1. Amazing Book, I really enjoyed it. - This book really touches your heart. I’m a very slow reader but this was a breeze to read through but so enjoyable. The things these people when through is absolutely horrendous. I can’t believe that I didn’t know much about what was happening in Russia at this time. The only problem I had with the book was the ending. It felt very rushed and very hallmark. I wanted more details but still it’s a very beautiful story and I highly recommend it.

2. Great baseline but execution was sloppy - I read Salt to the sea first and loved it, so I thought I would try another book by this author but I was let down by the plotline. I thought the plotline could have included more character development and with a more significant and understandable and ending. I thought the ending was very anti-climatic and poorly summed up the great book that it started out to be. I thought the ending was written to fast and it was poorly explained. Well the initial idea of a great book was there I thought the characters were lacking in the quality that makes them real. When reading this book I do not feel come alive around me I felt like I couldn't imagine what was happening and I felt the story was nothing more than just words on the paper. I also found the protagonist to be very unlikable. While I can’t begin to imagine what she went through the book was about nothing more than her suffering and the destruction of her world, in the end I found myself skimming the pages just to finish and lay it to rest. True ply great book doesn’t leave you with that.

3. Love it but - Love is but I still don’t get the ending! Is there another book to it if there is then someone please tell me about it! I love this book and is so sad and good! I recommend it to all my friends when we go to the library to get books because everyone tells me I’m a good book picker for people, lol but anyways I love this book so much! I might buy myself a copy of this book instead of just rereading it over in the library!

4. o my god BEST BOOK I EVER READ - This book make me cry so many times. I can’t believe how the ending was bad but still good in a way that I wanted to bawl my eyes out in front of everybody in my class. And I achually did. I was reading the book in class and I just started crying so hard. This book makes you think about how good you really have it. Her mom did everything for her and her brother in til the point of dying. It’s been about a month since I’ve finished the book and I’m still amazed by it. I’m a person that reads only history books that have a person telling the story and tells what there going through. This was the perfect book for me. I gotta say atleast half the boom was in cattle cars on trains but that didn’t mean anything to me bc I Love every second that I read. When her and her lover broke apart and she got sent to such a cold climate it killed her mom and friends I was heart broken. The rock was the thing I always knew would make it to the end. I loved this book to the extent that I could cry again just writing this. Thank you for whoever read all of this and hearing my expression to this fantastic book.

5. Between the shades of gray. - When reading this book you will not find any enlightenment by all means but that not something to particularly want to read into or look for in such a book like this, you anticipate the death and the truth of it all during such time and this book gives exactly what you are looking for. It is one of my favorite books.

6. Beautiful - This book was absolutely incredible. I have never been interested in anything even remotely related to history before reading this book, but now, I would have to say it is my by far favorite thing to exist. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who has pleasure in being completely heartbroken and totally in love with the characters all at once.

7. A needle into my heart - I only had to read a couple pages from the first chapter before I begged my teacher if I could take it home and finish it. After that my eyes stayed only on the pages, flipping each one with delicacy. It tore my heart when I came to the last chapter. I was feeling all these emotions...on one side I was overjoyed. Yet disappointed that there will be no more after the ending. It was up to my imagination to imagine what became of the characters. I never thought I would ever feel this way about a book.

8. Reports - This was the most moving book I have ever read. I really felt like the character in the story. It was family, survival and love all rolled into one. Honestly, I am a young student and when the teacher assigned this to us I thought it wasn't going to be well-written. I was very wrong because I cried and laughed and I felt scared at the same time. Please share this book, it would be one of the best books you will ever read.

9. Between Shades of Gray - Oh my gosh this book is a must read!! I can't tell you how much I love this book and you will to. The only thing I will say is that I was hoping to find out more about how when and where Lina and Andries found each other. Other than that it is an amazing book and an amazing read!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2015-04-08
10. WONDERFUL! POWERFUL - I didn't actually download the book. It was in paperback. It was absolutely powerful and heart stoping! I have been recommending this book at my recent book fair. A ton of kids are buying this book. It was an extremely powerful force for the soul. It is a book to read. Be sure not to get it confused with Shades of Gray.
2015-03-17
11. Inspirational - It is amazing how something not moving, breathing, or alive and connect with a person so much that the characters feelings fell like your own. How when the character loses it feels the reader with emptiness. And how when the character feels hope it fells you with a inspirational fullness. And Ruta Sepetys has done just that.
2015-03-05
12. Love it. READ IT!!! - I love Ruta Sepetys writing dearly. She can make you feel the suspense and pull you in. It is very easy to get lost in this novel. I absolutely love it! It can be a little dull and then out of nowhere something drastic happens and you're just what!!! Then you just want to keep reading.
2015-03-05
13. Between Shades of Gray - This book is just amazing but very sad, Ruta it would be surely amazing if you mad another Between Shades of Gray when the book is about the life they had after they got out of Siberia and how they carried on with they life's. 14. Heartwarming chaos - I just finished reading this book from a library and I love it. I'm rereading it and buying it on iBooks too. It's amazing, and tells the ugly truth in a meaningful and emotional way. You laugh and cry the entire way through the book. Definitely worth your time, I couldn't put it down, even after I read it!

16. Harrowing Must Read - Hitter was a monster and Stalin was his assistant in evil. Which was worse? In a degree of evil they seem matched. What a gripping, harrowing, unbelievable story of genocide. A novel based on true events and situations, which is well researched and superbly written. Thank you to the author for sharing. I will tell the story.

