1. Return to “American Beauty/American Pshyco” Vibes? - Listening to the new singles right now, the songs remind me of “American Beauty/American Psycho”. So, they are reverting back sound wise. Im not saying that it’s a bad thing tho. “MANIA” was great. So was “American Beauty/American Psycho”. I have a feeling they are gonna eventually return back to their “Take This To Your Grave” sound when they finish being a band. Thats what it is sounding like right now.

2. THEY’RE BACK!!! - i was such a big fan of mania (and all their other albums) that i was waiting not-so patiently for a new album rollout and WOW did they deliver! this song has been on repeat since the moment it dropped and i cannot stop singing it to myself. what a great band and an amazing song, cant wait for the full album to drop

1. Mixed feelings - "Ghosts Again" is great and got me excited for the new album. Unfortunately the second release, "My Cosmos Is Mine," is not nearly as good and has blunted my enthusiasm. The review by seatiki offers some critical thoughts that I agree with completely. Will come back to sample the rest of the tracks, but I am far from confident that DM will return to their better sound.

2. My Cosmos is Mine - It hisses and drops, then bumps and also has elements that sound like a scratched record coupled with words spoken backwards. The
song grows on you hypnotically, seems to be pushing a message of us being masters of our own domain, to not allow others to interfere. It’s all positive but so much like a mantra we all need in our lives. I love the song, Dave’s voice is as powerful as ever. Martin is in the background vocals as is often the case. It grew on me and that’s a sign of something presented in a slightly new way. It is very reminiscent of their style but somehow the combination is freshened a bit. Once again, love this song. I’m pleased they chose this as the introduction to the album.

3. So far so good… - Been listening to Depeche Mode for decades. I can say that I’m repeatedly disappointed on each initial listen of their new albums… year after year, decade after decade. But then I listen again and hear something new. And then I listen again and hear something new… and so on. I ultimately love that to which I initially gave a “meh” response. And—to me—that’s Depeche Mode. I give each album an “okay, there are a few songs here that I like…” response, but upon repeated listens eventually acknowledge, “this is downright brilliant and I want to share it with others” with evangelistic enthusiasm.

4. Very Depeche Mode - First single Ghosts Again is pure classic DM. I’m ready to put on my black T shirt, faded jeans, Doc Martins and leather motorcycle jacket. I’m the past few albums, DM had become musically boring and dark with no melody. I’m hoping this album brings more electronic instrumentation and melody. Dave’s voice really shines when he has melodies.

1. Imagine dragons is the best ever - Hello imagine dragons has been with me and in my family ever since I turned it was then everyone started to love it my mother father my whole family this album is special to me and many others so for all the five star people I’m proud for all the one star people all I have to say is look at all the five stars compared to you guys so if your going to say something that would make imagine dragons disband just Don’t. Stay rocking
2022-11-25
2. Love. It! - This album is really good. So far, I think that my favorites are “Rise Up”, and “I Don’t Know Why”. These songs are really good and I think you guys should make more songs like this. Thank you Dan Reynolds and Imagine Dragons. Keep it up guys! I comment stars cause these songs (what I think, its just an opinion) are the best! Keep up the good work! If anybody does, don’t make a bad comment. These are the best. Like I said... Keep up the good work!

3. Dear Dan Reynolds, - Hey, I am sorry you have been suffering a depression, those songs came from the heart and I like every single one, I could listen to this / . I don’t know why everyone hates you and this album, pepole bully me too. You have to do what ever it takes and break the chains. You can be as loud as thunder. And even if they made you a believer, you can start over before the mouth of the river swallows you up, and you can walk the wires without getting shocked. I love your music, keep being amazing, and don’t let hatred let you down. Thank you! Without those lyrics, I would have been giving up in school by now. Thank you Dan!
2022-07-22
4. - With Dan Reynolds’s limited vocals, it gets pretty annoying, and that isn’t really helping the factthat pretty much every song is overplayed, especially Believer and Whatever it Takes. They also have changed a lot over time and it’s sad to see there “hard work” go down the drain. There old songs were way better!
2022-05-10
5. Imagine dragon these - nuts across your face. The American nickelback does it again with tons of songs that sound the same. I wish there was a way to give this zero stars. Dan Reynolds provides his limited vocal range to an accompaniment of basic scales with root notes and sometimes th. The lyrics are so bad and about as generic as Walmart. I can’t wait to hear these songs played over and over , on television commercials.

1. An agreeable thing - This is the only big name band that I paid a lot of money to see them perform in Seattle and this is how it happened: I had heard that Dave Gahan had overdosed on drugs. Back then I wrongly thought this always meant death either on the way to the hospital or after arriving in the emergency room. Later I hear Precious and my reaction was, "Wow! This sounds like a really good new Depeche Mode song but I know it can't be since Dave Gahan died of a drug overdose so this must be a Depeche Mode imitator or Depeche Mode got a replacement singer that sounds a lot like Dave Gahan. Or, this is an outtake/reject from older albums and I wonder if the rest of the outtake album is as good as this song." Then I figure out/learn the truth. So, now I know that OD does not automatically mean death right afterwards. I saw them perform just for this song, Precious, alone but they have other likeable songs on that same album. I have seen other bands perform that had singles played on top radio but it would have been at Bumpershoot type shows back when tickets were only $ per person or some similar low price or before they hit mainstream music consciousness. I did buy a Coldplay ticket but sold it to someone on Craigslist. I ended up seeing them on PBS so now I can say I am glad I sold my ticket.

2. Ga-ha-ha-haaaan! - Way back when Gahan, Gore, Fletcher, Wilder and Clarke popped out of the womb I was Depeche Mode's first and foremost biggest fan. I had eaten a lot and people didn't really care if you had a few extra pounds then. But I could see that glimmer in their baby eyes that they would go on to produce music I would take to my grave and would take a mountain of Bruce Lee's to pry my own powerful magic tiger death grip from. So much for the beginning. So here we are now. The band split, at least that's how I felt when Wilder left, and things have changed a lot. We have quite a bit of catalogue or so it seems depending on your perspective. If you're one of those guys who like things strictly by the album version then you are really only looking at what, records tops? If you're one of those freaks who think one more added beat to one slight phrase in any of their songs constitutes a new song then stop what you're doing and start working on the largest music catalogue known to man. I'm not that former guy. I LOVE the originals. I'm not saying the remixes are bad in any way. I'm particularly fond of the 'Enya' mix of 'Sea of Sin', but I'll take a live version of any of their songs over some lengthy remix any day. I don't like extra repetitions of a chord, verse, chorus or any overdubbing by the latest 'hip' whoever that isn't one of the original band members. Maybe if Vince Clarke did a remix I'd give it a listen, otherwise keep YOUR GRUBBY REMIXING PAWS OFF MY MODE!!!!! So why am I here? One reason alone: 'Enjoy the Silence'. Like any longtime fan I have all this stuff aside from new remixes but what I don't have and have always wanted was a slim version of Enjoy the Silence. Yeah, I get the 'crucified' bit is artsy and whatnot, but when it gets to that point the real song is over (in my opinion) and we're just hearing transition. Good for full album listening but when I've got a single in a mix on my iPod I don't want the extra : seconds or so eating my time. I can get to the grocery store, drop off the dry cleaning, get the car washed, get in a quick workout and have time for lunch with that extra minute plus. Well, maybe not, but you get the idea. I've lived with the minute version for half a life time but the future is here today. A car flew by my window! Mind you, I live near a race track and things get hairy. Anyway, got the track, I'm a happy boy, thanks DM's record company (because anyone with brains knows DM had little or nothing to do with this milking of DM fan dollars). So, to the complainers here's a clue, blue. Get your tail to the local library, pick up a copy of any Depeche Mode you can grab, burn it to your system and you'll have all this stuff for free. "Catching up with" "Black Celebration" "Music for the Masses" and "Violator" will get you quite a bit of mileage. The singles sets aren't bad either. You won't get EVERYTHING that way but you'll have plenty enough. After you rip them off wholesale do the band a favor and spend a buck for a single here and there on iTunes. They've definitely earned it.

