1. Betterhelp ads are gross - LOVE Ram Dass, but really disturbed by your partnership with Betterhelp. I’m a therapist and previously worked with Betterhelp. It’s an exploitative, unethical company developed by tech bros capitalizing off the tele-healthcare market and mental health crisis, not people with any sort of therapy or mental health background, and the way they do business shows—on both the clients and therapists’ ends. For heaven’s sake, they’ve been accused of selling client data to Facebook, and in response issued a statement that they’re not subject to HIPPA. The Ram Dass lectures are great, but skip the ads (and intro)

2. Stop the intro - Please, do us all a favour, stop making a min intro, rambling about your thoughts on Ram Dass’s words. It is unnecessary and irrelevant. Many comments mentions it, why doing it still and making it that long? Don’t you read the reviews? Let Ram Dass speak, we do not need a min intro for a min talk..

3. A life manual - The words of Baba Ram Dass have helped me open my heart and understand the eastern spiritual teachings better than any teaching or methods have. I used to skip forward to his talks but lately the intro by Raghu has grown over me. I have loved getting to know him and his story of coming to Maharaj-ji. Thank you to the Love Serve Remember foundation for sharing the wisdom of Ram Dass in his own spoken words. Ram Ram.

4. Thank you! - I accidentally stepped into a showing of Becoming Nobody at the San Diego film festival. I’ve been hooked ever since. I listen to this podcast to recenter my life and to let go. You can say I’m addicted to this method. I appreciate everyone working on this podcast! Raghu Markus, keep up the good work.

5. Annoying introductory speaker! - Just let the man speak! The message Ram Dass delivers is clear and self explanatory so it's totally unnecessary for you - Mirabai Bush - to give your opinion and ideas about it. Your ideas are only going to distort his original message and therefore is doing more bad than good!
2022-03-01
6. Limitations - Words limit the expression of the gratitude I feel. Thee, overwhelming, sense of peace… that comes from these lectures…quite literally, cannot be put into words. I am eternally grateful. I am eternally grateful. I appreciate all of the hard work that is put forth to provide the teachings of Ram Dass. May He Rest With God.

7. So close yet so far - This would be a star rating if the podcast was simply a platform for Ram Dass’ lectures and recordings. I always skip over Raghu’s long winded introductions. I personally don’t gain anything from his lengthy dissertations on what Ram Dass says in the upcoming lecture before it’s even played. It’s not the Raghu Marcus podcast and to be honest, I find myself getting frustrated and perceiving Raghu as fanning his own ego with all of his chatter. I would love to see the format of this podcast changed so that Ram Dass’ material is centered, with minimal input from ancillary commentators. Early episodes of Sharon Salzberg’s Metta Hour provide a good template.

8. There is no greater gift. - In these talks, Ram Dass consistently serves up entertaining, powerful, and comforting words to help us unstick ourselves from conditioned beliefs that cause us so much unnecessary suffering. Not many spiritual teachers are as brilliant, eloquent, caring, AND genuinely hilarious.

9. Cull the Intros - Great podcast! Endless inspiration and insight. I could (and do) listen and re-listen to these episodes all the time. I love having regular reminders of what I “already know” from Ram Dass. Only criticism is that I think the intros could be shorter. I generally skip through the first - minutes to get to the lectures themselves. But that’s just me…

10. LOVE SO MUCH - I really enjoy this podcast! I love hearing all of Ram Dass’ teachings and wish I knew about the podcast years ago when I first discovered Be Here Now. I have been listening in order and am on episode now. I have also grown to enjoy Raghu Markus’ intros, which like many other commentators I was turned off by at first. If you feel so strongly about them I would suggest looking inside and figuring out why you feel that way. He has some good stuff to say & explains things that are sometimes assumed to be known by Ram Dass. Overall have really really been enjoying this!

11. Life-changing introspection, insight on ego & spirit - Thank you, Ram Dass, for opening my eyes. Thank you, Raghu, for showing me where I’m not, and for curating this life-changing collection for a new generation. Order doesn’t matter beyond the first few, and intros are optional—Ram Dass’ talks begin - minutes in. Enjoy!