1. The Toll of Fascism - Markus Zusak takes on what it means to be German, Jewish, a child, and human. In most instances these definitions are exclusionary rather than inclusive. In the same way that a mountain cannot be a lake, a Jew cannot be German. Zusak challenges the other-ization of being through his pairings of Liesel with many of the other characters. Contrasting and linking their respective losses and hopes. The hope in particular lures the reader in deeper looking for a happy ending. Dreams, however, are always deferred when they run up against the weight of reality. Moreover, the embodiment of death as the narrator is a clear mechanism that Zusak uses to hammer home the reality of life and loss from the beginning. Additionally, Zusak explores the power of words to transform our circumstances and free us from captivity and struggles. To that point, each book in Liesel’s collection bears special meaning to the respective characters and the plot. While all of those factories worked for me in the book a number of things didn’t. The narrator seemed like an inventive but forced choice beyond the first couple of chapters. The book would have progressed more fluidly if it we simpler and more to the point. I also felt the ending was rushed for all the buildup before it. Lastly, the pacing at the beginning through the middle was draining. The book could have been half as long and twice as good.

2. Beautiful book - I have never read a book that was written with such beautiful vocabulary, and unique ways of describing things, but the vocab isn’t so vast or complicated that you can’t understand or it becomes boring. It’s perfectly descriptive. It’s based in WWII and I’m a sucker for historic fiction that’s accurate like this. It’s narrated by Death, and I haven’t seen that in a book before and it give it a melancholic mood when he speaks outside the storyline. If you want your heart ripped out I highly recommend

3. A must read!!!! - Words cannot simply convey how much I enjoyed reading this book. It was recommended to me by a local sports station radio host Craig Miller. His passion for the book and the sports tie in compelled me to purchase and read this wonderful piece of art. There were times I found myself cheering the Washington boys on as if I were right there with them and at other times I found myself weeping because of the hardships. This is a wonderful piece of art and if you are looking for a story of perseverance, brotherhood, teamwork and love of family then look no more. Well done Daniel!

4. Best book I have ever read! - The Book Thief is one of the best books I have ever read in my teenage years! I love the way Markus Zukaus is with his words and metaphors and similes! It’s just perfect! I also love that he has young romantic humor in his book. It enriches the story even more. The book is just plain perfect! The best!

5. Nothing short of a masterpiece - To start off, I just got done reading this book at AM and the first thing I said when I finished was Wow. Just. Wow. The way this book was written made you feel so much like you were in the book with the characters and related to their emotions in a way that I have NEVER experienced with another book before. I have never really written a review before for anything like apps or books or movies until I finished this book. The SECOND I finished this I wanted to let other people know to not miss out by skipping this book. I personally try to find the best and most popular books out there like Harry Potter or the hunger games but this book was an unexpected treasure. I will tell everyone I know who likes to read to get this book ASAP. So all in all, if you are looking for an outstanding book to either read for yourselves or assign to your students THIS IS YOUR BOOK!!! Read it and trust me, you will not regret it in the slightest.

6. My Favorite Book - I remember picking up this book off the bookshelf in my moms classroom when I was in sixth grade. I had heard a little about it, and it sounded like an interesting story. I’m so glad I did. This story remains my favorite book. It is beautifully written, and the use of Death as the narrator- it’s incredible. As much as I love and treasure this book, I do have to say it is not for everyone. Many think it is a little slow, and they are correct- but the story is just so beautifully told, I was captivated. If you are a fan of historical fiction, % recommend. If not, I still suggest you give it a chance.

7. Fist book on my list - I don’t usually read books but for some reason I couldn’t peel my eyes away from “ the book thief”. it’s a wonderful story filled with humor and grief. Part of me wished the book never ended but of course everything ends. I recommend reading it, trust me it’s worth the time:)
2019-01-24
8. Beautifully detailed - This has become one of my all time favorite books ever!! It was completely unexpected, it’s written... I don’t know how to put it into words; written in full color is the best description I have. I recommend it to anyone I know that loves a good book, and would be mandatory lit reading if I had a say :)

9. Life changing - The narrator is death itself. That should tell you that this book is like nothing you’ve ever read before. The book has a very morbid mood, and I’m warning you, you will cry. But no matter how much you don’t like depressing books, you have to read The Book Thief. It will not only change your perspective on World War II and the Holocaust, but also life itself. It is just so beautifully written with so many important themes, it’s no wonder that it will go down as one of the best books ever written. Interesting and hauntingly beautiful style, amazing characters, heart wrenching story, it really is a perfect book.

10. My favorite book of all time. - The book thief has been and probably will be my favorite book of all time. This book has so many amazing moments. Not only in the story line but in the words. It has this way of making you feel like you are in the book seeing everything. The way the words are placed and said is a magical thing that is a very rare talent. This book is amazing and everyone should read it.

11. BOOK THIEF - I started book yesterday morning. I had nothing to do for day so I sat, in my nightgown, reading. It captured me. I read until am. The my eyes were so blurry from needing sleep, I had to stop. It is a fantastic tale, well carried off. Brilliant narrator.fascinating view of history. Really believable if you accept the narrator. Found it hard to put down. (Obviously).
Looking forward to authors other books. It was that good.

12. The Book Thief - Fabulous story extremely well-plotted and well-written. As with all great art, not only does the message inspire with its passion, but it also unlocks insight and understanding... and like all timeless art - the medium is fresh, inventive and entertaining. The autor does things with the English language that will inspire young readers to take a new interest in how writing can shape their world. This book will be a classic.

