1. Great book but I can’t see the diagrams - I had the opportunity to hear Coach Dearmon at the Atlanta Glazier Clinic and he was awesome. When I open the diagrams embedded in the book the window is too small to read the print. When I zoom in the text is too blurry to read. All the concepts and explanations are amazing, but the book would be great if it weren’t for the issues with the text in the play diagrams. Yes, I am running the most recent version of iOS. Hoping the issue gets fixed so I can rate this with the stars it deserves.

2. Evolution of the RPO - This book is organized in a in a functional format, with supplemental videos to explain the concepts further. Coach is clearly an expert within this system and details all you need to know. The best part for me is that I can take things from here and work them into my own Gun Triple Option system. Great addition to my coaching library!

3. The Evolution of the RPO - Coach Dearmon does a great job of not only giving you great RPO concepts but breaking down every facet of the play from pre to post snap. This book also gives you an idea of how to install and practice your installations. The chalk talk videos at the end of the book were also a great addition to hear him speak about how he teaches it to his QBs.

4. Changed our program - I am a southwest Missouri high school football coach and the information and concepts that I gained from reading this book has changed our program. We are a small school with good athletes but small numbers. The philosophy and concepts from this book were easy to teach to my coaches and kids. In the first year of running a true RPO system, we are breaking school records each week for passing and rushing yards. In week of our season we set a record for points in half with , which is second all time in Missouri high school football. I have been telling all the other coaches that I can, they need to get this book, even if you are a defensive guy, you had better know what offensive coaches are trying to accomplish. I truly believe that this is the future of offensive football

6. A Tremendous Resource - Kudos to Coach Dearmon for putting together a great resource for all coaches. From breaking down the defense to video cut-ups of his ATU Wonder Boys, Coach Dearmon explains clearly how to implement multiple RPO concepts into your offense. There’s no coincidence why ATU’s offense soared when Coach Dearmon took the offensive reins - this stuff works!

7. The Evolution of the RPO - This digital book is a must have for all football coaches. Whether you are an offensive coach or defensive, this book breaks down every step of the RPO. 8. Pull back the curtain - Finished the book today. Was impressed with your detail and willingness to be open about your process and the why. I felt like I got to know a great OC and be an insider on the process.
Really enjoyed the entire read and found value from break down of coverage, detailed run scheme, reads, route design, and philosophy. I come away with a desire to be a better OC and with some ideas on how to do that.
Thanks for taking a risk and putting yourself out there. I admire you and root for your continued growth and success. God speed -Coach Robinson

9. The Evolution of the RPO - The Evolution of the RPO was an easy read. Very detailed and broke it down for even the beginning coach. One of the best parts is how he explains why to run a specific RPO and then shows you how with video. Also putting in how to practice it is a huge help in trying to move a high school offense to this style of play.

10. Great resource for any offense! - Coach Dearmon and Coach Haas did an excellent job in explaining the process that they used in implementing RPO’s into an already powerful offense that Coach Dearmon learned from Coach Malzahn. This is a valuable resource for any offensive coach looking to include RPO’s in an offensive attack. Keith Grabowski

11. Must read!! - This book is excellent for someone who's looking for versatility in their offense and answers to everything the defense does both pre and post snap. The detail this book goes into for each RPO concept off of each run scheme is tremendous. You will have no question of how to teach or execute an RPO effectively when you finish this book. Definitely worth the read!!

13. The Evolution of the RPO - This digital book is in depth w/ how the game of football has changed. Giving the rules in zone & gap schemes on RPO w/ video to go along with it really helps you understand the concepts more in depth. 1. Almost as expected - There is no evidence based method-he has good genes and a staff of people who do everything to keep him in shape-no reason for anyone to read this .By the way this was written by an MD.Ph.D.who recently rode miles on a road bike in hours at the age of .Save your money.Much better books available.
2018-11-04
2. Repetitive - I thought of playing a drinking game where you have to drink every time the word pliability is used and you have no clue what pliability is. After the first chapter I would have been completely wasted, and In the hospital with alcohol poisoning after chapter . The book seemed like a long infomercial. The arrogance/greed to create a TB brand of products to monetize this stuff was unsettling. A website with $ yoga mats, $ foam rollers, electrolytes and protein powders? We already know you are rich, so just tell us some products you like. Don't go create your own knockoffs to make a couple of extra bucks.

