1. Good but.. - I enjoy the books in this series. This one I wouldn’t consider on edge or suspenseful until the end which was kind of a bummer as I like action packed fast paced. I can’t say too much without spoiling but the ending seemed rushed & fell flat when it came to that certain person. If you read the first then of course I’d recommend to read this one. Hopefully in the next book she finally ties up loose ends. Like who’s the general, about her father, what’s up with the warden, & can they finally get together already? Geez

2. Thriller - I really enjoy the Decker and Rockwell series. This one kept me guessing until the end. A family of is murdered but one child survives. Who killed the family and why? Can the desire for revenge override your survival instinct? Deck and Olivia work together to try and figure out this mystery. Just a touch of romance. Great cast of characters. Well written. I received an Advance Reader Copy in exchange for an honest review and this is my honest review.

1. Second Watch - I have read and loved several J.A. Jance books. This is a very touching story which makes the Vietnam war heroes - yes heroes - real people who serve our country well. Whether we liked the war itself or not, the people who fought were serving their country and we a a people who live here. The touching story of these people brings a wonderful truth to us about the years following that dreadful war.

2. Enlightened - Midway through this awesome book I was sadden because I had the sense that J.A. Jance's writing skills were beginning to fade with age. There is a conversation with Ross Conners that does not take into account a previous (important) one that is crucial to the main plot. I thought she had forgotten about that conversation - which was crucial to the re-opening of the cold case, the crux of the mystery for Second Watch. It was only at the end of the book that I realized that the author was most likely just distracted by one of the sub-plots running throughout the book. The story of the soldier was very personal to her and his history completely factual other than the main character tie-ins. I am sure she was more focused on that storyline than the one that allowed her to classify the book under the Mystery Genre. Overall a very good read and I look forward to future books in this series.

3. Second Watch - Second Watch is a masterful interweaving blend of decisions many of us make in life that rise to the forefront during stressful times. J A Jance is masterful as she brings J P Beaumont through solving past, haunting life experiences to closure while taking fact and fiction to new levels of reality. Great read.

1. Addictive - Her Final Confession (A Josie Quinn Mystery) by Lisa Regan was quite the addictive book (as described). Josie Quinn is a strong lead female character, and I enjoyed the interactions between her and the other characters. Their dialogue and interactions were believable. The book even has the typical higher-up that clashes with Josie and Chitwood fit the bill perfectly for being a difficult adversary. There were parts in the story where I felt I missed some backstory regarding the characters in having not read all of the previous books, but the author did a good job in giving just enough information to understand the plot. The story toward the end was a bit hard to follow, but overall Her Final Confession was a page-turning mystery, and the book was hard to put down and kept my interest throughout. I like Lisa Regan's writing style and the pace of this storyline.

1. Can’t put it down - I have never left a review for any book I’ve read but I read - of Josie Quinn series with a week and half. I love this series please don’t stop writing them. I cannot put them down they just draw you in. Also I have never cried like a baby reading a book before as I did at the ending of this book!! Can’t wait for !

2. Run out and buy this! - Breathe Your Last is the latest Josie Quinn book. I’m really drawn to this series. Josie is a no nonsense police detective. And Lisa Regan writes Josie with balance in her home life, family, friends, and work. I really connect with Josie and her team. And while Josie isn’t perfect, you root for her. From book to book you get to watch Josie grow and evolve. While there is always a little storyline floating from book to book, in this one Josie and her team are investigating why the top swimmer at the local university has drowned. Hitting a dead end with little evidence, other strange things start to happen. This book is both suspenseful and thrilling. I am not easily fooled and I was guessing up to the end. And to take this up a notch, there are chapters told from the killer’s point of view. You get a chill reading their words. You didn’t think I’d slip and spoil it did you? As with this genre you get action, thrills and twists in addition to connecting with Josie and the group of family and friends that surround her. I always look forward to a new installment and I know no matter my reading mood, I know I’ll enjoy the book. I highly recommend this for anyone who likes a good mystery.

