1. Amazing book and completely reccommend - I love how descriptive this book is. It is one of those books where you can just imagine the characters and it’s as if you are there in the story. I have seen the prime series that is based off this book and even though there are lots of differences, I would say that the book is better. Personally l, I think that all of the books in this trilogy are very good and I completely recommend reading them. Once you start reading, you get sucked up and can’t stop(in a good way though)!

2. I am surprised!! - I didn’t expect much from this book if I’m being honest. My friend recommended the series to me first, and after I watched it I just had to read the books. I’ve only read the first book but I highly recommend it. It isn’t inappropriate and it’s a very realistic story of a summer filled with love and family pain. Thank you to the author Jenny Han for creating another great series than I’ll love forever.

3. The summer i turned pretty - So many mixed emotions, I saw the show first which is why I decided to read the book. Personally I think that belly should’ve gone for anyone but Conrad the end really got me in my feels i though it was going to be cam cameron but overall if i could give this a / i would

4. Ummmm… - Honestly, i had such high hopes for this book after reading some of the reviews and i totally think that’s on me for my whole interpretation of the novel. I can’t help but feel sort of empty and disappointed after reading this even though the ending was probably the best part (for me). I enjoyed Conrad and Jeremiah as characters, they really off set each other as brothers nicely, it was almost like i could see them and their attitudes so vividly. Their mother too, Susannah was such an inspirational character and i loved how she was depicted throughout the whole story. Though I’m slightly disappointed because honestly, I wanted a cheesy romance and instead feel like i got a story % about a random boy Belly was never even “into” just to make her real love jealous and it all just sort of felt like nothing was told? No point was ever made or no progress was gained? But somehow that’s also fitting for the story since in the end, Belly can’t help but feel like she wasted her summer on the wrong things too. The story itself symbolizes a lot and reached me in ways I truly didn’t expect it to. The message i got out of it was definitely worth more than some cheesy romance which I actually appreciate. Somehow though, I’m wishing that this story was a standalone with just a more developed ending and shorter “Cam Cameron” scenes. Just my preference. Finished it in one sitting, I think I would still recommend though because I really enjoyed this author’s writing style. Just don’t go into it with any assumptions because this book may not be what you’re expecting.

5. Love love love - I’m not one for reading books but I saw the series and fell in love with it and saw that people were saying “If you read the books you would be team …” so I thought I would give it a try. Finished it in days. I love the lay out of the book, not long chapters and you just want to keep reading. Very well done. Can’t wait for season !

6. A Newfound Gem - As someone who is a big time romantic, I absolutely loved this book. I heard about it from my friends who had read the book because of the show. The teen drama, the average family conflict, and the romance, I read this book in one sitting, not wanting to put it down. Belly, I found her particularly relatable, especially in the aspects of how she dealt with her romance and what went on in her mind. Such a wonderful summer read, I’ll definitely revisit this feel-good, summer teen novel.

1. Tragic Truth - This story has many elements of familiarity from my life experiences- my own and friends. Eden’s self destruction was challenging to read at times, but realistic. Unfortunately, I have never seen the type of familial, friend, or even law enforcement support in real life that Eden ultimately receives, but this is balanced with the hard truth of all the “maybes” at the conclusion. A good read that reminds us that there hope can survive even in tragedy.

2. well executed - the start to finish was amazing i've never read anything so well put together regard the topic of rape and how it affects not only the victim but also the people they are around. i would've liked for the ending to be elongated but i get the happy end trope. i would recommend to anybody who's interested in monologue.
2022-12-28
3. Gut wrenching - This book although fiction represents how majority of rape victims feel. It is definitely not easy to report when these things happen because the victim often feel like “the bad guy”. That being said, I applaud the author for showing the readers the realistic transition that Eden made from being the girl that was afraid of the word “rape” to being the girl who was facing her fears head on. P.S where can I sign up to get a Joshua Miller???

4. The Way I Used To Be - This book is one of my favorite books I have ever read. It gives you a heart touching experience of Eden and her troubles. I would definitely recommend the book to everyone. I just am blown of how well the author wrote the hook, and liked how she told it in parts. It gave me a great understanding about how much a problem can impact your Life. Thank you!

5. The way I used to be is the perfect title for this story.. - This book was astounding.. the way it breaks down every emotion this character feels throughout her high school journey as she tries to recover from something that shatters her entire world. Wonderfully written. I felt so many emotions and even some tears shed after this. Highly recommend.

6. Loved it! - This is such a good book! So well written and really captures you when you’re reading. I swear I cried like twenty times reading this but it had such a good plot I was totally hooked from beginning to end. I was a little frustrated at the end because I wanted more since it sort of left off with a cliffhanger.

7. Wow. - A friend recommended this book and I’m thankful she did! This book is so interesting and detailed and just written so perfectly. It’s hard for me to find a book I don’t get bored with or try and skip some pages cause it’s boring, but not this book. It had me reading til am and sometimes I wouldn’t sleep! Trust me it’s a MUST READ

8. Great read but felt unfinished - I think the book should have been a little longer or have second book into after she has finally revealed her secret a lot is about to happen we want to know if she goes through a trial, does she make amends with her friends, does she get her life back on track, is she able to have a healthy relationship with someone?(wish she would give Josh a chance)
2017-06-05
9. Amazing! - I had this book sitting on my book shelf for a couple months so I finally just picked it and started reading.. and never stopped! I read the whole thing in hours. Truly amazing read. It doesn't need one but if there was a second book about the aftermath I would be overjoyed! I would recommend this book to everyone! Books like these make me wish i had more friends that read so I can have someone to share the experience with..

1. Written by an year old - This book (all three books actually; why I finished I don’t know) is by far the least interesting, most obvious, boring and poorly written book I’ve ever read. Also “belly” (gosh that’s such an annoying nickname) is the most expectant spoiled desperate brat and treats everybody like crap. I will never read anything written by this author again.
2022-11-09
2. Wow! - My heart is torn for Jeremiah but I still feel happy for him because he found someone! I know him and belly didn’t work out because there was someone else for him. She loved Conrad and that’s why it was so hard for her to pull away for him. Because when u love someone all you want is to be next to them and urge to be noticed by them, so they could say “wow she/he is really perfect!” I love how Conrad knew he messed up but did everything in his will to try and make it up and Conrad it definitely worked!! Thank you Jenny Han for making my heart splattered with different emotions and new heartfelt moments! This is truly made a perfect book for me!

3. Boring to me - So, I bought the books after watching the show on Amazon prime. I was honestly really disappointed. I struggled through them. I just got really bored with the characters pretty fast and everything was so predictable. Belly started annoying me and the books are pretty short. It would be a series for a teen though. Maybe I’ve just outgrown this type of book over the years, idk.
2022-08-18
4. I’m Disappointed - I was so excited for the final book in this trilogy - so excited to dive deeper into each character. As soon as the marriage plot was “developed” I checked out. It’s like someone told Jenny Han she had a week deadline. I can’t imagine how they are going to adapt this to screen because it’s truly awful. I am not the type to leave a review but I was so sad - I felt a need to. The ending was rushed and made no sense, it almost defeated the entire purpose of the previous two books. Sadly this series was a waste of my time. It had so much potential!!
2022-08-05
5. Phenomenal series! - This book was insane!!! I could not have been more shocked at how it started! The ending was a little predictable, but not at all in the ways I thought it would be! Therefore the book still kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time! You have no idea how utterly thrilled and ecstatic I was when I saw the first chapter in Conrad’s POV! Finally for once we get to know what he’s really thinking! So much pure and genuine love, and grueling heartache throughout this book. All I can say is I’m glad I’m not Belly! I’d die of a heart attack before making it as far as she did! But all in all. This entire series was amazing from front to back. I loved it so much I finished the entire series in days! (Might’ve been less tbh, I can’t really remember when I started, but I know I flew through these like nothing else!)

6. We‘ll Always Have Summer - This is one of my all-time favorite books. I definitely cried during the ending and it was sad to feel the heartbreaks. SPOILER To be honest, I really think that Belly made the right choice on choosing Conrad. I know that Conrad did some bad thing in the past, like shutting people out but it’s all because he wanted the best for his family and not himself. Jeremiah on the other hand was the opposite. He was sometimes egotistical or full of himself. He had his times when he was sweet, but think about it. Did he actually really care about Belly? I would have believed him if he didn’t go and cheat on her with Lacie. But of course Jeremiah did. My personal opinion is that Conrad was only stubborn sometimes because he was always giving the affection and care to everyone but himself. Jeremiah gave his care and affection to the ones he only thought at the moment. I would never be over with the fact that he cheated on someone else and you would still want to marry him. Anyways, I really think that Belly made the right choice and went for Conrad instead of Jeremiah.