13. A different perspective - As a tale set in Natzi Germany during WWII, this book is not what you would expect. It shows the suffering of all Germans, not just the Jews. It also gives a glimpse of the day to day life of poor German children and struggles both large and small. You really get to know the characters.

1. Overwhelming powerful - This is a story of love, difference, belonging, hope, forgiveness, and recognition of all of those aforementioned things that make us uniquely human. The characters in this story pull you in and you quickly feel as though you have known them and perhaps even been friends with them for a lifetime. If you need a story that makes you remember or believe in the power of story telling, this is it.

2. Incredible - SLIGHT SPOILER FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN’T READ IT This book is amazing. Amazing, but tragic. I was saddened by the ending. I was blown away by this book and educated by the events explained in it, as I was with both of Ruta Sepetys’ other books. Extremely well written, and I loved how you saw the perspectives of multiple characters, it gave you a really good understanding of what was going on. Overall, definitely recommend, amazing book and an amazing author.

3. Deserves an award - I absolutely adore this book. Each page keeps you turning and it is interesting to see the different characters and how they change throughout the book. It is heartbreaking yet so fulfilling. I have read and re-read this book more times than I can count, and it never fails to make me laugh, cry, and smile. Each and every word is completely and utterly worth it. I would recommend this book ten times out of ten.

4. Amazing - I loved the switching of perspective and I really thought it enhanced the story. The problems of the characters were real and the characters were compelling but flawed just enough to make them human and relatable. The world needs to know of this tragedy and the number of souls that it took from this world. They also need to know about selfishness of some and what at selfishness caused them. (Spoilers read on at your own risk) The one thing I thought could have been better was Emilia's last chapter after we can come to the conclusion that she has died. In the chapter she speaks about her daughter (about - at the time) Halinka and other family members or friends that have died or she has been separated from. You can interpret it that Emilia is dead and this is her Heaven or she is on the verge of death and is dreaming/hallucinating it all. Other than that I give this a ten out of ten for its compelling characters and interesting plot. I thought it was wonderfully written and the changing of perspective and how different all of the character traits were was refreshing. It brought a new modern light on a old tragedy the world has forgotten and left behind in its past.

5. Beautifully written - Read it in one night, beautifully written. Like many other readers had never heard of this nautical disaster till I read the book. Appreciated how much research Sepetys put into the novel. Left me searching for more details about Gustloff, Prussia and the Baltics during WWII. Highly recommend it.

6. Love the perspective but ending was a little shaky - Having four people talk in this book was very different at first but once you know everyone's background, it's quite easy to follow. This also shows many different sides of war. The details this story unfolds about the war is remarkable and provides so much insight as to what really happened. I have to say though I did not like the ending as how it was abrupt. Other than that I loved the book and its history. I also loved how since four people were telling the story the chapters are very short. Usually only - pages which keeps you reading. I would definitely recommend this to anyone.

7. Speechless - As a current Soldier in the Army, I am blown away that I had never heard of this historical event. Aside from that, it is very rare that I connect with characters in such a deep way that I am genuinely saddened and, in this case, brought to tears by the outcome. This is, in my opinion, the best book I've ever read.

1. % - I highly recommend this book, we had to read it in middle school and the rest of my class thought it was okay but not me. I loved this book so much after we finished reading it sadly they had to send the book back to it s previous owners. But I still decided to head to the library and check it out cause I LOVED that book so much!
Great job Laurie this book was so extraordinary!!!!

2. AMAZING - Ok, this book got me glued to it. I had to tear my eyes off of the pages when I needed to get something done. There were times when i rooted for Isabelle, wanted to slap Mrs. Lockton, and do it all at once! Loved this book, would recommend it to anyone to likes black history and the revolution. Laurie Halse Anderson has once again captured my heart in this beloved novel. (I also recommend reading the series. Those were just stunning.)

3. A True Work Of Art - I could not put this book down after turning that first page, the story is written beautifully and the storyline and charecters are well developed. I practically backflipped out of my chair after seeing there was a second book. I recommend this to anyone who wants to read a trully engaging story

4. I'm so impressed - I'm so Impressed with this book; I had to purchase it for my U.S. History class, and I didn't expect myself to enjoy it so much. This book was truly amazing; it puts us in perspective of Isabel and her struggles. Like many slaves during this time era, she was mistreated by her owner.
Laurie Halse Anderson did such a great job! I can't wait to read Forge!

5. Chains to forge - This book is amazing I read it in school and have loved it . You should read it (p.s)Ruth is "sold" . That part made me cry tearing the bond of sisters .it makes me think of me and my sister .Also when Isabel got branded I poured my heart out. Now reading forge can't wait for ashes .

6. From Chains to Freedom.... - This is one of the better historical fiction books I have read. Laurie Halse Anderson is an author who writes meaningful novels, that actually have lessons and morals. My favorite thing about this book is that it is told from a young slave's point of view, which I have never seen before. Each of her book's is different/unique and I would recommend at least reading one of Laurie's books. Not a fan of historical fiction? Read Speak. It is written by the same author and is realistic fiction!

2. The heartbreak I felt… - This book is something alright. Frustrating, addictive, heartbreaking, thrilling, etc I could go on I couldn’t stop reading. I cried and yelled reading this book but I can say that I never felt more Heartbreak for a character that wasn’t important ever! The character development that the girls had, won’t spoil it but one in particular really made me feel for her. Great read, great series so far can’t wait to finish it!
2022-01-02
3. Innocent young romance - I’ve read The Selection, The Elite and The One . These books were ok . The typical love triangle , back and forth . The main character a young emotional teenage girl going thru all feelings of having love interests. The romance definitely fell short but I guess to be expected for a teen novel ?! I got done with the rd novel and didn’t have the interest to move on . I’m glad she ended up with the man I was rooting for , that’s what saved my interest in these books .