3. Loved!!!!! - My Review: Wow, wow, wow this is a series you definitely don’t want to miss out on. This is the tenth book in the series and it was by far the best yet. I can’t tell you how much I love this author and this series. I do want to let you know you can read this book along with the others as a stand alone. I’ve done it and have had no problems following what is going on. This book of course featured the fabulous Detective Josie Quinn solving yet another case. This time is was a swimmer found dead in the pool. But that’s not all. As the case further progresses there are more deaths along the way. Can Josie and her team solve these cases before there are even more murders? Are all these cases linked together and how? Who would commit such a crime? You find out this and so much more by the end of the book. I want to start out by saying that I love Lisa Regans books and hope she writes so many more especially in the Josie Quinn Series. I love the way she writes every character in this series. I truly feel like I know them and I’m there with them trying to solve the crime. I’ve read quite a few books in this series and have gotten to know all of them like they were family to them. I just love that in a book where you get all invested and root for their ups and are sad for their downs. Ok, so who doesn’t love a good who done it murder case. I loved this storyline. Who doesn’t like a good mystery to solve? That ending blew me away. Not only did the author throw me for a loop on who did it but there was also so much nail biting action. I really thought I was going to have no nails left by the end of this book. There was a really special moment at the end that I loved as well. A little romance to satisfy my hunger. I was wondering what was going on with the disappearing act the whole book but it definitely came full circle in the end. Just loved it so much. Between the plot, characters and all the twists in this book it made it an easy and fast read. I would definitely recommend it and happily give it Hearts

1. Burt Bacharach meets Phillip Marlowe in sandals - I wanted to like this book by the acclaimed author, and there were parts of it that still sing as it originally did. The descriptions of Florida towns, bait shops and bars, and a certain world-weariness, mourning the less populous days, before the interstate brought every other Screw-loosened Ohioan to the sunshine state. But I found his descriptions of women, and the sex he is forced to perform with them (purely to heal their emotional wounds, of course!) to be revolting. He doesn’t know when to shut up and talk about the sunset or something. I wanted to take a shower with strong soap after these lugubrious sexual misadventures. As with Raymond Chandler, he needs to periodically remark about lisping fairies to contrast with his own effortless masculinity. This thread of homophobia is dated, but I found it kind of funny in an old fashioned way, and not personally offensive. The difference is: Raymond Chandler seems to actually enjoy women, and MacDonald’s Travis MacGee seems to see them as an ethical obligation. Which is really prudish and insulting. Since the brutalizing, victimization and ultimate redemption of women are the engine that moves the plot, I grew tired of it. Understanding this is after all his first novel of this sort, I’m going to try one or two more to see if his style improves. After hearing how deified his is among Florida crime writers, I don’t quite see what all the fuss is about.

2. Totally absorbing - Love the Travis McGee character, and Child captures many of his traits. The tale is well structured and engaging. Characters are fully fleshed out. Indeed, we may learn more than we care to know about them. The downside of the story is that the dense pack of facts and observations tends to deter from the pacing of the story. An action-packed narrative is occasionally stalled by an avalanche of unnecessary (to my mind) details.

3. Finally JDM in digital!! - Well patience is a virture indeed. Almost fifty years after it began, John D. MacDonald's iconic Travis McGee series finally gets into digital editions. MacDonald is the master of crime fiction, still unexcelled in character, plot, and an uncanny grasp of the cultural zeitgeist of the times in which his novels took place. THE DEEP BLUE GOODBYE sets the pace with an especially callous villain for McGee to bring to heel. Once you begin this series you'll want to motor through them all. And, in my opinion, the prices are a bargain for a writer this mesmerizing.

1. Good, but not her best. - I have been anxiously waiting on this book to come out as I LOVED all the previous ones in this series. This was good, and a quick read, but it wasn’t as gripping or thrilling. It’s hard to understand how all of the kids had issues yet weren’t even all related. What are the chances? The plot fell a bit flat for me. The one big thing that happened broke my heart. If you’ve read the others in the series then I recommend also reading this one. Just don’t hold out that it’s going to blow you away.

1. Diane Capri's Jack and Joe - Get ready for a fast paced, completely riveting storyline in the
continuing Saga of the Hunt for Jack Reacher.
FBI agents Otto and Gasper are still trying to find Reacher.
The author presents how the agents see Reacher with a different
opinion than Child’s Reacher. The agents learn more about the
relationship of Jack and Joe. The author weaves the past and
present together without difficulty.
This is the sixth book in The Hunt for Reacher Series but can
be read as a stand alone.
You will enjoy this book.
Thank you to the author for this eBook. My opinion is my own.

2. Best yet - This is my favorite Diane Capri book so far. I haven't read all of them, but this is the most enjoyable one yet for me. Although part of the Hunt for Jack Reacher series, each book stands on its own. The writing is intelligent and the dialogue, especially between the two FBI agents, is sharp and witty. These books are well edited in a day and age where editing is nearly nonexistent! If you're looking for a great read, try one of Diane's books; you won't be disappointed.

3. Jack and Joe by Diane Capri - Firstly let me say that I am a huge fan of the Jack Reacher novels by Lee Child.
Unfortunately reading this novel Jack and Joe just doesn't make sense to me and takes away from the essence of the Jack Reacher character and I'm not sure why the author would write about him when he is already such a huge character.
So I'm not a fan and will not buy any more novels by this author.

