1. Home Again played as Beautiful - I just bought this album today after watching Beautiful the musical. Every song is just beautiful even they are not that popular. Unfortunately, one of the songs Home Again was damaged and it played Beautiful instead.
It played the correct song as a test but not when played on the album.
Please let me download the correct song extra charge!!

2. All formats - I purchased a vinyl copy in grade school, (I would listen to it after dinner on the family turntable) an -track version in middle school, (parents got a new car with a great sound system) cassette in college (for playing on my boom box while painting houses with friends) and finally a digital copy. (I have it ready for my daily walk) She is a talented musician and a fabulous songwriter. The lively tunes traveled with me throughout my life. Enjoy these songs and get your journey started!

3. The Greatest Pop Album of all Time - A bold statement? Yes. A true statement? Absolutely. No other Pop album has the simplicity of this album. Any person my age - - has the memory of their parents track tape of Tapestry on road trips. Still remember every word, play near all of 'em on the piano..............if only I could play and sing like CK.............This album is a window to my childhood memories.......FINALLY I have downloaded from iTunes. If you are reading this & someone has suggested you download Tapestry, don't take my word for it, take the advice of your friend or relative who has steered you to this glorious and timeless album.

4. Will have this forever. Young people check it out! - I have this on vinyl and CD. Even as a year-old Black kid, I knew good music. I was so fortunate to grow up during this time period, because music like this and Joan Baez and Janis Joplin to go along with Motown and the Beatles, & Jimi Hendrix is timeless and priceless.

5. my th grade album of the class room - Yes it takes me back to th grade at Coe school. roller skating in the new gym. and playing that again in our room. to this day it takes me back to the school year and at the end where they had a birthday party for my teacher ... across the ally from my home. that introduces me too Elton John had just come on the radio at KJR .. it was the station to listion to back then its before FM. this was also a album i would get stoned too . back in the day.. thank Carole for all she has given us. this is priceless.

6. Gets Better with Age - My mother got it in the s, so Carole King’s songs have always been a part of my life, but it wasn’t until I reached adulthood that I truly appreciated them. She truly poured her heart and soul into these songs. Ironically, Carole King was part of the s singer songwriter, but today she feels more like neo-soul to me, which makes sense since some of her best songs were covered by Aretha Franklin and the Shirelles. The truth is that these songs are timeless and meant for everyone.

7. A brilliant Masterpiece - This album actually helped define a new decade. Carole influenced more artists then anyone else at that time. A shear genius. Every song moves your soul . Thank God she realized that she should perform her own masterpieces. Go get this album, put on headphones and shut the lights.. And shut off your iPhone.

8. Amazing album!!! - I own this album on vinyl and would have to say this is one of the best albums to come out of the 's with hits like "You Got A Friend", "So Far Away", "Where You Lead", "I Feel The Earth Move", and "You Make Me Feel (like a natural woman)" I grew up listening to 's music but still can appreciate this classic album. Carole King still to this day performs as well as she did in her prime if not better now! Do yourself s favor and get this album if you like even song! You won't be disappointed!

1. This Version of the Album is a Hefty Bunch of Steaming - We can have scores of Rap Albums with explicit lyrics (big deal)…but YOU have to sanitize JT’s Greatest Hits and replace the live version of Steamroller Blues with the studio version. Really??? At age , I think I’m old enough to make my own choices and don’t need you to protect my aging ears.
2022-10-23
2. A PG rated Steamroller - I finally upgraded my scratchy vinyl version of this album and it sounds gorgeous. JT sounds so crisp and clear, but I do wish there was a warning label indicating the PG version of Steamroller is the version on this album. I can handle the F bomb and I can't seem to be able to puchase the original Greatest Hits version of this song without buying another Greatest Hits album containing most of the songs I just bought. Weak tea Apple.
2022-02-18
3. Ok - I listened to this album based of the golden oldie appeal of tunes, but now I'd say that JT's greatest hits are not very great. His vocal quality is pleasant enough but other similar artists such as Art Garfunkel, Jim Croce, Carole King and Don McLean have better, more distinctly evocative (non-Best-of) albums. As I don't collect singles, I deleted this album.

4. Live "Steamroller" Replaced By Studio Original - The vinyl LP fans have noticed it already, and the above review claims that "Steamroller" here is LIVE but this CD replaces it with the original studio version from the "Sweet Baby James" album. Too bad because this was the only album with that explicit rockin' bluesy live version. Docked One Star!

5. The only secular album my mother owned - I grew up listening to this tape in my mom's two-tone brown Ford Aerostar van. To my knowledge it was the only secular album she owned, and she'd always fast forward at the end when Steamroller came on to start the tape over again at the beginning (apparently Jesus didn't approve of that track). I bought her the CD for Xmas over a decade ago, the tape having long been lost. Now I finally own my own digital version and I cannot wait to sing along.

6. Amazing Music! - This is not only a great album by James Taylor but also an incredible sample of all that he has to offer. I'm young but that doesn't lessen my appreciation for great music from artists like JT. I got this album liking only "Fire and Rain" at first but soon grew to truly admire and love each song for different reasons. What an amazing album this is!
2015-06-29
7. Hands down one of the best Singer/Songwritters EVER! - There are very few artists that can bridge generations the way James Taylor does. His music is always refreshing to hear...and if you don't at least have this album...you are seriously missing out. My children will listen to James Taylor, their children will listen to James Taylor...his music is timeless!

8. Something in the Way - My husband of years used to sing this song to me when we were dating in the late s. It still takes my breath away. Music has the ability to take us to an exact moment in time. Powerful.
James Taylor is the real deal - Living Legend. My -year-old daughter even gets it! JT is in her iTunes too! Smart girl. TRousselWoods

9. Amazing - I have always loved James Taylor. My dad always plays and sometimes hums or sings them.my favorite is something in the way she moves and you've got a friend. Something in the way she moves makes me remember all of my grandparents which were all dead at my age right now yrs .there favorite was something in the way she moves. I think I'm the onlyyr old boy that has no grandparents anymore. Thank you James taylor you make me feel better and happy.

10. Love - These songs bring me back to my childhood. Every year when my family would go on vacation my dad would always play James Taylor. I was surprised to re-listen to all these songs and find i still know all the lyrics by heart! Im probably the only yr old girl with James Taylor on her phone! These songs make me so happy! :)

11. Wonderful - Taylor’s album, The Greatest Hits of James Taylor is an amazing album, full of superb country music, heartfelt songs, and old James Taylor classics. It is an exceptional example of music that many people greatly enjoy. Some of my favorite songs on the album include “Carolina on My Mind,” a wonderful song about the wonders of North Carolina, and wishing he was there. Another song that I like is “Something in the Way She Moves,” it has a nice country vibe and a pleasing sound. Overall the entire album is wonderful, especially for country and folk fans. I like the soothing songs, James Taylor’s slow crooning, and upbeat country music in this collection. So listen to it and who knows you may become a James Taylor fan.

1. Best country music out right now - Colter Wall brings back the lost sound of country music; there’s no pop county here. The vocals remind me of Johnny Cash. The music has an old country feel with hints of folk, Appalachia, and blues. This album stays on repeat and Colter Wall’s music is always on in our house.

1. Exceeded my expectations! - As a life long Bee Gees fans (I have a lot of older brother and sister fans) it never gets old listening to these iconic songs. Hearing them now with new artist accompaniment while keeping close to the true sound and feel of the originals was such a great experience! Bravo Barry and friends!

2. Awesome - Hats off to Barry. I have been listening to the Gibb brothers sense I was a kid, and fell in love right off the bat. It was great to know that Barry has not lost that wonderful voice of his, and decided to work his magic again. What a great album, thumbs up to the producers, the artists that sang along with Barry, and Barry himself. Thank you for the music.

3. Timeless - Usually really-do’s are awful, but Barry Gibb is just super fluid and flexible without losing his core voice. This channels ’s and a true country vibe in a masterful mix that feels fresh but true. And how is Rest Your Love On Me five million times better than it ever was?!? For me, the female vocals largely have a “Duffy” style flavor, which I find an excellent fit. Honestly, I so rarely find new releases I like. On this, I’m still struggling to see if there is a clear fav, and this is one of those “once maybe every five years i hear something that grabs my attention and makes me instantly drop what I’m doing to investigate “. Just shows the complexity of the Gibbs. I also love how their music largely gives so much room for an arrangement or a voice to be truly individual and expressive, written in such a way as to never box in the vocals. And he could be hanging out, retired....... but he’s in it. SO glad! Reeeaalllyy enjoying this, thanks!

