If only it had been excecuted better. I was bored. I felt no emotional connection to the characters and I couldn’t get past the words and actually into the story. The ending was abrupt and left me wishing there was more there. This could have been an amazing story. But, sadly, it is not.
2015-03-17
7. THERE IS A nd BOOK - I just I should clear this up for all the people who are giving it a bad review because of how it ended!! There is a nd book called Where She Went. It's what happens after she wakes up. Although it's in Adam's POV. Both books are amazing. I just because you don't like a ending, it doesn't make the book bad. Do some research before you make a review. If you want to know what happened to Mia read the nd book.

8. loved it! - i bought this book in a store because i love holding a book more than holding a phone or whatever but i have seen the movie and might i say the book is much better. i bought the collection & i am now starting the second book now. yes the ending ends very abruptly i still think it was an over-all outstanding book in my opinion. definately recommend reading 'If I Stay'

9. EVERYONE DONT GET THIS! READ BELOW!! - Okay. I love this book. But it's roughly $ on here. Right? Well. If you download the "kindle" app and the "Amazon" app. You can buy the books (kindle edition) on Amazon and they appear on the kindle app. You can get these apps on any thing. Not just the kindle. Now. You are probably wondering "why would I download apps and make accounts, just to buy a book when I could get it on here?" And good point. However, the books on Amazon are only $-$! Not $! But whatever. Your choice. Waste your money. Not my problem...

1. Absolutely Stunning I cried...... - My daughter passed away at years old. It almost killed me to go on, to accept what had taken place for not only myself but my loved ones. It was such a horrible life of denial and confusion perpetuated by my own mind. I constantly belittled my self for not being stronger for not accepting this horrible tragedy. The stories in this book touched my heart because as I read I realized I am doing exactly what I am supposed to do in light of the situations presented to me. I was so lost and I have always attempted to reason with myself that I am okay. This book made me feel like I can be honest with myself that I may never be okay with what has happened but I am going to have to accept it.

1. The ending - Why did they have her have the baby knowing she’s a crank addict. It’s basically telling young girls that abortion isn’t an option. Especially the whole feeling the baby knowing that baby was a fetus. She should’ve let the baby go. I feel like so many sources told her to keep it so that’s why she did. I feel like she didn’t do it because she wanted the baby. She just did it because people around her placed it in head that that was the best option for her. So she had this thought in her mind and since she still had crank in her system that’s why she thought she felt something and thought to keep it. In so many ways I feel Ellen Hopkins could’ve made glass a sequel to it from the perspective of Bree going through the abortion. But then again maybe the sequel would’ve lead to the idea of abortion not being the correct option. Idk it’s all just so fast that I feel it didn’t give Kristina/Bree the story she deserved.

2. I don't know the billing stuff - I don't know how to purchase a book on here. I have $ on my card and is already redeemed, but everytime I go to purchase the book, I get a thing on my billing info to my house. I was hoping since it was an apple product, I'd be able to use my itunes card. Can someone please verify that it would be able to use my itunes card and not have it billed?

3. Love it!!! - I love the Crank series because I am able to relate to everything, minus a few differences, that is said in these books. I recommend these books to anyone who has had someone in their family or themselves addicted to speed! Love this book! I've read it several times and it never gets old to me! A

4. Its good... Not Great - I can see how this book would be amazing for teenagers. I would have loved this book back in highschool and even though ive never done anything like crank, it would have been much easier to relate then it is now. I love how its writen, and its very creative, but i feel like more substance could have been added to it... All in all id say its a quick easy read and worth a look!

5. Amazing - By far one of my favorite books. I didn't appreciate it as much though until I was finished with it. The best in the whole series and confusing at some points. The structure was done marvelously and I've never read a book that was set up as thoughtfully as Hopkins has. If anyone wants to read a disturbing book on teenage adolescence this would be it. I also recommend reading its partner book, Glass.

1. Ari is a interesting and insightful protagonist - Really liked this character and his voice! Such a well written and developed character, with flaws and strengths alike. He felt real and relatable to me, although I am neither a boy or teenager. Overall, I liked the characters but felt like the ending and second half was a bit rushed and undercooked. Definitely demands a reread to really parse the nuances of the storytelling.

2. Cute - I feel this book could’ve been at least stars if not for the writing style, which I just couldn’t vibe with. It read too juvenile for a book that was aiming to be somewhat philosophical, to the point where it felt shallow. I really enjoyed the characters’ relationships, even if the dialogue felt incredibly awkward and unrealistic. But still very cute.