3. Best of Album - For all you idiots who are complaining about certain songs you wanted on there but are not. Did you not see the vol. at the end of the title of the album. There is still a lot of songs to cover, there is still some unfinished business. Alan Wilder and Vince Clarke are making a few remixes for there old band. That album will soon be released early in .
2010-12-11
4. What a waste - Who is going to buy this? Anyone who would want it probably has these songs. This is trying to reach out to potential fans born after some of their greatest albums were release. And why did they not include any tracks from Black Celebration? (But Not Tonight, New Dress, Black Celebration, Question of Time, Somebody)???? Totally unacceptable, especially for a volume .
2007-05-05
5. Adding a few massively overproduced singles does not a "Best of" disc make... - However subjective, this really is an odd assemblage of "best of" Depeche Mode songs to begin with. The inclusion of the "apply every possible audio filter at once" singles - destroying nearly perfect original song arrangements - shave off another star. Maybe I should have held out for the [EXPLICIT] version of this disc. ;-)

6. fyi: the CD/DVD is a better deal for $ - Today I bought the CD for $ because it included a DVD with EVERY DM video produced plus a minute movie with interviews of everyone ever associated with the band (even Vince and Wilder). The music is worth it regardless, but personally I think the videos are a better deal than remixes. Now I have k versions of the songs and all the videos on my iPod. Not too shabby.

7. Depeche Mode is the standard for others to follow. - At first, I planned not to buy this album because I was really bummed that Black Celebration, namely Stripped, wasn't going to be on it. I changed my mind when I heard Martyr. Depeche is completely individual. They do what inspires them and motivates them. These releases do not come from the band; they come from the record label. It's not about money with this band; it never was. They are not an 's band that is trying to scrape together a few hits so they can tour on their past. They are a band that has revolutionized the music industry and a band that has pioneered the electropop/synth movement. It is too bad they are not yet inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame; but that is just another testament to their individuality. They do not need recognition from the mainstream to succeed. They have gotten along just fine without it. This album is a recognition of their greatness for over years. Why not enjoy it, instead of complaining about remixes?

8. This is for the Casual Fan... - who may like some DM here and there, but don't go out and buy every album. And not a single soul will be happy with the tracks that are picked. Of course Best Ofs are for money making. Its the holiday season! How many times are they going to repackage Moby or New Order hits? its called the music BUSINESS. lighten up a bit
2006-11-25
9. The music speaks (and spells) for itself - I don't know why all these reviewers are giving low ratings based on the fact that these songs have mostly been released already. All that matters is the MUSIC, which is Star. YES, the serious fans like myself have heard all this before, but that doesn't mean you give it low ratings. GEESH. Repackaging is a way to reach new fans so I have no problem with the fact that it will turn on more people to the wonder that is DM.
2006-11-20
10. Was this really nessicary? - As a single disc intro to Depeche Mode for those not familiar, this album works fine, although the collection (and the public) would have been better served by replacing the added remixes with more familiar tracks...like "Policy of Truth", "Love In Itself", "Behind the Wheel", "Blasphemous Rumours", or "Stripped" or (insert another title here)...or maybe some other new tracks? A curious music fan is FAR better served by "The Singles" collections - " " and the double disc " ". Sure, it doesn't cover the "Exciter" or "Playing the Angel" eras (which "Best of" does), but still serves as a more complete collection of hits. Still...alternative/electronic/nuwave music gets no better than this. And the new single is classic DM. This is a good intro for the uninitiated. Those in-the-know should just get the one track.

11. Good For DM new comers...but for hardcore DM fans... - This CD compliation of "The Best Of Depeche Mode' would be great for those who didn't know what great songs Depeche Mode as had in their years of music making. However for hardcore DM fans tow great songs "Blashemous Rumors" and "Policy Of Truth' are not included in this set. (Could there be a Volume Two in the works ??). Advice for new DM fans, check out "The Singles ", and "The Singles " for the rest of the best.
2006-11-15
12. Black Celebration period? - I'll give this album four stars simply because its a Depeche Mode album. However, this compilation conveniently skips over the "Black Celebration" album and contains too much "Personal Jesus." The rest of the album does a decent job of summing up DM's best work. If you own DM's entire catalog, just purchase "Martyr" and move on.
2006-11-14
13. Nothing from Black Celebration here? - After years I'll be the first to scream that DM should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. But seeing the first "Best Of" Collection I am somewhat surprised at the track selection. For any of us who were over the age of when Black Celebration came out, was it not the most seminal record of the decade? I expect to see more "Best Of" collections in the new year, and hopefully each one has a new single. "Martyr" here is a welcome addition, and the superbly-edited nostalgic video reminds me all over again why I love these guys so much. Enjoy the music!
2006-11-14
14. Same old stuff. - Don't get me wrong this is filled with great songs from Depeche Mode's entire career, all classics. Being a long time fan this offers nothing I already have in my collection, A great way for new fans to jump on the bandwagon though.Typical iTunes the remixes at the end, I would purchase are album only, for shame.

1. It’s fantastic - I don’t get how you can rate an album based off a couple of singles. Also why people expect more emo style music when paramore hasn’t released emo music in like a decade…keep living in the past folks. This album has it all and is so well done. I appreciate each song and love how they tie into each other. Lyrically phenomenal.

2. Refreshing and Heartbreaking - This band never fails to keep moving forward, and under their own terms. This feels like their most mature and honest album yet. With a few songs that keep it sincere with a fun, groovy beat, and several with a sound that easily could fit with their early career, this album drags you through a journey that is relatable and speaks to the unspoken truths of our hearts. A beautiful time for this to be released - bravo to the band!

3. I discovered paramore - Paramore's alt-rock is so diverse and far better than the still gr RIOT days. Every band member is hugely talented. Especially the drummer. Srsly listen to this guy. What other rock band of today has a guy who writes like slapping drum patterns per song? And they aren’t just standard either, they are works of art. The guitarist clearly writes what he wants, and the singer is the spicy touch the slapping rock needs. This is Why: This album begins with a bang. It's not just pure grinding guitar, but funky, introspective, unsettling bass work that perfectly compliments Hayley's sharp vocals. That intro just pushes all my buttons. The news: classic paramore is back and better. Negative and cliche lyrics, but the composition is next level. The guitar first sounds repetitive, but it’s timed with the crazy drumming so that u can’t keep up with its hypnotic, yet offbeat roller coaster. Running out of time: so catchy, so relatable, so funny (‘there was a fire!’), and again, feels classic. C’est comme ca: catchy and fun, but repetitive, noisy and boring. Sounds like a RIOT side B. Big Man, Little dignity: the worst track. Beautiful soft rock ambience but the lyrics don’t work. I can’t even remember how this goes. A smart experiment that became an unfortunate failure. You First: THIS. This is some serious rock musicianship. At first I thought ‘well this is desperate’, but if you rly listen it’s done well. Self-aware lyrics, a great beat, and a bending but catchy melody. Figure : After more than a decade, this is classic paramore perfectly reborn. The second chord in the chorus cuts so deep. A great punk tower is built over an intro melody that sounds like a toy. So snarky. Liar: probably the simplest song in the record, and yet it brings to mind Fleetwood Mac, which is always a good thing. Crave: cute, but lazy. Could’ve been a hit with some more work. Thick skull: Great, but not a finale. Ofc the build was amazing, the guitar work was spot on, the vocals were edgy, but it just sounded too different to end this particular album. This one felt like it coming to a slightly more positive conclusion, and it felt empty to end it back in the mud. But don’t skip it, it is a masterpiece in its own right. I think a band that never changes is a bad band. Paramore is always killing it by reinventing themsleves around the imagination of Hayley and her crazy guitar-playing friends.

4. Idol - Listen…I used to idolize Paramore.
I was in a Pop-Punk band for . years to try to make something as magical as what paramore was pumping out.
Riot! and Brand New Eyes (which I stole posters for at Warped Tour) were massive inspirations to my years of musical career… Self-Titled satisfied my every need for new paramore content…
Hard Times was alright…more than half of the album was good enough to keep me going… Then came this garbage.
What is this?
A haphazard means to an end? I haven’t a clue what I’m listening to. The music videos read as my precious Hayley, Zach, and Taylor…
But the sound…horrible. Terrible. NOT reflective of the musicianship that I’ve known for years and years…
I’m disappointed, appalled, and dissatisfied.
I’m sorry, but until I hear otherwise…Paramore is dead.

