1. Has Tara ever actually struggled? - Has Tara ever actually struggled? In Tara’s anger podcast from November , she talks about the moment in her life where she was most angry which describes an event in which her teenage son of the time had stolen snacks and she found out from other parents. This sentiment of her most angry point in her life is so mind-boggling to me and she seems really out of touch of what the world is struggling with but uses her practice to help people who are deeply suffering to cope with things and yet she can’t really actually relate. it’s left a really bad taste in my mouth and it’s hard to shake the feeling that this is just an entitled white woman that has never actually had to struggle.

3. My refuge - This podcast has been a true companion to me. It is so down to earth yet so spiritual. It is so grounding and calming to me and for that I am grateful. She is so relatable yet so wise. She has taught me a lot about meditation and Buddhist philosophy but I love how she mixes it with everyday type of storytelling, humor, metaphors, and anecdotes. It is a phenomenal mixture. I feel like she truly values and integrates all of her knowledge from all experiences, texts, and lessons that she has come in contact with. It creates such a very interesting and unique depth and width. I would like for it not to include as much refer to political events (even if those are important) as I think that tends to activiate everyone (myself included) and I have plenty of that already. I love the body practices and really looking at the body, mind, and spirit. Thank you!

4. This is how I developed a consistent meditation practice!!!! - After years of sporadic meditation, I found this podcast and day after day I come and meditate with Tara! 5. Changed my life - This podcast has changed my life. I found it at a time I was hurting profoundly. I jumped right in SK i didn’t fully understand the references at first. But Tara’s voice is warm and welcoming and I kept coming back. And I’m so unfriendly glad I did. The spiritual, science, psychology and storytelling blend has helped open so many gateways of the heart for me. I’m not sure how I would have gotten through this year without this podcast.

7. Hope via Love in action - November , podcast, love in action, love and awareness, transcending political disharmony. Thank you Tara, for talking about Edith Eger,, Victor Frankel, Martin Luther King, Margaret Mead, Ticht Nhat Hanh, and others. This is the message that the world needs to hear, that we can have hope and love and bring the world to a higher awareness, transcending petty political perceived differences. This resonates with the reason that when I am awakened around : AM nearly every morning, I send out peace love and healing to our world and the universe. We need more positivity and unity. Less polarization. As a student of stoicism, Buddhism, I am optimistic that this world can and will be better.Thank you again Tara . Momento Mori, Amor fati

8. Straight from the soul. Head and shoulders above and beyond the other meditation podcasts. - No clever or New Age musical signature, or commercial ‘color’ voice of introduction, or psycho speak, or pop ego imposing its imprint. Only a beautiful real voice inviting connection from soul to soul. Brava.

9. Thank You! - Tara’s work has helped me immensely. This is not only the most soothing podcast in existence, it actually gives you simple tools to use every day in one’s pursuit of mindfulness and mental health. Tara also breaks down heady concepts in a funny and accessible way. I had lapsed in my own Buddhist practice and she got me engaged again! Cannot say enough good things about this podcast!

10. Essential to my sanity and engagement - I relisten to "Cultivating a Courageous Heart" and other episodes every couple of weeks as I work to strengthen my back in order to have a soft front/heart for the essential work we must be able to engage in for the years to come if humanity is to pull through these violent times. Have your journal at the reality and plan to replay segments to record salient wisdom.

This podcast series is aimed at helping us to transcend our fear and anger so that we can be more engaged in the world in a way that develops love and compassion. Thich Nhat Hanh’s calligraphy ‘The Way Out Is In” highlights that the way out of any difficulty is to look deeply within, gain insights and then put them into practice. "The Way Out is In" is co-hosted by Brother Phap Huu, Thich Nhat Hanh's personal attendant for 17 years and the abbot of Plum Village's Upper Hamlet, and Jo Co...

1. Wisdom and Insight Extraordinary - The wisdom and insight in these podcasts are extraordinary. I’m learning so much more from these podcasts than from Dharma Talks, because the practical application of Thay’s teaching is discussed. I’m able to apply more to my life because of these podcasts. Thank you so much for this gift.

2. wonderful and makes the world right again - This shows has helped me through so many of my life’s challenges, been listening for a year or more, from the small things that might happen at work to re-framing my goals and priorities. Never thought a podcast would affect my life so thoroughly… it says a lot about the teachings and philosophy of plum village. Thank you for continuing to put out this podcast, very grateful for it

3. Nourishment for the heart, mind and soul - Thank you for these conversations, so full of vulnerability, joy, wisdom, compassion, and love. I listen and re-listen often and feel so grateful to inter-be with Brother Phap Huu and Journalist Jo Confino. I hope they realize how skillful they are at keeping Thich Nhat Hanh alive in the world and how masterful they are at growing his compassion through their own unique voices of loving kindness. They feel like friends to me now, and I love them.

4. I learn something every episode - This podcast is meditative in itself. The conversations are rich and unhurried, and I’ll admit the first time I listened, I found the slow pace a little frustrating until I recalled…that’s the point of listening to a podcast about mindfulness from the Buddhist tradition. (S l o w down monkey brain.) Brother Phap Hu’s laugh contains such joy - listening to the sound puts me right in the present. Thank you to all who work to share this wisdom with those of us who are far away.

5. So much love for this podcast! - I adore this podcast and it has become a core touchstone in my practice each week. I love the relationship brother Phap Huu and Jo have, the depth of their practice, and the accessible way they are able to share about the dharma together. To listen to a dharma talk feels challenging to me sometimes, as a working parent the only time I really have to listen to something is while I’m doing something else. Somehow listening to their conversations feels more accessible to me and easier to follow along with their conversation. With each episode, I feel like I am leaving with a gem that opens up new pathways in my practice. Deep bows to you, brothers, and so much gratitude for your efforts and generosity in this beautiful offering!

6. Deep understanding - These podcasts are a unique gift to those of us seeking wholeness and guidance. The conversations are like sitting down to tea with friends holding deep knowledge. I gain access to understanding how the practice of Buddhism transforms suffering. Also how suffering is necessary and a gift itself. Grateful for these beautiful teachings.

7. User friendly way to lessen suffering and improve quality of life for you and all your relationships - Thay is my chosen teacher because he makes the mindfulness throughout daily living practice easy to understand and accessible. He explains how to apply the practice to your daily life. Apply the learnings to yourself and your interactions with all humans and animals plants and Mother Earth. It has been transformative for my entire family. We just completed a family holiday retreat with my husband, me, and our kids ( months, yo, yo).

9. Leaf - I recently saw ‘the lion king’ in Detroit. I understand the circle of life completely. I listened recently to your podcast when the monk described ‘the last brown leaf on the tree’ as autumn was ending. He asked the leaf if it was afraid to fall? The leaf said ‘no because he knew he would be part of the tree again’. That message was so moving and deep.. Our spirits live Thanks for that! Patricia

10. Wonderful! - What a wonderful podcast that carries on the transmission of Thich Nhat Hahn’s teachings. I find myself having insights through the teachings and conversations. I LOVE THIS PODCAST!!! It’s the only podcast I listen to on a regular basis. Thank you Br Phap Huu, thank you Joe, your openness, thoughtfulness, and care can be be felt with each episode. Thank you to the team behind the scenes also and all the causes and conditions that have come together to allow for this podcast to manifest.

11. I LOVE this podcast!!! - I check my library regularly in great anticipation to see when a new episode has dropped. It is the perfect companion for long walks and times of contemplation. If you want to learn about Buddhism applied in real life and meet two amazing humans who put its principles into action: one as a monastic, and the other, as a householder, this is the podcast for you! I’ve laughed. I’ve cried. I’ve learned so much. It truly feels my heart with every episode. I would give up all my other podcasts before giving up this one. Thank you thank you it has profoundly enriched my life!!

