1. Vintage Van - Yes, this is an album of covers. Some will roll their eyes at the idea, but rest assured that this album is also quintessential Van. He takes old skiffle tunes - many of which most of us have heard countless times - and stamps them with his stylings and makes them feel really fresh. There’s nothing terribly deep here, but it’s an incredibly fun listen. Musically it’s top notch - the sound is full and rich. And Van’s vocals are as strong as ever. Impressive for a guy in his late ’s! Early standouts are Green Rocky Road, Sail Away Ladies, Gypsy Davey, Oh Lonesome Me, Worried Man Blues, This Loving Light of Mine, and In the Evening When the Sun Goes Down. / stars from me.

2. Music at its BEST!!! INCREDIBLE! - This is hard for me to even comprehend that one man can have so much talent. And then of course HIS BAND!! This album will be on loop for many months on my playlist. My kids have listened to Van for years now and love him and my year old daughter just said "dad, is this new music from van Morrison?!!! ..Wow its great!" My bucket list is to see him in Vegas this year!!! GOD BLESS VAN THE MAN!!

3. On Fire! - If you don’t love it it’s because you don’t get it. This is roots music, three chords and the truth down to your bones dance music. Gotta love Van and the band swinging with grit and fire; pushing the beat and always bending any song to new tones and musical boundaries. So clear and clean. You’re in a groove these days Van and company. Thank you! Btw, I dissed your last album, What’s It Gonna Take. Then I gave it several spins and realized I was wrong about that work. That album is full of complexities, twists and turns musically. A great record. I can’t wait for this album to drop. So good.

4. Eh. - Talk about living off an ancient reputation. Morrison's records have been slick and dull now for more than years. His records in the s and 's, even into the 's, were magical. Since then the musicians backing him sound like they came straight from recorded Disney records. Boring, boring, boring.

1. Blues Travel Lore - Joe Bonamassa - Ambassador for the blues ; not only does does he eat ,sleep, plays the blues - he embodies the blues . JB is a great song writer himself ; but also chooses great material to cover ; in his capable hands he does a great homage to Gary Moores " Midnight Blues " . In working with others he is also a great side man while sharing his stage and then re-emerging as the star he is .................Always a good listen from " Smoking Joe " .

2. The best live set I've ever heard - Favorite blues album in my library. Best live album I know of. In any genre. The cuts with guests (Beth Hart, Paul Rodgers, and John Hiatt, -tracks apiece) are also really good. Tal Bergman puts in some really sick drum work (check out Blue and Evil, Young Boy Blues, Midnight Blues, and Dust Bowl). Don't be scared of the price, download the whole album, but the best songs are: ) Slow Train
) Dust Bowl
)Blue and Evil
) Mountain Time
)Young Boy Blues

3. Joe Bonamassa live from beacon New York - Wow this Is Blues Rock energy st century! I stumbled upon this super talent and best Blues guitarist just recently? Where have I been!
Just bought tickets foR Seattle !
This carries on gritty tones and sings well.. Buddy Guy and Clapton love this guy too! love it

4. Joe Does it Again - Another fabulous live album from one killer performer and his friends! My goodness! In the hands of a craftsman like Joe, the guitar is an instrument, not just a source of noise. He plays with feeling, passion, slow, fast, high and low. Just a magnificent album. Along with Live at Royal Albert, of the best live albums of great guitar work ever. The man is a tireless touring professional and should be on any guitar fans list of must see performers. If you go, you will be hooked for life and wonder why you hadn't done it before. I especially liked his collaborations with John Hiatt on Down Around My Place and Beth Hart on I'll Take Care of You. A wonderful album for Bonamassa fans new and old.

5. Thank You Joe. - I can't believe in the previous reviews nobody mentions Beth Hart. Thank You Joe for introducing me to Beth. I've bought everything she has recorded for the past years. Although she's from LA she spent most of her career in Europe where she's huge. Buy this and Don't Explain and you will be hooked on Beth. She's in my opinion simply the best Singer/Songwriter alive today. When Joe and Beth get together it's a must buy.

6. Joe brings it again - Here's a pattern I can live with...Studio album with excellent guitar work and interesting songs usually with some interesting guests thrown in followed by a incredible Live album documenting that tour, Repeat. Joe's talent is rivaled only by his ability to consistently put out product, a real bonus for his fans.
2012-09-25
7. Amazing Set - Love this live album just as great as The Royal Albert Live album plus more appearances from other artists! Must own!!! If anything you have to get the track "Down Around My Place" with John Hiatt. Joe compliments John so well in this song!
FIRST! Can't wait to see Joe Bonamassa again in Louisville!

1. Essential for Blues collection - I am just beginning to discover Blues, and I had nothing from either Eric Clapton or B.B. King in my collection. I settled on this album to begin to fill those gaps-- eventually I will add more of both, but for now this is an excellent solution. This is an absolutely fantastic album that I truly enjoy listening to over and over.

2. Two masters at work. Plain and simple. - Everyone always says "Clapton is God" and they're right. His simple phrasing in his slower jams is so awesome on this album and B.B. King and Eric are great on Riding. B.B. is always spot on and the two of them are perfect compliments to each other's styles. Don't try to pick and choose between songs, just buy the album, there's no stinkers on it anywhere.

1. Same same - Was a big Joe B fan; CDs, DVDs, autographs, signature guitars, etc. But, I haven’t brought on an albums in a while; I doubt I’ll be buying this one. Maybe it’s time that he moved on from his long time producer, and get somebody who is really able to work with His talents. This mix of riffs, runs and blocks of strange thoughts are starting to get old…

2. Joe can do no wrong! - I have been a Joe fan for many, many years. You can hear his passion for music in every album. I think this is one of his best albums. My favorite songs on here are Curtain Call And The Loyal Kind. They have a harder sound which I really like. I can’t wait to see him in concert again. Thank you Joe!

3. ??? - The people who "panned" this effort must not be TRUE Bonamassa fans. He pours his heart and soul into everything. Obviously no one has seen his latest concert tour (I have, weeks ago) to which he includes back ground singers (same singers as on the album) and they fit perfectly into the performance. Pull your head out of your as and open up your mind.

1. Awesome Blues Album!!! - I devoured Kingfish's debut and was waiting with baited breath for his sophomore release. It was so worth the wait he totally killed it!!! There's no filler or bad songs on this album each song pops. He explored some new styles and they all sounded unique and infused with his own style. Honestly I can't wait to see where he goes in the future. The future of the blues are in masterfull hands!!!

1. More like Rhythm & Blues Brothers - Loved the movie. One of the greatest comedy chase movie musicals of all time. But their music (at leat on this album) really isn't blues, it's rhythm & blues, R&B. With the horns blaring, there's no room for real range with the guitars despite having Steve Cropper on board with his Booker-T partner Donald Dunn on bass. It's too cheerful to be buesy. There's no longing. No despair. And little feeling. I'd stick with the movie. The jovial upbeat soundtrack fits that better than this album fits the blues.

2. Brief Case Full of Blues add on.. - This live album turns out to be The Blues Brothers at there best. Even tho, this was suppoe to be a joke when they debut it on Saturday Night Live and it pushed Dan Akroyd and Jokhn Belushi into Super Stardom. All the songs on this album are great. It surly shows how much they love the blues by singing cover songs from the Blues Greats and the supportting band members are a jamming breed apart from everyone else. If John Belushi never died, who knows how high in the stratosphere they would climb?

3. Great music, fun listening, but needs to be remastered - I hear a lot of noise and what sounds like good old-fashioned vinyl pops and clicks. Maybe it adds to the enjoyment, like a trip back to when this album was recorded, and times were oh-so-much simpler. Recorded live on September , , at the Universal Amphitheater, Los Angeles, as the opening act for Steve Martin.

4. Best Thing Ever! - I absolutely love The Blues Brothers! I'm only and by listening to this, I listen to Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett, BB King, Ray Charles, etc. I love this old music better than the rap and stuff today! I own both movies and CD. Even seen the tribute band in concert! I lovee Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi! (R.I.P) Thank you!

5. They fixed it!!!! - My parents had the original version on track and then I had it years later on cassette…maybe they have fixed this since I purchased this awhile back but the album doesn't play all the way through, so some of the greatest moments such as when John is calling out the band are gone…This is supposed to play like a concert and to me is way better than the movie soundtrack…the great ones are still here, but there should be no gap in between the songs. John and the rest of the band are on freaking fire here, too bad it gets watered down by stupid record company reissues such at his piece of crap editing job done on this epic 's live recording. Get it right Atlantic!!!! Oh hey they got it right. Too bad I had to purchase it twice…well worth it I must say. Thanks for fixing it!!!!

