1. Love This Podcast - I have been a fan of Ina’s for years. I love the Barefoot Contessa shows and only just discovered that Ina has a podcast. The most recent one I listened to was the Laura Linney episode and tonight I watched Love Actually, so thanks for the recommendation. Looking forward to many more episodes from The Barn!

2. Thrilled this is a podcast now too! Thank you!! - I wait with heightened anticipation for every BMG episode. Tears roll down my cheeks at each show’s connective moments and I take them in over and over again just like the worn and stained pages of your cookbooks on my shelf. For me, BMG feeds my soul, I inhale the stories, I feel like I’m in the kitchen laughing and cooking with you all. Now when I drag myself to the gym (I’m so yes it’s a drag) I can get through the treadmill as though it never happened and think “how easy is that?” I fell into catering in my ’s, got a crazy idea to open a humble little market and food / catering shop in San Diego in my ’s, closed it after a decade (it was the scariest thing I’ve ever done but it became my foundation for my new career) I’ve worked in food all my life, presented for celebrity and to icons, but Ina is my North Star. Be My Guest, is much more than a culinary show, it models how real people come together through the ritual of making a meal. So needed today. Thank you, Ina, for dreaming this up for us all. I just want you to know how important it is to us.

3. Garten’s Garden of Delights! - Have been a fan of the Barefoot Contessa for years and cannot think of Ina without smiling! Was intrigued about a non-visual cooking podcast but figured I’d at least smile for minutes if nothing else. Ina invites people she admires, but has never met, to come to her barn in the Hamptons and cook their favorite or go-to meal while she plays sou chef. These podcasts are so relaxing and informative and actually are vicarious thrills. They are transcendental as the minutes pass fly by, as you get to know the celebrity and feel an authenticity from Ina and her amazing ability to put people at ease while they get to know each other, cook together and then eat the meal they’ve just created. Brava Ina!!

4. Love it! - I love this show! I want to see more! Ina does a wonderful interview, and it is very entertaining. I’m hoping she will be filming with more people/celebrities. I have a list: Stanley Tucci, Stephen Colbert, Selena Gomez, and so many more. Ina thank you for being amazing an inspirational.

5. Bite Sized Listening - What a joy to listen to! The episodes are long enough for my morning commute from the Heights to Chelsea, and yet still short enough to leave me wanting more. Ina and her guests are engaged, dynamic, and full of zest for life without being preachy, try-hard, or lacking humility. I’ve been recommending it to everyone I come across, and can’t wait to listen to more.

6. Thank You - Ina, I know this will be a unique review but I wanted to share that I was introduced to you by one of my friends. I have been listening and watching your videos since. I love that you always frame compliments into questions it just makes me smile! I also wanted to add that I listen to your Podcast while running! I tell myself, if you set a PR you can get Ina’s cooking! Thank you for sharing your talents with all of us!

7. Delightful - I think what I enjoy so much about this podcast is that we get to see (or hear ) another side of Ina. A level deeper because it’s a bit more intimate to hear her interacting with friends, interviewing, and having the focus more on the relationships than the food. The result is something any Ina fan could have guessed… you get to know a bit more about her… and you love her even more! Ina fun, authentic, gracious, relaxed, & witty - who doesn’t love that?!
2022-05-05
8. Envy Too! - I completely agree with Envy. I, too, am not an envious person. I’m not star struck in the least, but then there’s Ina. I have every cookbook and always will. Grant me a wish and it would be to join her in the Hamptons in the barn! She is perfection! When I stumbled upon her new podcast on my most recent walk I was over the moon. I listened to every interview in one morning. Talk about getting my steps in! Be My Guest with Ina is simply the BEST!
2022-05-02
9. Always a fan! - I love Ina's recipes, her cookbooks, her television show and now her podcasts. Her guests are at ease from the start and she makes her listeners feel as if they right there with them. My favorite episode so far, probably not fair to say because there have only been a few, was with Rob Marshall and John DeLuca. Brilliant men who held nothing back. So funny and so real. Thank you, Ina. p.s. I have already pre-ordered your next book! Best to you and Jeffrey.
2022-05-02
10. Envy - I’m not envious of people with more beauty or money or power, I’m not envious of a bigger house, or a larger career, or better hair, but I am envious of every single person who is blessed to spend time with this woman and her husband. If I had three personal wishes one of them would be to be Ina’s guest. And the odds of that wish becoming reality would probably be one in billion! ‘Wink. So incredibly delighted to search Podcasts and find this! Ina has created so manyLittle pockets of joy in my life just doing what she does in all the ways that she does it!

11. This is what’s been missing in the podcast universe!! - Oh, Ina - what a treat every Saturday morning to settle in for a visit with you. I feel like I’m in the kitchen with you while you’re making a delicious treat, and I can almost see your gorgeous garden tours in my minds eye. I just adore you and I only wish I didn’t have to wait a whole week to experience your blissful podcast again!!
2022-04-16
12. WONDERFUL! - Just listened to the first episode and loved it! Ina is such a genuinely nice person. She never judges and always encourages. I’ve always loved her because of these qualities. Plus of course I can’t wait to hear from Jeffrey also. They are so good to each other. The world needs more Ina and Jeffreys.
Much love to them both!
2022-04-08
13. A joy to listen to - I am loving this podcast. It really feels like you are a part of a small get together with good friends and good food. Just for fun, I want to answer the pop quiz questions Ina has been asking at the end. Movie(s) I have watched over and over: Harry Potter and Under the Tuscan Sun. Fave food: Burger and fries. What I hope God says to me when I am able to finally fly into His arms: Good job, good and faithful servant.
2022-04-06
14. Pure perfection! - In my book,Ina Garten can do no wrong, and this podcast is no exception! I especially love listening to a podcast episode either right before or right after watching the accompanying episode on TV. She is without a doubt the nicest, classiest, smartest person on the Food Network. Everything about her is calming, pleasant, and welcoming (and the same can easily be said of Jeffrey). No one even comes close. Thank you, Ina!
2022-04-02
15. Like being with my favorite friends! - I enjoyed this podcast tremendously. It was warm, friendly and fun. The interplay between Ina and Juliana was infectious. I’ll definitely make the halibut, but would loved to have had a general idea of the total amount of herbs they used.
Looking forward to more episodes!

1. Confused and disappointed - I called your call line twice to tell you about a cookie recipe that uses yeast instead of baking powder or soda, and no one has called me back about it. You had mentioned on a previous episode about not knowing any cookie recipes that use yeast as a leavening or flavor element, and expressed doubt that any such recipe existed. I would love to share my recipe with you and your listeners, because my family loves these cookies. I hope this prompts a phone call from you.

2. Delightful and engaging podcast - This podcast is artfully crafted, interspersing interviews with caller questions and recipes. I always fast forward through the commercials so I’m not bothered by them. I find Christopher is an excellent interviewer who asks smart open-ended questions and does not dominate the conversation.
2023-03-17
3. More culturally diverse but not as accurate - I’ve listened to this podcast for a few years now and frequented their other channels as well. As someone who grew up in Asia and loves food from all corners of the world, I appreciate what Milk Street brings to the American food education table. However, I often find the information the hosts provide, especially during Q&A, regarding non-western culinary ingredients/tips highly speculative, misleading, or completely wrong. It’s not that they’re not trying their best, but without the right background/perspectives, a guess is at the best a guess. Would love to see (hear) someone from a different cultural background to give better answers.
2023-02-26
4. TOO MANY COMMERCIALS! - I love this podcast! But it is getting so overloaded with excess commercials that it irritates the heck out of me! Doesn’t Chris make enough money already? His television show, his cookbooks, his Milk Street store, his magazine? And now an ever increasing annoying array of sales pitches throughout the podcast. Grrrr! l wish there was an option to listen to an ad-free version for a small subscription fee. Yes, l like the podcast that much!