7. Didn’t like the ending - Spoiler but she honestly should get with the first brother I feel like the author forced the st brother to look good again and be like but oh look he’s doing it cause of his dead mother and the author had to force the whole cheating but not really with the nd Brother just so we won’t want her with him and ending the wedding day if are you stupid but yeah she did treat him like second choice and the ending proved it but hey somehow she hot both brothers even though she sounds dumb

8. An adult reading YA - I need to preface this by saying I’m a year old woman, not a high school teen. That being said, of course there were flaws in this series, a few inconsistencies that stuck with me-maybe a little too much-but overall, it was a fun read. The writing style was fluid and elegant, making for an easy and light read. The character development was wonderful. I loved watching them all grow up, really seeing every step. Belly was a character you could relate to, could love, but could also disagree with. She was raw and real. She made selfish mistakes, but don’t we all? Jeremiah- he was redeeming in almost all ways. He was kind and full of life. Ever fun, ever loving. I hated the uncharacteristic mistake he made, I didn’t feel like it make any sense. But the way he was brought to forgiveness, I felt it was very accurate. It was very much a terrible mistake a kid in college could make, and he felt remorse. He gets a lot of complaints for being so immature. At the end of the book though, he’s only ; he IS young, he is immature. There are so many years for him to grow. I adored him from start to finish. Conrad was different. He was broody, and by far the most self-serving character in the story. If he wasn’t happy, no one could be. There were hardly any redeeming qualities. He did love with his whole heart, those close to him. He just loves himself a lot more. I hated his character as a love interest, but I loved his relationship with Laurel after his mom passed. I could see him as a great friend, just not the partner for Belly. All this being said, I feel like Belly choosing Conrad was a very inappropriate mistake. Especially in a book for young, impressionable readers. Conrad was manipulative, emotionally abusive. He should not have gotten his way, no matter how much Belly loved him. She loved Jeremiah too. It felt forced that she picked Conrad, like Stockholm syndrome almost. The good guys can win, and we need to teach our daughters and sons this.

1. Comfort book for sure. - Charlie's story is similar to my own. months after I turned my family and I ended up living in a tin shed. Things got really hard and I, like Charlie needed to cut my darkness out so I did. Things have slowly gotten better but I still struggle. Anytime things get hard I return to this book, its familiar pages. I will always return to Charlie and her story in hard times.

2. A Perfect Book - I absolutely loved reading this book! It’s raw and beautifully written. I think every woman of teenager and up should read this. This story connects to you so deeply, I’m just at an awe of how opening the story was to my eyes. Thank you, thank you for such a well written story. I am grateful to have read it.

4. - I loved this book because it was raw.. an honest, disturbing, real story. A story with ups and downs, setbacks and achievements. It was real. I loved how her and Riley’s relationship was portrayed, not cliche in the way most are, but transparent. If you’re looking for a book that’ll motivate to do better this is it

5. thanks for this :) - This book really did something for me….I’m really struggling right now and it seems like no body on earth can comprehend anything I’m going through like their ignorant to any negative emotion I feel but reading this made me feel like hopeful or something like eventually I’ll figure my life out I guess….anyway this book is amazing gave me something to do in this dark hole I’m in right. I’m glad I found this book.

6. I love the title because it gives it to you straight and gets right to the point - One of the most beautifully written books I’ve ever read. I read this book in days because I was unable to put it down! This book was realistic and showed the ugly parts of being human and how hard it can be. I will hold this book close to my heart and more then likely go back and reread it. I % recommend it for anyone who loves to read and loves the truth.

7. Girl in Pieces - This book touched my heart. Self-injurious behavior is all too common in our society and often misunderstood. The potential and resilience of people, despite their depreciative tendencies, should never be underestimated. Everyone deserves a chance and the opportunity to experience genuine kindness.

8. So good - This is one of those books where you cry as you heartstrings are pulled, but wipe away the tears as quickly as you can so you can keep on reading. I wish everyone had a chance read this book because then maybe people would have more sympathy for others and greatfullness for what they have because the life Charolette lives in really shows us what pain is. We all need some good tears like the kind that this book holds in its pages.

9. Absolute Must Read for Everyone - This book is a glimpse into a very difficult and terrifying way of life for some of us. My daughter struggles with this mental illness and I have never bothered to reach out into this subject out of fear. This book is comforting and educational in a way that you can understand their reasoning in their minds. As I finished the book in the final pages I cried because to me my daughter is the most beautiful thing inside and out and I am so very proud of her struggles and successes but I just never understood how someone can be so lost and not able to defend themselves against themselves. Now I have a glimpse.......

10. Heart wrenching and beautiful, will stay with you long after your finished - Kathleen Glasgow has handed us her heart within the pages of this book. In this chilling reality which so many people live. A girl lost in her own skin, not knowing who she really is or if she can survive and back away from the edge. Charlotte is broken, she has no one left to fix her, to put the pieces of herself back together. She is on the edge and about to fall over. As I read page after page, I realized I was not reading a simple book I was privy to someone's innermost thoughts. I could feel the sorrow and angst rolling off of Charlotte. The bitter pain of not having anyone left to turn to. The cool smooth glass as she rubbed it between her fingers. I could feel the ridged bumps of scars upon scars as she ran her hands over her arms. It all but ripped my heart out. Every word written upon the page felt alive, it felt as if the story was a deep ocean swelling with emotions, crashing down on the reader. I felt the raw honest devotion poured into each individual character. I love the way the book is written, how it starts off short and poetic, giving us a taste of how it must feel to be inside Charlottes mind. Then it blossoms into a rhythm that envelops the reader in the bumpy road of self healing Charlotte takes. Charlotte as a character embodies the very thing people wish to ignore, she is an in your face wake up call without having to say a word. She fights for herself, even when she thinks she's failed she is still fighting. That is the best message anyone can give is to never stop fighting for yourself. No matter who left her behind, No matter what happened to her. No matter what got in her way and once again shoved her to the ground or caused her to fall back into old habits, she took a look at herself and decided to change and change she did. She proves that no matter how far you fall you can always get back up, as long as you never give up on yourself. Kathleen put so much of her heart into this book I would swear it became a living thing. Thank you for sharing yourself with us. I was given a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review, the words above are my honest opinion of the book. My review has not been altered or affected by the author

1. AMAZING - I loved the first book but honestly i think this one was even better. There was so much emotion and turning points and you could feel what Belly and Jeremiah were going through. I read this book in three days it was that good! I am team Jeremiah so I has happy with this ending. I will forever recommend this series!

2. Book for middle schoolers - This book (all three books actually; why I finished I don’t know) is by far the least interesting, most obvious, boring and poorly written book I’ve ever read. Also “belly” (gosh that’s such an annoying nickname) is the most expectant spoiled desperate brat and treats everybody like crap. I will never read anything written by this author again.
2022-11-09
3. Love the series but a bit underwhelmed - As soon as I finished the Amazon prime adaption of the summer I turned pretty, I had to read the books and find out what happened next. I flew through the book but I felt like I kept waiting for more to happen throughout the book. I wanted there to a bigger moment between Conrad and Belly or even between Jeremiah and Belly.
2022-07-21
4. Wasn't my favorite - I think this series really shouldn't be a series, I really liked the first book but her constantly saying she is over conrad but then he smiles or something and she's back in love again? like please commit. Also her love relationship with jeremiah came out of nowhere and it didn't flow right. The whole books plot was just carried on for too long.
2022-06-27
5. Felt like a Roller Coaster! - Wow. I thought the first book was filled with drama, but that was NOTHING compared to this one! So many emotions, so much guilt, yet so much hope and possibility! The ending was not at all what I expected, but I wouldn’t have liked it any other way. This book felt like a roller coaster! And I absolutely LOVED when the author would change POVs.