4. amazing!! i would sell everything to re-read this series again. i’m not kidding - i. love. it. i have no words to describe the feeling this book gives you. i hated reading until i read the selection series. it pulls you in and i could not stop reading. i love these books so much i can’t even describe it. my standards are set to the top for books and life in general. these books are magical. if you read this series your life with CHANGE

5. Trust me, read this series - I never liked reading books. But when I first opened up the selection I feel in love. I read each book within days. Now I just finished this book so I haven’t finished the series yet but I love it!! This book so far is my favorite! ( spoiler )- I’m really upset this is the End of America and maxon love story. But I get it what else can you write about them. I’m excited to see what the book about their daughter will be like. But after reading this book I did cry a lot! But I totally recommend!

6. Love - I just love the series when I got the first book I actually liked Aspen at first then he broke up with America I was like I hate him. I will for ever be on team Maxon. When Aspen was pursuing America I wanted him to die but I am and he ended up with Lucy and I was like I love him now and him and Lucy are perfect together!!!!
2020-05-22
7. What a page turner! - This one is BY FAR THE BEST in the series!! I loved the outcome of it. The books in this series were all page turners and had me completely wrapped up in Maxon’s and America’s relationship! I loved Aspen in the beginning, but I was rooting for Maxon the whole time! Sooo good! I have read books that have more of a mature or rather poetic type of writing, which I prefer, but this series is definitely on my list of favorites. I encourage you to read it!
2020-02-10
8. Good Book - I really like the series, my favorite is the first one. The Elite dragged on a little bit but i still really liked it. The One was great but I wish the ending was more satisfying. Everything felt so rushed like SPOILERS America and aspen were discovered and then Maxon hated her and then the rebels attacked and people died and they got married, it was all so FAST! I really wish that Maxon and America had more time together before they got married because it seemed like it was rushed. But overall I love the series, I’ve reread it so many times because it’s so good. Much better than the Matched books. All in all, you should definitely read this series if you like dystopian settings, romance, and a good love triangle. Though there is some “action” in it, this book isn’t really intended to be an action book and romance is really its strong suit so you should focus on that instead. The action plot line wasn’t as fleshed out as other dystopian books I’ve read but the romance was great because it’s a ROMANCE book.

9. I’m in love ! - Thank you Kiera Cass for making this series an experience I will never forget! Of course I had some least favorite parts like the continuous arguments between America and Maxon but in the end it worked out! I love the way the characters have changed throughout the series and I’m just going to say this now but I cried MANY times throughout this book! The hardships and emotions in this book are so realistic !Kiera’s writing is PHENOMENAL and I can’t wait to read the extras! P.s If you don’t like violence then this series is not for you!
2020-01-07
10. A fantastic read - This is the third book in the series and I love it. It draws you in from page one and it is has more mature scenes than the Selection or the Elite. So maybe for a little older audiences... I couldn’t put it down and it even made me cry (just a little bit!.) again it’s worth it. I recommended it to some of my friends and most of them loved it! If romance isn’t ya thing than I wouldn’t recommend it but if it is... then READ IT! you will NOT regret it.

11. Awesome book!!! - I love this book and I wish there were more like it.I love how Keira Cass always made the chapters end on cliffhanger making readers yearn for more.Almost every Selection series book I have read, I have stayed up late finishing them and I don’t regret it. Anyways,I really want to say thank you to Keira Cass for making my life feel magical.
2019-10-03
12. AMAZING - I love these books sooooooo much write more. This is not hate mail but America and Maxon didn’t like each other the whole Elite. And I hated how America and Aspen were caught. Also I wanted clarkson to know about August and gorgia. And I want to know why the king hated America I get that she was a throw away but why. Also why did America’s dad die right in the middle of whatever was going on. And why did it have to be her dad couldn’t it have been her mom or butt face Kota.
2019-04-01
13. Good Books - I love this Book like seriously I know it was a big different between Aspen and Maxon like seriously it was really confusing at the second Books which is “The Elite” you see America Singer have a bit a of anger issue in between with her two year relationship with Aspen Leger sense someone Birthday Party in the Basement he gave her a Birthday Card “meet me at midnight up in a tree house” that how it all started with Aspen and America loves story. This is the information of The Selections from the First Books Then later on in her Seventeen Year Old Year her Family is amazing and gifted artist and singer so well being good family that anyone could ever Wishes to have that. But America and Her Mother it seem like those two fight sometime about different things or somethings. Then her Mom asked America if she wanted get her photo taken at a place where she have to wait with mom in line to get it done. That when America met Aspen Mom and His Twin Sister (very awkward for America) so after all of that was taken care of. One Friday night was a Report Show with Maxon And his Family. Speaking about the beginning of a new Selections for the prince. Then later on in the next week after that as well Aspen and America have a good conversation usually and so on about how Aspen Family was broken or poor and needed a Jobs Play helping out his Twin Sister. Then sooner in the week the person who is coming to some girls house with a packed of paperwork to fill and sign in plus read it all. America wasn’t happy she was angry and confuse with her relationship with Aspen and all. Then she met the prince and his Family with all of the Girls there from the beginning she began friending Marlee Tames Who is sweet thoughtful and compassion and good personality as well. The Mean Girl is Celeste Newsome annoying rich teenage person. And also there is Kriss. Thank you for enjoying my details with everyone. Hope I did good