5. Amazing ! - The anticipation for this album definitely held up to the expectations I’ve had for paramore! love how this band chooses to grow into their music arguably only to shape themselves into a new form. It’s art you shouldn’t be held back, when it comes to writing an album that gives you comfort.
2023-02-17
6. Better than I anticipated! - I loved the first few songs, and I’m still getting used to the album, but every song is quite good. There’s maybe one skip, but every once in a while I’ll play it. The naysayers will always be here, but I’m glad you’re back, and I can’t wait to hear more music!
2023-02-16
7. love more paramore - It’s not “boring” (as described by other reviewers) to me... it’s RELAXING soft rock, even lounge-y. It has an experimental, artsy alternative sound with jazz/lounge elements alot like the band Metric... but I'd say Paramore is more pop and that's fine! I love when a band is versatile- it usually means they're more interesting. The title track This is Why is the perfect blend of soft rock & pop, w/the low key verses punctuated by the pop rock chorus. It's low key FUN but some people are too shallow to appreciate the vibe and message. Also I love the lyrics. The News sounds very much like the classic Paramore of and , except with now with modern flourishes that give it a sharp edge- not to mention a dynamic melody and atmosphere. Running Out of Time is right up there with The News w/it’s melody, atmosphere & lyrics- SO GOOD. My other essential track is Crave. It’s very lovely. I like the album as an addition to their discography. it's short and sweet.

8. I'm finally along for the ride - I'd always heard about Paramore, but I could never hear anything worthwhile in what they were doing. The Blink- pop-punk sound was a cancer on rock that basically killed the genre. All these years later, however, the band has finally put out an album that sounds great to me. They seem to have grown beyond the fake-rock of their early years that their fanbase seems to adore. This has drive and power (not just a quieter album like singer Hayley has done recently or the prior Paramore album that tried to rip off the fake alt-reggae of Vampire Weekend), but it's got a maturity to it. I'm on board. For every review that says, "Oh, they've changed, so I don't like them anymore," it was one more reason to check it out. And I'm glad I did.
2023-02-14
9. Paramore has evolved! - People complaining that “this isn’t Paramore” are just the worst. As if they know who they are as individuals and what type of art they want to make as year olds. This is just beautiful music that has evolved over the past years. Paramore makes music for their own souls. Not for your whiny self who can’t accept change.
2023-02-14
10. Trash - This entire album seems as if the band sat down and explored, “what seconds clips would make good TikTok audio?” And then built full songs around those. This is not Paramore, this is not “going back to their roots.” Instrumentally this entire album is lacking heavily and when it comes to vocals and lyrics? It’s even worse. Not sure if age/a life of being in the light is taking its toll, if the passion is just lost, or if Haley confused her side projects with what Paramore actually is, but this compared to ALL of their past work is just a big dumpster fire and complete trash.
2023-02-14
11. incredible growth - the way you can hear each of the band members influences on each and every song is so beautiful. this record has been on repeat, truly enjoying it! love the way their sound evolves with every album, they will never make music like they did when they were teenagers and once everyone realizes that they’ll find the beauty
2023-02-13
12. Wow. - Wow! This album is a love letter to paramore, paying homage to previous eras, while also sounding brand new and like nothing we’ve heard before. The song writing is impeccable. The production and instrumentation, outstanding. This is also a love letter to fans. I love the community they continue to build. I never thought I’d see the day paramore one upped after laughter. They continue to amaze me. To everyone who rated this album poorly after just hearing one track, you’re lame. To those who got this false idea in their heads that Hayley left the band to try solo music and “that didn’t work out,” you’re also lame!
2023-02-12
13. Paramore has evolved beautifully !!! - Now I’m going into this album thinking it may be lackluster for lack of a better word based off of the three singles they released before the album dropped. Don’t get me wrong I liked the songs but they were not instant favorites. Now that I got to listen to the entire album. I love the songs that are on it ! And I do think that ‘This is Why, The News and C’est Comme Ça’ fit perfectly when listened to with songs like Big Man, Little Dignity and Figure . A nice blend of faster paced songs and slower paced songs. I have listened to Paramore for a while and this album is everything I could wish for in a Paramore album. Fits perfectly in the ever evolving band that is Paramore. An easy out of
2023-02-12
14. Snooze Fest! - So I heard the title track a few months ago. It has grown on me a bit. Was looking forward to the rest of the album. While I am glad to see Hayley back with her band. This sounds like an extension of her dismal solo project. There just aren't many good songs on this. of the songs that stood out were Big Man, Little Dignity and Thick Skulls which has some nice instrumentals. For that I will give it stars. But overall it was boring. I felt like I was at a coffee house open mic night where a new artist is testing out material. Let me say the majority of these songs aren't ready for prime time and neither will you hear them at the concert. This is just an album release so they could hit the road again to appease the fans.

1. Magic from ATL - The boys did it again, but in a completely different way. The most impactful album yet, while also being the most “stripped down” album to date. Every song is heavy and impactful, meaningful and graceful. If you get the chance, watch the short film they made for this album. It’s a solid watch and a very unique way to “see” to the songs. MO, thank you for this one.

2. Another Wonderful Album by Manchester Orchestra!! - I’ve been a huge fan of MO since MySpace days, so I’m very excited to hear this new album. I cannot describe how good their first single, Capital Karma, is! Aside from the music they compose being nothing less than beautiful, their lyrics always draw you in and take you to a different place. Their lyricism is simply genius and I sincerely hope they continue making music for a very long time to come!

1. Not Quite the Best Of - This collection has a lot of the best songs by the Talking Heads and you won’t go wrong buying it ... but it’s missing some key songs for a Best Of collection and it includes some odd choices. For example, it includes Found A Job, a good song, but neglects to include an even better song from the same album ... Thanks For Sensing Me An Angel. It includes Houses In Motion but not Cross-eyed and Painless ... a much better, more important and well-know Heads song. Same for Blind ... when from the same album there’s Totally Nude. And where is Making Flippy Floppy? Almost any and every song from the Stop Making Sense concert film should be included in a Best Of collection. This collection tends to give space to radio hits like And She Was and Wild Wild Life and Road to Nowhere while edging out some fantastic songs that could and should easily show up on a Best of collection: Cities, Paper, Pulled Up and The Facts of Life. All in all a perfectly okay Best Of, but not a true best of. Certainly not when it’s missing Making Flippy Floppy and Cross-eyed and Painless.

2. Yes I'm - I love the talking heads I grew up listening to it because my dad love them I will never ever get tired of her songs no matter what even if I listen to them for a whole month nonstop I will never get tired of them you should get this album because well why not you're the one of the best music bands ever or at least in my opinion and I'm I'm millennial and I still love this classic band. They're funny witty and and all the songs always have some little bit of a comedy to him

3. Won't download.. This is becoming too common - I purchased Talking Heads version of, "Take Me to the River," and Apple iTunes took me to the cleaners. Money gone - no song. When I attempted to download it again, it indicated that I had PURCHASED the song, but any attempt to download "my song," was replaced by a -minute playback. The progress wheel indicated that it had completed downloading, yet It exists nowhere. Like many die-hard Apple fans, I am growing disappointed in Apple's quality control as of late. Unlike many die-hard Apple fans, I have made a career in selling and servicing millions of dollars in Apple hardware and software to Fortune entertainment companies and other equally profitable businesses. I am remain a figurehead in my line of work likely because I refuse to be an apologist for Apple, or any other company when they continually drop the ball on creating hardware and software which fails to live up to Apple's formerly stringent standards in quality control. Unlike the "Apple Genius," my job is to provide, set up and train companies with the best available professional computer hardware and software. I do not sell Apple products, services and especially Apple software, based on a storied history of bygone days of the best products. Greatly diminished quality control is Apple's biggest Achille's heel. How's the stock doing?

4. Disappointed - I have the original vinyls of every single tune on this collection and this online version does not represent the freshness and vitality of the originals at all. I bought it online because I have trouble playing vinyl in my rickety house. My low rating is for the online version if this - NOT the originals!
2016-01-30
5. Good But Missing Some Hits - This is a good summary of Talking Heads.
However, it is missing a few songs that you may still want to take a listen. For example, “Pulled Up” on is a hit that garnished much air time in the late seventies into the early eighties. Get this, but then look at the other albums for the other popular missing tracks to fill in for those that were left out.