5. The kids sing commercials - Such a great podcast as you are calmly listening to Chris … Sara or a great interview; this loud kids sing commercial blows out your mind and is so unpleasant and I CANNOT believe Christopher allows this, usually a person of taste this loud blast of music MUST GO!! LMcCallum
2022-12-31
6. Chris could stand to talk less - I feel torn, because I LOVE the rich knowledge about ingredients and technique, but I find Christopher presents as a pompous, ethnocentric know-it-all multiple times an episode. This is the podcast I turn to when I’ve listened to everything else in my show library. I personally recommend ‘Borderline Salty’ for a call in show, and ‘The Sporkfull’ for a food interview show that leans into the way that western white guy hosts are far less interesting and knowledgeable than the guests. Those are my A Day food shows. When Sarah breaks off to start her own podcast, I’m leaving with her.
2022-12-11
7. We deserve better interview skills! - Please give the interview job to someone who cares! I love this podcast, but Christopher’s interviews leave a lot to be desired. Is he tired of interviewing people? Would he rather NOT conduct the interviews? Great! Give the job to someone who really wants to talk to others and find out about them, not just ask stock questions and bounce around from topic to topic. We are loyal listeners and deserve more time and care taken.
2022-11-16
8. Christopher is insufferable - I’m going to be honest. I do like the show. The guests are great, and the discussions are interesting. But I find myself rolling my eyes at least once an episode. Christopher must have some inner voice telling him, “Say something slightly snarky or condescending to the guests and other hosts. Do it. It’ll make you feel better than them.” And he delivers every.single.time.
2022-11-11
9. Wastes time. - Milk Street produces pretty good content, but I’m annoyed at how much I have to fast forward to get to the content. For example, the most recent episode in which Kimball interviews Nigella Lawson, there were over minutes of ads for a minute episode. It’s absurd, disrespectful, and wasteful of the listeners’ time and attention.
2022-11-02
10. Just what I was looking for - Educational, fun and not too stuffy. I truly enjoyed the most recent vintage/family recipes show. Deep warm memories of my grandmothers (one Norwegian, one French/German) surfaced and I will be sitting with my mother looking over recipes very soon. No lutefisk, tho! Keep the radio talk show Q&A coming — I learn so much! — and it adds a homey connection to your show. Peace and joy from the Midwest!
2022-10-28
11. Milk Street Radio program ‘invaded’ by ‘forced ad’ - Update: the problem described below continue and actually has worsened with each episode now repeatedly interrupt by ads of all kinds. Really destroys the show’s formerly mellow, almost hypnotic flow. The flaws are starting to dominate the benefits of listening— what a shame! I’m a huge fan of program, even though I rarely cook myself. I listen to it on the Apple Podcast app. Recently however, the program was suddenly disrupted (mid-sentence) by a ‘forced ad’ by something called ‘Acast’. I doubt the show’s producers intended this ad, as it disrupted the your guest mid-sentence and and the volume was much louder than the show’s normal volume. In addition, when I went to read the Milk Street Radio’s ‘About’ information, that description was incomplete, instead including a statement about Acast’s privacy policy. I’m not sure if you are aware of these changes but it certainly ruins my enjoyment of Milk Street Radio’s podcast.

12. Sara Moulton is the GOAT - Five stars for the queen Sara Moulton and her consistent, helpful tips and tricks. Love her vibe and her endless patience. This is a calming constant in my life. However, a couple things need to be mentioned: I’m convinced Christopher Kimball mispronounces words on purpose (ie: PAP-ree-kuh).
Stop trying to make pomegranate molasses a staple. It’s fine, but doesn’t have to get mentioned every single episode.
Vegan and vegetarian chefs and the delicious food they make need to get more love and exposure.
Please learn about flax “eggs” which is a great substitute for folks who are vegan and/or have egg allergies that need to dredge and bread ingredients.
The food language segments and guests are rough. At least y’all have the decency to put them towards the end when we can just turn off the podcast. Etymology is so interesting; the puns and jokes, however, are not.
2022-10-18
13. My weekly fave - Love the unique perspectives on food culture and recipes and especially love the Q&A with Chris and Sara each week, that is the best! They each have their own views but respect each other and bring a refreshing sense of humor to cooking. I rely on the knowledge this podcast shares and it inspires me.

14. Prova Loan - A veritable weekly banquet of information, recipes, & interviews. Routinely interesting. One issue:
neither Kimball nor his staff have any knack for foreign term pronunciatiom. C’mon, make an effort, maybe enlist an advisor?
Listeners deserve this accuracy as part of the experience. Goes for TV,
too. We have raised our game thanks
to Milk Street. Parla bene e buon appetito!
2022-07-12
15. So sad - I understand that your primary audience is liberal cancel culture but you gave someone a voice who encourages virtual experiences. You should be encouraging coming together and sharing experiences. That was such a dispiriting interview. I’m so sad for anyone who pays money to avoid people.
2022-07-02
16. NFTs are a scam and I am very disappointed in this show - I am honestly stunned that there is somehow food-related Metaverse nonsense, and even more stunned that it’s being given a platform on this podcast. I enjoyed listening for a while, but I cannot support a show that is promoting NFTs and cryptocurrency. It is very clear how bad cryptofarming is for the environment, and that the entire NFT economy is a bunch of nonsense, and I will not stay subscribed to a show that promotes it in any way.
2022-06-24
17. Excellent Food Storytelling! - I am always impressed by the many different guests who appear on the Milk Street podcast. Their perspectives on food and cooking are diverse and insightful. This podcast is a go-to in my weekly rotation and it always leaves me inspired to cook something new. Strongly recommend!

1. Get a better host - FIrst time listener: I couldn’t resist listening to the Deborah Madison episode as she quite literally changed the way I cook and eat. She was wonderful when Francis gave her the chance to speak, which was not nearly enough for me. I wanted to hear the guest and not the self-important host who seems to care more about getting his info out than celebrating his guest. He seems knowledgeable but too interested in proving himself than allowing his guest to be the star. Gave the podcast another shot recently. I really like nigella Lawson but didn’t get as much of her as I’d wanted. once more the host hijacked her time to tell an uninteresting personal story while nigella awkwardly waited for him to finish…and what’s worse, he sadly seemed genuinely bored with her. I think he really wants a show where he can talk about his favorite subject: himself.

2. Always a Favorite - So Comforting and Enlightening - I absolutely LOVE The Splendid Table. As a super fan of Lynne Rossetto Kasper, I was not sure how I would respond to a new host. Francis Lam is an incredible host - he is intelligent, hilarious, calming and a joy to listen to. Thank you for this brilliant show.

3. Rediscovering The Splendid Table - What a delight. Francis Lam has taken over the helm of this show in a way that honors its founder and its past, but also makes it fresh and relevant and irresistible. Bravo! So excited to binge listen to all the episodes I’ve missed, and I can’t wait for all the new ones to come.

4. Francis is Fab - I’ve been listening to TST since it was just a radio show. I’ve always been delighted by the offerings and it continues to do so to this day! How do you do it? Francis shares his incredible wealth of knowledge and I look forward to listening the next week and finding out what new things I can learn from the show. I especially love the annual thanksgiving show - I have a ritual of listening to it while I cook my family’s dinner. Can’t think of a world without TST! Thanks, Francis et al!

5. From Awesome to terrible - Loved this podcast so much when Lynne was at the helm. Now it’s just terrible. Francis Lam is annoying and talks over his guests so much that they may as well have never come on the show. And his annoying giggle when he’s trying to be cute about something is just. . . Ugh. You’ve lost this fan.
2022-08-18
6. Great but help us connect - Wonderful topics beyond the usual, great guests, but no links to find the guests on their blogs or Instagram accounts, sometimes not even their names. Links to the restaurants so we can go patronize them would be great. Organizations web sites so we can connect, and maybe donate. Some episodes do this, but others, like the American Chinese food, don’t. One annoying thing about Francis Lam: he giggles. Sometimes when there’s nothing really funny. A nervous giggle.
2022-03-10
7. Hate on a Ratatouille?!?!? thebelovedchildren’scookingclassic - I’ve never written a review to a podcast before…. the bizarrely negative intro to this episode compelled me. COVID has made a mess of us all but there’s little excuse for the angry vitriol spewed here. This calm practiced radio voice delivery does little to mask the seething strange, angry and idiosyncratic opinion of our host. You won’t let your kids watch it?!?!! What an extreme statement for a film intent on inspiring the next generation of young chefs.

