1. One of the best books - This book is one of the best books I’ve ever read. I truly opened this book because I was curious about the famous state-blade accident, but I walked away from this book with so much more. Thank you Clint for being so open about your life and for being vulnerable. So many people can connect to how you felt at different times and it’s just a great book to know you’re not alone. / recommend.

2. Soulful - The pages turn without notice as the story unfolds, bare truths are exposed and for those with an open heart, these truths are painfully internalized in a way that compels the reader to a level of personal honesty that is soulfully rewarding. Thank you Clint for touching my spirit and revealing my inner demons in order for me to seek help also.

1. Blood Feud - A great read from one of Denver's sports writers. I was years old when the Wings- Av's rivalry began and never knew the "behind the scenes" events that occurred not only between the NHL powerhouses of the West, but the media between the cities as well. A good honest read about the greatest rivalry in all of sports, something I don't think hockey will ever see again.

1. Hockey fan - This book I couldn't put it down. I wanted to reach to the end of it. Very good book, am glad that his family decide to go ahead with the book to finish it and yes I do believe Bob is proud that you all finish his book. Am a very proud Canadian and I hockey fan. And I love this book. Thank you so much for a great book. And yes I did cry a lot, but it was worth it.
Dani thank you for standing by your best friend, if you hadn't he would have been got a long time ago. May the Lord be with you, and your family.

1. Addicting Read from My Favorite Hockey Writers - Thank you Greg, Sean and Dave for giving me an extended read of the material I've come to love (and eagerly devour) on Puck Daddy, Down Goes Brown, and Vice. I downloaded this as soon as it came out, a welcome bonus to the articles I read during the week. It was like finding a $ bill in a pair of pants you just put on. Greg Dave and Sean do a great job of being both informative and irreverent, bringing a sense of humor to a sport that is lacking it at times. My apologies to friends and colleagues that have had my attention diverted this past week to addictively reading this on my phone.

1. Good Read - Kinda bounces around quite a bit but I would expect nothing less from the chatty one, Terry Ryan. It was a cool read that gives a great perspective of what professional hockey players go through. I remember being a jr American youth hockey player looking up to Terry Ryan when he was killing it in the W. He was a ball of fire that was a pleasure to watch. Glad he’s living a life of happiness after a rough patch in the professional hockey world. I definitely would recommend the read, as it is entertaining.

1. Interesting Read but . . . - I enjoyed reading the book and found many parts of it interesting but it seemed to have the same theme throughout in every chapter. It did shed a light onto the dark side of the journey and makes the reader really consider whether or not to push their kid into that life. Just learn to love the game and enjoy, when it doesn’t become fun then join a beer league like . percent of us do. Thanks for the honesty and stories.

1. Amazing book, incredible writing, awesome content! - I’m a diehard Blackhawks fan and let me tell you, of all the awesome behind the scenes videos/movies I have seen on the various Blackhawks teams, I have never accessed such incredible content as I did with this book. Interviews and stories I would have never known, a personal side to the players and coaches and an awesome voice provided by Mark. This book is heartwarming, inspiring and all around a fun and easy read. I am only sad that I can’t read it again as if it were the first time!

1. Black Ice Review - I was lucky enough to play for two years on the Haupauge High School Hockey team. Val's Dad Henry coached us. When Val and Chris Brinster were not in Canada, they would join our team for some games. During the Victorious Suffolk County Championship final, The Newley minted AHL Long Island Cougars let us wear their jerseys for that game. During the game, from the opposing team bench, one of the players called out the "N" word. From in front of our bench, Val turned and shot a blistering wrist shot towards the bench causing a scattering of heads and ensuing penalties. Val's Dad Henry, beloved by his players would tell us to "shoot the dollar"! Which would inspire us. Great memories and Great book Val.

2. Excellent read - Whether or not you are a hockey Fantis is a good book with a good story. After seeing an interview of him I was interested in reading his book. Following his journey from a kid learning to play hockey and seeing his progression to playing pro was interesting. Following his dreams to play hockey while dealing with racism makes for an interesting story. And seeing how he made peace with it years later is remarkable. Loved reading this book.

3. Inspirational - Great read. It's amazing and inspirational to read how a man can handle himself with dignity and grace while having to deal with the most vile insults thrown his way. Even while recounting this instances, Val brings moments of levity that make you laugh out loud. A wonderfully engaging book.

1. Better Than Terry Ryan Book - I sat for ten minutes deciding whether to purchase the book. I did not want to read another juvenile book by an ex-player. Hence the title of my review. The book was both funny and amusing. The funniest story was the mascot and Billy Smith. I literally almost peed in my pants reading that story. Hats off to James McLennan. It was a well told story about life as a marginal player in professional sports. Buy the book. Have a laugh. Easy reading.
