The exuberant joyful anticipation of “Star of the Country Down”, “I’ll Tell Me Maw” and “Star of the Vounty Dowm” is wonderfully counterbalanced with the heartbreaking loneliness and resignation of “Carrifurgus” and “Irish Heartbeat”. I’d give this album stars if I could.

1. Miss the traditional - I had really started to think of them as the new Clancy Brothers, but this album was a really big disappointment. I hope they're not going the way of Celtic Thunder, because for me, good Irish music is the traditional songs everyone knows. They put such wonderful new melodies to such old songs, but this CD is just not what I had hoped for at all. Very big let down as I have followed them since day one.

2. Great Music - Not really the same folk feel to it as most of their other work, however I still love every song on it. They did a great job! If you're looking for more irish folk music like their past work you might not want to buy this CD, but if you like the feel of their previous music then go for it!

2. So glad I found this album! - When I heard Mary’s Jigs, I knew this was an album for me! And then, after I bought it, I heard The Galway Girl……….oh dang. I cannot stop listening! Ballad of Hollis Brown is a trip! Itinerant Singing Boy makes me sad……..but then all of the sudden, Sailing Across the Ocean throws me into a ship at sea and slaps a smile on my face. I could ramble on, but I’ll stop now and simply say: you are missing out if you don’t have this stuff! Thanks Doolin’!!!!

1. The absolute best - When it comes to Irish music, this is the best there is. Despite being together for barely four years (-), no group (except maybe the Chieftains) has had a greater influence on modern Irish traditional music than the Bothy Band. Leading current groups like Altan and Lunasa credit the Bothies as the single biggest influence on their work. The sound on this iTunes edition isn't as good as an earlier CD version, but the music is still essential to any fans of traditional Irish music.

1. These guys... - What can I say about the Irish Rovers? Well, I could give my two-hour long opinion, but I'll condense it: they have talent. Their singing is exceptional and I like the wealth of instruments they include in each song. Even Haul Away Joe has instruments. Normally I'd complain about that, but these guys do it so well that I can't. Also, their version of The Dark Island is amazingly captivating and beautiful. I can't put into words how beautiful it is. It's not on this album, but they have many that include it. Even the songs you don't know will become familiar and you will cherish each one. There are better bands, but not many that I know of. These guys' albums are must-haves for any Celtic music enthusiast or just a musician in general.