14. Best book serie ever! - The first book I read from the serie was the second one and I fell in love with it. After that I read the first one and then the third. I have never been the type of person who is always reading a book, I actually read so little that when I read this serie, I was surprised at how fast I could read a book I loved. I fell in love with all the characters. This book is so unpredictable and that made me keep reading it nonstop. I would go to sleep at like : a.m. reading to find out what happens every time. The thrill, mystery and romace are my favorite genres and these books have all three. I would % recommend this book to people, special teenage girls such as myself. Never in my life have I read a book that I actually wanted to read isntead of watching Netflix or Youtube. I am so sad I finished the three books and im soooo looking foward to reading the next. I would smile, laugh and even cry a little bit while reading this greatness. I hope the author keeps writting books like these, specially for teenagers because before this I berely read anything at all and now I’m asking for the next book. This is honestly the best books I have ever read and I will surely read the again later on in the future.

15. Great book, But I wish it were a little different.... - Don’t get me wrong, I love this series, but as a was reading through the comments I had to agree with some of them. America gets way too hurt by what people say to her. I for one, would be way more excited by the series if she were a stronger person. She cries almost every time someone says something hurtful. I get that she should show emotion, but she should be a little stronger.

My opinion - Book is just absolutely my favorite out of the series can I just say Maxon and America are meant for each other even in the beginning of the book America wasn’t into him at all, but she got to know him a little bit hang out with him more and just see what kind of person he really was Prince/king or not she sees him as just Maxon and not a one that rules the country. That what I love about this book. Except her “affair” with Aspen she should of just ended it when it got serious with her and Maxon, I know that was her backup, but come on America you can’t be playing with guys at the same time just choose one! Although I loved Aspen too Maxon is just who I love more. XOXO

17. Loved - I have loved this series since the first page! I have read all of the add on stories to the characters and have been so pleased at the wonderful writing. I wish there was more to read just I didn’t have to put the series down after I was done with it. I have read it multiple times as well! Thank you for the amazing books that I was able to find and read!

18. Just A Small Town Girl - I'm not a book critic. I didn't go through years of school. I'm just a teenage girl who is in love with America Singer and Macon Schreave and Aspen Leger and May Singer and Celeste Newsome and Amberly Schreave and so many more characters from this series. I NEVER post reviews or anything related to it, but this is worth the five minutes of typing. I LOVE this series. I have actually read it twice so far, and again, it swept me through so many different emotions. I honestly couldn't tell you how many times I cried and laughed. It's a work of art. A work of beautiful, unbelievably real art. It's the perfect escape from the obstacles of life. As I sat through hours of lectures in my small high school, I pondered different situations and emotions and tones of the book. The Selection series is something I will never get over. Something I will never stop obsessing about. Thank you for blessing the human race with this series and characters and you. Thank you for this beautiful, unbelievably real art.

19. The One - OMG!! Can't I just say what an amazing book this was and the other two books too. I am so happy that I took the time to read Americas story! I loved the thrill I had to read all the suspenseful parts I loved the heartfelt moments!! I seriously felt like I was living in this story, I felt like I was America! I can't wait to read The Heir!!

20. Admiration, Adoration, America Singer - This book is the perfect completion to a wonderful, not-to-graceful, but magical series. I have loved turning every page throughout it. Although there are many fairy tales out there, this one is like no other. Everyone says that, but it does what a book was written for: to sweep you up into a world that is entirely new and original; and to make you feel something.

21. Just buy the whole series and get it over with..! - So.... I've read this series not once but twice now and let me tell you there is not another series that I prefer more! The suspense, bickering, and love story that you get when you read this makes you feel like you are literally experiencing it first hand. The reviews I read about it said the series was a lot like a mixture between The Bachelor and The Hunger Games and, just to clarify, whoever wrote that review was spot on. My hat is off to Kiera Cass because even though I knew the ending while reading the series a second time, I couldn't help but smile, cry, laugh, and hold my breath with anticipation with every chapter that I read! So if you're debating on whether or not you should buy this book/entire series.... STOP! Go ahead and buy it and I promise you won't be sorry! If I'm being really honest, you will probably read the whole series in a matter of days. (Because that's what I did both times lol) Ok I'm done praising go buy the series and enjoy just as much as I do!

1. Nice story - This book was the most clear and straightforward story about the Holocaust, stating every detail and most important, sad moments in the life of a young innocent child who saw all that happened to the Jews and did better in this situation that the authorities. The lesson of true friendship was beautiful to read about when the narrator uses the language of love for a friend. Bruno did anything he could just to be with his friend Shmuel for a very last moment at the end. The story also had the saddest ending too. I loved it, the moral and characters and everything!! Highly recommend!!!

2. The boy in the striped pajamas review - This book was very emotional and it was heartwarming in parts and funny in others and in other parts it was just down right heartbreaking. I recommend you give this book a read if you are within - grade as it contains very emotional parts and also extreme parts like the end that I won’t spoil and the fact that there is an internment camp and the usage of “phase” in this book. Overall very good read. I highly recommend this book.

3. Heartbreaking and Warming - This story pushed and pulled at my heart strings the entire way through. The character development and detail was captivating and made me feel as though i was a part of the story as well. The pure innocence of our protagonist was beautifully portrayed, and honestly i would read this again. Much better than the adaption (the movie) in terms of the characters, giving each their own backstory and adding depth to them. Would recommend and absolutely adored every moment of it. ^-^

4. Best Holocaust book I have read!! - I first read this book at age or for reading class (it was like a chose a book assignment) my teacher thought that it would be too mature or too upsetting for me but it changed my views on the holocaust. I used to think that children weren't treated as poorly but after reading this book I realized that everyone was treated bad then. I recommend this book! After you can also watch the movie, I believe it's on Netflix it was a very good movie.