4. Half works and half doesn’t - I just don’t understand why Barry shortened his duet w/ONJ by secs fr her original w/Andy. On my initial listen to the song I knew something was off. Then realized it was shorter but didn’t know what was left out. Then I compared the versions and realized it was ONJ’s verse @: on the original that starts How Long Must I Wait... that’s where you really feel her pain and emotion. By leaving it off it almost ruins the song and leaves me unsatisfied and makes me go back to the original. Faves are Words w/Dolly, begrudgingly Rest Your Love On Me w/ONJ, Gotta Get a Message to You w/KU. surprises are To Love Somebody and Words Of A Fool. I didn’t know who Jay Buchanan or Jason Isbell we’re but found their voices added so much emotion and richness to the songs.

5. Love The Bee Gees Sound - I grew up with these guys and it’s great to hear it again in a new way. Love the whole album but my favorites include Keith Urban, Alison Krauss, and my very favorite is Lonely Days with Little Big Town. This is a lot of fun at a time when fun is hard to find! Great job and thanks!

6. A beautiful & soothing album - I can't seem to stop listening to this beautiful & soothing album of new duets of classic songs, especially since has started out just as stressful as . It's very hard to pick a favorite track, but the duet with Alison Krauss is especially lovely. Anyway, thank you, Sir Barry! Can't wait for Volume ...perhaps with YOLA and John Paul White as new collaborators!

7. Gibb catalog beautifully reimagined. - I’m normally not a fan of artists re-recording their hits or duet albums in general, but this album works very well. First, the arrangements are not trying to re-create the original recordings, so it sounds fresh and like new music. Second, Barry gives each artist room to shine and the blend is seamless. Excellent album!

8. Not sure of this one listen to the originals - Barry Gibb and all of his brothers dominated the charts for most of the ’s and ’s, with their soft rock, pop, and disco hits. They were and are one of the groups and solo artists that will live on for generations. Barry wrote and sang with Barbra Streisand on one of her best albums Guilty. He also wrote for Dionne Warwick, Celine Dion and numerous artists to reinvigorate some of their careers. This should be a solo album and new songs for Barry. Let The Bee Gees be and leave the songs to the originals. RIP Maurice, Robin and Andy

9. LOVE the new album! - WOW! I have always been a Bee Gees fan - even BEFORE disco. Love Massachusetts & New York Mining Disaster! This new spin on their music is so refreshing. My favorite is Gotta Get a Message to You, but all the songs are all amazing. Thank you Sir Barry for introducing the Bee Gees music to a whole new audience. No doubt your brothers are very proud & celebrating this album with you.

10. For the most part a stellar album... - The material is obviously solid, and you either “get” Barry Gibb or you don’t. You either appreciate his unique sound or you don’t. As for the collaborations, you can never go wrong with Dolly Parton or Alison Krauss, and I think those are the standouts. I also like that Gillian Welch and David Rawlings brought their style to the table. I like Little Big Town and think they’re incredibly talented, but I think their two appearances is a bit much. I’m not a fan of Sheryl Crow and don’t understand why she’s on so many tribute-type albums. I get that she likes a lot of different artists and styles of music, but I don’t think she’s that versatile as an artist herself. At the end of the day, this album is about the songs, and the collaborators are lovingly trying to fill the void left by the other brothers, which is a sweet tribute to The Bee Gees’ legacy.

1. Joni’s best! Perfection! - This album is pure perfection with Court and Spark coming in close. Joni is an extremely great writer, singer, and producer. You can hear that she’s coming out of one relationship as she finds love in another, as she tells her story on Blue. Especially on the tracks, A Case of You and River. She is an Icon, Legend, and a brilliant artist too. and you can see her Art on some of her most famous album covers. Don’t miss what’s coming up for Joni on July nd, she’s releasing her Reprise albums from - and on October , The Joni Mitchell Archives, Vol. . Seeing her on stage was a true delight and one of the highlights of my life. I wish her well, always

2. I’m Ashamed - ...that back then (the ‘’s) I never listened to her music (caught snippets of her songs from a commercial or from a radio in a passing car). Now years later I’m watching a Netflix mini-series called ‘AWAY’ Hillary Swank episode ‘Space Dogs’ and at the end a woman’s beautiful voice is singing a beautiful haunting song called ‘RIVER’ and it moved my soul & I couldn’t find out who sang it. I didn’t see it listed in credits. So I went to ITunes & yes...JONI MITCHELL. I will now listen to her album ‘BLUE’

1. Read a Facebook comment about her and… - …on a lark decided to look her up in iTunes. As a wannabe vocalist myself (albeit male), I listen intently to countless singers and have never heard one so perfect in tone and pitch. Truly mesmerizing, flitting from note to note with such ease and accuracy it’s tempting to think, ‘It’s too good.’ But to me, it’s irresistible. Will also buy her live blues album because—as great as she was with this soft genre—she’s even better in the blues!

1. How I'd Forgotten - my mom had 'In the Wind' on vinyl when I was a kid, and I fell in love with these simply arranged songs that I knew all by heart and sang whenever I could. Saw them in concert in the early s but I don't remember the show at all. This is the true beauty of music in it's most stripped form that captured heart, soul, meaning, minimal musical instruments (& of course production) and vocals. That's all these songs needed and they are classics. I doubt much from today's music will ever stand as tall nor last as long as these classic PP&M tracks. Love them so much and have such a respect for music like this. I get so much more out of it now as an adult then I did as a child.

2. The very best - How I wish those days were here again. When music and songs had the power to move mountains. People listened, people thought. There was a chance to change the world and we believed it could happen. Peter, Paul & Mary were a voice I'd never heard, and yet so familiar. I will always love their music and their passion. What they sang, they truly believed. Bless you.

3. :D - When I was younger, my parents always played this type of music and I loved it. As I got older though, I started listening to rap and pop and whatnot. I am so glad that I started listening to this music again! It's much better than what I used to listen to, in my opinion. P.S. In case you were wondering, my parents played this music I think until the time I was or . I'm not sure. I got into rap and pop when I was or and I am now.

4. Dont laugh at me - I am a little boy with glasses one they call a freak a little girl that never smiles because i got braces on my teeth and i know how it feels to cry myself to sleep. I am that kud on every playground whos always chosen last a single teenage mither trying to over come my past you dont have to bemy friend it it to much to ask? I know this song by heart. - i have a talent when hearing a song once, i immediatly memorize it. - i sang it for a stop drug thing.

5. An excellent compilation of PP&M - If you don't have any music from PP&M, this is a great album to start with. It contains all of the "necessary" hits ("Puff, the Magic Dragon", "Lemon Tree", and many more), as well as some of their stronger offerings from their later period ("El Salvador", "Wedding Song (There Is Love)"). It's more comprehensive than The Best of Peter, Paul and Mary, and you won't get any of their lesser songs. Therefore, it's a great introduction to the group.

6. The Very Best of... - From my high school days in the early 's through my Air Force hitch in the mid-'s to their live performance at the Dane County Coll. in Madison, WI before the great peace march on Washington D.C., I have listened to and enjoyed the beauty of PPM's music. Many of their songs have special meaning because I stood next to them at the alter at the Newman Center on the UW campus when they sang a midnight mass for peace before the march. Their music and message of peace and social justice will live in my heart forever.

7. "Early in the Morning" inspiring jam - Thanks almost entirely to an episode of Mad Men, yes the tv show, this quick and brief tune has become an inspiring song to listen to. Of course the "Wedding Song" is my personal favorite since I sang it to my wife on our wedding day, over ten years ago. Nice song from P,P & M.
2010-01-31
8. Wow - I just listened to the album through four times straight. "Don't Laugh at Me" encompasses everything that Peter Paul and Mary stand for. All of the songs are wonderful, I but I particularly like "Lemon Tree" and "Follow Me." The passing of Mary is very sad, but thus album will keep her voice alive at its best.
2009-12-27
9. Their voices and words continue to touch us - Even after listening to their music for more than years, they continue to touch me deeply. It is such a difficult task to select only songs from a huge mass of important music. These choices were perfect. My sense is that the sound engineering on the disc was quite good. The range of the sounds and their separation was excellent. Having heard the original recordings, this is an impressive feat. PPM have left their mark not only on the world of music, but also on the thoughts and values of several generations. It is a sad week with the death of Mary Travers. I am sure many of us feel we have lost a good friend and an important part of our lives.