6. Cheesy, u can see everything that's gonna happen from a mile away - This books was so disappointing, and don't let its esthetically pleasing cover fool you. It boring and everything that happens is no shock. Don't bother with any of the others either. This book shouldn't be three it shouldn't even be a whole one. Very boring and disappointing. Lame.
2017-07-07
7. Life Changing - I have read all of these books about times each. I'm , and they literally changed my life. I can relate to everything - Susannah is just like my aunt, who also has cancer. She's like a mom to me. The struggle with Belly and her heart breaks are so real.. I wish there were more than three books. These are incredible. If you haven't read them, you haven't lived.
2013-09-06
8. Simply Amazing - Sarah Dessen. That's all that use to come to my mind when it comes to books. This book changed that thought. This series is so good and will have you fly by it, you'll be surprised. I couldn't put this down and finished in a day!(: I loved and will always love this series and Jenny Han! MUST READ

1. Amazing! - A beautifully written look into the world of the fey and the delicate balance between the feys mischievous nature and the steel willed and loving characteristics of humanity. I imagine this is exactly what Faerie is like and this book series scratched an itch i have been reaching for for a very long time. If you love a strong femine role, a dark prince, an unassuming love story, a beautifully built world of magic and mountains to overcome, and folklore all raveled into one then this is the series for you.

2. I’ll toast to this series! - An incredible final book to end the series. After taking us through a wild journey filled with twists, turns, and brilliant page-turning adventures, Holly ends it with a well-deserved drink for the characters. I didn’t expect to fall in love with this series. Only took one week to read them all!

3. Yes yes yessss - This book was amazing and in fact the whole series had me entrapped! I love the characters, they are built so well and stay true throughout the series! Jude and Cardan’s relationship was so heartwarming and fun to see it unfold. I think the only thing I would’ve liked to see more of, was of Jude’s connection to the land. We see it a couple times but I would’ve loved to see her use it more effectively and shown us her capabilities. Overall this book was amazing and I am truly sad to see it end.
2021-10-22
4. Queen Jude - I really liked this series! I loved Jude’s journey and appreciated how strong she was. She went through a lot but she got through it all. I enjoyed how everything wrapped up. He sister finally stepped up and supported her (even though she really only reached out because she needed something from Jude but I guess…lol). Cardan finally played more of a role in the book which I enjoyed. I do wish we got Cardans POV. Jude was so negative about him that I started questioning why she liked him too lol I also wish Jude had actually fought her dad. Or at least have Grima Mog fight him. But overall this was a solid series. Maybe a little too overhyped IMO but still worth the read

5. Don’t recommend /: - This would have been better with more spice and character descriptions, but also the character development was slow then suddenly very fast. The ending felt rushed. Don’t read anymore if you don’t want spoilers. Since Jude has spent so many years aware of the tricks in riddles and vague language from faeries—she’s always quickly realized the scheme in different words/promises UNTIL the last part of this book. So it bothers me that she suddenly lost her intuition in regards to that. Again making the ending feel rushed. Overall I’m disappointed and probably won’t read anymore from this author.

6. My fave book to reread - It doesn’t matter what is going on in my life, this book (and really this series—but especially this book) are guaranteed to make me feel excited, happy and just ready for more! I cannot express how perfect this book is to me and how wonderfully all of the loose ends from the other books in the series are tied up. These incredibly unique characters, this fantastical place and the story are my fave place to be.
2021-04-15
7. Holly Black is Everything - It started slow, but you can look forward to an unpredictable plot (except for the very end but I’m glad it turned out the way it did) and Jude’s cleverness, which propelled the story to new heights. Characters are redeemed and relationships flourish. A solid trilogy. I will miss Faerieland!

8. This entire series was a blast! - I throughly enjoyed all three books. They were entertaining and a new twist on a fairytale I hadn’t yet experienced. The way the author writes and portrays character growth throughout the series is wonderful and my heart skips a beat even now, just thinking about the love story told here. Jude Duarte, is a fierce, strong, brave woman to behold and Holly Black is nothing less for being the one who imagined her.
2020-12-28
9. I’m Pleased - I LOVE Carden. I love his story, the way he speaks, and his personality is so well constructed I started to feel like he was someone I knew. I tend to read books with strong female leads and this series had just that. I love Judes resilience and her strength. The whole series and plot was amazing I really enjoyed reading this one :)
2020-06-19
10. Just not it sis - I was really into the first two books but when this came out it felt rushed and underdeveloped. The characters got even harder to like and all the explanations of why the things that happened in the last books happened were boring, predictable, and as I said, rushed. The end was suppose to be kind of this big finale but it was easy to predict, pretty random and quickly resolved. This book actually made me kind of dislike Jude and Cardan’s relationship. And every other relationship(like those of the sisters) was kind of a side thought and really didn’t do anything for me. Overall, it’s an okay book to pass the time but it’s really not worth spending more than five dollars. I really regret waisting my money on this book.

11. Couldn’t put it down - I have always been a big fan of Holly Black and this book is no different. I love how she really shows the duality of her characters and focuses on how complicated choices can be. Her deep understanding of dysfunctional families always amazes me. I read the entire thing in a day! Plus, always nice to have some cameos of other beloved characters.

1. Wow - This book is truly amazing! I saw it first back in late August early September (some time before it was even released) and wanted to read it! Fast forward to now, and I am sooo happy I did. It opens your eyes to a lot of things that we may not witness in life, but are real problems that need more awareness. I started a book club and this is one of the books I had on the list, I hope everyone loves it just as much. Such a brilliant author and I can’t wait to start reading her other books! Enjoy :).

1. It’s pretty good. - So my librarian at my school knew I liked this type of genre. So she recommended it to me. It just has some great horror aspects to keep you guessing. I mean maybe a book cus of the deception of killing people but Sure if you like horror and you go ahead. I really enjoyed it /.

2. An existential crisis, but make it cool - Nothing like a great YA book to make you examine our collective mortality. This book was absolutely fascinating and is perfect for anyone that wants to explore a genuinely realistic utopian future. This book is wonderfully paced and I am deeply satisfied by the character development across the board. I feel so full of ideas and appreciation of life, I wish there were more books like this!

3. Deep and enjoyable - I liked the theme of death. Unlike many other YA books that train assassins and consider it a “cool job. Here there were a moral code and willingness to kill with no remorse was actually a problem. It was very quotable. Not much of a character development but that wasn’t the point either. I liked the various third POV’s we saw. It was an enjoyable read in overall.

4. Idea - You should think about making the arch of the scythe trilogy into a movie or two, I think it would be a great idea. I loved the book especially the part were Rowan breaks Citra back, b/c he did it to look on purpose to most people including Citra her self keeping her from helping him in the rest, SPOILER ALERT , My next favorite part is when Citra becomes Scythe Anastasia and punches Rowan to give him immunity, Ingenuous! like The high blade sad, enough deniability to make it hard to dispute if she purposely gave him immunity.

5. On all three books - I’ve read all three consecutively, the first book is a strong novel. The story is based on a great premise with a well defined world. It ends in a way that leaves you wanting more but satisfied if it never continued. The second book (Thunderhead) is a bit of a rollercoaster as it starts well enough, letting us learn where and what characters are doing but throws some surprises and leaves you sad but hopeful. It ends in a way that you know there’s going to be a third book. That third book (Toll) is disappointing. Neal Shusterman writes with a political undertone unnecessary to the story and absent in the first two. While the world remains interesting and cool, the writing feels rushed and blunt. It ends okay, but the ride to the end is unsatisfying. Overall, this story (all three books) is simply okay. The premise and world is fascinating and cool but the execution is subpar. I believe this is the main reason why not everyone knows about it.

6. Amazing! - Wow! Just wow! I had no idea that this book would be as good as it is. Citra and Rowan have been offered positions that anyone would be crazy not to accept in their immortal world. The status of being a scythe, or an honorable reaper of life, to prevent overcrowding. Little do they realize that as much as they don't want to accept the apprenticeships, their roles have become a necessity. The twists and turns that accompany their journeys keep you turning pages well into the night and the next day. I read this book in two days. It's impossible to put down. So good.

7. Very good - An interesting utopia. Most futuristic books portray AI ruling as bad. This book showed the benefit of a non human ruler. I enjoyed it, has a lot to do with death, shows the cost of a perfect world like this. The scythedom reflects human nature. It becomes corrupt, no matter how noble it started out as.

