2. Excellent job! - Thank you for sharing valuable knowledge. Dr. Omar Suleiman is very soft spoken, his lectures are super easy to comprehend and keep up with, suitable for listening with the family. 4. What if I fail? - One night I was driving home from work listening to “ what if I fail” and it touched my heart so heavy I couldn’t even sleep that night , the next day I ran to a nearby Masjid and took my shahada! I was learning about Islam for a few months before that day and that talk just confirmed what was in my heart already. May Allah continue to bless you with wisdom and words that encourages people to run to him!

6. The Best! - This is one of the best powerful podcast I’ve heard on mental health, I am one of those people guilty of toxic positivity especially when it comes to the emotions of my children. I always felt they were strong enough to weather the storm and they’re well equipped with mechanisms of imaan. Now listening to all these scholars on mental health vis-à-vis our Islamic jurisprudence and perspectives it gave me an opportunity to searchinwards and the resolve to do better next time when counseling and listening to others pains and agitations. SubhanAllah! This is a life changing webinar that everyone must listen to especially people like us that operates in gender based violence. Ma’asha Allah! You have no idea how much you have enriched my soul! I normally run away from podcasts that lasts more than hour but this, I kept listening to over and over again to equip myself with the lessons and teachings that will help me advance my mission better. JazakAllahu khayran. May Allah continue to bless you and enrich us all with more insights and knowledge to help HIS Ummah. Allahumma Aameen. BarakAllahu fiyqum...

1. Ramadahn - You mention Muslims are commanded “NOT to kill their children.” I wish you could expand on this idea beyond “burying them in the sand” or killing them in infancy, forward in time to “honor killing.” I also wish you would extend it backwards in terms of abortion after the month mark. I believe such information would make a HUGE impact on western Muslims and perhaps others around the world… and would be great as a follow up to the NetFlix show Al-Rawiah school for girls. People, Muslim and otherwise NEED to know the difference between culture & religion. Thank you for all of your efforts. Your podcast make our Ramadahn better &
like you’re a part of our family

2. Inspiring - Mashallah this series is inspiring and the best way to self-educate. I only wish we had the option of requesting a topic? If you see this Mufti Menk, I would appreciate your teachings about what to do when a parent is suffering from a form of dementia and old age and their behavior is affecting the whole family in a negative way (inshallah kheire). Thank you!

3. Remarkable thanks to Mufti Menk - Mufti Menk, may Almighty Allah continue to grant you good health and long life to keep doing what you’re doing for the Muslims around the world. Your preaching have changed me from so many things that I was doing that was not right. Even though I’m not % perfect, but I’m performing my salat on time.

1. Best podecast - I love Qalam, May Allah reward the scholars and those behind the scenes to make it happen. My only suggestion: please update the Mufti Kamani’ Tuesday lectures more frequent. I like to follow the Tuesday episode, and sometimes it takes a while to see it on the podecast.... again it’s easy for me to make such suggestion at the comfort of my phone, I know it’s a lot more work and effort on y’all side. JazakaAllah

2. Perfect for Ramadan - Assalamu alaykum. Alhamdulillah and I’m very thankful and found this series as very beneficial in navigating my daily life, as a constant reminder as well as learning about Islam (tafseer, hadith, linguistic of Qur’an) and our beloved Prophet Prophet ﷺ (Seerah), especially during Ramadan. May Allah SWT reward all your good deeds and efforts, and open path to Jannah for everyone who has made these podcasts available. إن شاء الله

3. A must listen daily podcast - MasyaAllah, this podcast is amazing. My current favourite series are the Lives of the Prophets and Heartwork. They are simply inspiring and insightful. I have no words to describe my gratitude for making it easier for Muslims like us who don't have access to the institute physically to be present spiritually through these recordings. May Allah bless everyone with Qalam with barakah and grant everyone Jannah for all the efforts.

