1. What Floor Please................... - I don't know what to call this music other than elevator music. It hardly sounds Bossa Nova or any other of the genres iTunes uses. And to use the Beatles music for such a down grade of what the Beatles were doing when they created this music. Imagine taking music that is so cool that it changed the sound of music all over the world and turning it into music I consider elevator music. An absolute disgrace!

1. Good Album - but I-Tunes loaded this album incorrectly - This is a good album celebrating bossa nova. Nicola Conte, a producer and musician out of Italy - more popular for remixes and Italian bossa (Idizioni Ishtar/Schema label), was brought in by UK's Far Out records on this one and it's the first in a series of albums for the year. This is a great album of different bossa nova. What's particularly neat about it is that the songs are more obscure than the classic better known Bossa Nova tracks that loads are accustomed to. You get some different, fantastic artists and a much different vibe feel. Exactly what you'd expect of a Conte release. Notable tracks are Claudia/Brazilian Octopus's "Gosto De Ser Como Sou" and "Canto De Ossanha". However - this isn't entirely original as it reminded me greatly of Conte's Schema label mate, Gerardo Frisina's, project with Deja-Vu records titled 'Rio Evolutions vol II", from a few years ago. Good album. BUt be forewarned that it looks like iTunes loaded this album incorrectly, and the correct songs aren't corresponding to the correct artist names.

1. Phenomenal live act!!!!!!!! Extraordinary talent!!! - These guys put on one of the most exciting live shows I have seen in a LONG time. They are SUPURB musicians who come from such different places musically but blend their genius perfectly! I bought this CD at the show. Quincy Jones produced it and has been Alfredo’s mentor for years. If you like Afro Cuban jazz, this will not disappoint!

1. The Bryd Flies High - This is such a cool album full of Antonio Jobim compositions. Accompanied by strings and brass and wood winds this is a super blend of Bryd's love of Jobim's music. Dindi is simply wonderful. Highly recommended. I have this one in vinyl too thanks to Goodwill and a perfect vinyl recording set. Sometimes you get lucky at a thrift store.

1. Mello Jello - I love the fact that Clare Fischer's music is refusing to disappear, that his many fans keep it selling and relavent, unlike composer/artists like Gary McFarland, Clare lived and produced plenty of repetoire to find constant "new" recodings. This is one. The personnel read like a "Who's Who" of Latin jazz and the selections are classic. The reason this set is so valuable is the superb engineering, precise synchonization of the band, and the wonderful tunes selected. While it over charges you for the selections @ . each, you could nto buy a better elegy to a marv elous arranger/composer/artist like Fischer. There is that classic discord he creates in almost all of his compositions that come out sounding like a "Manciniesque" tune. This is just pure non-stop Latin Big Band that is centered more on melody than rhythm as many latin albums seem to focus on. A wonderful Must Buy!

2. Holy Bach-beats and margaritas! - (See what I did there?) I am loving this new release. This version of Funquiado is my favorite cut. Clare Fischer's extended cadenza solo heads off into the stratosphere in ways that only he can pull off. Canonic Passacaglia has some of the most brilliant lines and satisfying counterpoint I've heard in a long time. Fischer's body of work continues to astound me with it's originality and fusion of disparate elements. A great genius and a true visionary.

1. Enriquecio mi alma - I too recently saw Chuchito perform near Boston. Incredible artistry and technique based on classical training mixed with all the afro-cuban rhythms. Professionally, he is a master and as a person, he is humble and friendly. I highly recommend to anyone who loves authentic music, not to miss an opportunity to see him perform.

1. One Musicians Opinion - Edwin Boniila is an example of old school salsa. No salsa romantica here. Rythmn section is tight and the horns are jamming. If you want to dane this is as good as it gets. I am a percussionist and have played with Andy Montanez, Joe Bataan, Joe Cuba and too many others to mention so I highly recommend this recording. And that's one musicians opinion.

2. Oh my God! - this cd tops all previous bonilla's records. Every single song es un palo. It also has new singers and one of them has to be without question Cheito Quinones. I though "soy la candela" cd was the best of bonilla but this one is a bomb. Bonilla sound is unique and a must have for heavy and agressive salsa lovers. I can't believe he topped himself with this cd, oh my God. Now I am waiting for Jesus "el nino"perez to come up with his own production.

1. Too little - Renato Russo was one of the most important songwriters of his time. He was a punk originally who, with Lagiao Urbana, produced a couple of the best records in Brazil’s rock history. His solo career, however, is not on par with that of his band. It’s comprise mostly of Romantic Italian and English songs reminiscent of another time that seemed to spiral down as his health condition worsened. The only notable exception is Cherish. A cover of Madonna’s hit that manages to top the original version. It’s got a nicely played acoustic guitar that keeps the rhythm giving Renato a perfect venue for his strong voice and excellent English skills to shine. Still, it’s a one song album. Too little for the man who many consider the Brazilian Morrissey.

1. Brilliant! - Afro-cuban styled jazz at its best – high in energy and rich in culture! I loved the use of a small bateria, instead of a full drum kit, which makes the sound more authentic. ESTOY COMO NUNCA is simply excellent – the big band arrangement, the horn lines and the signature / clave. I really enjoyed the piano solo in SUNFLOWERS. The vocals in SIEMPRE add romance and colour to the air. I thoroughly enjoyed ART OF THE ARRANGEMENT – fantastic music!

1. A truly great new straight ahead Jazz album - Fantastic from beginning to end! Not a bad track in the album. Not the run of the mill Latin Jazz album with endless solos and long tracks but a straight ahead Jazz album with original melodic tunes, a couple of standards, great playing and arrangements, and satisfying for any Jazz and Latin Jazz fan. Bobby Valentin I knew of as a Latin Music giant and a Fania All-Star bass and trumpet legend, but this is a great surprise what a great Jazz artist he is!

1. A Colorful and Wondrous Collection that I Highly Recommend for Any Jazz Fan - Here is a collection of fine music from an acclaimed Jazz master. Iván "Melon" Lewis grew up playing the piano. In his youth, he was captivated by Bach, Mozart, Beethoven and Debussy as well as Bill Evans, Bola de Nieve, Keith Jarrett and Ernesto Lecuona. Today his distinctive style of piano mastery is copied by younger musicians. His recent album "Ayer y Hoy", shows the versatility of his musical genius as Mr. Lewis goes from sublime to explosive. One of my favorite tracks on the album is "Ocho Para Todos", where Mr. Lewis begins his lesson with an array of notes that fill the soundscape. As they continue, his sounds meet and fit precisely into the balanced accompaniment. It's a colorful and wondrous collection that I highly recommend for any Jazz fan.

2. Who could ask for anything more! - Ah! This is a perfect melange of instrument control, rhythmic prowess and skill on an exquisite album. The title track – Ayer Y Hoy is impeccable and Latido Del Alma has some exquisite voices and vocal textures. Camino Is Sombre, Aun Me Falta and Gala Y Nena make excellent listening. All bring out moods in music so freely and with ease.