6. Fun - Garrisonneal is stupid. The Talking heads used synthesizers as well as stinged instruments and drums. At some shows they had chorus lines. They were showmen, party animals, and embracers of an alternate lifestyle of the time. In short, they were fun where others failed and made 'repetitive' music (hair bands/pop).

7. stars for Talking Heads, but this is kind of pointless - You don't have to get this, even if you're not into talking Heads yet.
Just buy Stop Making Sense (half the tracks are already on here) Remain in Light (their best) and Fear of Music (their darkest)
but I did buy 'And She Was' which is my favorite song by them, off of this
One of my top bands ever :)

8. Actually, a really decent intro to Talking Heads - Obviously, long-time fans of the band aren't going to need this best-of set, but for newbies, this is actually a pretty decent compilation to get them interested. You could, of course, complain about various tracks that "should" be on here, but if you're not familiar with the Talking Heads, this will give you a pretty good crash course in all their various eras. You'll likely want more, so just start grabbing the actual albums as you go along.

9. I like it! - I found The Talking Heads when I was looking at reviews for Punk Goes Classic Rock. That person said that they that wasn't punk, punk was people like The Sex Pistols, The Clash, The Suicide Commandos, and this. I was skeptical, because I'd already been disappointed by The Sex Pistols and The Suicide Commandos, but then my dad said that he liked this, so I tried it out, and this is amazing. It's not what I'd call punk, I still like All Time Low and all that stuff, but this is really good.

10. Best of Class for Geek Albums - I forgot how much of a fan I was of Talking Heads until I started listening to the sample tracks in iTunes. I immediatly starting connecting the songs with many aspects of my geeky life and history with pop culture and computers. I immediatly opened a new TextEdit file and started listing as many geeky things about the band as possible (Burning Down The House was the soundtrack when the Alphas actually burned down their house in the movie 'Revenge of the Nerds'; or that the Pixies' song 'Dig for Fire' [another geek favorite] was a tribute to Talking Heads). This band is great for many reasons but I think all of the 'geeks' out there will especially like the edgy synth-pop-punk stylings that made Talking Heads one of the greatest bands of all time.

11. changed my life - Talking Heads changed my life and totally opened up my mind, with other cool bands from nyc,and reggae/ska/punk world. The songs are as pertinent and deeply thought provoking to me today-why,where,who,and how do we all fit in, or exist on this planet? Who knows but I am downloading this as a car cruiser add-on to accent my full collection on vinyl I have of the band. I am glad I went down a completely different path from listening to excellent music like this..COOOOOOOOOOOOOOL stuff. Recommend buying all the separate albums as well all great!

12. Talking Heads are Awesome, but so is disco/dance music... - With out a doubt, this album by the Talking Heads is fantastic to listen to, and yes, it does sound very new and fresh even for today's standards, but must you put down other genres of music in order to get your points across. Gentlemen, despite your opinions on disco, it was extremely popular and very profitable for many record companies and artists back in the day; and, despite your comment about it being dead or gone, you both would be incorrect on that fact. Disco lives on in what we call today, dance/club music, and people still go to the clubs ("discos") to dance to club music. So, kuddos to the Talking Heads for making great music to listen to and sing along with, and kuddos to dance music!

13. mediocre choices - Talking Heads are a tough band for a single-disc hits compilation. They made four basically co-equal albums of very even material (w/ barely any real hits) and then fell off precipitously. Remain In Light is probably their best album; get that and/or any of the other three (, ...Buildings & Food, Fear Of Music) and you will have a lot more than what they are giving you here. Also, it must be said that the cover art is a really weak rip of Some Girls. ATCQ did this with humor and purpose, but here it's just some lazy designer collecting a paycheck... an attitude that perfectly sums up the T-Heads from about onward.

14. Good Mix of the Old & New Hits - While this a decent collection of songs, fans that discovered The Heads thru the excellent Jonathan Demme film "Stop Making Sense" might be disapointed by some of the versions of songs on this album, especially "Heaven" and "This Must be the Place", which are radically different. Actually I think the Itunes ultimate edition of the "Stop Making Sense" soundtrack is a superior "greatest hits" collection of their early work, as well as being five bucks cheaper. However, if you want their later hits, this is a good way to go.

1. A Well Deserved Stars! - The album Violator is a sensational masterpiece that also manages to withstand the test of time. The beautifully haunting melodies combined with the dark and mysterious songwriting makes it an unforgettable record of the ’s. The evolution of Depeche Mode is incredible, and for me Violator is the pinnacle of their work.

2. iTunes Editor's Notes - The album? A out of . DM is greatest. band. ever. But really? I just wanted to tell you to read the iTunes Editor's Note. I'm on the floor! Freaking hilarious!!! Either my guy BFF wrote that or I have a male twin in an alternate universe. ....Or? DM addicts all are the same. Here it is mid- and I'm ready to call Dave and Martin up and tell them to get off their swank couches in NY and LA and go make MORE MUSIC!!! (Yep. Saw them in what. ? But NOTHING beats Violator.....) XOXOXO

3. 's/'s gap bridged seamlessly via "Violator" - DM has its third consecutive uber-album in "Violator". No filler songs - just one outstanding tune after another. Their greatest leap in terms of both technological and lyrical achievement, and one of the greatest tours in music history (saw them with Nitzer Ebb that summer in Chicago; it was a night I'll never forget). I particularly like the rhapsodic "Clean" and portentous "Policy of Truth". Also love the addition of "Dangerous" and the stomping instrumental "Kaleid" to the re-master. By the way, pleeeeeease do not plug this one into your car's USB port. Enjoy it at home with absolutely no background noise...and CRANKED.

4. Earning the "Halo" - Violator is one of three albums (Black Celebration & Music for the Masses are the others) where Depeche Mode was at the peak of its creative power. Alan Wilder's arrangements give perfect form to Martin's songs and Dave's singing. "Halo" and "World in my Eyes" are real standouts. Really this is the final 'classic' DM album: Not too much guitar, and the "Sweetest Perfection" of Alan Wilder's talents. DM. Is a classic band that almost single handedly created electronic music as a genre. Violator is a landmark album.

5. This is a STEAL for $. - Violator is great CD by itself. Now that it has bonus tracks like Dangerous, Happiest Girl, and Sea of Sin, it's a MUST BUY! Even if you're only a passing DM fan, it's a must own! Hint...put on some headphones, turn out the lights, close your eyes, and play Waiting for the Night...Brilliant!

6. One of my top albums. - This album is brilliant. Depeche Mode is seen, or rather heard, at their best in this album. Every song is a pleasure for me to listen to and I don't dislike any of the songs on this album (which is rare for me). Overall, one of my favorite albums ever and my favorite song from it at the moment is Waiting for the Night, but it changes all of the time.

7. how can you miss?! - Not a bad song on the CD, all different, and all unique. I love DM, they were fresh and clean in the 's and the music holds up fantasically over time. You would be hard pressed to find a better synth group now. Violator on many lists of CDs you should have to make a real music lovers collection.
2011-06-29
8. sweetest perfection - I had forgotten how great this album is, but it's virtually perfect from start to finish. One of those rare albums where EVERY song is great. Regardless of how you feel about synth-pop, club music or depeche mode in general, these are just incredibly well-written, catchy, melodic and intensely moving songs. You can't help but move when you hear these and they still hold up years later. Solid, strong, awesome - You can't go wrong with this album!