8. The Wisdom of Choosing Francis ! - Just listened to hrs of Turkey Confidential the day after Thanksgiving… Francis Lam brings out the very best in each of his guests… I am an avid Lynn Rosetta Casper fan … Francis was & is the perfect person to continue the gift of The Splendid Table … Thank You so very much.
2021-11-26
9. Needs Dynamic Revitalization - At its height, this was a magazine show with both reliable segments (e.g., road food reports from Jane and Michael Stern, gear reviews from America’s Test Kitchen, and even a “Stump the Cook” game during the call-in portion) and a variety of interviews and correspondent reports on topics ranging from history to science to business to contemporary social and environmental concerns - all as they are related to food. As Lynne Rossetto Kasper edged toward retirement, however, the savory theme song changed to a guitar riff that was far less evocative of culinary resplendence, presaging the dissolution of the resplendence of the show itself as Frances Lam eased into the host seat. Today, the Splendid Table is more of an interview series that focuses on chefs and authors, often emphasizing either the challenges of demographic discrimination or the personal struggles of the interview subjects themselves, sacrificing opportunities to explore food from so many other angles. The result is now a boring show that marinades in the zeitgeist rather than introducing the audience to new ideas or concerns, and a show that sacrifices the potential for dynamic engagement by broadcasting repetitive interviews. Ultimately, I suspect this is the result of three factors: () indolence; () market pressure to focus on social trends; and () the decreasing budget of professional journalism. I am on the verge of ending my subscription, but I still hold out hope that Francis and the producers will find a way to return to the diverse range of topics and segments per episode that made this radio show so engaging to begin with.
2021-11-10
10. Poor Francis - He’s trying…however I have tried numerous times since he took over to understand where Minnesota Public Radio is going with this. Are your donations up? Has Francis increased listenership and enriched MPR? If he has, then you made the right decision and I’m just a year old relic clinging to the past. If not, perhaps it’s time to admit your mistake and move on.
2021-09-25
11. More homecooking, less restaurants - This is supposed to be a show for avid home cooks but it is now constantly focused on chefs and restaurateurs. Can there please be more talk of actual recipes or ethnographic food stories rather than cooking professionals? I really liked the show on Persian cooking for example (the dif POVs made it interesting!) Also it’s obvious Francis is uncomfortable giving advice on the fly to callers, maybe just cut the section or bring in a permanent cohost for that, cuz it’s painful for the listener. Milk Street radio and Good Food are now my preferred radio shows, but still hoping ST can step up its game. Edit: can npr give FL interview lessons? He constantly goes “uh huh, yeah, mhmm” and other stuff like that when the guest is talking, which is distracting. Maybe the editors can just cut it. He’s sooo bad at interviewing ppl he seems really flustered all the time.
2021-07-24
12. Losing interest - I have been hearing a lot of “repurposed” segments in the new format. It’s frustrating to get into a podcast on a commute only to realize that parts are reruns. And once again, a rerun. Cmon guys. Time to get a crew that can produce weekly content Another rerun today!!!!! I think I’m done. There are dozens of food podcasts and I’m going shopping.

Food with a side of science and history. Every other week, co-hosts Cynthia Graber and Nicola Twilley serve up a brand new episode exploring the hidden history and surprising science behind a different food- or farming-related topic, from aquaculture to ancient feasts, from cutlery to chile peppers, and from microbes to Malbec. 1. Love - This is the sweet spot of so many things that I love- history, food, travel, fun trivia. It’s so fun to learn about this stuff! I recommend this as a relaxing and interesting podcast to all my friends. (P.s. anyone who doesn’t like women’s voices should just not comment on it and move on. Your audio preferences are your problem, not theirs.)
2023-03-11
2. Fascinating podcast - Love this podcast. Every topic is done in such a fascinating way. The hosts also have amazing voices that are great to listen to! Why do people not understand that Nicola is a Brit who has lived in the US for a while and thus has a lovely and unusual accent? People commenting on her voice are morons.
2023-02-18
3. Please get a voice coach - I popped by to listen to the calorie episode, and the first minute I almost stopped listening because of the vocal fry and weird inflections of one of the journalists. I almost can’t hear the interesting information because of the delivery. I’m sorry, but it’s the truth. And it’s also fixable so figured I’d give the feedback.

4. Please, never stop creating these joyful episodes! - My go-to, all time favorite podcast. I love their way of storytelling, their flow, the way they edit the story in terms of format, sound, the research! …It gives me a sense of childhood wonder as well as leaves me feeling like I learned something; aka: when time well spent is also play.
2023-01-10
5. Need voice coach - Love the content, voices are irritating. It is not the accents but the tone, intonation, attempts to be cute and lite. I listen anyway because the content is fascinating. Well prepared. Please get both of them a voice coach and have them take a more straightforward approach. Good models: Fresh Air, Kitchen Sisters, Sporkful. Unique voices but not irritating. Hosts for Gastropod are trying too hard.

6. Best Podcast Ever!! - I absolutely love the blend of story telling and science all centered around food. Everyone has to eat but very few people realize the stories behind the foods we eat. I think this podcast is a beautiful exploration into the behind the scenes of one of our most necessary needs. I recommend this podcast to all of my friends and without fail they always fall in love. Keep up the great work Nicola and Cynthia!!

7. One of my favorite p'casts. Love it and Cynthia & Nicola! - First, I can't believe how many people object to the hosts voices - expecially Nicola Twilley's. How petty. Yes, Nicola iis originally from England, but lives in the USA. I started listening to Gastropod after I heard their promo mention that the Mafia originated in Sicily's lemon-growing area. I wrote to G'pod to find out which episode had that story. My wife and I once stayed in a beautiful B&B in the middle of the lemon groves, and had give up our room when a couple of "serious" looking guys arrived with "previous reservations." Cynthia Graber sent a warm email with the info, and I have hooked ever since.
I love the podcast and the blend history, science, and gastronomy. A great recipe.
2022-09-06
8. Too much annunciation!! - This podcast could be really good if the hosts were more natural in their annunciation. They both try to hard to have corny radio voices. Some of the topics & stories are very interesting but I can’t get past the distracting fake voices and extreme annunciation. It’s simply annoying!
2022-09-05
9. But information but head-scratching sponsors and speech - Came for the coffee episodes, which were very informative. Unfortunately, I will not continue listening because of Nicola’s irritating intonation. I know I am being petty, but she sounds like a Brit attempting to speak like an American, and I can’t take it. It’s a podcast after all, the host’s voice is meaningful. Additionally, I found it a major faux-pas to have NESPRESSO sponsor the coffee episodes. Major talk of terroir, grinding freshness, farmers, yet sponsored by a company whose business model is couter to these values? Please.

10. A podcast for women by women, as for men… well tolerated! - I was listening to “Then and Now” a podcast by historians. They skipped the week and filled the hour with the “Milk of Life” episode from the the “Gastropod” podcast. I have to say I was impressed with the scientific knowledge expressed regarding the female mammary glands, important details about breast milk, and infant formula. I appreciate that! It wasn’t too long however before I had to shut the podcast off, after all, it is clear that men are such cretins. Proof again that sex discrimination can go both ways! I wish both sexes would drop the male vs. female thing and recognize that prime of all, we’re humans.
2022-07-28
11. Interesting, informative pod; needs new hosts - I listened to part of the cookie/biscuit episode and while it was interesting (guests’/experts’ information and hosts’ follow-up to said info) I couldn't get past the hosts’ speech patterns—very hard to listen to. I stopped after a few minutes in.
2022-07-22
12. Love concept; hate the politics - I’ve listened to quite a number of these and enjoy the information. I listened to an episode recently where the hosts brought up their political views. This is a food podcast and I’m not interested in the host’s opinions on unrelated topics. There are plenty of political podcasts; this does not represent itself to be one of them, so why is on here?

13. So informative and interesting. Thrilled to have found this. - I'm loving this podcast. Every episode is incredibly informative and chock full of interesting material. This is truly a hidden gem. If you like food and if you like science, this is is the podcast for you. The science is presented for an audience with or without any background in science. If you like anthropology, history or biology, it will be even more interesting. If you're a foodie or in the food industry, it's also something you might like. The explanations are always understandable by all listeners. The production is tops. Hosts and guests are terrific. I'm addicted to this. Note: I would never have thought this podcast was about food, history and science by its title. I passed it by because I thought it was about Gastropoda. Gastropods are mollusks such as the conch. I wish the podcasters would add the words food, history and science to the cover page for this podcast so others don't make the same mistake I made.

