1. AWESOME!!!! - This book is more like a poem book. For readers who like to read poems a lot more than story’s, with crowded words all over the page. Its a more suttle (idk how to spell that word) book with not a lot of action, like action magazines. Now let’s actually talk about the book. The book talks about a boy in class, and they’re making poems. It also talks about other poems and how he feels about them. It doesn’t contain any violent visuals like blood, gore or anything so it’s age appropriate. Overall, it’s a short story. You could read it in like - minutes (idk how long it actually takes). Also in the back of the book it has the poems he talks about if your unaware of the poems. In conclusion, this book is like (-) age range.

2. Um - Ok so it’s a good book. I will say that. I have some drama in my class about it tho the teachers wanted us to read it and they gave us three weeks and we all (the good readers basically) finished in like mins. It was good and sad. Anyway, they got angry and said we hadn’t fully grasped the book in reading it so quickly, and they made us summarize it. I think if you buy it you should get a tangible copy vs one online, but overall a good read.

2. Best poetry novel ever - It is a great book. It is loving, funny , and relatable. I really enjoyed this book. I wished it would never end. If you are needing or wanting a poetry book that is not easy but not hard this is prefect for you. The grade range I suggest this book for is third grade through fifth grade. I could relate to this book in many ways some ways are art, running, and having a really great friend. I would read this over and over again. I love the book and hope who ever reads it will love it as much as I did. A easy project after you read the book is to memorize a poem in the book and at least eight line long. That is why it is the best poetry novel ever.

1. Such an important book. - Such a lovely and important book. It was so wonderful to read. I felt like the ending was a bit abrupt and nothing was really “over.” That May be that I’m not the intended age group for this book, but we read it for a book club. I think we need more books like this, not just for our children but for adults as well. We need these windows into other experiences, in other places, to end the fear and bigotry that exists in the world.

1. Loved it - I loved the book it showed the sides of discrimination and acceptance. It kept me interested and had amazing detail. The chapters were short but in the two, three pages it was it explained as much as ten pages could. It also let you see the insight of another language which is also one of the many pros.

1. Good Concept, Poor Execution - I liked the idea of reading imaginative poems to my little girl, and so picked up this book. Unfortunately, it was not very professionally done. The poetry is poorly written, with rhythm and rhyme scheme constantly fluctuating even over the course of one short poem and awkward, artificial phrasing used in places to ensure some sort of rhythm. The text also needs proofread; I saw several typos. Finally, I was not crazy about the poems that described children refusing to eat food just because their uncle said it was icky or throwing a sibling's things out the window because they were annoyed at said sibling. This is not behavior that I want my daughter's reading material to model for her. Not to mention the title poem, which says we can cure anything with hugs and Popsicles--would that it were true, but it isn't, and I find the endorsement of the idea that it is true problematic on a number of levels. (Not the least of which is that her father has a chronic illness and I don't want her to think that her hugs are somehow not good enough or something when they don't magically cure him.) Good concept, and I did like a lot of the ideas behind the poems even if I was uneasy with a couple of them... But it really needed an editor or three before being published. I can't recommend it in its current state.