3. Makes you think - As a year old Mexican-American kid, I found this book incredibly relatable. Sometimes it takes a good book to make you realize that you’re not the first, nor last person to feel a certain way. This book made me think about a lot of things and it’ll probably stay in my heart for a long time. Do I recommend? Heck yeah.
2021-07-05
4. Amazing - This book really had me crying Ari and his relationship with is family, especially his father, was something that I could really relate to I loved how his relationship with Dante wasn’t all “everything is always okay with us and we never fight!” They weren’t boring which was great In all I have absolutely fallen in love with this book and it will probably become one of my unhealthy obsessions

5. Best Book I’ve Read this Year - I don’t cry when I read books. I just don’t. I’ve actually been looking for books that would supposedly make one cry. I saw this book on one list and chose not to believe it. I wasn’t expecting to be wrong. I wasn’t expecting to have my heart broken and healed and taken apart and put back together again. I wasn’t expecting to relate so much to the characters’ experiences, to have their pain mirror my own so intimately. I can’t really name a problem I have with the book. There are some things to consider before reading it: transphobia, homophobia, internalised homophobia, violence. The story is masterfully written. I love this book with every part of me.

6. Begging you to read it - This piece of literature is one of the best things I’ve ever gotten the chance to read. The characters felt so real and relatable that they could be sitting right next to you. I, especially, felt so close to Ari. His struggles. His fears. His worries. And Dante, sweet and caring Dante. I love him an incredible amount that I can’t imagine how it must feel for Ari, who I bet loves him even more than I do. One of the things I love most about this book is the parents. They’re everything I wished to have but didn’t get. They’re not the best, they’re not perfect— but they’ll always be there for their children, no matter what. God I love this book so much.

7. I’d give more stars if I could - - Favorite book so far, which is a big statement. But I loved all of it. The mundane things that make you smile, yeah it was full of it. The dry humor and sarcasm. Actually witnessing the characters grow through text. The realness of how we see ourselves at our teen years. The way the words flowed from my eyes through my chest to the tips of my fingers. It made me happy, so incredibly happy and detached from the world while simultaneously loving and feeling connected to it. The parents, oh god the parents. The freaking tension!!!!!!! Once it picked up, I could not put down. Finished in - hours

8. You wont be able to put it down - I don’t review books very often, but I think this I’ll make an exception for this one. I read the whole book in just a couple hours and I almost cried (Or maybe did a little) a thousand times. I loved the ugly of the story and I loved the beautiful and so will you.

9. So lovely - Beautiful. I didn’t stop crying. The book had so much compassion, and really showed a wonderful coming of age story as well as figuring out one’s identity and place in the world and place in other peoples worlds. And it had love. Love love love. I’m overwhelmed. I really liked this book.
2020-04-12
10. Simply Beautiful - As soon as I got this book, I sat down and read. I finished it at am last night and wow, this book is indescribable. I don’t hesitate saying its one of the best if not the best book I’ve ever read. I’m definitely going to reread. If you’re ever lost, afraid, doubting yourself, or even just bored, I absolutely recommend this book. You find yourself in Ari and Dante and you fall in love with the two boys. I personally struggle with a lot of self doubt and I think this book made me reflect on myself. The words hit deep. This book made me feel something.

11. Beautiful, passionate, dreamlike. - This book...where do I start. This book is a stunning work of art. It takes us on a journey through the hormonal struggles of year old Ari, who so deeply loves another human being, but is unable to admit it due to social stigmas that have been engrained in him. The author weaves a tale of self-discovery that we can all relate to, LGBTQ or otherwise. But what’s important to notice, is that we finally have a gorgeous, realistic story of what it means to fall in love, and to overcome the pressures of a closed minded society. Finally.

12. AMAZING - I cannot even begin to explain how much I'm in love with this book. I definitely recommend reading this book! I've read it five times and each time I just fall more in love with it, it's a book that I will never grow tired of and is definitely one of my all time favorites. The story of Aristotle and Dante will always be my favorite I think.

13. No Shame - This book made me comfortable enough to come out publicly. This book showed me that there was no shame. This wonderfully, gorgeously written book, full of amazing themes of love, family, friends, race, sexuality, this book just amazes me, I've read it times already. I wish I could personally thank the author for this beautiful book, but I guess for now this will have to do.

1. This Book Changed My Life - I was sad, depressed. Not suicidal, though. I'd considered it a few times, just abstractly. This book made me realize that suicide is not the way to go, too many people would be affected. This book made me laugh, gasp, and cry. This book has literally changed my life, for the better. Thank you so much, Ellen Hopkins.