4. The hunt continues - I am a huge fan of Lee Child's Jack Reacher series. I never thought anyone else could do justice to his stories. Capri does an outstanding job. I found myself thoroughly engrossed in the story. Reading this book fills in a lot of the back story from Child's story. This is one of those books that you just don't want to end. I'm looking forward to the next one.

5. Jack and Joe - Readers will stay up all night to learn how FBI Agents Otto and Gaspar unravel the convoluted events in this fast-paced exciting thriller. Their search for Jack Reacher leads them in unexpected and dangerous directions - and exposes some surprises for Reacher fans.
This is a "don't miss" book!

1. Still one of the best writers - it has been well over years since I read a JDM book and today they are as still as good as they were then. This one takes Travis out of his normal haunts in Florida and away from the Busted Flush to New York City. still the same Travis though and a great read. so glad to see his books being made available as ebooks now.

2. Nightmare in Pink - So glad they are rereleasing this great series. I first read these in my early 's and fell in love with Travis and the Busted Flush. Now many decades later I can read the books and enjoy the travels through the great places he hung out. Nightmare in Pink is one I loved with the usual assortment of well drawn characters and spot on descriptions of locales. Don't be full by the dreadful Dean Martin portrayal in the movies. The Sam Elliott version of Travis Magee was perfect. Who wouldn't want to spend a day with he and Mayer, or a week or just settle in for the ride?

1. Re-read after years. Still a favorite. - I read this book years ago after seeing Silence of the Lambs, and really enjoyed it. I’ve since seen the movie with Ed Norton and Harvey Keitel, and thought it was very true to the book. Decided to go back and read this book again while on vacation and found it hard to put it down at times. Re-reading the book gave me a new appreciation for the movie rendition, as the actors really came to mind while reading and I found myself remembering much of the dialog being the same.
Still one of my favorite books, and my favorite of Thomas Harris’ books.

2. -- meh - Amazing book, but I think it could’ve done better. I still give it four stars, because it was very captivating and satisfying, which I very hard to find in most books. Also, to the jerk who gave a one star and said the book gave him aids, hate to break it to you, buddy, but that’s not possible. So, maybe after you consult with some mental helpers, you can change you review to one that makes sense, and doesn’t consist of DELUSIONS. -- meh

3. You wont be able to put it down! - This was one of the greatest books I've ever read. It's been awhile since I have opened a book that I physically could not put down. Harris does a great job of creating these characters and I love the characters of Hannibal Lector and Frances Dolarhyde almost as much as I do Will Graham. Cant wait to read the next one!

4. The Best of all of the Lector books - Thomas Harris's first book involving Hannibal Lector, Red Dragon, is the best! The writing in this book grabs you at page and doesn't let go. I read this book about months before the movie "Manhunter" came out, and when I saw that it was based on this book I was so excited. If you haven't read this book & are a fan of Thomas Harris and/or the films that are based on his Lector character, I highly recommend you read this book, it will not disappoint!!

1. Awesome end - I have finally finished the series and all I can say is “what I ride” Sloane is a strong woman who knows who she is even though she lost herself kinda but who doesn’t question themselves and their life at one point. That’s not a bad thing it helps to make changes sometimes good and sometimes it just validates our direction. Now Cade I can imagine a very sexy man with that cowboy hat I can see it in my mind his look. At least he never gave up on Sloane. Thought the series was well done and developed all the way to the end!!

2. Smoke and Mirrors - A call from James in Australia, his sister Caroline has been murdered. Who to trust that is why he wanted her to come. Upon arriving it is the half truth, questions not answered, couln’t questioned Gracie, the child. Was it one person or two, who killed the boyfriend, or was that suicide. The plot goes one way, she is getting frustrated, when she finds an envelope in Caroline drawer that shifts it another way. Caroline wanted to make a name for herself, a fellow psychiatrist said, and was Into hypnosis regression , with deeply disturbed people. Sloane is determined, sets herself up as bait, would that do it to catch a killer. The plot is tense, James and Sloane good main characters. Another story that readers will want to read.