12. Beyond grateful - My life is changing from these podcasts. I’m embodying more of these teachings and I’m forever grateful!! So grateful he was recorded and so grateful they are being shared. Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou!!!! A side note: Better Help doesn’t give sustainable income to their therapists. And the quality of therapy is reduced to worksheets and burnt out therapists…. There should be affordable therapy for everyone but better help needs to do better…

13. Major disappointment - Have been a huge fan of Ram Dass for years. My mother and I shared this passion. Was so excited to listen to this podcast. I didn’t even make it to the content because the intro was so horrible to listen to. What a major turn off! I even tried to skip ahead : at a time. After mins of hot air I just had to unsubscribe. What a disappointment.

14. Love the guy can’t stand the host - Thank you for making the material accessible through this podcast. For the life of me, I cannot think about what kind of intention you have each time you record your intro. I am only stating my experience and am hoping that for the overwhelming majority it adds to their listening experience. To me, each time, it feels like cheap advertising on the back of something really valuable, like a leech. Again, thank you for making this work possible and FYI: his talks speak for themselves

2. Most Uplifting Podcast-Wisdom of the Sages - If there is one word I can use to describe the Wisdom of the Sages podcast, I would say, ‘uplifting’. Combining the ancient wisdom of the sages of India and the Vedas with contemporary philosophy and scholarly wisdom from all over the world, including both western and eastern theology, Raghunath and Kaustubha have created a show as solemnly inspiring and motivational as it is entertaining and often humorous. The show provides a sincere, sophisticated approach to learning about and reading the Srimad Bhagavatam and the Bhagavad Gita and applying it’s wisdom practically to our lives today in the modern world, while at the same time making it fun to learn and never dry. I would recommend this show to anyone, and listening daily has made a major positive impact on my life. I love starting my day out with WOS. You gotta check it out! -David Murray

3. I’ve been listening since it started - These guys are very special souls. Raghunath is very charismatic and just naturally has such a great perspective that he’s well known for - maybe got a million people into Krishna. Kaustubha brings the balance, which is a lesson in itself. It really is my favorite podcast.

4. A man needs a maid - I found out about this podcast back in April and I’ve been binging every day since. Some how Raghunath came to mind (probably readin something about hardcore) and i gave him a search because i honestly didn’t know anything about him other than he sang in bands. I don’t binge or episodes but sometimes . I’m a letter carrier and mostly walk half a marathon a day so I need something to keep my mind clean and distract myself from the monotony of shoving advertisements in tiny door slots or far off mailboxes. I’m drawn to this podcast because every day my heart gets a little cleaner listening to it. I can’t hire a maid to clean up my heart so listening to spiritual wisdom will have to be my path.
Thank you all.

5. Grateful for WOTS and the community, but relentless male privilege is boring - I’ve been a listener and zoomer and community supporter of Wisdom of the Sages for over a year now and I’m grateful for the door that it opened into Bhakti yoga and the divine love of Radha/Krishna. Their requirement to chant at least one round of the astounding Maha Mantra for zoomers opened actual physical blocks around my heart and continues to deepen, in miraculous ways. I am truly grateful and hope my daily practice continues to deepen for the rest of my life. It may really save your life. But a word of warning that reading and hearing ‘by men, for men, about men’ day after day will definitely require you to develop a strong stomach and steady mind. Patriarchy, the infrastructure of male supremacy, was instituted (according to anthropology, archeology, and now genetic analyses) about years ago, and put in place through violence and coercion, sustained through socialization since. The texts and purports are clearly part of the socializing vehicle. I have to keep moving through all this sexist and sometimes openly misogynistic nonsense to get to the actual divine teachings. Deeper, in the more ‘confidential’ aspects we finally find the divine feminine in her glittering form; and it is clearly stated that to worship Krishna without Radha is a waste of time, they cannot exist apart. But these much more interesting teachings are not spoken of much at all. Krishna is reduced to ‘him’ to ‘lord’ and the divine feminine is made his aspect. It cannot be correct that unlike all else in the universe, god is one sided, has only one pole; this is an old trick we see repeated in other traditions to help keep the social order. Aren’t you tired of it yet? I am. It is probably one of the best podcasts you will ever spend your time on, but I sincerely wish the increasingly boring eye of male supremacy could be challenged openly by the crew. It would be so interesting to know how the women of that time, who were stripped of power and rank to become appendages and property, sustained their faith and devotion, and what the female sages taught. We see some, like Sati, who chose to leave rather than stay, I’m afraid that may be the fate of others in this time too.

