1. Broadcaster par excellence - When there was no tv and the otherwise independent media had limited influence, BBC was second name for objective reporting. Having enjoyed their Hindi and Urdu services also in the eighties and nineties now I am a die hard fan of their English reporting. Wma, Allahbad india
2021-02-19
2. Me - The objectivity, journalistic standards and presentation are wonderful as long as they don’t concern any mainstream political subjects of United Kingdom.
While there is a pretence of left leaning, empathetic to poor and suffering, there is never really a craving for objectivity in matters of wealth and poverty, exploitation of the poor and poor nations, geo-political interests bordering on a hunger to devour! The reporting appears ludicrous whenever it begins to speak about China, Russia, Putin, xi jinping, Venezuela, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Afganistan, wiki leaks, Asange, Snowden and so on subjects, the tone and content is not very different from the expression of sychophants in Banana Republics! But that may be what most pro- establishment Brits think, feel and know as laws of nature and the world created by God! Yet, BBC is helpful as reporting agency, when the topics are not within their core interests, or about which they can never be objective, like espousing the right keep the gold from dying starving Venezuelans, and queuing up to hand it over to a despicable CIA mercenary like Juan Guaido, sounding how an outlaw is Maduro Government ruling Venezuela, and recognised by a hundred and fifty countries but not recognised by USA and it’s Cohorts! Real objectivity shows when it is about yourself! God bless BBC! It is an useful player!

3. Wonderful podcast - I just love to start my day and end my day listening to this podcast. I would be humble to participate in any programs for this podcast. It covers most of the important world news for each day, happy to hear sometimes about news about my own country too- India. Here’s love from India for this podcast and wish success. I would recommend GNP to anyone

4. I pity the foolishness of my fellow Indians... - I see pompous speeches on British colonialism down in the comments which of course is ruthless for all the colonies of British, but taking it out on a British news channel which is reporting what’s really happening in Kashmir unbiasedly without any government influences where indian media is failing to the core and degrading the values of fourth estate, is “foolishness”, stop fighting for the freedom which we already own... think about the freedom of Kashmir people suffering with the halt of social communication in st century for almost weeks, while we have the privilege of listening podcasts and to complain about British colonialism, our fellow brothers and sisters of Kashmir can’t even know the welfare of their families, if you still don’t have any idea on intensity of the problem, try not touching your phone for days, then you can surely complain about British biased BBC.
I sincerely appreciate BBC for bringing the real news out for us.
2019-09-22
5. Great news coverage - Despite fox new and other fake news that covers biased news BBC covers accurate news. BBC reporters work to bring out news in most truthful forms. Ignore all those reviews saying they’re building negative hindu image its false BBC is reporting what happened not what a political party broadcasting. The news is accurate and real. I hope bbc also covers Kashmir issue and Mexican border.
2019-09-19
6. Good worldwide overview but biased - The show gives you a good dose of the global stories first thing to start your day with. Extensive and relevant coverage of international politics, environment etc. Lack on coverage of business news, stock market stories etc. A bit biased against certain countries and world leaders.
2019-08-27
7. This review may not really change things...but still - Bias...Colonialism...One sided...Racist...Self seeking...are things already mentioned about the BBC The best option after several years of subscribing - is to leave the BBC’s written, spoken and visual reporting and choose a more balanced medium. Or frame one’s opinions by other means. Goodbye. And knowing how it works - I guess no regrets on either side!!
2019-08-22
8. Still Living in old charm Britain has passed its charm so is its bbc - Britain has done tremendous harm to many civilisations but still it thinks its in command of the world and its organ bbc behaves like a self styled leader about everything on this earth but both are sadly mistaken their own house is in doldrums please give unbiased coverage India is a sovereign nation we can not be dictated by those who have passed their prime and nobody Listens to them
2019-08-10
9. Broad but biased - In India Hindus - despite being the most accommodating of all people - face the bias of negative coverage from bbc. Unfortunately rapes and murders are not unusual in today’s world. Muslims are portrayed as a victim of “right wing Hindu mobs” for the most minor crimes and given lavish coverage. When the victim is a Hindu either there is no coverage or it is made to look like a general crime or given non religious reasons deliberately. Ignoring the hard line conversion activities by other religions in India, Hindus are regularly portrayed as intolerant. Change your tone BBC and reduce bias.
2019-07-12
10. Mostly good but-ve Biased about India topics? - What I’ve observed over course of last . years of listening to your podcasts is that the amplification of negativity when some news (mostly negative) is covered from India. I can speak about India since I live there. For eg a recent coverage about a lynching incident(?) in Banglore received quite some news time from you. But this was not even Bangalore and was not even a topic here locally. This has been my observation so far. It’s fair to say that despite living in India, I myself am surprised on occasions with some practices followed- but I observe to understand and not resort to judgement or arm chair criticism. Your “believeability” takes a hit every time you amplify some negative news. That apart, I’m still in the mode of listening to your podcasts. Kind Regards

