1. Excellent Version: readable & cross-linked - The text is crisply written, without archaic expressions used in “traditional” English Bibles, and incorporating the oldest sources available (for example, findings from the Dead Sea scrolls.)
It is very well footnoted, to explain obscure or unclear bits in the text, and even to identify where authorities are uncertain about a translated term (typically from rarely used ancient expressions in the Old Testament.). It also presents certain passages in [square brackets] to identify text that varies in the most ancient editions, or which was determined to be a later addition to the original text.
Further, I think non-Catholics don’t need to worry about editorial comments laced with Catholic doctrines. Any such bits are rare, if they are present at all. I once spot-checked this version against my wife’s Protestant version (NSV?) and found the nearly identical. Given this observation, I would recommend this version over that to Everyone, for reasons: () NABRE has much better footnotes & cross-references, and () Catholic Bibles are always a better value since you get more books per dollar! (Protestant Bibles omit those books they deem apocrypha.)

2. A very useful Catholic Bible - I have bought this Catholic Bible and I am actually able to use it on my iPhone and iPad . It's great that the author have made it possible for me to get a Catholic Bible at a low price. I've seen a lot of low reviews in here so I decided to put up this review to even up the things a little bit. I don't think that the low ratings speak justly about this Bible and the author. To the contrary, the author has actually provided a good Catholic version of the Bible for us to buy here on iTunes. I think that the slowness that has been said on the reviews is both true and false to a certain extent. Let me explain why. First off. This Catholic Bible contains both the Old and New Testament. That's a lot of content. To give you an idea, on my iPad in Portrait position there are about pages and on my iPhone in Portrait position that's about pages. You've noticed that when I specified the pages, I put in Portrait position. That's because in iBooks, number of pages change depending on whether you are in portrait or landscape… when you change position, re-pagination and indexing changes. Imagine re-indexing the whole Bible when you change the orientation of your device. I think what the slowness others here are experiencing is due to the book currently being reindex. I experienced the same slowness when I first bought and opened the book. GIVE IT some time to re-index. The thing is it will have to re-index if you go on changing your device orientation. After using it for several days now. Here's the performance I'm getting on both my iPhone and iPad . Turning a page: about second (probably less)
Going to a page from the Table of Contents: less than seconds
Going to a page using the slider at the bottom: less than seconds Going to a page by clicking on a link on the page or a footnote: varies between - seconds. One thing that may also be contributing to a bit of slowness is the fact that all over the book you'll see "Active Links" and "Footnote links" to references to other parts of the book. The good thing is that it's like having a lot of bookmarks built right into it. If it where a physical book, imagine the minutes you have to spend, finding that particular link -- so waiting a few seconds for me is quite alright. Tips for better usage . On loading the book, wait for several minutes for indexing to do its magic so that you can access it faster. Be patient. . Make use of bookmarks and markers for easier access. iBooks have given us a great tool here. We can mark things like an ordinary book and go directly to it. You can use this useful tool to get easy access to Mass verses before going to Church by marking them before the Mass. Things I love about this book: . Lots of active links/footnotes. Some books don't even make them active, so I have to find my way to the item. On this book, it's just a click away. . Price. Easily lower that what's currently being offered on iBooks. . Works both on my iPhone and iPad . Bookmarks and Notes are synced which makes it great! To the author: Thank you. I hope this review gives it justice.

3. Doesn't work - After reading the reviews, I tried the free sample. It worked well so I thought the "freezing" problem had been fixed. I bought the book and now wish I hadn't. It doesn't work at all- freezes every time. It's a shame because it's the closest thing to my print version I could find. Now I'm using the $. American Bible ( which works perfectly). The problem is that it's written more like a King James version. I sure hope this one gets fixed!

4. Catholic New American Bible Revised Edition (usure) - I am afraid to buy this book because of the negative comments. It would be nice to know which iPad these reviewers have that have complaints of it being slow. There are reviewers who have no problems, is it because of their version of iPad? The sample looks and works great!! I can't make up my mind until I see more positive reviews. Hopefully people will note which iPad they have, the original one or iPad. I have iPad.