1. Not as good as don’t smile at me - This album is pretty good, not as good as her first but still pretty good. I really like bad guy and you should see me in a crown . See me in a crown is straight girl boss vibes. Billie has a unique voice and sings about some things that might make other singers uncomfortable to sing about like suicidal thoughts and having friends who drink and smoke. Overall Billie is inspiring for people who make different music that they don’t think will be popular I also saw a review that said she is ugly. They probably look like a sewer rat in sweat pants
2023-03-15
2. Billie your music is amazing just the way it is - Hello, I’m also a big fan ! I absolutely love your music. (I’m ) I’ve been listening to your music for years now. Don’t listen to the hate comments; I know (but not the way you do) that it’s easy to let it bring you down but just remember that you have so many more people supporting you than the people who aren’t. And I just want to tell you (although just me alone likely doesn’t make a difference and you probably won’t even read this) don’t change your beautiful self and who you are as a person or your music for others. Don’t morph your music into something different that other people who don’t enjoy it would like. Your music is BEAUTIFUL (and so many other amazing words I can’t even name right now) JUST the way it IS, because you and Finneas are a super talented sibling duo. He is an extremely gifted writer and singer and you are an amazing singer/songwriter. You two are perfect for each other. And can I just say; when the two of you are together, you guys have a magical connection that no other siblings have. Btw I love his background vocals so so much they go perfectly with your vocals and your voice. He also has kind of the same softness in his tone as you do. It is so beautiful. You two are so talented together as artists. I know (again, I’m definitely not trying to make any assumptions. So with all due respect.) you like to experiment with new sounds and vocals now and then for a different variety, and yeah, you do that and we’ll still love you for it. But your music all together just has this vibe I can’t describe. It’s the kind of feeling that makes me want to cry when I listen sometimes, when it really, really hits home. Then simultaneously it makes me want to laugh or even freaking shout from a roof into the sky at the top of my lungs. Whatever gorgeous feeling that is, (Just you being you; your own vibe) keep making that and creating that vibe that you’ve mostly stuck with since you started your career. Don’t change for other people that you don’t need to change for!! You actually made a song describing that — Not My Responsibility. Go check it out, people! Highly recommend. It’s pretty deep with emotion though so be prepared. But I think that was Billie’s intention. It is a very well written and sung song though! The people who don’t like your music might never like it anyways no matter what you change about it,
(People in the reviews, please don’t use that to your advantage against her…) so just don’t! Ik I’ve said that several times, but really. If they don’t like it, that’s ok; everyone has their own preferences of different styles and genres. You just keep creating those heartfelt, aggressively and passionately beautiful but edgy and also badass lyrics of yours, and whoever likes them, and however many of your fans who love you will love whatever music you debut! No matter what you decide to do in your career there will probably be a million people who will give you support. Ik that sounds dystopian if you think about it in a twisted way, (which, once again I’m not trying to say I know you, but I think you sometimes think like that bc life is cruel, which is why you occasionally bring humor to it in a good but not rude way — which I appreciate you for bc I cope with humor sometimes. ) but, that does NOT mean your fans are a ton of mindless people following you around wired to love you no matter what. PLEASE don’t think that. Well — who am I to tell you or suggest to you what to think. Yes, we (your fans) will love you for you (you and your personality, aside from your music) no matter what, but we genuinely love and enjoy your music. Why else would the majority of us listen intently to your songs in repeat and even have it in our heads? (I do that lol, I always have one of your songs that flows with my mood at that time looping inside my brain. You help me cope, actually, with many things, even eating disorder & body image; so thank you for that Billie. ) My point is, whoever loves your music will love your music. And whoever loves you will love you. Your voice, your music, your laugh, your funny faces, your ticks, your smile, your deeply beautiful eyes, YOUR PERSONALITY, (not just your features) even your flaws, your body; every single side of you inside and out is amazing and beautiful and gorgeous and handsome and so many other things. And no side more than the other. You are perfectly imperfect. I just wanted to say that. Everyone reading this review, thank you. Thank you so much Billie for what you’ve done for me. I am infinitely grateful and thankful. I don’t know if I’d be here without you
Love you Billie sm.

4. Terrible - All this is just terrible. People deserve to be broke and in the midst of a recession if they are willing to be sheep and keep listening to and throwing their money away on so called artists like this and so many others. Keep it up and you will always add to the unimaginative, and you will always be broke

5. THE TRUE REVIEW - guys read this she is awful, here is my reason.
: WAAAYYY to much auto tune, and she has a horrible voice and only WHISPERS and her instruments are bad.
: Her songs have absolute NO MEANING she has had no challenges in her life she’s just stared at a screen all day.
: she is racist against Asians, and she is overrated.
Guys listen to Melanie Martinez, AURORA, Vance Joy, and marshmello if you want good music.

6. we really should see her in a crown - no matter what you think, whether you like her or not, i think billie really is a great singer. a lot of people think she mumbles too much. but honestly yall are just deaf and can’t hear. Billie and finneas really are great at what they do, especially considering age, although that doesn’t matter. also it’s sort of funny to me how people hate on a lot of singers, not just billie, when most of them couldn’t do any better. period and gbye-

7. Great! - In all honesty, Billie is a great musician. I can very clearly see why she has Grammy’s to her name. She addresses problems that real teenagers face (depression, suicide, sleep paralysis, etc), collaborates with her brother (which, in my opinion, is really cool!), and uses her own unique style of music. People keep on saying that she’s suicidal, mumbles too much, and is a big rip-off, but I strongly disagree. The reason as to why I disagree is due to the fact that the majority of the people whom leave bad reviews are boomers, and that people have opinions. When I was growing up, my mom taught me a few lessons. Two of them were, ‘treat others how you want to be treated’, and ‘if you have nothing good to say, DONT SAY IT.’ The fact that people take time out of their day just to say something negative is absurd to me. But then again, people have opinions. Please, if you have an opinion that is negative, keep it to yourself!

8. It’s ok but not the best - I love her songs but meh it’s not that good but I still respect her but to the haters bro back off haters you all are probably boomers so back off boomers or you are little kids mad because she has more talent than you ever will lol don’t get me wrong I love all people but haters so back off bishes

9. Excuse all of you star raters - I am honestly shocked by how many star reviews there are. And the excuse in most of them is ‘it’s not good because it’s all negative.’ I don’t think you guys understand. There are people out there in the world who like this stuff for that, and there’s a lot of people who actually relate to all of these songs. Don’t go hating on a young innocent artist just cause she’s a bit dark in her lyrics. It’s her choice to make songs like this. If you don’t like it, make up your own happy music and leave the rest of the world alone.

10. I have your back - Don’t listen to the bad news train out there now I know you probably won’t read this message but if you happen to just know that they just need to shut the flip up and get there bad news butts out of here heck they should get there account deleated for this any reason either I am crazy or I’m telling the truth but either way I have your back

1. W O W - This is one of the most interesting albums of the s I’ve heard, drawing inspirations from all over the place-there’s gospel/alternative mixes, there’s blues/alternative mixes, and there’s even straight up blues and folk songs. This is definitely something I think all generations could get a taste for. Overwhelmingly, the best parts of this album are Hozier’s vocals-he’s a stunning bass, which fits the blusey style immaculately-and the lyricism. Hozier draws a lot from nature and from God, which gives even his love songs a bit of quirk and oomph to them compared to pop music you normally hear on the charts. The first nine tracks of this are flawless-the next six stumble a little, but I have a feeling that like real people do, cherry wine, and it will come back will grow on me. I definitely recommend giving this a go.