8. You need to read this book! - Probably the most amazing book I’ve ever read! It’s an amazing book that I’d say is recommended for or if you’re mature. I watched some book reviews on YouTube about this and everyone who did one said it made them think. I agree with that. In a perfect world with no death, sickness, or diseases, how would we end up? I love this so much! And I especially love the main characters Citra and Rowan. They’re both super smart and sweet, genuine people. This book is filled with unexpected twits and turns. I % recommend!!

9. I can't think of a title - I read this book in around a week, and really enjoyed it. The concept at the core of the story is immensely creative, the worldbuilding is practically flawless, and the sense of tension lingers through the plot's many twists and turns. While I very easily immersed myself in the world Neal Shusterman has created, the two central characters weren't very memorable, and had very little chemistry. The journal entries of various Scythes places in between chapters add variety, serving as both a breather when the tension begins to peak and a look further into the book's world. Overall, Scythe is a unique, thought-provoking dystopian thriller that will stick with you long after reading.

10. Absolutely amazing! - This is one book I couldn’t put down and found myself thinking about all the time. It provokes some real thoughts and contemplation on death and the what if scenario of a world that has defeated death while still being highly entertaining and not too heavy handed on these ideas. If you want a good read, I’d highly recommend this!
2019-06-04
11. Adults POV - As an adult and after reading the introduction to this book, I was afraid I wouldn’t follow or like it. But because I love this author I kept reading. I was hooked by ch . I love dystopian fiction, and this without intending to be I think, feels very much that way. It’s unique and tender and brutal and imaginative and suspenseful. I really really can’t find a book I haven’t liked from this author!
2018-08-01
12. This is probably my favorite book I have ever read - This book is awesome you never will want to put it down. The first pages is slow but then they start to get good. You will love this book if you like dystopian books. I and starting right away to read the thunderhead. I will recommend this to everyone I know. Keep reading!

1. I love this book SO MUCH! - I’ve read this book countless times, and no matter the “end spoiler” it doesn’t change it. The author Adam Silvera wasn’t looking at the end, but caring about the wonderful plot. SPOILERS (sort of) ! It’s heartwarming, queer, mysterious, dark, and beautiful mixed into pages. Totally recommend. I know I’m a little late to the comments, but I LOVE THIS BOOK! My favorite book so far.

2. i am inconsolable - everyone in these reviews didn’t seem to enjoy this, but i really loved this book. they both die at the end really connects you to its’ characters in a short time, and gets you sappy and emotional while you read. the whole time you’re left thinking “man, i sure hope this title isn’t true!” it made me sob, and reading it again a nd time really shows you how much detail was put into this book. definitely recommend!
2022-08-24
3. huh. - i think im the first person to not care for this book. no hate to the author at all. i didn't connect with the characters very much and it started really slow. wasnt a fan of the ending, seemed very rushed. so much lead up to a page ending. i guess its so popular because it was trending on tiktok?

4. Read this book NOW! - Where do I start… multiple POV, love that. There are a LOT and every single detail is important. Imagining this world isn’t difficult— it’s so similar to now, but everything and everyone seems to be ruled by death. The detail put into this book… I regret letting this book sit for so long in my TBR. Really, truly, PLEASE read this book. I struggling to find words. This was nearly an instant five star read for me.

5. Powerful Book! - This is by far one of the best books I have read in a VERY long time. It’s such a powerful book! It did cause a wild dream/nightmare about knowing it’s my last day. It really makes you think about how short and precious life is and how you should live every day to the fullest with no regrets because it could be your last. This book made me happy, sad, nervous, and everything in between. I totally cried at the end and it’s not often a book has such an affect on me. I never wanted to put this book down and I was sad when it finally came to an end. I have a new favorite author. If you’re a book lover, I highly recommend you check this one out. I promise you won’t regret it!!

6. I love it so much! - This book is absolutely one of my favorites! The story is great that you end up feeling very connected with the characters. And throughout their time together, the anticipation of knowing whats gonna happen continued to make me finish the book. I really recommend this to anyone who is thinking of reading, definitely worth it!

7. “He lived for everyone” -Mateo - Tears blur my vision as I write this. I cannot tell you how hard this story drop kicked my emotions into a boiling pot of pure misery and stirred it up while laughing. It was beautiful. It was devastating. Call me dramatic, but you aren’t the one still sobbing after finishing this work of art. My heart is shattered, my eyes are puffy with hurt. I’m reeling. If you have any doubts about buying this, let this be your sign. But don’t say I didn’t warn you.
2021-09-20
8. Couldn’t stop reading - Although the title tells you how the story ends you can’t help but hope that the author is lying. The characters are developed really well and I loved how he kept introducing the different connections everyone had throughout the story. It really put into perspective how one small thing you do in any given day can affect multiple people’s life’s. The story makes you question how you would react if you knew when you were going to die and I feel like the authors purpose was to remind you to live your life to the fullest every day because you don’t want to have any regrets on your last day. This is one I will definitely be recommending to all my fellow readers and will probably now go and by a paper copy to add to my bookshelf
2021-09-10
9. Bland writing:/ - I really like the concept of the book but the writing was very average. Also the relationship between the two main characters felt a little forced. A lot of irrelevant characters that had almost nothing to do with the MCs got they’re own chapters which didn’t make any sense. I didn’t really like it at all.
2021-07-31
10. Absolutely Astonishing - This book honestly brought me clarity. Even though the title spoils the ending for you, it’s not about the ending it’s about the same way they lived before dying. And that is some what similar to real life. We all die in the end, but what’s matters is how we lived our lives. We shouldn’t be worried about how it ends , because no one escapes death. Just gotta say though I loved this book and will definitely reread again.
2021-07-04
11. Missed potential - The book introduces a strong and unique world with seemingly relatable and likable characters, but doesn’t do much to flesh out many of the core elements that make up the story. I found the world to be the most interesting element of the story, and the book does very little to touch on it or expand on its inner workings. The characters are well-developed and have many touching moments together, but I found that the book just missed out on many of the unique concepts that it introduces, and because of that, feels more shallow than it could have been.

1. Five star? More like twenty star! - Spoiler: When I was four or three and when I found the book in th grade, I couldn’t stop reading! I just loved Chuck was willing to help his friends! To bad he died. Kinda glad Tarisa died though. Not so much about Newt. I loved how some of the girls where related to some of the boys, and they made counter parts of them in the second book. I was confused why Tarisa kissed the counter part of he in the second book until she explained. Glad she died :)

2. Between & stars - I’ve always loved this I have read it like times and it never gets old and the movie is awesome too I do hate a

3. This is the only book I have ever reread more than once. - I seriously cannot get enough of this book and the whole series. When I thought the first book was great, the second book got even better. There's never a dull moment in the story, which I love. The connection I felt with the main character was amazing also, and I got hooked from the beginning.
2022-02-21
4. Horrible series - I ALWAYS finish a book but the rd book in this series’s I didn’t finish. The first book was ok, the second book was bearable and the third book was horrendous. In the first book it felt like the author was trying to make you connect with the characters but when some of them died (I won’t say who) I felt nothing I was not in the least bit sad. The second book was basically the same thing as the first one. So don’t waste your time. DO NOT READ THIS BOOK!

5. This book is fantastic!! - I could not put the book down it was so amazing!! I’m a huge maze runner fan and even tho I watched the movie so many times before reading I still learned so much and it left me in shock so many times! So if you have watched movie or not totally give this book a try it will % surprise you

6. - K SO I LOVE THIS WAY TO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!! / would recommend! So I had to read this book for a book report, I’m not one of those people who hated reading. The Maze Runner like is the thing I’m most obsessed with now. At first I was a bit confused maybe like Thomas, but I read more and I got hooked. I would read for hours. Like I read half the book in hours. Soon I finished the book and I got sad cuz u know what happened at the end if you read it already. And I need to say my favorite character. MY FAVORITE CHARACTER IS.......... NEWT! Of course. I don’t even know why I just got attached. If he died I would be heartbroken. Like really heartbroken. Like empty feeling. K bye! Have a nice day!
2020-11-29
7. AMAZING! - I just want to say that this is the best book series I have ever read. I didn’t even know how much I was into science fiction/dystopian genre until I read the Maze Runner and became obsessed with it. Reading this book actually made me want to become an author myself because of what you can do with all the creative storylines and basically the stories you can create. And now I’m actually an author myself, about to publish my first book. This is the best book ever, if you’re looking for an intense book that won’t let you stop reading, I highly recommend this. I love it
2020-10-28
8. Sage - I loved this book! The author really knew what the audience wanted when he wrote this book! So much mystery from Thomas’ past that made him unsure about so many things! By the end of this book, I was completely hooked. I also definitely recommend the next books of this series. R.I.P everyone who died so the ones who survived could have a chance. P.S. I don’t like spoiling things for people so I didn’t say names
2020-09-02
9. Phenomenal book! - I read this for the first time, since I was getting bored, and I wanted to try some new series. Dude, this book is so intense! It had me on the edge of my seat the entire way! HIGHLY recommend this to anyone who wants to try a new series! After you read the books, watch the movies.