4. Thank you - I live in a community where these programs aren’t abundant. To have this as a resource has been such a profound, life changing tool to say the least. This podcast has uplifted me in times of hardship, and has changed my relationship with Allah (swt). I pray that every person that is behind this effort is rewarded immensely. You all have made a huge impact in my life and many others that I know. Thank you all so much for your time, hard work, and dedication that you all have put forth to bring this effort to life.

5. Engaging and amazing. - These podcasts are not ones that you want to idly play in the background. I’ve been taking notes on Mufti Hussein Kamani and Imam Mikaeel Smith’s series. I look forward every week to being able to turn the world off and have these intricate Islamic sciences broken down for me.
2018-07-02
6. Great lectures and hangouts! - I have been listenting to islamic lectures for years. Qalam has always had the most organized and best audio quality podcasts. All the speakers are very knowledgeable and always provide useful insight. The best recent addition is the Hangout with Sh. Jangda and Murphy. There is nothing else like two people of knowledge just hanging out in a normal way instead of a speaker lecturing at us. Really hope they continue the series on a regular basis! Keep it up, and may Allay bless you all!

7. yuhhhh - Awesome. masha Allah. / would recommend. But in all honestly I love these podcasts because I can learn more about the life of the Prophet (sws) and increase my knowledge of the deen. Shoutout to The Hangout Podcast. I love listening to them while I'm working out it's a perfect mixture of beneficial knowledge, humor, and everything else you'd get being around other Muslims who are trying to improve their deen. I feel like I'm in the room with them when I'm listening to the podcast and sometimes I'm tempted to respond loooool. Also I have a question for AbdelRahman Murphy and Abdul Nasir Jangda (I think y'all said to put our questions here), can you guys talk more about using the word Kaffir and living in a Kaffir country? I hear that word get thrown around a lot by a lot of judgemental Muslims and I'm curious if there's any serious consequences in the Quran and sunnah regarading that stuff. thx!!

8. Hangouts where art thou? - Salaams,
Absolutely love this series we need more of these. But honestly, I am feel withdrawal symptoms. We need another episode! Suggestions: more women topics. We have loads on our shoulders and some traditions are very sticky. Like how we are raised to follow it strictly but it's not working to our advantage today.
2017-01-20
9. Topic Suggestions - Asalamwa'alykum! So great of you all to start a podcast where topics of concern in the community are being discussed. Some topics I would suggest would be; -The impact of information-overload on muslims' spirituality, while deciphering what's accurate and what's not
-Music's stance in Islam and the nuance it carries and also how the content of music in the st century compared to centuries ago, changed the views or fatwas of islamic scholars
-Ego

10. Hangout series - Just finished listening to this and it was amazing ma sha Allah. The dynamic between you two is very nice and refreshing to hear and the topic was covered in a very relevant way ma sha Allah. Looking forward to future episodes.
As for suggestions, gender interactions may be a very relevant one. Another subject could be the marriage issue in our community right now. Both in finding someone and the various pitfalls and struggles people face, and after finding someone and keeping a marriage great and healthy.

11. By Far the Best Islamic Podcast Series in English - Sheikh Abdul Nasir Jangda and Mufti Kamani may Allah swt grant both of them Jannah, are two gems that we should take advantage of. The Seerah Podcast is extremely beautiful and The Beginning of Guidance has helped me in reforming the way I conduct myself in my everyday activities as a University student.
2015-04-24
12. Definitely worth your while - I am always looking forward to the publication of the next episode of this series taught by Sheikh Abdul Nasir Jangda (May Allah preserve him Amin). This series is informative, engaging, accessible to folks of all levels of education, trustworthy, and heart touching. I find it very convenient to keep my mind occupied with this podcast whilst completing other duties such as cooking, cleaning, or exercising. And I am amazed by how much of the information, mostly the stories and less the names and dates, unfortunately, that I am able to retain and articulate later. I highly recommend this podcast for Muslims and nonMuslims alike, because anyone interested in learning about the life of the Prophet Muhammed (peace and blessings be upon him) will benefit from Sheikh Jangda's (May Allah grant him Jennat Al Furdose Amin) trustworthy and well-informed telling of the Seerah.