6. holy crap - This was the Album in the country while Animal House was the Movie in the country and Saturday Night Live was the hottest show in the country. I'd like to see anyone pull that off again. But go ahead, complain that it's not the soundtrack to a movie that while popular, was a pale shade of what it should have been, if Belushi didn't have to be pulled out or a pool of urine and vomit for each of his scenes,
2011-09-03
7. A lost gem - Don't look to this album as a Blues Brothers soundtrack. Doing so misses the point. This album was released a couple of years _before_ the movie, soon after the BB appeared on SNL. Long before Spinal Tap, or Dck in a Box, the Blues Brothers took the idea of a "sketch" and moved well beyond. Ackroyd and Belushi were huge fans of the blues, and this album (recorded live in LA) captures a very entertaining evening. If memory serves, this concert was the opening act for Steve Martin when he was on his Wild and Crazy Guy tour. All of that is well and good, but the music itself is the reason to buy or listen to this album. Belushi does a more than passable job, Ackroyd provides surprisingly effective harp (and great vocals on Rubber Biscuit), and the band itself is terrific. They simply don't make fun albums like this any more. Soul Man is the obvious hit, but "B" Movie, I Don't Know, Flip Flop, Messin' with the Kid…there simply isn't a track that misses. Highly recommended.

8. Wow... - This album is great - my mom had it on vinyl when I was a kid and I listened all the time. Some folks are really confused this is obviously a LIVE album recorded before the first movie came out featuring some of the best players ever. Really, give it a chance it's one of the finest recordings you'll ever hear, and then later.. watch the movie again. You'll feel like you're hangin' with old friends.

9. we're in trouble - this is not so much a review of "Briefcase Full of Blues", as it is a review of the other reviews . . . . . a lot of the people can't SPELL, and a lot of the people can't SEE . . . . . one is looking for "Soul Man", and it's right on top of the list . . . . and what's so bad about $. ? ? ?
2011-02-11
10. Great Collection - The songs on this album are really fantastic. It's not the soundtrack to "The Blues Brothers" (movie), but it's got other great songs. Personally, I'm a bigger fan of Flip, Flop & Fly than almost every song in the movie (barring Gimme Some Lovin'). If you don't have any Blues Brothers yet, this is a great start, and maybe look around for the soundtrack, or just watch the movie.
2010-09-02
11. Terrific Blues Intro - Despite protests from blues purists, this album can be considered a classic for the way it introduced blues and soul to a generation growing up with disco in . Jake and Elwood were caught live here smoking through blues standards with a band of ringers while giving props to the original artists that made these songs great. Look at this as a fun blues concert recorded live and a springboard to enjoying other soul and blues acts like Sam & Dave, Booker T, and Delbert McClinton.

1. Not bad Gregory, not bad at all. - I didn't know what to expect. I'm mostly familiar with Hugh's work on "House M.D.", but this was really good. I love his sound and his voice made me feel something. I highly recommend giving this album a listen and watching the show. Can't wait for the next album :)

2. Hurts to listen to that voice - The song selection, the interpretation, the performance of the instruments are solid except for Laurie's voice. The affectation grates and kiss each song. I wonder how he'd sound if he weren't covering his accent. His pitch is I be, his sound is full but is sounds lifeless, plastic. I can't listen to the disc it's just too much a hindrance.

3. Save the cash for.... - A Dr. John album. I love Hugh Laurie and his voice and piano are amazing! But he's way way out of his element here. I'm New Orleanian. These are mostly songs from our weird little catechism. I have NEVER heard anybody yowling quite like Mr. Laurie trying to grope his way through "Tipitina". He just can't pull off the blues; too polished and too privileged. This album sung by the late great blues woman Amy Winehouse would have been amazing! Pity she never met Tippitina. She just had what it takes to sing the Blues - oddly, English women can pull it off. This is NOT soul. These are New Orleans Blues. Laurie does well on the Woogie piano style but it's over produced and he just doesn't have the grit and gravel and pain for these songs. His voice is too good. If Hugh had played and found some N'Awlins fry cook to wail the lyrics this'd be one for the ages. But it's painful. A demonstration of industry kiss up. Mr Laurie is a wonderful actor and probably quite entertaining. But blues? The one art form where training ruins ability, and this grotesque vocal track proves it.

4. skeptic-glad to be wrong - i have to admit i was skeptical at first- how many times have we seen an actor try to run in other circles and the result is almost always a train wreck. but i bought it thinking what the hell. from the first track i was hooked. i think hes a very good actor but he shouldve been making cds this whole time.look forward to what the future holds. i can tell hes not just singing the words hes living and feeling it.which is what the blues are about isnt it.hes definitely not from england think hes a delta blues man from another age - reincarnate. play on hugh.
2012-11-03
5. Love this album - I am willing to admit that I initially bought this primarily because it was Hugh Laurie. I do enjoy the blues but am not that familiar with the genre. Regardless, I Love this album. The songs are well sung and I love Laurie's voice on this album. His love for the blues is obvious and it's obvious that he had a lot of fun making this album, which is what music is about.

6. Let them Talk- would have worked- stage singing not so much - Try singing with marbles in your mouth or recording when you have a cold. Your playing is fine, if not a little on the fast attack on the front of the note or chord. You've got all day- what's the rush? Hot Tamales was recorded in a motel room in San Antonio Texas. It was hot and there were lots of people , for the times, on the street below, running along the river with the cotton woods and magnolias providing the only shade from the hot sun. The barker SEEMS to yell out his message of the respite of hot tamales, which cool the skin. "Get 'em while you can", but the conversation at the riverside table is " guess I'll git me some of those tamales". He leans over to his friend and says,"Can I borrow a dime?". Nothing moves fast only the desperation of the vender to sale his mamas tamales. That is how he played that song in that hotel room in Texas on a cheap Stella guitar. Play on the back-end and sing like you have a sore throat and you've got it down.

7. Good first album - I like blues. Not at a very fanatic level but I enjoy it. I wanted to know what Laurie had to offer, mainly because of the popularity of being dr house. I had a bitter taste. It's not bad, in fact its quite okay. I only like two or three songs , the rest is just to "fill in the blanks" .... He's no true blues singer but it's okay
2012-05-31
8. True Entertainment - Saw concert...Amazing
Hugh Laurie was warm and welcoming. Funny. Talented! The singing was great. The switch between piano and guitar was seamless and inspired!
The band drove the evening and provided a true event and music that enlivened the soul and got everyone moving. Wonderful music to liven any evening or event. Great talent from all!!!

1. Incredible - I bought a few blues albums at once, including jimi. I am really blown away by this album. In a world of subscriber based services, I would recommend sacrificing the price of one month's subscription listening to anything for a month to buying this outright to hear forever. It's well worth it.

2. "Inexperienced" - I like Hendrix, but let's get real. The good: Born Under a Bad Sign, Red House, and Bleeding Heart. The mediocre: Everything else on this album. Hendrix died at a young age, and although he definitely showed signs of brilliance, it was far from realized. Play these tracks and imagine that one of your friends and his band had recorded them, and not the "mythical" and "legendary" Jimi Hendrix. What would you honestly think? Most of this album gets on my nerves.
2014-02-18
3. Must have - I just found out about these posthumous albums and decided to try this one first. I was skeptical because I thought it was just a ripoff of a great artist. But this shows Hendrix without the constraint of recording a 'hit'. He's just playing and playing great; the sound quality is excellent. If you're a fan this is a must have: I do put this atop all of my other Hendrix albums.
2013-02-06
4. Amazing! - I was slightly apprehensive about purchasing this album. I love Jimi Hendrix, but I thought he only played hard 's rock. How wrong I was! This album is his own unique brand of muddy blues. The band is great, and production is fantastic, and after listening to "Mannish Boy" just once, you'll find yourself tapping your foot to the driving beat. This is a must buy for Hendrix and blues fans alike!!

5. Essential Addition to Any Serious Blues Collection - Buy it. You are here, obviously, because you like either Hendrix or the blues -- and either way, this album is a total no-brainer. I'm amazed at how many serious blues aficionados are unaware of Hendrix's contributions to that genre. He's one of the great ones, folks -- right there with any blues immortal you can name. Most rock musicians get their start with the blues, and many come back to it eventually; but Hendrix never left. This is Blues -- it's the album I suggest to blues neophytes for their first serious listening experience, and the one often, inexplicably, missing from hard-core collections.
2010-12-16
6. Awesome - This compilation is just a non-stop, constant flow of ridiculous jam's that never cease to amaze. Hendrix was always trying improve his technique and grow as an artist while he was alive and by the end of this album it's obvious why he is considered of the best artists of all time. His guitar playing was so insane you really NEED to buy this album and listen to it multiple times to really understand what I mean.