2. Beauty engraved in promising novel (; - This book was perhaps, if not, the MOST amazing and inspiring novel I have ever read. I've always been insecure with myself and have wanted to end my life many times. However, I found comfort in books and when i came across this novel, everything found a way to work in harmony. Some of my questions were answered through Ellen Hopkins' words, and I found a sense of comfort, peace, and acceptance. This book has changed my way of thinking for the better. And it is true, change is inevitable. We just have to change for the better. I truly admire Ellen Hopkins and she doesn't fail to move me ever. God Bless such an amazing soul (;

1. ...perfection.. - This book truly completes the trilogy that this wonderful author started by writing Crank. She not only shows the effects of addiction on the person who makes that choice, but everyone else it affects. Fallout is amazingly written and impossible to put down. 1. Counting by ’s - At first, I thought this was going to be a sad book with no lessons but I thought I’d try to read a sad book anyways. Well I was wrong this book is not just a sad book it’s a life changing book. A girl named willow chance is adopted but all of the sudden her parents die. Through the story her counselor Dell, and her friends and mother kept her safe. However she still trying to find guardians. Not only is this book a lesson to humanity it’s a work of art. I highly recommended. Thank for your time.

2. This is an outstanding piece of literature - Wow. I loved this book very much. I am twelve years old and I found this book very enjoyable. It taught a few life lessons and I was just crying reading it. It is very outstanding and made me want to read it every chance that I got. It was a really outstanding book and just thank you for writing it I give the author a standing ovation. Wow. Thats all I can say is just wow.

3. I just can't get into it. It wasn't bad but for me it was 'meh' - I'm sorry, but this book just moved too slow and I could not get into it. What I mean is that usually when I read a book I get totally sucked into it and I literally CAN'T put it down. This one was different. I could not relate to any if the characters. I felt like the topic of her grief (and NO I am not being insensitive. I really feel bad for people who do have to go through losing their family like that. I just felt like that part was too long) just kept going and going. It wasn't bad but it was not my favorite. I could not really feel connected to Willow or Mai or anyone. Also, some of the plot didn't seem to make much sense. I enjoyed some of it but it did not thrill me.

4. Couldn’t put down! - Counting by ’s is by far one of the greatest books ever written. I couldn’t put it down for hours. It may be a bit sad, but it teachers you lessons. GREAT LESSONS. It made me more appreciative of what I have. Some people just live in tiny cramped garages, of which have no privacy whatsoever. And I have a whole room in which I complain that I don’t have enough space. I don’t anymore because of this great book. I am lucky enough to have a whole network of people in my family, unlike Willow Chance. It gave me facts I otherwise wouldn’t have known, like that lady Lemurs are in charge of the pack. I’m adopted myself, and I deal respect to Willow.

5. To anyone who reads this... - If you don’t like this (or any) book, can you at least tell us why it is “pointless”? Logical people might recognize that if you don’t give reasons for your opinion, you look like a stupid person who goes around writing negative reviews about books without reading them. Another pet peeve of mine is when I read a review that the rating doesn’t reflect. When you write the review without the correct rating, it brings down the average rating of the book itself. I find these two things in reviews very annoying and I am sure others do, too. I just want to know why people don’t think through what the they are writing. On another note, I am listening to the audio book and I am very intrigued. If you read the description of the book, it perfectly describes it. The plot is interesting and touching and I am starting to feel more appreciative of what I have, even if it isn’t an extreme amount. Knowing that some people live in cramped garages, it makes me feel like having my own room is a much greater privilege than I previously thought, although my room is a walk-in closet. I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone, especially those dealing with loss or some crisis, internal or external. This book is not “pointless” like some people think. I can relate to Willow, Mye, and Guung-Ha. I live in a small apartment, not as cramped as Patty’s home, and I have lost some in my family, and a day has never gone by when I don’t think of them, and I bet Willow feels the same. This book may not be action packed, but is amazing and pretty deep for a children’s book and I think everyone should read it.

6. Great - I believe the book itself is decent. The character development is very nice but at the same time it feels like there is something missing. After reading it though I started seeing things in a different way and became more greatful about my surroundings. The sudden change between rd person and st person can become a little confusing at times for some people which is also another reason why I gave this four stars. I liked how they featured translations for some of the Vietnamese in this book, it was very helpful for somebody like me who can’t understand Vietnamese. The ending was slightly disappointing but otherwise go ahead and read it. (The story is great but it’s the writing itself that I’m not a big fan of but otherwise it’s a great book)

7. Not my type - So, I get it. Girls are smart. (I should know. I'm also a girl.) But that doesn't mean that people's lives revolve around seven and plants. This is book is pointless. Again I say pointless. The characters are unappealing. It made me uncomfortable, talking about fat people. And the things they talked about, I mean really..

8. Beautiful story filled with Life Lessons - Counting by s was honestly not the best written book, but the story was really beautiful. It was one of the best and most meaningful books I have ever read. I had to read this for school and to be honest, when i started it, I thought it was going to be awful. But, when the book’s plot started to build, it was a life changing story (about friendship, trust, loyalty, and love.) Again, this story is a gorgeous one, and I would reccomend it to anyone.