12. Heartwarming and Useful - This podcast features the abbot of Plum Village, a Buddhist monastery, and a lay person who has been in communications - including the Guardian newspaper. They are fabulous in talking about life in the monastery in a way that I consistently find helpful in my own life. If you’re into wellness, mindfulness, or spirituality, I’m sure you’ll make this one of your go to podcasts. Enjoy!

13. Illumined teachings - The words and energy of the zen master live on in these episodes. I am grateful for the connection to Plum Village and I feel the oneness of all who put these words into a life of sacred action to heal the world. Endless thanks to everyone who makes this global sharing possible. I found this podcast after the death of the master teacher and I feel more deeply connected to his loving wisdom every day.

14. A Calming Reminder to Return to our Breath - Although it’s been many years since I’ve considered myself to be spiritual, I find that the tradition of Plum Village as expressed in this podcast series is calming, contemplative, and helpful. It’s inviting both for those with a lifetime of spiritual adherence as well as those who come from a more secular, cynical background. Both of the primary hosts, Jo Confino and Br. Phap Huu, have a gentle, calming demeanor that’s at once disarming, inviting the listener to return to their breathing and live in the moment while enjoying a cup of tea. This is the reminder that a society built upon growth economics and chaos needs to ask itself, “But does it make you happy?”
2022-10-06
15. Love the messages and the hosts! - Br Phap Huu and Jo have such great, easy chemistry and they are both such kind, gentle spirits who make it easy to come back again and again to hear their dharma talks. As a member of the sangha who is not well acquainted with the precepts, but grew up in a Vietnamese Buddhist tradition, I find the podcast a refreshing mix of being a refresher for what I learned when I was young and an injection of new and relevant topics for the present day. They do a lovely job of continuing Thich Nhat Hanh’s life’s work. Also love the minute meditations at the end!!!! Bravo gentleman!

1. Life changing - Noah Rasheta offers this gift of his years of study and learning in a simple and clear podcast. My anxiety has been profound in the wake of a faith crisis. Therapy has been only marginally helpful and very expensive. Nothing has given me so much hope of finding peace again as these simple healing concepts. Here we have reality rather than “truth” and observation rather than “belief.” You will find no doctrine or controversy here. Just a path to a much needed awakening.

2. Life changing - Noah is able to share Buddhist ideas and principles that are extremely non-threatening and helpful. I’ve been able to share many of his episodes with people of faith and they have been well received. Noah has a very even temperament and attitude. Each principle taught is another layer opened inside my own consciousness. Thank you Noah.

3. Thank you - I am a year old recent law school grad who has struggled to integrate my new studies into my personal ethics and desire to make the world a little better by me having been here. This has helped me in so many ways. Separating the information from the religious labels and context makes it more universal for me . I come here to see the bigger picture when my studies invite me to get sucked into the world of very defined laws. It has helped me integrate these views into my life and not lose myself. And to realize that I can have both and be more effective integrating both. Thanks for being you .

4. Transformative! - This podcast has helped shape me and change me (for the better) in ways I never thought possible. I am such a better husband, father and human being because of this show. I can’t thank you enough for the work you do in putting this together! I have bought your book, read it, and highly recommend it to all that enjoy this podcast!

5. Thank you - I have been listening to your podcast for the last few years and am finally taking the time to leave a very belated review. Life is challenging and confusing but you help to make it less so. I just wanted to say thanks for making me a better whatever I already am. For those unfamiliar with the podcast and with Buddhism, Noah has a very gentle and unassuming approach to learning which really resonates. If you are a skeptic or a cynic by nature with regard to first principles (as I am) listen freely to the show and see how often you find yourself tilting at windmills. In other words, Noah is a disarming teacher who will help you see things just a little bit more clearly for the way things really are.

6. A better life - Your podcast makes Buddhism come alive. It has been a useful tool for me. First, I practiced it after listening to the way it is defined in episodes -. But I made many mistakes based on my preconceived notions. As time moves forward, the principles start to work in the ways that are helpful. Thank you for making my life much better!

7. I keep coming back - I’ve been listening to this podcast on and off for about a year and a half now. I always start from the beginning and it’s amazing to see how much I’ve grown to understand the lessons only to find a new, deeper meaning this time around. Noah Rasheta has the beautiful ability to articulate the teachings in a simplistic while profound way. I’ve never actually made it past episode — every time I start listening again, I realize there’s so much more to understand in just those first episodes alone. Truly life changing in the most fundamental ways. Thank you, Noah.

8. Thank you Noah - Hi Noah, I just wanted to say I love your podcast and that the way you interpreted the phone number truths made it easy for me to understand them. You also talk about other subjects such as mindfulness and the eightfold path that was also clear for me to understand. Through my trekking of different Buddhist podcasts they can get a bit confusing of their explanation on Buddhism. I appreciate your candor, keep up the great work, be well.

9. Fellow human From Utah - I started listening to Noah when he was about episodes in and listened consistently until around episode . His work was the best intro to Buddhism I have come across! I tried listening to Steve the theologian guy and it was way too technical for me. I am just an Engineer, I am not intelligent enough to understand theological debate. As a fellow former Mormon, Noah’s struggle hit home to me and I knew how excruciating his suffering was. When I was in college I naively thought Buddhism was about the reduction of suffering. Now after countless hours of meditation and breathe work I know Buddhism is about pure love. I am eternally grateful to have Noah as a digital teacher. Thank you Noah! Namaste, brother.

10. BRAVO! - These podcasts changed my life… I cannot thank you enough… I was at a point in my life where I was lost and going through a difficult time. I left all the things once I believed in behind. That’s what I needed. A new perspective and lifestyle so that I can continue “to be.” Buddhism and minimalistic life style saved me from misery and I was again able to breathe and let it all be … Thank you very much Noah… you made a difference in my life, helped me see things differently, and I was able to breathe with the assistance of your teachings. As soon as I can I will become a member and hopefully be involved in the Secular Buddhism community more.

11. Great content, but storytelling is distracting - The content is great, but storytelling is sometimes very long and has a bit unnecessary ranting. For instance, in his ‘first and last’ episode, the host has gone on and on about a guy called Dustin, which can make one wanting to quit listening especially if you’re listening in the morning / for some peace. If examples could be pithy and narrative could be more to the point, it would be great.
2022-01-05
12. Real, authentic, approachable, compassionate - Noah Rasheta is a natural-born teacher who brings that skill to his honest interest in secular Buddhism. He is enthusiastic about what he is teaching, learning, and living, while at the same time being tolerant of other approaches to spiritual seeking. One gets the idea over and over again that his reason for creating this podcast is that he wants to share something he loves deeply with others, and in so doing make the world a better place.

13. Dare I say life changing? - This podcast has been extremely important for my mental health and has become one of my central grounding techniques. Listening and absorbing these easily digestible Buddhist teachings by the lovely Noah have given me new perspective and strategy for difficult emotions and thoughts. Of course none of these teachings are a destination they are a practice. And I enjoy listening and re-listening to help me in this practice. Thank you Noah!

14. Best podcast I’ve ever listened to - This podcast is amazing , Noah is soo amazing and soothing and full of good energy . I’ve been hooked since the first episode and have been listening for some months now. This podcast will really put things in a different perspective and really make you think about things in a completely different way. This podcast has helped me tremendously in my own life .
Thank you so much Noah! . Please keep doing what you’re doing and sharing your amazing and thoughtful insights.