2. Absolutely Incredible - Hozier, within the past few months, has become one of my absolute favorite musicians. As a huge fan of blues, soul, classic rock, and traditional Irish folk, I am positively blown away by this album. It’s the perfect blend of all of those elements, retrofitted for a modern audience of existentially distressed young people (much like myself). And while Hozier’s sound is incredible and I could go on praising each and every little bit of each song, I think his messages are so much more important. He straight up called out the Catholic Church for all its intolerance. He creates stories with arcs and symbolism befitting a gothic novel, and fits them with ease into five-minute musical masterpieces (see “In the Woods Somewhere”). He takes toxic masculinity head-on in serious songs about domestic abuse towards men. This issue, which has been long swept under the rug with phrases like “just hit her back” or, even more blatantly “you’re a man, you’re not being abused, you’re letting this happen”, is now seeing the light of day. In “Cherry Wine”, Hozier sings from the perspective of a man who is being physically abused by a female lover, but who continually looks for ways to justify her actions towards him. Abuse is complicated, no matter who the victim is, and this song captures that perfectly. And then there’s “Angel of Small Death and the Codeine Scene”, in which Hozier tackles with incredible skill and sophistication the issue of emotional abuse—a problem that is very often overlooked, both in the context of male victims and just in general. He so perfectly compares an emotionally abusive partner to an addiction. Abuse of any sort (but especially emotional) can create conflicting feelings in a victim, much like a drug can in an addict. An addict may well know that their addiction is destroying them, but they’re still drawn back to their drug of choice. Similarly, someone in an emotionally abusive relationship may feel miserable, yet may not have the wherewithal to end the relationship. Again, abuse is a very complicated topic that Hozier tackles incredibly well. As someone who has been in an emotionally abusive relationship, I can say with certainty that the issue is treated perfectly. Not to mention Hozier’s commentary on attachment in “It Will Come Back”. The speaker begs not to be treated well. If they are, he sings, they’ll not be able to easily leave the person who is so kind to them. The two verses are very similar, but there is a key difference between the two. Pronouns. The first verse refers to something the speaker calls “it”. This reference carries on to the first chorus, in which Hozier sings, “Don’t let it in with no intention to keep it, Jesus Christ! Don’t be kind to it! Honey, don’t feed it, it will come back.” The second verse refers to the speaker themselves. The pronoun “it” is replaced with words like “I” and “me”. Once again, this carries into the second chorus. “Don’t let ME in,” “Don’t be kind to ME,” etc. It’s an incredible analogy (equating the speaker to a lonely dog, who will be loyal to whoever is first to treat it well, but who has lived its entire life as a stray, learning to be an aggressive fighter). Not only does it establish the problem in a creative way, it also very well outlines just how negative a self-image the speaker has. He goes so far as to quite literally dehumanize himself. To the speaker, they themselves are no better than a desperate animal. And then there’s “In the Woods Somewhere”, a song that establishes fear and suspense like a Lovecraft novel in the span of only a few minutes. The musical production and instrumentation set the mood quite well. There’s a dark reverb on everything, and Hozier’s composition gives the whole song a woodsy feeling (it sounds strange, I know, but it truly does). The harmonies sound distant, dark, and forlorn. The whole atmosphere is one of unnerving darkness. The lyrics, of course, only add to this. The speaker is drawn by a scream into the woods, wherein he finds a badly wounded fox. Seeing it will not survive, he kills it to stop its suffering. “His bone exposed, his hind was lame. I raised a stone to end his pain.” What a start. And it only gets more unsettling. The speaker wonders fearfully what could’ve caused such large and grievous wounds. It’s at this point that the speaker feels eyes on him. “I saw new eyes were watching me.” Whatever attacked that fox is still there, and it’s watching. Chilling. The creature (which, by the way, is never definitively identified, and therefore so much more terrifying) lunges at the speaker, who makes a beeline for his home outside the woods. The final line, “I found something in the woods somewhere,” is so perfectly unsatisfying. The speaker knows what he saw. We do not. He doesn’t speak its name, and our minds are left racing, thinking up harrowing creatures that could tear a fox to shreds. And the fun thing about human psychology is that anything we conjure up is going to be scarier than anything Hozier could’ve written. We think of what scares us, individually. Couple that with our innate fear of the unknown, and you’ve got a perfect recipe for tension. I’m not going to analyze any more songs, as I fear this is incredibly long-winded, and I want y’all to experience this masterpiece album for yourselves. All I can say is, every song on this album is worth a close and active listen. And if you’re not into song analysis (I’m a musician and an English major, so that’s really all I ever do), Hozier’s sound is still incredible, and these songs are so aesthetically wonderful that it would not be detrimental to simply listen to the sound of the music.

3. Come on, people. - This song attacks the Christian church, and I though that people are all about "WE NEED MORE LOVE AND LESS HATE!!!" Oh, but there's an exception when we talk about Christians? Hmm, okay. That doesn't exactly make sense. Goodbye. I hope you think about the lyrics of a song before you totally love it. Just because the tune and the medley of a song is cool, doesn't mean that it's a good song.

4. Amazing album from an amazing artist - He has such a way of words with beauty and morbid. weeks talks about love and rotting away in the ground. Cherry wine commenting on domestic violence and was recorded in an abandoned warehouse. Every track is a different flow and different music form. He has so much diversity in his music Idk why all these tracks weren't on the radio. From Eden is awesome and someone new is soundtrack to my life

5. New Favorite Artist! - Recently, I discovered that Hozier is Irish (he posted an AMA on Reddit). Knowing his background really helps the listener to figure out why he says certain things in the songs. It really shapes the way a person thinks. It made the music that much more beautiful and added so much more meaning.

6. He didn't bash everyone that goes to church - The top radio listeners don't quite understand that his music was not recorded in a slick studio for Swift and Bieb fanatics. He recorded his song in an attic. Go cry about "repeating lyrics" in your "pop" Swift reviews. Lol He is a deep lyricist that is against inhumanity. If you are so childish that you think he didn't have humor or that he was so serious, like he was telling you to "go to church", you're a deluded nasty person. He is against violence against innocent people who have the right to live their lives. His own father suffered because he was beaten by a nun because he was left handed. There's nothing insulting about singing & writing beautiful music & being funny in the ignorant reviewer's face.

7. good music, but needs to grow up! - Amazing voice, and nice sense for gospel and blues music, but nothing much to say (except perhaps to swooning teenagers - oh, and lingerie models...the part where he played at a Victoria's Secret runway show? Gaaaaaak.). Might check back in maybe five or ten years from now and see if he's grown up enough to be thinking and writing about something besides sex as a religious experience, or if he just goes the commercial sell-out route.

8. LOVE THIS ALBUM - Hozier is such a good artist, every song he makes is just perfect. This is the only album I have ever left a review on because I love it that much. The haunting lyrics and fitting acoustics makes a masterpiece of work. And all of this is on his debut album... Amazing. Keep up the good work Hozier!!!

9. Genius - The voice, the lyrics, the musicality, the style and authenticity. No need for overproduced mainstream "music" when there are bands like this! - it touches your soul. Bought the CD off amazon initially but buying the special edition album off of iTunes because I basically killed my CD due to overuse, plus it has no bonus tracks and that is reason enough. Doesn't hurt that Andrew is sexy as hell.

1. Two Main Hits? - Not sure why but it seems fishy only two hits from most bands are noticed. Since you here it at work or any other main business it gets annoying for just those “licensed?” songs. There’s surely other great tracks that should be noticed. Paramore is a great band just more songs need to be noticed.

2. Change of music and change of heart - Honestly the first time I heard this album I almost hated it, it sounded nothing like what I was used to. But now looking back on it a few years later, that couldn't have been a better thing. I love this album now and find myself with the songs from it stuck in my head. It's currently the same thing happening with the new album for me, I don't like after laughter that much but hey it might grow on me too! When you compare this to their old stuff and compare it to their new one it actually does fit very well in between and you can see where they are going with their music. I just now really like looking back and seeing how this band has grown and evolved!

3. This is Paramore's best album to date! - This is Paramore's best album to date! Instrumentally, I love the variety, especially the gospel and classic rock! The lyrics are so beautiful. As usual, Hayley did a pheonominal job with song writing and singing! Taylor and Jeremy are brilliant musicians as well! Excellent!

4. Evolved and even better. - I'm sorry but true fans don't stray away when a band goes through major changes. The fact that they are still amazing and have evolved as artists is TRUE talent. If you want a cookie cutter artist that never changes, try someone different. I've loved Paramore from the very beginning myself, but I love them even more now at the fact they have evolved and still sound AMAZING! So haters and old fans. Bye

7. We Are Paramore!!! - I have been to two concerts and Paramore is my favorite band of all time I love singing all their songs! This album was definitely different from the previous three but this is favorite out of the four albums because the albums is about moving on into the future and forgetting the past and I can't wait till the next album which I will buy but Paramore will continue their success and if you haven't already buy this because it's worth it

9. Grunkle Stanner - I have just started listening to Paramore and it is great! I love the rock sound, and the fact that at least two of the band members are Christian! This might be a little long, but it's worth it. It seems like Hayley Williams' voice has changed, because I've listened to Misery Business. Pretty cool song. But Hayley has truly found a way to make her newer voice work, and it sounds a little... Jazzier, even. It's really nice -sounding. I do not like Daydreaming that much. It could have more depth, and it sounds sort of repetitive. I've only just started listening to this album, so I might like things more once I listen to them more. I like Grow Up, because it talks about how sometimes, you just have to grow up and deal with life as it is. Hayley sings that people shouldn't pity her, because she's got a love she would die for and a song to sing. She's living out her dream. I love the first line: "I told em all where to stick it, I left town with a dime to my name..." Awesome. I also like Fast In My Car. It talks about how life has been hard, but even though the band has been through tough times, they aren't looking for violence. They just want to have fun. The first song that really got me into Paramore was Still Into You. It talks about having a relationship that has lasted for a while that might just be forever. I love the line where Hayley bursts out... "Not a day goes by WHEN I'M NOT IIIIINTO YOOUU!!" Awesome!!! Ain't It Fun is very true about life. I love how it says not to go cryin' to your mama, 'cause your on your own in the real world. Exactly what it says. My favorite, and I know most people don't like this song, is NOW. In a gym full of people that can laugh at you, you still feel like raising your hand up and making a rock on sign when the chorus of this song comes on. I've actually done this once, because this song is so awesome. It is sort of descriptive, but not as much as on other songs. This album is completely awesome. I would definitely recommend it!!!

