1. Nice Primer, Formatting Issues - The contents of this book are exactly what you'd expect from a ...For Dummies title: a well-organized elementary introduction to the topic. The only issue I had with it was the formatting quirks when it was read on an iPod touch. The diagrams are small and when zoomed in, the text is grainy and sometimes very difficult to read. Similarly, some pages had sidebars that overlapped the regular text. For the cost of this book, I wouldn't have expected to find these issues.

Being There or What You Missed - If you lived through the time period that Walter Isaacson so well writes about (as I have), you are going to be amazed with how far and quickly we have progressed and how we got here. Those of you that came into this timeline after it began, you will be amazed with what you missed experiencing. If you were directly involved with “computers” during this time period (as I was), it is so very interesting to see what we missed that was happening while we used this “new” technology. A great read!

3. Love of the Machine - This book is amazing. I was up until all hours of the night reading, reading, reading & learning, learning, learning. The interconnectedness of the world & how rapidly it is increasing is amazing. To see what has happened to technology since I bought my st IBM computer in for $ with two megabit (yes, megabit) hard drives & how it has gotten here continues to amaze me. Mr Isaacson enthralled me.

4. The Innovators - This book made me regret my decision in the late 's to major in history at Stanford and relegate my one computer science class to the category of "interesting but not useful." I am in awe of all the innovators described in this book and those who aren't mentioned as well. If you read this book you will learn not only what made many of them obsess toward innovation but also the factors that led some of the innovators to become household names and others to be lost to history.

5. Great book! - Read a great book over Thanksgiving break! Highly recommend to anyone who has ever taken apart a piece of electronics to see how it worked. 1. Meh - Although there are a few valuable tips and tricks, the book seems to gloss over the finer details of the craft. It seems to have be written in a rush (several typos). It's also written in an extremely bland writing voice with no real conviction. Find this book used, but don't pay full price. Bob Katz's book on mastering is much more detailed and informative and possesses much more personality.