6. I gave it a try and I’m hooked. - I didn’t know what I was looking for when I found this podcast, I just knew I needed something different to fill my life and mind than what I had been consuming. I was burnt out, exhausted from listening to the news cycle, overwhelmed with hearing blaming, othering, bickering and negativity. I didn’t do any research about Wisdom of The Sages, or the hosts of the show – I just went to the beginning and listened to the first episode. The more I listened the more I heard ideas that resonated with me, sounded familiar to my own thoughts about how to live a kind and connected life, and paths to connect with people who are also seeking satisfied and purposeful lives. For the first time I was exposed to a spiritual path that does not focus on judgment and guilt but instead focuses on love, connection and offering the gifts you have to the world around you. I listen to the show every day, and join the live broadcast on Zoom. Starting each day with a dose of spiritual contemplation is the most effective way I’ve found to keep the bigger picture in mind and approach each day with an open heart. I’m taking my spiritual journey one day at a time and at my own pace but feel more calm, confident and connected to the world than I did before discovering this path because I have the right context for me personally to accept there is a loving force that connects all living things. At the time of this writing I’ve been listening for just over two months, but I feel like Bhakti has been in my head and heart for my entire life. Since listening to that first episode I have focused on changing the way I interact with the world, have been able to better manage chronic anxiety and have worked through some of the worst career related burnout I’ve ever experienced. Outside of the show I’ve been exploring tools to make the time I spend with myself more meaningful, and have deepened my yoga and meditation practice. I’ve been open to connecting with people in my daily life about spirituality and their connection with a higher power. I’ve shared this podcast with some friends and family who are at different places on their spiritual journeys, and who are either dedicated to or come from different spiritual paths. They all find value in the topics discussed here. I think no matter where you’re coming from, at, or on your way to, the messages and discussions shared here have deep meaning and are an important addition to the conversation about our collective values.

7. Best Podcast Ever! - I start every morning with Wisdom of the Sages. The knowledge that is shared has helped me in my everyday life and I truly am happier than ever. It has helped me realize my spiritual path in a way that nothing else has. It is the perfect balance of serious and hilarious and I am grateful to Raghunath and Kaustbha every day!

8. favorite way to start my day - wisdom of the sages has truly transformed my spiritual life and there’s no other way I prefer to begin my morning practice! the sangha (community) I’ve been able to find through tuning into the show live most mornings has been so valuable to my growth and I am forever grateful for the things I’ve learned through Raghu, Kaustubha, and Mara! 9. Listen to this every day :) - The greatness in this podcast is not understood by anything you will can experience with in your material senses(although it is quite relishable like ice cream). It hits you on a deeper level than material words can place. The greatness of these conversations in sharing the wisdom of the sages is that, these vibrations inspires all to work to invite the depthless pool of divine connection into your deepest self. It seems to very often speak to me about something that I am working within myself correlating exactly the conversation on the podcast. The right words at the right time Thank you so much Please except my respects to all that bring this podcast together.

10. Wisdom of the Sages! - Dear Kaustubha and Raghunath prabhu, Expressing my sincere gratitude for all the work you have been doing to share the message of Bhakti in a relatable and approachable way for the modern world we are living in. I’m one of the others out there listening your podcast almost everyday. I started practicing Bhakti as a year old boy living in a small former Soviet Union country called Turkmenistan. I was very fortunate to come across Srila Prabhupadas books in a Muslim dominated culture. Your podcast has tremendously helped me to reintroduce Bhakti in my daily life as I moved to the US and stay committed to the values of our tradition. Now I live in hawaii state and relish your podcast everyday. I think this is the golden age Lord Chaitanya is talking about, mainstreaming Bhagavatam on all the platforms! Thank you so much for your service, Azim

11. WARNING - This podcast will change your life and the way you see it. The things that are talked about in this podcast have the potential to change the world in a radically positive way. I have been listening since Raghu was on the Joe Rogan podcast almost years ago, and the podcast stays fresh and interesting even with the same broad topic every day. Give this podcast a chance if you’re tired of just going through the motions in your life.

