1. The Dressmaker of Khair Khana - I don’t know what drew me to read The Dressmaker if Khair Khana exactly except I love to sew and and reading about real individuals during the Taliban Occupation sounded very intriguing. The Sadiqi family felt familiar to me. I have nine children -daughters and -sons and could visualize many of their interactions. Except for the disagreement between Malika and Kamila regarding the later’s work with the different agencies I was amazed at the peaceful co-existence between them all. What a trial for the children to have their parents leave them for the many months and then years for their father to escape persecution and likely execution. But you can feel the influence they had on their children even from a distance. Some of the times when they were in extreme danger had me on edge. Esp the bus trip to Pakistan without their male escort. I was mad at the “gentleman” who reneged on his promise to be their escort if needed. What a scum. Woman with their determination can accomplish great things as the author showed us many times. I had a chuckle out the hurried dress orders for what turned out to be a Taliban wedding. Kamila was brave beyond her years but I especially lived how she thought if others outside her family. She saved many families from starvation to be sure. I only wish I could have seen some of her dresses. Their images sounded impressive. Thank you for the insight your book brought time. I enjoyed it very much. Diana Kramer

1. Just OK! - Pretty interesting memoir about a war correspondent. I tad self indulgent but I guess if you're going to do that kind of job you're going to be somewhat of a narcissist.I also don't buy his explanation about initially supporting the Iraq war. There was plenty of evidence at the time that there was no good reason to go to war with Iraq. Someone with his background and knowledge of the Middle East should've known better. Good read in general but I've read a lot better memoirs.

2. Excellent first-hand summary of the Middle East - I highly recommend this book as a credible source for information about the Middle East from -present (). This guy was actually in the Middle East during many (if not all) of the major turning points. This book provides first-hand insight into the state of the Middle East, the contributing factors of the destabilization of many of it's states, and the danger that poses for it's peaceful citizens and the rest of the world. And no one-sided political spin. Huge thanks, Richard.

1. Didn’t age well... - It’s funny how things turn out. This is a book about a Russian Conspiracy that didn’t happen. The Obama Administration spied on the Trump campaign, all the facts are out now, and it blows this whole narrative out of the water. There was no collusion, there was no quid pro quo, there was nothing. Congratulations, you played yourself.

2. The plot to destroy democracy - Sounds a title for a contemporary time, but wait! That is a title hijacked from a book written by Jewish Pharisee Paul of Tarsus when he persecuted the followers of Jesus. Why am I reviewing this book in light of that time, because truth is accused and charged as a lie. The Truth is distorted and turned into deceptive tells. There is a plot to destroy America and replace it with a pseudo democratic society. A socialist culture that promotes a drone society of equality dumb-downing the brain with pseudo intellectual thought challenging years of historical evidence of Truth. Read this book and the read Masters of Deceit that I read in high school American History along with communist manifesto, and the Federalist Papers to fully understand what is the real conspiracy.

3. Interesting theory if history’s any teacher not as far fetched as one would hope. - I hope this book is not true but growing up in a political family that has been in the America’s since before the American Revolution, it would not surprise me. Our founding fathers wrote endlessly about the dangers to democracy. More chilling to me than the book, is how all the one star reviews are obviously written by the same hack. Somebodies worried. Perhaps a Russian bot whose favorite epithet is meathead.

4. Attention right wing nut jobs! - God forbid you actually see and accept the truth! If dictator Donnie gets his way that’s precisely what our country will be a dictatorship with Donnie at the head of a totalitarian regime. Can you say North Korea? Can you say hereditary trump dictatorship? I didn’t think so all of you are to blind to see the writing on the wall!

1. Missed the forest for the trees - The authors premise that radical Islam equates to totalitarian regimes in the th state. Given his conviction and patriotism considering how many soldiers died is entirely understandable. However, I have this book stars because it completely misses the confluence of a rising population in impoverished geographic areas that due to climate change are dealing with less resources. For me, discussing radical Islam without reference to the fact these populations relative outlook is bleak is disingenuous.

2. Field of Fight - Every time the author starts an informative account he finds it necessary to brag first and foremost about his own accomplishments and how amazing he is at well....everything! I feel like I'm reading a detailed resume of the author and not so much about the supposed main theme of what the book should be about;ISIS.