5. Too slow! - Only reason I gave it any stars is I appreciate the author bringing it to the Apple store. I want my Catholic bible! However please - oh please - fix its bulky, slow interface. It makes it impossible to use. It crashes so I cannot even get back to the library. Fix it, (tabs are a great idea!) and I would be thrilled to give it stars! Thanks for listening!

6. NABRE on iOS . - Great eBook!!! The ebook performance is much improved with iBooks on iOS . . You can easily navigate to any book via the table of contents, search the entire book (need iOS . for this to perform well) and bookmark individual pages. The secret is to give the book a minute to indexed the content as the publisher mentions this is a very large book. You can tell when its done indexing the content by checking the table of contents when each book has a page number it is done. Also the status bar at the bottom of the page (row of dots) also indicates when the content is indexed as the dots change from gray to black. At the beginning of each book is a list of chapters which you can touch the chapter number to go directly to that chapter. I read this eBook everyday on my iPad.

7. NABRE on iPad - This eBook works and looks great on iPAD. My favorite feature is the low price for such a recent edition. You can easily navigate to a particular book via the table of contents. At the beginning of each book is a list of chapters allowing the user to select and go directly to that chapter. You can create bookmarks and change the font size. As noted in the description it does take a few minutes to load, but once completely loaded this eBook performs well for such a large book. Thank you very much for this great eBook. I can now read the official Catholic Bible on my iPad.

8. NABRE on iPod Touch - This iBook works fine on my iPod Touch . rd gen. For such a large ebook it performs very well on the iPod Touch. Easy to navigate to a particular book and to a particular chapter. Footnotes are included plus introductions to each book. I also have this iBook on my iPad. Works great, easy to navigate via table of contents. For such a new edition the price is surprising low but very much appreciated.

1. Falsely advertised - I sampled the book to ensure the books of bible were in links and they could be easily navigated but when I purchased the book the links don’t work, I have to flip through thousands of pages and the words of Jesus are not in red. Im not trying to be harsh with the seller I just want you all to find a better version so this doesn’t happen to you.

1. NIV Bible - I purchased this Bible after some prayer as guidance to what bible I should seek out to read. I’ve been happy with the interpretation of the scripture, but very disappointed with the platform & book application there are and number of problems that I find to be of importance. For a time, I’ve had a suspicion that my notes and highlights within the book have been disappearing here and there. That theory is now evident and I am certain that this is indeed happening. My notes are extremely important to me, if my notes and highlights are just going to disappear, the option in the book for highlights and note-taking are unreliable and therefor the practicality of purchasing this book is evidently a failure on my end. I do my best not to be generally discontent with generally anything, it does not serve to heighten spiritual gain or serve to edify in us in anyway in our walk with Jesus Christ; I have trust He will restore me completely from that which is unjust. In full I do reiterate my dissatisfaction for this specific circumstance, that it may be only an honest review. I did purchased this book and for that reason had expectations that my notes and highlights remain unchanged, this is not the case. Also the book continually being reset back to the beginning is an aggravation. (I do understand this could very well be the apple book platform or somehow my phone) unfortunately from time to time, the book just resets back to unread. This could create dissatisfaction in potential buyers by having your place-mark reset. None the less, it’s not an overall positive experience. Even more, the NIV interpretation is actually completely free in other applications. Making this overall purchase completely impractical and in truth disappointing.

2. I Love this Book!! - Dear Lord in heaven, I thank you for everyone and every thing I have in my life. I thank you for every bite of a food and every drink of water to wash down the meal I’ve been given. Thank you for the beauty that is nature. And in this world I am most grateful for my children and the love we have for each other! Lastly here, I thank you for my life and the opportunity to finally get to know you and truly realize and understand you’re Holy existence! Thank you so much for everything! With Sincere Love, Trust and Respect; in Jesus Name I Pray, Amen.

1. Finally the Full NRSVCE - This is the full bible, not just the New Testament. It's well formatted and easy to read. Each book begins with a list of linked chapters. My only complaint is a lack of subheadings on each page. It's difficult to know where you are. This seems to be a typical eBible problem. Hopefully the publishers will start to catch on and fix this oversight.

