1. Change my perspective in life - Love this book but at work, I’m very stubborn and easily get angry thinking I’m the best. But really, I’m the lowest at that moment and every one was moving on by getting more certificates to improve their pay grade and their levels. I still get paid the same for the last years. Then I realize I have to move with the cheese by getting more certificates to improve my pay grade and my levels to catch up with other. I was like Haw, late but I’ll get there.

2. This is my life - It took me a while to finish reading this book but it was really long overdue. I understand now change is & can be scary but it’s inevitable & the thing to do is be prepared as possible for it because you really can’t do anything to stop it! I just wish I had better tools to deal with change before it comes as opposed to afterwards. This book is perfect for putting that into perspective thank you

3. So much in such a short story - Does this book need another star review? Probably not but I anticipate it having a major impact on my personal and professional life and wanted to give a little back to the author. Thank you. This is going on the list of books I read every few months. If you are on the fence about this book, just read it, you'll be so glad you did.

4. If you're feeling stuck, anxious, or angry... - ...read this book. You'll read it in one sitting and get enough ideas and perspective to last a lifetime. Instinctively we know change is inevitable but dealing with it is learned behavior, and how we choose to deal with change itself changes over time. This story will put the edge back on your blade and let you slice through the chaos, keeping your health and humor intact.

5. Good for quick read - I am a slow reader and knocked this thing out on my lunch break at work. Therefore, paying $ for something that will take less than an hour to read is a little overkill but moving on to the story itself. It is in three sections, the first section is a group of people at a reunion and one of them says they remember the story about the mice and cheese. Then everyone else, like giddy first graders begs this guy to tell the story. Waste of three pages in an already short book. The story follows two mice and two little dudes in a maze. Hem (a little dude) is a whiny brat and Haw (another little dude) had no self confidence to tell Hem to stuff it until way late in the game. I won’t give away the story. The last section is a huge waste of pages. It is the discussion amongest these friends but it sounds like a PSA. It is forced, unnatural and “scripted.” If that chapter was a TV show, it would be hanked day one for bad acting. Trust me, just read the actual story and skip parts and . The story is an interesting take and it is something we all know. “Flow with change, sense it early and adapt.” But, sometimes it is fun to see it in a different way. Do yourself a favor and BORROW this book. Never pay more than a few bucks for it. The story is good but not THAT good.

6. Entertaining yet Informative - It's not your typical self help book that's for sure. This great story and play on words with the mix of cleverly casted characters really set the stage for a wonderfully crafted peace of literature that "in my honest opinion" should be read by everyone. Without giving the story away I know that their is someone that each and everyone of us can relate to in this book. So what are you waiting for download the book already!

1. Made Me Hold Off On Jumping Into Real Estate - I grew an interest in real estate investing with the idea of having a passive income and began researching with reading this book. I figured it can’t be too difficult to buy a property, hire a property management company to run it and I more or less collect the checks at the end of the month. This book does not sugar coat the process. I have learned just how deep and involved this is that for now I decided to just continue researching and investing in dividend paying stocks while I continue learning more about real estate investing. Since there is so much info I agree with the author that you should read this book more than once. I recommend this book for anyone that is trying to get into this type of investing and wants to see an in depth overview of what your getting yourself into.

2. Must Read Book Before RE Investing - Brandon is an expert in real estate. If you asked Brandon a question that has anything to do with a piece of property, I would bet he probably knows the answer. He’s also a great story teller and history buff. I probably could have used more stories in the book instead of rules but it was an amazing book either way. Also, at the end of the book their is a typo that needs to be fixed. Investor (who didn’t use the exchange rule) actually ended up with $ million dollars! This was kind of funny but someone should fix it. Might have to do with Apple Books I usually find a few errors from each book I read.

1. Very Useful - I highly recommend this book for anyone who seems to act as their own worst enemy. I know I did, and did not realize it until after I listened to this book on tape. After searching I Tunes for similar books, this book really stuck out to me because of the author's credentials. However, I found myself looking forward to learning more from Shirzad, since his content has helped me differentiate between the negative thoughts that would really bog me down from the constructive ways of thinking that have helped me in my personal and professional life. Shirzad's tone of voice is very comforting, and can enliven the "Sage" in any listener. Please listen to this book, and utilize this knowledge in your lives for your own happiness and success.