15. Thought-provoking and Heartfelt - This is my absolute favorite podcast. Every episode gives me something to think about and implement into my life in some way, and I always look forward to listening to new episodes. Being a nursing student, life can get hectic and stressful at times and this podcast is another anchor for me. Even if you don’t consider yourself a Buddhist, these episodes have something for everyone.

1. I’m glad I found you. - I feel that you offer concrete tools for people in trouble and it would be lovely if you interviewed people who work with addiction problems, for example. They say most homeless people are addicts. Many more are housed, functioning, still suffering. I am amazed at how the counseling folks beat around the bush about exactly the therapies they offer patients. It’s tiring to continue listening to people say the obvious and offer no solutions. For the most part this is all I hear. They recount their own stories and somehow miraculously stop being addicted. I don’t buy it. I do believe your practices can and should be offered to the addiction world. Not just the people addicted though. People are also just simply depressed. JMO.

2. Sharon’s book “Faith” and healing from my stroke - I was given “Faith” a few years ago and I enjoyed Sharon’s warm, honest descriptions of her journey. Then I had a stroke. Over the past four years I’ve relied on this book to help me regain my footing. I listen to Sharon’s guided meditations to help me focus as I meditate - we know it helps to heal your brain! And now I’ve found this podcast! Sharon, my teacher, I cannot express my deepest, most heartfelt gratitude for you. You are a cherished and vital part of my healing. I hope you know how you have helped me recover my life. So much love for you!

3. This podcast is ENLIGHTENING - I am grateful to Sharon & friends for putting out this excellent podcast. It’s truly assisting my fledgling practice. I had a long term practice years ago and I drifted away. Now I am back as a beginner again and podcasts like these along with the numerous videos on youtube red are keeping my from going berserk during what seems like a super bizarre national nervous breakdown. Thanks to all you bodhisattva practitioners who have worked diligently to bring this wonderful information to light.

4. Inspiring! - Sharon Salzburg I'm sure doesn't know that she's acted as my personal meditation coach the whole first year I meditated. Her guided meditations continue to be the corner stone of my practice. These interviews are a great way to reinforce all the mindfulness work I've done. Thank you, Sharon!

5. wonderful - I search for Sharon on podcast interviews because when I run, I love to listen to her wise words. Things happen all day long and it has gotten to a point where I will hear my heart repeating some phrase such as "begin again", or "I did a stupid thing, but Im not stupid, begin again". Learning from this podcast helps in everyday life. Thank you for this opportunity to cultivate compassion , kindness and mindfulness in a pragmatic way.

1. Better Help Not Good - I agree that Better Help should Not be a sponsor. With years practicing Zen meditation and reading great spiritual thought leaders I was sent a very underwhelming list recommendations of therapists who did not have a like minded background similar to myself or the brilliance of Jack Kornfield.
2022-08-05
2. Thank you - I’ve always listened to and loved the teachings of Jack Kornfield; his thoughtful, elegant, soulful dharma talks have kept me tuned in for years. But I had wandered away from my mindfulness practice in the weirdness of this pandemic. This podcast has really tuned me back in to being able to observe, and to feel compassion for myself, and for others. As I listened to one of the talks, I found myself sitting with tears rolling down my face, realizing how strong I was requiring myself to be while battling loneliness, grief, fear, and my mind’s constructions of various futures, all rather unpleasant. Thank you, Jack, for helping us keep our hearts open and our minds still. It’s a great gift.

3. Elegant, erudite, but with a light touch... - These teachings will encourage anyone interested in living a more human, insightful, and compassionate life. It’s not necessary to be a Buddhist to allow the presentations to shape one’s spiritual practice . I often listen at night, and find it relaxing. Thank you, Jack and Spirit Rock!
2020-01-27
4. Leave the politics out - I love Jack so much; since I have been a dedicated listener and reader of his works. He transformed my world. I fear, however, that he is alienating certain people by veering too much into politics with every talk. Whether or not he is right in his judgment isn’t the point; we’re all trying to come together to hear a message that transcends party lines, the US presidency, and the identity politics of present day narratives. Please consider.
2019-09-04
5. Episode turn off - I read Jack’s book, A Path with Heart and enjoyed it, so I turned to his podcast for more. The second episode is a complete turn off from anything else he has to offer. I tried for weeks to let the commentary be what it was, and not let it disturb me. But phrases like “I like to F women” were casually tossed into a deeply meaningful conversation about death and seeking the Christ mind, with no rebuttal from Jack. It felt like verbal assault. Being raised in Christian America- I’m supposed to let “boys be boys” - and that is one of the reasons I turned to meditation and mindfulness, seeking beyond the confines of dominant religions like Christianity that keep women down. I find it difficult to listen to him speak on any topic of enlightenment after he dropped the ball in what felt like listening to a group of bros talking about their penises in such a Western-dominate way. Sex is taught to be something to honor and enter into mindfully, not just in conservative religions but in Buddhism as well. Sex is also something that can be over-consumed and drain our vital life energy if our mental formations about it are not healthy. As he spoke it became clear that this comedian Jack spoke with thinks that with Eastern philosophy, freeing yourself from feeling guilty or bad about sex you can say/feel whatever you want because it’s a all natural/manly experience. There’s a lot more he has to learn, and yet a teacher like Jack didn’t offer him or the other listeners the opportunity.

6. Like a re-calibration - I love this podcast! I have had Jack’s recording of the loving kindness meditation in my rotation for years, and this is like the next step for me. Anytime I listen to this podcast, I feel like I am returning to center, to what is important, and away from the things that I so often give too much weight in my life. !

7. In eternal gratitude - If Ram Das were no longer still with his corporal state in this plane of consciousness, I would testify to Jack Kornfield as being a Rimpoche of his soul. Dear Jack, you & your dear wife, Trudy (of equal & just merit) are among the crucial, central fonts of genuine spiritual wisdom; loving awareness & messengers of the One true Consciousness to we, the thwarted, skewed, lost & hungry souls “caught” in this Western materialists realm of our misguided existence. The entire “collective” of all your fellow seekers & spiritual teachers of your generation, we owe our eternal gratitude to. Thank you Lord of all creation for bringing this genuine, loving wisdom to us through these true Bhodisattvas.

8. Uplifting and deeply insightful - These podcasts are such a sweet gift. I love listening to them on car rides as a way to make use of my time. Mr. Kornfield weaves together different spiritual traditions and insight into daily life to create talks that inspire and uplift me to become a more enlightened human.

1. Only connect - Finding and listening to Joseph’s meditations on an app led me to seek out more of his knowledge. His voice is perfectly pitched for listening and his thoughts are clearly articulated. Lastly he has a great sense of humor that is genuine. I just love him and look forward to reading his books.

2. This is the one - If you want a warm soothing bath for your ears, it’s this dude. He gets at the intellectual side of meditation benefits better than anyone I’ve listened to and he’s possibly the least judgmental, most supportive person I’ve ever heard speak. His words make you think, “hey, maybe I CAN do this,” and by this I mean meditate, change my life, climb Everest etc. whatever your goal is, Joseph is the copilot you’ve been looking for. I also pay for the % happier app, mainly because of him and Jeff warren, who I also highly recommend. I am a middle aged white guy who had a health scare last year so I know I’m the cliched demographic, but I’ve stuck with meditation longer that I ever thought I would and it’s lead to improvements in diet, exercise, sobriety, and personal relationships. Joseph is honestly responsible for most of it.

3. American Bodhisattva - This man in my hero. He’s helped me so much it’s incredible for me to reflect on. He’s my teacher. He’s a gift to my life. As I struggle with an awful illness, his dharma talks provide a practice that enriches existence while revealing its underbelly. Thank you Joseph! ... If in Columbus, OH know you’ve a warm place to stay!