7. Just a great album - I love this album. I stumbled across it when I had an itunes giftcard, was down to the last $, and had to decide between this one and another album. So glad I went with this Blues Album by Hendrix. It captured me from the drop C tuning on the string on the first track "Hear My Train a Comin" to the amazing guitar instrumental of "Born Under a Bad Sign" to the jam "Jelly " and "Hear My a Train a Comin" electric is just a great way to end this. I would have to say phenomenal musician and phenomenal arrangement. So glad this album was released. It makes a great addition to any music collection and if you've only heard Hendrix's rock and roll, then this is the other half! Worth every penny! Jimi Hendrix Rocks!
2010-05-14
8. Jimi uncut and raw - Perhaps no other album managed to capture Jimi Hendrix and his roots in such a pure and raw form. The songs on this album portrays Jimi's deep roots as a blues guitarist first, and maps out a progression in his early style that helped shape the legend we know of today. If you are a true Jimi Hendrix fan, then this album is a must for your collection.
2010-02-14
9. My Favorite Jimi Album - This is my favorite Jimi Hendrix Album. It was compiled after his death from all the "Blues" songs he had recorded. It has all the elements of rock, while still keeping its true blues/jazz feel. He is truly an amazing guitarist! Definitely recommend this album, as well as the songs "Born under a bad sign" "catfish blues", "bleeding heart" and "voodoo chile blues". These songs are straight from the heart!

1. xlnt guitar and singing - I finally saw these guys live and while i've been a fan of both for many years, i had never seen them in person. The band is fantastic and grooves like you wouldn't believe. Everybody deserves kudos for the show, and each band member got to showcase a little bit. Susan's voice is incredible, and I don't think I stopped moving the entire show! I keep buying their albums and am not disappointed with any of them. Thank you!
2014-11-14
2. So Very Very Good - I'm late to the party with this group. Nevertheless i wanted to add my comments for any other newbies. I had the good fortune of seeing them live recently and it was one of the best concerts I have ever been to. Tedeschi's singing and soulfullness is out of this world! What a huge talent! Back her with a spectacularly tight band of outstanding musicians that includes one of the best guitarists in the world, and well, you get a monumentally wonderful concert experience. I don't want to minimize how fantastic Derek Trucks is but the sound of this group is Susan. Derek just kills it (in person and on this album) and yet is complimentary and supportive of each song too. It is not purely his virtuoso solo show. I went back to listen to this album after the concert and my appreciation for it grew and grew. You hear the details. I don't know how else to say it. I love this album and think this group is going to be a tremendous force in blues, roots and soul. What a great find!

3. tedeshi trucks - tedeshi trucks starts out with a very 's sounding style. I thuoght I was in for a real treat. once the album started going along it had become obvious that they, or she, obviously is a student of Bonnie Raitt. She copied Bonnie's singing style and song writing to a T. One day Raitt will stop recording and I suppose T.T.B. could fill her spot. But they really aren't very original at all. really doesn't matter I guess cause everythings been done before. / stars

4. 'Made Up Mind' delivers, underwhelms in emotion. - I have prided myself on being one of the first Tedeschi Trucks Band groupies, seen their first shows at the Beacon, attended the live recording of Everybody's Talkin, and claim Revelator to be one of the best studio albums released in a very, very long time- well worthy of it's Grammy. Revelator featured such songwriters as John Leventhal, whose work on 'Until You Remember' was a vehicle for Tedeschi to deliver the words with such despair and power, backed by Truck's emotional, feminine guitar work. The hooks were there, such as in 'Ball and Chain' and more gritty 'Learn How to Love.' There was a uniqueness to each ballad - though each one having to do with love, regardless of the content, each was minimalist, and the message was certainly felt. I don't feel as though Made Up Mind hits the same notes. Though the music is good, and the guitar playing and vocals are always top notch, I can't say that the same emotion is conveyed in their second studio album. Tedeschi Trucks Band was formed so that Susan could do what she does best. Derek was certain that Susan's abilities hadn't reached her potential, and he knew he could take her there. She worked hard with engineers to find the perfect microphone (the Neumann U) and each song vocally was VERY fitting for her voice, almost as if each song was written for her to sing, and for the others to join in (Though Oteil Burbridge or Derek trucks "joining in" is different than your average professional musician "joining in"). This album feels like Derek forgot why he created the band in the first place, and the songs, though Tedeschi sounds great, because she is a great singer, are not the most flattering tracks for her tone and sound. BOTTOM LINE- I'll still be front row at their next show, and like a Asparagus, it'll grow on me.

5. Best Music in the last months...discover Susan and Derek... - I buy a LOT of music, and have an extensive and varied collection. TTB is the best I've heard in years. Quickly, watch Midnight in Harlem from ' Crossroads Festival in Chicago, listen to These Walls, then buy the whole killer album Mind Made Up. If you don't love it, you're dead. They have brought back the big band, awesome southern American sound. Susan'a voice is stellar, and the dueling drum sets is unique. All my best!

6. Whoa! - Holy Crap! I downloaded this based on one song I heard and man, am I glad I did. This is one of the best albums I've heard in years! The music, is amazing, without a doubt, but Susan Tedeschi's vocals...WHOA!!! Amazing, to say the least! I'll be listening to this, over and over and over! Awesome!

7. What a Marriage - I had never really gotten much into Susan Tedeschi even after seeing her open for someone I can't remember over a decade ago. I was introduced to Derek Trucks when he was playing guitar with Eric Claptons' band in the early s. I got Songlines and the next CD. It was ok, but nothing that really knocked me out. But this Tedeschi Trucks Band marriage of bands is the best thing ever. I thought Revelator was awesome and this new CD is ever better than that. This music is gritty, crisp, fresh. Don't even try and compare this with garbage on today's radio. This is output that is on a whole different plane. Here's to a long and happy marriage. PS - I disagree with all the comparisions to Joplin. Joplin, I could always hear all the drug side effects in her voice. ST is pure talent. IMO.

8. Wonderful Songwriting - As an old-time Allman Bros fan, I have been following Derek Trucks for awhile and TTB since they formed. The band is great, and the arrangements (Do I Look Worried, Idle Wind) on Made Up MInd work wonderfully with the songs. Derek's virtuosity seems to be getting even better on this album in that the rhythms of his solos work well with the melodies. But, truly, the BEST thing about this album is the songwriting. As much as I enjoyed the 's retrospect on TTB's first album, Revelator, the diversity of melodies and the thought-provoking lyrics on this album give this dad of two teeny-boppers something to think about as we go about our errands. Give those girls some culture, too.

9. Made up Mind is sweeeeet and lowwww - Wow.. Accesses American roots music in ways that call back to the Allman's, the Band, and even some of the great Motown of the late s - but somehow they are unique and all their own. There's so much soul here, it's dripping through the music - Tedeschi's singing is a rock and roll revelation - and Trucks is just simply one of a kind - a master rock guitar player who should be considered along side Page, Clapton, and Duane Allman - buy this one and buy The Revelator.. so worth it. the s

10. This is what the world needs! - Susan and Derek have put forth another great album. Made Up Mind picks up right where Revelator takes off. More soul, greater experimentation, profuse homage paid to past greats, beautiful melodies and enough funk, rock, soul, R&B, jazz and blues to satisfy the appetite of any music fan. Buy this album to preserve history, to honor true talent, to make a statement, to uplift education and to shake your money maker!

11. Rusty G - Wow!!! This is an incredible CD. From start to finish. Don't waste time and energy trying to label this talented band and this particular disc. It is just plain great music. Susan sounds better than ever and Derek remains the best in the business. The band is air tight throughout. Favorites after a few listenings...Idle Wind, Made Up Mind...oh forget it...every song is strong. See them live if you get the chance.

1. Absolutly Amazing - I have been a fan of JB for years. I have seen him in corcert several times. This is one of the best collections music I have heard. the lead guitar in "No Place For The Lonely" is amazing. If you are new to listening to Joe, Buy this collection. If you have been listening to Joe for years, Buy this collection.

2. Songwriter extraordinaire - This guy is a fantastic musician, and writes some of the best songs I've heard in quite a long time. Take a good listen to "How Deep This River"! What an epic tune. The more I listen to Joe, the more he's becoming my favorite blues man out there. You can't go wrong buying this mans music. Well worth the money.

3. Wow .. just found this artist and totally blown away - I was checking the Blues Charts to see if my man Laith Al-Saadi still had traction and saw this as the number one album. Took a quick listen to the track demos and read the reviews - had to give it a go. Wow. Who is this guy? Talk about channeling blues-driven rock. Joe Bonamassa sounds like he is THE master of the genre. I have to explore his catalog now to see what else I can listen to, but if this collection is any indication, this man is a blues master. From the first chord of the first song to the end, this is pure delight. Shades of Zeppelin and Black Keys, but totally original. Buy this.

4. A true legend - Joe Bonamassa has got to be the best artist I’ve ever listened to. He’s got a constantly changing style that always amazes. His guitar playing is by far the best I’ve ever heard. He’s the man, THE man. You want to hear what it sounds like when Joe’s soul talks? Listen to his music.