1. Perfected in it's imperfections. - God's word is written by human instruments and their belief, which hopefully is altruistic for the most part. Read this bible. I don't think you'll regret it. But as you allow it's words of faith to impact your mind, body, and soul, understand that they were humans who put this text to paper. They may have been good people, but everyone makes a personal mark on what they create, so have insight. Glean from this text it's righteousness, and separate out it's human-borne imperfections. Remember, God only wants you to try your best to be the best you can be, and to love your neighbor, with no strings attached. God bless you all.

1. What happened? Not working - (This may be because of an iBooks upgrade and not yours..)
Before i would give four stars
Before this upgrade(?) my bible app worked very well. Presently it will not load/open / turn pages etc. please correct or revert back to last version. My only suggestion before this was that every chapter dors not carry its title on each page..you have to constantly go back to the chapters listand go through each page. Thank you in advance.

2. first version - At first the sample would not open and would not be deleted. When it did become functional, the entire bible seems to be there! It has content tables. The standard one is of course too lengthy to scroll through. The secondary one is condensed and expedient to use. It has the standard linked notes section and various highlighting options. The search function is slower than using Bible Gateway, but with correct terminology, it does eventually work. If this is as good as it seems, I'll gladly pay for it!

1. The Message - This version has great potential; however, it is not working well on my iPad. The search function is not working at all and after accessing the table of contents once, which if it worked consistently would be great, I was not able to get back to it so that I could switch between the Old and New Testaments and various books/chapters within each without having to scroll through all of the prior books and chapters starting at Genesis. I truly hope they come up with a fix to this bug because $. is way too much to pay for an ebook that doesn't work properly. If it worked as it is supposed to, the enhancements which this version has would be worth it.

1. The One Year Bible - Absolutely the best book ever and so easy to read the Word of God in a year. It’s as easy as turning on your device and remembering what day it is. Each day you read an Old Testament, New Testament, Psalm and Proverb. Daily it takes about - minutes to read while you transform your mind with the living WORD.
I would encourage you to purchase this Bible app and become more in love with Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Wishing you a best and Happy New Year.

2. Love this Bible - I have been reading the book version of the one year NIV Bible since and was delighted to find this app. I am very pleased to be able to highlight verses and type on the note that you can pop up and then store in the margin for reference and to remember what God's holy Word said to me at the time. I have had no glitches with this version and it works great for my daily Bible reading.

3. the one year Bible NIV - The book is fine. I can' t change the start day of reading like I could on a FREE version, so I began reading the bible today, Nov. and the book starts with the day Jan. . That is annoying. For paying for the book, I would think that I could at least adjust the date to coincide with reality. I can highlight a word and get a dictionary meaning quickly and take notes that end up like sticky notes on the side of the text. I wish they would fix the date issue. If free bibles can do this, why can't a book on iBooks do at least that!

1. The Best Translation - LSV is undeniably the best translation, I have a LSV Bible and is my main Bible that I read from. When I first saw this I thought it was a physical copy and thought, “Dang, that’s gonna be heavy,” then realised it was an ebook and immediately purchased it. I really admire the CCC and agree with them % on their theology and goals. It is no doubt that YHWH hand is on this organization and I pray for their success in uniting the body of Christ throughout the world.

1. Have to go through entire book of the Bible to find chapter and verse - This version, a paraphrase, is a nice rendering of the Bible, but it is very difficult to use as an ebook. You can't tell where you are. No headings. When I'm wanting to read a portion, I must click on to the book, then go through the entire book to find the chapter and verse. For example, if I want to look up and read I Corinthians : I have to scroll to I Corinthians. That brings up the book, then I have to scroll through all of the chapters to get to chapter , then scroll down to the verse. This is very inconvenient. The publisher really needs to fix this!

2. Love the bible, but..... - I do enjoy this new bible, a unique read.
However, there is really no way to know where one is reading, the author did not design it to show what book you are reading on either the top or bottom. I wish i did not spend the money for this. This is not a study bible in the sense that one can quickly navigate, this is why i gave it a low score. To the creator - please incorporate some good navigation features.

