1. Not what you might expect - The Ball Complete Book of Home Preserving is probably the best resource to have when it comes to canning and preserving, but this is not the edition to buy. This version is simply a scan of the actual book; it is not a properly formatted ebook, with easily searchable and navigable recipes. stars only because the content of the book is invaluable, but it is very difficult to navigate. It is worthwhile to spend a little more money for the official Ball edition, which is properly formatted for quick and easy navigation on electronic devices.

1. Worth Having but index needed - This book is definitely worth the purchase. However, the information could be formatted more logically. The text includes such information as regions of the world the herb is commonly used and other herbs it would complement. However, this information is given in one list for each entry. Also, there is no master list broken down by tag words/ categories. So, the reader is left to extract the information by hand.

2. Essential Information for Creativity - The Flavor bible is an essential reference for any cook who wants to leave recipes behind and create. This book will tell you what ingredients work well with almost any ingredient you are likely to have access to. Have halibut, Meyer lemons and saffron on hand! This book will guide you on if they will compliment each other or not. Just look it up! LOVE, LOVE LOVE this book.

3. Index / TOC - There is an "index", but not in the traditional sense. The full list of flavor entries is in the front section called "A-Z Listings", accessible through the Table of Contents. All links are clickable to take you directly to the appropriate page. Just bookmark that page, and it's a quick route to any flavor section.

4. Great text, unusable format - Don't buy this, get the hardcover edition. The text is inspiring for any professional or aspiring chef. It even played a role in recent Bocuse D'Oro preparations. Unfortunately, however, they've left out the index. The book is intended to be used as an encyclopedia. You look up an ingredient in the index, flip to that ingredients page and find a list of friendly flavors. Without the index one can not find individual ingredients. When one uses the search function to look up "crab", as I recently did, one gets a list of the dozens of pages on which the word appears. There is no way to tell which one (and only one) of those dozens of pages is the one dedicated to crab. The omission of the index makes this unusable. Get the hard copy, carry it with you everywhere you shop or cook.

1. Amazing content, bad formatting - The content of this book is amazing. It has an incredible depth of information about pretty much everything related to food. The eBook version is seriously lacking though. I noticed a few chopped up chapters, broken tables and other formatting issues. This breaks the flow of actually trying to read the book.

1. Purée Really?? - I downloaded this book while watching her cook a few recipes on Oprah and thought hey those look pretty simple and tasty. Imagine my surprise when not one of the recipes from the show was in this cookbook nor did any of the recipes from the show call for purée. So, don't be mislead by the title of the recipes when you download the sample book before buying because it never actually let's you read any of the ingredients therefore you never realize you have to go through the hassle of creating a purée for each and every recipe in the cookbook. Had I know this in advance I would never have purchased it. I guess if you have children and want to trick them into eating their vegetables this is the cookbook for you, on the other hand would a working mother have or want to spend the extra time to prepare the purée?

2. More purees--ugh! - For some reason (maybe it was the tag line "goes beyond purees") I thought this book didn't have those labor intensive purees of her first book. But, unfortunately, they do. The food purees make an recipe extra difficult. I wouldn't have bought the book had I known about the purees. Other than that, the recipes look good. I may try a couple on a week-end when I don't have to work.

Well this book tells you how to cook all of those awesome things at home! It is very easy to navigate and very easy to use while cooking...... It should be a lot of fun!

1. Gorgeous! - What an incredible book! This is a gorgeously executed ode to local cuisine from one of the most innovative chefs of today. Nilsson’s description of his core beliefs, his process, his intensely thoughtful preparation and his recipes make for a captivating read. It makes you almost want to move to far northern Sweden just to be able to share in his creativity and connection to his surrounding environs.
