1. A disguise for a different sleep training method - I felt excited to find something that offered a holistic, attachment, and as they say “attuned” parenting approach to sleep. Reading the book and finding that it is none of those things, just another get scheme for sleep training. Going in and saying a scripted phrase while your child cry’s and leaving the room immediately, is not responsive or healthy for their cognitive development. If you are looking for a more intuitive approach to baby and toddler sleep, please look for something besides this book.

2. Oh my goodness it WORKED - About a week ago during the month sleep regression, i was the Mom who said NOPE, not my baby, to every single method i was night and day stressing HARDCORE over. And yes, i was trying them and ended the beginning of a long night in TEARS feeling awful. Then the regression ended and things got perfect again... NOT. My almost month old was refusing to sleep and to accomplish any at all it took hours worth of rocking, nursing, put down, cries again, repeat. It was awful... The sleep wave worked wonders for us in just two nights. I felt confident checking on my LO every minutes, reassuring her I was there but without picking her up... because guess what? Picking her up was NOT working! I was anti sleep train and this book taught me it’s not even “training” but is simply helping my baby do what she can already do. I feel like a better parent in hours and HOPE this continues as bedtime has been amazing and it really only took one night to see the difference! I will add I haven’t worked for naps yet but that’s my next step! Thank you thank you!

1. Formatting of Book is Awful! - You can’t read the book well. It’s not in the format of other books I’ve bought. The font is so small, and I have to swipe it back and forth if I want to zoom in. You can’t change the font size either. So mad that I just didn’t go buy the paper copy. This is unreadable, which is awful because it wasn’t cheap.

2. Make it like a normal ebook - It’s a real pain to read since you can’t control the font size like a normal ebook. You literally have to zoom in and then scroll from left to right to be able to read it. Regardless of content, I can’t give it a high rating until is formatted be readable on a device

3. Don’t Buy This Book! - I was really excited about reading this book because it had been recommended to me by a friend. However, I did not find help with anything that I needed at all. There is absolutely no information on how to get your baby to go to sleep at night, only information on what to do after nighttime feedings. They also have a schedule that is very unrealistic for working families. They also do not have any information on how to transition your child to their schedule. I’ve worked for the last month to get my baby to go to bed at the o’clock hour instead of around AM. So starting bedtime at : is absolutely impossible. I’m also not going to make my baby wait The recommended three hours in between feedings when she is hungry between and / hours. Super bummed about this book. I wish I could get my $ back.

4. This book is amazing! - When you come home from the hospital you have no guidance other than instinct on when to feed, do naps etc. I felt like I was going insane trying to read my child’s mind from day one. This book is an essential guide to help parents get on a schedule that seemed to keep me ahead of my child’s crying. It’s amazing. Thank you so much for writing this book.

5. Waste of money, no help, don’t buy - This “book” offers no troubleshooting and no real help. It assumes your baby will follow these guidelines and this schedule, but what happens when he/she does not? The other information is so basic, most new moms more than likely already have this knowledge. It is also quite old fashioned and some of the advice is actually not great at all. Lastly this is not a book. It’s a PDF marketed as a book. Don’t buy this!!!

6. Coldest Approach to Parenting - If you would prefer to parent your child like he/she is a pet, not a human, this book is for you. I was extremely disappointed in the content, particularly since it was recommended to me by a pediatrician. Some of the advice contradicts health and safety recommendations by the AAP, LLL, and your everyday parenting experience. I read about the authors thinking, since they proclaimed to be Christian, the approach would be warm and caring. It, sadly, is not. Very cold and rigid, particularly for a breastfeed baby. If I knew how to return the electronic copy, I would. It's complete junk.

7. It works - I had one of the nurses visit my home with my first child. Everyone finally got some sleep with the nurses' foolproof swaddle technique. I've read all their books and they are easy to read, logical and effective. Best money I've ever spent on childcare tips and I recommend them to everyone.

8. Hard to read on phone - This book is in a weird format. It's very hard to read on the iPhone. I have to keep zooming in and scrolling around. I've read hundreds of books on my phone and never had a problem until this one. Content is good but just one of many perspectives to consider. I never buy paper books any more but wish I had on this one because it's difficult to read.
2017-02-10
9. Disappointing - I was really excited about this book when I first read it and immediately started applying what I read with my week old son. My baby did his longest stretch of sleep that night and I was raving about this book. However, in the days that followed my baby wasn't following the schedule that this book laid out. I tried and tried but my baby was out and I could not wake him up for a feeding for almost minutes and threw of the schedule leaving me feeling like a failure! I'm disappointed because this book does not provide any troubleshooting for when your newborn is crying and rooting around at hours but they are not supposed to eat for hours, or when my baby wakes almost every hour one night crying and wants to eat. This book just provides very basic bullet points of what your baby should be doing. Well, I can read plenty of books that tell me what my baby should be doing, but what about when they don't do that despite your best efforts? First time mommies need a lot more guidance than bullet points!