14. Sad - I love food podcasts like Splendid Table, Good Food, Recipe Club etc., so I really wanted to like this one. The topics are great and the research is well-balanced between going in-depth and average interest levels. Unfortunately, the show seems like a SNL skit (Schweddy Balls) and you’re just waiting to hear funny double entendres that never come. The hosts’ manner of speaking together and voices are incredibly off-putting. I am very sensitive to voices and the reviewer that said one of them sounds like AI is dead-on. It’s like a British person is trying to speak with the non-regional diction taught to news anchors in the US—but never being fluent enough to string an entire sentence together so there are awkward phrasing patterns. I wish I could get past it, but I can’t.

15. Absolute Favorite Podcast - I cannot recommend this podcast enough if you love food (and of course science and history)! I have been listening for years and always continue to look forward to new episode releases. Each show is filled with fascinating information and endlessly entertaining as well! An enormous thank you to the Gastropod team for this absolute gem.

16. Very bizarre speech patterns. - I thought the description sounded intriguing and was looking forward to this podcast, but one of the hosts speaks with very strange and jarring vocal patterns/inflections and I really can’t handle it. It’s like listing to AI software reading a script. Only made it a few minutes into my first episode before I had to stop.

17. Monsanto episode - Overall I enjoyed this podcast but this episode was so terribly biased that I now have to be overtly skeptical to everything they present. I’m sure this is going to negatively effect my further enjoyment of the podcast. When talking about a scientific topic, talk to scientists that specialize in the field not charlatans trying to sell their books.

1. Going downhill - This podcast used to be so good that I would recommend it to all my friends. But this “is cooking a sport?” Show has to be the worst that ya’ll have done. Recently, Nicole goes on so many tangents that she’s dragging the show down. She’s just getting annoying. I will no longer be recommending this podcast.

2. Hands down my favorite podcast! - Been listening for years and still look forward to new episodes every week, it’s the best balance of humor actual thoughtful opinions and interesting facts. I listen during workouts and have to be careful not to fall off the treadmill because I’m laughing at something Josh says - love you guys please never end the podcast!!
2023-01-01
3. I LOVE THIS PODCAST!!! - This podcast is so funny! Josh and Nicole make the show so funny but also get to the point. I LOVE hearing all of their stories and experiences. As a foodie I LOVE to take my side of the debate. I’m sure my friends are very annoyed by the amount of times I’ve debated with them on these topics. Anyways, I LOVE at Hotdog is a Sandwich and would recommend it to anybody who loves food. By the way pineapple does NOT belong on pizza.

4. Nicole needs to go - Honestly she’s just plain obnoxious, and well.. so is Josh, but both hosts shouting and rambling and laughing into the mic is too much. Podcast was much better in the beginning. Now I skip through episodes waiting for her to stop rambling. Reign it in Nicole, before you guys lose everyone.

5. Is this peak eloquence? - First off, the mythical team all around is great, and a real treat to listen to. If you like mythical and you know of this podcast, then you should already been in the headspace of accepting whatever this podcast brings. I’ve seen some other reviews that seem to lack the wherewithal to know who they are listening to. You get what you sign up for. Some laughs, deep rooted convos, and some food for though (lol) I unfortunately haven’t been able to listen to every single podcast, but I have heard enough to know that they’re all probably Grade A top shelf. Hopefully this review helps someone. But if you’re already coming here, and you know what to expect. You won’t need a review like this to tell you that you’re going to enjoy the content. You already knew you would.

6. Was a great podcast - I really enjoy the banter and content. The fact you stopped saying out in the Twitter verse because of your politics, is sad. Being anticapitalist is hilarious to me because you all benefit from it. Good and politics shouldn’t be a thing and it saddens me that you bring it into all the time. Shame on all of you.

7. St. Louis Revenge - Put your opinion where your mouth casserole is, dare you to try all of St. Louis style foods. Sure you don’t like out thin crust. Provel is amazing and you have no right to hate it while living American cheese. Also government cheese is stored in MO caves. We also have toasted raviolis and gooey butter cake. There’s diversity in our food culture. Very American and melting pot of cultures. We also have a thriving local Mexican restaurants community and the donut shop culture is strong. Ted Drews frozen custard is the king and there are many other frozen custard places that piggy back on it. LEARN YOUR STL FOOD CULTURE BEFORE MAKING HARSH BLANKET STATEMENTS. Also the Cardinals are solid and the Blues fandom is strong so you sport opinions do not matter.

8. The best part of my week - I’ve listened to the AHDIAS catalogue multiple times and find myself loving every episode even after the third or fourth listen. I love the guest star choices, and the thought and effort put into each topic even though it’s all in good fun. I love bringing up these topics at gatherings and sparking debates, especially being armed with all of the information from your podcast! Thank you for all of the laughs and thought provoking statements.

9. Nicole’s screeching is driving me away. Josh’s knowledge keeps me coming back. - I thought the show was a lot of fun at first but, as others have pointed out, Nicole cannot stop yelling over the top of Josh and, sometimes, even the guests. I mean, she yelled at Phil Rosenthal right out of the gate! He was shocked and so was I. When she disagrees with Josh, she loudly screeches while accusing him of all sorts of things from being out of his mind to being on crack. She even refuses to discuss things she disagrees with, saying “No! No! No!” while Josh tries to explain what he’s talking about. Good grief. It’s exhausting. Meanwhile, Josh’s love/knowledge of food history is so interesting to me that I’ve actually sought out some of the books he’s referenced. His videos are just as good. He’s definitely someone to watch. Maybe Josh should have rotating co-hosts who can keep up with him? Various people who can either contribute to the conversation or who want to learn something new? In lieu of doing nothing, at least please reign in the screeching. Sorry, Nicole, but you have got to calm the eff down. My demographic is female, -, USA.

10. Love it! Haters gonna hate. - Just finished binge-listening to the whole podcast. Love both Josh and Nicole, their chemistry, the way they are with guest, and all the tangents and tidbits. I always find myself wanting to be there to chime in comment on a ton of the topics. Funny and relatable. Didn’t realize there would be so many haters in the reviews not understanding the bit. They obviously don’t watch the channel
2022-08-29
11. Dull and annoying - I like the idea but the delivery is terrible. I get lost in the teenage commentary and squealing “OMG” and giggling like it’s being hosted by an entitled teenager. The recent multi part episode made me finally choose not to listen and I’m unfollowing this. Went from sometimes ok background noise to unlistenable.
2022-08-11
12. So nice - I was reading the comments and reviews and I am . When I caught one out of the corner of my eye I was SO MAD ! Kids can listen to this if they want! When you rated it E I was so happy ! I could actually listen to it. So I will not go watch stupid Cocomelon all day. I will go in the pool and listen to your podcast
2022-07-22
13. Josh and Nicole keep getting better! - Similar to Rhett and Link with Ear Biscuits, Josh and Nicole have started being more genuine via censoring themselves less lately, and I simply adore it. Their chemistry is fantastic, and I can genuinely say I’ve learned quite a bit all while being entertained! Josh isn’t for everyone, I completely get that and am sure he’d say the same thing about himself, but if you like his vibe/humor like I do, I don’t think you’ll have a problem with this podcast whatsoever! Not only that, I think you’ll actively enjoy it. Nicole is wholesome as all heck and the perfect complement to Josh’s… Joshness. Josh and Nicole top my list of podcast hosts I wish I could hang out and get drunk with. Keep up the great work, y’all. Your passion and energy are contagious.

1. Humanity wins - Gracias, José, for meeting a glaring need during dark moments--nothing connects humans like food, a smile and authenticity. Thank you for tending to Puerto Rico when others tossed paper towels and were comfortable with forgetting sucha sweet people.
Oh, and thank you for amazing food at Jaleo and more...eres una bendición.

2. Entertaining, Educational, and Accessible - I had high hopes for this podcast as I’m a fan of the work and food of Jose Andres. I was not disappointed. The first episode was great. Loved the chef conversation with Eric Ripert, the recipe interlude and the viewer questions. Really great stuff here. Can’t wait to hear more.

2. Love the stores for years and now the podcast! - Wait, my favorite grocery store has an amazing podcast that’s cozy, funny and addictive?! My whole family now loves listening to the “TJ report”, as we call it. They are gitty when I bring home treats covered in the show and then give their own personal review. We really took for granted where all of our delicious food was sourced from that we get from TJs until this podcast. Also how much they give back to our food banks and save in landfill waste. Thank you TJs! I was truly clueless and I’ve been shopping with you for over years. I love every episode but the Spice one is one of my favorites. Please, don’t stop!

