1. Great read! - I was pleasantly surprised how great a book this was, watched the movie secretariat, and wanted to know more about the horse and the people surrounding him. Look forward to reading more books about the greatest horse I have ever seen, I am yrs old and was when he did his triple crown. Glad I can say that I was from his generation.

1. BEST BOOK EVER! - I wanted this book for Christmas and then I wanted Secretariat also. But I couldn’t get it yet!!But I’m still on pg. and it’s already talking about man o’ war, it’s such a good book because I get to learn about things I never would have knew before of man o’ war! I was so happy when I got it because, I wanted to read about the races. And then I’d give it to my grandma. But it’s really expensive but I got it used.( Don’t get it used, when I got mine the cover Spine was ripped but it’s a GREAT book)!!

1. Cringeworthy - I was a fan of Barbaro so I decided to give this book a shot and as my title suggest it was cringeworthy to say the least. If I counted on my fingers and toes how many times the writer throws in the words “for example” I would run out of room. A good portion of the book is just examples of previous horses like short stories of triple crown winners like the writer was just trying to fill in room to make the book a decent length. Some of these “examples” aren’t even factual information. Funny Cide is stated as the Kentucky derby winner and the story thrown in about Ruffian is false too. The writer says that she was a Kentucky derby winner and horse of the year and that she injured her right hind leg when she broke down and was destroyed right away. Ruffian was amazing in her own right but she never won the derby or horse of the year title and if you’re going to speak of her death then do so correctly. She broke her foreleg not her hind leg and she wasn’t immediately destroyed her connections and veterinarians tried to save her but she re-injured herself when the anesthesia wore off and then she was put to sleep.

I wanted to learn more. Barbaro gave the tragedy race his all. After he entered the starting gate, he ran... But then... His jockey quickly pulled him up for his hind right leg was up in the air. Barbaro's tragedy was devastating for all who watched.