2. Inspirational yet Pragmatic: A Must Read! - What a gold-mine of a book! An extremely useful text for increasing performance, success and happiness. As the author states: much like Sisyphus--the mythological king who was forced to roll a boulder to the top of a hill every day only to watch it roll back down in the evening--our best efforts to achieve our goals or increase our happiness often unravel. Though we frequently try to attribute our failure to others or uncontrollable circumstances, Shirzad Chamine shows in this book that it's usually due to our own self-sabotage. Over the course of his engaging and incredibly pragmatic text, Chamine hammers home the point that though our minds are sometimes our best friends, they are often our worst enemies. He describes our minds as having both Sage and Saboteur powers, each corresponding to different regions of our brains: the PQ Brain (Sage) and the Survivor Brain (Saboteurs). The more we are able to activate our PQ Brain and our Sage, the higher our Positive Intelligence Quotient (PQ) becomes. Chamine uses numerous research and anecdotal examples to make a compelling argument that people and teams with higher PQ achieve more and are happier across all aspects of their lives. Through both his sound argument and a myriad of my own personal experiences, I believe it! The thing I love most about this book is how serious it is about affecting positive change. It's not some loose framework or a series of things to "think about." It's actually about giving the reader an accessible toolkit to improve the way they experience life, affect their colleagues, and pursue their goals. From tools like Sage Power Games to the Three Gifts Technique, Chamine presents easy-to-do, CEO-tested techniques that actually make a difference. In fact, I've been so pleased with his PQ Reps technique ( second intervals of returning my focus to my breath and five senses) that I've shared it with multiple of my fellow entrepreneurs, friends, and family. Chamine states at the beginning of the book, "I encourage you to have high expectations for this book...[it] can change your life and be a game-changer for your team. Please don't settle for anything less." I haven't settled and, thus far, it's been a terrific ride!

1. Setting the table for hospitality hopefuls - As someone who has graduated In hopes of working In hospitality I think this book should be read by everyone in the field. 2. The Best Book I've Ever Read on Running a Business! - Words cannot truly express how profound Danny's word and vision have been. Danny's philosophy on "enlightened hospitality" is applicable to every area of business, not just restaurants. This book is ultimately a bible on leadership skills. I highly recommend this as a read to anyone who is trying decipher what type of future leader they want to evolve into or anyone looking to delve deeper into understand who they are as a leader. 3. Bravo! - As a veterinarian grateful to my college jobs as a waitress and a coat check girl, I feel capable of serving my clients. I bought Danny Meyer's book to be better at caring for my staff. Furthermore, as a foodie on the receiving end of the table, I have high expectations of every establishment I patronize. Indeed, I wish they all had read and understood "Setting the Table.". Congratulations to Danny Meyer and his more than capable hospitality group on their accomplishments. As of this week and since , I have more than enjoyed two of their restaurants. I anticipate with gratitude in advance all the rest. I congratulate you all on your efforts and assure you that every day a new person sits at your table and enjoys what you do every day.

1. The case is strong, our best future includes expanding use of fossil fuels - We are all told to accept the ‘knowledge’ that climate crisis is upon us. The skeptical among us wonder why only one side of the question is presented and why we are told that dissent is immoral. As with many things promoted by ‘progressivism,’ just like in the novel, “,” doublespeak is º out of phase with the real truth. Epstein exposes the lies and distortions that are force fed to all of us, and uncovers the underlying false premises and anti-human motivations that drive the leaders, the media, and ‘academics’ (and now much of corporate America) to pursue what are otherwise destructive policies. Even those well versed in the science, politics and policy of ‘climate change’ will learn important things from this book.

2. Knowledge System - Besides well sited data, which one could weigh and integrate with the data they already have, Alex offers a new outlook on the way in which scientific knowledge is discovered. From expert researchers, to data synthesizers who make data sets and reports, to media that disseminates these data sets and reports to individuals, and how these individuals evaluate this information and how it influences the choices they make. This step understanding of the flow of information Alex names a “knowledge system” is very eye opening as I have seen these parts looking out into the world on the news, taking to coworkers, and being on social media. Alex advocates for a pro-human, deliberate and full context approach to our relationship with the earth we live on, and shows where he is coming from in a Human Flourishing knowledge system. This Human Flourishing perspective is contrasted by what Alex describes as a anti-human impact on nature based knowledge system in this book. Listening to this as an Audiobook (read by Alex himself), I find it to be a tad repetitive. I believe this is because he is communicating very precisely as to prevent anyone from twisting his message and minimize toxic paraphrasing. It’s probably less of an issue when reading it since you will commit some of the commonly used phrases to quick reading. Lastly, I want to advocate for this book because of its well sited data. Even if you fundamentally disagree with Alex, and claim he is cherry-picking, it stands to reason the data he picks is just as much Data as the data he left out, and all data must be integrated and settled without contradictions in order to make correct choices with the fullest context possible. Take it in, weigh the data with what you know, and then leave a review! I hope you learn something, I know I did!