4. Amazing Resource - I am a long time follower of Joseph. He is an amazing teacher. His three volume set: Abiding in Mindfulness was a truly indispensable, transformational resource for me. Joseph's repuation is probably well known to most western meditators, but this is my small thanks to him for all that he has done to help us in the west become less reactive, more ethical, and more deeply spiritual even as we become more secular as a society.

5. The real deal - Joseph Goldstein is one of the most respected and longest practicing teachers of meditation in the west. His deep, insightful and humorous talks are rich with detail and worth several listens each. A humble master, a down to earth guy. One of my favorite podcasts. Also check out Sharon Salzberg.
2018-01-27
6. Remarkable! - I am beyond grateful for this wisdom from Joseph Goldstein. He is, from my experience, the most knowledgable, wise, and mindful teacher of the Dharma I have ever heard. I feel blessed to have access to such wisdom. And I am eternally grateful to Joseph for making this podcast available here. Thank you

1. Content is good. Hosts are not. - The hosts are, for the most part, awful. Same guests with more skillful hosts would be appreciated. I end up seeking out the guests on other podcasts with hosts who are actually in conversation rather than the strange style of most of these hosts/interviewers which feels like they have no knowledge of the person before them and are so not in the present moment. The format is rigid and it’s frustrating because the topics/guests are excellent. But it’s like the hosts know nothing of Buddhism, what it means to be in conversation, or showing up in the present moment.

2. Needed Check Ups - I love this podcast because it’s easier than I’d like to fall back into old habits, mindsets, behavior...Many of these episodes act as a checkup or diagnostic, calling attention to the steps on my mindfulness journey I might have rushed past or waved off because it was uncomfortable.
2020-11-15
3. Making Buddha’s teaching easy to understand and practice - I wish I had found this podcast earlier. I grew up in a Mahayana family but after college I stopped practicing. Up until recently through meditation it’s starting to come back to me and the podcast and the lion,s roar website and articles make dharma easy to understand and very application to our modernized western lifestyle.
2020-09-17
4. Grateful to see this new resource! - I buy Lions Roar magazine and receive the email newsletter as my primary learning source for the Dharma in my rural location. This first episode offered short interviews with teachers who related very direct and applicable lessons. Hearing the teachers own voice offered additional insight. I have already been able to share the publications with other learners, and this podcast is even more accessible to beginners and more experienced alike.

1. Love his teachings! - A longtime student of the teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh, I feel they are so relevant and important. HOWEVER, between this podcast and YouTube, I have yet to find an audio compilation that is easy to listen too. Please, let’s find a way to fix the audio so that his words can be heard easily!
2019-05-22
2. The awesomest! - I say without exaggeration or hyperbole that this podcast is responsible for saving my life. The profound teachings and insights shared here are worth more than all of the world in gold. Thank you for making these dharma talks available to the public at large. Long live The Sangha and The Three Jewels.

1. Beautiful and inspiring - I have been obsessed with Zen Buddhism for around years. Introduced by Alan Watts, so oriented toward the stripped down “see into your true nature” approach. I am operating on the assumption that the essence of meditation is present within all aspects of our experience. So the philosophical and behavioral details offered here are not important to me, but the enlightened intent of the podcast and the information and practices to help people become happier are possibly highly beneficial to many people. I listen while at the gym to help focus my attention on “the penetrating vision” and the obvious love and compassion expressed during the podcast is calming and encouraging.

2. All there is - I love everything there is to love about these teachings. Speech cuts through silence and leads straight into the heartstrings. There is not much to recommend outside of who speaks in the intro. You’re with ____ would be a neat introduction as many know the podcast but few look at the creator prior to hearing
2022-03-19
3. Clear, Concise and Practical Buddhist Teachings - The hostess of the podcast is just wonderful. She does a terrific job of demystifying any ambiguity in the Buddha’s teachings, in a way that gives the listener actionable “how-it’s.” Her light hearted attitude is so uplifting, and her insightful explanations of the dharma are quite unique. Thank you for producing this!!!
2020-08-16
4. New favorite! - I’ve listened to one episode so far and it’s everything I’ve been looking for! It was the first episode about the hindrances. Most Buddhist podcasts take one tiny piece of one story or sutra and then talk about stuff that’s barely connected to that piece. You actually dig “deep” into a topic (by comparison), and that was just the first episode in a series on the topic!
I can’t wait to listen to more! Again, everything I’ve been looking for in a Buddhist podcast. Thank you :)
2019-12-10
5. Finally found it! - I have been looking for a good beginners guide to Zen and Buddhism for quite some time. I have subscribed and unsubscribed after a single episode to quite a few, then I found Domyo Burk! I’m episodes in and hooked. I love the blends of history, darma, and practice. Gives you a little of everything and is well organized and simple to understand. I feel like I’m learning a lot and look forward to each episode and have been incorporating the lessons in my every day life. Thanks!

6. A bit too liberal for me - The Buddha taught us how to transcend suffering, not how to save people from their suffering. When the village woman was mourning the death of her child and sought out the Buddha to resurrect the child, he sent her to collect a handful of mustard seeds before he would bring the child back to life. The only caveat was that she only could accept the mustard seeds from a house where no one had ever died. Of course, she failed and had to learn the hard way that with every birth there is death. This reality of nature seems lost when trying to save the world from suffering. It cannot be done, and is not the Buddha’s way. Instead, through his teachings, we learn to transcend suffering. Liberal democratic ideas of saving the world from suffering may be noble in Domyo’s politics, but it is not Buddhism. Even the Bodhisattva idea of saving all sentient beings is about saving them from the cycle of samsara, not saving them from suffering. Leave the politics aside, and you would have a much better podcast.

1. Lifechanger! - I have listened to this podcast on and off for years and have loved each and every episode. More recently, I’ve been listening daily. Kudos to Gil Fronsdal and the Insight Meditation Center in Redwood City, CA for providing such a meaningful, intentional, and much needed service to the world via these podcasts. I’m eternally grateful!

2. Life changing - I’ve been listening for years and I’ve become a much better person because of it. I have been given the gift of calm, where I used to react so quickly. Gil is my hero (even though I’m sure he doesn’t want to be on a pedestal), I’m forever grateful to him for changing my life in my s. I hopefully have many more years to spread peace, love, and kindness, because of this podcasts influence. Much love, Zen Hen Sanctuary

3. Audio dharma is my friend - Hello - thank you Gil, Niki, Diana and Andrea. I feel as though you and the sangha are my friends. I have learned so much about myself through your teaching. I learned to meditate through gil’s meditation instructions. All of you have explained Buddhism with kindness, compassion and a friendly attitude that has helped me treat myself and others with more care and love. I recommend your podcasts to everyone I know. Love you all!
2021-10-19
4. Simply Grateful - I would like to recognize all the teachers for sharing the teachings. In the beginning the concepts were so foreign to me it was hard understand however over time I am beginning to grasp the concepts of the Buddha teachings. The unwinding of our thoughts, feeling and emotions has brought much wisdom, understanding, and insight which has contributed significantly to my quality of life.