4. Trader Joe’s podcast is quality listening - Updating my review with a suggestion )
How about opening “Trader Joey’s!” I live minutes from Trader Joe’s and it would be great for Trader Joe’s to take over some small empty businesses with an even smaller store with local favorite Trader Joe’s products…
Oh please do! ) I really enjoy the conversations between Matt and Tara. Thanks for keeping it real… like when you zipped open the container of Maple Walnut biscotti. And, OMGoodness! Are they truly the best! Thanks for the great infant entertainment.

5. Awesome podcast and amazing store - Tara and Matt are perfect hosts! I absolutely love your podcast and always look forward to listening to them. They are enjoyable, educational and helpful in experimenting and trying new foods. I love your Trader Joe’s flyer with the grocery list, such a great idea! I’m constantly amazed at the products that you offer in your boutique size stores. I look forward to shopping at Trader Joe’s which is quite different than the drudgery of grocery shopping at a large store. Tallahassee, Florida is thrilled you are in our area!

6. Great, fun, informative and entertaining - This podcast is free and worth every penny! As a Trader Joe's fan, I’m truly enjoying every minute of these podcasts. It's fun to hear the enthusiasm of everyone who works at TJ's both in the stores and corporate. If I had a TJ's nearby, I would want to work there as a retirement job. This is one of the best produced podcasts I listen to. Production quality right up there with NPR!

7. Please decrease single-use plastic packaging - Trader Joe’s can take meaningful steps right now to decrease single-use plastic packaging, including: -Selling fruits and vegetables without plastic clamshells, bags, wrappers, and trays.
-Offering dry goods like beans, rice, flour, pasta, cereal, coffee, tea, spices, salt, sugar, and more in bulk and allowing customers to bring their own reusable containers to fill.
-Offering personal care and cleaning items like shampoo, moisturizer, laundry powder, and dish soap in bulk and allowing customers to bring their own reusable containers to fill.
-Switching all storebrand product packaging to cardboard, paper, glass, and aluminum where offering items in bulk is not an option; and selecting namebrand products that are packaged in non-plastic alternatives. Progress is possible. Please reduce your use of single-use plastics packaging.

8. We’re FINALLY Living close a Trader Joe’s WOOHOO!! - I really enjoyed hearing about what it takes to open one of your stores. I’ve been in love with Trader Joe’s since when my future wife introduced me to them in Southern California. Biggest problem was I was in Eastern Washington state at the time. Over the last years, we’ve gone from none close by until they opened in St Louis, MO, but still a minute drive, to a - hour drive up to Albuquerque. We’ve just moved into the Parker area and we so ecstatic to hear about that one opening soon! Fortunately we were both off for your GRAND OPENING, we could’ve been first in line, we were there so early. Ps. I’m hoping you can get the Trader Joe’s Sweet Chili Sauce! We just used up the last bottle we bought at one of your stores in Albuquerque on some chicken potstickers we bought at this store. It’s GREAT for these and egg rolls! I’ll bring the empty bottle by so you can get the Code

9. Please stop selling so much unnecessary single-use plastic - I am a loyal Trader Joe's customer but I'm fed up with the huge amount of single-use plastic packaging waste I end up with every time I shop at one of your stores. I really hope TJ’s shifts away from single-use plastic packaging to a system of bulk products, plastic-free produce, reusables, and, where necessary, products packaged in single-use containers made from glass, metal or paper, all of which can be recycled successfully for multiple reuses. I am one of many concerned customers, and although I appreciate that you have started taking some steps to reduce plastic pollution, outlined on your sustainability page, these are just incremental steps and fall far short of the measures required to tackle the plastic pollution crisis. For all of multiple reasons, I believe that doing business as usual is no longer acceptable. As a leading retailer, Trader Joe’s has a responsibility to STOP carrying products packaged in single-use plastic. Alternatives exist. Please embrace them.
2022-08-09
10. Love them but not all the packaging - Have always been a fan and appreciate the reasonable prices, unique products and that their produce has gotten better over the years but really hoped they’d shift away from all the plastic by now. SO much of their stuff is packaged that way - all the yummy dips, sweets, etc., and all wrapped fruits and veggies. Makes me not want to shop there when I looks at their shelves and makes even the stuff that’s not “processed”, look like it is. Please do better TJ’s. I’m Asian and tried to overlook the offensive cultural appropriation that was used on product labeling in the past but can’t overlook the harmful effects on our health and the environment. And people - don’t be fooled. Less than % of the plastic we use gets recycled and that number will likely decrease. One of those dip containers takes nearly years to degrade. Just for a few days (if that) of yum.

11. Research - I just started listening to this podcast and love the whole idea of it! The closest Trader Joe’s is an hour away so I’m doing all my research before making the trip…. Btw I plan on making a trip very soon. I work at a grocery store and only have a few option where I live to buy groceries and I’m excited to branch off and find a new place to buy quality foods at affordable prices!

12. I love Trader Joe’s - I am a loyal customer to Trader Joe’s, and glad they had opened a new location at my neighborhood. I love the company’s philosophy, value of the products, mostly the friendly staffs. I also think the Podcast is the great fun way to keep customers well informed with the company culture, and keep the crew members proud of themselves, without them it is ALDI

13. Amazing and Well Beyond Expectations - Today, after a weekend Nor’easter on Cape Cod I drove to the Hyannis store. I dropped off my wife and proceeded to the snowy slushy slippery strip center parking lot. Trying to be proactive in light of my senior years, I waited for someone backing out their vehicle so that the walk to the store would not be precarious. There was a young man, TJ’s employee, in a Tee shirt ( degrees), collecting bas-carts, I believe his name tag read Brennan (?), who stopped what he was doing, walked over to my car and suggested that I looked perplexed and asked if he could help me; either show me a parking spot or provide whatever assistance I might have needed. I thanked him and explained why I was waiting. I actually think he would have parked my car for me! This young man personified compassion and the type of personnel employed by Trader Joe’s. It also speaks volumes about Company philosophy and knowledge of wants and needs. TJ’s “gets it.” Thanks from this old man!

14. Great info, but... - Trader Joe’s is an major part of my contentment in life so I was thrilled to find this podcast. Sadly, the interactions between the hosts are painful. (It’s partly the writing and partly the stilted, trying-too-hard delivery.) The interviews with guests are better though and I appreciate the fascinating information and helpful suggestions.

15. Great Podcast but Misophonia Nightmare - Matt and Tara balance each other well, are well versed in everything food related (especially TJs, of course), are a great comedic duo and I really enjoy hearing about the latest foods at TJs; however, they sample food consistently throughout each episode so they lip smack, chew, masticate and speak while eating. Unfortunately, I can’t tolerate this well so I turn off each episode once the first round of feasting starts
2021-09-15
16. Glad I found this - Trader Joe’s is one of my favorite stores to shop at (my happy place) and couldn’t believe there was a podcast about them.I found out about the podcast through the NPR Saturday morning radio show Wait wait, don’t tell me.I like learning about the history and facts of Trader Joe’s.

17. Fun, interesting and informative - I am so happy that I found this podcast!! I love Trader Joe’s and have been shopping there for many years. I binge listened to the Podcasts so I can’t wait till the next one comes out. The hosts, Matt and Tara, are funny, informative, and well spoken. The guests have all been very interesting. I love hearing the “behind-the-scenes“ stories. There hasn’t been a single episode that I didn’t enjoy! Can’t wait to hear the next episode!!! Listening to the podcast always makes me happy and lightens my mood. Thank you Trader Joe’s!