5. The Boy in the Striped Pajamas Summary - This book will send you on an emotion rollercoaster! Yes it is about the horrible time, the holocaust. This book is not your normal "holocaust" story. This story is about Bruno a young curious little boy who moves from Berlin to Poland. In a new house he calls "Out-With" how he pronounces it, or Auschwitz. Bruno has an older sister Gretel, who is fascinated by dolls (she collects them.)He has a mother who basically is commanded by his father. His father (a soldier) has been transferred to Poland to an Auschwitz concentration camp. But Bruno being only years just thinks he moving to a different house that has fence some miles away with people in the striped pajamas. As I said before it's not your typical Holocaust book. Bruno and his family are not Jewish. They are the "opposite". Bruno missing his " best friends for life" Bruno decides to go exploring behind the walls of his new house. He comes upon a boy in striped pajamas. His name is Shmuel. They start talking, but Shmuel is behind the fence. After that every afternoon they go on hours covering about themselves. After a year or so, Bruno and Gretel get lice. Their mother is furious and demands to go back to Berlin. Bruno tells Shmuel he is going back to his "home". Shmuel tells him his father is missing. Bruno tells him they can look for evidence the following day. The next day Shmuel brings him a pair of striped pajamas and a striped cap. This will help him "blend" in. After searching for / hour, the soldiers tell them to March. Its pouring rain so they think that they are going into shelter. When the arrive in a long house. Then... I don't want to spoil anything but I'm pretty sure everyone knows what happens. This book does not have a happy ending. It does not tell you anything in detail. It gives you subtle hints to what is happening. Yet it is told in the eyes of an year old. I hope this book gives you an eye opener of what is what like back in Germany. If this does not give you some sort of an emotional feedback then you have not had the full effect of what the book is intended to do. Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoy this book.

6. AWWWWW - This book is the best book I have ever read, not just for the heart and soul of the characters, but the sweet innocence. This book is amazing. The word "amazing" actually doesn't even do the book justice. If you live heartfelt, traffic, books about love and caring for others you will love this book so much. I know I did. I just finished reading it minutes ago and I loved it. I've never been able to read book more than once, but this book, I could read a million times!

1. Emotional and Moving - When I first started reading the book and immediately I could not put it down. It was one of the few books that moved me to tears and cry my heart out in the end. I highly recommend this book to anyone. I wish I could re-read the book again for the first time. Please read this book you won’t regret it.

2. The Light in Hidden Places - It’s amazing, everything about WWIl for me a woman from Puerto Rico who loves to read. They are so real, scary but beautiful, to have so courage, only thinking what a human been should be. Thank you, for this opportunity. From the island of enchantment, excuse my writing, Spanish is my first language. Gracias

3. Such an incredibly moving tragic story - The devastation and terror these people were forced to endure was soul crushing and the bravery of one girl who had lost virtually everyone she’d loved but had found her young sister and protected her fiercely in such dangerous and destructive circumstances is unbelievably courageous and a testament to the power of human will where love is concerned. The fact this is a true story snd these two sisters outsmarted and brilliantly managed to survive years of staying alive and fairly well was unprecedented but to think they’d even managed to save more lives hiding them in heroic feats to keep the Jewish not only hidden safely but fed and went through exceptionally terrifying experiences and too many close calls but their ability to preserve through the most unimaginable fear and harrowing ordeals in the process was just remarkable

1. Not worthy of the genre - I’m not sure why this author chose to write a historical....romance...or whatever genre this is. I couldn’t make it halfway. I think she has some talent, but should stay away from historical subjects if she’s not going to bother to learn anything about the time she is writing about.

1. Not what I expected from the author.. - I have been such a huge fan of Ruta’s for a few years now. Her two books, Between Shades of Gray & Salt to the Sea, both moved me. Both books made me feel what the main characters felt & was left wanting more from their stories. Especially Between Shades of Gray, wanting to know how they found their way back to each other, how they survived the remaining years, etc; but this book was nothing like those. I think it had the best potential possible, but when you’re going through points of views & the way every chapter is told, I just couldn’t get into it. This book had such a hype about it that I was utterly disappointed. I gave it a just because the author did her research & like in every book, I gained an inside perspective of historical situations I wasn’t entirely aware of, but this just wasn’t her best work, in my opinion. I will still read her next book. I am looking for a redemption novel to follow this.

2. Pretty good - This book is, as my title says, pretty good. I have to admit I expected a little more impact from Ruta Sepetys just because of the incredibly high standards her other books have set. I think she could have had more of a buildup in the plot and a more powerful ending. Doesn’t mean it was bad, I guess I was just slightly disappointed and expected a little more from Ruta Sepetys. Overall though, it was a good book. I would recommend.

3. The Fountains of Silence - This book is an outstanding read. A beautiful love story that draws you into the city of Madrid and what life was like there in the s. Madrid is now a beautiful and vibrant city, it was atonishing to read about how difficult life was there not too long ago. The young people living in Madrid at that time would be in their s now, the same age as our grandparents and the age of many of my rehab patients. Makes me wonder what stories they have to tell if you have the time and patient to really listen.