13. Finally! A daily spiritual practice that is working!! - I discovered this podcast about a month ago… and I just can’t get enough!!! I’ve started from the beginning and listen to to multiple episodes each day. It’s the healing balm my heart has been yearning for. I was introduced to Bhakti yoga years ago during my Yoga Teacher Training in San Fran. But since relocating to Dallas I have felt disconnected from my spiritual path, my community, and my yoga classes have felt empty and vapid. This podcast is literally changing my life in the best possible way! I feel like I’ve (re)found my people! Also, they make the teachings so accessible and fun. I listen as soon as I wake up, and laugh out loud multiple times each episode as they keep it real and keep it fun! I finally have a daily practice that is going deeper each day and is here to stay. My gratitude is overflowing. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

14. A game changer - I can attest that I am materially and spiritually a better person when I’m actively listening to the podcast on a daily basis, sometimes listening to a few in a row from the back catalog but you can join in from any date. Kaustubha and Raghunath combine humor, life experiences, and spiritual knowledge into a perfect blend that always seems to be tailor made for whatever I might be experiencing that day but I know that it’s relevant wisdom and sage advice that connects with so many of the listenership. Can’t recommend enough.

15. My story - Hare Krishna! Sorry if this is too long. But this is my story into KC, I want to start this off by giving my obeisances. Please accept my humble obeisances to A.C Bhaktividanta Swami prabhupad Ki Jai! Please accept my humble obeisances to Lord Krishna and allow me to follow the devotional path of a devotee. Please accept my humble obeisances to all the devotees of the lord and allow them to continue to the devotional path of lord Krishna. This story is being submitted by Bhakta James Bhakta Chris Hare Krishna, this is how I fell into Krishna consciousness. I was working at a pizzeria back in and I was sorta struggling financially and emotionally about what I want to do with my life and how to become a better person, and while I was working I received a message on Facebook by a (at the time) strange person from Seattle. he messaged me and told me that he was meditating and had a vision of giving someone a Srimad bhagvatam set, he said that he was looking for a person to give the Srimad bhagvatam to especially during the Covid crisis to bring me back to godhead, and he found me on facebook. He reached out and told me that he wanted to donate me a whole Srimad bhagvatam set To be honest I did not Even know what the Vedas was. I was familiar with people like Buddha, Gnash, and Shiva but never really knew the stories in past times of the original personality of godhead. He asked for a small donation, and at the time I did not have the money to donate. He told me that I could donate later and that he would send me the Srimad bhagvatams anyways. The devotee from Seattle Introduced me to the Alachua ISKCON Community. He gave me the number of Nandini Kishori. And right then and there me and Nandini connected. She taught me how to chant, pronounce Sanskrit. The love that she had was unlike any other. After one week the bhagvatam’s arrived and the moment I opened up the boxes, I immediately felt strong energy and was very astonished on the graphic designs of all the pictures. The first day I got the Srimad bhagvatam’s I opened up canto one and right there I started reading. Me and my family, (Mom, Dad, Brother, and me)All went to the temple a couple of days after I receive the Srimad bhagvatams. I was very ecstatic To be going to the temple. The moment we arrive to the temple I immediately fell in love with everything. When we walked up to the temple room everyone was very welcoming they shared stories of themselves and they even inspired me to join the community. We talked and talked and talked with different Devotees and the past times of lord Krishna. We attended the morning service,We went to Nandini’s house and then we went to a really really funny devotee prema’s House and he played kirtan for me and my family. Again, I have never felt so much energy and so much love in one place ever before. Devotees really know how to show unconditional love. My brother started reading Bhagavad Gita and we both started chanting together, me and him have been on a spiritual journey for a while but the Bhakti journey is more powerful and really is the only way out to this material nescience That is pretty much my story. My brother and I joined Krishna house shortly after but the prasadam was a little hard to get used to there. We hope to one day go back and keep on this devotional path of a Bhakta. Thank you to lord Krishna - Allowing me to share my story with everyone. I love all of you and I pray for all the vashnavas to contribute on this devotional path. Hareeeeee Krishna!!! Hareeeee Rama!! Hariiiiibooolll!

16. My story - I was introduced to Krsna Consciousness and bhakti yoga as a freshman in high school, when Raghunath moved into the Philly temple in the early ’s. I would attend Wednesday night program and kirtan at the small temple above the Govindas on south street. I eventually drifted but some basic principals had been introduced to me that would stick. During my (very brief) college career in nyc I ended up working at Equal Vision Records. Part of my job was delivering things to Brooklyn Temple and again I was intrigued, but again drifted. While working as a bike messenger in London in (?) I found a Govinda’s (old school style with the metal trays!) again, I felt comfortable and drawn. And it continues throughout my life…… interactions with devotees and little reminders. A little over years ago a devotee I knew brought me to a yoga studio to paint some signage. A kid I knew from the music scene was working at the desk and chanting japa with some other devotees. These days I’m still a student and also an instructor at this same studio. I’m currently an “other”. Hare Krishna -Dan

17. Hare Krsna - Raghunath and Kaustubha have a simultaneously entertaining and enlightening podcast. They have brought the Srimad Bhagavatam to be accessible to the modern life. There is nothing hypocrital or mundanely religious about their presentation of the ancient teachings. Keep up the great preaching. We are listening. Thank you!!

