And her dog George is her best friend I’m half way through the book and the part I’m on is she just survived a tornado NOT KIDDING this book is five stars!

Amazing tear-jerker of a story. - I heard of this book and read it. i’m so glad i read it. it speaks up about problems to dangerous to ignore. my physical copy of this has so many pages covered in my tears. this book is so moving and has a special place in my heart. it is compelling to hear a true story about a rape victim and their life after and before speaking about it. i am a rape victim and this book speaks close to me. especially page . looking for a place to keep your mind and looking at a peaceful piece to forget what’s happening. but you never really forget it. it’s just the first time out of many catcalls, groping, whispers, that you’ll get. this book made me cry times in the first hour of reading. i feel strong emotions for this book. i feel stronger and better knowing it’s not just me. and i hope other readers who’ve experienced rape or sexual assault feel the same way. speaking up is hard. i feel great love and joy for laurie for saying something about this. speak up- even if you stutter. and remember, stay safe girls. please never let anyone buy drinks for you. never go to a secondary location. just stay safe.

1. Animated e-book that reads and turns pages! - My twins love this book. Not only does each page have animation, tonight we found that the book also reads automatically. Each word is highlighted as the page is read, making it an excellent book for a child to read on their own. The story is also quite sweet, with a thought provoking insight made by the storyteller. All in all, an unexpected delight!

1. My honest opinion. - I don’t even know where to start. This novel is the first and only piece of literature that has me sobbing at the end. From a year old girl named Lakshmi enjoying the simple wonders in her life, being able to describe things around her as full of innocence and purity, even if it is something so simply as a grain of dirt, to transitioning into a more graphic description of her dreadful experience in sexual slavery takes you on a heartbreaking journey the more you read the novel and make interpretations as the reader. The author does such a spectacular job of describing every action and piece of setting in the book in addition to capturing the raw emotion of each part, making it feel as if you yourself was experiencing this in first person. This novel as a whole is a weird yet breathtaking mix of beauty and sadness, now I know the meaning of a rollercoaster of emotions. Not to mention, the very last thing Lakshmi says at the end of the book is just honest to god so heartbreaking and even as I write this I tear up thinking about it every time. I read this novel as a homework assignment and thought it was gonna be another obnoxious book teachers always assign students as work, but wow, I never predicted for me to be so invested in this novel. I will definitely read the other pieces of work that have been put out by Patricia McCormick in my free time. Finishing off my obnoxiously long review, I wish I had better words to describe this novel because it is honestly such an amazing work of literature. (This is entirely based off of my very personal thoughts and opinions, please don’t be disappointed if you did not feel as enlightened as I have lol.)