5. Blues of Desperation - As good as anything Joe has ever done. A beautiful blend of old Joe and grownup Joe. With the passing of BB, Joe has shown that he will be a capable successor! Many years ago I went to see my blues hero BB for the ? time, and to my surprise a young Joe ,opened and opened my eye to a new blues star in the making, maybe he had one album out by then. Now years later and many albums down the line there is still a hope that someone will carry on the tradition of the blues. Thank you Joe WELL DONE and keep them coming, and thank you for remembering the Youngstowns and Warrens of the world.

6. Who does this anymore? - Seriously, I would buy anybody's album that sounds like this! Any suggestions out there? This is just great rock music, rooted in the blues, but it's really just killer guitar rock. Been a fan of Joe's since the Bloodline days, and have watched his sound and voice evolve to what is now the best in the business. The guitar-playing was already there from day one.

7. Another Original Masterpiece - B u write a review, listen to the music - times. All of it!! This is another original masterpiece. All songs written by JB. "No place for the lonely" is my favorite right now but it will change. Many different music styles, blues, hard drivin rock, little gospel, & some easy listen. My favorite guitarist of all time! Great job Joe!!

8. Classic Album - A Must Have - This album is exactly what Joe needed to release. Kevin Shirley nails the production and knew exactly what needed to be brought out of Joe, at thispoint in his carrer. This album is one of Joe's best. Fresh live sound and solid tunes. Not only is the production great, there is a real energy and soul throughout this album, from beginning to end. You can sense a real excitement, as if they knew hthey were making a great album as they laid down the tracks. If you are just discovering Joe, or a long time fan, you'll want this.

9. Continues to be One of the Best.... - Started listening to Joe several years ago. Love what he does. Seeing Joe Live was an Unbelievable experience. I will go again when he's back in the Midwest of the U.S. This album is much heavier than most of the past albums...AND I love everything about this music. Great Stuff.

1. Bored with sex? - Jolie Lives-// Even if it's temporary boredom, then listen to Midnight In Harlem! Having spent years living up there, the intrinsic beauty in the melody and the extraordinary abilities of all the musicians lasts a lot longer then an orgasm!
Even living across the street from Central Park and the Conservative Gardens, at full bloom in Spring, I'd still choose to sail away on Sarah's vocals instead of wandering through the blooming flora. Her husband is an incredible guitarist as well!
So while sex and the scent of blooming flowers are both magical, Spring only lasts just so long unlike the timeless and phenomenal fulfillment of this Album. I concur with all the other Reviewers, they're Best "Live". This group's music will still be bloody amazing in years from now!
What, you still haven't bought it? Fine, have fun playing with yourself!

2. Fantastic !!! - I bought this recording with a iTunes card I got From my wife for valentines day. I was pleasantly surprised just how much I enjoyed it. The music is just so exciting and yet right on the money. The Horns while not overpowering we're perfect. To me it was a little Allman Bros. Band, Janis Joplin, Joe Cocker's Grease Band remember Mad Dogs and Englishman. Thank you Tedeschi & Trucks Band!
2014-02-16
3. There really is a rock and roll God!! - I was distraught for the longest time when Stevie Ray was taken away. ): but when I first started hearing Derek Trucks with the Allman Brothers I started to see a glimmer of hope! Now to hear that Susan Tedeshi and Derek are married!! Thank you God!! And please bless this union with many, many years of happiness and lots of fantastic albums! Such a great album!

4. INSANE!!!! - I am so glad I bought this album!! TTB has turned into one of my favorite bands!! Derek is an incredible guitar player and Susan has an amazing voice!!! Also the band Kofi, Oteil, JJ, Tyler, Mike, and all the other players are just amazing! Midnight in Harlem is one of the greatest songs of all time!!

5. Another Trucks' must have - All things Derek trucks musically influences are must listen to. The guy is an alchemist with his guitar and slide. His skill, which has been honed to perfection, is one of a kind, and this release proves to be no exception. With Susan at the vocal helm for this collaboration, the band reaches new heights. Her voice, the definitive southern soul sounds, provides an incredible range of sound- whether she's softly serenading or wailing the blues. I look forward to more trucks' music featuring ms. Tedeschi controlling the mic. Must have this album!

6. Fantastic - Just saw the T T band Friday in Seattle and still blown away. What a fantastic band, the guitars, the horns, the voacalists, all simly top notch. Susan was in absolutely top form, the best i've ever seen her. Derek was amazing, his riffs nearly blew the roof. And Susan's killer guitar on Everybody's Talkin gave me goosebumps. This is a band you owe it to yourself to get to know and if possible, see live. I'm all out of superlatives,,

7. Noodling for $. - Great musicians who seem a bit impressed with themselves. The songs drag on while the musicians experiment and noodle. Many of the songs seem to stall without artistic or musical direction. Far different from their studio work. Probably a collection of songs for their families or for background music when mowing grass. I want my money back.
2012-06-03
8. Chills - If anyone is reading this that has yet to buy, what are you waiting for? Seriously if you're really on the fence just download That Did It. If you don't have chills after the first first verse and chorus is complete check your pulse. I'm just talking about the vocals. Derek's guitar solo later on is just icing on the cake. Otherwise download the entire album immediately. You can thank me later.

9. Might be the greatest live record ever! - This is gonna go down in history with other classic live records, including The Allman Brothers at the Fillmore, James Brown at the Apollo, Johnny Cash at Folsom, BB King at the Regal (and Cook County Jail, which is better IMO), and Hendrix's Band of Gypsies. This is special. You will not regret this purchase.
2012-05-23
10. Haven't Listened Yet II - Every bit as much musicianship and excitement as their live shows, something you don't always find in live albums. I've loved Susan Tedeschi for years, Derek and his band for almost as long, and think Mike Mattison ought to be inducted without further delay into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. This is a great album - get it soon - go see them live. You will NOT be disappointed.

11. simply special - Folks, this band is one of the most special bands to come around in a long long time. They will be with us for a very long time and be one of those historic bands, you know like The Allman Brothers, Gov't Mule, Black Crowes,Grateful Dead, Widespread Panic, etc. I have been fortunate to see them live times, one of which was at the Beacon which I still dream about. I will see them at The Beacon in September in the th row.....yes , i dream about that to. Live is the way to go and this GEM captures them brilliantly. Susan's voice is crisp and raspy, just stellar. Derek's guitar is perfectly set throughott each song, he is one of the greatest guitarists of all time, yet ego!!. I love him. Oteil on bass is well....OTEIL, great bass lines, Mike Mattison on back vocals is like FANomenal, Kofi on the keys is mighty fine. Maurice, Kebbi and Suanders put together one of the finest horn sections of all time..... they are horny as hell!!!!, their solos will grab you. Tyler and J.J. take percussion to the highest level and Mark Rivers tightens up the back vocals so well. Each song is very special with amazing lead and back up vocals and jams that just will grab you and take you away. Dereks guitar is simply amazing. You need to check this one out it is a highest of recommends.

12. Amazing. - A significant improvement on their first album -- and that's saying a lot. Midnight in Harlem in particular is just incredible but the whole thing is great. Derek Trucks is among the very greatest guitar players ever. Susan Tedeschi has a phenomenal voice. The songwriting and performances are first-rate. The band is strong and tight. It all comes together to just immerse the listener in beauty. Must-listen. (And if you possibly can, go see them play live! You won't be disappointed.)

1. Absolutely EXCELLENT Album - Buddy Guy is an absolute blues and rock staple; a living legend. (Don't believe me? Stevie Ray Vaughan, Clapton, and Jimi Hendrix all thought so!) This CD is one of the greatest full Blues albums I've ever owned. If you're just getting into Blues, this is a near-perfect blend of the best types of Blues. Any self-respecting Blues lover should have this album in their collection.

1. Hurts to give stars - I ADORE HIM!!!! Fell in love with the look, the sound, the funk... JUST LOVE HIM!!!!! Sadly, there is something incredibly off with this album... Maybe I'm just spoiled from hearing him live, but this album sounds like he is being drowned out by every thing and every one else. That is the main attraction: hearing HIM... That ghostly, sexy voice that drives me outta my mind and his incredible skills with his guitar!!! Take all of that away, burying it under WHATEVER all of "this" was, and you lose him...
I don't think he needs to branch out, try new things... as this is what he is known for. It reminds me of when ole Garth Brooks brought out his other half... Just didn't jive with me ... LEAVE HIM BE, Nashville!