18. Life changing! - I know “life changing” has become a cliche phrase. But, Wisdom of the Sages actually is. Kaustubha and Raghunath have the ability to take this transcendental knowledge and break it down for simple minds, like myself, to understand. This information they share is like an instruction manual for life. Aside from the daily Srimad-Bhagavatam lessons, WOTS has QA days to answer your spiritual and life questions, retreats and gatherings, and an online community. All of which helps you on your spiritual path. Give the show a listen and maybe your life will change, like many others.

19. Wisdom of the Sages - Hare Krsna! Thank you for sharing this wonderful Podcast of the Srīmar Bhāgavatam and many other devotees.

20. Sage of Today - I’ve grown up with Cappo from a certain point of view. I’ve seen him play in bands often since or . We toured together and hung out a lot. But I’ve never really seen this side of him. I guess I’ve never really hung out with him in a temple. I love how the hosts play off each other and have a ton of respect for each person. I’m not a devotee and I listen every day. PMA

21. A Not To Be Missed Podcast - My days feel incomplete if I haven’t listened to Raghunath and Kaustubha discussing the ancient texts of Srimad Bhagavatam and The Bhagavad Gita. Their energies complement and balance each other out so well and love getting to know Mara, Banke, and little Karuna as well. For me this whole year has been steeped in Krishna Consciousness, with the Satsanga of the folks at Upbuild.com, the daily Gita readings, Japa meditation, and devotion has all just kicked in for me this year. When I heard Raghunath Cappo on Rich Roll’s podcast a few months ago, I started following him on Instagram and then was led to the Wisdom of the Sages podcast which now ties everything together for me on a daily basis - everything I’ve heard, discussed, read, come together for me while listening to this brilliant and incisive podcast. I love all the walk on guests so much as well. Loved Sanskrit guru Nityananda Dasa and the story of the poetic meter of the Damodar Ashtakam (Bhujang prayat - the snake exits)! My sincere hope is that your podcast will go from strength to strength! All the best to you both! With gratitude - Pragya

22. Life saving wisdom - When I came to yoga I was very young, I only understood it as asana poses, meditation, and “spirituality”. With only a very superficial understanding I practiced just that…. Until a great mentor in my life generously put me through a hr yoga cert. through the teachings of a Bhakti devotee! While my mind resisted, my soul resonated I am still learning and still so very ignorant. While my practice fluctuates Wisdom of The Sages is a constant in my life and I don’t know where I would be without it. When I am scared, alone, happy, disturbed I listen to Raghunath and Kaustubha recite the wisdom given within the Bhagavad. Aside from their amazing communication of wisdom, I really enjoy the camaraderie between the two and Mara it’s so very uplifting and I can’t be more grateful to and for the community.

23. Amazing down to earth spiritual advice - All thanks to Raghunath and Kaustubha, for releasing this high quality spiritual education on the daily basis. I original heard Raghunath speak on the Joe Rogan podcast. I started Lessons for a little bit but never true applied the knowledge given throughout the podcast. I stop lesson for a period of time try to cling to my material life. But in the background the message of the Bhakti was changing my heart. I was strongly attached to vaping, marijuana use, and the party culture but the knowledge shared in the podcast made me realize that these things were not bringing me true happiness. Also that happiness will not be found on this material platform. I started lesson again and now lesson everyday. With the help of the podcast and the grace of Krishna I have been able keep my sobriety alone with a vegetarian diet and constant sleep schedule. Thank you Raghunath and Kaustubha. Hare Krishna!!!