5. desert island audio dharma podcast - If i could only subscribe to one Dharma or meditation related podcast, this would be it. I've been meditating for years in a variety of Buddhist traditions (vipassana, Zen, Dzogchen etc.) but Gil Fronsdal is the one teacher i continually return to again and again. There is something so simple, pure, hearfelt and uncontrived about his teachings and the style in which he delivers them (i say "simple" but they are deceptively profound).... I could gush on and on but let me just add this: I relied on Gil's guidance from this pod to help shepherd me through a day solo meditation retreat. For that alone, i'm forever grateful! Love you Gil!!!
2020-12-15
6. Dharma and Guided Vipassana Meditation - This podcast is invaluable to me. The daily guided meditation helps me to be consistent and maintain my practice. The daily Dharma talks bolsters my reading of Dhammapada and helps with the interpretation and meaning of the suttas. The teachers at IMC great job all round.
2020-06-05
7. You only lose what you cling to. - My favorite podcast hands down. “There is surely nothing other than the single purpose of the present moment. A man's whole life is a succession of moment after moment. There will be nothing else to do, and nothing else to pursue. Live being true to the single purpose of the moment.”
2020-05-31
8. Insightful and supportive - Listening to Gil has been a consistent support and source of encouragement for me over the last years. Whether I’m driving, on a subway, or even going to sleep, his soothing voice and beautifully presented content immediately helps me connect to deeper parts of myself. I highly recommend.
2020-03-12
9. Lifeline. Amazing. Can’t get enough. - Gil has been my guru for over a decade, though I’ve never met him and he doesn’t know I exist. If you want to get your head on straight and keep it that way, listen to Gil and the other wonderful teachers here. Seriously. I’d be lost in a hopeless pit of despair if it weren’t for this podcast. Gil has made such a difference in my life, and his wisdom certainly flows through everything I touch and all my relationships.
2019-08-20
10. So thankful - Thank you Gil for sharing your words of wisdom. I listen to you often and enjoy your delivery. To care and not to care was so timely for me as my youngest leaves for college this week. I know it was not intended for that but it brought me peace as I struggle to come to terms with being an empty nester. Thank you and Namaste.
2019-08-19
11. microphone too close when they speak - I try to listen to these but the noises they make when they are speaking is just too distracting. You can really hear everything from lips smacking, to the tongue rolling around and when they speak it's like they are told to not talk in a normal tone but a soft loud enough whisper to convey what they are talking about. I can't listen to this podcast anymore. Great topics of discussion though!
2018-05-27
12. Awesome online resource for dharma - Gil is one the most relatable and knowledgeable teachers of the Buddha dharma of our time. And he is supported by a solid team and great community. If you can’t be at IMC every week (I live on the other coast) then this podcast is a great option. Highly recommend
2018-02-06
13. Thank you to Gil and those who record and post - My husband and I have been listening to your Podcasts regularly for many years. You have become an important foundation for our lives. Living in a remote rural place, we are especially thankful for these podcasts; Without them, we would never have had the opportunity to hear the message you share.
2017-04-29
14. A Lifeline - I'm truly grateful for Audio Dharma. I started my mindfulness journey over a year and a half ago and have not met anyone to talk to about it or to learn from. There aren't many places around where I live to get information about mindfulness or Buddhism. The audio Dharma podcast has been my 'church' every morning in the car on the way to work. Not only are the speakers incredibly insightful and enlightening, the podcasts help me to feel like I have companions on my mindfulness journey. I highly recommend it.
2017-03-22
15. Great content for those new to the pactice - Gil is great; I had never heard of him before finding this podcast and now I really enjoy his talks. Everything is very accessible for newcomers and Gil explains things in a way that is easy to understand. If you are new: look for talks from the beginning of the year as he uses that as a refresher to come back and review the basics.
2017-01-18
16. Enjoying the work you guys do - As a newcomer to Buddhism, I've very much enjoyed this podcast. I love how descriptive the titles are, as in not "Dharma talk " but "Not Self," etc. I feel like that is helpful to me because I'm able to target my approach to Buddhism and best supplement my reading. I really like how Andrea uses practical examples, I feel that as a scientist and medical student I enjoy her practicality (after listening to every podcast she's made on this app). Sometimes Gil goes over my head, but I can understand what he is saying after I think about it for a while. However, his guided meditations are on point. Anyway, that's all I have to say as a person who has been listening for over a year!

1. Great podcast - Living in Central Ohio, you can imagine that Buddhism is not too prominent around me. This was a great dabble into Buddhism.. After listening, I feel more connected with myself and the nature each day I list to the podcast. I typically listen while I walk my dogs. I will say, I’d love an episode to learn more about Buddhism in plum village, like, the basics of Buddhism. I don’t know much about it. I’d love to learn more so I can have a stronger understanding of this podcast.

1. Zenki Dillon Roshi - Excellent talks! I just listened to the first of the study series and it really resonated as do all of his talks. Thank you very much for putting these in the podcast since I have not been able to attend many this summer because of my schedule. I look forward to listening to more!
2021-08-22
2. Tremendously helpful. - The topics that Zenki Roshi addresses are simple but profound & belong to “real life”. I have found his insights to be “durable” & lasting; observations I return to time and again. Phrased a different way, his insights are “nothing special”, yet, I try to bring as many as possible into my day to day life.
2021-07-28
3. The Gift of Dharma - What a gift to have such easy and convenient access to transformative dharma teachings! There is nothing aloof or distant about these teachings; they are made personal and relatable by how Zenki Roshi delivers teachings within the context of his own experience as a decades-long practitioner of Zen. I also very much appreciate his precise and concise use of language to point listeners to deeply explore the richness of their own bodily experiences. Explorations that ultimately allow us to lead and master our own dharma practice.
2020-08-30
4. Profound, insightful, relevant and grounded - Zen Mind is hands down the best collection of Buddhist teachings I’ve heard streamed online or in person. Zenki Roshi has a unique aptitude for weaving traditional Zen teachings into contemporary personal and cultural challenges. Whether you are a monastic or a layperson, these teachings will resonate as they penetrate the heart of the Buddha’s path. Zenki Roshi tactfully uses the exploration of language and anecdotes to eloquently articulate Zen approaches to transformation, realization, wisdom and compassion. What’s more, these teachings are appropriate for the newcomer to Zen practice and the decades-long veteran, alike. Sit down, press play, and welcome transformational minutes into your life! - Charles Wolf Drimal, Bozeman, Montana, USA

5. Excellent Dharma teaching - I lived at the Crestone Mountain Zen Center from -, and it’s truly a gem in terms of authentic monastic Zen practice. Zenki Roshi is a fantastic teacher, and I highly recommend these talks from a remote mountain in Colorado to anyone interested in a deep engagement with contemporary Zen.

1. Life transforming - I’ve been listening to Gils podcast for a decade now since my mid s and it has transformed my life by bringing
- peace when I didn’t see a way forward in my life and simply felt stuck
- awareness to my thoughts and feelings and not allowing them to boss me around
- discipline in my practice but also in life Cannot recommend it enough. Initially, I was skeptical and criticized & questioned many of the episodes, and after roughly - months of practice, when I got rid of my cynicism - I began to learn, be present, and transform my life. Still am transforming it today. Thank you for bringing peace to my life and for teaching me how to allow it to come into my life. “When you’re at peace, you bring peace to the world”

2. Amazing and - Wow so much value in your offerings. Teachings combined with SO many meditations. My only request is that you set a main picture— I’d hate for people to not listen and without a picture they might not think it’s up to date. That’s where my anxiety goes :) I want everyone to give it a try to see if it resonates with where they are on their path! Thankyou so much for your study and talks Gil !!!

3. This is my favorite podcast - Discovering audiodharma has sent me on a transformative path and has provided me with such wisdom and has helped me through my suffering during my early twenties. Gil is such an inspiration to me and is honestly my all time hero. I would not be where I am without this knowledge. I love his ordinariness and humility in his stories that related to the lectures, he is very relatable. I really enjoy listening to Buddhist philosophy through his interpretations of life experiences. For example, as a little practice to integrate into daily living, he talks about setting an intention to be present for people you encounter at the grocery store—instead of rushing and being impatient while waiting in line, instead acknowledge the people around you and use it at as a time for practice. One day I hope to attend a lecture in person.

