1. Anthology - grab a short story and embrace the dark side. - Shadowed Souls is a collection of amazing authors writing shorts to tantalize and expound your imagination. Shadowed Souls is an anthology of short dark urban fantasies that give you a taste for authors you might not have discovered as well as ones you’ve come to love. There are fae, zombies, wizards, genies and more, pretty much providing something for everyone. All these stories are dark, with some shorter than others and the villain that might just turn out not to always being the bad guy/girl. Quick and enjoyable, Shadowed Souls this is the perfect book to try new authors, grab a short story and embrace the dark side. I received this ARC copy of Shadowed Souls from Berkley Publishing Group - Roc in exchange for a honest review.

1. Raggedy Rouges - Anthologies are always a mixed bag and this book is no exception. If science fiction is your favorite genre this book might be a disappointment. Though all of the writing is good, some stories are more satisfying than others. It is always a treat to read the all too rare pieces by Patrick Rothfuss, I Was less than engaged by George R R Martins's boring genealogy of an obscure fictional ruler and couldn't wait to get through a long story by another author about a teenager waiting in line at a futuristic mega cineplex. Overall I'm happy to have read the book but don't think I'll be searching for "Martin for my next read.

1. Magic in small doses. - I enjoyed this collection very much for the most part and it introduced me to some writers and characters and realms that were heretofore unknown to me and I look forward to exploring many of these on a larger field soon. I have to admit though, the name of Rothfuss was one of the main reasons I purchased this book and, as he has pretty much given up on the Kingkiller books, I was hoping for a little Kvothe origin story or something along those lines. What I got instead was something unexpectedly silly and pointless. Sorry Patrick but I bet even Shawn was disappointed in that effort.

2. Unfettered - This is a wonderful collection of novellas/short stories from many of my favorite authors. Having RSD/CRPS-each of these authors envelopes me in different worlds where, for awhile, my pain recedes to the background and no longer rules my life. This is indeed magic of the greatest kind! The reason for Unfettered spoke to my heart as we each choose to make something 'right' for someone else in this sometimes difficult journey through life. Well done, good and faithful servants! Now, on to The Dark Thorn - my curiosity has been aroused Mr. Speakman ... I must learn more about the Word and the knights who protect both our world and that of the fey in Annwn.

1. Recommended - Charmed by the Moon
This is a novella about Will and Jessie from Blue Moon. They find something disturbing and go in search of answers before their wedding. Will they discover everything they thought was true has been a lie? I really enjoyed this quick glimpse into their future. A Hard Day's Night Searcher
This was a good story but it wasn’t long enough. I felt like things progressed a little to fast and we missed a lot of them getting to know each other. Rafael is a Dark-Hunter, and Celena is a squire assigned to a different Hunter. She has been in love with him for awhile, but they are forbidden to have a relationship. Will they be able to find a way to be together or are they destined to live their lives separately?

1. A magnificent book! - While I was rather bothered that some stories seemed to either lack a dangerous women or one seemed to be placed in the story so that it might apply better to the title, the book as a whole is great, the different authors and styles offered a variety of perspective on what makes women dangerous.

1. Another home run. - If you're looking for a book of short stories in the typical twisted mythical wonderland style that Gaiman is famous for, you won't be disappointed. Most of the stories were really good (with the occasional dud), some were downright amazing. Worth every penny. On a side note. If you loved American Gods, this book is a must have just for the follow up story about Shadow.

1. Thick as Castle Wall - Was I till GRRM should me the wonderful world of Westeros. Filled with all manners of people, beasts and the promise of Dragons. To learn about the travels of Dunk and his young Squire is to get a true sense of what the open road should be like, adventure that is of uncertain outcome.
If you start to read these tales use caution, it will be hard to enjoy other books.
Enjoy

1. Good Themed Anthology by Master Editor - This anthology assembled by master editor John Joseph Adams is themed around the aftermath of the apocalypse. We rarely see in the stories the end itself; instead we view the results of what happened on our characters and the world around them. My favorite story ended up being “Ginny Sweethips' Flying Circus" by Neil Barrett, Jr., a well published author I had never read before. The image of the genetically modified sentient animals like Possum Dark, who really likes shooting up the landscape when he gets a chance, really stuck with me. Like any anthology, some stories will be more to the readers taste than others, but overall I found these well chosen, and worth reading. There are some entries by major authors here, and authors you might be unfamiliar with. Each story has a nice introduction, which provides a bit of background on its writer as well.

1. Finally over - I was hoping the writing style from the last book wouldn’t be repeated in this one, but sadly it continued. Although I will say the jumping around between characters wasn’t quite as bad. For some reason it rubbed me the wrong way that this book focused a lot of Tress’ point of view. I liked Anna as the main character. Being combined with two other people is a weird concept and I was wondering how the author was going to accomplish this and I gotta say it’s kinda lame. I’d have been more pleased if Te and Tress still existed afterwards just all the magic was split and then pulled back to Anna, while the other two remained who they were just without the royal magic. The ending felt rushed as well. Like all of a sudden Tress knows what the corpuscle is(even though it’s only just been fully relieved to us as the reader moments ago, during the perspective of Fuller). Also now Tress’ mission includes stealing the corpuscle? and an owl swoops in to save the day? Overall it’s a good story, unique and there’s a lot of thought out into it. But I just don’t like the writing style.

1. Trials and Tribulations - As I started this series there was a point where I got bored in the first book. I took a break and read another book but went back to finish the entire series. There is plenty of action, bits and pieces of romance, lots of plot twists and Loki. Ella goes through a lot with friends and being betrayed by a few people. In her search to get her brother Evan back she will learn through the dragon oracle that she must have help especially from someone who betrayed her. Have the Kleenex ready because you will she a few tears for those with unhappy endings and those individuals with happy endings. Deb will have her baby who will become the eye of many who love her and Loki will still be my favorite in all the books!

1. Mediocre Meditations - As an old student of Latin and the classics, I was looking forward to reading The Meditations, but this version is written in th Century prose style with convoluted sentences and arcane diction. Worse, the many misspellings (probably due to some foreign typist that iBooks employed) distracted me from appreciating the beauty of the ideas contained. I will pay more to find a more contemporary and proof-read translation.

1. Felt like pages on the dark side - There's a very socially unacceptable word that I wanted to use to describe what I thought of this series of books. Sure, in novels bad things happen, but in this one there was little good to balance against it. Romance seemed to be a filler between a lot of awful stuff.

1. Fun - This work, composed of three short stories is a nice piece for fans of the Malazan Book of the Fallen. The characters, briefly introduced in the main story arc pertaining to the Panion Domin War, are given a nice fleshing out. I do have one criticism, while the characters had a very sinister image during the Siege of Capustan, their role was never really defined. It still isn't. Even after reading a book titled Bauchelain and Korbal Broach I still know very little about either character. I must assume this is Erickson's intent, but as good as these short stories are, they fall a bit short.