I started taking Paramananda’s yoga class during the time of the Covid scourge, met Julie & have been learning SO much thru WOTS!!! I’m on the west coast/ mtn time & love the am PDT time slot so that I am able to watch the show live The insights gained have been remarkable & so helpful. Bhakti sits well with my soul. Thank u for creating this, the love & humor u spread with this medium. I hope to someday become initiated, but for now, getting to know Krishna and struggling to learn kirtan and doing my japa. I love it Happy Karthik!!!!! And many blessings to you grace young from San Diego/ Fort Collins, CO

25. Life saving podcast - Through tear filled eyes I write this review.the gratitude I have and owe these two gentlemen. I can’t define I came to this podcast after my sister told me to listen to Raghunath on the Rich Roll podcast.
She said “ his energy reminds me of you”
While listening to the Rich Roll podcast Raghunath spoke about the godShaped hole… This statement was very polarizing to me… Due to the term God shape holeBeing used as a lyric in two different songs by a band called Wilco… Their lyrics and songs have a very deep meaning to me in my sobriety… So hearing Someone else use that term was transcendent.
I have struggled with addiction issues most of my life. Which I am proud to say I have overcome However several years ago I had a major healthCrisis… This now that I look back at it was a Krishna miracle. Letting me realize how important life is and what we do in our life.
Bhakti to me is the yellow bird I’ve been waiting for I never knew this life was possible Thank you for all you do… Truly grateful

26. Inspiration for the soul - Kastubha and Raghunath's daily study of these ancient texts have been invaluable to my own understanding and adoption of the wisdom provided into my own life and soul. I always thought I could never believe in a higher power, but the truth is I just refused to believe in a God who doesn’t love in a truly unconditional way. Thank you for showing me the light, that God is a blue cowherd trickster who loves to dance and hear me sing!

27. Thank you! - The information and discourse contained in the episodes of this podcast is unimaginably transformative. It’s pure unadulterated truth, I don’t make that statement out of some form of spiritual bias. I make that statement because it truly feels as if each word spoken comes from a true desire to be of service, to help, and to heal. Much appreciation to the hosts!

28. A Game changing pod cast! - My story is a Krishna miracle. I have been told that I am a tortured soul. I exhausted every option to relieve myself of this weight that I carried for most of my adult life. Therapy, prescription drugs, recreational drugs, alcohol, self help books, school (to further my education), hobbies and exercise, gave little to no satisfaction. Anger, pain, depression, sadness and frustration were persistent emotions in my daily existence. The daily yoga podcast called Wisdom of the Sages saved me from a feeling of hopelessness in only a few episodes. Raghunath Cappo is a relatable soul, who delivers an insightful, spiritual message with high energy, humor and love. His counterpart Kaustubha Das is the steady hand and calming voice that sensibly translates purposeful messages. This show immediately transformed my way of thinking. It’s helped me both personally, and professionally. In both aspects I’m beginning to thrive. In two words the podcast can be described… GAME CHANGER! The show will give you a thirst to discover your spiritual path, your dharma. So much gratitude to these two amazing souls. Thank you Raghunath and Kaustubha. Anthony M.

29. Just what the dr should prescribe - I came across this podcast through Rich Roll. While I had knowledge of the Bhagavad Gita I was not raised reading it regularly. Our household believes in Jainism and growing up that was our practice. This podcast has brought me back to my roots. Raghunath and Kaustubha are great teachers. Part of me wants to go to NYC to be in their presence and listen to their lectures. This podcast has changed my perspective in so many areas of life. Everyone should have a chance to listen to this podcast. These teachings relate to everyday life whether it be personal or professional. Thank you for the teachings and getting this out to the podcast world.

2. I love me some KD - Krishna Das changed my life. He pointed in a direction through chanting and off I went searching and a found a temple (Kannon Nichiren Buddhism temple, Las Vegas , NV) here in town. This show has the potential to change your life. Krishna Das doesn’t shy away from being vulnerable and honest and I appreciate it. My only complaint is that I wish the Be Here Now Network would post more episodes. Thank you for all that you do Krishna Das! RAMRAM/Namu Myoho Renge Kyo

3. Thank you, thank you, thank you - By year of dealing with Parkinson’s Disease, the insomnia had drained me. Getting adequate sleep became within reach when I began playing the podcasts all night long: instead of following my anxious mind’s fears and drama, when I awake mid-night, I focus on the calm, wisdom, humor, and joy that’s there in the episodes. Thank you KD, thank you Sharon, thank you Be Here Now folk. You do honor to NKB.

4. Love - I love listening to KD as I’m tucking into bed. Though his talks and singing lull me I never get tired of his sharp wit. He is so funny! I am so grateful for the work he shares, the stories that inspire, and the devotion to healing, tending the heart, planting seeds, all of it. I’m so grateful. For him. For the Be Here Now network, for Ram Dass, Jack, Sharon, Duncan.. for all the people I’ve never met but gave me the tools to open my heart and see my true self. I love you all so much, thank you.