2. Joe's till my fave! But this album? - I have to agree with Different Shades of Blah. Even after listening to several tracks I had to check to see if I was really listening to JB. I kept going through the tracks to try to find my beloved Joe. Don't get me wrong I'm not against change or experimentation but this album is not one that I will often play.
2015-04-20
3. Not his best work - I love Joe's other work but this album leaves me wanting. Get Back My Tomorrow and Different Shades of Blue are great songs but the rest of the album is kinda flat. I think many people who write reviews are rating the artist and not the specific work. Five stars should be for an exceptional album which this is not. Not bad just not great.
2015-03-06
4. Bonamassa Guitar God - Joe's newest album was well worth the two year wait. Loaded with quintessential Blues riffs, every one of the tracks on this album were written by Bonamassa. This man is the reason why the Blues continues to thrive for its fans. Joe's talent and commitment to the music and his fans is evident in all he does. This new album is no different.
2015-01-24
5. Up Another Notch - Simply put - wow !! Bonamassa is at the top of his game - he has continued to evolve as an artist and bluesman, and this album is the culmination of this evolution. I've been a fan since early days and have listened to all his albums countless times. Different Shades of Blue combines his classical blues guitar riffs we know and love, soulful lyrics, with a more upbeat and modern blues sound (the increased presence of the horns and keyboards really works). I loved every song on this album for different reasons, but came away more impressed than ever - amazing album from one of the most underrated artists of this generation.

6. Not Live, But Great Studio - Joe is not really none for his studio albums, the clean spontaneity of his live performance is just so awesome. That said, this Cd is possibly the best studio project yet. Some rammed the horns, but thats part of the blues too, as compared to being subject to Kenny G doing sax gyrations on the studio version of Bird On A Wire, Live that song was great. Can't wait to hear these songs live.
2015-01-07
7. Different shade of blues...and a very safe shade at that - This is a safe blues LP for the masses. of these songs sound like they could be on a "room full of blues" LP(Living on the moon, Igave up everything for you cept the blues and trouble town) ...not that the are bad but it is more horn and almost soul based. The best song is the title song and there are a couple of real nice surprises such as what would I do and get back my tomorrow. There aren't any glaring what was he thinking but there wasn't anty OMG I have to get this right now songs either. Joe Bonamassa is still a great guitar player and I have almost all his stuff...but for the first time ever I think Joe played it safe and when you play to to lose...welll that is exactly what happens...I hope next time he says forget it...they want guiatar here is screaming blues guitar...that is the Joe I love...this one...It's ok...

8. Hijacked - I have become an ardent JB fan over the last two years, and I think he is the foremost blues guitarist/vocalist on the scene today. But this new album sounds like it was hijacked by Hollywood (or in this case Las Vegas!). His powerful. lean, earthy blues have been overwhelmed by overproduction and overinstrumentation to the point where much of this album is barely recognizable as the JB we have come to know. In a way it reminds me of what happened to Bonnie Raitt after she gained mass appeal with Nick of Time. Oh Joe, say it ain't so!
2014-10-05
9. Different Shades of Blue - Pre-ordered from Joe's website. On first listen, I wasn't impressed. Then I listened a second time. Liked it better. Listened a third time and started to hear all that went into this. Great work Joe, and Kevin. Joe's band is always great. Saw him earlier this year. As good as Joe is on an album. My advise is to go see him live. If you aren't a fan already, it'll make you one once you see him liive.
2014-10-03
10. Another amazing album!!! - Just close your eyes turn it up and float away! what a sonically rich album! Joe is great don’t get me wrong but this team, these guys, have become so great over the years making great music and working together! it just sounds like they had fun and played their hearts out! Wish it had more song lol.
2014-09-30
11. Different Shades of Blue - A Masterpiece! Excellent! Artistic Gem! Joe Bonamassa continues to blur the lines between blues and rock, and this is a perfect example. Great songs, excellent guitar as only Mr. Bonamassa can deliver, but the vocals are off the chart on this CD. Joe Bonamassa gets better and better every year. I highly recommend this CD for blues lovers, or rock lovers. Excellent work.
2014-09-30
12. Definately Different Shades of Blue - I just received my CD and have listened to it several times. I have my favorites..."Different Shades of Blue" is the "hit" if you ask me, I can see joe's hands all over it. "I Gave Up Everything For You, 'Cept the Blues"..is just what it says, has that great bluesy sound that everyone loves, along with "Living On the Moon, Heartache Follows Wherever I go, So What Would I Do" and others. A few of the songs have the "new country" sound in my opinion with the twist of Joe's excellent guitar through out like "Get Back My Tomorrow". But you would expect that since he wrote most of the songs with country artists/writers. My least favorite is "Oh Beautiful"...the guitar riffs save it, but again, it's not one of my favorites. Overall, I love this whole album and I think any Bonamassa fan will...it's great to hear some long over due NEW/ORIGINAL music from him!! The only cover is "Hey Baby" by Jimi Hendrix. If you are new to Bonamassa you will love this album I think...as he says, music is different shades of blue. I personally like this blues/rock sound he does. I've only discovered this talented artist a couple of years ago, he never disappoints!!! You will love him too! Get this album!!!!

1. Really good album - As we were cleaning out my dad's stuff after he passed away a couple of days ago, his fiancé handed me this album. She bought it for him for Father's Day and wanted me to have it. Having heard a number of his albums and seen him live, I generally like him, but I'm not a fanatic by any means. This album, however, is fantastic. It highlights several areas in which he excels: live performance, proficiency, and crossing musical sound barriers. Easy recommendation.
2015-06-30
2. One of the Best - This album is my first introduction to Joe’s extraordinary musicianship. I am duly impressed and more than that, I cannot stop listening to this album. The sound is out of this world, the songs are catchy, and the musicians are top of the line. It’s been said that they all came together only days before this concert and none of them knew how doing Joe’s songs acoustically would turn out. Well, if that’s the case, then this is truly the work of divine inspiration. If you purchase no other album, let this be the one. After hearing this, I no longer need to listen to anything else.
2014-10-31
3. Joebona - This is such a great album!!! I'm sitting here listening to Sloe Gin and it is absolutely beautiful!!!
Joe is so talented. I just can't believe some people have never heard of him. i've been to two of his concerts and just don't get tired of him. This acoustic album is just a breath of fresh air.
2013-10-12
4. GREAT! - I am starting to think that Joe has a twin brother named Joe. This guy puts out records every other day and they are ALL amazing, but different from each other. I play blues guitar and totally respect the whole package. Vocals GREAT, Guitar Great, Song writing Great! Amazing and perhaps one of the best alive today.
2013-04-15
5. Briliant - Been a big fan of Joe since early , and he's been my go to iPod choice since. Can't get enough of him. When I saw this come out, it was an instant purchase. Really hard to sound unbiased, but I'll do my best. This album is perfect, but in a different way. Instead of being blown away by awesome solos and electric guitar work, you get a completely different genre and style. The acoustic blues are not foreign to Joe (i.e., Woke Up Dreaming???), so it was not completely out of his territory, but still enough to make any fan wary. Fret not! This is a great album. Joe skillfully transfers most of his electric blues-rock songs to acoustic versions, and does this with no problem. Everything sounds amazing. My personal favorite is Mountain Time, since its going back to his roots where he first wrote the song. Amazing track. Long story made even longer, BUY THIS. NO REGRETS.

6. OMG! Can't get any better ! - Joe just continues to impress me, I'm sorry if this next comment offends anybody, if you don't like or appreciate this artist you must not like music. I have to agree with a previous post we are witnessing the best artist of our generation. This album is a must have for any fan of true genuine music. There are just to many songs on this to pick a favorite but if I were, Driving towards the Daylight or Black Lung Heartache would be. Get this, you won't be disappointed !
2013-04-08
7. Awesome - From the PBS special to the CD/Blu-ray in your own system, this is a superb musical collection. Bonamassa is undoubtedly a master guitarist, but I have found I easily prefer this to his electric performances/recordings. It is not that the other are less than excellent themselves, but this fully acoustic performance is both impressive for the rich simplicity of the arrangements and the clarity of playing and singing by Joe and all the performers. Clean, pleasing sound for both instruments and vocals. A top-notch performance unencumbered by the sometimes oversized electric solos, etc., yet one is still impressed by the musical skills on fully display here.
2013-03-28
8. Wow... just... wow... - I'm literally awe-struck by how beautiful this album is. It's a departure from his other albums, and includes great re-arrangements of his catalogue. A lot of the songs have a very celtic feel to them. Joe is definitely a musician's musician, but anyone can enjoy this. If you've never heard any of Joe's music., this would be an interesting place to start. Existing fans (such as myself) will absolutely love it. Buy it, and enjoy!
2013-03-26
9. Unreal! - I am only songs into this double CD as I write this and it is AMAZING! The version of Dust Bowl is really incredible. I never heard the song Around the Bend until this version. It may be my new favorite song. I can see this becoming one of those classic CD's that NEVER gets old. Like Alice in Chains, Jar of Flies or Iron Maiden, Number of the Beast, etc...
2013-03-21
10. He smoked the opera house! - I watched this on PBS last night - how in the world did those people in the audience keep themselves in their seats? I was rockin' all over the kitchen!! For me his music just gets magically deeper and more golden with every new concert or cd I hear. This ol' lady thinks he's the best thing since the Beatles :)

1. City Boy - I have spent this entire evening listening to Keb' Mo' and I purchased of his masterpieces from ITunes, all the way back to "City Boy" which he wrote and recorded in ! I love his collaborations, and I'm a fan forever! Keb' keep on doin' it I'm gonna drive down to see you when you're in Ohio in April!
2014-01-16
2. A Complete Success - Considered the rd best blues guitarist of all time and probably about the fifth best living behind B.B. King, Robert Cray, Ry Cooder and another or two, Keb' Mo' leads off with the album's best blues guitar riff that revisits both the acoustics and the stylings of old blues greats like Mississippi John Hurt or the early raw recordings of Muddy Waters. This album is one of those rare successes across the board. You can cherry pick a song or two off of it, but you'd be missing out. The flow of the album is worth an hour of your time.