10. Incredible!!!!! Great book!! - I don’t know where to start. There are so many positive things to say! This book is incredible. I’m so happy I read this! Definitely one of my favorite books! I’m just really sad Chuck died.... the kid sounded so cute. It’s depressing. Overall, I’m on love with this series. Great job James Dasher!!! I’m in love with this series!
2020-05-23
11. The Maze Runner (TMR) - This is the best book I have ever read in my life. Please do a lot more like this, and I hate Teresa. That liar, she went into the maze WITH memories, sorry I spoiled it from TFC (The Fever Code) TMR is the only thing I love for, please, please whoever is out there and is a TMR fangirl tell ME! I am lonely, I worship this book alone. This book is our future, James Dashner is a genius unlike a lot of people. And I vote that people should have more respect for us Fangirls, because this is our future and once covid nineteen takes over we will know how to hide ourself from it. James Dashner is a god, and deserves the greatest respect of everyone in the world. I suggest reading the whole series, times in a row like I have done. This series is the only good book series (or book) in this stupid and annoying world. LOVE TMR!!! I was only six when I started to read it, and ended it two days later because I had finished the first book. I knew just by the first sentence, that this book would change the world, and anyone who says it was dumb or they wasted their money, don’t listen to them, they clearly have no clue what an amazing book is, so FONT listen to them, they clearly don’t know what life is and why we were born. We were born to read The Maze Runner. But do NOT read page of The Death Cure.
2020-04-24
12. One of my favorite series! - Maze runner is an amazing book that I would recommend to anyone looking for a great book to read! I’ve fallen in love with the characters and wish they were real. I’m so happy I read this book it was totally worth it. Even though one of my favorite characters died in “The Death Cure” I still loved the book. So buy it, believe me you’ll love it.
2020-04-15
13. The Best Yet - This book is amazing. I have read all books in The Maze Runner series and I loved them all so much that I read them again. And again...I lost count after a while. It’s just so easy to get attached to the characters and the plot! The moment I read the first sentence, I knew this book was going to take me on a long adventure. I couldn’t get my nose out of it...I had gotten in trouble a few times in class because I was reading it. (I had the physical book version at the time.) Then came along The Scorch Trials...wasn’t a big fan of the movie but the book was epic. I believe that I have spent my time and money well with this series and I cannot wait for what James Dashner has for us in the future. Once a Glader, always a Glader!

1. My new Favorite Book Series! - I absolutely LOVED this book. I’m usually not one to read “sappy” love stories or anything like that, but this is a game changer! It was beautifully written and really made me fall in love with Lara Jean and Peter. It is DEFINITELY a worthy read. When I finished the book, I went straight to Netflix to watch the movie, which was sooooo good as well! I’m going on to read the second book in the series which is also really good so far!

3. Great book - I love this book so much. I love the dynamic between Peter and Laura Jean. This book had some romantic bits, some great sister moments, and even some funny moments. Kitty is so funny and I love how Daddy is only kind of in the loop! Margot and LJ’s relationship is just so great. How LJ looks up to Margot so much, and how much they mean to each other. I would defiantly recommend this book, and I’ve already read is multiple times! Great job Jenny Han!!

4. I. Will. Kill. My. Self. If. U. Don’t. Write. Another. Book. - This was such a good book that I don’t think I’ll ever get over it if you don’t write a series. I will never ask for anything again I swear. There better be another one coming. Anyway, to sum it up, it was the best book I ever read.
2019-02-10
5. Loved it!!! - I watched the movie before reading the book, but I think that the movie is way better than the book because the movie shows how each character looks like.Anyway,I really like this book and I hope there is a second and a third book/movie!!! I would be really grateful if there was a tenth book/movie!!!

6. Can’t wait to read the next!! - Honestly, this is one of the best books I’ve ever read. My absolute favorite. I love how relatable the characters can be to the reader, it feels like you’re actually there watching it all happen! I bought this on Thursday and I could not put the book down! Great job! I can’t wait to read the next one!

7. In love... - The movie and the book are unbelievably great! I love that there’s more representation in this movie. I think the world of movies are finally getting fought for. I love that about this movie. I’m not an Asian American, but I am African American. I can’t wait to see what Jenny’s up to next. I also can’t wait for there to be another possible movie this one! Congrats Jenny! Much love and God bless!

1. Absolutely hooked! - I’m astonished, really. I’m only on page and I already want to read more. I, for one, have a hard time reading if the book isn’t written a certain way. If it’s too confusing for me to read: I lose sight and stop reading. I, personally, might have depression (getting therapy soon to see if that statement is true) and definitely have anxiety. I relate a lot to mc’s reaction to the whole scenario. When I get anxious I revert to sarcasm to sort of help me “get a grip” of myself. Though I’m not as harshly blunt as mc, I am more humorous than anything: I relate to being a “negative Nancy”. This book made me realize that I’m not the only one who uses negativity as an advantage of some sort when anxious. Anyway, I should probably shut up now.
Bye bye!
2022-10-23
2. Pretty Good - I thought this book was really good. Even though I couldn’t personally relate it gave me a glimpse of what others may go through regarding arriving the therapist/staff there as well as the people/kids with you. I also love how the author went into detail about the other characters without being too long or too boring. I also love the relationships/friendships between the characters (I personally love the little friendship with the young girl and him.. it was sweet and all around great) I am a person who loves reading but I can only read books written in a certain way, meaning the author kinda needs to write the book as if it was the main characters dairy almost (if that makes any sense) Honestly this was a kinda boring book until chapter which might sound intimating but the chapters are really short, around - pages long, and that’s when things get spicy and I really couldn’t put the book down after that point, I really was glued. And as always they - the author - made the details short, sweet, and detailed.
2021-12-31
3. I have others like this…. - I can totally relate to this book. I suffer from depression, and i get kind of crazy when I’m near my crush…
One time, when I was in fifth grade, I ran across the whole playground times chasing after my crush. I’m not sure If anyone in the book is homophobic, cuz I’m still debating. My therapist says if I keep acting like a psycho I might actually be one, and when I told my girlfriend, Zoie just sent me the song sweet but psycho, she said this is what they meant. Well, I need to learn to shut up for once. Good bye
2021-10-28
4. Pretty good, but - This book was very interesting, and i ended up reading it in one night. my main issue with it is that things happened in the plot of this story that would absolutely NEVER happen in an actual psych ward. I’m gonna keep this spoiler free, but a lot of things just don’t make sense. why would there only be five kids in a psych ward? why was there super minimal security? why did nobody prevent certain things from happening? this is a facility that’s job is to rehabilitate mentally ill people, why are the patients not being thoroughly watched and protected? strange.
2020-04-29
5. Loved it - Idk I can go on a huge rant and bring up specifics as to why I love the book but in general this book just made me feel and that’s a good thing in a book. The feeling that it gets you in. I also wanted to note that I liked how the author gives you nothing about the main character at first and even throughout the book because then your mind just fills in the blanks and you just kinda start to relate with him more.
2019-08-08
6. I thought this would perhaps be about actual chronic depression - It turns out that SPOILER the guy is just extremely embarrassed because he’s gay and kissed a guy he shouldn’t have kissed. I was looking for a book about somebody who can actually relate to me rather than somebody who’s just embarrassed/sad. He didn’t want to kill himself because he didn’t think he deserved to live or couldn’t live with the constant pain; he wanted to kill himself because he was embarrassed. Personally I believe it wasn’t very well written either.
2016-01-25
7. Relatable! - I can relate to this spectacular book because I was sent to the same type of hospital. Alot sounded familiar, and I found it humorous how closely accurate some of this boom was! I also really loved the different stories of each if the characters, and how Jeff's sarcasm brought many laughs throughout reading. This book is funny, as well as something that can pull on your heart strings a bit. There's some sudden events that you don't really expect to happen that are quite shocking and memorable. Overall this book is great to anyone trying to figure themselves out, anyone suffering from depression, and really just all "moody teens"! stars for sure!