4. excellant teacher - Gil is an insightful, humerous, and a gifted teacher. Living rurally, I'm so thankful for his teachings because there are no buddhist centers around. I struggle with mental health issues and his podcasts help with more useful thinking or letting go of the intrusive thoughts. Thank you Gil.
2017-10-25
5. Top Notch - Humble and down to earth - I've been listening to Gil's talks for several years now, and it feels like he's an older, wiser brother. He has a way of taking the sometimes complicates aspects of the Dharma and explaining them in a way that makes sense to the lay person. Very highly recommended, regardless of your experience with Buddhism.
2013-07-20
6. Precious, accessible teachings! - Gil, through his talks, has helped me through tough times and many difficult moments. I don't know the guy but I am so thankful for his wisdom and ability to speak to me. (His talks are given freely but you can donate if you desire. I have no idea what Bumble is referring to.)
2012-06-13
7. Words, insights, stories that make a big difference - After years, I continue to find several things Gil talk about available for recall in key junctures- to see things more softly, make choices, hold thoughts and feelings a wee bit more deliberately and occasionally even step out of my own stories. These simple, unassuming talks are a gift. Thank you.
2011-09-23
8. Thanks, Gil - I have been downloading Gil's podcasts for about years now. His talks have made such a difference in my life. Living in an area where it is challenging to find Buddhist teachers and resources, these podcasts have been such a great addition to my spiritual journey. Thanks, Gill for making the dharma available, engaging and accessible.
2011-06-17
9. Gil rocks! - I love the fact that he is always on point and frequently funny too. I also love that that he teaches and talks about the practice in a lively, active way. Meaning he does not advocate passivity and meekness but to be engaged, honest, upfront and to speak up. Buddhism is a living practice and he gives clear guidance about what to expect from within the practice.
2011-03-16
10. Great Speaker - Practical Buddhism - Gil is a wonderful speaker. Very down to earth and interesting. Normally you wouldn't refer to Buddhist talks as entertaining, but Gil has a way of keeping you engaged while he speaks that makes you feel "entertained", but in a good way. He exudes the compassion that is at the center of Buddhist practice.

1. Bots, Q Nuts & trump trolls hate this podcast - Calling this podcast inflammatory is hilarious. I love how the bots hate anything that isn’t coming out of their dear leader’s or Hannity’s mouth. Q Supporters give it one star because they’re uncomfortable with the truth. I found this podcast relaxing, insightful and reassuring. It’s meant for people with an open mind, not for those narrow-minded conspiracy theorists and the uneducated.

2. Great for new learners - I have been listening to this podcast for over a month now and I am hooked. Wendy is so authentic and makes for really easy listening. I am new to Buddhism and appreciate the straightforward narrative and less frills. In other times when I had tried to begin my journey I had often felt I wasn’t “Buddhist enough” in other spaces, but Wendy has a way of showing that Buddhism can be for everyone. I feel like I am learning and growing, and for that I am appreciative. Thank you, Wendy!

3. There is wonder and peace in living in the here and now and listening to Wendy. - There really aren’t words to describe how beneficial this podcast series has been for me. I suffer from a serious anxiety disorder and the tools that I’ve been able to put in my emotional tool kit that I’ve learned from Wendy and from her guest speakers has helped me live a much more engaged and peaceful life.
There’s such an emphasis in our society on worrying about what’s happened in the past or what laserhead in an increasingly trouble future. Taking time to listen to this podcast and really focus on the here and then now and being mindful has been such a beautiful eye-opener for me. Wendy’s teaching style is approachable, warm, and resonates in your heart and your mind which is an easy. She is humble, and is not only a lifelong learner but a passionate and dedicated teacher. I’m grateful to call her a friend and a sensei and am deeply grateful for the good work she is doing. Jenn Renyo Munson

4. We all should listen - every day - really helpful - I’ve been listening to this podcast occasionally for the last year or so, but recently decided to start at and listen to the entire series in order.
I just finished episode on right speech and wow! So relevant and helpful to me and my life at this moment. (I will be listening to it at least once more this week!) I appreciate Wendy’s down-to-earth approach and realistic ideas. Thanks for a great series of useful tips!
2022-06-20
5. Wonderful Podcast - Wendy’s podcast discusses real life issues and how they intersect with the spiritual in a practical and compassionate, often humorous and light hearted way. It is very approachable and engaging, appropriate for all levels of practitioners and those from different faiths as well looking to connect at the heart over universal human experience.

6. Great inspiration! - I'm a Christian but have been wanting to apply Buddhism to my life for that little extra perspective and oomph! I tried a few podcasts, but this one was perfect from the get go--it was encouraging, enlightening, easy to understand (as a beginner), and left me wanting to keep listening. Wendy, thank you for not only being unbiased and informative, but revealing Buddhism in a non-judgmental and easy way to understand. Jonathan

7. Let Down - I was so excited when I found this podcast; as I am in a deep learning phase of Buddhism. However I had to stop listening. I do not think politics have a place in study and the little remarks she makes are a distraction from the teaching. Perhaps a distraction I should learn to overcome and just take what is relevant, but a distraction none the less.
2020-05-23
8. Incredibly helpful. - I really have enjoyed this podcast. I began listening when the COVID- virus became present in the US as for my anxiety towards work, health, etc. started to rise. I hadn’t been actively practicing mindfulness and Buddhism as regularly as would have liked. I started looking for podcasts to help guide me to get back on track. I am so glad I came across this one! I love Wendy’s take on Mindfulness. She keeps things simple and easy to follow but still formulates really powerful messages that can be applicable to every day life. I make a point every morning to sit down and take in one episode with my coffee. Great way to start off the day. Thanks for your work Wendy! It has really helped me get through!

9. No words - I can not express how lucky I am to have found your podcast. For a long time I was searching for a show that was real, genuine and open to Buddhism and every day struggles. You are amazing and your words of wisdom are on point. I myself am studying Buddhism and try my best to be at peace and kind. Yes it is hard as I am hard on myself. But your first few episodes made me think that trying my best is enough and I can take it day by day. I have shared your show with those that seek my advice and guidance as I teach others about crystals and the teaching of Buddhism. I mean I'm no master but I share what I've learned and it makes me so happy to see how that's made them happy. I'm definitely buying your book! Love that you're a woman and a Buddhist. I have someone to look up to. I've got my girlfriend well now fiance and our son who's listening to you on a daily. You're simply amazing. Blessings and hugs.

10. Exactly what I needed! - I am beyond appreciative to have found your podcast! I have a hard time retaining information from books the way I can absorb it from someone’s vocal explanation & your podcast feels like having a conversation with someone I can learn so much from. I needed this in my life & with just what I’ve learned from your first two podcasts you’ve already helped bring a calm to the chaos I was feeling earlier today! Thank you!

11. It’s worth trying! - I’m a new Buddhist and was looking for books, writings, podcasts, videos, etc. to help me get started.. and THIS IS IT! This is exactly what i was looking for. Her voice is soothing and calming, and doesn’t make me uncomfortable. She walks you through practices and backs it up with examples and really gets down to the smallest ideas and concepts of Buddhism. It’s definitely worth giving it a shot.