3. Pass on This - Was very disappointed in the book, workouts were like a glorified men’s health magazine and all the background on his career was Wikipedia type information. It introduced nothing that was groundbreaking or new and I think anyone looking for a general level of fitness and good health could find the same if not better information on reputable Internet sites

4. Sorry - I never wrote a negative online review in my life, until now. This entire book was a sales pitch on why I need a membership to the TB facility in Foxboro MA. The book is so repetitive I’m pretty sure it could have been written on the back of a baseball card. I kept listening hoping that it would get better, it didn’t. Commuting is bad enough, this made it worse. I’m sure the book will be a financial success, Tom-make us all happy about spending bucks and donate the proceeds to Boston First Responders. Why don’t you stick to what you’re good at, being a QB in the NFL. Good luck today against the Texans.

1. The Truth Hurts but it remains TRUTH - I'm now more fond of Mike than ever. I'm embarrassed to be a graduate of TTU as they maintain their affiliation with Kent Hance and the Board of Regents connected to the attempt to assassinate the character and integrity of Mike! This Country has lost our values that made us great! Politicians (Kent Hance) abusing their power at the expense of established policies is unacceptable in any arena and especially the arena of higher education! I think I'll burn my TTU diploma! TRUTH, HONESTY AND INTEGRITY will prevail in the end! TTU does not deserve students or staff with character! Good luck to all harmed by TTU's Board of Regents and Kent Hance! You can put lipstick on a pig but in the end; everyone discovers it's just a PIG/s!

2. Great read!!! - What a great story of a man fighting his way through the college ranks, using his skills in motivating and teaching young men the art of football. Coach Leach has the ability to learn from all of his stops up the college football ladder. His knack for using methods he learned from his football and non football mentors is amazing. The treatment that he received from Texas Tech is what is wrong with major college athletics today. Their loss is Washington State cougars gain!!!

3. Swing Your Sword - great read - Great read about Mike Leach. As a Texas Tech alum, I'm embarrassed to read about the way he was treated. I didn't realize the school was run by a bunch of political hacks posing as administrators. Kent Hance and Gerald Meyers are the laughing stock of Division I schools.
2012-04-05
4. Awesome !!! - Mike Leach is more than a great coach, he is a great man. He handled the "James" fiasco with integrity and class. He kept his composure in the face of a smear campaign orchestrated by his own employers, Craig James, and a PR firm. ESPN should be ashamed of themselves and Craig James. I hope this book gets made into a made for tv movie. I'm a Mike Leach and Washington State University fan for life. Great job Coach Leach !!!

5. Great book from a great mentor of student athletes - Great book coach. Really like your focus on education and team focus making the student athletes better. After reading your book I'm so excited you are joining the Cougar family in Pullman and leading the next generation of Cougs to the Rose Bowl and then a National Championship!

6. Fantastic - It still makes me sad and upset with the way Coach was treated. This book is written to give you an inside look into the life and career of one of the most innovative men in any profession. As an alum of Texas Tech, it saddens me that I know we'll never again see the success and positive exposure Coach Leach brought to Texas Tech. A very interesting and informative read.
2011-10-31
7. Excellent read - Leach is a talented author with a very strong ability to tell a story. While there are segments of the book that probably require some interest in football, the meat of the book lies in learning about a true renaissance man who is passionate about his love for football and concern for his players. Many will read this book for information about the Craig James conspiracy to fire Leach. They will be happy to hear that the section is well documented and will likely be nauseated by the sight of James after reading the book. Additionally, after reading the book you will likely not think very highly of ESPN either. Here is hoping Mike finds a new coaching gig. Football needs guys like Mike.
2011-10-26
8. Enlightening read - I liked the candid approach taken by coach Leach & his author. He comes a cross as the type of guy that doesn't need to embellish because the truth is pretty good all by itself. He definitely turned a perennial middle of the pack football school & turned them into a national contender. Craig James comes across as an egotistical jerk, which is probably pretty accurate. His boy comes across as a spoiled brat who relied on "daddy" his whole life. Having played college football myself and in the senior bowl my last year I can just imagine what the other guys on the team thought of Adam! I wish coach Leach the best with his lawsuit & would encourage him not to give up & let it go. See it through, the true measure of the battle is not whether you win or lose but whether your fight was for a noble cause/the right reason! Think of how many times lawyers lost on behalf of their clients during the civil rights movement! If giving up would have been an option where would our country be? Would it be a place you would be proud to call home