1. Trevor and Everly's new normal. - I can't tell you how excited I was to read this book. I absolutely loved Boys Like You, and I was super excited to read about Trevor who played an integral part in Nate and Monroe's story. I must say I wasn't disappointed, and certainly very impressed with the story and its message. Trevor and Everly are an unlikely couple thrown together after Trevor awakens from the coma he was in. Trevor was on top of the world; he was popular, talented, and going places. Everly was the preacher's daughter, a good girl, who knew the difference between right and wrong, and was happy with her life. Of course the Trevor and Everly that meet now are nothing like the people they were before. Both of them have new realities to face that are causing them significant distress. It's what allows them to really see each other for the first time. I have to say I loved how the stark reality of both Everly and Trevor's situations were presented. In Trevor's case I loved the details provided regarding what a person with a traumatic brain injury experiences. Knowing that information made relating to what he was going through and feeling so much easier to understand and relate to. In Everly's case I had a feeling I knew what was going on and it was devastating to see her struggle so much with her mother and her father. I really wished the situation with her mother had been handled differently. It really felt like their roles were reversed and it was too much for Everly. My heart broke for the entire family and what they were facing. I loved seeing Nate and Monroe again. It was good to see them in a better more upbeat light. I must also admit I loved seeing the change in them as much as I enjoyed seeing Trevor's father in a different light. The man I met in Boys Like You was not someone I liked a lot, but one I understood. The man I saw in Some Kind of Normal was phenomenal. He was supportive and loving. In fact both of Trevor's parents were wonderful. I really do hope Juliana Stone writes more about not only Everly and Trevor, but maybe about Taylor, Trevor's sister, or Everly's younger brother. Juliana Stone does a great job at bringing her characters to life and making their problems seem like your own. I always feel destroyed by the end of the books but also slightly smarter and more empathetic towards what people might be facing. After all we're always trying to strive to be and project we're normal, when reality might be something different.

1. SOOOO GOOD!!! - This is such a great book! The author make it seem like this really did happen, which is not easy to do in a book. It makes you feel just like Melody! You feel frustration, her anger, and her excitement. When you read this book, you truly feel like your in another world! Read this book and you won’t regret it!

2. awesome - I read this for a children’s literature class and I’m really glad I chose to read this book because it sends a very important message for children around the middle grades. i’m not a very good reader so the grade level that this book is for was good for me and it was easy to read for me

3. I LOVED IT!!! - This book was so good!!!! I want a movie version of it too! The main character Melody is awesome: don’t let that jerk Claire get you down; you’re smart and great and she’s just mean, Mel! I loved that there’s finally a book about the struggles of not being able to talk. I have never read a book like that before; they hardly make any books about characters who cannot speak. It was really good, but thee were some sad parts (like the sad story of Ollie the goldfish), so I recommend for ages or . Great book!!!!!!!!!!!!

4. Out of my mind - I love this book because it teaches you about people with disabilities.
I love Melody because she’s brave, kind and inspiring.
I wish there’s a movie about this book because you can go more in depth in the characters life.
If there was a movie, I would love to portrayed the character Melody because she’s inspiring and interesting.
I am a blind person and sometimes things can be challenging like doing math, but I get through those challenges.
I know how Melody feels because not being able to speak and say what comes to your mind is difficult and challenging, just like doing math with your eyes closed is challenging as well.
I would recommend this book to anyone because you can gain more knowledge of disabilities.
Would give this book stars.

5. I Love This Book - I have to say this was the best most emotionally empowering book I have ever read. I loved this book so much I read it a second time to get a better understanding of this. This book dives into the details of what it feels like to be an Special needs (especially the ones who unfortunately can’t talk). It helps you understand what is feels like to be Melody and what she goes through in her day to day life. All the way from physical limitations, her not being able to be as active, or functional. What she feels like, when ppl mistreat her, or assume she’s as dumb as they think she looks. And all the way to here mental state, when ppl don’t understand her or don’t give her as good of a chance as other kids. I will admit this book will make you smile, cry, and probably want you to punch someone (at the end of the book). But other then that this book helped me rlly understand what It feels like to be in Melodys shoes. And it rlly made me rethink how I think of the disabled. I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did, and I also hope you can find the true meaning of this book.

6. Masterpiece - In th Grade, my teacher read this book to us for read aloud. At first I wasn’t excited because I thought it was about a fish that jumped out of water. But I almost jumped out of water reading this book. This book is so emotional and you end up rooting for all the characters. It was so heartwarming that I cried when melody said she loved her parents for the first time. I have read this book times now and each time I notice something different. Thank you!

7. This book is the best! - Hey everyone! Kwaynni here, and starting today, I am going to be a book rater. I love reading books. They are amazing. So, I am going to tell you about Out Of My Mind. My first review I wrote about this book was short and sweet. But I am going to go into further detail. ( WARNING: This review will have spoilers, so skip to paragraph six if you want to know overall how good this book is. ) The main character, Melody Brooks, suffers from cerebral palsy. A medical condition that doesn’t allow you to do most things that other kids can do. Which is really really sad. The people who wrote low on this book are just like Claire and Molly. They didn’t take a deep dive in this book. They just took one look at melody and were like, “yeah this is trash” but what readers really need to know is kids are just like kids with disabilities, which is the main message of this book. The storyline is perfect and I’d also suggest it to kids who have disabilities, cerebral palsy, and other things. Sharon M. Draper did a good job on this book. It is great for book clubs. Melody's experience in life has her ups and downs, she is the smartest kid in her class but no one knows it. She has a photographic memory and remembers everything. She is mistreated by people. Like the time her mom took her to the doctor person, and he said she is physically and mentally disabled. Which made her mom cry. It's really tough. Melody is misunderstood and just deserves a chance. People need to be aware that kids with disabilities have feelings too. Claire and Molly are the kids who are mean. They plot against melody and want her to fail. The most saddening part in the book is where the whole class left her behind when they were leaving for the competition. They came in ninth place. They would’ve won with melody. Overall, Out of My Mind is a wonderful book, it can be a tearjerker at some times, but it's all revolving around the main concept and the moral of the story. A kid with disabilities is just like other kids. You just need to get to know them. This book is a five star. . Everyone who rated low on this book, I suggest you read the book again. Because I don’t think you read the whole thing. Don’t be Claire and Molly. Read this book. I know you will enjoy it.

8. one of the best books - this is by far one of my favorite books, if you are looking for a book to read, this is the one. i couldn’t stop reading it so i ended up reading it in two days!! i really wish this book could never end, i want to learn more!! and the best part is, it’s based on a true story.

9. Outstanding yet pretty sad - This is my favorite book. I won’t spoil, but I just couldn’t believe what happened to poor penny. It was very intense. She was soo lucky. There r so many devastating events that melody went through, but she stayed strong. It would be nice if Sharon would write another book similar to this. Or maybe one continuing the story of melody. Thanks a lot for giving me the chance to explore Melody’s world as a special ed.

10. Unfinished? - This book was one of the best books EVER! Melody is so smart yet in the end she is still not excepted what sense does that make ? In my opinion if I was the author I would’ve at least made the ending a little happier. SPOILER ALERT: the team leaves Melody behind and isn’t even sorry I’m not saying that the ending has to be all happily ever after but the ending was just depressing . The book was still great it taught you that don’t judge someone by how they look (otherwise known as DON’T JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER) Overall the book was great just felt unfinished. WARNING you will cry, laugh, and want to punch a couple of the characters, also question how the principle is a principle Lesson: PEOPLE ARE PEOPLE NO MATTER WHAT

1. It was soo good - First of all, I want to say that I read this book in a day, aside from the first look. This book wasn’t always very easy to read, but it was very powerful. Honestly, it made me feel for immigrants and Muslims in a way I’ve never felt before. This book pointed out so many problems within our nation including racism against Muslim people, domestic abuse, drug dealing, and injustice in the court system. Sabaa Tahir’s writing style made the book feel even more emotional than it already was. All throughout the book, I could almost feel Noor, Sal, and Misbah’s pain and it was heartbreaking. Sal was an especially interesting character to me because while he made so bad choices, he also made some very selfless choices that weren’t easy to make. Noor is honestly such an amazing character. She is so incredibly strong and hardworking. I look up to her character so much. Overall, I think the plot of this book is great and I would definitely recommend you to read this book.