12. LOVE THIS PODCAST!!!! - This Podcast has all five star ratings for a reason. Wendy Haylett’s talents in explaining Buddhism philosophy and relating it to every day life really shines through in this podcast. She is so knowledgeable and easy to listen to and understand. I have been a podcast listener for over four years and have listened to a variety of podcasts from health shows to self-help and I have only written a few reviews. With that said, I absolutely LOVE her podcast so much I was compelled to write a review. I’m looking forward to future episodes. I strongly urge anyone looking to live a more fulfilling life by understanding more about yourself to check out her episodes in order and become a subscriber. I have listened to all episodes so far and I can tell you they are chock full of lessons you can apply to your everyday life. There are not a lot of women Buddhist teachers recording podcasts. Although it doesn’t matter whether you are male or female, you will all learn something from her. From my standpoint, being a female, I truly resonated with a lot that Wendy has to offer. I know Wendy has plans to supplement this podcast through her website so stay tuned!
Thank you Wendy for all you are doing with sharing your gifts with us.

13. Solid guidance, wisely shared - This podcast is great! Wendy Shinyo Haylett is warm, open, and wise. She understands people - and unlike so many teachers today, she admits to being one of us! Wendy is so approachable and she teaches from a place of humility and humor. Leave behind the new-age, magical thinking fluff, pull up a chair, and get comfortable because Wendy offers real guidance for real people facing real everyday challenges.

1. Easy listening but I miss older episodes - This podcast is one I’ve been listening to for several years and I have used it for relaxation to sleep or just calm down from a rough day. I haven’t been as active of a listener in the past months and going thru all the episodes I have noticed older episodes that I really liked have been removed. Would love to have them available again if possible.

2. A regular part of my practice - These episodes are so helpful to me that I often save them and relisten to the same one over and over. Each episode contains a guided meditation. No jabbering about meditation. Just actual meditation practice. These have been very helpful when I can’t stop my mind from spinning in the middle of the night.

1. The dirty work episode - I am loving this podcast so far.
I love the examples of getting free as having clear intention, reading researching, holistic healing through certain plant medicine, going on retreats. As a person who was searching on how to liberate my self before. When I first got on the path it was extremely hard to grasp because a lot of terminology was always used but no step by step method and how to shift our paradigm of thinking between the spaces of thought and action. We have to do the work but what does the work look like for someone starting. Would love more examples of what that work looked like for you all and others you know. As in thought, action, responding and gauging without overloading or discouraging one’s self. Such as discipline levels, knowing when you are on the right path or a path at Al and what takes place there and to get there. What does it feel like sound like look like? A lot of time we get taught what to think about in attempts to get free but a lot of us need to know “how to think”. Love the work love the guidance but I know for those who are not there yet it’s hard just hearing the what to do and not receiving the steps to do the self work the alone work the getting rid of the fear.

1. Grounded Love - Loch’s, effortless mindfulness pointers have changed my life, and I am so grateful. I feel that these are tools that make meditation (and non-meditation) truly accessible to anyone at any level. The approach of small glimpses, many times, is a very understated method that empowers me to heal: to open to all dimensions of myself and others, and to respond from a new perspective. I am thrilled that he is offering these in a broader way on this podcast.

2. Approachable Yet Profound - Loch has an incredible capacity to point you to your true nature with just a few simple pointers, allowing you to access some of your deepest meditation experiences in just minutes. He is a remarkably talented architect of mind, a true Dzogchen master for Westerners. He cuts deftly through the illusion of an isolated self, opening us to the vast boundless loving awareness that is ever-present, while simultaneously holding with care and compassion our smaller sense of ‘self.’ Loch has a deep, immediate, and intimate understanding of non-duality. His teachings are exactly what this world needs right now. I am very grateful to be a beneficiary of his wisdom. And I am grateful his wisdom is now so easily accessible through this podcast. Thank you Loch Kelly for being you, such a loving, playful, and awe-inspiring creature!

3. Loch is the real deal! - I love Loch and am so happy he has brought out a podcast. His teachings are wonderful, unique and above all practical. His podcast is a great continuation of his teachings and perfect for people too who have never been exposed to methods for waking up and wish to delve into this area. Great wherever you are in your practice and can be applied immediately. Thanks Loch

4. Directions home…this way - I found Loch in , did these awesome sessions with him and groups through Being and Doing and continue with these glimpse practices today. I can attest that they work and also that it requires work, daily. These practices and new ways of thinking of who or what we are, and are not, can start you on a new path that includes relief and hope. Even longtime meditators will discover a territory beyond the witness. There is a larger (free from body/small mind suffering) essential you that truly is loaded with all the good stuff just awaiting your recognition of it. If you are trapped in the constant flow of ‘little me’s’ this may sound too good to be true. Just wait until you pop out of your small suffering self then see how crazy good it can get. Or how quickly you feel relief. It’s real and waiting for you to discover it and eventually abide and live from it. Take this seriously. Loch is giving you a reliable map home to a larger, happier more fluid you. My suggestion is you approach this like a new hobby or skill you hope to develop and you will likely see progress. Think of learning to paint, dance or play music and all the practice that goes into it. I used to play sports and this feels a lot like learning layups or free throws in basketball that you practice ’s of times. There are great days and days when you feel like you’ve never shot a basketball. But you recall that great shot and it motivates you to keep practicing until you shoot spot on without thought or effort. One day it feels like you just float down the court in a flow with your teammates and both effortlessly and joyfully play and enjoy the game. It’s because you trained for ’s of hours and built new neural pathways that become dominant over time. These glimpses allow you to experience freedom from your small self quickly. It’s stabilizing it that takes repetition. I’m still practicing and still have rough patches for sure, but the glimpse practices begin to happen more spontaneously and often. I’ve been practicing about /- years now and have made progress. I’ve also practiced with a small group throughout that time which is helpful. My strongest recommendation for those taking this seriously is group practice coupled with many personal glimpses daily. I recommend you listen to lochs glimpses to start-he has a cd with them, and attend his very affordable online or in person retreats to get the benefit of his and the groups energy that can help you to unhook from the little me and it’s problems. This way you get to experience and recognize what he is pointing us towards so when you practice on your own you’ll have a sense of what it feels like. This is important because it’s not mental, it’s a new felt experience and it’s helpful to have it confirmed by others. I’ll confess to waking up in intense stress and just playing a glimpse on my phone helps me unhook and get my bearings when I’m in over my head. You will likely go through many highs and lows, don’t be afraid to use this to ‘get outta dodge!’ Then practice… Also, he offers soooo many different ways to unhook. I’m an ‘outty’, unhook and go out then return practitioner but have recently found the drop to heart mind right off working. You can switch it up and let go of those that don’t work. You will find your doorway(s). Personally, I cannot thank Loch enough for going to the effort of westernizing these ancient teachings and bringing all of this to the public. No small task indeed. I’ve benefitted and believe, if you apply yourself, you will too. Wishing well being and happiness my fellow travelers!

5. Lucky you! - Ok. I’ll admit it’s a bit early to be giving this podcast a star, perfect review (although the trailer is tip top!). The reason I can already foretell that it is so deserving, is that this gentleman and his meditative system are so deserving. I have spent years traveling through India, Sri Lanka and Peru, only to meet Loch in western Massachusetts and be taken to places that took days of silent retreat in a matter of minutes. Just allow yourself the possibility that this statement just might be true and you will allow yourself to be transformed. To tall of an order? I think not. Enjoy! Lucky you!