1. A review from my teenage niece. - "I really liked the Chronological Gospels. I read it because my uncle gave it to me to read. It was very well laid out, easy to read and easy to understand which is hard for a year old to comprehend but I did easily. After completing the book and rereading a lot of it I enjoyed it. It opened my eyes and helped me understand more about the life and ministries of Yeshua. I would recommend this book to everyone." Aleah A.

3. Best book ever written ABOUT the best boo ever written! - The Chronological Gospels by Michael Rood is easily the best book ever written ABOUT the best book ever written! Broken up into a chronological sequence of "events", every time the narrative of the gospels shift in time and space, you are reading a new event. Michael gives expounding notes between the events which strongly reinforce a Hebraic mindset & world view for the reader, which often lead to sayings like "So THAT'S why that was important enough for the writer to document it!" out loud. Michael changes a few statements in the KJV, and dubs it "Corrected king james Version", such as referring to "a feast of the Jews" as "Shavuot, a Feast of YHVH", and capitalizing each feasts name, as well as the Sabbath. These are welcomed changes to those of us who live by every word from the mouth of our Creator, and honor His wishes that we cherish and give his Mo'ed (feasts) and Shabbat the respect they deserve. These few sentences could hardly do Michael Rood's life-work justice, but what I can do is highly recommend this book to anyone who ever wanted to go through the spiritual boot camp along with the disciples under the Teacher of teachers, Yeshua. I would have preferred the physical book over reading on an iPhone, but for the price difference, the iBooks version works just fine. Take this humble advice, and read the best book ever written ABOUT the best book ever written!

4. Not / years... but weeks ! - “The Chronological Gospels: The Life and Seventy Week Ministry of the Messiah presents an opportunity to read the Gospels and the teachings of Yeshua in the order in which they transpired and in a fresh Hebraic context, returning life and passion to the words on the page. The Chronological Gospels solves many of the problems that stem from Western gentile misunderstandings of the language, land, and culture of the ancient Hebrew Scriptures. This is the paradigm shift for which you have been waiting an entire lifetime.” Excerpt From: Michael J. Rood. “The Chronological Gospels.” iBooks. This material may be protected by copyright. Come and find out why/ how Eusebius who popularized a / year timeline for Yeshua was wrong, and how Yeshua really only had only...
"Seventy weeks are decreed for your people and for your set-apart city, to put an end to the transgression, and to seal up sins, and to cover crookedness, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up vision and prophet, and to anoint the Most Set-apart." Daniel : This book is essential reading to unlock the confusion of millennia of Churchianity (that gradually and unapologetically distanced themselves from anything "Jewish") and to sift through to the "Emet"- the truth - that the Hebraic root supports us, we do not support the root. Looking at the gospels from a "western gentile" mindset will only keep you in confusion for a lifetime- this book, however, will unlock the secrets that יהוה had in the whole of the books all along, and re-introduce you the Hebrew speaking Jewish Messiah יהושע , the Lamb of יהוה, who takes away the -penalty- for the sins of the world! Todah Rabah, Michael Rood, for your lifetime of dedication to produce this work, and for making this available on iBooks format !

1. Brigadier General Review - What a story, I have heard many things about this book, first it’s a Collaboration of Writers, every word is written by the here say of the opinions of others, always what Jesus did or said, never His words or hand that authored the Collection. Even the Pentateuch or the first five Books of the Old Testament were authored by Moses and his opinions, Also the Entire book has been called a treatise of ancient warfare.

2. Buyer Beware! - This is NOT a Douay-Rheims (DRB) translation as the foreword claims. Instead, this is the Catholic Public Domain Version (CPDV). Both versions are accepted (even published) by the church, however the Douay-Rheims translation is a little more academic. Still leaving a star review, however, simply because I can’t in good conscious rate the Bible as less than stars. God bless you!

2. Good book, but the movie’s better - The main character was a little weird tho, he sorta thought he was like...some kind of god. He’s a nice dude mostly though. Long book. I wish it was shorter. Idk if the author’s still around but I want him/her to sign my copy. I couldn’t finish it in one sitting, and I think the author’s autocorrect didn’t change a few typos it should’ve. Overall a pretty easy read.