9. Counting by 's - This book is one of the greatest books i have ever read. I think that it is not only for young adults, but for adults too. This book really shows you emotion. When writing a book you need to connect with your reader. This book really did connect with me. This book will not leave anybodies eyes dry, boy or girl.

10. Not a fan in the slightest - This book was seriously lacking in flow, tone, direction and execution. Some of the storytelling techniques of this author did not make sense, and a few were grossly frustrating. The leading lady in this story, Willow, is likable enough, and she has some shining moments in the story, but she is casted in a world that is all about her, about people who have nothing better to do than to focus their lives around her, and a set of parents that only serve as catalysts for sadness. It’s unrealistic and downright dumb. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

11. Love - Love, love, love this book. It made me feel, even though it is opposite of what I teach my students. There is not a lot of descriptive words, but I felt it anyway. I wish I had this book in my wheelhouse two years ago when one of my students lost both his mother and father within six months of each other!

12. Very slow moving book - I know Counting by s probably isn't supposed to be an action-packed book, (it wasn't), but it could have a little bit more excitement, or some humor. It was definitely lacking in suspense, humor and a good plot. The characters were not appealing, there was nothing to make me want to keep reading. I was very disappointed with Counting by s, and found it rather boring.

1. possibly the best book i’ll ever read - Yes, I mean it. It’s so well written that I’ve gone back and read it multiple times, sometimes just flipping to a random page and diving back in. It’s colorful, exciting and entirely original. It’s not YA, not a love story—yet it’s both of those things.

2. Favorite book ever - My absolute favorite book, without a doubt, of all time. You know that question, “If you had to eat one food for the rest of your life, a food that you’d never get tired of, which food would it be”? Simply put, rephrase the food question in book form and this book is that book for me. Every word is worth the read, even the heartbreaking parts that make you have to close the book and calm down before you can open it again. So much of this book can snatch your breath out from underneath you, but this book not only takes your breath away, it also gives you a fresh breath of spring that you never knew you could get from a book. / would recommend.

3. So beautiful. I couldn’t put it down. - This book was just such a rollercoaster for me personally. It had all those small moments that warm your heart and soul, that I’m just a sucker for. The perfect amount of face palmable and suspenseful mistakes that make the characters sooo human. And the right amount of emotion that makes you feel all the feels over and over again. The ones that make you cry but hoping for the best. This book made me fall in love with these flawed and carefully created characters. I don’t have enough words to explain to you how I feel. Other than, read it.

4. A lovely story - I don’t think I’ve ever read a better book in my entire life. Beautifully written, I was captivated by ever word and sentence. Jandy truly is a phenomenal writer. NOTHING but good things to say about this book. I’m beyond grateful I took a shot at this book. Love Jude and Noah!

5. Four years and it’s still my favorite - I got this book my freshman year of high school, I bought the paperback version at target and started reading it and finished it in two days. This book is so beautifully written and thought out, the time frames and the amount of work I can tell was put into this is beyond incredible. This author will forever hold my respect for being able to create something that uses art in such a beautiful way. I’ve recommended five people to this book and each person fell in love with it.

6. Wow - Oh wow. Oh wow. I was expecting heartbreak at the end, or an unfinished plot, but I'll Give You the Sun really summed up everything in the most simplistic way possible that you have to read it twice before having a seizure. If you have time—even if you don't, give this a really dedicated read. You won't regret it because Jandy Nelson will break your heart and make you cry, but she'll also make you smile in the middle of the night and crack you up so you're lying on your side and rolling around on the carpet (or maybe that's just me.) NoahandJude forever.

7. AMAZING WRITING! - This is just a story about the good and bad things in life, but it’s told so explosively. The writing is amazing in my opinion. I felt, saw and lived every scene. I was teary. I was smiling. This book removed me from my world completely while I read it and left its feelings behind after I finished it.

8. Must read - Whether it be family issues, slelf-discovery, the journey through love or just everyday hardships this book will hit every corner and give readers something to relate to. From the minute I picked it up I couldn't set it down and found myself reading it front to back and practically underlining every word. With each turning page I was on the edge of my seat and practically in the brink of tears. Each character is wonderfully written and you can feel every emotion as if you were experiencing it yourself. I'll Give You The Sun will send you searching for a love that'll make you feel as if you'll burst into flames. It would be a shame to miss out on such an amazing book.

9. Just Simply...Amazing! - Ok so this book bored me at first. It literally took me like forever to read it...but I'm so glad I did. It was beautifully written. The way the story collides at the end it's just absolutely amazing. I loved it!!!! I would recommend it to anyone who understands that there is always more to a story than just your side.

10. A Work of Art - It's been months since I've read this gift and I still can't stop taking about it. Some may think the metaphors to be unrealistic and a tad overbearing but, personally, as a thirteen year old I think quite similarly, I am pretty mature though. This book had me crying before the fiftieth page and I don't think it's spell will ever fade. I'll Give you the Sun is one of my most appreciated things on earth and I strongly urge you to read it.