1. Diane Capri’s Jack the Reaper - Well written story with well developed characters involved in a fast moving, riveting storyline.
FBI Special Agents Kim Otto and Carlos Gaspar
are not the only ones searching for Jack Reacher.
The agents find themselves involved with a unsavory general looking for something valuable. He will kill to retrieve it. Murder, disorder, trouble seen to follow the agents from Detroit to New York City then onto upper New York State followed by West Palm Beach.
The author weaves the past and present together without difficulty. You will feel as if you are part of the story.
Diane Capri’s Reacher is seen by the agents with a different opinion than Lee Child’s Reacher. This
makes the continuing Saga of the Hunt for Jack
Reacher a intriguing and interesting series to read.
This is book in The Hunt for Reacher Series but can be read as a stand alone.
I volunteered to read Jack the Reaper. Thanks to the author for the opportunity. My opinion is my own.

2. The Best One Yet - I didn't think it was possible for this series to get any better, but I sure was wrong. Wow. Reacher is everywhere and nowhere as FBI agents Kim Otto and Carlos Gaspar track an enigma wrapped in the veil of a ghost. What is Reacher up to...if he really is alive. Or did he die in the explosion at the end of the previous book? Was it him who watched Agent Otto as she slept, or just the ghost of Reacher as he continues to haunt her thoughts, haunt even her dreams after...well, just after. I'll leave it at that. Dead or alive, somehow he's involved with a whole bunch of missing money that sends this book on a thrilling road filled with twists and deadly curves, including the curves of Lauren Pauling. Finally, we get a clue as to the woman that may have hold Reacher's heart. She might even know where he is and what his game is. Or she could be as elusive as Reacher. As deadly. The plotting is excellent in this novel, the storytelling nearly flawless, but what hooked me, as it has in previous episodes, is the oh-so human evolution of Otto into her own skin, her own power, and her place as a lead agent in the FBI. She's got her own story that is almost as enigmatic as Reacher's (she makes no effort to stop her fall), that in many ways mirrors Reacher's story. She has her fears and her scars, but she's obsessed with Reacher and acts fearlessly on instinct, driven by her determined to find and understand a man equally determined to remain hidden, and bring him to justice. But what exactly are his crimes? A thoroughly enjoyable read, a satisfying thriller, and a complex web of characters and their fragile ties. Above all, this is excellent storytelling that touches the heart.

1. Iron River - This is the rd book (out of ) in the Charley Hood series, and so far they are getting progressively worse. Plots are repetitive in each book, Hood comes across as a doofus who is continually out-smarted by the son of his lover from book in the series, and this book is plagued by a weird little character with seemingly supernatural powers and no explained purpose. Don’t waste your time on this one (and probably not the first two, either). T. Jefferson Parker is better than this.

Then you read a book called "Savages," and it's so good you go see the movie (which you normally never do, because the movies are rarely as good--just think "The Lincoln Lawyer"). which you see twice & read the book again. So you look up the author's older books & just can't put down "The Winter of Frankie Machine". All crime buffs should put down their Grishams & Demille's and read one of Don Winslow's. 1. Carnival Murder Mystery - This is great for someone wanting a little spooky without actual horror. It's a murder mystery and sort of a coming of age tale. I got into it. It has that eerie feeling like something is coming throughout and is pretty good storytelling in my opinion, kind of feels like a longer version of camp side ghost story.
2016-10-06
2. Not King’s Best - This book is definitely not one of KIng’s best. The first half, or hundred pages or so, is pretty uneventful and not an interesting read unless one has a keen interest in the carnival life, or carny folk. The second half is more engaging, where the story gets more interesting and the reader meets some colorful characters, even if some of these characters i.e. Mike the wheelchair kid, seem borrowed from some B s horror movie. The ending when the mystery is solved didn’t really satisfy me either and again seemed borrowed from an earlier era. All in All I’d advise another reader to sit this one out.
2015-12-26
3. Not a 'Mystery' or much of a 'Thriller' - I'm not saying I didn't enjoy this book, but what it's mostly about is a kid working at an amusement park and his inner thoughts that summer and fall. The story is % "Devin got up, took a shower, etc." There is no mystery to solve or even speculate on. The 'suspenseful' part takes up maybe pages, if that. And using the word 'suspenseful' to describe this story's climax is about the same as calling Winnie the Pooh, 'a terrifying, gripping story of love and betrayal...' This is not a bad book, but it's not at all what it packaged as or advertised to be.

4. Spooky & Bittersweet - Mr King comes through again with a mildly spooky tale of a cold case solved and justice (such as it is ) served. One thing I have always enjoyed about Mr King’s work is his ability to “put you there” without overusing and over-describing the scence. In this book, he really shines and is able to evoke the appropriate feeling while remaining concise and on the point. Mega Kudos and I highly recommend this book.

