1. Great concept - As a child, I studied in a chinese school in Peru, but they never gave a structured way to connect the dots and read. I find easier to understand the traditional characters due my background, so what I do is to apply my own ideas and graphical references based on what’s on the book. I also practice my writting to remember the details. I’ve been using the book for less than a month and the results are impressive. I would recommend to increase the font size in the version for my computer due it is hard to see the details of the characters; some of them are only in tiny size.

2. Chineasy - This is a beautifully designed little book, and one that would nicely be applicable to illustrated storytelling, particularly for children (and their parents) as is the typical scenario. My inclination is to think it would be nice if there were both the visual reference for the characters as is shown but alongside the characters alone so that the brain can let go of the associated image and work back and forth between the two visuals.

3. A revolutionary method that goes back to basics - As a language teacher, it's important to remember that there are different kinds of learners. I am most certainly a visual learner, and this book appeals % to my love of colours and pictures in language learning. ShaoLan Hsueh has truly created a treasure and a milestone in the learning of Chinese script. Her use of both traditional and simplified characters, as well as her handy explanations to help you remember the symbolism of the characters, really creates what should be the backbone to every student of Chinese's studies. Highly recommendable, to both young and old, learners and teachers alike!

4. Great for traditional Mandarin - This book was written by a Taiwanese writer, so it makes sense that the characters are traditional Mandarin characters, as Taiwan doesn't use the simplified versions. I'm a foreigner living in Taiwan right now and I've found this book to be really helpful! Traditional Chinese characters are more complicated than the simplified versions, which can only provide more understanding for those learning simplified.

I can’t wait for the next one to be availible on iBooks. 谢谢 I do wish, however, that there would be grammar explanations in addition to vocabulary explanations. There were only about two times in this book where I wasn’t sure what was being said, so if that could be added, that would be amazing.

1. Good book for stretching you reading skills. - I recommend reading through and learning the vocabulary list before diving into the book to make it a less painful read if you’re not quite HSK level. I’ll probably reread this a couple more times to speed up my reading. Also recommend trying to read aloud— it may also help with your speaking ability. The story is also interesting and has a good twist at the end.