11. Indescribably, Heart-Warmingly Amazing - To say this book is spectacular is an understatement. It is truly eye-opening, beautifully written. This book will undoubtedly be etched into your memory and your thoughts long after you've finished reading it. It is that breed of literature that makes you unendingly happy that you were lucky enough to find and experience it, to experience the characters and the raw emotions they felt. A must-read for everyone.

12. Just buy it right now. - This book is absolutely remarkable. There is not one thing negative that I could say about it. To some people it may seem a bit confusing but if you don't give up on it, you pay attention, and you allow the story to come to life in your mind you will understand its brilliance. I have read hundreds of books, but this one is up there with the best. So thoughtfully crafted; every seemingly irrelevant detail is significant in bringing the story together. I also love the way it's written, just the word styling and voice really speaks to me. A MUST read for sure.

13. Good to get lost in - Although it starts off slow and takes a while to get used to the artist-world I wasn't familiar with, the rest of the story is worth it. The characters all have very deep relationships with one another that kept me wanting to read more and reflecting on my own life. As a bonus, there is FINALLY an ending to a book I'm happy with!

14. Wow. - This book was sooo good. I love Jandy Nelson's writing style and am super excited to read her other novel, The Sky is Everywhere. Being a twin, there are a lot of books about us that are not at all accurate, and she nailed Jude and Noah's relationship. Like, perfectly. She really got into the minds of both of them, which isn't easy because she is an adult writing from a child's perspective. I love how she had each twin telling their side of the story at different points in their lives. She took many risks in this book and they worked together beautifully.I highly, highly recommend this book. I was left stunned by it. Just, wow.

15. True art - This book is like art personified into words. The imagery, the hyperbole that wasn't hyperbole. I wish I thought like this, saw like this. The delivery also very clever, cliff hanger, anxious to know both stories and everything at once. I didn't want it to end but also needed that ending. So amazing. Thank you!
2015-03-09
16. oh. my. gosh. - this book can't really be described in words. it's like a sarah dessen book, but added with BEAUTIFUL metaphors and words. and believe me, the metaphors aren't so ironic as the ones in TFIOS, but they are real. if you love rainbow Rowell or sarah dessen I think you will LOVE this book. It is a work of art, and yes there is some offensive language in the beginning, but if you keep reading, you understand that it is supposed to set the tone of that moment. I loved all the characters so much, and a lot of times I wanted to just give Noah, Jude, Brian, or even Guillermo a hug and tell them everything was okay. I love this book so much.

1. Dont listen to the negative reviews - I saw some negative reviews and I was hesitant to buy this book but knowing me, every time a book has negative reviews I end up being in love with it despite them. so I read it anyway. And of course I was not disappointed. Sarah Dessen delivers again. Amazing book. So amazing I read it in a day. Highly recommend.

2. - This book was really good and relatable. I loved how the Sydney was realistic and had some flaws bc I just hate when the main character is completely perfect. It’s annoying!!! But let’s be honest, it was kind of slow at first, so that’s why I only put four stars. But I loved how the story was created and the ending awesome!! :)

3. Mind numbing my boring - Let me start out by saying Sarah dessen has been one of my top favorite authors for years! But this book was painful to read, nothing ever actually happens that wasn’t completely predictable and the character has no real personality. I would recommend any of her other books especially this lullaby! She’s a wonderful author just please save yourself the time, I tried to finish the book and eventually gave it up

4. A long arduous journey that was slow - In Saint Anything, the story was character driven. The story focused on two families that had family issues. It was these issues that brought forth change. With change their was self discovery. Change was a monumental element in this book as each character was given attention in the area of change. Sarah went overboard with illustrating the changes in all these characters. Because this story was character driven Sarah took the time to showcase each and every character in the book by creating separate stories about each and how they were affected by issues. The process was tiresome to read. Towards the end it became a chore to read. Saint Anything had complexity while exposing the various ways characters change. The family issues were common issues handled differently. The self-discovery at growing and learning was slow. The story had a lot of information to process. The biggest factor in this book to consider was that all families have issues yet the way some families handle those issues separate themselves from other families.
The component that stuck out most was Sydney feeling invisible in the same room as her brother. This transferred into her everyday life. In all this mess was a great message but the delivery was slow and muddled with too many everyday issues. This wasn’t my favorite Sarah Dessen book. I felt no connection to anyone of these characters. I kept waiting for something pivotal to take place. The way the story concluded was disappointing, it felt like a cliffhanger.