3. Brillant Debut - I disagree with the review and so will you after listening to this album. Thru and thru an outstanding album with not a bad song. You'll appreciate the the heart and soul of this acoutic romp. Listen in order on the first go to appreciate the thought behind everything including the design of the album. When your done pass it on.

4. Just what the Blue's Doctor ordered - Every connoisseur of American music should own this Keb Mo album. This is one of the best representations of what contemporary Folk/Blues guitar music can be and should be: toe-tapping arrangements; thoughtful lyrics artfully wrapping everyday experiences, situations and feelings; and well-produced, but semi-live sounding performance and mix. For my collection of favorites, Keb Mo sets between the more polished and commercial sounds of Robert Cray, and the down-home Reggae/Blues-inspired, folksy style of Corey Harris. Although many tunes like “Every Morning”, “Love Blues”, “Am I Wrong”, “Kindharted Woman Blues”, “Anybody Seen My Girl” and “Dirty Low Down and Bad” (one of my favorite guitar songs to play myself) are just Keb and his guitar (steel-string slide or picking style), one selection like “Tell Everybody I Know”, “Angelina”, “Come in My Kitchen” and “She Just Wants to Dance” are full-band productions. This is good stuff. It is one of those cherished albums in my collection that will get constant replay.

5. Keb' Mo' - I came across this album as I was browsing through a store. By the second song, She Just Wants to Dance, I asked the store keeper who was that soulful voice. I fell in love with this voice and this album. This album will put you in the mood and is a great listen if you enjoy the Blues. Some of the best Blues I've heard in a long time. Best are: She Just Wants to Dance, Anybody Seen My Girl, Dirty Low Down and Bad and Love Blues. Buy this album, you'll have no regrets. Simply Wonderful!.

1. Original & amazing! - I know Keb' Mo' has been on the music scene for well over a decade now, but Suitcase is my first introduction to his talent. I cannot compare this album to his previous works, but I will sing its praises. This is moving and soulful music. I have not been this excited to hear a new musician since Norah Jones appeared. His is a unique voice. I look forward to digging into his vault of past albums and I encourage all to buy this one. He is a talented instrumentalist, a gifted song-writer and has a voice which reaches out from deep within.

2. Still not the Keb' Mo' of old - I keep buying his albums hoping to hear one that rekindles the magic of his first, but I keep being disappointed. This album is nothing like the first. Sadly I think he should go back to covering other peoples material and not trying to showcase his own. I won't buy another Keb' Mo' album.
2007-09-14
3. Refreshing, Melencholy - I'm a year-old classic rock product who had never heard of Keb' Mo' until he opened at a Robert Cray concert in my home town of Colorado Springs. I was pumped about seeing Robert Cray, and only hoped that the opening act didn't stink. As soon as Keb's band got rolling and his vocals began filling the concert hall, I looked at my wife and said "wow, what a great voice!" He was so smooth, both his singing and playing. The man is totally in control of his craft. He doesn't play to you, he takes you with him on every song's voyage. At the end of the night, I overheard many leaving the concert hall reinforcing my thought that Keb' had stolen the show (not to dis Cray, he was terrific in his own right). I desperately seek new music that keeps me at my own roots and takes me home, and Keb' Mo' is like a finding long lost brother on your doorstep. It kind of made me wonder how long he's been there and why didn't I see him sooner? After the concert we bought "Suitcase" and we spin it daily. If you love music, you'll love "Suitcase". If you're hung-up because it's not "real blues", then you're not living in the "real world".

4. I Love This Album. - I'm sitting in the car waiting impatiently for my mom. My day has already been pretty bad. She hops in, and starts the engine. I click on the radio to listen to the same stuff I hear everyday. But no, my mom has to switch it to her regularly stupid CDs. I get aggravated but let it slide, the last thing I need is an arguement on top of my bad day. However, this time, the CD that she plays isn't her typical senseless nothing. It's a jazzy, enjoyable, and happy CD. I ask, "Who's this?" She says, "Keb' Mo'." She tells me, "I went to his concert with Kathy, and he's incredible. He connects with his audience. I remembered Sam was out with his friends so I had to go out in the hall to call and see if he needed me to pick him up, and so I got out of my seat and began to walk out to make the call, and Keb' Mo' says, 'Ay yawning girl! You don't like my music? What's your name?' and I say, 'Molly. But I love your music, I have to make a phone call.' and he says, 'This one goes to you, Molly.' And I made my call." This sounds cheesy, but the CD actually enlightened my day a ton. My personal favorites on this CD are 'The Itch' 'Remain Silent' and 'Life is Beautiful.' But don't just look at my favorites. I recommend the whole CD. Buy it now, it's worth it.

5. Whole Nutha Thang - This album opened a whole world for me. I never really considered myself to be a blues person, but this album has shown me what blues is and can be. I have always listened to classic rock, but Keb has turned me onto Taj, Johnny lee, willie king and a host of others. Thanks Keb. My world is a brighter place thanks to the blues.

6. He is ridiculously talented - I had never heard of Keb' Mo' until I went to a Bonnie Raitt concert where he opened for her, I was immediately hooked, he played a lot of songs from this new album which is what realed me in. Rita, Remain Silent, Eileen. . . where a few that really impressed me. I have since purchased everything I can from him. His first album is a must have in your collection.

7. Keb Mo Suitcase - I never had really listned to Keb Mo at all. But my cousin had told me about him so I decided to check his newest cd out here on Itunes. I must say that I was very impressed. The music just seems to be calming while still being upbeat and intense. I am very happy with this purchase and will be getting a few more of his albums in the months to come.

8. I Salute you Keb Mo - I See Love, is the happiest song. I want to celebrate this man who can sing such mellow happiness. Life Is Beautiful makes me want to breathe him in. The Itch, Rita, Your Love, Whole 'Nutha Thang, all make me want to sway and dance the blues and say thank you, Keb Mo; your music makes my life better.

9. Another classic from Mo' ! - Suitcase is one of Keb' Mo' most solid efforts to date. A great variety of songs that have a certain mood to them. This is an album that should be listened to without skipping a single track, they're all unique and exceptional. The focus is on love and relationship songs. From the introductory "Your love" to the last track "Life is Beautiful" this is a record that won't disappoint ths listener!

1. So Funky You Can Smell It - This man just continues to leave me awestruck. It was the late 's, college, when I first met the Blues by way of Jimi's Red House. I was hooked and craved more of it. I picked up Jimi's Blues album and read everything I could about his influences. I was at Secret Sounds and grabbed a Jimi tribute album with numerous artists but what stood out was Buddy's cover of Red House. I haven't stopped listening to him or going to see him since. The guitar is just simply an expansion of his soul and you hear it again on this album. My all time favorite of his is "One Room Country Little Shack" it just stirs my soul, his playing on these tracks will stir you too.

2. Buddy is the Blues!! - The first time I heard Buddy Guy I got lost in the blues. He plays and sings with so much soul, he puts his life into everything he does. Of course the only thing left to do was to see him live. That I did, in Louisville KY. Together with BB King. Life is complete now. I will never listen to any other kind of music and learn to play the blues. Thank You Buddy

3. Still plays like he's a KId!! - I first saw Buddy in at a little place on the East Side of Buffalo NY. The bar belonged to Jesse James Peterson, Lucky Petersons dad. Buddy knocked the doors off the place and made me a life long fan. Forty two years later he still plays like he did then. He hasn't made a bad record in all the years he's been playing. He's played with all the greats, Muddy, Wolf, Big Mamma Thorton, Junior Wells, Clapton, and Stevie Ray, to name just a few.I have seen him play every time he's performed in Western New York since that night I first saw him and every show was like the first. It never gets old and he don't seem to either. I met him one afternoon in Legends when I was in Chicago and spent a little time talking to him and he was a real gentlemen who took sometime out of his day to talk to an old fan. He truly is a national treasure and the greatest blues artist that ever lived.