10. Entering my Time Machine - I first heard sweet Mary's voice from a squeaking speaker of the small transistor radio tuned to meters medium waves, AM. The station's name was Radio Luxembourg (...your station of the stars). I was in my teens, and the world was in it's early sixties of the last century. Instantly, I was overwhelmed by the folk trio. I learned the lyrics of their songs, I practiced to play the tunes on my guitar. " miles," "Blowin'In the Wind," "Lemon Tree" and a few other songs in this album became my real ABC of the folk music. Thanks to PP&M I met Bob Dylan, Donovan, Pete Seeger, and "ahead of them all" - Joan Baez. Then I grew up, listened to folk, country and bluegrass every now and then, gradually forgetting Peter Paul and Mary. Radio Luxembourg is long gone, black vinyls lay useless in the cellar... One click in iTunes Store brought me back to my happy, silly days. Instantly. I am amazed.

11. The Very Best. - Peter Yarrow, Mary Travers and Paul Stookey put the feelings of a generation to music. With the possible exception of Bob Dylan and Joan Baez, no one sang it better. They get the marks for melody at least in the comparison to Bob Dylan. This collection? Wish there more than Five Stars. Must have. Gotta listen. Time and time again. Now more than ever unfortunately.

1. Graceland - This album will most likely be my favorite for the rest of my life. Graceland truly stands the test of time. Simon manages to tell his own stories in such a manner that you're certain you've been there before. Crazy Love Vol II is my personal favorite off this album. Graceland is most likely the best album of all time, at least the best I'll ever hear.
2016-10-21
2. Commercial Flop. - This album found it's way into the cutout bins early on after it's release. If your hard core Paul Simon you can stomach it. But if your looking for really good music , go elsewhere. This album is bad. If I-Tunes was giving this away I would not waste the storage space on my computor.
2015-12-28
3. Test of Time - I remember hearing these songs while traveling to wrestling tournaments. Paul Simon has always amazed me with his seemingly down to earth character. I've mowed many lawns while listening to this tape. I've somehow lost my purchase from iTunes but, I still have a few of the songs on one of his greatest hits compilations. The reviews, with the exception of TimmyDs and a couple of others, have been dead on accurate. TimmyD, I'm still shaking my head and wondering what it is you actually listen to. This man is one of the greatest poets and song writers of a few generations.

4. Mostly good summer pop - This album his hit and miss - with more hit than miss. Even the misses have elements of things that I like in the song. It's great summer pop at its best and weird Rusted Root meets Coming to America soundtrack at it's worst. Two of his best songs are found on here in Diamonds and You Can Call Me Al. They're classic hits and two staples on my summer playlist. His pioneering smooth vocals are also in top form here. I've always loved how breezy his singing is on this album. There are many people who've modeled thier vocals after Paul's style of singing. Josh Rouse springs to mind as someone who seems to have been primarily influenced by this album. A couple of songs were not worth keeping, however. I wanted to like Homeless, but it was just too far out there. I also didn't love the occasional zydeco feel on a couple of the songs like Boy In The Bubble. And the freaky background vocals on I Know What I Know ruined a potential classic. They sounded like flamingos on Ritalin. It's such a shame, because it took a star song down to a star song. Minus the terrible background singing, it's a great song otherwise. This album is primarily made up of star songs. There's five star songs, four star songs, three star songs, two star song, and throwaways.

5. Maybe I wouldn't have appreciated this album as a younger man. - I'm occasionally blown away by an album - the writing, the music, the instrumentation, the actual performance itself. "Graceland" is one of those albums. And, how I've never listened to it in its entirety until today, I may never know. But, I'm glad I "discovered" it after all of these years.

6. Great Stuff - Hands down one of Paul Simon's best albums I love how he incorporated the Maskandi style with his rock style it meshed well. I see now why him, Johnny Clegg, and Ladysmith Black Mambazo got along so well. Their live performances of these types of songs are timeless I wish I owned them all cause they are awesome.

7. Paul Simon Graceland Ann Edit - I bought and downloaded this album...it kept giving me the message that something was wrong and I had to do it again. I did it again and I was CHARGED AGAIN and now have two of every song! I want of every song, my money back for one of the same albums I accidentally purchased and I want that "problems downloading" message to go away!!!! Very mad!!!!
2013-10-01
8. Holds up, again and again. - Any number of rock records tend to receive the old worn cliche: "being rediscovered by multiple generations." As an understated masterpiece of songwriting and pop music alike, however, Graceland's songs seem to flow without interruption through the public imagination from year to year, never having been taken out of rotation in the first place. As well, it offers a firm reminder of the power of an undeniably strong collection of tracks, ever avoiding the fate of hit-single-plus-forgetable-filler. A persistent influence for me, from some of my earliest memories to the umpteenth rotation.

9. Musical Genius - My mom once told me that this album (and Rhythm of the Saints, which is also very good) got her through law school back in the early s. I can see why. The songs on this album are incredibly brilliant works of art; Paul Simon is a musical legend to me. And the background behind this album is particularly interesting, which adds all the more richness. My favorites are definitely All Around the World, Crazy Love, Vol. II, and I Know What I Know. The title song is also very good. I originally listened to this album on a Walkman, so that was a different era to be sure, but these are still fantastic songs. I highly recommend this album and any other by Paul Simon, or for that matter, by Simon & Garfunkel.

10. Clearly one of the best artists of our time. - I just watched the documentary of the making of this album. Gave me an even deeper understanding of what Paul Simon and the South African artists had to go through at the time. They are all persevered despite the political cries for the cultural boycott. Perhaps BigTimmyD should educate himself before reviewing an artist he clearly knows nothing about...the fact that he had to 'look this guy up to find out who he was' says it all! Buy the album!

11. One of my all-time favorites - I remember listening to this album when I was a child, played by my parents who were Paul Simon fans. I still enjoy it today. My younger brother was named after "Under African Skies!" I had the opportunity to meet Mr. Simon at my job, and even though it is very discouraged, I made it a point to tell him how big of a fan I was of him in general but especially this album. He thanked me with a smile and it made my day!

1. Have loved AK's angelic singing for many - years. Now I love her singing w R Plant and I never knew his works when I was in HS or college, only his name and maybe one song. Now they have two albums together. Ahhhhh In took my HS Senior dau to see them perform on their Raising Sand Tour in Louisville Ky and my daughter's HS friend's were SO jealous that she got to go see RP-Rock God.

1. Beautiful music - Clearly starting an album off with a song like “cover me up” is like throwing a Molotov cocktail into your speakers for what’s about to follow - great songwriting, great voice, incredible guitars - I love every track. “But home was a dream, one I’d never seen, til you came along...”. My god. It’s just perfectly crafted.

2. This album showcases his brilliance - His songwriting was, for lack of a better term, undermined by the influence of Truckers as a band. He had the ability to truly showcase his skills since then and to me this was his best effort. The difficult topics like Yvette are graced with passion and leave you spell bound. What a great album!!

3. Purchase this album now! - I first learned of Jason Isbell from his podcast interview with Marc Maron and was immediately intrigued by him, his story, and his talent. The intrigue was obviously not strong enough for me to do anything other than file him under "to be checked out at a later time." A friend reminded me of Isbell a month or two ago and I began listening to some of his library available on Spotify. I was drawn to the music and lyrics of "Southeastern" which exemplify raw art. Every track from the upbeat "Super " to the affecting "Elephant" exudes a kind of honesty and vulnerability. Isbell creates characters and stories with his music that doesn't leave you. His turn of phrase with the compelling vocal and musical accompaniment linger in my consciousness and deepens my love for music. Buy this album now.