1. Thought provoking podcast - So far this has been a great podcast and I love Tom Papa. His podcast (IMO) had broadened my thinking and solidified thoughts and beliefs. It’s fun, interesting and thought provoking . Kudos to Tom for being more patient with the fringe opinions of some of his guests and friends that I wouldn’t be able to tolerate. Lol. (Like episode - solidified my thoughts about who Rogan is; and reinforced why I don’t like him)
2023-01-17
2. Tom’s enjoyment shines through - Really enjoy the show. Tom Papa’s approach both food and people as genuine, curious, and fun really shines through. You can learn, you can laugh, you’ll be exposed to cool ppl and their stories. Tom - you should try to setup an episode with someone from the Southern Foodways Alliance! They’re an awesome organization and I think you’d dig their approach to food media and scholarship. They do a pod called Gravy…check it out

3. Breaking Bread with Tom Papa - Been loving this podcast. Delightful listening during pandemic. Host, Tom Papa is witty and charming, and the exchange with his guests are lighthearted and fun. The guy is sweet - and, being that my name is Tom and that my () sons call me Papa, I feel like I have a brother in spirit
2022-01-06
4. Thoughts on family guests - Quick review… If you’re a fan of Tom Papa then this is a must listen. You won’t be disappointed and everyone could use more positivity each week in their lives. Now, the real reason I’m commenting is that I think you should have any relative be a main guest on the podcast that wants to. I know a lot of us would love to hear the personal stories that they can share about you. Brad from Hagerstown (Yes, that one)

5. Best Part of the Week - Tom Papa is not only one of the funniest comedians working today, he’s also clearly one of the nicest. It’s such a joy to listen to him interview a fantastic slate of comedians, writers, actors, and food personalities. It’s clear this is a topic he truly cares about, and that joy comes through. Thanks Tom!
2021-03-23
6. Donna Lennard “home taught chef” - Love the show. Your hilarious! But I am a bit upset with you. Back when I was on The Marriage Ref you all made fun of me for being a “home taught chef” you and Jimmy made comments like I was no good because I was home taught. Made jokes like let’s go to that new restaurant owned by the home taught chef. Yet you love Donna Lennard who claims she’s a home taught chef. Not cool Papa. Not cool. Milt “Goldie” Drewer
2020-12-12
7. Fantastic Tone - For people who don’t like people who are angry or easily angered. And people who like bread, and breaking it with others. Not for those looking to get riled up and argue with other riled up people online. Refreshing. Tom Papa also has a great audio set up and his voice is fantastic, like Cesar Milan says, “calm, assertive energy.” Men take note.
2020-09-29
8. Love it! - Tom is a joy to listen to, and regardless of whether it’s the old or new format, he comes across as genuine and very relatable. I also love the new theme music! When Tom combines a celebrity guest with a conversation geared toward their memories of food and family, that is where the real magic of this podcast lies. It also gives the guest an opportunity to do an interview unlike all the other talk-show interviews they do. That said... While pleasant and interesting (and I’m sure he’s a nice guy ), the Kadin interview was a little too “inside baseball” about the bakery business, and lacked the heart that all the previous episodes have had. Go ahead and chat about the business side of things for a while, but then please transition into BREAKING BREAD together. (Otherwise, I could listen to “How I Built This” to hear business-oriented conversations.) I this podcast (!), and would just request that it remain focused on the feel of the other episodes — that’s what makes this podcast special. Thanks for your wonderful work!
2020-09-26
9. GREAT, but... - I love Tom papa and this podcast but please dear god DON'T EAT while talking in the mic!!! My god, Al Madrigal was torture. Don't talk with our mouth full of food!!! Brutal. Tom is great, easy listening, nice conversation. Just don't have the guest menching on food during the podcast!!!!

1. Latest community round table was bad - Love this podcast but the latest community round table episode was boring and just had one guy talking I’ll informed about issues he clearly doesn’t understand and with a clear bias about how important his own business benefits from proposed tax breaks. Get back to talking about bourbon.
2023-03-18
2. The Bourbon Podcast you need - Hey, everyone and their mother has a podcast now, but THIS is the podcast you need to listen to to learn more about distilled spirits and bourbon specifically. From their whiskey quickies to their in depth interviews with industry experts, Kenny and Ryan and bringing you the information you need to up your bourbon game! Thank you so much Kenny, Ryan, and all your other cohosts and guests for the work you out into this. Proud to be a Patreon supporter.

3. Best bourbon show - Bourbon pursuit is the best bourbon podcast! It’s the most organized and put together. There’s good balance between banter, jokes and information. Some other podcasts just get awkward and boring but not this one. Listened through episodes multiple times as I have a long commute. Love this show!
2022-05-23
4. Question for the round table - Love the podcast. I have a question I couldn’t really find an answer for so I thought I’d throw it out to the round table. We all know when a bottle is half empty the flavor can change from oxidation but doesn’t this also happen in a barrel as it ages and loses volume? Why is this bad in a bottle but no one discusses its affect in a barrel?
2022-03-15
5. Informative and fun - The guys are a great team. Learn something from every episode aired. They bring in a variety of guests from the industry, fields that you wouldn’t think of and give you a new perspective for it. They are constantly improving themselves. Look forward to the Thursday episode drops and when that round table episode comes in it’s gone by Thursday afternoon! Keep it up guys!
2021-12-27
6. Awesome podcast - I can’t overstate how much I look forward to this podcast coming out each week. Ryan, Kenny, and Fred have turned my interest in bourbon into a full blown hobby. Not one where I collect bottles and admire them on the shelf, but one of discovery and exploration as I try different brands and releases. I really appreciate all the hard work you guys put in, and especially the educational content!
2021-11-26
7. Best Bourbon Podcast - I get excited each week knowing there is going to be a new episode. Kenny and Ryan are super down-to-earth and entertaining. They have a ton of bourbon knowledge and interview all the heavy hitters in the industry. Fred Minnick provides the type of input you would expect from an industry expert. The community round tables bring together a lot of bourbon enthusiasts who are making big contributions to the hobby with their own websites and opinion publications. This podcast is a great introduction for the bourbon beginner but also provides a ton of content that will satisfy the biggest bourbon geek. Finally, the production value is top notch, and the podcast flows effortlessly throughout. Do yourself a favor - listen and subscribe. Cheers!
2021-10-30
8. Exceptional - The quality of this show makes it a priority among my podcasts. I’m looking for the next drop and placing it at the top immediately. If this show were a bourbon, it would be so expensive and rare and allocated, but the difference here is that everyone can enjoy it. Keep up the good work. Cheers!
2021-10-28
9. The Gold Standard - The quality of the show and insights provided are the best out there. For me it sets the standard for what a Bourbon podcast should be like. I really liked the recent series “Is bourbon broken.” It gave many different viewpoints on how to understand what has been happening with bourbon over the past years and where it is going. Keep up the great work gentlemen!
2021-10-17
10. If you’re into bourbon… - If you’re into bourbon, this is your podcast. The hosts are down to earth guys who are knowledgeable and genuine. Fred’s Above the Char segment is always informative. There are always great topics with industry guests, great reviews, and bourbon news. Listen/subscribe now!
2021-09-22
11. Lack of journalistic integrity - Just listened to episode . Normally I like the show but I was very disappointed today. The round table talked about the heaven Hill strike, but they didn’t mention that heaven hill is a sponsor of the show. Their reporting of the strike seemed to be very pro management and dismiss the unions grievances. Additionally it sounded like the guys had previously crossed the picket line to do a barrel pick while workers were on strike at Roses. In the past I’ve listened to the show more for industry news, because usually I don’t care that much for their tasting notes. Overall though really weak reporting, including when Fred said “a strike may have killed Pappy Van Winkle.” If you aren’t going to support the strike, I just wish they’d give more insight into why these working class people are striking, instead of just saying these things happen.
2021-09-17
12. Engaging and Helpful - This podcast groped me learn about bourbon years ago. They helped me navigate the bourbon world and learn about great whiskey without paying stupid prices or chasing the wrong stuff. The conversational nature of the show and personalities of Kenny, Ryan, and others makes it fun to listen to as well.

13. Great guests and topics. Lots of Private barrel selections if you don’t mind high prices - The podcast is exceptional. They always have good guests and topics. The also have a prolific private barrel selection program to which you can subscribe. The selections are usually expensive with shipping in addition. Despite the cost, if you’re a fan of private barrels, they have some great picks.

14. Entertaining and Informative - This is show is great. It’s perfect for driving to work because it doesn’t require a ton of thinking - just sit back and enjoy. It’s easy to consume, a little irreverent but very informative. They address bourbon social topics, bring on people to talk about the craft and then sometimes just shoot the breeze. I highly recommend it and love that the guys continue to evolve by listening to the listeners and adjusting topics and flow. Just listen once, and you won’t regret it!

15. Expand your mind and your palate - This is a great podcast to learn about all aspects of bourbon. It’s a great way to learn about bourbon’s people, business, history, methods, and brands. You get long format episodes that dive deep into a topic, eg. all about yeast, or quick reviews on new bottles. It is the one podcast that I still listen too, even though I no longer have a commute.