10. Moms On Call Basic Baby Care: - Months - I first downloaded the sample before buying the complete book. The book appeared to have the content I was looking for, based on the table of contents found in the sample. I looked at the ratings, and the book received good reviews. I decided to buy the book- what a disappointment it was when I finally browsed through the complete book! All the book contained were lists and bullet points. The book contained mere checklists for reach section identified in the table of contents. To make things worse, the book’s contents were nothing enlightening or enriching even for new mommies; practically everything written in the book were common sense. What a waste of money.

1. Husbands need to read this, not wives - Dunn is an excellent writer and the stories are very relatable, but HUSBANDS need to read this! It’s old news for women. I find myself disliking my husband even more as I read the book because I am thinking, “Yes my husband is the same way-So oblivious!” While every word in this book is true, so far the book is saying men are unhelpful as a whole and wives need to effectively get their husbands to change. I was hoping for a book that would help ME change my resentfulness and negative mindset towards my Husband, because that his more likely to happen then HIM changing his behavior. I can only be responsible for myself. Buy it for all the men with expecting wives...

2. Anecdotal and Evidence-Based - This book was very relatable. I like how Dunn used personal stories combined with actual findings to support her ideas and offer advice. While sometimes the advice seems a little unnatural, she does a great job explaining why sometimes that is necessary to create a new habit. Whether it changes my behavior or not, it will help me understand why things happen the way they do, that new moms are not alone in their frustrations, and what I can try to mitigate a situation. I would definitely recommend this book and hope she writes more in the future. I enjoyed her writing style and it has motivated me to search out her articles online.

1. Transformative. - This book was so compelling. Well thought out, written with kindness and a sense of grace which sometimes lacks in parenting “manuals.” And unlike other books on the topic, I couldn’t put it down- is this a novel, a travel adventure about a toddler and her mom; well, it’s all that and more. Any questions were answered with memorable stories to hold onto the concepts. I also appreciated Doucleff’s voice as a reporter, which felt more balanced than some titles written by professors who can seem committed to their ideas being correct. I highly recommend this to parents and anyone interested in working with and leading people of all ages to contribute with ease and joy.

1. Life changing - Incredible! Every single parent should read this book. Not only is it life changing for my children and the way I parent, it’s also life changing for my own mindset and how I interact with the world and my thoughts. I can’t recommend this enough. I read it in days and I can’t wait to start implementing everything I’ve learned!

2. Amazing perspective, effective strategy, and easy to read - This is a great book to scratch the surface of brain evolvement and how different parts of the brain connect. I absolutely recommend this book to anyone who wants to lean about ABC of the brain. The whole-brain strategy is really an amazing perspective. I can't wait to try it.

3. The Whole-Brain Child - I really appreciated how this book was grounded in science. Not only did the principles presented make sense, but they were based in fact and the author provided practical ways to implement the principles in daily life. I recommend this book for any parent that wants to raise children with strong social and emotional intelligence. You won't feel overwhelmed by the content, rather you will feel like you can really implement and make good changes easily.

4. Finally - I have only listened to a podcast with Dan and dr drew and read bits of this book but I could have used this book when my son went through major anxiety at age . Now he is and I hope to still try these exercises in some capacities as I think he has learned to simply suppress emotion which is not what I want him to do (having done this for years myself!) as I fear it will impact him later in life. I am so excited to finally have the ah ha moment of the body being so reactive to emotion as a child. He would cry and get upset at school and the counselor would skip straight to getting him to deal with his anxiety yet we could never get him to connect anything to the anxiety nor did he understand from his left brain about this emotion. It was like going to step without steps -. Needless to say, therapy never worked and he simply started having less anxiety as he got older. He has some now and excited to have some new tools to work with as we move into preteen years. Yikes! Thanks dr Siegel - let's get this stuff out there please!!! Not enough psychs get this and so important in kiddos!