11. Highly recommended - My day will not end without listening to this amazing podcast. They are so crisp and clear about the events happening across the world. I imagine myself walking through the events every time I listen to this amazing podcasts. I strongly recommend everyone to listen and get addicted to this amazing podcasts .

1. Biased when political, good when economics - Watched episode Understanding UP Ram Roti and Rojgar. It kind of felt like most backward people speaking on podcast. U guys still talking about cast calculations when UP has moved on. Ive watched ur episode on ladaki hun. That episode was biased towards congress. They basically pained picture that Ladaki campaign is most successful campaign in UP. ET gives good episode when economy. But they suuck when it comes to politics.

1. Absolutely essential - A crisp and informative show. No nonsense, just plain old reporting done right. Their deep dives into hot topics are so well researched and presented. Shashank and Snigdha have become a part of my daily routine. Logged into Apple podcasts just to leave a star review as the app on which I hear podcasts does not allow me to rate. They deserve a lot of praise for this show. Good job guys.
2022-01-20
2. Amazing news podcast - Amazing in terms of quality, clarity, neutrality of current affairs and what’s going on around. Shashank and Snigda are doing fantastic job. Neha is certainly missed. The experts no doubt bring in lots of information about each topic. Keep up good work. Some areas to improve would be native pronunciation while referring regional names and stuff. Also reporters from states of his/her origin would be better which is in some cases and in others, not. This helps in reporters understanding the local pulse.
2021-10-24
3. Good Show - I have started listening for a couple of weeks now and like the breadth and issues being covered though may not agree with the views. I am sure that everyone will look forward to a media that is unbiased and will include both the achievements and failings and offer suggestions based on the ground realities. Thanks to all of you for bringing news and podcasts to keep us all updated even in the midst of the pandemic. All of you are also a part of our frontline warriors and our salutes and wishes for the safety and well-being of you and your families
2020-05-23
4. Quality over quantity - things has been a great find for me. They go into detail about some hand picked stories that are worth sharing over a wide range of subjects, although with a slight centre left bias. My only gripe with the show is that there’s only one topic discussed everyday. If they could expand this to a minute show discussing two or three topics, that’d be great!

1. AF-PAK - AF-PAK can of worms. A great analysis giving us clarity on a topic and region which is full of opaque mist. Thanks Shekhar.
Cut the clutter- on Shraddha Walkar murder was masterfully done with cold logic and facts, shorn of melodrama and hype. Thanks. Would love to have more such interactive sessions.
2022-11-19
2. Excellent - Thanks for cutting the clutter. Enjoying the podcast. One small suggestion. We can have a daily -minute episode covering all the significant happenings nationally and internationally, which will be helpful for students preparing for current affairs exams, and we don't need to hear the soap news on most TV channels.

3. Comments on Print J and K episode - . It’s naive to think , that systemic, pervasive , radicalism can be discarded in years . The speaker conveniently forgot to bring out statistics of steep and sharp decline in Terrorism related incidents , the silent Line of Control and declining economy of Pakistan speaks for itself .
. A visit to Kashmir would tell all , the valley can be reached in hrs flat from Jammu , the roads are world class , tourism is peaking , most importantly the terrorism targets have changed from seeking to target security forces and army in particular and drug induced and jihad fed mobs ransacking posts and invading roads is a thing of the past , the targets now are individual police personnel in mufti or minorities in remote areas this is a sharp change which the mentors in Pak have not been able to control .
. The transgressions with PLA in Ladakh began in when China realised that the chasm in the economy had widened enough to take up Aksai Chin and China was in a position to take on US . To ignore this elephant in the room would be naive’. The division of Ladakh was merely an excuse but what happened thereafter has helped India’s security denizens refocus on China and China now realises it . Hearing the podcast one felt that what was happening pre was good and a return to the rerun of that era would be better .