5. keep singing - Love. All One. Devotion. Become inspired to ingest syrup for your divine soul and break open that cloud of darkness and gaze into brilliance. The knowledge is imparted in the mantras and answers will appear when your conditions are ready. His life as a depressive, I can relate very much to that storm. Grateful for the wisdom shared here and around the globe. His retreats are incredible and highly recommend experiencing those as well this lifetime.

6. keeps it honest - You never once get the impression that KD is putting it on or trying to be anything other than himself. From someone who has suffered greatly from addiction and depression I can really identify with him. So many spiritual teachers shy away from delving into any kind of darkness and pretend that it doesn't exist. To know that someone is willing to keep it real in this day and age is hopeful. keep it up! my favorite on mind-pod network! I have been able to feel neem karoli baba's grace thru his music and has transformed my life for the positive.

1. Breath of fresh air - Never have I heard of Mahabharata version this unbiased. Lawrence’s style of storytelling is realistic and indulges human curiosity on the ancient tale. His wonderings, comments and question are something which emerges in our mind from time to time as well. This is breath of fresh air and something that all should listen as well. As I say there is no epic that is far greater than Mahabharata. If it were to be made in movies, we see Game of Thrones and Lord of the rings like saga on big screen.

2. Wow. Just wow - Lawrence Manzo has created a great podcast which gives an excellent tour of the Mahabharata. This perhaps is the easiest way to approach the unabridged Mahabharata today. The amount of work done to pore through the old English translation, since the Chicago editions only go until Book , shows that this podcast is a love of labour.
2021-06-06
3. Best podcast on Mahabharata - Absolutely great! I can’t stop listening to the stories even though I know most of the stories and it’s multiple versions. I don’t have words to explain the beauty of this presentation that’s capturing all the details and keeps it entertaining and easy to understand.
2021-05-15
4. Fantastic podcast - I’ve loved this podcast a lot. Despite the long length of the epic it’s narrated and paced so well you can fly through it. The narrator does a great job explaining the context of events and strange elements of the text. I cannot recommend this enough. Thank you for taking the time to give us this story.

5. Phenomenal Podcast about the great Indian epic! - There are two great Indian epics - The Ramayan and The Mahabharat. As a kid, I have always been more inclined towards the former than the latter as I found it more interesting only due to the fact that I didn’t know or fully understand the intricate details of the latter. I started hearing all these stories from a friend when we used to smoke up by the beach. Being a Game of Thrones fan, I started seeing how great a story the Mahabharat would be if it was shot in GoT style as a web series. I was searching for all the material I could get my hands onto for the entire story in detail - that’s when I found this Podcast. I really appreciate the time and effort you put into making this content Lawrence. It is definitely the best Podcast available on this amazing epic. Thank you!

6. This is it! - I was always enamored by this epic since childhood. Have read, heard, watched the stories and they have stayed with me in fragments, remembered some forgotten most. I landed on this podcast accidentally from Sudipta’s “The Stories of Mahabharata”, haven’t gone back to it yet. I am on the th and feel so satisfied with this narration, it’s the way I would love to hear, great work Lawrence Manzo you dug it all and served the best!

7. Fantastic telling of the Mahabharata - He does such an amazing job of explaining the Mahabharata and the characters. He also does a lot of history and back story to help things make sense as needed through that Mahabharata. He also explains how other books tell the story in comparison. This podcast was incredibly helpful for understanding the story fully!
2018-07-02
8. Tremendous effort - Great effort by Lawrence in doing the work and making the Mahabharata available in the form of a podcast. I have read multiple renditions of the Mahabharata and watched most of the cheesy serials on Indian TV. I must say that there’s series of podcasts was most engrossing. There were some interpretations that were questionable but that’s the beauty of this epic. I’ll probably go back and listen to all episodes again.
2018-05-15
9. Great storytelling - As a young hindu trying to make sense of our epics and their evolution, this was a good start. Great storytelling and commentary. I like how he places mahabharata in the context of actual historical events around the time it was purported to be written. There's also some commentary on inconsistencies between different versions of the epic. I wish the narrator talked a bit slower though. Considering the complexity of this epic, it takes some time to digest what's happening. Here's a tip:
Replace regular rakshasas with indigenous forest dwelling people (adivasis), main rakshasas with tribal leaders, supernatural exaggerations and over the top origin stories with political propaganda, and it makes total sense as history written by the victors of a certain ancient war fought on the Indian soil.
2017-08-30
10. Fantastic narration - This is a great podcast for anyone looking for a Mahabharata refresher. I grew up reading the epic as comics and wanted to go back for a refresher and this was perfect. The narration is brilliant, ties in the many side stories beautifully and most importantly, I love the irreverence! Listening to it as adult makes me see it differently and the narrative aligns. Thank you and hope you consider doing more of the epics.
2017-06-19
11. Highly engaging - Despite being Indian and having grown up on stories from the Mahabharata, never had a chance to consume and understand the epic in its entirety. Manzo does a terrific job in highlighting all the interesting aspects of the epic along with commentary on ancient culture and social norms. Loved it..