1. The Best Parenting Book! - I read this in one sitting I absolutely LOVED it! The author writes so well and is so funny! I really am not a fan of parenting books generally but the fact that this was part-memoir sold me on it and now I live by this book. It’s also great because the “bringing up bébé” part was great for me and the “bébé day by day” part was great for my husband because it broke it all down and he could just see the rule/tip quickly and easily. Great book. Great tips. Great writing. Great ebook. Just overall really really great!

2. I’m so happy I found this book! - I read this book halfway through my pregnancy to my first daughter. It took all the fear of the unknown about how best to help my little one grow and not lose myself in her. I followed many of the little nuances I picked up from the book on our very first day together in the hospital. By two months she was sleeping through the night, and now she’ll be months and has a set eating schedule too. We rarely have bad moments with her anymore, because I’m thinking she always knows what to expect next in her day. I recommend this book to all my mom friends. It was a lifesaver. Thanks to this book we are not a to regimented family but a flexible happy one!

Often times, we forget that every moment is spiritual before it is physical and this book shows you that while offering insight and happenings in the spirit realm. This is a wonderful book for anyone to read and everyone, future parent or not, should read this.

1. Beware of this book. - This book indirectly suggests you don’t have what it takes to trust your instincts when raising YOUR child. If you aren’t careful, this book can disconnect you from your natural, innate ability to care for you child. While it’s meant to be a “guideline” it’s highly specific, and not at all the way to go about connecting with your child, or putting them to sleep. Also, look up the author of this book and see his credentials. Children are unique individuals and there is no “one size fits all” like this book suggests. Trust yourself and your child’s ability to communicate what he/she needs.

2. Perfect for bonding. Parents & baby happy! - I used this for both of my girls. DO NOT listen to negative reviews. It is a guideline. I kept my baby in my room in bassinet till I was comfortable. Be careful when making crazy accusations that it will kill your baby!! Do you have facts? Yes the book has a biblical view that the parents’ relationship is very important, duh! Parents need more sleep too so they can be calm parents. Parents need time to reconnect. Also, sleep for mom is proven to help lessen symptoms of POSTPARTUM!!! Is that not a good thing? Keeping a schedule is also necessary for mamas milk production. (Both mom & baby get sleep! ) I nursed both my girls for year! I Bonded with both. Loved my nursing time with them! Both of my girls were great nappers too! Toddlers and babies need many hours of sleep for normal brain development! Both girls are very independent, secure within themselves and very intelligent! As I write this my oldest is using the book & her baby has slept hours straight at night at only month. My granddaughter is very happy, & thriving. People hate the book because they are too lazy to follow.

3. Terrible Dangerous Advice - I am only a few chapters into this book and already there are several red flags. It offers advice that goes against the AAP guidelines for reducing risk of SIDS with advice such as after weeks remove baby from your room so you can sleep better! Newborns are not an inconvenience - they need love, care and attention night & day. I also discovered this book was originally published in as ‘Preparation for Parenting: Bringing God's Order to Your Baby's Day and Restful Sleep to Your Baby's Night', (Christian edition written by Gary and Anne Marie Ezzo), the book was rebranded in , which makes me feel uneasy.

4. Best book ever for new parents - I used this schedule for my two kids and had amazing results. My babies were always happy. I was always getting compliments everywhere, even on airplanes, as to how great my babies behaved. They were fed and slept which made them very content. It's a shame that people are finding the book controversial. I had a toddler and an infant to take care of so putting them on a routine made days so much smoother and enjoyable. You must read this if your a new parent. A baby that has all of their needs taken care of makes a happy baby...and happy parents!

5. An amazing resource - My husband and I have used this book after each of our childrens birth. It provides an amazing source for comfort and encouragement. I find myself reading and re-reading the book daily as a guide and reminder that we are making the right choices for our child. When I am tired and weak I doubt my ability to make the right choices. This book helps me feel like I have a constant support system no matter what time of day or night. The long term benefits have been realized with each of our children. We are consistently told how wonderful our children are and I believe this first book is the first step in providing the right foundation for our children. We have found each book in the series very helpful. That said this first book is just as much for us as it is for baby. Newborns make you doubt yourself and this book gives you the support and guidance needed to make it through the first months.

6. The only way to go - My wife and I have followed the guidelines and especially the suggested tables (very useful as you can’t rmember anything in the fog of the first few weeks and it helps to see a written record of what happened) and are thrilled with the results. A happy, healthy boy that eats and sleeps well and has a good temper. I do not at all understand the odd reviews that cite how this approach has killed infants…sounds like competing publishers to me….. We’re entering week and couldn’t be happier.

