1. I've been waiting so long for this!! - Although I can't listen to music now, i happened to hear a preview to this cd, and I am so excited! It will be so good to hear those old songs with better music and more feel! You can tell in the preview that there is no intention of making these old songs into today's hip-hop, rather to put a bit more life into the oldies we love! Thanks so much!!

1. The Band Name Says it All! - An absolutely stunning mix of cultures, the album keeps me singing, dancing and whistling throughout the day. Sandra Santiago has an infectious enthusiasm in her singing, and the band is perfectly in tune, from stand-up bass to the most beautiful and haunting clarinet ever. There are several professionally produced videos on YouTube, which I hope iTunes will pick up, as Sandra and the band are so fun to watch. It's as if you are at their party, or at an intimate show. -SJ

1. A Mixed Blessing - As the other reviewer states, it is fantastic that we have access to so much music that would otherwise be inaccessible. However, this album is a mixed blessing for a number of reasons: ) Global Village Music does not do even the most cursory remastering or cleanup of these releases. The artifacts from the RPM records on which these recordings were originally released are MUCH worse here than in reissued recordings by other labels, and make some tracks (especially , , , and ) borderline painful to the ear. In some cases, it's as though the audio engineer did not even bother to remove the dust from the record before transferring it. This is a problem with MANY Global Village releases, especially the more recent ones; the latest Harry Kandel recordings also suffer particularly badly from this. ) This lack of care extends even to the track names. Track is suspect. Track should be "Tantz Yidelekh" (or one of many minor variations thereupon). Whether this mistake is due to a typo or a faithful transcription of a garbled source, anyone with even the slightest knowledge of Yiddish and the slightest pride in their work would never have put "Yideelevh" into the final product. For goodness' sake, even Volume of this series of Tarras reissues includes a correct spelling ("Yidelach"). ) Finally, many of the tracks (, , , , , and , off the top of my head) are available in other, higher-quality releases, making the lack of remastering all the more blatant. Global Village is to be commended for making these tracks accessible to a wider audience in today's digital age, but let no one be fooled into thinking that this is the result of a labor of love. Anyone with an iMac and a copy of Pro Tools would be capable of significantly cleaning up the sound of this release in a couple of hours. A professional remastering job would produce even better results, as can be heard in the releases of other labels dedicated to immigrant-era klezmer music.
