1. Not the Qu'ran but a massive commentary - There is an ancient expression that goes "where there are many words, there is sin also." This proverbial saying came to mind as I tried to read this version. It really is a magnification of the author/translator's opinions and personal interpretation of the Qu'ran not a readable and unblemished version for English speakers. I was very disappointed as I wanted simply to read the work and understand it for myself, without the pompous musings of another clouding my understanding. Moreover, it is impossible to read other books or articles that reference the Qu'ran and lookup the verse they refer too. The commentary interleaves the actual text on the most annoying and presumptuous manner.

2. The Muhammad Ali Translation is a must have! - Despite the limitations of this st e-book edition (English only and a bit clumsy to reference), it's a great effort by the publishers. At $., this e-edition is certainly worth adding to your ibooks library. Of course, an update to this edition or a new edition with Arabic text would be the ideal e-book Qur'an. In this edition, the Qur'an translation is in blue followed by the footnotes/commentary in black. This works fine for me. However, some readers may find that the footnotes in between the verses affect the free flow of reading the English translation. Jaza'kallah to the editors, for bringing (IMHO) one of the best translations of the Qur'an to the iTunes store! I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in reading a copy of the Qur'an. This easy-to-read translation by Maulana Muhammad Ali certainly captures the message of the Qur'an. Hope this review was helpful. Jeffrey A.

3. Man, I've been waiting for this!!! But... - I'm certainly happy it's here finally...having the footnotes in between ayats, however, seems to interfere with fluid reading. Wish something could be done to address that...perhaps an option to toggle back and forth from. My biggest irritation is not being able to locate Surahs easily. Even when using the page scroll to the bottom I find it cumbersome and give up and head back to the table of contents...which, also, brings little relief. My guess is that it's faster using a REAL Quran; which is sad given an iBook should be more responsive and rewarding. All in all, there is nothing like this translation and because of that it is well worth the purchase. However, please, please, please address these issues for future admirers of this translation. However, APBTA, it's here :)

1. Nice work - There were a few spots that I disagreed with the translator's choice of words. But overall, amazing work. The summary at the beginning of each surah was helpful. Remember, this is a translation, not the actual Qur'an so if something seems confusing/strange, research the history, alternative translations, etc.

2. Easy to read, no Arabic text - Assalam U Alaykum, I just bought the book as I was told the translation is easy read for kids. Reading sura Fatiha and some parts of sura Baqarah (The Cow) I will agree. However I was disappointed to see translation without the Arabic text. Now I need to find my kids response.

2. What a clown!!! - Dude thinks he is a prophet of God He took some teachings of a religion that at that time in America was not known to the average person. Jumbled it all up to benefit he financial cause and at the same time used African Americans looking for some form of unity to do his dirty work. Dude is the biggest piece of trash to walk the face of the Earth in the last years. I know he is burning in hell!!!!!

Mistranslation - I am very aware of mistranslation but this Quran like most Qurans is outright lying this one as gone a step further and is saying the exact opposite of what true Quran Says do not waste your money. This Quran instead of Saying the desert Arabs are most fitted to be in unbelief and Hippocrates it says the Desert Arabs are the only Believers buying their way into heaven not that a person can do that but it is what it says.

1. A must have to English speaking muslims - This is a clear and comprehensive translation and exegesis of the Quran. It’s extremely useful for looking up specific verses and delightful to just read page after page. The bonus essays written by prominent scholars are worth the price alone. However there is a major formatting problem in the iBooks version of The Study Quran. In place of verse numbers there are other alpha and non-alpha characters. For example if you look at verses - of The Cow (chapter ), you can see the verse numbers next to each verse are replaced with the characters j, z, {, and . The verse numbers appear correctly next to the exegesis below each verse. I use this wonderful book a lot so I am writing in hope that the publisher could fix this issue and republish it to the iBooks store.

1. Excellent Shafi'i fiqh primer - This is an excellent concise manual of Shafi'i fiqh that anyone would benefit from, regardless of his/her level of knowledge. It functions as a primer for beginners and a handy reference for more advanced students. It contains the original Arabic and it is vowelled, which is a tremendous help to those of us who are still learning the language. The English is clear and simple and the explanatory footnotes are very helpful. Shaykh Musa did a wonderful job. May Allah reward Shaykh Musa and the author, Abū Shujā‘ al-Aṣfahānī.

2. Very Useful - Credit to Shaykh Musa for publishing this important work of Shafi'i fiqh. It is easy to read in both Arabic and English, properly organised and formatted and, most importantly, is accurate and a great text to learn with a qualified scholar. 3. Excellent and authoritative translation! A real service! - This is an exceptional ebook that presents both the Arabic text and English translation of Qadi Abu Shujaa's Ghayat al-taqrib, a manual of Islamic law according to the Shafii school. The translator, Shaykh Musa Furber, has studied Islamic law, theology, and the ancillary sciences for over a decade and a half under qualified teachers from various parts of the Muslim world, including Damascus, Syria and al-Azhar. He has brought his considerable expertise to translating one of the key teaching texts of the Shafii school and making it accessible in a unique format for modern English speaking Muslims. It is a most welcome addition to the library of classical texts in English. The original Arabic has served as a teaching text for countless Muslims over a span of centuries and it is hoped that this translation will have the same reception amongst English speaking Muslims.