4. The Greatest Blues Guitar Alive - With my most humble apologies to BB and Eric, Buddy is the greatest blues guitar player alive and although I have had the honor and pleasure to see him perform on a number of occasions, I always leave thinking it went by way to fast and wondering how many more opportunities I will have to experience that magic. This album is fabulous for anyone of any age who loves the blues and this particular piece of genius is a must!

5. I hope Buddy lives forever - Getting caught up in today's simple music, I catch myself thinking...well this is it I guess, how can musicians make it sound any better?... Then I find myself second row watching and hearing Buddy play some of these songs- wow. He will put chills down your spine he is so great. Unparalleled stage presence too. I'm already worried that no one will ever come close after he goes and younger generations will never experience very real, raw talent that is nothing short of amazing.
2011-01-17
6. Perfect! - I was just five feet from Buddy last winter when he played the Ryman, and a finer display of musicality has rarely been seen, even in that venerable space. This album falls right in line with that performance: gritty, rich, and jaw-droppingly spectacular. Buy this Grammy-winner-to-be now so you can tell all your friends you heard it first!

7. The best music I - Every song was great on this new album. He starts off sounding like the gospel according to Buddy Guy and then he takes those dirty ole blues and rubs your nose all in them, and I loved it. What a great arrangement to some great songs. I am so happy with this new music and no blues collection would be complete without this new music from Buddy Guy. Thanks for the happiness you give me when I hear you play Buddy Guy! "Too Soon" is my new favorite song!
2010-11-19
8. Lord God He Can Play the Blues! - I learned about the blues from white British bands, like Led Zeppelin, John Mayall, Cream and the Beatles, and I loved it. Then I discovered Chess Records people like Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf and Chuck Berry, and I was even more amazed. I moved on through Hendrix, Son House, the Black Keys, the White Stripes, JSBX and Paul Butterfield, and found myself forming an addiction. And then I found Buddy Guy, and I died and went to heaven. All I'm trying to say wityh all this is buy this album and as many others as you can find.

9. and he still rocks harder than most bands would ever dream of! - That is an absolute fact. Take any of those so-called modern "emo" bands and guaranteed that the legendary Buddy Guy has more raw emotion and guitar-playing skills in his pinky finger than these other bands would ever experience in their entire lives! As awesome as his previous album "Skin Deep" was, he continues to get better and more intense with his music on every new release. If his music is this good at , who knows what he'll be doing at , , and beyond! Long live Buddy Guy!
2010-11-14
10. Tight! - To see Buddy Guy live is to watch a master hone his craft. This disc epitomizes the fact great music transcends generations. From Buddy 'handing down' the blues to the younger set, to his hip take on experience in life, he folds both old and new together for all to enjoy. I have seen Buddy at the Playhouse many times and the doorknob always hits me on the way out - - I never want to leave his shows, and you'll never want to leave the good times behind that he brings. Hail Hail Blues by Buddy!
2010-11-11
11. one of best blues albums ever - This is one of the best blues albums ever. These are songs from the heart, not just copies of classics. Each one can become a classic in itself. It's not overproduced. The guitar playing and singing are superb. I would compare this to Clapton's From the Cradle, except that Buddy actually wrote most of these tunes. They are actually new songs. And unlike many of Clapton's latest CDs which suffer from excessive use of compression when being mixed, this CD is produced just right. Great guitar tones. Great duet with BB King. Check out his last CD as well - also a classic.

12. Mr. Buddy Guy - I have stood all night in zero below in chicago to see this legend at Legends for many years. Had a many of beers and great times, seen him all over the country Love Mr. Guy Marty Sammon Ric Hall Orlando Wright and Big Tim. Thank you so much guys for the fun filled years and momories. This Album is awesome and thanks for making it do another one soon. See you in January....

1. Not Feeling It - Let me preface by saying I’m a huge fan, but I really hope this is a one and done for this group. If you like repetitious riffs and repetitious lyrics maybe this album’s for you but not for me. The only thing this music is good for is background music at a Cajun Seafood & Crawfish fest or a Down Home Southern food restaurant. I mean who’s listening to this ? There’s not one song on this album that I ever need or want to hear again. Sorry, really hate killing one of my favorite groups but please get back to the style that made El Camino one of my all-time favorite albums.

2. Gettin' back to their roots - After the absolutely horrible, poppy-sounding--and ironically-titled--"Let's Rock", it's good to hear the Keys getting back to their blues rock sound from their earlier albums--at least, with these newly-released cuts of "Crawling Kingsnake". I'm giving the album a mid-range rating for now because although these "Kingsnake" cuts are promising, I'm wary of the other songs possibly being more of the poppy songs they've been releasing lately. Let's hope they continue to rock the other songs!

2. Soulful and carefully crafted - Keb’ Mo’s musical journey continues to mature while he remains true to his roots. This album is a perfect example of what happens when an artist mixes his talent, experience and his soul. "Somebody Hurt You” is a true testament to his unique and unmatched guitar playing and singing — a powerful song with simple lyrics and "to the point” guitar playing. Keb’ Mo’ manages to deliver with every song without playing a single unnecessary note. So Long Goodbye is a song that anyone who’s ever been in a relationship can relate to, and is a true expression of Keb’ Mo’s sensibilities. BLUESAmericana is an attempt to define the Keb’ Mo’ sound in a word, and it delivers.

1. Great album (ignore the “critics”) - If Joe puts out an album inspired in blues but it’s got other influences, the haters come raining down. If the album combines classic blues or a modern rock blues album, “critics” raining down all the same. I am grateful that JB’s making music. Regardless of whether I may not like some albums as much as others, that’s what music and art are about, IMO. Thanks Joe, and thanks Bonamassa team. This album is, for me, great. Get it!

2. Joe Cool Bonamassa - I must have been under a rock but I just discovered Joe about a year ago. I been so impressed with the live recordings and now I got the Redemtion album. Wow. I have noticed you uses a lot of the same people in his live shows and on his albums. A tallented group of individuals I must say that blend into musical magic moments! Hope to see him live soon!
2019-03-27
3. He can SING! - Joe has always been a fantastic guiter player and blues performer, but, recently, he actually showing he knows how to sing! STRONGER IN THE BROKEN PLACES is a poignant and powerful performance filled with gut wrenching nuance. I guess hanging with Beth hart is paying dividends. Atta boy, Joe!

4. Redemption - I saw Joe,// in Shreveport La., the best performance by any band I've seen in my yrs on earth . The band have more talent than most bands I've seen, and I've been going to rock shows since ,If you go you'll see and hear what I'm saying is true,oh yea the back up singers are hot ,so there ya go!

5. Another Blues Record - Based on the awesome title track Redemption, this will be another Album on the Billboard Blues Chart when it drops on September st. The title track song is exceptional and the video is great too.
I had the pleasure of seeing Joe Bonamassa in concert a few moths ago and he played another song from this new album, "just 'cos you can don't mean you should" which is also another great song. Looking forward to purchasing and jamming out to this new album.

1. Keeping the blues alive - Look, I get that Joe doesn’t play these tunes with the same soul that Muddy Waters or Howling Wolf did. Joe didn’t grow up on those cotton plantations and live the lives those great blues innovators did. What I do give Joe, Gary Clark, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, etc. credit for is keeping blues alive and teaching new generations what real music played by real musicians is like. Give the guy a break.
2015-09-06
2. Red Rocks - Frankly I've never heard of this guy until I went on FaceBook this morning and Billboard was giving away one of his albums "FREE" so I promptly opened my i-Tunes and decided to give him a listen. If I liked what I heard then of course I would download it.....free is free! Sorry, I feel that he would only be taking up room on my computer and i-pod.
The guy is good no doubt...."BUT".... his guitar playing is thin (no real drive) and his songs are boring. He would never compare to rockers like SRV or KWS who perfected their craft before they put out their first album. Like I said, the guy's good but I think I'll save my money. His style of playing just doesn't do it for me.
2015-07-18
3. Holy Cow. - This live show puts a "modern" twist on the blues classics, and Joe does his magic per usual. It's fantastic, especially with a double trouble legend at the keys. Negativity only can go so far; If you don't like it, then why listen to it? Maybe Creed or Nickelback is more your style, if you find this to be "bad". But hey, it's all subjective.

4. Thank you, Joe Bonamassa - Joe Bonamassa is a giant among his contemporaries, a true talent in an era when most music is lacking any real depth or substance. What a talented young man! I've always said most real music died around . However, contemporary musicians like Joe give me hope and make me realize good music is still alive. In my opinion Joe stands shoulder to shoulder with the great guitarists like Clapton, Stevie Ray, Hendrix, D. Allman, and Gary Moore. This tribute to the Blues and Blues legends is right up there with, what I think was Clapton's best album, "From the Cradle". Thank you, Joe Bonamassa!!