5. Captivating - This book was pretty different from others that Dessen has written; yes there is the classic love story of the innocent girl falling in love with the (usually older) boy, but the sense of friendship, family, and shat it truly means to belong, makes this a very powerful and emotional story. The focus of the book being on Sydney's troubled brother and her relationship with her parents and the rest of the world around her makes this an excellent read. Highly recommended!
2017-07-22
6. Bringing Real Stories to Life - Sarah Dessen's characters are flawlessly crafted to be likable, despite their quirks and history. I found myself drawn into this story of a young girl who struggles to be seen amongst her family, but dodging judgment and guilt from her community. Her brother, Peyton, made mistakes and is paying for them in prison, but Sydney could not get rid of her own guilt-by-association. This is a fabulously real story of a girl's experience with loss, shame, dysfunction, and finally acceptance. I didn't want the story to end, though Dessen ended it perfectly.

7. :) - I was a bit hesitant to read her new book, as a lot of them center around the plot of girl meets boy and so on. This one however shocked me. It was one of the greatest books I have read in a while. The way he deals with the guilt of what her brother did and the way she tried to get her parents to understand she was not her brother was amazing. The romance mixed in was great because it had the right amount of build in it. It didn't just start with her meeting THE one. Overall, my favorite of her books and would read again.

1. One of my new favorite mysteries!! - This book was super twisty turny and kind of unexpectedly sad. I only put four stars bc the first hundred pages were deathly boring and really hard to get past. But it started getting interesting after that. It kind of reminded me of “Famous Last Words” by Katie Alender bc the real murderer is someone completely unexpected. I love a good mystery and u will too if u give it a chance! WARNING The first few hundred pages r so boring, they r toxic!! (May not apply to all readers)

1. Touching and heart warming - I have a personal connection to the characters, and because of that, this book made me laugh, it made me cry, it made me feel mad, and it made me feel so many different emotions. I love how the story’s told from people point of view, and how each person is different in their own unique ways, from chewing on straws, to talking nonstop. If you haven’t read this book, then you have NO idea what your missing.

2. Amazing - This book is amazing! I laughed, I cried, and I felt such an insane connection to the characters. I really felt like they were my siblings too (even though I don’t know what that feels like, I’m an only child). I couldn’t stop reading, I had to know what would happen. This book is an emotional roller coaster, but you feel so connected to the characters and feel like you’re experiencing the ups and downs with them. Highly recommend, it’s so good!!!!

1. WOW.. Just wow - Okay, don't be fooled by the pictures. I have always read at very high level (in th grade I read at a HS junior's level) and when I originally picked up Selznick's first book (at the time I was around ) I was a little turned off judging that the book had so many pictures. But boy was I wrong, in my opinion The Invention of Hugo Cabret & Wonderstruck are such wonderful, wonderful books. I truly love Brian Selznick as an Author and hope you will too.

1. Reading it backwards made it better - If you just want to read my review, then scroll down . But I’m going to go off on a small tangent here first, because I feel like I should explain myself: So as previously mentioned, I read this book backwards (literally). I started at the end and read each chapter in reverse order (don’t judge me, I had my reasons). Admittedly, this was an experiment. Partially because I was just curious. Primarily because of the way I read, I often find myself rereading previous portions in order to fully understand what I just read. But also, I find that I enjoy books more when I know where they’re going. Not necessarily knowing the ending, but the comfort in knowing that things are happening for a reason, that it’s leading to something, and the writing isn’t just aimless (cough ACOTAR cough). And honestly, I think I liked it better. If I had read it normally I’d probably be criticizing this book as another unoriginal YA novel trying too hard to be original. In my experience, YA novels are incredibly boring early on. But by starting at the end, all the good parts happened at the “beginning”, and did a much better job of holding my attention “later” in the book. On top of that, it was rather interesting to jump right into the action, and then work backwards to see how they got there (like my own little version of Momento). Review
So yes, this is yet another YA novel riding the coattails of Black Panther. But what I like is that War Girls doesn’t try to hide it, and instead was its intention all along. Between its characters, setting, and advanced technology, War Girls knows that it’s basically copying Black Panther, but to a point were it’s more of an homage than a rip-off. "She can’t waver now. Not when everything that has happened has finally caught up to her. The murder of her family, her life with the Biafran War Girls, her kidnapping, her time with the Nigerians overseeing the separation of families and the detention of children dubbed “enemy combatants,” her time in prison when she had lived as an accused traitor, her attempted assassination of the person who slaughtered her family. All of it has been leading to this moment." (Going back to reading it backwards, this segment gave me quite a bit to look “forward” to.) Just like any other YA fantasy, War Girls is slow in the beginning, predictable in the end, and mediocre as a whole. There’s no x-factor or wow-factor here, and nothing that hasn’t already been done before to make it standout in an already over-saturated genre. But where I will give it credit is, in comparison to other YA fantasy, War Girls is pretty nonstop. As mentioned in the excerpt, lot happens throughout the story, and they come almost one after another with little downtime in-between. It does a good job of keeping you on edge, but once you get about halfway through is when things really get interesting. Alliances are made and broken, scenes of mass destruction, body augmentation, hover bike chases, and if anything, War Girls offers a unique perspective on futuristic terrorism. Typically, I don’t recommend reading a book backwards, but I was really curious. I knew what kind of book this was, and knew I wouldn’t have liked normally. It worked out pretty well, but I doubt I’ll be doing it again (except for maybe the sequel, just because ).