4. Best Album to be made in years, period ! - I'm so glad Jason is happy and healthy and on his own. He is the shining light in a gray and cloudy music Industry.
Well done young man, the writing is genuine and compelling. Beautiful execution of real music. Been a long time since I was
excited about new music, but this is it. Thanks

5. Amazing - I couldn't possibly give this left than stars. Jason Isbell was always my favorite member of Drive-by Truckers when he was in the band. He is a top notch songwriter. Every song paints a vivid picture in your mind and it's like a collection of short stories, each one heartfelt and meaningful. By far my favorite album of last year. I listen to all kinds music from The Grateful Dead to Snoop Dog. This is something special.
2015-01-14
6. Great stuff - I bought this because I'd been hearing a lot of good things about Jason. And I gotta say, I love it. It reminds of the old country my mom listened to when I was growing up. This guy is the real deal, and I'm looking forward to seeing him play on his next tour. Got my ticket! Buy this album. You won't regret it. He knows how to tell a story, and he's been through some tough stuff. We can all relate.

7. Best album in years. - This is the best album I have heard since Ryan Adams' Gold album. The most amazing and clever lyrics I have heard in a long long time. Looks like sobriety brought out the best in his musical talent. I can't wait for his next album. Some of the lyrics made me laugh out loud at their genius.
2014-08-08
8. True Perfection - This album --- it's songwriting, performance, and production are perfect. A lot of his vocals are single takes, and the dynamics of the songs insure that the life of each instrument and lyric are full of the truth and the human element. This album should be nominated for album of the year . No question in my mind.

1. How fast is your car? - Walking to work fast car popped into my head. And in that ten minute walk I remembered being in high school. Liking almost every genre of music except folk music. And at that moment, adding what is essentially the folk music of my generation, to that list. (Ok, James Taylor was the exception, but not enough till that point to make me add folk music to my list)!

2. One of the best albums of the s - Tracy Chapman managed to strike a lot of chords with this seminal album. Songs full of emotion and reflection, anger, angst, desire, longing. "Talkin' Bout A Revolution" reminded me so much of Patti Smith's "Frederick" from the s, how it starts off softly, then builds to a wonderful, driving beat. Kind of like making love. Still one of the best albums of the s from a woman who, at the time, was unique. Kind of like Joan Armatrading in this respect, she makes her own music and no one else sounds like her.

3. Legendary - This is one of the greatest singer-songwriter albums of all time. There's not a single bad song on this. Her voice is so smooth and beautiful, yet packed with so much emotion and passion. Her lyrics are real and honest; she knows how to write an incredible song. This is one of those records that moves me to the core every time I listen to it. It's a record I've grown up with, and it's shaped me in so many ways. Tracy Chapman is at her finest here (not than any of her other albums aren't spectacular), and if this album isn't already a favorite, it soon will be. Favorite songs:
Fast Car
Talkin' 'Bout A Revolution
Behind The Wall
She's Got Her Ticket
Why?
For My Lover Least favorite:
Couldn't pick if you paid me

4. And Not Poorly Produced WOW - This albums is amazing. simple as that. Every song speaks of real issues and does not feel preachy. My favorite album on vinyl and I have listened to thousands of records. If you have a chance to listen to it on vinyl, do it! Still good on Mp. Whole album sounds like something from the early seventies. Excellent!
2014-10-14
5. DON'T think about it, just DOWNLOAD the album - Hearing all these songs brings back memories. I remember the first time I heard "Fast Car" I couldn't stop listening to it over and over again. I was only when the song was released and was too young to fully understand the meaning of all her songs, but I couldn't stop listening to it. I'm thrilled I can download the entire album from iTunes. Now if only I could get some old school Kid Rock.

6. Not Your Average Artist - I first heard this album when I was yrs old (in ). I remember it stirring something inside of me and my having to stop and listen to this beautiful somewhat haunting voice. Some yrs later I still have the same reaction anytime I put this CD on or hear one of these songs. She is a rare talent and masterful songwriter/storyteller. She should be ranked as one of THE voices of the th century and beyond. She is timeless!

1. krause is held back - Alison Krause is one of the best fiddle players and she does not really perform as before. Plant seems to be the front man and she is second fiddle (pun intended) She has an extraordinary voice that seems more backup. It especially shows in the live concert. Come back Alison!! You are the equal to Plant or better: you not only have the voice but the fiddle playing. The camera followed Plant like he ws a god--not appreciated.

2. Putting the Blue in Blue Grass - This is just plain beautiful listening. Both are are in fine voice and their harmonies could not be sweeter. From “Quattro” to “Somebody Was Watching Over Me,” the laid back vibe and blue grass twang creates an escape from the trouble of these times. Robert Plant has been a fave of mine for a long long time. Happy to see him paired with the golden vocals of Alison Krause once again. It just works. Another world of spun silver is created on a track like the sultry “Price of Love” with its slow beat and Krause’s silky slick vocals or the slow flowing ballad “Go Your Way” where rock and blue grass with a hint of blues bends and blends simplicity with quiet power. “Can’t Let Go” is an upbeat cross between Cool Jerk and Wipe Out with a groove and a steel guitar riff that gets the toe tapping. Intimate. Personal. Soulful. Mature. Plant has settled into being crooner with an edge. Alison is just masterful with every note she sings.

3. Masterful - This album and its predecessor are great examples of what happens when you take people who are just genuinely fantastic musicians and let them alone. To my ears, this music transcends any genre and places the spotlight on the songs themselves. Beautifully arranged and performed, this is the best type of album--the kind you can just put on and listen to from start to finish and feel like you went on a journey by the end of it.

4. Thankful for Robert & Alison reunion - The first song is so delightful! The retro sound, clean, excellent arrangement and productionand performances. Two people who love what they're doing and do it so well. They don't have to prove anything to anyone. Many thanks to T Bone Burnett for bringing them together in the first place. (Please tour!)

1. Soul Guide in music form. - This album is like the kindest version of my soul climbed out of my body and tenderly invited me back in for tea, and led me to courage. Gosh, Sara, thank you. For being an artist. For being true. For inviting us and enlightening us to a long, loving look at the real. It pops, it flows, it sways, it pushes, it envelops. This is a timeless compilation of music that will companion me for a long time to come.

2. What a great song ! - Just heard Love Song...thank you Sara Bareilles. As we're headed into , being late discovering new tunes is nothing new for me. This is now one of many song's I'm listening to as I experience the effects of what first felt like a full on infactuation then realized it was (some sort of very nice ) love when my only request would be sensible shoes ! While she trends to sneakers and boots, and looks great in those spike heels, it scares the beejesus out of me to see her wear 'em. Sensible shoes, all ladies, please - many of us guys have long realized height has nothing to do with stature. Who knew sensible shoes, would be synonymous with love ?

3. What a Great Album - This was the first album I listened to of Sara's. I loved (and still love) all of her songs on Little Voice. The songs are great, with melancholy tracks such as "City" and "Between The Lines", and especially "Gravity". But Sara also has upbeat, almost sassy tracks, such as "Bottle It Up", "Morning Side", and "Love On The Rocks". This album can be listened to again and again without the tracks becoming tired or boring. Way to go Sara!!
2014-11-04
4. I love Sara... - With that being said, I truthfully don't think she will ever, EVER be able to top this album. Her newer tracks are phenomenal because this girl cannot miss with her voice or her talent, but I don't think she will ever come out with another CD like this one where every single song could serve as a single. This is her best work by far...and that's saying something coming from a die-hard fan.
2013-07-15
5. Amazing - I don't like her other album, Kaleidoscope Heart at all, but I'm glad this one is here while I wait for The Blessed Unrest (which will be out in a few days. I hope its good). I love % of the songs on here. The other songs are good but they are kind of slow and I don't care for that. Sara Barellies has such a beautiful voice, she really should be known more. My favorite songs on this album are: -Love Song
-Morningside
-Many The Miles
-Bottle It Up
-City This album is for sure worth downloading.