3. America needs more men like Gen. Flynn - My primary concern about this book is not enough people, and not enough of the right people will read this book. Gen. Flynn is a modern day Paul Revere. I deeply hope that President Trump will consider him for either Secretary of Defense or head of national intelligence. He has clearly enunciated the threat to our civilization from Radical Islam, the total failure of President Obama to deal with it and specific actions America needs to take to defend our country and its values. Thank God our country still has leaders like Gen. Flynn.

1. Easy read but will soon be dated - Most of the book is first hand accounts by the author with the occasional retelling of stories from his sources. It is an easy read and it is coherent in its vignettes. However, the merging of all the internal Arab country's internal conflicts seems forced. In the future this may become source material for historical analysis, but it will be dated for the casual reader. In short, good but not one to write home to mom about.

1. Look into China - China is a dictatorship of a society where the communist party and its members reign with supreme power and use their power for corruption, power/influence, and anything they desire. To question their leadership is setting yourself up for bullying, harassment, jail time, or forced into slave camps. There government which is a communist government and not a democratic government where you vote rather they Chinese communist party)decide who gets in and controls everything and from there they abuse their power. A government which commits genocide and engages in forced human organ harvesting of dissidents, prisoners of conscience, or anybody that is a enemy of the party or is simply a Muslim uyger and for that you are prosecuted. That’s China.

1. The totalitarian system is designed in culture. - Unfortunately, the Chinese culture still failed to evolve human rights or freedom, still in a raw state of collectivism, which demands individual sacrifice, like serfdom that rooted deeply through thousand years of training. Be aware of the erotic, mysterious and grand narrative, do not underestimate the rotten core. That’s why China can hardly develop a modern society on its own nor be a responsible shareholder. Chinese characterized socialism or any fancy concept is just another reinforced version of it.

2. The Chinese Communist Party is the Problem, not China - The Chinese people are victims of the CCP. I think it is very important that this author try to make this point distinguished and clear. They have so little access to truthful information, and it's no longer fair to blame them anymore. The Chinese Communist Party is what this book is really about, not "China".

1. It's hard not to be moved - Prior to reading this book I thought the "prank" was ill advised and distasteful, hardly worth a line in the local news or a warning from a judge. I come away with a great sense of awe - how three young girls could stand up to such an insane and out of control system with clarity, dignity and self-respect. All values which the regime greatly lacks. As disturbing as the story is - it is also a must read!

1. Papal conspiracy Blackist history razed. - Haiti is like a pin hindering the most comfortable bedding. Political correctness and modern historic shame. I don’t understand why this author decided to blame race. There is a strong probability that this author was reared in Haiti nevertheless lived in Haiti. Many families were targeted by a paranoid black ruling government. Many of such black ruling government officials of the passed have gone on record asking for their Blackist ideologies were not spread under Ayiti [Haïti] name and banner. Such ideologies freed nations in less that years, these Ideologies written by educated and well rounded black men and women. The Haitian women earned their right of man alongside the Haitian man. Bertier happened in review biblical Daniel. Along side a passionate group of Affranchi [free born mulattos or/and emancipated slaves] term lost with the silent History of the first black free island of Hispaniola (an Indian word for mountainous land). Beware if you read this book read with an open mind. Yet if you look deep enough you will read of a forgotten people. Haiti today is the result of a history-less Peoples. Just as SISI razed ancient engineering. So has sinister plans stolen the future of Black Pride. JFK

2. Violent US Occupation "benevolent imperialism"? - I didn't purchase this book because I was reading the introduction as a preview and the author made a brief reference to the US occupation and characterized it as something positive. I did a double take, saw the chapter title "Benevolent Imperialism", and immediately deleted the preview. Having just read a different book on the history of Haiti (Aftershocks of History) which explains how the US occupation was not only extremely violent when it was going on, but also wrecked the economy and set the country up for the dictatorship of Doc Duvalier, I couldn't bear to read something that would characterize it as an aid to the country. Characterizing the US's imperialism as anything but violent, destructive, and self-serving is revisionist history, in my opinion. So that's why I'm writing this review (and I recommend you read Aftershocks of History instead, it was really good).

1. Meh - Disappointing book. First, where are the footnotes or endnotes!? There are none and that is unacceptable. Second, the author continuously relies on hindsight to wag his finger at the West but never lays out what he believes should be done to counter ISIS. Third, is book lacks interviews with high level Iraqi or US officials. If you want to learn more about ISIS, start at Wikipedia because it does a much better job than Mr. Cockburn.
