1. Awesome! As in "filled with awe." - I first heard her version of "Joy to the World" while watching The Preacher's Wife. I immediately tracked down the soundtrack, then found this album. I am a Christmas music nerd who reveres the classics by Nat King Cole and Johnny Mathis, but I must say that Whitney Houston's version of Joy to the World and Who Would Imagine A King are the best versions I have heard - ever. You cannot hear her Joy to the World without feeling true elation, and you cannot help but feel hope while listening to Who Would Imagine a King. Truly touching! This is a must have album for Christmas and throughtout the year!

2. Agile Vocal Runs - The last album where Whitney could still sing. The audible effects of smoking/drug use could be heard during certain moments on the album (rattling inhalations, rasp/edge on certain belts, and diction issues), but Whitney's agility and phrasing remained impressive. O Come O Come Emmanuel is an album highlight and Deck the Halls / Silent Night offers a unique uptempo mashup unlikely to be heard from other artists. The First Nöel has lead single polish. Joy to the World is an earlier cut from The Preacher's Wife where Whitney's voice was healthier and more robust than during her 's output. The rest is pretty standard fare with less inspired production choices.

Great vocal scales, crummy Christmas songs - If you are looking for an album that highlights Whitney's wonderful voice, ability to sing fantastic scales, and vocal control to hit wonderful clear notes than this album might be for you. If you are looking for recognizable traditional Christmas carols, don't get this album, keep looking.

5. Christmas Sounds Majestic & Moving - Between Whitney Houston and Josh Grodan, I can't remember being so touched by the sound of music! When a singer can stir you like they do me, it is easy to get caught up with their divine talents! I've enjoyed both of them for years. When she was just a toddler, my now -year-old stopped playing when she first heard Whitney and asked, "Who is that, Mama? An angel?". Both performers have been a blessing! Yes, I had to go on get the holiday ringtone from Ms. Houston!

1. Amazing! - Perhaps ONLY Leslie Odom should sing Christmas music from now on? His ethereal voice is perfect for both the traditional and the new songs that he includes on this album. I love the duet with Cynthia Erivo on “Winter Song,” which is a beautiful song that I loved from his last album. Do yourself a favor and grab this album— make a bit better for yourself!

1. Way To Ruin A Perfectly Good Classic - A holiday classic totally ruined by two otherwise talented and popular singers. It’s utterly disgraceful. Dean Martin has been severely offended by this godawful rendition. You are a woke citizen for liking this rendition better than the original one written decades ago. When this cover was released in ‘, an FM radio station based in New York City was so infuriated, that they played the original Dean Martin song from ‘ for hours straight without any commercial breaks at all!! That’s the New York City we love! That’s the America we love!! You’re wasting you’re money and you’re life listening to this twisted rendition.

2. Ignore the petty star reviews - Sadly, the rating for this album has been falsely lowered by petty people trying to make a political statement. Fine, you don’t agree with one song rendition. The rest of the album is performed tastefully and with absolute skill and grace. Listen for yourselves. It’s a beautiful album.

3. Wrap me up in your lovely voice! - I don’t care for Christmas and a lot of the current or old songs out there are simply lacking flavor. I could listen to John legend’s smooth voice all day. The complaints seem to be from a bunch of snowflakes that don’t care for Mr. Legend’s political views.

4. Love it! - All those giving star, need to get over themselves and stop reading into everything. Stop being marshmallows and realize that things from the past are not meant the way your reading into them. This album is great and John has done a amazing job. 5. There r bigger things to worry about - Stop attributing today’s language to a song written decades ago. Changing the words to politically correct terminology doesn’t cut it, I felt I was being lectured...so I deleted it & just listen to every other artist who sings it without a problem. The girl in the song has always sounded most concerned about what people might think more than what is actually happening in the room with the guy. No big deal here! Leave it alone or just don’t sing it.

6. People need to chill- it’s the holidays... - It’s curious that people are so offended by the revised lyrics of a song. A song people. John has some great versions of holiday music on here. I am skeptical that these one star reviews actually listened this album. I for one thought the changes were clever.

Gave it one star because no option for zero - Just didn’t feel like a genuine Christmas album especially with the horrible version of a iconic Christmas classic such as Baby it’s cold outside which he and Kelly Clarkson botched horribly with their remake not to mention it’s sounds like the dude in the song really doesn’t like the girl and is trying to rush her home. Y’all definitely shouldn’t waste your money or streams on the album.

1. A Must Have for Xmas Music Lovers!! - This is the one album people need to have for their collection. The brilliantly talented Mr. Vandross went all out on what clearly is his favorite holiday as well as mine. The genius of collaborating on the song "I Listen To The Bells" with Ms. Darlene Love, (In my opinion a Christmas Music Legend and Legend in general) really shows how well versed he was in Christmas music. Best of all, out of the songs are originals written by Mr. Vandross himself. I love Christmas music but I especially love original Christmas songs. Let's face it, to me, there is only so many ways to sing "Jingle Bell Rock" and "Sleigh Ride". This album is a must have for Christmas Music Lovers. Mr. Vandross is a genius who left us too soon.

2. Luther Fan - I discovered this album three years ago and totally love it, it's become one of my favorite Christmas albums ever. Luther has been my favorite R&B male singer for the past years, I first heard him sing "Superstar" when I was years old while watching a HBO special of great young singers back in the early eighties and I was amazed by his voice/talent. He was a real singer with mad skills and there will never be another quite like him. So glad I found this album, it's AWESOME!!!

3. This Is Christmas - Since I found this CD about ten years ago it has become a mainstay at our house at Christmas time. It just wouldn't be Christmas without it. Luther's choice of original songs and masterful arrangements have a way of turning 'original' songs into 'standards' - like The Mistletoe Jam, and Every Year, Every Christmas, and ... ahhh nevermind, you get the idea. This whole album is just off the chain. My family and I simply love, love, love it! Vintage Luffa'.

1. Love her but… - This songs like she singing in an unnatural high pitch. Every song. All her previous stuff is great but this thing here… I listen to the samples multiple times, switched headphone, put it through two separate sets of speakers because I swore I thought my headphones suddenly became defective. I put on some oft her music and the headphones were fine. This thing is tingy. It sounds like a poor falsetto. It has to be an engineering thing or iTunes got a bad audio file. It sounds as if she is singing in a vacuum, off of a paper, reading the lyrics for the first time and trying to make it epic and it was all done on the mic check take. And it sounds as if the music was added in post.

3. Endorsed Kathy Hochul - I was about ready to purchase the album when I saw she endorsed Kathy Hochul. Alicia doesn’t have to ride the subway in fear or walk around the city worrying about being robbed, attacked or even worse. I am sure financially she is doing well versus most of us in the city. I hate bringing up politics but endorsing someone who wondered why her opponent is so concerned about crime and just endorses her because she is a democrat all the while not doing her research is very disappointing.

5. Santa Baby - Hate Alicia Keys version. Way too slow. It was made to be a happy, exciting song telling her boyfriend this is what he better do in a happy, funny, adorable way and singing it slow like that just takes that playfulness away. I would love if you would play another version of it, somebody else singing it