5. Joe deserves respect - I don't understand the negativity towards Joe and this album. Joe totally respects the artist that made the blues. This is a tribute to them in Joes way. Joe is a blues musician in every way. He's played with the greats. Do you think they feel the way the negative review do? I don't think so. BB King helped Joe from an early age and respects Joe as much as Joe respects him. Joe Bonamassa has debuted more albums on Billboards Blue album chart than any other blues guitarist. Joe has albums next closest it BB King with . Joe is doing something right. Please give him the respect he deserves.

6. Blues Revival - Make no mistake Joe B. doesn’t try to be a Muddy Water or Buddy Guy and Howling Wolfe . He is just Joey from upstate NY. and He will be the first to admit it. Ive followed his career since he was a boy and still focused and striving for the blues…To hear negative reviews are pregidisious and unwelcome by me for I’m a fan but we all have opinions like ^&$%@! everyone has one!!!

7. A bridge to the classic blues. - There are one or two reviews here that allude to "feeling sorry" for current blues fans. There is some merit to that sentiment - the performances on this release in no way compare to the originals, but that's ok. This release is intended as a tribute & should lead novice blues listeners to seek out the originals for themselves & discover the magic there. There are moments of inspired playing here & JB always brings killer solos to the table. The songs themselves are the key ingredient & one would hope that, as good a performance on "You Shook Me", or "Evil" is presented here, let this release spark the curiosity to those who don't know to listen to those Chess releases & be blown away.

8. REALLY !! - Corporate sell out to polished over rated...REALLY I've seen all the so called legends of blues multiple times Page , Winter, Roy Buchannan, SRV , Beck ,EC get the picture...The guy that compares that band to a good bar band what bar are you hanging out in...Those cats are a world class..And theres another genius that claims he was better way back in when he saw him in a dive bar...He was just another dude back than...He's music has evolved evertime out...I will agree it might be time to give it a rest with touring and new alblums....I've seen him live twice he pours his heart out everytime he takes the stage, I will see him again in Seattle May th can't wait...I don't know everything about music but I have been around it my hole life....A mark of a superstar is how the industry see's him he has some of the great's playing on his CD'S and is asked to appear on there's....I agree the blues has a different sound these days....IT'S CALLED MODERNIZING THE SOUND !!! So keep comparing all the current blues guys that cover the old timers music and keep on hating because it sounds different.... I would guess some of the stars play music...enjoy your gig at the center rec. in front of people mostly freinds and family, and JB will continue to realese great CD'S like Red Rocks .GOD I'M GLAD IT SOUNDS DIFFERENT BECAUSE IT'S AWESOME !!! Rock on superstar see you soon !!!

9. Just keeps getting better! - Anyone that say’s this is crap doesn’t know anything about the roots of rock and roll. This is a great performance with a great band. This is an awesome tribute from one of the best guitarists in the world right now and for him paying tribute to two of his influences is cool. I like some of Joe’s versions of these songs over Cream and Led Zeppelin and his playing is phenomenal. The use of vintage guitars and amps give the sound authenticity and validity. I first saw Joe live around and not many people showed up for an amazing performance but I’m glad he hooked up with such great people and is able to release such incredible performances. The lack of appreciation shown by some of the reviewers just shows their lack of musical knowledge and probably the reason Joe and so many other blues artists play in Europe so much and us real fans don't get the opportunity to see him as much as we’d like. Get to a live show of his one time and you’ll change your opinion.

10. A great musician who cares about the history of the music. - I don't understand all of the haters. I don't think you have to be an old black man to be an authentic blues musician. Joe Bonamassa is extremely talented and a great promoter of the history of rock and blues. For those of you saying he's too "corporate" now, is that because he wears a suit on stage? Look at how much Joe supports public television. Isn't that pretty much the opposite of corporate? Joe has done so many different projects, working with various musicians and genres. I have a ton of respect for the guy. Personally, I think this is a great live performance and a neat concept. My favorite track is "All Night Boogie."

11. joe bonamassa muddy wolf at red rock - I agree, Joe has become too polished. But I agree. He’s one of the few keeping the Blues goin.
And to appreciate his work, you need to listen to his body of work. My only complaint is that I can’t even download this thing. I only got two songs? What’s up I Tunes?
2015-04-01
12. The Music - I personally have not heard of anyone carrying the Blues Banner any better and I am thankful as I enjoy the heck out of it. If you are a traditionalist this may not be for you even Joe will tell you that his music does not fit any music genre fully. I know that the music fits my soul perfectly much like many of the newer so called blues musicians. One last note why do you think Waters and Wolf allowed this to be done if they didn’t appreciate the quality of the music. We all have music within a genre that we like and dislike but it does not make it that genre. Enjoy it ya all !!!

1. Saw him in at the Mountain Winery - Not only was he an influence on Hendrix, he's still evolving. Hilarious stage performer. At one point he asked if the audience knew Eric Clapton…proceeds to play part of Layla with his rear end and transitions into Hendrix's Voodoo Child. I couldn't believe I was watching a septuagenarian…fantastic!

2. I love Buddy Guy too, but - loving the man doesn't mean you have to love his newest record. Somewhere in the s Buddy figured out that white audiences wanted Jimi Hendrix instead of Muddy Waters and his playing hasn't been the same since. His Chess recordings are magical, so is the stuff he put out in the s and early s. He played with passion and fire but there was restraint and moderation. Nowadays it all sounds like Beer commercial blues. If I never hear another blues duet it will be too soon, I don't care if people like this album or not, just know that there are far better records worth buying.

1. Excellent!!! - I love Joe! I have seen him a bunch of times and gone on his "Keeping the Blues Alive" cruises. I can't wait to hear these live in February while I sail the ocean. What a phenomenal artist! You just get lost in his music, you move, you feel, you love! !!!
Thanks Joe for another amazing album. I really love You've got to love her with a feeling.

2. Best One Yet - I'm pretty sure I own every album Joe has put out and I can say with certainty that this is the best one yet. Not only are Joe's guitar chops impeccable but his vocals are better than ever. But the real beauty of this album is the amazing band backing him up to include a horn section and a backup vocal section. There are times when I find myself transfixed by the dynamics the band plays with, the interplay between the drums and the bass and the incredible layers that the horns and keys add to each song. If you love music and listening to a band serve the songs, this album is a must have. Best $ I've spent in a long time.

3. Not quite there - I'm afraid this is a bit of a misstep for Joe B. The Albert King songs will be welcome for those who aren't familiar with the originals, but seem to be missing some of Albert's soul. Credit to Joe for doing so many previously unrecorded songs, but this just doesn't measure up to all his previous live efforts. A disappointment.

1. Credit Due - I saw Taj Mahal perform in a small auditorium in Fairbanks, Alaska in ' or ', please forgive my memory. He was so intense, I noticed the iTunes expert reviewer commented on this saying he was clapping the beat, perhaps to change the tempo of the band in another concert. In this show it was notable to me that as the band members might tap a toe or shake their bodies to the beat, Taj vibrated at least a th beat, maybe th beat, super intense. Nothing to do with drugs, please. Also he played his choice of instruments, all with excellence. He was the Maestro, no doubt, and he wanted to make a show to remember. The band did this trick, you would watch and listen to an instrument's lead and all of the sudden he would put his instrument down, but his lead continued, without break, that sound had been copied by another player playing a different instrument so slyly that you didn't notice he had slipped in playing piano that sounded just like the guitar that you were watching. They did it several times with different instruments as a tour de force. I remember feeling that he and the band treated our small audience like we were royalty and I will never forget how wonderful they sounded. This review is in small part to repay that favor, this person and the band members that were lucky enough to accompany him are masters of their craft and as such cannot be outclassed by anyone. This review is not for any album here in particular, there are so many that span a long period. The subject though is the talent and class of Taj Mahal, a supreme showman, with great heart. I think that says it.

2. A 'Must Have' for Blues Lovers - If you are just getting into the blues, or are a long time follower of this style, this album should be one of your "Desert Island Disks." Many classic blues tunes here, done by a long time master of the genre. Give it a listen, you will listen again, and again, and again, and again.
2009-06-22
3. Good Stuff - Taj Mahal's sound is like The Band with Otis Redding out front. very soulful bluesy sound with simple straightforward licks - not overdone. You will enjoy this - especially Leaving Trunk, She Caught the Katy, and Corinna. I bought the Rolling Stones' Rock n Roll Circus DVD last week and Taj has one song on the main feature, but has bonus tracks buried in the extras which are every bit as good. The Stones always did have an eye for talent on the rise. Possibly one of the most under-rated performers from the ''s if you think about how ahead of his time Taj was - in when freaks and hippies ruled the earth, this guy was singing some pretty mean blues. Good stuff.