5. True Muslim - I have listened to several Islamic scholars in the USA and around the globe, I will say without any hesitation that Nouman’s message resonates well with myself and most Muslims I have come to know. He educates me on the true essence of being a submitter to the will of Allah. Islam is easier than people are mad to believe, it’s not all doom and gloom of becoming a Muslim. May Allah guide and protect you for this nation desperately needs someone like you.

1. The best - May Allah bless and protect Sh. Dr. YQ. He’s the most practical and pragmatic scholar there is. He separates revelation from opinions. He makes things easy (i.e., Yasir) & makes easy for the average Muslim to hang on to what is necessary. Some people (sincere, nonetheless) don’t like to hear anyone contradicting their sheikhs, as if the opinion of their shaykh was the revelation. MashaAllah. May Allah bless and protect him and increase him in all the Khair and protect him from the envy of the envies and attack of the unwise.
2022-08-31
2. Always Good Content - I love to keep up with all of the latest episodes, but I especially enjoy that I can always go back and start a new series whenever I am interested in learning more in depth about a certain topic. The seerah series is by far my favorite English resource on the life of the Prophet, may peace be upon him. My Allah bless Yasir Qadhi’s hard work!

3. Sheikh Yasir Qadhi - Alhamdu lillah. May Allah increase the sheikh in knowledge and protect him. I believe the sheikh has a more balanced approach to teaching the deen. I especially appreciated his lecture on wiping over the socks. I had read that the madhaahib were unanimous on only wiping over leather socks. The sheikh presented the position of Ibn Qudamah who was the leading Hanbali scholar of his time. Just to sum, Ibn Qudāmah’s books are the leading Hanbali fiqh books taught today and are even taught at Ummul Qura in Saudia Arabia. Umdah Fil Fiqh being the starting book and Al-Mughni being the most advanced. He was of the position that one could wipe over cloth socks. This means that one of the four madhaahib did accept wiping over cloth socks. The sheikh, in my opinion being balanced, was willing to share this information with us. May Allah reward him, give him Tawfiq and protect him.

1. Season - I am only at Season episode and I am so grateful to the host. I’ve learned so much and I appreciate especially how clear he is and not trying to whitewash certain events. For example I struggled to learn about Khalid ibn Walid’s poor behavior toward women (the ones he married and slave girls). Slave girls is in general the hardest thing for me to understand from an Islamic perspective and why it was allowed ever. This podcast doesn’t discuss this issue.

2. Unauthentic stories being passed as true - I was really enjoying this podcast until season , Br. Ismail is passing unauthentic events as fact and that really started to make me no longer enjoy this podcast. Season is filled with Shia bias events, who are we as Muslims to judge the Companions of the Prophet(saw)? There is no evidence that Muhammad Ibn Abu Bakr (RA) was there when Uthman (RA) was murdered other than the stuff that comes from the Shia side, which they have a history of fabricating what really happened. I am just kind of disappointed that stuff like that and many more stories in season were being told as fact.

3. Pretty objective but gets some details wrong. - This is a good podcast for sure and worth listening to. However, I couldn’t get passed messing up some facts specifically revolving around Syria. Here’s just a few. Al-Qassam was Syrian freedom fighter who went to fight in Palestine he wasn’t a Palestinian freedom fighter. Second, what happened in Iskanderun (aka Alexandretta) wasn’t merely a disputed referendum but Turkey moved tens of thousands of Turks in to vote right before the election to secure the result. That’s a pretty key fact to miss. Also, while Syria initially joined the Lebanese civil war on the side of the Maronite Christians, they ditched them pretty much as soon as they joined and favored supporting the Lebanese National Resistance Front (LNRF or JAMMOUL for the Arabic acronym) against the zionist invasion and the maronites they initially sided with. Lastly, I found some of the passive sectarian language revolving around Syria a little concerning. Last thing we need right now. I really do enjoy the podcast but couldn’t in good faith not point these details out. Keep up the good work.