1. Disjointed - One of the most schizophrenic books I’v ever read. Usually, I love these writer collaborations. But this one was repetitive, as if each writer wrote the whole book themselves, and someone drew lots on which chapters to take out of each separate book and then put them all together. Like a fake sampler quilt. It LOOKS like a sampler quilt, but really it’s made of blocks that came from other whole quilts.
2019-10-02
2. Dead End - This book was written by multiple authors, I think . Each did a chapter, in which I like this idea. And they did a pretty good job. The characters’ personalities were kept the same throughout. It was done for a charity and to raise awareness of domestic abuse. I hope I’m getting this correct. While each chapter had me wanting to know what happens next, it was almost sort of repetitive going along. But at the end of each chapter, there would be something that made you want to read the next so bad. I liked how each author added their own little jewel to it. Perry is a P. I. who was once a police officer. As a cop, he had tried to do a drug bust on some well known people in the community, one being a well respected pastor. His higher ups on the police force were all looking the other way, some even taking cuts to cover it up. Perry refused to do this so he got let go. It was made to look like he bungled up the case because the wrong person got arrested and was choosing to take the fall for the bd guy. This was something that never got resolved. That was just life. I read to get away from the real world so I was hoping this would all be brought to light and Perry’s honor restored. Perry is hired by a well to do lady to find her missing daughter who happens to be years old and hasn’t seen her mother in a year I think. The dad who is no longer married to the mother, says she has been missing for two weeks. The story is about Perry’s search for Angel and where it leads him. He is untrustful of the mother and the father, along with some other characters the girl spends time with. I didn’t like the parents. No wonder the girl isn’t around. And everybody has secrets of their own. It was a kind of dark and mournful kind of read. My heart aches for Perry with his loss of being a policeman and how honest he had been. He had also lost his wife who got custody of the daughter. His family for generations had been cops. His dad and his dad’s dad and so on. He lived and breathed it. I really didn’t care for his ex wife, what little I knew about her. No one seems to have any redeeming qualities. But all the while, at the end of each chapter, there is someone following Perry. The narrator is telling that part in the stalker’s voice. It is really intense and suspenseful. This is what really had me reading on and on. I’m still messed up about the ending. It sucked and left me feeling like the pieces didn’t line up and there needed to be either more chapters for closure and to tie up loose ends or another book. If you are in the mood for a solemn read, this would be the one. It’s one of those you love and hate at the same time but, like a bad car wreck, you can’t seem to look away. Oh, that’s another thing, this stalker tries on multiple occasions to kill Perry. In the end, someone winds up dying, but I’ll let you read and find out who that will be. I listened to the audiobook. The narrator was SO GOOD! I LOVED him. Especially the stalker’s voice. It was very creepy and fun.

3. Disappointment - I love Charlaine Harris, which is the only reason I bought this book. However, every chapter is written by a different author, so the flow of the book feels wrong. If you can get over that, then your stuck with a "hero" who personally I didn't find very likable but that could be because he seemed different in each chapter. Then your stuck with a damsel in distress who couldn't be more cliche. It's so bad I'm having a hard time even finishing it...still love Charlaine though. It just proves that authors have their own voice, so when you have authors telling a story from one persons point of view it just doesn't work...sorry guys.

1. Good enough if you have nothing else to read - The story of the whole series is convoluted, stupid and makes no sense at all. The only character worth calling that is Gaspar, the “number two” of the FBI team. I can only hope that actual FBI Special Agents aren’t such stupid, incoherent morons as the “lead” agent, the character of Kim Otto - probably best described as a nervous train wreck filled with conspiracy theories. If I had to work with such a personality I’d be hard pressed to not shoot myself out of frustration of working with such a non-sensical person. Sorry, but the whole series is bad. If you have no other way of getting over a long transatlantic flight or so - sure, go ahead. But only if you can tolerate morons. If not, you’ll get your skin crawling just by reading the idiotic dialogs and presumptions coming up on nearly every page.

2. Get Back Jack - This author writes to those who already know Reacher. Her character development was fair, the historical background, landscape was poor. Her mechanical and technical development needed a lot more work. I will give the benefit of doubt and read more of her Reacher works- if its not better, I'll find another author.

1. One the of the Greats - This is what the best of RBP looks like: humor, uniqueness, blurred lines, and friendship. Ceremony is sentimental, messy, bloody, and fun from start to finish. Of the earlier books, it is where we truly see characters fully develop and relationships become part of mystery literary folklore. The end is one that asks you to really look at a situation not for what you want it to be but for what it is. It is one I continue to read again and again.

1. The Broken Soul - Another in the Sloane mystery series. A fun light mystery. Easy to read and follow but engaging enough to keep one invested. I especially the love the friendship between Sloane & Maddie. women wrote the book together and strong women characters working together to solve the mystery! Great story.