1. Impactful for adolescents and young adults all around - Chbosky writes an enthralling book that really taps into the mind and spirit of youth. Not afraid to shy away from important messages of trauma and abuse, you really feel for all characters involved, none being one dimensional, but fully realized and lived in people. This is a must read book that can enjoyed by just about anyone.

I plan on watching the movie afterwards and I’m so excited to find out what happens next! I started reading it on a Tuesday and now it’s Sunday and I’m on page ! Crazy!!!

3. / - I watched the the film a year ago and right after watching it I bought the book on my phone, I didn’t get to read it until a few days ago. Not because of some technical issues but simply because I put some tasks off, my point being, every single sentence I feel deep within my heart, Charlie is a wholesome character and his story as a whole is mesmerizing. I’ll recommend this book everywhere.

4. Breathe taking - I absolutely love this book. After watching the movie multiple times I finally read the book and felt just as great about reading it as I did watching it. But the book helps me understand Charlie and the things he’s going through so much more and I love him for being so honest even when it’s hard to understand.

5. Clssic - If you watched the film and now want to read the book you will be very joyous with the experience. This book is amazing and provides so many details into a young life. There are all the important details from the film and many more to help develop the story. I have always been someone to read a book after a film so my hopes aren’t to high, but even if you are just reading this for fun or just because it’s a great choice. It is such an easy read with the letter format used and truly feels personal. I enjoyed this book thoroughly and this is one that I have reread multiple times both with my paper copy and with this digital one.

6. teen essential - i’ve read plenty of books but i always come back to this book no matter what. i found this book in the th grade and i’m now a junior. this book was a very real and accurate depiction of mental illness i could relate to. the story telling and chbosky’s writing was amazing. i seem to fall in love with this book over and over and i always feel so empty when i finish it. it made me cry a lot, but a good kind of cry. i will always treasure this book and i feel like it’s an essential for anyone to read.

9. Charlie. - In order to read this book you have to understand the feeling of being alone. You have to understand what it's like to be an outsider and know what it's like to watch everything in life happen to you. It also helps when you understand how mental illnesses work, but once you do this book will open your eyes in so many ways. This book is truly beautiful. Charlie has a brilliant mind.

10. The book that made me feel I'm not alone - My favorite book of all time. There's no frills or anything actually amazing about the story itself, but the way you feel when you've finished is not able to be put into words. It's not a book for everyone, but if you feel like you're different, alone, emotional, or you just feel things more than others, you need this book.

11. A great read for all ages - I feel that everyone could have interpretted the meaning of this book in a different way, and could take what they wanted from it. Hopefully, it helped you look at your life a little differently by the end, like all great books should do. I just don’t know how much of a revelation it was considering the “lesson” it was trying to teach has already been spoken about. But all in all, I thought the book was really good.
2016-08-09
12. SO. GOOD. - This book is my favorite book for a reason. After reading it, not to be cliché, but I definitely feel that I looked at the world differently, and at the subject of mental disability differently. I understood feelings more and honestly I think that a truly good book should change the way you see things after you read it. The plot and characters were developed splendidly, it has a couple plot twists but still maintains its realistic manner, and is overall a book that I would recommend to everyone I meet.

13. Still by far my favorite book - This is my all time, absolute favorite book. It is so engaging, and so unique. Unlike many young adult books, it is not corny at all, but very realistic. You feel like you're literally in the book, and it really opens your mind and think about the world differently. I connected so well with this book, and I have yet to find one comparable to this. Btw, sorry my writing is bad, I haven't read a book in ages!

1. GOOD READ! MUST READ! - Granted I haven’t read a book in years, but this book peaked my interest so I said whatever I’ll read it. Maybe I can start reading some more, it’s good for the mind and the soul, plus it sounded good. And let me tell you, good was an understatement. This book is relatable, funny, sad, and a happy read all in one. If you have ever lost a loved one, you will feel for characters. If you ever were a little anti social in your teens, it’s like Miles is you, walking through the hell we call our high school days. As well as if you wreaked havoc as a rowdy teen, there’s a place for you in it as well. And the philosophical questions in this book... don’t even get me started. All in all, I feel different about many aspects in my life after this book. Mr. John Green, you are a genius. Enough said.

2. Wow. - I have noticed how many of the reviews are criticizing this book for use of language, drinking, smoking, and sexual content among teens. But I urge you to look past this and pick up this book anyway. It was amazing. I was caught up in the mysterious Alaska and the witty humor of the book, and I could not help but think of what a spectacular writer John Green is. Worth a read!

3. Beautiful book and great read! - By far one of the best books I’ve ever read. The story is natural, realistic, and fun. The dialogue is intriguing and eloquent but simple and flowing. I think the best part of this book is how easily the characters are able to relate to the reader and also he details and descriptions of people and scenarios. Just subtle things. A quote from this book actually brought me on to the read. I’m sad I read it all. Highly recommend.

4. bayside taxi - The title of this review has little to nothing to do with the actual review. i just saw it on the back of the car while thinking of what to title this and it seemed better than anything i could think of in the moment. i would first like to say that i loved this book very much, yet i would like to know if the death of Alaska Young was in fact suicide. I appreciate knowing what happens to the characters after her death, and i know that a book ends and the characters no longer exist. you know what happened, or maybe not. nobody is even reading this. John Green will never read this. this has no point. pointless. yet this is helping to tell my feelings to someone other that my mother driving me down the road. i am hopefully going to attend a boarding school next year and hope my experience is / as great as this book.-alabama reader/ no one really

5. Terrible character build-up and no plot - This book was a serious disappointment. John Greene, has no character feelings in any of his book. You can't put yourself in the character's shoes. You don't feel them. It was so predictable, too. Come on, it's John Greene, of course it's a love tragedy. But it made no sense at all. Pudge was so lost in a fake love, that he lost himself through it. He was in love with Alaska's appearance. Yet, you couldn't feel the actual connection between them AT ALL. nothing. Seriously, of course alaska's gonna die. She smokes, she drinks, she's in a car, drunk, at night, what do you seriously expect? There was so little character build-up, that you didnt feel sad when she died. Did i cry? No, what the heck. Nothing. Totally disappointing. For goodness sake, pudge barely knew alaska, and the only time that he truly was connected to her was right before alaska's phone call to her bf. Seriously? Pudge is so desperate and obsessed! Many parts of the book was really inappropriate and too much. This was trash. Don't waste your time.

6. Wonderful, Exciting, Deep Read - I read John Green’s Looking for Alaska as part of a school English class. Overall, it is a book with many facets. On the surface, it is a teenage novel that follows the adventurous life of a high school junior named Miles “Pudge” Halter as he begins school at a new boarding school called Culver Creek. When one looks deeper however, it exhibits the author’s expert ability to incorporate important life lessons into a casual and easy-to-read story line. Additionally, the novel seamlessly changes its tone and theme throughout the story to reflect the mood at that moment. Therefore, the reader essentially gets three stories in one: a teenage lifestyle/adventure novel, a tragedy, and a mystery novel in one.
While reading this book, the reader experiences a wide variety of emotions. The reader can also appreciate the clear transition of theme and tone. The book expertly demonstrates excitement, sadness, love, hate, and many rich emotions that the author is able to expertly capture using his rich vocabulary and impeccable sentence structure. Additionally, this book impacted my own life. Since I am a teen reading about teenage lifestyles in a novel, I can easily relate to this novel. The book makes many assumptions about teens, but they are often correct. Alaska Young famously says, “I may die young, but at least I'll die smart” (Green). This quote exemplifies the teen values demonstrated in the novel. This book is excellent in a mature school setting due to its relevance. In older novels, students can analyze symbolism and grammatical structure till their eyes glaze over, but they often cannot relate to the ideas in those books. In Looking for Alaska, the same amount of symbolism and complex grammar exist, but the concepts discussed are more relevant to today’s minors.
On the other hand, even though the story is great in many ways, it does, like anything, have its drawbacks. For example, the book seems to be very predictable. For example, the novel is structured around a single, plot shifting event. While the event itself was unexpected, an immense amount of foreshadowing made other, more insignificant events very predictable. The only other drawback to this novel is some of its content. The novel suits teenagers perfectly, but may be inappropriate to other ages. The topics addressed in the book include sex, drugs, alcohol and pranks with some serious life questions and violence involved. Therefore, while the book is ideal for its target age group, it might not go over well with younger children. In the end, I thoroughly enjoyed this novel, and even with its shortfalls, John Green’s debut novel is one to read and remember.