9. A GREAT INNOVATOR - Great insights into one of the powerful influences and minds of the evolution of wide open aggressive football. I learned a lot about some of the stories around the controversies of Texas tech and it seems leach was framed. Lots of interesting psychology from the viewpoint of a head coach. I wish he was coaching my favorite college team! Great book. Short and read quick.
2011-09-16
10. Insightful Look at a Terrific Coach - This is a very readable and fascinating look at one of the most innovative and creative minds in college football. Fun and entertaining. Also shows the sleazy side of college athletics by unmasking a corrupt administration at Texas Tech. In addition, the book provides an inside view of the dark side of ESPN and it's slimiest employee, Craig James. Here's a guy who still refers to himself as "Pony," a nickname from his days at SMU. If you read his book, go to the library - don't waste money on it, you will quickly pick up on what an arrogant, egotistical jerk he is.
Mike Leach is someone you'll enjoy spending time with through this book.
2011-08-24
11. Interesting - It's a fast, easy read. The part about his time at Texas Tech and the things the administration did to him, via Craig James make it worth the read. As much as I dig Leach's coaching philosophy and subscribe to his teaching methods, without the Tech part, it would fall far short of a worthy read.
2011-08-13
12. Swing your sword - Being a sports enthusiast I've watched countless hours of sports and highlights on espn and spent many hours rooting for collegiate athletes all across America. I heard of the Texas tech story at the time it broke and knew there was much more to the story than what was being reported. This book is sad in that once again money, politics and parent interference put an end to a program that was built on values! Hard work, no short cuts, looking out for your fellow man(teammate), were all somehow exposed as a Coach determined to make an example of one kid, who was a third team player. Craig James should be ashamed of himself not only for his actions as a parent but also as a broadcaster for ESPN. Apparently he was never taught any lessons from his days at SMU and is passing that right down the family line through Adam. The excerpts from emails, and court proceedings show all to well the real motives to disparage a Coach despite the facts. ESPN would do well to distance themselves from this corruption. While I may not agree with all Mike Leaches beliefs as a human being I hope one day he gets an opportunity to showcase his talents and lead a program built on integrity......

13. Tech is ill - Finally the true identity of the multiple cancers that have been eating away at our beloved university are revealed in this no nonsense memoir. Tech has proven their inability to handle success and took action to dismiss the man primarily responsible for bringing them so much of it. At one time I proudly represented my school (Tech) and would give all I could to it's coffers. I will NEVER give them another dime and will not purchase any paraphernalia from which they could profit. The ONLY potential remedy for what ails Tech is to immediately relieve Hance of his office. Until then, our credibility has been lost.

1. Pearlman hits another homer - I first read “The Bad Guys Won!” a few years back and never thought that could be topped. Jeff did even better with this one, a topic spanning more than a decade with a multitude of characters. Well-written is a given with a talent like Pearlman; being accurate, creative, fair and interesting with such a provocative topic is the true challenge. This meets that standard, exceeds it in most cases. Well done, sir.

2. Loved it! - It's a nice book that will help you understand a little more about the game within the game. 1. Interesting behind the scenes look - Good behind the scene look at the Dave Brandon era. Got me really pumped for the future. I did think Bacon went a little over the top gong on and on about what makes a "Michigan Man." I couldn't help rolling my eyes quite a bit with some of the chest-beating and self-patting on the back. Still I enjoyed it. Go blue!