2. Amazing! Sheds light on a part of history that isn’t talked about enough - I don’t even know where to begin. So let’s start at the beginning. I was super excited for this book. Literally thrilled that I got it and early. And then it took me a week to finish, but I was completely enthralled and addicted. There was so much going on, and I absolutely loved every second, even though it did take me longer than it should have. I knew nothing about the Nigerian Civil War, but man am I going to find out! Wins: -the unlikeable characters so unlikeable, but so redeemable. I will be honest, I hated Onyii at times, but that just made me love her more. And Ify. She annoyed me so bad, but crap did I love the crap out of her! -the action. So. Much. Action! There were few filler chapters where nothing happened, and I absolutely loved it! Everything happens fairly quickly and you’re roped in immediately! So freaking good! -the interludes between parts. Yes! I loved them! I wanted Enyemara to find Onyii or even Ify. And when she was about to die, my heart was literally breaking! What a good side-arc for this book! -the heartbreaking moments. I’m the type of person who doesn’t get emotional when people die in books. It’s expected for the genre that I read, but there were so many deaths that genuinely tore me apart and I had to take long breaks from it! -the authors note, and the history lesson. LOVE LOVE LOVE. I knew nothing, and now I know so much! Thank you for that! Opportunities: -not a whole lot of description. I have no idea what anybody actually looked like. Which was a huge let down. We got a lot of facts about how young they were, what color their hair was and what robotics they had. But no description of them. -I just read pages of amazing technology but I have no idea what any of it actually looks like. Mechs. No idea. They were mentioned a lot, but from what I gathered, they’re giant fighting robots that the cyborgs power with their own bodies and they can feel pain -the authors note at the end and not the beginning. I’m just picking at straws here. I would’ve loved that in the beginning, but it’s absolutely an amazing authors note In conclusion. Yes this book is absolutely insane. Prepare to have a love-hate-love relationship with absolutely everyone, and be prepared to feel super emotional over some of the characters. I loved every second, and am already psyched for re-read! Incredible book!

1. Overall great book - It was really good, I couldn’t put it down. However, I feel the book was leading up to something that never happened. I get how Jenny Moore was kinda there to help Dade realize thing about himself or whatever but I feel that could have been accomplished through something else. Also this is just me but I feel the names were a bit generic. Overall great book though!

2. The vast fields of awesome - The vast fields of ordinary is a must read. The story keeps you interested and there are lots of unexpected twist. This story shows that love isn't always enough. I believe every gay guy, lesbian, or bisexual person can relate to this story on some level. A lover that you can never be with. A boyfriend that you love but it isn't meant to be and a friend that makes you realize your life is gonna go the way it's meant to.

3. Stupidly BEAUTIFUL - That's a compliment. This book is kind of perfect. I rarely LOVE a book. I loved this book. It's beautiful and heartbreaking and sweet and just something everyone should read. People are so gung-ho about The Fault in Our Stars when they should really be talking about this book. I read it a year ago and I still think about it. READ IT!

4. From ordinary to extraordinaire - This book speaks of RAW TRUTH and reality. It develops a story as if you were falling into a alternate world and were waking up and picking up where you left off as you read this book. It's draws you into Dade's life. You feel a mix of emotions as you continue to read and it makes you think of your own problems as well in comparance. It's a GREAT and touching book! It's in my top ten. Loved it and I do recommend!!

5. My favorite book. - At first glance I was not excited to read this, it looked cliche and dull. I saw my school library had it so I thought I'd give it a chance. This book is the best to read when you're a little bit slap happy tired. It's dark humor will bring tears to your eyes in a good way. I thought this book was hilarious, and yet sad and disturbing. It is definitely my favorite book. If I re-read books I don't think I'd ever read anything else again.

6. All round good read with few critiques - I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It provides an interesting message, and I think the author did a great job of explaining it without it becoming so encompassing that it didn't ruin the whole rest of the book. The only thing that really didn't sit well with me was the ending. I think I just craved something a little more romantic and cute, but I guess it all depends on how you interpret it all. This is a fabulous read, especially if you're looking for a unique book to read in your free time :)

7. Simply wonderful! - Enjoyed this book very much. There are quite a few coming of age books about gay youth and this one stands out in my mind as one of the best. It made me smile, laugh, yearn and cry. Definitely recommend this title for anyone who is or knows someone who is gay. Truly touching story. Looking forward to more books by Nick Burd.