4. Educated - This has been a thoroughly educational podcast with terrific research and professional production. Br. Muttaqi remains balanced and fair during every single episode. My kids listen as well to find out about the history they never learn in school. It’s certainly worth the investment to listen to all the episodes and tune into earlier seasons via the Patreon.

5. MashAllah , A great resource to learn about Islamic history !! - I always wanted to learn about Islamic history in a step by step and Alhamdulillah I came across this podcast. 6. Review - MashAllah I love this podcast. Each podcast episode is very riveting on the accounts that happened within general and Islamic history. Brother is very very knowledgeable and tells as if he was there experiencing these events. I’ve learned so much from this podcast . Alhamdulillah Makes me want to read and learn more.

7. It’s ok but many mispronunciations - It is ok in the facts and sequence of events. However, there is some facts that are wrong one example being when he said that Bosnia and Herzegovina is collectively called Serbia. Not sure what textbook has ever said that. Another problem is the mispronunciation and stumbling of works almost like he is reading someone else’s report for the first time. Maybe he needs coffee or is just tired but I can not recommend this podcast.

8. Simply amazing! - Ma'shaAllah great job br. Abu Ibrahim Muttaqi Ismail. Being a muslim by birth in a Muslim country still did not know so much of muslim and Islamic history. This Podcast is a great resource. Brother Ismail Muttaqi presents it in so simple way and captivating way that it is very easy to follow and cannot stop listening. I am thoroughly enjoying podcasts and learning so much Islamic History. I am really greatful to you and your noble effort to share your hard work. I pray that many people listens to this podcast and benefit from it like I am. I pray that brother Ismail Muttaqi be very successful. Brother keep up the good work. 9. Great English Resource - It’s so difficult to find good English resources when it comes to Islamic history. From what I’ve heard so far this is a brief introduction to so much history I’ve heard individual stories and narrations about but never understood the context. I love this podcast and I am so thankful I found it! May Allah bless this brothers efforts and make him successful in them.

10. Break up of Ottoman Empire - It is a great review of fall of Ottoman Empire .i love history & have read a lot about it before. Brother Muttaqi does an excellent job of review of this unfortunate part of ottoman history.in one of the Q&A sessions it was asked about how crescent & star became an Islamic symbol?
According to my reading the crescent & star was originally on the flag of Byzantine empire.
Once Ottoman defeated the Byzantine & took over Constantinople they felt that since they are now the inheritors of Byzantine Empire they have a right to adopt their flag’s crescent & star symbol as well.
This is how it became an Islamic symbol.
It also shows the openness & flexibility of Ottoman mind in adopting the symbol of other cultures though it was a defeated culture.
The dome of the Byzantine churches was also incorporated into Islamic architecture to become the dome of the mosques.

11. jazak Allah Kheer Thank you - I appreciate this podcast so much. As an American Muslim, I can’t find good history of Islamic countries in English. I usually have to find Arabic ones dubbed in English.. The main historian of Islamic history, Mohammad Musa Al Shariff, is the only one i found who has a love of teaching our history and hero’s but he only has a few dubbed videos and has been detained by the Saudi government. May Allah protect him. Ameen. Otherwise i never find many good ones in English. I also appreciate how you try to keep it neutral or somewhat unbiased, which is rare. I love history and am so happy i found this history podcast that includes the Middle East and Islamic countries. Sorry long but am excited i found this

12. Credulous and lacking objectivity - I had hoped for a reasonably objective narration of Islamic history. This is not that. There is a near complete lack of critical thought about anything foundational. Credulous, gullible, unquestioning. Some useful information about more recent events, and if one wants an example of thought from a thorough believer, one can find that. That’s about it. Disappointing.
2019-06-10
13. Great Fairly Objective Source - I’m not Muslim, but love studying world history. I really appreciate the work you do on this podcast. It’s hard to find sources online about Islamic history that aren’t biased one way or the other, but you are definitely a welcome exception. You always remind listeners that some things may be exaggerated as history is often written by the victor, but you also remind us of the time and place/context in which the events take place. Too often people judge historical figures by our modern values and too often the other side/apologists will make excuses and pretend historical events never took place. You deal with difficult topics like war and slavery objectively and that is not common. Also, stop apologizing for putting out content slowly! You work a full time job and do this on top of it and I’m grateful for your hard work. Thanks friend!