12. Must hear !!! - I was always very interested in this epic, and always thought that I know full story.. but still hearing your podcast repeatedly gives me many new insights, and only realized there are still many sub stories that I did not know before. This was a wonderful treatise for me.. This was my drive time hearing. non-stop…. Thanks again… Ramesh L.

13. Excellent Exposé - if you have been a nominal believer in Hinduism up to this point, fasten your seatbelt, because you're going to find out some things about Krishna that may going to shock and dishearten you! But you might as well face it. This narrative is excellently told and I recommend this podcast for anybody who wants to go through the Mahabharata.
2015-05-02
14. Well researched and very well presented! - I always felt that Indian epics have so much to offer in terms of moral values/ethics when compared to most other options/books. Yet, as a parent I never found good sources to gather the stories in their entirety so I can share with my kids with a strong backing. Word of mouth used to be the common method of getting story glimpses during my childhood. Perhaps, growing up, I never felt motivated to read a huge book than as a parent. Mr. Mayo has done a wonderful job of searching the true sources (which in itself is a mammoth task) , researching them and presenting the gist of the epic in a concise, clear and complete way. This has given me a motivation to go back and read other related books on Mahabharatha. Kudos to Mr. Mayo and I am certain he is on his way to Devaloka!
Looking forward to other similar podcasts like Srimad Bhagavatham and Ramayana from him, which are considered safe for sharing with Kids too..

15. Great narrative, thoughtful questions, deep insight - Mr. Manzo may just be performing his swadharma through Lord Krsna's grace. I love listening to his commentary, and his style of narrative is easy on the ears, as well as the mind. My only disagreement with him is on some of his personal opinions of Lord Krsna, especially during His early ears with the Gopis and other women of the village of Dwarka. Lord Krsna is in all of us, including the husbands of the women of Dwarka, and therefore, the story needs to be interpreted corrected there. Regardless, this is a fantastic podcast.

16. HUGE help if you're just curious about the Mahabharata - I'm sure this podcast wouldn't do for an in-depth study of the Mahabharata, but Manzo makes the thing fascinating. The Mahabharata feels like listening to a wild, over-the-top Iliad or Odyssey . . . the epic patterns are there, but the authors were not afraid to throw in magical plow-shaped weapons that shoot fire and also swords, because those things are awesome.
In some ways, Manzo reminds of "The Bible Geek," Dr. Robert M. Price, who also has a knack for retelling ancient myths and legends with modern language thrown in there to catch you laughing every once in a while. When Yama, the Lord of Death, told the distraught young wife watching her husband die, "It is a great honor that I have come myself, for I would normally send a servant, but your husband is very virtuous. I have come myself to collect him, so step aside and watch me do my thing," I literally laughed out loud. It's also nice that Manzo often says what I'm thinking about how some characters' behavior strikes my modern western ears as outrageous. I'm about halfway through the episodes, and Manzo mentions at about this point that he was considering a Bhagavad Ghita podcast next. I don't see it here, but I hope he does it. I'll listen faithfully.

17. Superb ! - Dear Mr. Manzo, I was introduced to this podcast by my brother and he said he listens to this while his marathon runs ! and I took it up and in less than months, I am done with episodes and it is fantastic ! I really love the way you explain this and this podcast has been my companion during my Gym, Since yesterday I am searching for something new and similar :( Unfortunately You havent come up with a new one.. May be time to start a new one - Bhagavat Purana or Ramayana may be a good choice Thank you once again and All the best on your new project