6. AWESOME - I think that Sara is so amazing. Great voice, great musician, great writing. I used to only listen to really really well known artists but then I heard one note of one of her songs and I has hooked on her. I have noticed that the not as well known artists put more effort and quality in one lyric than the well knowns do in there whole song.
GO SARA!!!!!!!!!! :)

1. years and on the charts - It's been a long time coming but I think the timing is perfect. BCB's rise to fame has not been meteoric but her fans will beg to differ. She's been knocking our socks off for years! So happy "The Story" is getting the recognition it deserves proving the band's longevity! Her voice has never been better - maybe a re-release is in order :)
2022-12-14
2. Perfection - This song is perfection. I heard it for the first time recently (ummm, yes I've been under a rock) on NPR as trailer for Frontline and was smitten with it. It is evocative and rocking just right. It seems like a once in a career home run but I hope not. I listened to her other songs and albums on Spotify and can't find anything else quite as hard hitting as this beautiful ballad but I'm sure she has written and sung other masterpieces. She's the real deal and I love her attitude about genres! I love ballads and this song is right up there with my all time favorites now.

3. It's a no for me...... - I got the song "The Story" from iTunes back in as a freebee. I gave her stars for effort. Someone mentioned Linda Ronstadt. Linda was a great singer. She was a classic. She had a wide vocal range. Brandi doesn't. I sampled a few more songs from the album and they didn't thrill me. I have a philosophy. You're either great, good or bad. She's good. Good singers are a dime a dozen. Her songs don't match her vocals. What's odd is, I didn't know she had more songs since then. Her publicity isn't that great either. I'll sample her music further. One other note. Whoever is helming her music needs to put her out there if they have faith. That's a wrap.

4. Hiiii!! - Hey you guys, I'm a metalhead, and why am I here? Oh, so I can appreciate all kinds of music. Normally I listen to stuff like Slayer, Black Sabbath/Ozzy Osbourne, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Metallica, Anthrax, Megadeth, KISS, Mötley Crüe, AC/DC, Guns N' Roses, The Grateful Dead, Led Zeppelin, Slipknot, The Runaways, Van Halen, etc., but this girl freakin' Rox! God I love this girl. She's a hard rockin' chick at heart! Love ya girly!

5. The Story - I went on to download The Story after watching The Lucky One and ended up falling in love with the whole album and Brandi Carlile's voice. I'm a huge Indigo Girls fan and her sound reminded me so much of them. I can't wait to play it over and over, memorize every song and belt them out in the car! I'm now a huge Brandi Carlile fan and wished I'd discovered her a lot sooner!!! Kristen Hartman

6. A Diamond from the Northwest - If there was any concern that the Seattle music scene died after Grunge, then listen to this album. Brandi's vocals will blow you away. Great songwriting. Great musicians. I love recordings that sound like they were recorded live in the studio. Her music sounds just as good live as it does on recording. She is the real deal. A real Talent. Her back-up band, the Hanseroth Twin, are also a great discovery. By her music.

7. This is amazing! - A relative of mine gave this CD to us a while ago, and i have been in love with her music ever since. Several songs from this album have applied to situations in my life, and her voice range is so like my own, so i can sing her in Talent shows and such. She is such an amazing, real artist, and she is so inspiring. Shadow On the Wall and Again Today really speak to me, and i am glad to have her songs to listen to when im feeling down. This album is absolutelty fantastic!

8. I love her - Saw her in concert and couldn't believe such a big sound could come out of such a tiny body. She's truly amazing, from her unique and powerful voice to her beautiful lyrics. Written from the true perspective of someone who's lived through a lot. I won't ever forget going to her concert at the meijer gardens in Grand Rapids, it was amazing:)
2011-12-15
9. Just can t understand.... - Granted I d take emotion over singing quality, and Brandi does have a ton O emotion...otherwise I just can t figure why she s a critics darling. Bland songs, sub-par vocals, not much more to offer here. I wish the Twins backing her would focus once again on The Fighting Machinists, who once rocked Seattle...
2011-04-23
10. Brandi Carlile!!! - She was amazing in her debut, Brandi Carlile. now she's back and, possibly, better than before. this album will give you the chills (in a good way.) and her voice, blissful and well-controled, can melt over a thousand ice cream cones, not to mention ur heart. my favorites are the story, late morning lullaby, turpentiner, have you ever, and my song. can't wait for her next one! go Brandi!!! :)
2011-04-17
11. Every song is amazing! - I heard the song "The Story" at the grocery store where I used to work. A co-worker asked who sang it, so I picked out some of the lyrics, and googled it. That is how I found Brandi Carlile. This CD is just absolutely brilliant, through and through. She and her bandmates are awesome. Every song, I think, "This is my favorite song!" Then the next song comes on...If I had to choose, it would probably be "Wasted." If you are unsure about buying this, don't be!

1. Indescribable - Not often will you find me listening to a whole album on repeat. From the initial discovery, from a car commercial, I am hooked. Although she may sound more country, do not let this dismay you. She has a natural born rasp and pure talent. Her lyrics fly out of the songs and stay with you. To put it simply, give it a listen.
2015-02-24
2. Amazing - I have loved Brandi since the beginning and when I finally saw her in person, she touched my soul. She talked about when she sang "That Wasn't Me" to a bunch of woman prisoners on a table of the lunchroom. Her voice is the perfect mix of Johnny Cash and Janis Joplin and people who say she falls flat can just leave her page. Haters don't deserve to listen to her angel voice.
2013-12-27
3. Always rich - I saw Brandi perform with the Seattle Symphony before I was familiar with her music, and I promised myself I'd never miss a concert again. Her albums are meticulously created, and live, her songs are re-created with energy and depth. I'd call her an old soul, but I think an ageless soul would be more accurate. I feel like we're growing up together.
2013-10-18
4. Feels like home... - Never heard of her before until I watched a movie with her song in it. "Hearts Content". I searched here and this cd popped up. I listened to a couple of songs and absolutely fell in love. Her sound makes you feel like you're home. Wherever you are. In the city, country, her music is home. I'm fortunate to have found you Miss Brandi Carlile.

5. Very different from her other albums, but I love this new direction! - Bear Creek is one of the better albums I have heard in a long time. Every single song has beautiful lyrics, vocals, and layers of bluegrass, folk, gospel etc. It is a whole new sound for her, but I think it is her best album to date and I love this new direction she has taken. Go Brandi! Buy this album you will not regret it :)

6. Brandi inspires me to continue to write and craft songs - Brandi continues to be an insipiration on my own songwriting, as well as her aggresive strumming on an acoustic, her gritty vocals, her amazing ability to craft lyrics that move the soul. This record showcases a more country side of Brandi that is nothing short of brilliant!

7. Bear Creek - Bought this because it is the name of the place my grandparents came from on my mothers side of the family in NC. Black bears roam this area of NC. Her music is in a style my grandparents would have liked, and because she reminds me of them with this album, I'll pay more attention to her music! I really like her singing style from discovering this album here on iTunes today. I don't pay attention to the world around me much, stay busy within my own little universe, so seems like God pointed me in this direction when I found this album! Plus this past December I successfully got a kidney and pancreas transplant and my life has really taken a turn for the miraculous, so guess this miracle year for me is still working with things like the 'Bear Creek' album! Maybe, just maybe the spirits of my grandparents just might have nudged my brain a bit. Have to say I've seen some very amazing things since the transplants on the miracle side of life, know many will not believe that kind of statement, but miracles are real! Finding this today is just another part of my miracles this year! LOL! Brandi Carlile, wish you all the best in your singing career, you definitely found a new listener today! DJ Emery

8. Love her music! - I usually don't like any cd the first time I listen to it, but Bear Creek was an exception. I've seen Brandi live twice and hopefully this summer will be my third. I have all of her CDs and can't pick a fav, I love them all. She and the twins just sound so perfect together. She truly is one of the most underrated talents of our time!

9. Love her music - Just attended her nd show of the Bear Creek Tour in the Twin Cities on --. She played a great mix of old and new. If you haven't seen Brandi live, don't miss it. She is incredible and her band sounds better than ever! She had the crowd in the palm of her hands from start to finish. Love the music on her new album. I feel it is really true to her spirit!
2012-06-23
10. Where does this soul come from? - Every album amazes me with its uniqueness and new complexities. When I heard "Raise Hell," I thought for sure that it must be a cover of a Johnny Cash song I had not heard before. This team is such a prolific group of songwriters, and this collection has a range unlike any of the others. I am trying to savor it, but I love it so much that I can't stop listening.
2012-06-22
11. AWARD - Brandi and the band deserve a Grammy for this one!! After listening to it more, there is so much personality in this. Different style here and there sounds good!!! You know some artists and every song sounds like the last!! This album is NOT like that Thank God! She is growing - we grow with her! I LOVE BEAR CREEK!!!