16. Great podcast for bourbon enthusiasts! - Kenny and Ryan are great. They get really good guests from the industry and have interesting and thoughtful conversations. If you’re a Patreon member, the barrel pick program is great. I have reached out to Kenny with questions a couple of times and he’s always been quick to respond and helpful. Of course Fred Minnick is a legend in the industry and his Above the Char segments are always enlightening. Thanks guys!

17. Everything you need to know about bourbon - Informative, professionally produced, timely, with all you need to know about bourbon. Guests include the master distillers of bourbon and rye, and others in the business including brand ambassadors, tasters, and others in the whiskey world. The hosts are KY born and raised and, though young, have years of knowledge in that industry. The Bourbon Community Roundtables, occurring about every weeks are an added bonus covering many topics with bourbon as the underlying subject, and given in a casual manner by other bloggers, authors, etc. Definitely worth the time. They’ve completed more than episodes and there’s not a loser in the bunch.

1. Really like this show - This high-energy podcast moves right along, doesn't waste time, and teaches you a thing or two that you may not know. My only criticism is that they don't offer listeners the recipes for dishes they talk about. If you go the Bon Appetit website you have to sign up (for a fee) for access to recipes. Seems like it would be good PR to let podcast listeners access the specific recipes discussed, for free -- which would probably spark a good percentage of them to sign up for site access. Other than that: good job!

2. Non-Dairy with Nico/Natalie! THANK YOU! - Great episode.. yes, Nico is our son, so we love anything he and Natalie do.. but I also suffer from Dairy issues.. funny enough, American Dairy products especially.. I can do great with “Buffalo Mozzarella”, real Parmesan, Irish Butter.. but these additional substitutes on this episode are gonna give me so many ideas to try! Super helpful and fun to listen to episode!

3. So glad Bon Appétit is back! - I was an avid listener of Food People by Bon Appétit, and love this comeback show with Chris Morocco! It’s fun, conversational and educational. I love hearing from multiple team members at Bon Appétit too. It gives me inspiration and motivation to try things out in my own kitchen.

4. Fun Concept, Execution Needs Work - I love the idea of this podcast but I endured rather than enjoyed listening to a few episodes during a recent road trip. The INTERMINABLE intros, vapid chit chat and constant use of "sort of" "like" and "right?" (the bane of all podcast listeners I know) are aurally exhausting. With a tighter, more focused production this could be a riveting and entertaining minutes.

5. Great fun food info...but - Update /: Another star down for the snotty no orzo not in my pot remark and that contributor in general. Too much self congratulatory commentary from this person. NYC liberal Greek that you just p’oed. If it wasn’t for Adam Rapoport I’d unsubscribe. Love the podcast. It’s a lighthearted approach to the food game with interesting guests and recipes. I always learn something cool with each episode. (I took off a star because I love the babies arugula and spinach and so over you guys being over them!)

6. So good - I love cooking so this podcast is like made for me. I like listening about all the cool ingredients and people that share this interest in food. I don’t mean this in a rude way but your podcast helps me go to bed. All the talking about different spices and fresh produce and little stories connected to certain recipes are so comforting to listen to. So thank you

7. Not good anymore - Just like the magazine, this podcast has gone from mandatory listening to maybe later. From interesting and inspiring to boring and unhelpful. BA and the BA podcast used to be my favorite magazine and favorite podcast (not my favorite FOOD magazine and podcast but my favorite favorite) because it was about food but it was really about culture and it really spoke to what people who love food cared about— really good home cooking and homewares, restaurant culture, travel and all the ways food is an important access point and in an important dialogue with broader culture. With this new direction I shudder to say that if they’re not careful even Food and Wine might become the better option.

8. Somehow Worse than Before - Loved the podcast content with Adam (despite Adam being annoying % of the time). The content is so uninspiring now and I really dislike the tone of the new host. Feels awkward and very try hard. I’m sure she’s a great person! I don’t think she’s the right choice as the host. Sorry.
2021-11-06
9. Not filling the void - This used to be my favorite podcast, I would save it until Friday mornings as a treat. I fully fully understand why Adam was ousted and it was time to usher in a new era but this just ain’t it. I rarely listen now, it’s uninspiring, full of fake laughter, rarely about cooking or the vivid food world leaders of the previous iteration. I miss my BA podcast! And also why is Chaey always so negative about every single thing she talks about.
2021-11-03
10. Inconsistent and poor quality - It really annoys me when established media companies launch podcasts but then don’t have consistent releases. The quality of this relaunched podcast was pretty poor (dear lort who let that poor girl write about turning vegan for an uninterested guy, the desperation was painful!) and without consistent weekly episodes there is not a reason the keep this in my feed.
2021-08-09
11. Updated Review- Not the Same! - I used to be a big fan of the BA Podcast. It was fun, inspiring and something I looked forward to every week. So when their Editor in Chief messed up, I guess they threw the baby out with the bath water and got rid of an excellent show and replaced it with this bland, humorless, flavorless substitute that barely discusses food unless it’s about your social responsibility to it. There are plenty of socio-political podcasts out there, some that I listen to. This was suppose to be my escape and entertainment, but now it’s just another dogmatic podcast on a soapbox. So sad to see BA’s demise.

12. Not what I was searching for - Well it took me months to have finally watched all the test kitchen content on the Bon Appetite channel provided by the Roku Channel. months of bliss of new friends, foods and adventures. The friendships seemed genuine and the on the spot problem solving was so refreshing. (Yes this is my soap box now, I’ve been needing an audience, thank you)
This begins my search for new content and answers to where the test kitchen fam has been. And I found the ugly truth. Working for a huge company that is engrained with white patriarchy during the awakening of must have been earth shattering. Conversations including wages, racism and the toxic nature of undervaluing employees, I’m sure were rampant. I came here for a couple of the - test kitchen alumni, but it felt lacking and all too white. I really miss Gaby, Sohla, Andy and many others.

13. Happy the pod is back - plz talk about food - I’m excited to see the podcast is back - and while I totally understand the need to have a different show than adam’s version ( a new version that is more culturally and socially sensitive etc) I wish amanda would focus the conversation more on food and recipes and cooking. The thing I loved about the old show is that it would get me so hungry for seasonal foods and talking about the editorial features made me excited for cooking and eager to check out the recipes and stories in the Magazine and on bon app website. Please talk more about food and cooking and recipes!

1. Mind your manners - I enjoyed listening to the recent episode with Phil Rosenthal, who is a national treasure. However, I was frustrated with David when he interrupted a story Phil was telling about his parents and eggs to interject his own story. We never got the end of Phil’s story because he was interrupted. Mind your manners and maybe let your guests finish their story before telling yours, they are after all your guest.

2. I’ll follow David on whatever adventure! - David is engaging and amiable, of course that would come through on his Podcast. I loved his IG lives during Covid. His experience with French culture and food with an American perspective is always enjoyable, no matter what he’s up to. I’d love to see him have his own show where he travels around France, highlighting the everyday instead of just the glorified version we see so much about, hello French truck stops for lunch.

3. My new friends! - Michelle and Toni are the only good thing about my commute! I actually look forward to my drive knowing I get to listen to a new episode. I found this podcast in and have been loving it since. Michelle and Toni are so welcoming and friendly and warm. I love every guest they bring on. Their discussion topics are super diverse and relatable. I’ve been vegan for years now and have never had a friend who was also vegan. The way they share their stories makes you feel like you’ve known them forever. It’s my dream to have a career in something plant-based and they make me feel like I can make my dream a reality. They’re truly an inspiration for their listeners.

6. Favorite podcast - I’ve been listening on Spotify for awhile now but wanted to leave a review over here. Thank you ladies so much for supporting so many of us on our plant-based/ vegan journeys. I’ve listened to just about every episode and continue to re-listen anytime I’m needing support/ good feels about choosing this lifestyle. I feel a little less alone and always inspired by your message! Also, PBOAB and the Friendly Vegan Cookbook are used in my household every week! Thank you, Toni and Michelle!

8. Toni and Michelle changed my life - In my early days transitioning into a vegan lifestyle a couple of years ago, I came across Plant-Based on a budget. That website, Toni’s meal plans and book changed the way I viewed vegan meals (it can be both delicious and affordable!) and ever since I started listening to this podcast, I have found myself inspired to do much more learning, sharing and creating empathy rather than divide in my approach to veganism. In a world so focused on what makes us different, I like how this podcast shows us that compassion for animals and other humans can go a long way in planting seeds of change. Wherever you are on your journey, you will find stories that can inspire you to see veganism with a different lens, and learn about so many people making a difference in small and big ways in their lives and communities. Thanks for being catalysts of positive energy and change in this world, Michelle and Toni! I have been fully vegan for nearly two years now, and your content inspires me to continue ahead with an open mind and open heart.