1. Mildly disappointing - I had expected a more captivating book. The focus on prior at goes back so far as to file is impact. For instance I was left without a clear understanding of how multichannel works. Perhaps the continuing development of iOS and the iPhone have somehow left the book behind. I didn't get the feeling the author was truly enthusiastic about the iPhone. It seems more like a kiss and tell.
2018-12-11
2. In-depth Insight - By telling the story of iPhone's creation with a holistic God's Eye view, we are provided far more detail on how The One Device came to fruition. At times the history felt like lessons on how our obsessions with tech are ravaging the world's resources and poorer peoples. Also being the nerd I am, I was disappointed that there wasn't more insight to the actual final assembly - how the form-factors were arranged, or the final design achieved...I wanted to be there at the moment the ID team tightened the last screw and pressed the power button. That must have felt like seeing the first plane flying, car driving, photo developing, or watching the Trinity test. Thank you for your incredibly diligent research and devotion to the whole picture. Your gift to see the interconnected elements made this a fascinating read.
2017-09-09
3. Incredibly detailed, a great read - I was expecting to read about the creation of the iPhone, and of the people that made it happen. And it describes that very well (at least, as well as one could expect from a book about a product created by a company as secretive as Apple). In particular, the information about the people involved in creating the iPhone was very interesting to me. What I wasn’t expecting was Merchant’s explanations of the history behind all the technologies that went INTO creating it. No, Apple didn’t invent the Smartphone, or multi-touch, or Wi-Fi, or cell phone radio technology, or accelerometers, or CCD camera imagers, or lithium-ion batteries, or Gorilla Glass, or GPS. But Merchant provides the history of, or at the very least, great insight into, ALL of these technologies and so many more, and then explains in an entertaining way how Apple brought all these things together to create the iPhone. Merchant also delves into the somewhat questionable efforts that go into manufacturing the iPhone (and other Smartphones). He even explores many of the social and environmental issues surrounding the iPhone, and Smartphones in general, which surprised me as well. This book really covers all the bases! There is a LOT of information here and I found it all a fascinating read. Perhaps someone who isn’t a big fan of technology might find it overkill, but honestly, that kind of person probably wouldn’t be interested in a book like this anyway. Speaking for myself, as a lifelong electronics and technology fan, I loved every page of it.

4. Smell the agenda, write contrived text - I appreciate non-fiction writing, but this book by Brian Merchant reeks of an agenda. You can tell by the language used that he’s framing history to fit his view point and I fear the book suffers from it. When he talks about the historical visit of the Mac development team to Xerox PARC, he suggests they “borrowed” the interface technology. The word choice suggests or implies a theft of some sort. The visit to PARC was part of a stock deal where Xerox would be offered a deal on shares of Apple. And then you could look at Douglas Engelbart’s presentation (The Mother of All Demos) as historical precedent that Xerox did not imagine everything themselves. But you know, glib overstatement to make it seem less boring, more contrived, sure, whatever.

5. Tedious - The author, obviously no fan of Steve Jobs, bores us silly with more minutiae than one should bear. From his perspective Jobs deserves no credit and was only a huckster. The author must have never owned a Nokia E or a Blackberry or Palm. Most shocking of all the author gave no credit to that unknown soul who first tamed fire or the person who invented the first wheel. None of us would even exist without them. Shame for overlooking their contribution! This is mostly an Apple slam job that should be read only be those so obsessed by all of those bad at Apple that they must read more. Unfortunately I bought it on iTunes so cannot get my money back, good news for the author, bad for me…...
2017-07-12
6. Interesting subject, great style - A real page turner, especially if you're into technical stuff. A fascinating glimpse into how the iPhone comprises innovation spanning many individuals and decades. In addition, the style of writing is excellent- engaging and dramatic. (I don't approve of the sailor-mouthed Silicon Valley crowd, but that's not the authour's fault.) In a word, highly recommended.