2. Mature Vocals at their Best - I own both this and the United Artists Classics and Gordon Lightfoot has been one of my favourite singers since the mid-s. The tremolo in his later voice is glorious but I love the angst of the early voice quality of the younger man equally. These songs are the essence of Canada in my mind, I see the landscape and seasons in the words. I think also of love, lost, won, forgotten, remembered with nostalgia. “Affair on th Avenue” says it all. Gordon Lightfoot is the voice I want to hear in front of a fireplace with brandy and my favorite ….

3. Gord's Gold - First off, The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald was released in . This album came out in .
The United Artists material has all been rerecorded and with the exception of Wherefore and Why, the originals are better.
Buy the albums called "Did She Mention My Name" and "The Way I Feel." then treat yourself to the first Reprise albums. Each one a classic. If You Could Read My Mind, Summer Side of Life, Old Dan's Records, Don Quixote and Sundown. Summertime Dream is also a must. Avoid Gord's Gold II. Then continue into the s with Dream Street Rose, Shadows and Salute. Gordon Lightfoot set a high benchmark for singer/songwriters. Don't confine yourself to a greatest hits package. You're missing out on some of the highlights of his career.

4. soakin through my vanity fairs - this album saved my marriage! i was never much into music, i was never a passionate lady. i had been married for fifteen years, and my husband still had the drive of a year old if you know what i mean. frankly, i was pooped. but then one day he brought his old record collection home and he put this one on. never has something brought out so many feelings and desires. i felt like a new woman. i felt gold. this is a great album for any woman that has lost that "summer side of life."

1. Not certain this is the complete recording - Where is Crazy Bones? Other songs missing? I don’t know but maybe that’s why the price is so cheap. If so, c’mon iTunes...we all deserve better. Probably a - star recording but iTunes won’t allow a post without any stars. So I give it a just to get this posted with the understanding that this review is to call out iTunes, not Mr. Prine!

2. All of his songs! - -- SADLY I have never heard of John Prine! I feel terribly cheated!! I cant find the words to say how much I luv his lyrics! I luv his voice more today than his earlier yrs. I luv his style, his attitude, his humble, REAL personality! Im (in April) & a singer for Jesus & now a forever fan. Im tryn to make up for lost time by buyn alot of his music! Sing till the grave John!

3. Great surprise any time I hear his songs - I've loved John Prine's songs since I heard his song about an illegal smile. (Oh heck, that's not the title.) -- And just now, I heard, "Lonesome Friends of Science," and I've head several of his other songs from this album and others. Every time I hear his songs, they are wry, poignant, funny, thoughtful, caring, occasionally just a bit off-color, but in a friendly, good way you would be proud for people to hear, and really fantastic stuff. Thanks, John Prine, for great stuff and for being a bright light in a mixed-up old world. You're an old soul. Awesome stuff.

4. a classic - my god i love his music. i saw him live in memphis and i loved every second of the concert. i’m not usually into country or folk, but my one exception is john prine. my dad listened to him a long time ago, and he showed me the Great Compromise and i was hooked. there’s something very soothing about john’s voice, and his writing is phenomenal. another perfect album.

5. John Prine fans in Norway - His first album had liner notes by Kris Kristopherson that said someting like "He's years old and writes like he's ." John Prine is John Prine. Yeah, his voice is a little older. Not quite as full. Thats okay. He is just outstanding (Cant you hear him singing a song, all tongue in cheek, about his journey through life called "Outstanding in His Field"? It would be a hoot). My band (US Navy unauthorized band) played a bar in Norway back in -. In between sets I would play a few acoustic tunes. Imagine my suprise when the Locals started singing along to "Illegal Smile" and "Flag Decal". Lots of free beer insued. Thanks for the songs John. Thanks for the free beer too.

6. Words Can't Do Justice - Where to begin. I've been a JP fan since high school. Last night I saw John in Portland OR for my th Birthday and he is nothing short of golden. I've seen just about every big named band in every huge venue that you could name, but never have I been so touched, mezmerized and flat out blown away than last night. When most folks would have hung it up after a battle with cancer, JP and his amazing band take a crowd and float them away on the Tree of Forgiveness, and a generous helping of classics. Every note of this album is magical, and if you get a chance to cath JP on tour (with Todd Snider) - do not miss it. Thank you John for so many sweet notes over the years - I love you man. Seeing you was the treat of a lifetime. How Lucky Can One Man Get?

7. "When you're dead...you're a dead peckerhead." - Yeah...this album is incredible, start to finish! Prine's lyrics, tunes, and vocals are as sharp as ever. This guy deserves way more recognition than he gets. "When I Get To Heaven" is the new "Dear Abby." I had a smile on my face the whole time. Amazing!

8. Already Best Album of the Year - Wow! This album is spectacular! I've loved this artist for years and have waited for too long to hear these songs. Such wisdom. Such insight. So proud. Please, John, lock yourself up in a hotel room for another week and do this again. Soon. We need all the music that's in you.

9. Going to Smoke a Cigarette Miles Long - Like a fine bottle of wine that ages well... The Trees need no Forgiveness here. John's the quasiesential singer sonwriter extraordinare. My favorites (& I love the whole album) but the stand outs are; Knocking On Your Screen Door (can you help me wth these pork'n'beans) Crazy Bone, Summer's end (will bring a tear to your eye) God Only Knows (no this is not a Beach Boys cover) & When I get to Heaven (that's wher ethe mile cigarette, smoke 'em if you got 'em & get me a cocktail & rock n roll band, comes in...). It would be real hard not to like these clever earthy jaunts... Did we mention Brandi Carlile, Chris Stapleton, Jason Isbell, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Sturgill Simpson & lordy knows who else is here. Thank You John.

10. A wise sigh - Greeley Colorado singing “ Sour Grapes “. Tire treads “O”
Life later, there it is - that mind, that humility, that secret voice that one is certain they are the only one getting it. But Oh boy - all those touched, inspired, move to laughter and tears. Where did he get his mail? Thank you Mr. Prine.

11. days - My tickets to the April show in Chicago include a free copy of the CD. Don’t know when I’ll get it and these pre-releases are killing me. I purchased “Summer’s End” even though I’ll eventually have the CD, onnaconna, hearing it online, I knew it was too good to wait for. The writing on recent albums is a little different from early Prine. He himself says it doesn’t come as easy as it used to. Collaboration seems to be a key to production. Re-working unfinished tunes is another. I don’t care how they are born, just happy to have new Prine songs coming into the world. I rate it five-stars based on Summer’s End and God Only Knows alone and because I am so glad that the Prine discography is still alive and growing.

1. Not her best - I’ve been a big fan of Brandi for several years. Was really looking forward to this album, as her previous have been excellent. Unfortunately, this effort disappoints. Other than Right in Time and Broken Horses, the rest of the songs could have been filler on any of her records. Very little energy in the writing her compared to her best songs. Maybe stretched too thin? In any case, let’s hope the next record gets back to demanding attention rather than take-it-or-leave-it background music.

2. Another home run for this superb band - I’m a longtime fan, been riding since ‘….and we’ve got yet another brilliant record from this band .. I love that they are exploring their musicality, refining it..and stretching it! Stretching their music out..to - minute songs. That’s what we need, longer songs, more musicality..and more Twinnies!

3. In These Silent Days - Once again, she delivers a record that feels familiar yet brand new with her signature wordplay and interesting chord progressions. “Right on Time” kicks it off, it’s obviously the hit of the album and for a good reason. The definite highlight is “Broken Horses,” the best song on the album. The deep cuts on the album, while weaker then the cuts on previous records, still have that signature feel. “This Time Tomorrow” and “Sinners, Saints and Fools” are not to be missed though. Very good album, and a welcome follow up to “By the Way, I Forgive You.”