14. Blown away - Making a very long story short, I came across your podcast at a time when I was looking for something new to listen to during my min walk to work and back every day. My new interest in history and a sudden desire to learn more about a religion I knew nothing about led me to your podcast. The history of Islam is fascinating! And I really feel your attempt to give the most accurate depiction of events as they really occurred. What led me to finally decide to write a review was your message to your listeners at the end of -. I was one of the people you described! I believed many things that came from many unreliable sources. Not any longer. I look forward to my walk now as I can’t wait to hear more. I am way behind and have much catching up to do but within a few weeks, I should be up to date.

15. Amazing quality - I must admit that as a professional researcher I tend to be skeptical of history lessons from overtly religious sources due to the natural tendency towards bias. This podcast reminds me to always challenge my own prejudice. The author uses his understanding of Islam to provide depth and context, without sacrificing impartiality or accuracy. The first episodes I listened to were about Yemen and I was very surprised at the clarity of the episodes as the author touched on the most compelling elements of each without getting too far tangled in the complex environments. This is well produced, extremely well researched and delivered with a professional voice. He tells the story with a light tone, with digressions into humorous and interesting angles that provide depth and context. I don’t know what else to say. Good for students and teachers, good for Muslims and non-Muslims, good for history enthusiasts, great for parents, and even good for professional researchers. Do yourself a favor and listen to an episode.

16. Islamic History Podcast - This podcast has been sitting on my ipad for more than a year. Just last month I played my first episode. And wow did I enjoy it?
This is the best history of Islam I ever come across. I like it a lot and have shared word with friends. They all love it too.
It's time Muslims knew about what really happened in history. Nothing should be hidden or covered and no matter how gruesome.
My only complain is the music inserted at the end. Not that I am against music. I just feel it's out of place. Also those ancient place names when used should be followed by the modern countries they belong. Take Khosran where Imam Bukhari was born, where or which country could that be today! Listeners also need to know the year events occur in both Islamic and western calendars.
Thanks

9. Best thing that will ever happen to you - Nouman Ali Khan has done the tafseer ( translation with explanation) true justice. He has done it so well and easy to understand. Made it so easily accessible that if now we don't listen to it, we are truly unfortunate and biggest looser. It is our duty to listen and spread the word, otherwise we will be answerable to Allah ( God) on whole new level. Jazakallh , to Nouman Ali Khan and his team at Bayyinah for making us understand Quran as we are suppose to understand it.

4. Life-changing - About a year ago I started watching some of Faisal Choudhry's youtube videos. Subscribing to his channel is one of the best decisions I've ever made. Since then, I have learned so much from him, and I have grown a lot as a person. Faisal's first podcast, The Next Faze, was great, but Freshly Grounded has given me a new perspective on some things that I never would have thought about otherwise. Sam and Faisal have a nice energy and I could quite literally listen to them talk for hours!

1. Saving My Iman - Whenever my Iman drops, and I immerse myself in music, I find myself returning to this podcast. I love how familiar they both seem, how comfortable, how they include the listeners, and how they are unapologetically Muslim. As a sister it’s relieving to see a podcast of brothers talking where I don’t necessarily feel left out or like it’s not for me (I tend to listen to Muslimah podcasts). I can’t explain how eloquently they both speak and articulately. I’m always left feeling amazing, and reflecting on life in a more beautiful way. May Allah reward these brothers immensely, and may Allah unite our Ummah in Jannah. Barakallahu feekom!!!

7. Masha Allah - The longer we live in the west, the harder it is for to find inspiration to be mindful of our obligations within the diin. The brothers in this podcast effortlessly inspire us while having a conversation among themselves. It’s amazing! As a side note, there is something more special about gaining a boost of imaan when it comes from younger brothers that we can relate to. I love this podcast and recommend it to any Muslim.