4. SG should go to a Toastmasters course! - In terms of knowledge and depth of understanding the issue SG is indeed a veteran. I also like his balanced approach on all the issues. However his presentation style needs to improve. There are far too many pauses, usage of filler words, “has” and “uhms “ which dilutes the listening joy. Please check out with a Toastmasters Club nearby. It will help not only him but the rest of the young reporters as well
2020-06-16
5. Doctor is a ardent BJP support - In Episode - the doctor is clearly politically motivated. He is not at all interested in science part. He says I can prove this and prove that but gives no concrete proof. Also keeps talking about graph, but never said that we still have many problems in testing. He said we should immunise population with BCG, seriously !? If this was so simple why couldn’t other large research groups stumble upon this? Is he even a doctor?
2020-04-05
6. News analysis the way it’s supposed to be - There’s a strong need to look at events, understand why they matter, go back from what happened to why it happened and go forwards to what might happen next. All of this needs to be packaged so that it’s consumable and comprehendible. This podcast seems to do exactly that. It’s an informed person’s opinion on a relevant topic, shared in – minutes. It’s delivered with passion, not hysterics. It’s thoughtful, easy to consume and it invites participation via comments. From what I can tell so far, it has no hint of political bias — a rarity in today’s atmosphere. It looks like Shekhar’s playing fair and making a good-faith effort to tell the truth.

The Seen and the Unseen, hosted by Amit Varma, features longform conversations that aim to give deep insights into the subjects being discussed. Timeless and bingeworthy.