7. Phenomenal - Another excellent John Green novel. I purchased this after reading the pages iBooks offers for free. I have no regrets in my purchase. This story is heartfelt and inquisitive. It's beautifully written (of course) and impossible to put down. Although the ending still leaves me with many unanswered questions about Alaska, I am thoroughly satisfied with the entirety of this story.

8. amn.k - Well done John Green! Another amazing book. The character (The old Man) reminded me so much of my professor Dr. Ian in university. Same subjects about traditions, founder figures, etc. I felt I was in the classroom again. I miss his class, it was on of my favorites and I learned so much from him. : pm/ July th

9. Amazing - I'm someone who doesn't like reading a whole lot. I'm a year old guy and I enjoy other activities than reading. However, about weeks ago I was on a hour flight and decided maybe I should give this book a try. It was the greatest thing I've ever read. It's an amazing novel with a moving story. If you haven't read this, I highly recommend it to anyone! It totally changed my opinion on reading in general. I loved it

10. Looking For Alaska Review. - I have read Looking For Alaska with very high hopes, and my high expectations were met with more than I expected. I was looking for a great perhaps, and I found it. This is about Teenagers searching for the meaning of life; and they found both the great perhaps and the way of the labyrinth. This book is truly a great book and I would recommend it to anyone . :)

1. Still Relevant - I think every teenage girl should read this book. I read it the first time when I was . I have recommended it to every teenage girl I know, and now it’s time for me to give it to my teenage daughter. The content is a tough read but that’s the point, in one way or another we can all relate to “Alice”.

2. Not what I expected or wanted, but ok - At first I thought it felt a little inauthentic. Like it’s a book about drug use but the escalation is insane. It reads like a cop pretending to narrate the life of a drug dealer.
When I looked up the book and found the author was a psychologist, it really all made sense.
I was hoping for a relatable, nuanced book but this was not that. It felt like thinly disguised anti drug propaganda.
Also the ending sucked.
With all the negatives out of the way I kind of did enjoy reading the book, but more so to hear how a psychologist thinks the reality is, compared to what I know and what I’ve gathered from others.

3. Ask Alice - I read this book all in one sitting in less than five hours. This is by far the best book I've ever read without a doubt! Being and an addict myself, I can honestly say that this is the most accurate book I've ever read dealing with addiction. Anyone that is struggling with addiction or just casual drug use, should read this. You will instantly be pulled in if you know the struggles of this life and not want to stop reading. This was an eye opener and definitely a life saver.

4. Not for younger readers - This is a very eye opening book. I read it and originally was going to have my year old daughter to read it as I thought it would show her the dangers of experimenting with drugs and what could happen. However, after reading it, I feel that the content is too mature for her at this time perhaps she can read it in another year or so. Sadly I won't be able to have this in my classroom library as it will be inappropriate for the grades I will be teaching. I would recommend it for high school aged children though.

5. She would have been a great person to know - I personally don't think she intentionally overdosed given how happy she ended her diary... But who knows. Three weeks is a long time to not express ur feelings and stresses. Especially since she had had this diary as a kind of psychiatrist for so long. I would have loved to read more.

6. Go Ask Alice…????? Tragic and True - Okay read.. True Life… for real life experiences??? Majority of Teenagers experience this everyday- drugs, bullying, feeling left out and parents are sometimes blind. Overall, Go Ask Alice is definitely a great book for adolescents to read and use it to open themselves up for advice. Makes me sad that this poor girl thought she had the perfect family but noone knew what really was going on through her mind.

7. Go ask Alice - I love this book. I hate reading, but I could put this down! I love that it's her diary, and her difficult journeys she stumbles upon. Life experiences through out the book. Makes you mad, sad, happy and all! I read this book years ago. And it's still my favorite book. I recommend it to teens mainly.

8. If you are out of high school, don't buy this. - Unless you are analyzing this book for an assignment, it is not worth the money. Regardless of whether this book is real or not (it's not), it is a poorly written piece of propaganda. For a book that claims to be an actual diary the author did not try very hard to be credible. The subject matter is easy to read regardless of how it is written, but if you are out of middle school, and even high school, I recommend picking up a different book. This is ridiculously stupid. If you are -, go ahead and read this, it will shock a naive mind just like as it is intended to.
2012-12-30
9. Ummm - There is no way in hell that this is a real diary. This is a something Mormon woman trying to scare kids off of drugs. You are telling me that a doctor would give a year old child TRANQUILIZERS? Or that everyone is raping everyone all the time? How did the and year old get an apartment? I was pages in and knew this was bull.

2. A must read - I recently bought this on iBooks. First, I must say, wow. Laurie Halse, you did an exceptional job with writing Speak. I can relate to Melinda. I empathize with her. She’s in a tough situation and it’s really hard to figure her way out of it. It was a good book because it teaches how hard it is to be a survivor of rape. I highly recommend it, especially to teens. Thank you for writing this, Laurie Halse.

3. Moving, emotional, worth it - I read this book when I was , after my aunt gave it to me as a gift. Once I started reading it, I could not stop. This book is heartbreaking, and brings up very important topics that teenagers should be aware of. I’m forever thankful that my aunt gifted me this book, for I probably would have never read it. It’s so important that youth reads books like these, ones that hurt to read, but teach a good lesson on life. I’d recommend this book to any age group, but especially teens.

4. Speak - I completed reading Speak nearly a month or two ago. I found it highly emotional, intense and fairly graphic. I must admit that I was disappointed with the poor wording. Also, it was very slow; I would not categorize it as a book “I couldn’t put down”. I respect the positive message of this novel, however it was simply not well-written and not the best book I’ve ever read. It was decent, but for me personally, was a bit too deep.

5. A book to reread - This summer, for school I was assigned to read Speak, a book that I had already read in fifth grade, but had no problem with reading again. This book is absolutely heart wrenching, and completely outstanding, it was written perfectly, and depicted Melinda's feelings of depression in such a realistic way. I am so glad that i reread this book, because it allowed me to take in even more of this fantastic story.

6. Inspiring - This is an amazing novel. If I could put more than stars, I most definitely would. Mel, and her story should be an inspiration to all young girls like my self. I did not read this amazing novel on my electronic device, I read a paper back version. All young girls and women should read this inspiring amazing novel. I love this book.

7. A Must Read - I loved this book. At first it started off a little slow and I had a hard time trying to figure it out, but at the end of the day, the message is what matters most about this book. I cannot relate to Melinda personally, but I know that it’s not just rape that can silence a girl, or any person, really. Speak reminded me that I have a voice and that I can use it, and I should never stay silent. It sends home a powerful message and is a great read. Boys and girls alike should put this at the top of their “must read” list.

8. Best book ever! - This book was amazing! I couldn't drop it for a minute and I loved everything about it including the beginning, middle, and the end. Even though it's a little long I read it very quickly because i was very interested and into the book. Definitely recommend this book to teens. Sad there is not a sequal/series.

9. Great - I had to read this book in my english class and i think this book is very inspirational, and it really conects to a lot of teens these day's. and I would recommend this book to everyone. I'm so glad my teacher made us do this. I don't usually like to read a lot but this book really turned my tables. Awesome book. Surely a must read:{-)

10. Something one can relate to - This book, crafted around the social hierarchy of the public school system, simulates the operatically tedious and dismayingly anguishing life of the average student; it gives a cerulean, crystal-clear conception of the sequestered lifestyles of the out-crowd and those who are considered in exodus of the social hierarchies that have made themselves known in the school system. This is a book I believe everybody can engage in. Another book if your interested I'm this on or book like this is "Nineteen Minutes" by Jodi Picoult