2. A must read for any true M fan - Bacon's writing is an intricate weave of history, storytelling and critical journalism. Detail-laden and fact intensive, the book entertains and educates simultaneously. Although Bacon's writing bares a clear agenda, it is at least supported by objective evidence and, at times, tempered with countervailing perspective. If you lived through the drama that was Michigan athletics, this chronicles the experience. Timothy L. Williams

3. Amazing inside look, with a myriad of leadership lessons - Fantastic story. Truth IS stranger than fiction. You can't make this story up. Amazing how many seemingly unrelated events had to come together to get Harbaugh back to AA. That said, so many leadership lessons that apply outside of this particular set of circumstances. A good read even if you are not a Michigan fan or alum.

4. Great Look At Few Years Of Michigan Football History - This book is a wonderfully researched story of a narrow segment on the timeline of Michigan football. That said, many think now that the narrow look at the Michigan football timeline is one of the most important few years in its history. I agree and this book offers a terrific inspection of the performance and relationships of people important to the program, juxtaposing them against other icons in the program's history. Great read for any and all fans of Michigan football.

1. Disappointed - Clearly the author wanted to make sure their political views were clear. Was hoping for more of a story about the football team, not the author’s take on all the things wrong with the country. I felt like an Op Ed. The lack of real insight or anything new was also sad. Most of what is in this is pretty well known. Save your time and pass on this.

1. Fan - As a fan who has followed this team from the beginning ( years), I enjoyed the book. I though I had heard all the stories but I had not. If you are a fan it is a must read. I cried and screamed for joy when we kicked the field goal to get to the Super Bowl and when Tracy Porter ran the interception back for a touchdown in the Super Bowl. I had those same feelings as i was reading this book.

2. Uplifting & a great read! - This story of triumph for a city, a state, and a sports team, will go down in history as one that will never be forgotten. Every turnaround begins with a vision and a commitment to the completion of that vision through hard work and perseverance. 1. Man vs MultiBillion Colossus - Such an amazing story of a man dreaming big in the sense of saving lives and using science to justify his actions. An amazing story here was said and to be recognize by anyone who plays sports; Also another reason can be said from how creating a "cover-up" can be made to make a company who owns a day off a week, anything for business. On the other hand this movie portrays Health. People need to know what their going into when they play sports besides the injuries that can be seen and be cautions off things internally. The Truth hurts but it saves lives; And Science proves this from Dr. Omalu study!!!