10. Happy for Paramore! - I am a huge fan of Paramore and this pop album sounds really good. If this was the first album I ever heard from them, then I would be super into it. To be honest, I think their first albums were the best and I still listen to those everyday. This kind of album isn't really my thing. However, I still listen to their first albums and rock out to them. I will always love Paramore and they will never stop playing their old songs. They changed, it's cool and I'm happy for them. They seem super positive and they are having a good time and that's all that matters.

1. Memories - I’m and still LOVE this album. As the mother of boys this brings back such fond memories of watching them grow up with all their friends at my house. The oldest used to listen to them around the bonfire and his buddy swore they would play in our backyard. Little did his buddy know years later he would be playing music with the drummer. At the nd sons HS graduation after most people left, we had about friends in my living room @ am singing Graduate. The rd and youngest carried on the tradition by following them all over the Midwest to different venues. He couldn’t wait one day to turn to get the only tattoo on his body which is of course EB! So thanks for the memories and the awesome music.

2. Best Album Ever - This is by far my favorite album of all-time. From start to finish, every single song is outstanding. So extremely underrated. This was Cadogan and Jenkins at their best. Too bad Cadogan was fired from the band and the level of songwriting was never quite the same. Narcolepsy, The Background, Motorcycle Driveby and God of Wine are all masterpieces.

3. Don’t just purchase one song - I want to write a review, but nothing I can say will reflect what this album means to me. It literally kept me from doing something stupid. Every song is a hit in my eyes. This goes in my top all time favorites and that means something because my taste is very wide. I wore this CD out. Had it stolen, and bought it again. Now that we are in the digital age, I own these songs once again. Don’t purchase one song because you heard it on a movie. Purchase the whole album. You won’t regret it.

4. A Modern Classic - It's almost years after release and this album and I still listen to it. In my opinion, it is the greatest album of the s. Interesting and appealing melodies, large and miniscule, weave throughout the album. Words are thoughtful and creative, not cliche. Each instrument played is exceptional. There is nothing empty here. Something interesting is going on in each moment.

5. One of History's Greatest Pieces of Art - I never really cared much for music, then I became a drummer. Then I discovered this album. Buy it. Buy it now and love it forever. The hits will give you a sense of familiarity but don't be afraid to dig into this album a bit. Songs like The Background and Narcolepsy will shed light onto those hidden regions of pain in your soul and make them beautiful. You're going to be amazed as to how much humanity can be put into chords and rhythms. Don't be afraid to even let some tears out while some tracks play, I know I have. This is certainly one of the best albums to have come from the s, buy it now, I beg of you. You won't regret one second of it.

6. Absolutely Beautiful - Losing a Whole Year /, fun to sing along to, not the best this album has to offer
Narcolepsy /, perfect in every way, the vocals, the lyrics, the drums, one of the best on the album
Semi-Charmed Life / best song on the album, hands down
Jumper /, great song but can be repetitive
Graduate /, live the drums and vocals here, great song
How's it going to be /, amazing song with powerful lyrics, can make you shed a tear
Thanks a lot /, meh there's better
Burning man / a highly motivational, and powerful song, this is one of the best
Good for you /, I don't know why, I just don't like this one
London / good song, cool drums
I want you /, not my favorite, but great for a date
The background /, not my favorite either, but still good
Motorcycle drive by /, second only to semi-charmed life, great song, great lyrics, great everything
God of wine /, I don't like it a ton, but it's a good closing track Overall, this album is /, there are some slow ones, but this album still rocks, best are semi-charmed life, motorcycle drive by, and burning man

7. Stands the test of time! - It was the Summer of ' and Semi-Charmed Life was all over modern rock radio and movie preview commercials soon followed with it as the soundtrack. Jumper and How's it going to be and Graduate followed. But it's the other songs on the album, especially the last four, that make it so strong: the groove of I want you, the longing and missing and nostalgia of The Background and Motorcycle Drive-By, and the sadness of God of Wine. The album is timeless because it's songs are about life and relationships-with friends, significant others and family. If you're at any point in life but especially in middle school to college age, I recommend you pick this up. It may just speak to you.

8. Best Band Ever? - I knew the big hits from this album, such as "Semi-Charmed Life", "How's It Gonna Be", and "Jumper", but after I saw a live recording of them on TV, I had to check out their other songs. This entire album tells a story that can be interpreted by any person who listens to it in so many different ways. The song "The Background" makes me cry almost every time I listen to it because the lyrics make so much sense, and they're just so easy to relate to. I memorized "Motorcycle Drive By" in a matter of hours, and will be performing it at an acoustic show I have coming up. "God of Wine" is so very beautifully written. As some of the songs on the album are about drugs, and getting unclean, the last song really wraps it up nicely because they really want to know if they can get clean again. Their songs can go from peaceful and serene to full on rock n' roll in a matter of seconds, and it's always an amazing transition. I'm going to go see them live on the st and I think that show will be worth every single cent spent on it, and the drive up as well. This album is totally worth the money, and so are Blue and Out Of The Vein. Each has their own unique sound to it, while still maintaining the Third Eye Blind reputation of post-grunge rock. I'm a huge fan of Third Eye Blind, they're such a great band.

9. The Jelly in the Donut. - This is the definition of a great album. Catchy songs like "Semi-Charmed Life" and "Jumper" act like the siren's song and pull you into buying the album, and soon after going through the first half of the album, you find the deep complexity and poetic lyrics that the band has hidden. I like to compare this album to a jelly donut (don't laugh too much) in that on the outside you see "Semi-Charmed Life" and you say "That looks pretty good", so you buy the donut and take it home. You wake up in the morning, pour yourself some coffee, grab the newspaper, and take a bite out of that donut. Biting through that outside layer and into the sweet center (Songs like "The Background" and "Motorcyle Drive-By"), you begin to tear up and realize that donut was more delicious than it looked. You realize that this is more than a donut. You realize that this is beauty.

10. Just Jams - This album is insane. It is like their greatest hits album. "Semi Charmed Life" caught my ear and when I dug deeper and listened to the less popular tracks such as "Narcolepsy" I was hooked. I now own every song ed has put out into the world; they're my favorite band. I also saw them three times live and they rocked. Since they are not too popular they play small venues, so its a really intimate experience. eb is the best and I'm dying waiting for their new album to come out. They said they were recording it when I went to see them this winter so hopefully they release it within the year. Keep on listening to eb and pestering them on their site and maybe they will release it sooner. Till then Ill be jamming to this CD and some DMB.

11. It should be / stars on iTunes - Simply because of the fact they completely changed the beginning to Graduate it should be demoted a star and a half. I hate this band because of how things went down with Kevin Cadogan. I love this ALBUM because it's incredible. All the rest of their albums pale in comparison simply because they didn't have Kevin Cadogan's ingenious guitar playing. He co-wrote of songs on this album. All but Jumper, Semi-Charmed Kinda Life, I Want You, and Motorcycle Drive By were co-written by Cadogan and Jenkins. And except for Motorcycle Drive-By, those songs are on the lower end of the greatness of this album. These two could've been legendary and a truly iconic duo. But Stephen Jenkins was greedy and selfish and continues to get sued by band members today. Like I said, this album is tremendous and iconic if you were born in the early 's. But, it's also a sad reminder at how great this band could've been had they not lost Cadogan due to Jenkins' selfishness and greed. Go check out Kevin Cadogan's stuff on iTunes. His music is great and his lyrics are about / where as Jenkins has his lyrics as great and his musicianship as about a /. Together they would've been perfect.