7. Great parenting book - Babywise is a controversial topic I learned but I loved it! My baby was always fussy and hardly ever slept (which isn't good for his development). Babywise helped me know my baby better. He is happy, sleeps well, eats well (a little too well almost out of house and home!!), and everyone is happy. It took a while to implement but it was worth it. And no, you don't have to cry it out.

1. Great for Conversations with all Ages - This is a great book for understanding how to listen to people of all ages. I’m the kind of person who likes to offer advice when other people have problems. I know lots of people hate that, but literally didn’t know what to say otherwise. This book helped me to be a kinder friend (and made my own internal monologue kinder as a bonus).

2. Kid Centric Parenting - I didn’t love this book - it felt to me like everything becomes a validation of the kids feelings and then how can we bend to make to the child feel ok. I think it gives great conversation starters but not how to build responsible kids who are accountable for their own actions.

1. Excellent - I love how blunt she is! She doesn’t lie a lot of the things she talks about did happen and she had the answers in this book. I both enjoyed how easy the book is to follow, read, and execute. We are still one month in but these twin boys are well on there way to success. They have minimal accidents. I did train both night time and daytime training at the same time and feel like she hit it on the head they did learn quite quickly because once diapers were gone completely it didn’t confuse them they just new we don’t do diapers anymore. I loved this book.

2. Great Advice - Too Wordy - The steps for potty training were perfect for us! Great advice for how to tackle this monster of a parenting milestone. I do wish the book was more condensed and streamlined for a busy parent. It seems quite repetitive for the sake of a book. I would pay the same amount for less words that just gets to the point.
2021-07-31
3. WORTH EVERY PENNY - I am absolutely positively satisfied with my purchase of this book. We’re weeks into potty training and my month old has blown me away since day one. I can’t stop telling people how successful this approach has been for us. I’m due with my second child in just a few weeks and my wallet is thanking me for not stretching it thin on diapers for two!

4. Get this book! - This book is everything! Tells you where to start, addresses all dilemmas you might have and gives solutions to them. The biggest thing that got me through was it validates your feelings. Potty training was rough the first week and got me to the point of tears but this book encourages you to push through and not give up and I’m so glad I didn’t. Buy this book and really read through it and reference back during the process and you won’t be disappointed.

5. Potty Training Must-Have - When someone suggested this book to me, I thought “I’m not reading a book on potty training my kid, c’mon.” But THIS BOOK!! I successfully trained my son at months with it. He was going on his own the second day! Do yourself a favor and read it before you start potty training! I tried training him once before and didn’t realize how wrong I was going about it. The methods in the book take the pressure off with no bribes, rewards, timers. Potty training is never easy, but this helps so much. I don’t know how it would have gone had I not read this.

6. Didn't work - I studied this book. Dove right in to potty training when my son was weeks. Stripped him naked waited from some sort of peeing "sign". Nothing and all of the sudden he peed put him on the pot and he stopped did this for three days and no progress. I kid you not there was no sign for peeing with my son. As for yes but the second I caught him put him on the potty he stopped and refused to even try until I gave up. I was defeated and depressed. So I sat and waited a couple of months until I knew he was ready. Took him to the potty every with a pull up on and now he just gets it. Hes almost and got it outside the designated timeframe the author suggested. I wish I can get my money back.

7. Couldn’t done it without this book - I had a few attempts to potty training the last one was during the month of September . To say that it was a disaster is an understatement. At that time I was so frustrated that I wasn’t sure if my daughter was ready or not. Feeling completely lost I decided that I needed a roadmap to this potty training business and while reading an article online I came across this book. I decided to go ahead an buy. At that point I didn’t had anything to lose, and a lot to gain. When I started reading this book there were many thing that I didn’t thought about when I tried previous times. I recommend this book to any mom/parent that is as lost as I was. I read the book in couple of days, it is a super easy reading and writen in plain, common sense language. I waited couple of weeks and went back at it. This last time I knew exactly what to look for, and it was a better experience. I still got frustrated on the second day but I kept at it. Today is the th day since I started potty training and I can proudly say that she is fully potty trained. It takes time but if you know your child is capable of doing it buy this book and go for it. Enjoy the process, you will feel so proud of your child. Enjoy the potty training journey.