2. A MUST READ - I would like to thank Random House Publishing & NetGalley for giving me a copy of this e-ARC to read in exchange for an honest review. Though I received this e-book for free that in no way impacts my review. Goodreads Teaser: "Soon to be a major motion picture starring Will Smith, Concussion is the riveting, unlikely story of Dr. Bennet Omalu, the pathologist who made one of the most significant medical discoveries of the twenty-first century, a discovery that challenges the existence of America’s favorite sport and puts Omalu in the crosshairs of football’s most powerful corporation: the NFL. Jeanne Marie Laskas first met the young forensic pathologist Dr. Bennet Omalu in , while reporting a story for GQ that would go on to inspire the movie Concussion. Omalu told her about a day in September , when, in a dingy morgue in downtown Pittsburgh, he picked up a scalpel and made a discovery that would rattle America in ways he’d never intended. Omalu was new to America, chasing the dream, a deeply spiritual man escaping the wounds of civil war in Nigeria. The body on the slab in front of him belonged to a fifty-year-old named Mike Webster, aka “Iron Mike,” a Hall of Fame center for the Pittsburgh Steelers, one of the greatest ever to play the game. After retiring in , Webster had suffered a dizzyingly steep decline. Toward the end of his life, he was living out of his van, tasering himself to relieve his chronic pain, and fixing his rotting teeth with Super Glue. How did this happen?, Omalu asked himself. How did a young man like Mike Webster end up like this? The search for answers would change Omalu’s life forever and put him in the crosshairs of one of the most powerful corporations in America: the National Football League. What Omalu discovered in Webster’s brain—proof that Iron Mike’s mental deterioration was no accident but a disease caused by blows to the head that could affect everyone playing the game—was the one truth the NFL wanted to ignore. Taut, gripping, and gorgeously told, Concussion is the stirring story of one unlikely man’s decision to stand up to a multibillion-dollar colossus, and to tell the world the truth." I wasn't sure what I'd make of this story since I'm not really a big football fan (gasp!), but to my pleasant surprise I quite enjoyed it. Not only did Laskas infuse the story with a sense of urgency, she managed to show the big picture of the NFL's continued cover-up while still keeping the story grounded through Dr. Omalu's life. Initially I was a bit confused by the many details of Dr. Omalu's life, how it seemed to be a biography of his life rather than of his work, but luckily his life was more than interesting enough to keep my attention. And having that background was extremely useful when the story did begin moving into the territory of concussions and the NFL's disavowal of the damage they were causing the players. Laskas could have gone for traditional gambits to hook the reader into some major courtroom battle, or or glorified methods of getting this story across. Instead, much like her subject Dr. Bennet Omalu, she keeps to the daily, personal aspects of this compelling story. There is more than enough real drama happening that there is never a need to create something that isn't there. By sticking to the personal stories and accounts of those involved Laskas has done an excellent job of bringing this unlikely whistle-blower, and in my eyes a hero, to the forefront, giving him the recognition he deserves. Staying so deep within individuals' stories made this book fly by, and gave me a real sense of the horrors that players and their families, as well as others who cared about them, endured with no understanding of what was happening to their husbands, fathers, sons, brothers. Having to watch your year old husband, the father of your kids, go down a road you can't walk with them, or bring them back from, is a hell that no one deserves. A hell that is finally being explained in mass media, though Dr. Omalu identified the truth of this danger years ago. This book is one I'd recommend every parent read before allowing their child to play football at any age.

1. FANtastic Book - A must read for fans, players, coaches, and politicians. Most of us "in the business" have known about this for years. The fundamental problem with the proposed game playoff is that it doesn't involve the major bowls. If of the top teams are in the playoff, what Pac and Big teams are going to play in the Rose Bowl on Jan ? The game and parade day isn't going to change under any scenario. And if the Rose Bowl doesn't go along, any playoff plan is DOA.

2. Great job exposing the corruption of the BCS... - It is truly amazing that this kind of blatant corruption can exist in such a high profile place like college football. Its all here, the coverups, the manipulated computer rankings, the payoffs, the smokescreens, even the fleecing of the athletic departments and the US taxpayers. This book exposes the BCS for what it is...a pitiful band of unethical, uneducated and corrupt fat cats. These so called "bowl directors" should be ashamed of themselves. How do these university presidents not see what is going on here! The solution in this book is the ONLY solution. It's beauty lies in it's simplicity. Mr. Obama...GET THIS DONE!

3. Sunlight is the best disinfectant - This book was great because it exposed the sleazy back room dealings that is the BCS. And they just don't care.

1. Best sports book out - I am in no way a book reader but I am a avid sports follower. Huge Ravens fan and aspiring NFL football player. So when I heard ray made a book I had to read it. This book changed my life and outlook. Would recommend to anyone just mature audiences. It does have some vulgar parts but overall great book.