3. As it stands, the greatest album of all time - Not only does this album complete a story throughout the tunes, but it does that magical thing that almost no other album has done: every song is as good as the last. On nearly every other album, I have or songs that I absolutely despise, even if I thoroughly enjoyed the rest. That is not present here.
2018-03-15
4. Repetitive and mind-numbing garbage - A friend of mine urged me for years to check this "band" out. Eventually he got to the point that he gave me the cd's to rip. To my shock, this album has sat in my library unplayed for almost a decade and i finally just got around to checking it out in earnest. Talk about repetitive, mind-numbing, and uncreative garbage. Every part of this is awful. The instrumentals are half-fake, the lyrics are (as said) repetive and took zero skill to write and the vocals are weak at best. The whole album is a total droning snooze fest that i'm left wondering how this man /band actually got paid for pooping this out. I know Damon pats himself on the back, pretentiously, for his constant genre-bending. However i'm not impressed by that in the slightest. When you blend a bunch of genres that are all done poorly, it's not only weak, but now it's also pretentious garbage. I don't often give an album rating of just star. I have only given that out maybe times in literally a thousand album reviews. It was hard not to with Demon Days however as every single track was a throwaway. Even the very best songs on here were just mildly catchy, but still clearly not worth keeping in my library.

1. Impressed - I love her soft whispery vocals and amazing vocal range. This album is the kind of album that gives me good chills just listening to the previews. She is doing an amazing feat by doing this all by the age of fifteen. Some of the songs are a bit too creepy for me- so I think just stars for this one.
It’s not a review if you just say; ‘outright trash’ or just ‘slay queen’. Please leave a review that if Billie Eilish (Sorry if I’m Spelling your/her name wrong!) were to read, she would know exactly why you love or don’t love her album. And yes we can leave negative reviews, but at least don’t say it’s bADmUsIc; just say it’s either not for me or I don’t like this genre. IT’S THAT SIMPLE!!

2. Idk what to name this lol - Anyway this song is really good I mostly listen to it when I come inside of school and when I am on class it’s really good, would say you should listen to this. Right now i am listening to running up that hill lol! I’m out of ideas about this song but it is really good. Anyway good day evening or night bye!

3. To: ROBLOXKiduser - Basically what you are saying is that people who don’t like this music shouldn’t write reviews. That is the point of reviews. We SAY a how we feel. Anybody who posts their stuff online has gotta be prepared for this. One person may like it, but that doesn’t mean everyone will. I don’t like this at all. Her voice is a whisper and it’s to slow and depressing. Billie Eilish(hope I spelled it right), I would just think about making an album that’s full of fast and happy songs, for the fans. That would probably help your fame, so people who like this music still like you, and people who don’t can like your other album.

1. Holy crap this album is good - Holy crow this album is amazing. It brings me to my feels every time! I remember listening to this album on a daily basis in elementary school. These songs honestly make me feel happier every day, and I thank early Coldplay for that. I still listen to their newer music but not as much as the first ever Coldplay album

2. Superrick Review - I was in college at The University of Wisconsin Milwaukee and frequented a local record store ( a thing of the past) . A clerk who new my proclivity for what I might like in music recommended this album. I f.....ing loved it . Every track!! Itis still my favorite Coldplay LP . Rush of the Blood to My Head is a close second. Their newer stuff is good but nothing compares to Parachutes !! Great song writing which propelled them on to the worldwide spotlight . How can anyone not love the simplicicity and allure of Sparks !!! Yellow remains an encore standout !! Definitely my favoite amoungst their many standout albums,

3. Coldplay’s debut album sets the stage for the band they would become. - While perhaps not my favorite album, “Parachutes” has a lot to offer and set Coldplay up to become who they are today. “Don’t Panic” /
A chilling opening to the album, very short and sweet (well, not sweet, sour, maybe?)
“Shiver” / A lot of people like this song, and it’s not that I don’t, it’s just compared to the other songs on the album it’s kind of mediocre. It’s chorus is good, though.
“Spies” /
I remember first listening to this album and hearing this song and being like: “Wow! This is amazing!” That sentiment still sits with me today, and this song is still one of my favorites.
“Sparks” / Maybe it’s the fact that this song comes right after “Spies,” or maybe I’m just crazy, but this is probably my least favorite song on the album (and yet it’s still better then most music). It’s too slow for me, and seems repetitive sometimes. I’d much rather listen to “Spies” or “Everything’s Not Lost.”
“Yellow” /
This was the song that made Coldplay well known, and it’s really good. The lyrics are good, the music is good, it sounds like Coldplay. It’s a good song, nothing more, nothing less.
“Trouble” / The best thing about this song is the opening, hands down. When I hear that piano I always get excited.
“Parachutes” /
Although short, the titular song is still good, and is a nice segue into “High Speed.”
“High Speed” /
Much like “Yellow,” this song is just a good Coldplay song that I’d be okay listening to for the rest of my life (something I’ll probably do).
“We Never Change” /
While somewhat somber, I find this song’s message to be good, and the music is nice too.
“Everything’s Not Lost” /
The pinnacle of the album, I often feel like “Everything’s Not Lost” is somewhat underappreciated. It’s so good! The message to not give up, along with some killer tunes makes this song nearly perfect.
“Life Is For Living” /
This hidden track on “Everything’s Not Lost” is some more Coldplay magic, much like “Yellow”, “High Speed”, and “We Never Change.”

4. It’s good - So Yellow is my favorite Coldplay song. It ventures into slightly abstract concepts and that is what makes it so good. You don’t need a lot sometimes. This album proves that. Yellow is the stand out here for me. It’s one of the few songs that I still have a personal connection to. Everything’s not lost is also pretty good. The album can get a bit experimental. For example, Sparks is kind jazzy. I think it would benefit Coldplay to get in touch with their roots more often. Good first impressions are what this album is all about.

5. Is this magic - Is Coldplay hacking my mid right now?! This album is pure litty Fire!!! This is so chill and calm and relaxing and is super great! Coldplay you are the best! Keep making music till you simply can’t anymore! After all this being said I do miss the old chill rock or just rock at least from Coldplay. The new pop stuff is good, but this is a lot better and shows more talent!
2020-06-30
6. A classic - I tend to disagree with those who say this early Coldplay band sound is but a distant memory. I think various songs on their later albums call back to their classic parachutes sound. That is, a sound that achieves so much with so little. Parachutes may be the most successful minimalist album of the century. Rarely venturing any further than dry guitar tones and a simple acoustic strumming pattern, each track is simple in its approach to melodies and rhythm and doesn’t lose itself trying to prove anything, which is remarkable for a debut album. As for Chris Martin’s lyrics, it’s the cherry on top of an album that’s simply a delight to kick back to.

7. It’s probably really good. - I can’t stand Coldplay. I’ve tried to like them. I’ve really tried. But I can’t. I’m a ridiculously huge fan of Imagine Dragons, having memorized every song THEY put out since . I’m also a fan of The Score, and I like lots of songs from AJR. Many fans of Imagine Dragons and The Score are also fans of Coldplay. I’ve tried my hardest to like this, but I just don’t. It’s probably amazing; I just don’t hear it.
2018-06-10
8. You know I love you so - I think Coldplay is one of the most influential artists of the ’s decade. Coming from a man who has primary been involved in hip hop and hard rock, I would say Coldplay is an alternative group with some intimate melodies and underlying meaning in their lyrics. Yellow is a classic hit that really set the tone for the decade of music to come and the Parachutes record was a great beginning for a band that has not ceased making quality music since
2018-01-02
9. Total Chill - I was introduced to Coldplay via this album in college, and I've been a fan ever since. I still revisit Parachutes often and it's one of the four Coldplay albums I can listen to the whole album without skipping tracks. (Viva, Ghost Stories, and Rush of blood...being the others) "Trouble" is probably my favorite here, but "Yellow" and it's earnestness is great, "Shiver", "Spies" and "Sparks" are standouts as well. Great album for all chill activities!
2017-03-08
10. Great begginings - This is the album that couldn't go wrong since there aren't old and new fans here.
This album is a fantastic debut album Featuring dark vibes And alternative guitar work from Johnny Buckland
Great tracks like Yellow, Shiver and Trouble Shows off Chris Martin's great falsetto voice
And all of them are equally great!