1. John felman episode - Ajay kept interrupting and talking over and finishing Joshs sentences. I understand josh is a very slow speaker and takes time to formulate his thoughts but Ajay was being impatient to the point of annoying or at least that was how it came off. I know Ajay and josh are very good friends. The conversation did get very interesting once Ajay left but the conversation slowed down even more.
2023-03-23
2. Amazing conversations - Amit’s podcast covers a variety of topics of general interest. He engages in long conversations with his guests, and delves deep into all the aspects of both the guests’ personal background as well as the topic of the episode. With each episode offering something of value, this is one unmissable, high quality podcast show from India. The best part is that it keeps getting better with each episode and the latest one with Jerry Pinto is simply enchanting!
2023-02-04
3. Content , diction - The content of the show is alright, but the length is too much. They need to make edits and make it crisp. Also , the pronunciation of some words from the host like “dat” for “that “ is quite distracting. It takes the focus away from the podcast. If one is investing on a career in podcast , then need to work on the correct pronunciation as well . I hope they make some changes. Otherwise some great work . Thumbs up.
2023-01-10
4. As an editor, this is painful - Insightful conversation on important subjects, but this podcast just doesn’t respect its audience’s time. It reeks of indulgence and is in severe need of a fresh perspective. Telling a story is an art, and so is the ability to tell it without rambling on for hours. No two people talking will ever be that interesting or important to deserve a third of your waking hours in a day.
2022-11-05
5. Nice but needs trimming - I love listening but worried at the trend on increasing length of the show! Ideally it would be minutes and crisp. mins is easily pluggable into people’s daily life. hr is not ! I enjoy listening to noted economists and their thoughts on what can be done to make India deliver on its promise !
2022-08-19
6. Great one indeed, would recommend to all - I ended up here through the Barkha Dutt episode,as I was following her on Twitter. It turned out that I listen to that episode at a stretch during a drive. From then on, it has been a wonderful journey. This podcast in fact has driven me into the wonderful world of podcasts.
2022-06-29
7. Elite Podcaster !! - The podcast is very good and all but the characteristics of the host is Elite. He doesn’t like someone’s mild critic and think it as a Troll. Recently I tweeted him explaining my thoughts on “Emergency " episode and he blocked me on Tweeter I feel disappointed. He became first to block me on social media platform.
2022-06-13
8. Too good! - This is the best podcast ever! Before starting with the show, I was not very sure because the conversations were going to be long format. But I was hooked from day one, all the credit to the host - Amit Varma who is so well rounded, constructs conversations with so much clarity, asks the right questions, listens, and speaks only wisdom!
2021-12-07
9. Great Topics! Prejudiced against Modi - Amit Verma is a wonderful host touching upon various hot topics ranging from Political Economy, Social Environment and general reading such as sports or movies. The duration of the podcast is long but is very rich so I actually, prefer the long duration. His guests are highly accomplished people in their field so learning from them is very refreshing. However, his anti-Modi stance is evident in every episode. He never misses a chance to criticise him. His views on policies such as demonitization and GST implementation are extreme and aren’t open to contrary point of views. Apart from this, he is open to discuss ideologically opposite ideas such as conservationalism. (He is a liberal) Overall wonderful podcast for people who need more insights into day to day happenings and want to improve their understanding of the world around them.
2021-07-14
10. Best podcast host ever! - Not just my favourite Indian podcast but arguably my favourite podcast ever! I love the host, Amit Varma’s keen listening capabilities, giving the guest an unbridled freedom to put forth their opinions before formulating such insightful questions in response. The topics are very informative, they arouse a thirst for more knowledge and I don’t even mind listening to the commercial breaks!
2021-07-09
11. Guests are amazing, but host runs political agenda - I recently came across this podcast. The guests were quite good, they had amazing opinions, pro-government and against government, with all the right logic to support or oppose government. Then the politically biased host comes, and tries to make a selective point of how government is doing bad. He in a decent way, shuts down guest's neutru views and imposes his own. Feels like they're running political propaganda, when I just came here to learn about something. People should not be blind followers or opposers of any one. Neither listening to Arnab is sensible nor Ravish Kumar. They should weigh Evey decision with open mind. I wish this podcast exists without the host.
2020-05-13
12. Quite intriguing - Every podcast gives a new perspective about the each topics and makes you wonder there are lot to learn and no matter how much we know about something there is always unseen side of it where most of the time we either ignore it or it doesn’t suits our own interest and thought process. Thank you Amit Varma!
2020-04-13
13. star for the effort but... - Inviting one guest (of your choice...of course an author of a book generally) and discussing on a topic not recommended especially on controversial topics. Get one or two guests more to counter views. It may be subject expert or one can oppose the views of author of the book under discussion. Any how you have plenty of time for discussion which I love most about the show. I suggest you can note down main bullet point of show point and summarise and end of the show. Kudos for the great effort and wish this show become biggest hit.
2020-01-19
14. In India everybody pays Indirect tax.. really - This comment is on episode : Economy of India in . The Shah Rukh of Economics of India says, so what if only % pays income tax in India, anyway everybody pays indirect tax (GST). I had a good laugh when he said that. If you are looking for funny podcast on the subject of economics, this podcast is highly recommended. Everybody is supposed to pay indirect tax, but do they really pay?
2020-01-08
15. Like the topics chosen, but not as much the opinions - Amit’s podcast is one of the few to have explored different topics and issues acros a wide spectrum, from history to contemporary, from arts to science. I really like the choice of disucssion topics and some of the speakers brought in. As far as political topics are concerned, i feel the discussion is biased often only painting one side of the story. You dont have to sing praises about the current regime, but there is a reason why they have been voted to power back to back. If he can balance this part, I think it sould be great podcast for all.
2019-11-04
16. In my mind, the best Indian podcast out there - Amit's show is, in my mind, the best Indian podcast out there. Informative, engaging, funny at times, challenging and such good quality guests. He's able to get under a topic so well so even people who know nothing about the topic take something away. hours feels like half an hour, really. Fabulous. PS: The fact that there are several -star ratings by butthurt folks who have stopped believing in facts, shows that this show is excellent!
2019-10-20
17. Brilliant and Insightful podcast - The Seen and The Unseen has been a constant mind tickler and a superb source of information. I’ve been following the podcast for about two years now and have come across brilliant analogies which have challenged my views and sometimes forced me to reconsider my opinions. Thanks Amit sir. You’ve made this show brilliant, and one I eagerly wait for every week.
2019-09-02
18. Educative but biased - Amit Verma gets some great guests on this show. I especially liked listening to Tony Joseph (Early Indians), Shruti Rajagoplan (Judiciary) etc. But Amit Verma himself is a bit of letdown at times due to his biases. I say take the positive facts from this show and try to forget the leftist negative opinion/rant that is aired sometimes
2019-09-01
19. The rumours about biases are true... - To anyone who thinks this show is anti-BJP, they most probably haven’t even heard it. The host is most definitely biased, he has no qualms hiding his biases about being a libertarian. It’s quite funny that a libertarian is considered to be opposite to the only ‘right’ wing party in Indian politics. Though populist might be a better label at this point.