3. Santos B Gonzales's review - All I have read is all goodness and truth. There is no other book that can be compared to the Holy Bible of GOD Almighty. This has been the sixth time I have read this Holy Bible from cover to cover and am fixing to start from the beginning again. Every time I read it I am inspired with something new. I get to know GOD better every time. My faith gets stronger and stronger with life looking different every day that do my Bible readings.

4. Relatable - Alright, first off I really did enjoy the story. There were very relatable characters, like Jesus and Abraham. I really liked a lot of the stories Jesus told too, they had great morals and added a lot to the plot. I also liked the twists, like when God was like "I'm gonna flood the world" and Noah "Was like ok, Ima build a huge ark." and God was like "good idea! " My main criticism was that it seemed a little unbelievable at some points, like creating the world in days.

5. Disappointed - I do not like the substitution of Yahweh for the name of God. In The sample the only name used is God in the book of Genesis. When I purchased the full version I find out they use the Name Yahweh starting in Exodus instead of God. I know Yahweh is another name for God but when reading during Church or bible study I prefer to read the name God. Another problem, no matter how I close out and return to library when you open the book again it defaults to the last chapter and verse you were reading. I will stay with the NIV or KJV version. Money wasted on WEB.

6. Garbage - This story makes no sense at all. I'm so confused. The authors wrote it years after the supposed events. Why do people think this is a true story? I'm very confused about the character of Jesus. He shows up halfway through the story saying he's the son of God. He has good quotes but I'm not quite sure about his magic powers. This book is really trying to be the avengers, but it's not a true story. IDK but /.

7. I pray for those who are... - I pray for everyone. I am on my way to fully accepting GOD through Jesus Christ...I want to make sure I am honest to myself in heart, mind, and spirit. I am thankful that I am submitting myself to GOD through Jesus Christ. I want every word in the Bible to live in me, I want to be the best I can be and to do this through living the words in the Bible.

8. I love the bible - I became a Christian about a month ago I'm ten years old and i think the bible is the best book there is in the universe. God is the one and only no one can love us more than Him. God is our savior and he protects us everywhere and there isn't anything that he can't do. That is why I love the bible and God's word!

9. forget religion. GET FAITH. - -FAITH: now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrews :) -just as others, i can not fathom what type of person would review "the bible" as they have, so foolishly. to say it is: fictional, fantasy & to make fun and be so disrespectful. it's amazing to ME how a person who doesn't KNOW God, is the quickest to find negativity in God. -"thou lovest evil more than good;and lying rather than to speak righteousness" (psalms :) -one of the best reviews i read, talked of what i often say to non-believers. WHY would you choose NOT to believe in a God, salvation and eternal life after death, when NO ONE really does know what happens after death?
do you REALLY want to take that chance? it doesn't hurt to believe, but it might not to believe. i would choose to be on the SAFE side, even if i wasn't raised in a christian home.
my daddy always said bible stands for: Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth
-yes, how cute, right? but honestly.. if you choose to be spiritual (as i do now) you'll find that this book IS a tool. a guide that provides wisdom, love, peace & comfort. -you do not have to be "religious" to believe in God or the bible. but you must have FAITH that He is real and WILL work in your life, if YOU allow him to. -best of luck and many prayers to the ones who speak blasphemy. i pray for your souls.. that you may find the light in this dark world. the truth, the way.. and live a life that consists of meaning rather than nothing. peace
check out the band: forever oeuvre
(not a "Christian labeled" band, but a band that speaks of hope in desperation & rocks!) -& to the believers! keep on keeping on, i pray that God blesses you for spreading his word! XO

10. Great sci-fi read! - Omgosh! This is such a lovely tail of a mystical creature that brings to life a man and woman named Adam and eve. Eve is really dumb and eats from a tree that god said not to eat from. Adam and eve become really embarrassed because they are naked. God gets pissed off and kicks them out of eden. Adam and eve have a lot of kids and those kids have kids and those kids have kids and ext ext till god gets pissed again and floods the earth. This dude name Noah built a ship though that god told him to build. Well Noah saved like EVERY animal and birds and creepy things. Anyway this story goes on to tell like more stories about all kinds of people. One being Jesus. Jesus is a baller turning water into wine. Healing people left and right. LOTR has nothing in this book!