1. Amazing - I have been a Baddest practitioner for over years now. My Chan roots come with a language barrier. My Abbot and teaching monks have Mandarin as a first language. This sometimes poses the “lost in translation moment” . I wake up and row my rowing machine while listening to the podcast. Then I meditate. The podcast often clarify questions , missing understandings and just muddled concept's. I wish I could somehow download the complete library because each teaching is timeless. Many teachings hits hard and I repeat the lecture over and over hoping somehow it will become part of my makeup. During the pandemic the podcast were my lifeline pulling me back to the path. I find value in these teachings.! They help me grow past understanding. I’m just a old man just trying to humble my delusions. Thank you for the extra effort and effort reaching beyond your walls !!!

2. A lifeline for a beginner - I am new to the practice and have found ZMM as a virtual sangha during this difficult and unusual pandemic era. The talks always seem to touch on something I desperately need to hear. I am amazed at how Geoffrey Shugen Arnold Roshi keeps the discourse relevant to our time. It’s another wonderful reminder that Buddhism’s power is alive and real. We have a great responsibility to spread the dharma with skillful means during such pressing times.

3. Zen mind at its sharpest. - Originally began studying / sitting with Roshi Robert Kennedy, SJ in Jersey City, also in the lineage of Maezumi Roshi. I’ve been sitting on my own for a long time due to the logistics of getting to community and recently stumbled upon this podcast. You have so helped deepen my practice with your penetrating discussions and nuanced awareness and inclusion of social justice issues. What a treasure you offer us all near and far. Thank you! Often walking and sitting with you all, Ed Majian.

1. The Greatest Living Buddhist Teacher in America Today - Roshi Joan is the genuine article. A teacher of such clarity, compassion and authenticity, that it is a wonderous thing to have these generous teachings available by her and her associates at Upaya. I feel she is the greatest living Buddhist teacher/leader alive today, and the programs from Upaya cover a wide range of topics from many distinguished teachers. I very gratefully support Upaya with dana, but ithe programming is freely offered to all. My most treasured talks are those from the Rohatsu Sesshins. All are rich and enlightening.

2. Zen brain series are the best - Each year I look forward to the Zen Brain series of ten or more episodes. These podcasts are engaging and awakening. Roshi Joan brings delightful teachers to share wisdom and I look forward to one day visiting upaya Zen center in person. Until then, this podcast holds me over.

3. I am grateful for this podcast! - When you live far from any teachers, podcast dharma talks are fantastic. To find a clear, wise, funny, refreshing teacher like Joan is wonderful. I have listened to a lot and these are among the best. From major life issues to how to live thru a sesshin, it is all great. The bells and gongs are a nice touch, as are the detailed info notes. I would only suggest they pass a microphone to their audience when they ask questions (like audiodharma does) so we can hear them better.

4. Clarity Personified - Roshi Joan has a way of making so very clear those things that are not easily clarified. Having attended one of her Dharma talks, and then (very excitedly) finding she now has a podcast, I was very gratified to hear the same clarity, the same ability to paint a picture and place you directly into the middle of it, and the courageous ability to tackle the difficult issues unabashedly and unapologetically. Kudos!!

1. Stellar interviews - Daniel Aitken always asks the best questions from his guests. This is my favorite podcast series. I've learned so much in the past couple years from these chats, not only about movers & shakers in the Buddhist world in general, but also learning to apply the Q&As into my own life moment by moment, resulting in more meaningful conversations with people.
2022-03-29
2. Good but sometimes confusing - I love the guests, the topics and questions asked by the host Daniel Aitken. My only criticism is that the conversations will often lurch suddenly into very dense esoteric territory with a lot of Sanskrit and Tibetan terminology. I wish Daniel would slow down and speak as if most of his listening audience were not in a grad school seminar on Indo-Tibetan Buddhism.
2020-11-18
3. Stunningly brilliant - A series of intimate interviews that capture the heart of Buddhism in America. These podcasts are an oral history of the modern American Buddhist movement in the words of the beloved originators themselves. Daniel Aiken is an attentive and knowledgable interviewer and clearly a Buddhist himself. Through his gentle questioning, each interview becomes a deeply satisfying Dharma lesson.

4. Marginally Aware is a troll - This is a great podcast because it is conversational. How often do you get to listen to such luminaries speak with so much candour. Only this style of podcast could let the guests feel relaxed enough to be as open. Clearly Marginally Aware has something against Buddhist podcasts as he/she has also left a troll review on another show that borders on a personal attack. "marginally aware" seems about right!
2016-05-19
5. Needs a different interviewer - The interviewer constantly interrupts his guests as they're answering his frequently ill-informed and pointless questions; he is inexperienced, disruptive, distracting, and annoying. The volume on his mike needs to be turned down (or preferably off) when the guest is speaking because he is constantly muttering, "Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. . . ." Otherwise, the guests are fun to listen to -- or would be if (see above).

1. Down to Earth. Get Real Zen - The real thing. These guys get Buddhism and definitely don't take themselves too seriously. Sooooo refreshing in a landscape full of sincere folks that seem to take themselves too seriously.. They also have a website where anyone can join the conversation. My Roshi died a few years back, and I am finding it very hard to form another attachment. Maybe this group is the next growth step in Buddhism. All the teaching with lots of commom sense.

2. A little laugh and a little Zen - I appreciate this Podcast. Life is so serious and it seems like it gets more so each day..sometimes it’s nice to sit back, have a brief laugh about it all, and then learn some Zen perspective along the way. Each episode has a laughing point and a lesson. These guys make my day better!

1. Excellent Podcast - My partner, Jane, and I have been involved with Buddhism for decades. Nonetheless, we listen to, and learn from, this podcast regularly. The guests are wonderful, and Scott Snibbe's style of interviewing makes their messages accessible to those just discovering this path, as well as informative for those who have been on it for quite a while. Additionally, Scott's own teachings are helpful.

2. Highly recommend! - The perfect podcast for anyone interested/curious in Buddhism, consciousness, happiness, love, the relationship between spirit science, meditation or just general well-being. All the ideas and concepts (even the really big ones!) are presented with much thought and clarity. Great guided meditations, great guest interviews...Haven’t missed an episode and am constantly recommending it to anyone I think could benefit from it...which is, um...EVERYONE.

3. Not Only for Skeptics - The title of this podcast made me expect a thoroughly secularized form of Buddhism. While it is thoroughly in harmony with modern science, it is also grounded in Tibetan Buddhist tradition. I find both the content and delivery of these teachings and guided meditations to be excellent. And the sound engineering gives these podcasts an intimacy and immediateness not usually found. I have listened to recorded guided meditations from many sources, and this is the best so far.

4. Great explanations and very insightful! - So glad my friend Arian introduced me to this podcast! I’m not much of a sceptic, but my analytical mind very much appreciates how Snibbe is offering different, well researched points of view on various spiritual topics - while still always approaching them from an intellectual and scientific standpoint. It also helps that he is providing plenty of relatable examples to explain each Buddhist concept. I’ve had lots of great “aha moments” listening!
2020-08-02
5. Rewiring Skeptics? - This is an important podcast. The main thing neuro scientists agree on about the way our brain functions is that our reptilian brain will drive us towards our most destructive behaviors. Meditation is a way to bypass that. For this simple reason, skeptics should listen and get this in their toolbox.
2020-02-02
6. A Skeptic’s Review - I’ll be the first to admit it, I’m a bit allergic to ‘spirituality’. My first yoga class featured chanting and much talk of chakras, and it kind of put me on edge. I’m Buddhist-curious, finding its teachings and particularly the overall values extremely appealing, but always felt a bit hesitant due to my rather skeptical attitude. Scott is, so far, offering a very nice introduction to many directly applicable concepts and values in a great and easy to listen to format. It helps that his voice is absolutely excellent — you’d think he’d have become a podcast pro a long time ago. :) Following this podcast with great interest!