1. Poorly researched & too much fluff - Expected better from Ken. Two issues: A) Show notes are missing - no research is done before publishing. Its just the same sensational news from ET with no fact check or linking to news source. B) Too much unneeded music in between. The - minutes has repetitive content with same sentences being said every minutes.

1. Unabashed bias, no attempt at providing alternate viewpoints - Presentation:
The presentation is good. The format is brief, lighthearted and easy to listen. Content:
I’ve listened for few weeks but I realize they pick and choose their topics and events to propagate the specific slant of their views. No effort to offer perspectives other than preferred one. I understand they are small and in this day and age you can’t expect a detached purview of things. But such a consistent and focussed slant with choice topics is the stuff propaganda is made of. Conclusion:
So I guess if you want to cover all colors of the spectrum to broaden your understanding, you can pick this channel for covering (just) one color.

and of course, if the quality of the audio tapes could be better. i feel like they’re crucial to the case but can’t make them out coz they’re a bit unclear. again i understand they’ve been recorded on a mobile phone, hence the unclarity.

1. Episode - Control Pique - Another excellent episode. Love the details and references to films and history. I am curious to understand what the common Chinese Han thinks of their Uyghur and Tibetan compatriots. In my time in Beijing I was intrigued to find that there was zero support for the Uyghur issue from the local Hans. I saw the same disdain and under currents of paranoia among the Han residents in Kasghar and Urumqi when I visited Xinjiang. Would love to hear your take.

release date: 2023-03-19
1. Great show ! But... - The show is great ! Most of the topics are very relevant and the Fareed does a nice job of getting an interesting panel to discuss topics ! star less - have been hearing this show since years. The no of advertisements has gone up, which is understandable. The annoying part though is these adds have a very high volume and very loud music, causing me to scramble to lower/raise the volume throughout the show. Please correct this !

1. Insightful, informative and just plain interesting - What hooked me to this weekly (now twice) tech update was the no-holds barred style, these two will say exactly what they feel without any sugar coating. Scott’s perspectives and his ability to connect dots is testament to his breadth of experience and his depth of industry knowledge. The time I spend listening to Pivot is precious and I something I look forward to. Lots of respect to you guys. The music could use a little work though :)

3. The equivalent of Unputdownable - What started off as something I listened in to , under duress on a driving holiday with my son earlier this year, has ended up becoming one of most favourite podcasts. The banter, the slick and to point analysis, of businesses that the world wants to keep track of( I’m in India) makes me come back diligently everyday week.

1. Fascinating content and worth every minute - I stumbled across Kushal’s podcast while doing some casual YouTubing. Previously, although I always had a lot of questions regarding religion, society and culture, I didn’t put an effort to learn much about them. My profession didn’t bring me in touch with much of those parts either and I always used to think of them as vague and opaque. But the systematic viewpoint from which discussions are made in the podcast not only provide a good understanding on the issues, but also helped me develop a profound interest in such matters. The podcasts are long but I always watch them in one go because they’re always fascinating and worth every minute. I’d like to thank Kushal for creating the Carvaka Podcast and working very hard to make the content interesting and systematic.

1. The epitome of brevity - Love the music by Axel, and Anushka is too professional in all the episodes, consistently. Kudos to the research team, the topics and it’s composition within minutes is quite extra ordinary. I enjoy the topics too, they are very much in vogue and makes you think and feel very informed and up to date!