11. Well done - This is NOT only the book of Genesis, contrary to what some reviews say. When you first download the book it will open up to the first page of Genesis - simply go back one page or go to the table of contents to see the full list of books of the bible. It's easy to go to a particular book and chapter with this edition, which is nice.

12. WWJD :) - Love this app! :D I wanted to check the reviews on this app and see how cool it was, but to my Dismay I saw conflict... Mathew : "But I tell you, do not resist them who is evil; but whoever strikes you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also." John : "This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you" We are to be Christ like if we want to change the world :). Okay, who are we to say what's what? Were we there in the beginning? Can we even make people to begin with? Where were we when light was formed, when man breathed its first breath, and when Christ our Savior died for the sakes of Humanity?... We have no saying against the Everlasting Creator. Fantasy? heh hard to believe right? That's GOD for you, defines the laws of life. For HE IS life. John : "Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying I AM the light of the world, he who follows in me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life." :)

13. It's true - You guys can believe whatever you want to and write as many reviews about this book as you need to, but I am a Christian and I believe in this book. Now those who are saying that this book is nothing but fictional and is just a fantasy, well that's your opinion. You can debate about this as much as you want but it's not going to get anyone any where. The fact of the matter is is that there will always be believers and nonbelievers in this world. Those who don't believe are probably making assumptions and haven't even read the whole story. If you are a nonbeliever either try to read the story again or respect the ones who do and their views. When we die someday (and we know someday it'll come) were either going to face the judgement of God or just be buried in the dirt, rot and not feel anything anymore. All I know is that if God wasn't real and the whole book of Bible was just a fantasy I still wouldn't have anything to worry about. I would never care about wasting my time over a useless belief because I still spent my life very well by sticking to what I believed in and telling others about a religion that gives people hope and makes them happy. By the way if you need a real great Christian story try reading Soon by Jerry Jenkins. :)

1. Incorrect books - Was watching a program and was looking for Psalm :. It was not the same as what the program stated. When I went to the paper Catholic Bible and of course the reading was correct. Found that the reading in the app turned out to be Psalm :. It is as if I was a book ahead. Don't have time to go through the app to see if other chapters are wrong. This was a waste of my time to download. Probably not going to get money back for a bad app, but certainly won't pass on that it is an app worth downloading to anyone in my Church that is looking for a electronic Bible.

2. The Bible - This one's the landmark: enormous, varied, confusing, deep, and eerily, importantly, readable. Despite its numerous detractors and its countless frustrations, it has attracted a serious following of slightly crazy people staring into its depths, and for good reason. This is a book of God speaking through man, staring his impossibilities straight in the face, and every verse reflects that, vibrating with an uncomfortable, fascinating intensity. I don't think I'll ever reach the end of it. I don't think I could read it twice.

3. Great Bible, Great Price - Love this Catholic Bible. I use it a lot and it's functioning works really well for me. Sometimes I bring it to my bible study class. Loads quickly and has it all. A great price too. I agree with the other commenter who mentioned bookmarking. I bookmark the four main gospels for even quicker access. Highly recommend this Bible.

4. Catholic Bible - Excellent Catholic Bible at an affordable price. I've been using this daily for a couple of weeks and I really enjoy it. I like the way the navigation is set up. I can access every chapter not just the main books for the table of contents. Despite being a big book, it loads quickly. I'd recommend bookmarking your favorite books for quick access. Works great.

5. Terrible navigation! - I have two major problems with the navigation in this bible. . This Bible is unusable with a Table of Contents that has every chapter of every book as a line item in the Table of Contents! Who ever heard of having to swipe literally Fifty times just to try to get to the New Testament!?! Maybe if I scroll down twenty times I'll be all the way to Leviticus Chapter !!!! . The bible itself takes about FIVE MINUTES to load on an iPad. That means I can't even use the scroll bar at the bottom of the page to quickly jump ahead to a book or chapter in the bible until five minutes after I've opened the book! That is completely frustrating and unless they fix this, makes this bible impractical for daily use.