1. If you want to learn accounting, read this book first. - Having never taken a single class on accounting ever, and left to figure out how to balance a checkbook on my own, I found I was flat-out terrified of the subject. And because of that fear, I never learned how to read numbers on a financial statement. So I let years go by pretending all those columns of numbers with the esoteric names next to them meant something whenever I was handed a financial report at work. The thought of actually learning accounting to me felt heavy, oppressive, and cumbersome. But then one day I decided to start an eBay business, and that made me determined to push through my fear so I could use and understand Quickbooks effectively to be able to use that accounting program properly—especially when it came time to account for my income and expenses during tax time. At that point it slowly dawned on me that accounting was probably THE most important key to the new skills I needed, and the one critical tool I was still missing. I started reading every book I could get my hands on with the word “Accounting” in the title. Then after reading five books on the subject, and still unsatisfied with what I had learned, I stumbled across the Color Accounting system in a book written for beginners like me called COLOR ACCOUNTING: THE NEW GRAPHICAL SYSTEM THAT MAKES UNDERSTANDING ACCOUNTING EASY AND QUICK. I read it cover-to-cover, and couldn’t be happier with what I learned. In fact, I should have started with this book in the first place, and would recommend anyone wanting to learn accounting themselves to do the same. Unlike the other books, this one showed me how to sit down with a list of financial transactions and a messy stack of receipts, and plot them out accurately onto a Balance Sheet and Income Statement to see where my business stood financially. The COLOR ACCOUNTING book teaches you through clear and simple examples. It easily and efficiently progresses you from learning about the overall structure and language of the basic framework for accounting to the fourteen “classic” transactions you are most likely to come across and use. It was the one resource that got me to understand the big picture of accounting and business, and helped me begin mastering my understanding of where the numbers all belonged. For the first time I was no longer afraid of accounting. In fact I was excited about it, and could see its full potential. Looking forward, I knew I would be able to now harness and use this discipline I didn’t think I would ever get a solid grasp on. And honestly, at the end of the day, I couldn’t possibly be more excited about COLOR ACCOUNTING.

2. Great Accounting Book - This book is wonderful! I'd encourage anyone who is taking an accounting course to read this. It sets up accounting in a completely different way than school does. It's still the same concepts but they use a visual diagram so you can literally "see" how accounting works and the various levels of balancing.
2014-09-06
3. ColorAccounting, New Graphical - The authors have taken this necessary but - for many of us - challenging, boring and complex subject and made it come alive. I found this a great way to understand and grasp accounting concepts, and apply them. The book gave me the knowledge to debate and communicate with the confidence about financial matters, knowing that I was well informed.
Thank you Color Accounting.

4. Very, very helpful - My professor prescribed this book and it has really helped me understand the topics that he’s covering in a more traditional way in my college course. The Color Accounting system is a clever way of presenting accounting concepts so you can see what’s going on with diagrams. It’s mostly built around a diagram called the BaSIS Framework, which stands for BAlance Sheet/Income Statement Framework. I recommend it to other students.

2. It’s ok. - Not a terrible read. A little expensive for what you get. There are some good tips, and a lot of references to other services to help you. But it felt more like an extended advertisement for third party Airbnb services and his website than a book that provided a lot of groundbreaking insight.

1. A life changing experience. - I have read hundreds of business and motivational books, but Delivering Happiness is truly my very favorite. I learned so much from this book that I am going to apply to my business. I am planning a trip to Vegas to tour Zappos and learn more about them. Hopefully, I will have the opportunity to meet the founding fathers in person. That would be a dream come true for me! Basel Tarabein, Broker Owner

2. Life changing on a personal, career, or leader/owner level - I started reading the free sample and just got hooked! Finished reading in a few days - if you learn one thing only, it's what is your real goal and value in life? And what next after you get 'there'? Tony makes you think about many things whether it's your life, job, or relationship(s) around you? Thought provoking - life changing!

3. Good - This was a fast and enjoyable read - I really enjoyed his personal stories of entrepreneurship. Really quick: what annoyed me was all of the overused, meaningless expressions such as "Merriam-Webster defines fractal as..." and a lot of paragraph transitions that made this book read like a th grade English essay... That being said...I think the message was great and I'm glad that Tony wrote this and put it out there for the world to read.

4. BIG Thumbs Up! - Every now and then, we find books that when we pick up to read, we don't want to put down. This book is definitely one of those. You'll learn valuable lessons of sacrifice, honesty, friendship, purpose, and happiness. When you have all the chips and ask yourself "Now what?" This book paints a picture of an answer. Thank you Tony Hsieh and Zappos Team.

5. Good Ideas! - Would certainly recommend this book to anyone in the customer service industry! Tony seems like an interesting, fun guy and I really appreciate that the book wasn't ghost-written. Will definitely be applying his straightforward advice about building a brand through great service and focusing on internal company culture. Tony, shine on you crazy diamond!