1. Read this book too many times to count - This book is so good I couldn’t put it down and it gives a very good example on how children were treated in the death camps and work camps that there was no sympathy towards anyone of them even a non-Jews. And the different camps to different rules like some camps bit less brutal than others all and all this book is amazing

2. This is the best book EVER - I love this book I've read it times it's so action packed and suspenseful and really hooked me. I never wanted to stop reading this book. The book is all about ww and how the nazis treated the Jews the main character in the book is Yanek Gruner also known as Jack Gruner he survived through all seven death camps and the death marches he started at age and went to age . Though I don't recommend this book for kids - years old.

Loved it and other books are just as amazing as well! Would def recommend… enjoy!!!!!!

4. A fun, fluffy YA dystopian romance that will have you hooked. - I didn’t think I was going to like this book, but I did! The Selection takes place in a futuristic version of the United States, where a royal family rules and the citizens are separated by a harsh caste system. Every time a male heir comes of age, the royal family holds a Selection- a competition in which thirty-five girls from across the country compete for the throne. America Singer has always been cynical about the Selection. But when she’s drafted for the competition, she reluctantly agrees to join. As she fights for the heart of a prince she doesn’t even know, America will discover a whole new world within the palace walls. The plot of The Selection can feel tropey and predictable at times (love triangles and not-like-other-girls are the most common ones here) but I definitely think The Selection is worth reading. I would like to warn, however, that the fourth and fifth books are not as great as the first three. But overall, this series is super addictive and bingeable!

5. So. Good. - I read all books in days and I have no regrets. All the tears and stress were % worth it. I would do anything just to have this experience again for the first time. From the first page you are hooked and cannot stop reading! Perfect mix of romance and dystopia. I loved every second of this story.

6. The Bachelor: Dystopian Edition - While by no means a literary masterpiece, The Selection is a highly entertaining and addicting read. If I were to be critical, I might have a problem with the iffy world building and cliche characters. The only thing that I had a problem with was America Singer, whose name is almost as annoying as she is. Don’t get me wrong, she’s the typical nice MC...but incredibly indecisive in everything. Instead of creating tension, she just comes across as annoying. She’s also hypocritical in the love triangle, and her frequent breakdowns made it hard to empathize when it really mattered (mostly Book ). Overall, it was a really entertaining series that I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a fun read.

7. Beautifully written - It’s been hard to come across great books and with quarantine still here it’s even harder to find something that captures my interest, but this series does just that. The brilliant romance between America, Maxon, and Aspen is one that causes you to feel butterflies in your stomach and your eyes to sweat salty tears. Each chapter leaves you wanting more and when I finished the first one I had to read the rest. The Selection gives you a whirlwind of emotions that can only be satisfied by reading the entire series. If you’re looking for a book or series that will keep you entertained then I highly recommend this one.

8. LOVE - I love this book soooo much, i’ve read it a while ago and still to this day can’t stop reading it. It is one of the truest romance stories i’ve read in a long time. i

9. Best Series Ever - This book is sooo good!! Highly recommend! The whole series is amazing and a very quick read if you have time on your hands. The only thing I would change about the series is they are TOO short. I would have liked them to be a little longer but they are perfect otherwise. I have read this series a trillion times and find more things to love about it each time!! I am also sooo excited for the Netflix movie being made on it!! Make sure to read the books first!! teammaxonforever

10. Pretty good series. - So I’ve read the books in this series about America and it was a pretty good story. I do wish the writing was stronger. There are a lot of unanswered questions in the series and I feel like the author could have done more when explaining/describing things. Pretty disappointed the author didn’t continue America’s story with the th and th book. Overall it’s a good read but that’s about it.

11. Really good - The selection was suspenseful and humorous, withered a,axing characters. My favorite characters were probably America, Maxon and (if you can believe it,) Celest. Their personalities were unique and very powerful. America was funny and courageous, but but still had many feelings. Maxon was funny and shy, and probably my favorite character. Celest was sassy, commanding, and was not afraid to hurt someone to get what she wanted. Those types of characters add a lot to the story. I’m definitely rooting for America and Maxon. This was an amazing story.

12. I very good series to read. - The books in this series were all page turners and had me completely wrapped up in Maxon’s and America’s relationship! I loved Aspen in the beginning, but I was rooting for Maxon the whole time! Sooo good! I have read books that have more of a mature or rather poetic type of writing, which I prefer, but this series is definitely on my list of favorites. I encourage you to read it!

13. The Selection - I LOVE THIS BOOK and the series! I couldn’t put it down. It is a well written book and you really do love all the characters (minus a few) I do know it is worth the read. At first I was a little iffy because I didn’t think I would like all that princess stuff, but it is not at all what you think! It’s unpredictable and shocking. It has some violence however with the southern rebels and some injuries and fights, and it has a lot of romance. I love it so much. The whole series is fantastic. Worth the read. Trust. Me.

14. FAVORITE BOOK ALERT - I adore this book! I have read it, digitally and on paper, a total of times, with many more to come. This story of romance and confusion and heartbreak is touching, funny, sweet, and nothing short of amazing. This book holds the highest of recommendations from me. It has truly changed my life. I will never forget this tale, nor will I ever stop loving it. Thank you, Kiera Cass, for making this masterpiece.

15. oddly enjoyable - I was aware while reading this book that if wasn't very good. The dialogue was often corny, and the plot was incredibly predictable. However, I became very attached to the characters, and my inner thirteen-year-old-who-wants-to-be-a-princess was thriving. This is a guilty pleasure book for every girl that has delusions of grandeur

17. So amazing - This. Series. Is. Literally. The. Best! I’ve reread it all five times and still not bored of it. So so romantic and cute, and the plot was so unique and captivating. And the characters are soo fantastic especially America she’s just so great. These books will make you laugh, cry, and pretty much every emotion. Definitely read these books they will be worth it. Kiera Cass is an amazing and talented writer.