4. Transcending Genres - What an album! From Right on Time to Throwing Good After Bad and the eight songs in between this is a phenomenal work of art. This album transcends genres from its rock opera ballads, Americana, folk vibes often rolled into one song. The three part harmonies of This Time Tomorrow are angelic. Mixed in are the Joni-esque You and Me on the Rock… Elton-style tingling piano by Shooter on Sinners Saints and Fools… Broken Horses where screaming in tune is warranted. Letter to the Past will stop you in your tracks… Mama Werewolf, When Your Wrong, and Stay Gentle have a tone all their own. Rollercoaster of an album where you should trust the producers sequencing and listen beginning to end. The best yet for Brandi and the Twins… and that speaks volumes as all their albums are phenomenal.

5. Just Ok - Brandi Carlisle has some amazing vocals and they are good songs, just not great. This album just doesn’t draw me in like the first album did. Just doesn’t have some of the raw imagery the first album had. Seems like the music is more of what she wants to Vs maintaining what brought her listeners in the first place.

6. THE BEST ALBUM ON EARTH - This is the best album I have ever listened to. I love every single song. I have been following Brandi since I first listened to “The Story” on Grey’s Anatomy Soundtrack . This was before I knew enough about her to know she was a lesbian. I had “The Story” albumn on repeat in my car daily. I was blasting it on the way to take my NCLEX, after the CD carried me through the last part of nursing school. I made a copy of the album for my mom because I thought she would like her. I listened to hee music as a mom. I met my wife at her concert at the Bomb Factory. I planned to propose at the Gorge on …but COVID. We made it to the Gorge already married this past August. Brandi is a phenomenal artist. I feel her music in my soul. This album is revolutionary.

7. AMAZING BRANDI - Brandi has never put out a bad album, and this one might be one of her best. I never thought I’d like any album as much as The Firewatchers Daughter or By the way, I forgive you, but this one is definitely a top contender. Her songs are so real and raw and her lyricism is unmatched. Love her so much!!!

8. Ten great tracks! - I’ve been a Brandi Carlile fan since the mid-s, and it has been such a pleasure to watch this band grow and evolve. The collaboration between Brandi Carlile, Phil Hanseroth and Tim Hanseroth as co-writers and band mates is some magical alchemy that few artists can match. I am honored that I have been able to witness their star rise, and as the spotlight has grown brighter, they have continued to raise the bar on their artistry. In These Silent Days is an incredible exploration of musical styles and influences from classic rock, glam pop, roots music, and vintage Seattle grunge/punk, all spun together into the sound that only BCB can make. The range of sounds and styles in this collection are bound together by a confidence and maturity that only comes as artists find their footing in the world. I know that some people will disagree with my statement that there are no skips and all ten tracks are winners, and that’s fine. I’ve been listening to this constantly since it dropped, and some songs have taken me a bit longer to warm to than others. Not every track is a singalong song, and depending on your genre preferences, you will find some easier to love than others. That said, I said what I said and I’ll stand by it. Every single track has something in it that shows you a slice of humanity, makes you think about a lyric, or hits your heart in a way that will break you open if you let it. The ones you have to listen to over and over again, that are harder for you to love, are probably the songs you need most to hear.

9. Love it - I’ve been a fan since and every album has more nuance and emotional openness than the last. While it has a different vibe than past albums, it’s beautiful and so Brandi and the Twins in every way. I enjoy being along for the ride as she grows as a musician, mother, partner, and human. Well done Brandi

10. A Golden Legacy - Brandi Carlile has seemingly mastered the ability to turn everything she’s involved with into pure gold. This album is likely to earn Carlile many additional awards and accolades, with the most important being a true legacy. The vocals, arrangement and lyrics will cement ‘In These Silent Days’ as one of the rare albums that years from now, people will reflect on and share how it has forever changed them.

1. Johnny Cash meets Fall Out Boy with x the Nuance - I'm not a fan of Country music because it is rarely done right- like most rap now-a-days. This is a talented artist doing the genre a service. The full album is filled with talented, nuanced music that simultaneously pumps you with energy while keeping you calm and level. Great new artist to add to any music lovers list. Thumb picks way up!!!

2. It’s a new genre for the world to listen to - Alejandro Rose-Garcia has invented his own genre, this style is like no other artist I have ever heard. Just the fact that much of "Only Son” is in / (an odd time signature) adds so much character to the sound. After his first three albums, released only online, Shakey Graves’ music remains unique and interesting. Esmé Patterson adds so much to the music also, adding another singer keeps the album fresh. If you like new, you’ll love Shakey Graves. I give this album without a doubt stars.

3. A Musical Rollercoaster Ride! - Shakey is a true artist. His music is so unique and never follows a structured format. The best part about his music, is how unpredictable it is. Just when you think you have the melody of a song figured out, it completely changes and catches you off guard. That's what makes you want to keep listening! And you'll never hear him perform a song the same way twice. He plays in the moment and lets his mood navigate the direction of the song. You get the feeling that sometimes, he doesn't even know where he's going with the song, he just feels it! Pure genius!

1. More Than Meets the Ear... - Joanna gets a lot of hate for her voice, particularly on this album and Ys, and yes, it's a bit of a hard listen. However, it's worth noting that Joanna significantly improved her singing style on her subsequent albums in and , and it actually sounds really beautiful now. So check those out before throwing shade. Joanna's voice sounds okay during some points of the album, and screechy at other times. And, yes, the lyrics are weird and impenetrable. If you can get past these elements, there's some great songwriting and harp-playing here. The closing track is a stunner. Her voice sounds pretty on that last track, actually, so maybe start there. She can grow on you, I promise!

2. Extremely talented harpist, AWFUL singing. - This is an artist I really, really wanted to like. As others have said, she is obviously a stellar songwriter and harpist/pianist. The girl absolutely knows how to craft a melody, and the harp is an instrument so rarely featured in most popular music, so it’s really refreshing to have an artist who’s finally bridging that gap and bringing it into a contemporary context.. I’ve now listened to this album and “Ys.” I have concluded that though she is a wonderful musician, she should have hired a singer other than herself to contribute the vocals, or, just done instrumental albums. The girl can’t sing to save her life. The vocals quite literally sound like a five year-old whose first language is not English. It is kind of painful to listen to, especially when she attempts to hit those high notes and squeaks/is audibly off-key. Why a producer didn’t say something, or at least stabilize the pitch, or autotune it in the studio, is beyond me. If I were one of “her people,” I would have gently suggested to her that she hire a singer. It’s just embarrassing, because the songs are otherwise beautifully crafted. Maybe this is just what hipster music is, though? Not sure...

3. The epitome of genius. - The first song off this album I ever heard was “Bridges and Balloons.” It nearly brought me to tears, which rarely happens with me. Ever since I have been hooked on this album. It is an incredible work of art, and brings countless colors and images to my mind. This is not to mention the poeticism of the lyrics that is like nothing I have seen before. Joanna Newsom is truly gifted, and her music is bound to be remembered.

4. She'll never top it. - A reviewer said they would like to hear Joanna sing in a "normal" voice. Well, following this album she did and look what happened. Sales were no where near her screechy, strained key debut. This album is a wonderful and fleeting gift that will never be again. Her doctor told he she was destroying her vocal chords with this style so she ceased. She switched to long renaissance like ballads in a normal voice and sorry, as much as I love Joanna for this gift to us of an album, the later work is a snooze that lacks the sing-a-long melodies, the raw spirit, and the straightforward unabashed honesty. The new stuff is pretentious and less approachable as a result of time changes that are less natural. THIS is THE Joanna Newsom album. Even if she risked her voice by attempting the raw style again, she is a different person now and I doubt she could recapture the youthful bravery or the fragile tenderness again. This album is a moment in time, so buy it and cherish it. "and yonder wild and blue, the wild blue yonder looms".

5. Not My First Choice. - I am a fan of all types of music. I can listen to almost anything and like it. I like Joanna Newsom, I really do, I like her style, her music, but I just can't get past her voice. I am not one to say wheather music is strictly good or bad, and I've tried to listen to her music, it's just that her voice to me is too loud and screechy. I'm sure she's a wonderful person though and I hope she keeps doing music for her fans.