1. The best ending imaginable - Though there was some depressing aspects (Patti and Marna) they were also overlapping the overall theme of peace that I absolutely loved. The books explosive plot was ended perfectly with the epilogue and the way Wendy successful showed the possibility for such beauty and salvation in life.

1. Not Exactly What I Expected - So this is the first book I’ve read of Jason Reynold’s. And as someone who has just gotten back into reading and has torn through almost books in the last month this one was a little harder to go through because I was used to cliffhangers and attention grabbers. But, this is an absolutely beautifully written book. And even though it is a fast read, it leaves an impact. I read it in day and I’ve been talking about it and the weight of it to everyone I’ve spoken to since finishing it. I HIGHLY suggest this book and I cannot wait to read more of Jason Reynold’s work.

2. Ending - So, the book was amazing. I read this on my own time due to my teacher recommending I should read it. Like a lot of people, I was confused on the ending at first. Then, this year, during lockdown, I read it again. I realised that at the end, with the smoke and whatnot, he dies. He most likely shot Riggs, or he missed and was shot himself. The “you coming” most likely means that he is in purgatory or the afterlife, so yeah. If you’re confused, there you go.

3. Emotional Book - I couldn’t help but cry when certain people walked into the elevator and spoke to Will. When you know that sometimes this whole situation with the rules actually happens to real people in real time, this book hits different. This is definitely a book that’s worth recommending. Well written and put together too. So glad that I read this one!

4. Hope the moon is shining bright - This is a beautiful story. It made me tear up. It is so real, and sad too know it is real. I hope the author is blessed and has wiped the tears away. I have only read the sample. I hope they went to heaven. I can’t believe somebody would shoot innocent people. Sadly it is our world. Bottom line BEAUTIFUL

5. Reality check - This story told in verse is a real eye opening experience. Will has a decision to make based on the rules he was taught to follow. Rules based on an unspoken neighborhood code of conduct. On his way down the elevator, to carry out his mission, he is met by someone in his past. Each floor is a new person. Each person shares part of the story Will doesn’t know. Will wants to follow in his brother’s footsteps, but is he ready for death?

1. I hated it - I've read all of Ellen's books and this one is by far the worst. The whole book itself is twisted and horribly graphic. The ending, I think, was a total cop out. I've never written a review about a book online, thats how much I disliked it. I would reccomend Tricks, Perfect, or the Crank series instead. Don't buy this book.

2. A-freakin-mazing! - You wouldn't even guess what happens in this book unless you read it. I spoiled it for my sister it was that good. You keep wanting to read more because you want to find out what's happening with Kaeleigh and Ian or what sort of gruesome things Raeanne is getting into. Then the end of the book you're just like WOW! I completely most definitely recommend this book FOR TEENS! Only teens and higher. . Okay.

3. Fire Hot!! - Expect the unexpected. This book is unlike anything I've ever read and I read a lot. The ending will have you jumping on your bed, screaming your head off, and making you attempt to make the proper connections from beginning to end (at least that's how I reacted :)). It's what most would call a masterpiece!!!!!

1. Great story, poor editing... - Overall: star read, star package. Split the difference and call it stars? This book is really hard to review... I snagged it on a . day because the blurb had me intrigued so it's a good blurb and it is truly representative of the story. There are brilliantly complicated characters that sucked me in from the first page and there's an air of mystery that, is one of those that - when some questions get answered, it only prompts more questions. As someone who predicts everything, I enjoyed this. It kept me guessing. And when I thought I had it all figured out, and it all came out, there was a detail I hadn't seen coming! It's so rare that an author - or anyone really - can surprise me. Getting through the story and to this point would have been a glorious, -star experience... except for the lack of editing. I like a book to be professionally presented. I feel that unprofessional, unedited books are what gives the indie community a bad name, and I also feel that if an author cannot be bothered to put forth a professional-looking product, maybe I shouldn't spend my time on it. Throughout the book, I felt confident that this author had not used an editor. However, one is mentioned and even thanked in the back of the book so I stand corrected. Poor grammar, lack of punctuation and continuity issues are abundant. If her editor wasn't checking for these things, I'm not sure what she was doing. Ultimately - I'd give this book stars if it was the fun, fast-paced read it should be... instead, it's work. When continuity issues arise, I look back to see if I'm the one who missed something. When grammar is poor and punctuation is missing, I have to re-read a lot of it, to figure out what's trying to be said. The characters are likely to stay with me and the book has a profound message in between the lines throughout- that is actually uttered by one MC in the end. I'd like to go on in the series but, reading around this low-quality editing is a lot of work so, I'm undecided at the moment. I feel like reading shouldn't be so much work! "It's what people do.