2. Spiritual, Instirational and a heck of a story. - Ray Lewis, legendary Baltimore Ravens linebacker and one of the greatest defensive players of his generation, holds nothing back on the state of football as well as his troubled childhood, his rise to athletic greatness, the storm that threatened to ruin his NFL career, and the devastating injury that nearly cost him a final moment of glory. A lot of folks, they know my game, but they don’t know my deal. This book right here, it tells the story of my seventeen-year NFL career. It tells of my two Super Bowls, the mark I was blessed to be able to make on the game, on the city of Baltimore. But it also tells the story of how I grew up—abandoned by my no-account father, raised with my siblings by our God-fearing, hardworking single mother. It tells how I sometimes struggled off the field. It tells of the anguish and controversy that found me away from the game. Mostly, it tells how heartbreak can sometimes lift you to greatness and glory—if you find a way to put your focus in faith, and faith in your focus. When I left the game, confetti raining down on me and my teammates after winning the Super Bowl, I made a promise to myself to show how the game is really played at the highest level. That’s what you’ll find in these pages—a raw, honest look at the business of football and a look behind the scenes at some of the most torturous aspects of the game. The grind of the NFL—that’s what shines through. My deal? That grind is a given. Every player who wears an NFL uniform has to slog through the same battles just to get to the league. But it’s how you prepare for those battles that defines you—and here I hope to show how an unwavering trust in God and an unbreakable sense of purpose can lift you from tragedy to triumph. From strength to strength, man—that’s the deal. I received this as a gift from my grandson. This is his favorite NFL player and he told me that I would really enjoy it which I did! What did I like? I’m not sure where to start???? This was a really great inspirational book that you could tell was written from the heart. I personally do not know that much about football and just by reading this and talking it over with my grandson I did learn a lot more than I had ever thought that I would like to know. Just the work that a player has to do to stay in shape wore me out. Ray Lewis took that to the next step. If ever a parent wanted to show their children how easy they have it or what it takes to succeed this is the book to give them. I was very shocked in learning what this man had to go through and what it took him to make it to the last day of his NFL career, it amazed me. What will you like? This book really spells out the life of Ray and the hard work that he put into his career. It is well written and very easy to read and will certainly capture your attention right from the beginning. I know that for me after I got into it and you have to realize, I am not a sports fan… not against it just not personally a favorite, it will be really hard to put down. The amazing thing is that even though he had a really tough life, he took it in stride and put all the bad things that happen to him from being beaten as a child to being accused wrongfully of murder; coming out on the other end as a man that took those horrific things and putting them to good use. Showing others another way to live and being a father to his children, son to be proud of to his mother, extended and otherwise family, a man that anyone would be proud to call a friend plus taking a city he loved and making it his own home. I would definitely recommend this to anyone that wants to read about a very unusual man and the great way he looks at life.

3. Life changing - Ray Lewis delivers one of the most candid and inspiring autobiographical stories that I have read thus far. You would do yourself a disservice by not purchasing this book and gleaning the numerous life lessons provided by his story. I am a high school football coach in Florida after a retiring from military service and I for one am better prepared to mold my players. Coach Fitz

1. Good read for a football fan - It's a good but not great book that gives a football fan a glimpse into life in the nfl. It sometimes blows past interesting events a little to casually, and the prose is occasionally dense. Having said that, you get the sense this could have been a longer book, because the level of candor and access is remarkable and that's an achievement worth reading about.

1. Awesome Read not just for Pats fans but all NFL fans - Great story about a great organization. Michale Holley captures the essence of the Patriots. I look forward to his next book which should be a recap of the Wells Report and all of its inaccuracies that have smeared my beloved Patriots and the Greatest QB ever, Tom Brady.
My hope is the campaign ends with Patriot Nation hoisting another Lombardi and having Brady spit in the face of the Commissioner. Although Brady is too classy for that. Goodell should be ashamed of himself.

1. Fourth & Long - The book was not about college football but about Big Ten Football and seemed like the guy is a homer for the conference and worst of all Penn State. I did not see a story or the connection to the title, just some interesting history, It's a bit of a rant about traditions and tidbits about PSU after the Paterno Child Sex Abuse Scandal. It covers all the Big Ten drama but I am just not sure I got the point and other than a Big Ten guy who misses the glory days.

1. When the Game Stands Tall - If you have any interest in high school sports, any high school sport, Coach, Parent, Teacher, Player, Student, Booster, or Fan, this book was meant for you! The look into the football program at De La Salle was fantastic. To read the words of Coach Lad, and hear from his assistants and players was a real treat! As a coach in Southern California and the California Central Valley I have paid attention to the achievements of this storied program for years and am grateful for the view, provided by this book, of the streak. To hear of the struggles faced by everyone involved was interesting, to say the least. This book is a must read for coaches that want to know, "what's the secret?" I am glad to know it is hard work, dedication to the mission, and above all else, perspective. Maintaining one's perspective is paramount to success. Thank You for the fine book!