6. Values and Culture - Tony inspires us by building an organization through clear values and a distinctive culture. Through this, he keeps to the promise of the book's title, Delivering Happiness! Who doesnt want to work in a organization which creates a strong emotional connection with its employees and customers? But how many of us actually do??? Hats off to Tony and Zappos.

7. Must read for anyone in business - After I finished this book, I had to ask myself why all companies don't operate this way,,,a simple concept (make customers and employees happy, the rest falls into place). This book proves that the old management style of forcing customer service and hammering employees is an out-dated, ancient concept that has seen it's time pass. This book has changed how I will search for a new career and what I look for in an employer...even if that employer ends up being me!

8. Read it, digest it, drive it - I have been in the retail automotive business for years, thru great times and some recent trying times. I read a lot and strive to have excellent customer care and culture, pressure and stress can take me off my game with culture. Why can't people just do what they say they are going to do? Business would be so easy. This book is an excellent book for provoking thoughts. I feel that my passion in life is to help other people grow, to connect them and to expose my family and myself to the fun things and great people in this world. Being a hotspot for happiness sounds like where I want to be; no one cares how much you know until they no how much you care.......I preach that and believe that, but this book has made me think about making sure I live it.
2011-03-24
9. Great Book for anyone! - Thank you Tony for sharing your happiness with the world. It has been a great initiative to teach the rest of us to become happier. This book really makes you think about the importance of life and the pursue of what really matters. I will become part of your cult and try to find happiness and then deliver happiness to the world!
2010-12-04
10. Delivering Happiness - I appreciate Tony's thirst for knowledge and life! Since I'm an entertainer, I was a little lost by all the business talk. But, if I ever have my own company, I'll revisit the book. I host a nationally syndicated radio show that pokes fun at people and uses colorful language to appeal to it's audience. I feel myself breaking away from that to embark on a new, exciting path similar to the path Tony has chosen. For now it's less pay, but so much fun and I'm so happy. 11. Great, Easy, Purposeful Read - One of the better entrepreneur authored books I've read in a long time. The narrative is smart and insightful, but also incredibly REAL. Tony has done a magnificent job of understanding his customers and the people that engender their loyalty on a daily basis. Thanks for sharing, man!

13. Add this to your library - This is a thought provoking account of Zappos rocky rise to the top. It's filled with honest and inspirational stories of hardship, triumph, mistakes, successes and lessons learned by the leadership behind Zappos. For all of my admiration of Zappos as a customer, this book deepened my respect for the company. As a small business leader, rooted in Human Resources and focused on how to instill a great company culture, Tony's account generated tons of new ideas. This is going onto the Must Read list for future leaders in my company. I hope other people find the inspiration and energy in it that I did!

14. Someone in love with himself - Surprisingly i had some money on my pay pal account, so i decided to try out, buying and reading a book with my iPad. I didn't really care about the perfect book, just wanted to try. Well, after the first pages, I have to say, I don't see this " delivering happiness" . It's just a guy, I admit he accomplished a lot, who is in love with himself. So go ahead, clean yourself, I got better things to do.

1. REQUIRED READING FOR MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS - The book should be required for medical students and all medical professionals! I think this book, PHARMA, is perhaps one of the most important works I have ever read. It thrusts an unvarnished truth about the pharmaceutical industry that is often hidden from view of the public and medical professionals for the simple reason that what is in this book is not taught in medical schools and rarely featured on the news programs. I think it was important to start the story many years ago, because at the end of the book it really did become clear in my mind that the pharmaceutical industry began as heroin dealers and one could argue little has changed. The historical line might have zigged and zagged, but with the aid of the book its apparent what the motives have always been. I have been following the pharmaceutical industry for many years. Specially with a focus on the information described in great detail in this book such as the circumstances surrounding the topics of opioids, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, amphetamines, vaccines, and drugs such as Vioxx. I consider this book to be the absolute magnum opus on the topic of the pharmaceutical industry. Overall, I can’t thank the author enough for writing this book. This is a treasure for humanity and I suspect will be regarded as such as time goes on. I am confident in my assessment of the importance of this book especially when considering that we are a society heavily intertwined and connected to the pharmaceutical industry. I have been raving about PHARMA to my friends every time I had a epiphany moment while reading, which was pretty much every few pages. I will remember the lesions I have learned in it for the rest of my life. The book should be required for medical students or any medical professional!
Probably would make an amazing movie or news special one day. I am giving this book my most highest recommendation for anyone who has ever taken or prescribed a medication. In other words, this book is required reading!