1. Required reading - I am a former Ivy League admissions officer and about to become a dad, so this book was both a walk down memory lane and an eye-opening guide for what is to come. Unless politicians and policymakers radically change higher education in the United States, I expect that I will need to reread this book every couple of years. Despite covering anxiety-inducing topics, Ron left me feeling neither despair nor anger. Instead, I feel empowered to ask questions of admissions officers and inspired to take my first steps towards paying for our son’s (possible) college education.

1. The Baby Sleep Solution - I am a night nanny so my job is getting babies to sleep through the night. I've read them ALL! Three years ago I ran across this book at one of my client's homes and picked it up and read it. I love this technique! The reason I love this book and share it with ALL my clients is because it's a quick read! I tell my parents to read the intro then as we come to the next phase of sleep training we read the chapters together - well, not out loud like Reading Rainbow, but we read the same information so we are on the same plan. It's not too much information all at once. I also like it because it's a low-cry solution to sleep training. I was at a birthday party for one of my clients and the moms were standing around talking about mom stuff, and there were two moms there saying that their babies slept or rested in their cribs for hours and they were both my clients! All the other moms had sleep issues with their kids. The book is small but mighty!

1. It Just Works! - I have children, and my th and last child was the toughest to potty train. She was so stubborn! I thought I knew it all, considering that I did this times already, but I clearly was heading into new waters with her! I bought this book, and, just like it states, she was potty trained in days. I mean, COMPLETELY potty trained, night time, too. Thank you Lori!

2. Worked with month old! - My husband and I both read it and followed it to a T. The first day was very draining and intense, but by the second day, our little one was potty trained with only two accidents that day. Totally worth that stressful first day! We are now a couple of months out, and she rarely has accidents. She occasionally has accidents outside or in new places, but she’s little so that is to be expected. We stuck with the nighttime training and underwear for about five weeks—limiting fluids two hours before bed and waking up several times at night, etc. We continued to have accidents and wet the bed, so it worked better for us to put pull ups on her at night and we will try again when she’s older. We haven’t noticed nighttime pull-ups interfering with daytime potty training at all (including she still stays dry and wears underwear at nap times). We did have some problems with her being scared of pooping in the toilet and tried the various methods in the book. She started out great and had several bowel movements on the potty, but then started holding it, became constipated and scared after a week or two. Pooping became a big production with a lot of anxiety. We started giving her miralax, and what worked for us was to bring the baby toilet out to wherever we were, take off her pants and underwear so we could see it starting and rushing her to the potty. She didn’t want to stay sitting on it to finish her bowel movements, so it was a lot of back and forth and just easier to have the potty out with us to decrease the time it took to get her on it. We kept with the miralax (with doctors approval) and that method, and we worked up to having clothes on her and eventually the potty in the bathroom again for bowel movements. She’s now doing awesome and even pooping at daycare with no problems!

3. Overpriced stern blog post - I was not impressed with this book at all. The author provides very little value, no remarkable tips. The whole book is worded in a negative stern way that makes the reader feel like the child. Interestingly, the book is ended with a call to use the author’s additional services “for a small price”. This book is so popular because it was the first, not because it’s the best.

4. She learned on the nd day! - I really loved the way she explains on how to potty train your toddler. It was just like magic and my month old understood the potty routine on the nd day of training. So far she has been having accidents on her nap time but I guess that part of the learning. When we are out I have to keep reminding her of her "potty time" every :hr or an accident may happen. We still working on her training but she is doing very well. I didn't take the night diaper out yet but we will so. :)
Thank you for the incredible book!

5. Sketchy and neurotic - do not use this book - Don't do it. JUST DON'T. This program is irresponsible, at least, and harmful and traumatic, at its worst. And if you do proceed, do not use THIS BOOK, and THIS AUTHOR (there are others, keep searching). This writer, Lora Jensen, characterizes herself as both knowledgeable and helpful. She is neither. After following this program perfectly for six days now, it is still not working, and creating terrible anxiety in my normally non-anxious child. Desperate to complete this horrible process, I even signed up for Ms Jensen's one-on-one service for "personal help." Lo, and Behold, she's on some sort of vacation from her help desk, information not available to you until after you pay. Her site has no means of contacting her, getting customer service, or getting a refund. This spells S-C-A-M. I can't believe I was so gullible. SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM.

1. My favorite pregnancy book - Pregnancy books normally take all the joy out of being pregnant by talking from a medical and scientific standpoint, OR by sugarcoating everything. This is a nice combination of things you need to know that no one told you, things you can relate to, along with information about pregnancy.