6. (considering you appreciate her voice) - This album it the epitome of well written music, it's just her and her harp (or harpsichord) and she can play like a fkn angel. There is no question about that. But her voice... Most people come her to complain about her voice, but I find she puts the most feeling into her singing (listen to Sadie and try not to cry) than any other singer out there. It's a very cute tone, much like a child's, that gives me goosebumps from beginning to end. All in all, this is my favorite album of any artist. But i don't suggest listening to any if her other ones if you enjoyed this one.
Standout songs: All of them.
2012-03-09
7. It is actually a good album - I first heard Bridges & Balloons on a commercial a few years back and thought that it fit in with the environment that the commercial portrayed, but, alone, I was not impressed. For some reason, I went to listen to some of her other stuff and was shocked to see such praise for her music and I didn't get it. I continued to listen to the songs and, one day, I finally got the imagery she was putting out. After buying and listening to the album, I will concede that I get it now. There is one - maybe two - misses, if they can really be called misses, but it is a great album and it does grow on you. On a personal level, it strikes me as a perfect album for taking on lengthy road trips.

8. One of the best quality albums I - A friend showed me a couple of songs by her and I at first was a little offset, but I gave her a chance and got this album. I was astounded to hear actually great music. Very Imaginative, what a lot of music lacks now a days. Fave song on this album is "The Book of Right-ON". She's a great Harpist, theres also Piano, and I think some kind of Dulcimer in this, but I don't know if she's playing them, only assuming. At first I was thrown off by her voice, but after you really listen to her its innocent and beautiful. If your into Classical, New Age, or folk music in general TRY THIS, the best female artist I've heard that can sing and play HARP.

9. Skip the old stuff - I started out listening to Joanna with this ablum... and like the VAST majority of people who check out this album I could not stand listening to her singing for more than about songs. Even though the songwriting and melodies are lovely and creative, Her contrived child-like voice is just a deal breaker... even fore her!!! After damaging her vocal chords with this fake singing voice of her's Joanna was forced to change (and thankfully lower) her voice to a more natural tone. Her newer ablums are much better and way easier to listen to. If you are just starting out with Joanna's music start new and work your way backwards if you really like it. I DO NOT recommend starting fresh with Joanna's music with this ablum. However, if you can get past her voice... this is a great ablum... just give it a few listens.

10. Love it or hate it - The first song I heard of Joanna Newsom's was Peach, Plum, Pear. It starts off accessibly enough. You're thinking: "Oh, hey, a harpsichord. Right on." And then that voice. Jesus, where did that come from? It takes you completely off guard. WHO is singing? I have never before in my life heard singing like this. It was like a slap in the face followed by a kiss on the lips, like in the moving pictures. One minute I don't know what hit me, the next I'm madly in love. That's Joanna Newsom for you.
2010-09-06
11. AH AH AH RUN FOR THE NEAREST SOUNDPROOF ROOM! - Me and my brother were listening to the previews of this album and all the glass in our house shattered. The harp is cool--the voice is deadly. We agree with the "hit by a car" comments, but must add our own opinions. This sounds as if her vocal cords are being attacked by a ravenous bony pixie while she is being run over by a car and being eaten alive by a wolverine. MONSTERS FROM THE UNDERWORLD HAVE RISEN!!! This is absolutely not categorized as music! We absolutely loathe this album for its childlike qualities. No matter how many times I listen to it, I always scream with the pathetic disaster of this singer/harpist's album.
2010-05-29
12. New fan - I like her album better. On this one I like tracks , , and . I'm fascinated by "Sadie" and look forward to repeated listenings on the home commute. I love her lyrical freedom and her voice reminds me of my own musical play. This album has a country twang to her voice and album theme where her new album is more Alice in Wonderland like. I'm enjoying the contrast. Those who complain her voice became more commercialized after this album don't understand how artists grow or change themes from album to album. Maybe they're not musicians. Dunno. But this musician is enjoying her evolving work. Peace.

1. Must Have Album - Indigo Girls was my favorite group in the very early s. All of the songs on this album are amazing and timeless for me. Also check out Edie Brickell and the New Bohemians, , Maniacs, Yaz: Upstairs at Eric’s, and Enigma for a full taste of the time. Indigo Girls music is featured in a few movies to include Philadelphia with Tom Hanks. They appear and play in another movie with Drew Barrymore, Whoopi Goldberg, and Mary Louise Parker. I can’t remember the name of it.

2. Rites of Passage - The Mississippi's mighty, it starts in Minnesota at a place you can walk across five steps down...
Ghost The lyrical beauty of this album is breath-taking. I saw Joan Baez the year this album debuted. She preformed a song from it with the introduction that went something like "I'm now going to sing a song from perhaps the two best singer songwriters in the business today." Enough said.

3. ... Pivotal Moments in Ones Life ... - They say there are pivotal moments in ones life & there are several Rites of Passage that we must all "go thru." As I was going thru one of my pivotal moments & certainly a rite of passage from my early 's into adulthood, Rites of Passage was very much a part of my every day, a lot of my decisions & like a lot of music, it got me thru some really hard times... I LOVE IG, their lyrics have always touched a part of my soul & their harmony always puts a smile on my face. If you were to only buy one IG album, I suggest Rites! I guarantee you'll relate to at least of their songs. IG has a gift of hitting you in "that" place even if you're just half listening... Can't say enough about this album! Just buy it!! Long live Amy & Emily!! Peace

4. This is my favorite Indigo Girls Album too! - Maybe it's that I got Rites of Passage at an important coming-of-age point in my life (I was ) but I STILL LOVE Rites of Passage (and I am in my early 's now). My second fave would be Swamp Ophelia - that's the album that turned me on to the Indigo Girls. I was in my friends car and was like "What is that heavenly noise?" ;-) RoP is one of my choices for if-you-were-stuck-on-an-island-by-yourself-and-could-take--CDs... (and a cd player, and a power source)

5. Budgie on drums - One of my all time favorite albums for sure. Galileo and Love Come to You are songs that ring around in my head constantly. I met Siouxsie and the Banshees when they were in Atlanta and Budgie was recording with the Girls. Their voices and melodies with that rhythm is magical. Buy it and turn it UP.

6. Beautiful - I've been listening to this album since I was (my dad and I used to "dance" to Galileo). Rediscovered it again years ago, love everything about it. By miles it is the most played album on my computer, with Romeo and Juliet and Love Will Come To You dominating the play count. The raw passion in Romeo and Juliet (something Dire Straits version just doesn't have for me), and the quiet sorrow in Love Will Come To You blows me away everytime. A must buy for anybody.
2008-07-08
7. all-time favorite - I own hundreds of albums and over , songs across many genres. This is without a doubt the most-played album in my collection. I absolutely love every single song on this album, from the haunting beauty of "Ghost" (my vote for most beautiful song of all time), to the playfulness in "Joking" and "Airplane", to the raw emotion in their fantastic remake of the Dire Straits classic "Romeo and Juliet". And of course "Galileo". Every song on this album is better than any song on most albums. I rarely go a month without returning to this album, even after all these years and countless plays. I recently had the pleasure of seeing them play a sold-out acoustic show in Richmond, VA that was just amazing. They are an underappreciated talent, and I hope over time more people discover this hidden gem of an album.

8. Music of My Youth - Even as a very small child, my sister and I were raised on this CD. My parents love to travel and love to listen to folk music, and they have passed this love on to me. This is absolutely my favorite CD of all time. The memories I have from listening to this in my mom's Saab on the way to new places come back to me every time I listen to a track. I am performing a cover of "Galileo" for my Chorale individual recital. I am completely in love with these women and the genre they have made their own.
2008-06-06
9. // - Let It Be This One! - This is - by far - my favorite Indigo Girls collection. It's been that way almost since the day I first bought it, and it continues to be. If you were to buy only one their albums, let it be this one. (See how I cleverly worked in one of the song titles there? I'm a capital-J genius!) Highlights include "Galileo," "Ghost," "Jonas & Ezekial," and the Dire Straits cover "Romeo and Juliet." Don't let that stop you from buying the whole album, though. You won't be disappointed. Five stars for each Girl!

10. top shelf stuff - after 'indigo girls', the strongest offering of any IG disc. some songs, such as 'love will come to you', 'nashville', 'ghost', 'chickenman' and 'cedar tree' up there with anything they ever wrote. my personal fave on this record, however, is amy ray's barnburner rendition of mark knopfler's 'romeo and juliet'. loved the original, but good lord, amy toasted this one! if you love women/folk/harmonies/guitars/thoughtful lyrics kind of stuff, this one belongs on your get list.
