1. Not Expected from Bloomberg - This is not the kind of journalism I expect from Bloomberg or its journalists, leaking business meetings is not similar to political meeting leaks where facts are supposed to be in public domain, WeWork is not a PUBLIC company yet, doesn’t the reporter or Bloomberg know about aborted IPO. I am a WeWork member and it is the finest place to work in this country at the moment, especially for startups! I get an impression what media and investors are doing to WeWork’s image is an old soap repeating itself out, remember Steve Jobs and Apple Computers, Travis Kalanick and Uber, Jack Dorsey and Twitter and so on. I therefore feel we need to get greater appreciation of immigrants like Adam Neumann and not bank on their wealth if this kind of character assassinations are to be carried out to founders for misdeeds of platform users. Bloomberg and Ms Reporter - GET A LIFE!
2020-08-07
2. Poor journalism - This is the kind of journalism you expect from amateurs. Picking up a couple of disgruntled employees, hyping up their stories, trying to connect dots that don’t exist. So many of the incidents you mention (eg. team meetings, late nights, booze parties, etc) are the same features of highly successful startups and companies as well. So why try so hard to connect random dots? Anyone with half a business sense can tell you how useless this podcast series is. I have been an avid listener of the Odd Lots podcast, but this one is just downright childish and the reporter does not seem to understand business at all (for example - WeWork slashed its profit guidance by %. Do you not know that like most other startups WeWork’s profit was minimal for the first few years - so an % slash wasn’t much to talk about for a company with a low base effect). I pushed myself to listen to the first episodes, but I have had enough. Bloomberg - please get journalists with business acumen to provide balanced points of view.
(I am not associated with WeWork in any kind of way)
