1. Just What I Was Looking For!!! - This is a fantastic book if your looking for great nursery rhymes to read to your kids. I got it for that reason and its nice to have such a nice variety of nursery rhymes. All of the popular nursery rhymes that I heard when I was growing up are in this book. It's nice to share those with the kids. The pictures are fun too. This is a great book!

1. This is what an animated ebook should look like! - I've purchased a number of e-picture books. Usually, you just swipe pages, which is cool, but a child with a device tends to expect a bit more these days, right? But on the other hand, many ebooks for kids are so overloaded with animations, squeeks, burps, and surprises that the story is lost to the reader. He or she gets caught up in the overblown interactive stuff. Mother Nature Rhymes is the perfect combination of book and animation, in my opinion anyway. D.B. gives the reader fun and whimsical poems about nature with easy-going and often hilarious animations and gentle sound for each illustration. There is ample time to read the poem first before an animation begins. Once you've read one poem, you will gleefully read the next and then anticipate the animation that follows. It's an ebook that kids will want to revisit over and over, as any good picture book should be. Even Henry makes a couple of appearances for his fans.

2. A new era in picture books - My friend, D.B. Johnson, has brought down the curtain on the static picture book for children. With the recent publication of his Mother Nature Rhymes (iPad only for now), Don has singlehandedly transformed the picture book into a dynamic event. From now on, if it isn't interactive and doesn't have multimedia (animation and audio at least) as an ePub publication, it is just too too old hat. There are picture books aplenty with animation and audio today, but they must run inside dedicated apps which cost thousands of dollars to produce. Don has created an ePUb-formatted eBook that any writer or illustrator can assemble on their own with no greater cost than the software tools they are already using, plus an understanding of HTML and CSS--open-source web programming tools that are easy to learn. Authors can now independently and economically produce finished products and sell them directly to their readers. Mother Nature Rhymes consists of two-page spreads, with an original rhyme on one page and an illustration on the facing page. Gentle sound effects accompany the gentle animations, as birds and butterflies fly between the pages, a robin on a swing is wooed by a red-eyed virago, and other aural and visual treats delight your little ones as you read them to sleep.

3. Mother Nature Rhymes - Great addition to iPad book options to read to (with?) your kids. Still have the important experience of 'reading' aloud, but complemented by DB Johnson's beautiful drawings come to life with delicate moving elements and sounds. We have loved all of the 'Henry' books he's created and this is a nice addition in a new medium. Definitely a worthwhile purchase!

4. As good as his print books - D.B. Johnson has enhanced his already stunning children's illustrations with animation. Mother Nature Rhymes shows off the potential of iBooks--a must-have for anyone looking to test out a new retina display! Beyond the visuals, D.B. Johnson's rhymes are as catchy as anything Mother Goose wrote. I also appreciate that he doesn't lean on pop-culture references like most modern children's cartoons. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Mother Nature Rhymes to anyone with kids (or adults who appreciate whimsy).

5. Mother Nature Rhymes - Reading this book is like entering a quiet room filled with wonders.
Actually, you not only read this book, but experience it through exquisitely animated illustrations.
This is a book to linger over and revisit.
The animation takes a few moments to begin so you have time to start reading the poem it illustrates.
What a pleasure to have an animated piece for children that does not bombard them with images and noise, but allows them time to anticipate, experience and enjoy.
A very special book.