18. Cute book - Even though this book was the bachelor and cheesy, it was honestly super cute! I really enjoyed the cuteness and love. I don’t read gushy types of books, but this was an exception. A few action moments but mostly competition, poor girls. But I’ve seen this book since elementary school and I finally read it in college! Definitely a younger reader book, but all over cute.

1. Good historical fiction for kids - While other great books for spurring kids’ imaginations are out there, you can’t beat historical fiction. Not only does Eagle of the Ninth (yes, that’s the full title) have action and suspense, it also provides kids with a glimpse into Roman life in England during Roman rule. Here we encounter native tribes rebelling against their foreign oppressors (a current theme today), imperialism, clash of religions, in short- the Nightly News in an easily read novel. This books will fascinate kids with the way Roman soldiers coped with the foreign land, worshiped their own gods, and held everything together with their codes and discipline. It didn’t exactly work for them, but that is what the book is trying to teach. We can do far worse than hand our kids well researched historical novels for them to read, and hopefully learn from the lessons of the past.

2. It's Fine... - Don't listen to the other review. Admittedly, it's not a great work of literature, but it's an amusing and meaningful children's novel. Eagle of the Hater has no taste, preferring simplistic trash to stories with depth and meaning. And finally, the title is wrong. It's "The Eagle of the Ninth." The movie, which turns the book into the sort of garbage Eagle of the Hater likes, is called "The Eagle."

Intertwined in this tale of love are notes of loss, darkness, passion—and outright hilarity! Quinn Loftis’ finale for the Clan Hakon Series is not to be missed. Bravo!

3. I felt every bit of emotion, beautifully crafted! - I read this book close to years ago; maybe longer. I ran across it again after not reading [in general] for a very long time. I’m a lover of historical work, be it fiction or non. Rather; illustrating time lines of tragedy that cannot be prepared for, the way the individuals handled it, and not being able to control the emotional bond writers captivate me by the word context. I, by no means, am formally literal. I love different eras. I love morbid — anything. I love science. History. I love an author such as Laurie whom creates a story with the intent of putting you as the main protagonist!

4. BEST BOOK EVER - I'm going into th grade and this is the book I chose to read for my summer reading project. I'll admit, at first the book was a little boring, but after I got into it I couldn't put it down. My mom even had to take the book away from me at night so I wouldn't stay up too late. (Although idk why, it's summer I can stay up as late as I want)

1. A favorite for over a decade - Easily one of my favorite books ever since I first read it while in middle school. I’m almost now and I’ve read this book probably close to times. I love it every time. It’s such a comfort read for me. It’s so well written. Annie is such a strong female lead but the hint of romance is so well placed. Thomas Walker was my first book boyfriend and honestly I’m still in love with him.

1. Well written and enjoyed since - Until it was misplaced and never found, I never went anywhere without my paperback copy of Distant Waves. I originally purchased the book in as an eleven year old and as I near my twenties, I find the book to still be highly enjoyable. The book covers many interesting characters and topics such as feminist characters, race and racism in the s, dysfunctional families, and the spiritualist movement. In regards to history, the book does a fantastic job covering the life of Nikola Tesla and a riveting though fictional account of the Titanic's sinking. Love the book just as much as I did seven years ago and I can't praise it enough.

1. A favorite of my youth - I asked to take this from my English teacher before he donated a box and I’m glad I did. It’s a book I have read multiple times and as a kid I was inspired to draw pictures of some of my favorite scenes. It’s a good glimpse into the time period and keeps you wanting to read.

2. Memorable - I started reading this book at about pm once finished at pm. Now I am one of those people who doesn’t read books unless I like them. I read that boon in a hour and I read faster the better the book is. So as you can image I was very very happy and curious what he(Main protagonist) was going to do next. The setting is amazing, as is the story. The story is a deep cave you just wanna explore deeper and deeper. It’s one of my favorite books ever. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is interested in history. And, you should always read more than once like I did I read that years ago still reading it to this day.

4. Excellent Read - I chose this book to read with a small group of advanced th graders that I spend lunch with once a week. We collectively broke the book down into four sections, planning to write reading responses and discuss the novel during our lunch meetings. I hadn't read it yet. I started it on a Friday night and ended up reading it in one whack! I am now wondering if my students are doing the same. A fabulous tale of survival that made me laugh out loud one page and cry the next. Spinelli does an excellent job bringing this piece of history to life. I am looking forward to hearing what my student have to say!

5. Milkweed by: Jerry Spinelli - I think this book goes beyond the old, original, and boring Social studies/history books. It uses imagination and sticks to history so kids (and adults) aren't confused by the data given. All in all, if you despiced books before you wont anymore after you read this novel. (Just a little side note: i'm an eight grader now, but i read this book in my th grade year... so best believe i was another simple minded teen who wouldn't dare read a book until Jerry S. came and given me this novel... I was very hesitant about reading

6. I can't get enough! They should make this a movie for the oscars! - We are reading this in class in th grade and I don't read a lot and I must say I would read this times over and over again. I can't get enough! If there were more stars on here I would so go for the highest! They should make this book a movie!

7. I'm speechless - Of all the great books we read in school, this has to be one of my favoite. It really makes you think about all of the troubles that people went through, and how horrible these innocent people were treated. At the end of the novel, you can really see how the character changed, even if it's not an obvious one. Overall, one of Spinelli's best works.