9. The Best Podcast Ever! - I just binged seasons -! I orginaly discovered Toni and Michelle through Instagram and their cookbook "The Friendly Vegan Cookbook". The warmth, openess and suppport from their book shines through in the podcast. They bring on an amazing variety of guests and ask great questions. I like that they cover all aspects of being vegan: diet, fashion, mental health, family, food, pets and more! The style of the podcast is like listing to a conversation between friends. Toni and Michelle are my role models and feel like the vegan big sisters I never had. Thank you for all you do and keep up the good work! I look forward to listening in real time for season !

10. A must listen! - You won’t be disappointed if you give the Plant Powered People Podcast a listen! I appreciate Toni & Michelle’s approach so very much. 11. Accessible non diet culture plant-based information - I recently transitioned to a completely plant-based diet for ethical and environmental reasons. In addition, as a person who has a history of disordered eating, it’s so important to me that content not espouse diet culture ideas. Michelle and Toni have been life savers! They are committed to this lifestyle and promote it in a real and accessible way that is free of diet culture nonsense! Just found them a few weeks ago so I’m currently binging the pod...

12. Thank you ladies!!! - You both are doing such a wonderful job informing the public of the ‘why’ behind not consuming animal products! Being vegan for months now with my husband and our toddlers and going through my first vegan pregnancy with our third baby on the way, I’m so thankful to have your resources in my ears, in my emails and as recipes! Thank you for all you are doing to spread the word of why being vegan is such a great option for our bodies, for animals and the planet!! Xo Amy

13. Poor representatives of vegan values - I used to enjoy this show. Recently Michelle posted some really insensitive things on Instagram about slavery and the Holocaust, essentially comparing them to eating meat. Of course I understand she had good intentions. But her inability (after days of largely sensitive comments) to learn from people and to apologize has really turned me off of this whole brand. She’s decided to dig in and declare that she’s Jewish (by marriage by the way.. and also that would never give you permission to make these gross comparisons or to speak for everyone). I’m really not about “canceling” people, but her inability to learn from people of color has made me feel like this is an influence i should do without in my life. And so until I see a change of heart from this group I won’t be listening or following :(

14. So inclusive! - I’ve been on a slow but steady journey to become plant based and I may even be leaning toward veganism. This podcast has been such an inspiration to me and has made me both think about my choices more critically in a safe place. The hosts are so welcoming and I feel so at home here. I highly recommend this podcast to anyone who is interested in changing their food life in a more sustainable way, especially if they aren’t “perfect.”

15. I’ve been Vegan for weeks! - January th I began my vegan journey, and I discovered this podcast after seeing Toni on the What the Health documentary on Netflix. I’ve been listening to the podcast for about a week. I’m a truck driver, and went back to the beginning and have been binge listening in the early morning hours. I’m on episode right now. As a newbie to this lifestyle I’m appreciating all the vegucation!

16. Super informative and educational on everything Vegan! - Love this podcast!! It’s very helpful for learning all the ins and outs of what the vegan lifestyle is all about! Toni and Michelle make a great combo, and their voices are pleasant to listen to also i’ve listened to every episode now and I have learned so much, even though I have been vegan for over eight years! These ladies are a wealth of knowledge when it comes to this topic and have a very down to earth approach to veganism that is very inviting and welcoming

17. A Must Subscribe for New Vegans! - I don’t know how I happened upon Toni and Michelle’s podcast but I am so glad I did! These ladies are so down to earth and inspiring. I have found myself binge- listening ( is that a thing?) to this podcast. Their happiness and positivity exude from their voice in each episode. I feel like I’ve know them for years. Thank you for the time that you invest for your listeners. We can hear your heart in all things vegan and truly care for people, our earth, and especially animals! Keep up the good work girls

18. Such an inspiration! - This podcast is great for those merely interested in the vegan/plant-based lifestyle and long-time vegans such as myself (I have been vegan for years). I have found such inspirational stories, as well as great tips and info, as I’ve been binging on several of the most recent episodes. Thank you so much!

1. Disappointed - I’m a long-time fan of Mr. Bittman but after listening to the first three episodes, I’m stopping there. Great guests, but not impressed with the rest of it. His voice doesn’t keep my attention at all. Plus too much self promotion, like answering a listener’s question about baking bread by telling her she’d have to wait for his book, due out in November. Seriously? I’ll keep reading him but think I’ll go back to The Splendid Table.

2. A wonderful, refreshing podcast - Mark’s books, articles, interviews, and now this podcast has inspired me to improve my cooking skills and to look at food and society differently. My confidence has grown tremendously and I thoroughly enjoy time in the kitchen. Thanks for sharing all this wonderful information.

3. Go deeper on the big picture. - I’m a long time fan of Mark Bittman. I like the show and the combination of food and where it all comes from. That said I was quite disappointed that Mark didn’t ask more direct questions of the new bon appétit editor in relationship to the bon appétit test kitchen issues of the past year. I respect him deeply for asking hard questions but I feel he really missed the chance to get a direct answer to what happened and what is going to improve with this publication.

4. Rhubarb and Nigella - I have been watching @YouTube Nigella Tonic “Home Alone” regarding the “cooking for yourself in an everyday kind of a way/getting familiar with the rhythms of the kitchen”. I love the jingle, as I do yours and thank you for having her on your show. Leek, carrot, garlic, asparagus, olive oil... all so inspiring as ingredients, but “be careful with the blender,” it will take me weeks before I am sorted in my new kitchen with my bank and @Visa before I am settled in my digestive juices for the buying leek by @JoecoffeeNYC, getting the blender back up on the shelf. May I ask if I decide plastic which blender you suggest buying (I would have to buy one). There is this enormous dishwasher in here which uses an amazing amount of water. Six cups of chicken stock: now also thinking of buying a new pot. The one this rental company left is meh. Which one do you suggest? @Mallement
2021-06-04
5. Finally, a food podcast that “listens good” - Bittman has set the bar really high, having the great Nigella Lawson as his first guest, but if he can retain this combination of improvisatory, high-geek, low-snobbery food talk moving forward, he’s got himself a hit. I love cooking, eating and talking about food deeply and well, but other than Thw Sporkful, every other food podcast I’ve listened to has left me (wait for it) hungry for more.

6. Can’t Wait! - I can’t wait for this podcast - I’ve been a fan of Mark for decades: loved his NYTimes columns, cookbooks, Minimalist videos, and all that he has written re issues in the our food system. He has the gift of tackling the key topics - helping us understand the big picture, what’s at stake and the choices we can make while, at the same time, helping us put dinner on the table. He’s accessible, engaging, passionate without being preachy, always teaching, guiding, building understanding & generating respect for the many ways that farmers, chefs, restauranteurs, policy makers, and each and every one of us can contribute to a more sustainable and healthy food system. Another stellar Bittman endeavor…!

7. Mark Bittman is a total mensch - (For those of you who aren’t familiar with the term, a mensch is basically a boss.) He’s not just a great chef who shows everyone how to be one too, he’s warm and down to earth, incredibly knowledgable about any and all things food, and a truly good and decent person who is deeply involved with food policy and helping everyone eat well. His recipes are simple but miraculously good, and listening to his podcast is like sitting at the cool kids table if the cool kids are also smart, super-nice foodies. Yay!
2021-05-19
8. A Great Teacher paired with a great medium - Bittman changed my life. I’ve always cooked. But it was something stoners might enjoy at the end of smoking session in the heart of the Inland Empire on a Tuesday night. Like mixing Emerils essence with Kroger’s Mac and Cheese (which actually isn’t that bad). Then in I saw the Minimalists videos and he made me laugh and taught me that I could do more. And I did. Bittmans love for food is so contagious he had me asking myself, what am I missing in life? Today, I make my own salad dressings (when I hated the salad), roast chickens, bake bread, eat things I never ever thought I would eat like pasta and sardines or cozze e fagioli, that are straight up transcendent. Bittman in other words liberates you from frozen or fast food and you enter the world of quality food made with love and with instructions simple enough for anyone. You know he’s done something right when you pass a restaurant, read the menu, turn away and say, I could do better. And now the podcast? Duh, of course I’m gonna listen.
