This book gave me all the recourses to confidently fix the issue at hand. I’m not sure why the rating on here shows an average of three stars because that’s nonsense. I recommend this book to literally everyone I know.

1. Great content and topic - Mac does a great job when writing about physics to make it interesting. Where he wonders too far into the sci-fi space, it’s becomes hard to read. Great topic and great content, just feel like it could’ve been more concise. Nonetheless, it’s not like I’ve written a book worth reading so kudos to him on such a difficult and needed topic.

2. The case for optimism - A thoughtful and erudite review of the state of artificial intelligence as well as the challenges and opportunities it offers humanity. I found the analysis of consciousness and the question of whether machines will ever be consciousness. The author is marshalling thoughtful people to work together to avoid a future where insensitive machines rule the for roost.

4. Amazing! - Just finished the exciting new book, "Life ." by Max Tegmark about the seemingly inexorable rise of artificial intelligence. The book was outstanding in both scope and depth of knowledge that Tegmark is able to present in an engaging and extremely thought provoking way. We are about years away from "Artificial General Intelligence (AGI)", computers with the ability to accomplish any cognitive task at least as well as humans. With the rise of these computers, humans will no longer be the smartest entities on the planet. What kind of future do we want? Highly recommend the book to anyone interested in biology, and computers. Great pictures and graphics too.

Cadillac Desert - Great historic summary of the development of both the Bureau of Reclamation and Army Corps of Engineers and their ruthless competition to out compete each other to construct mostly worthless dams on the rivers of the US west whether or not they had any return on value. Interesting background about how little politicians know about anything, but will support projects in their districts no matter if right or wrong. It’s how this country has gotten into the mess it is in now. This book amplified how important it is that no matter how important we think constructing a major project, we need to look very carefully for all the negative issues to ensure the project does no harm.

The Siemens environment is not an easy switch and I have had issues learning how Siemens works with their Bytes and Bits. This book shows that very well and has excellent examples.

To Infinity and Beyond - This was a profound read for me about a man who pulls out all stops and pursues life with the reckless abandon necessary to achieve and fulfill the highest heights of his gritty spirit, ambition, and strivings. Elon Musk has become nothing short of a hero for me. A manifestation of an American and human that is leading a paradigm shifting transformation of what it is and means to be human, what it is and means to live, and what it is and means to achieve, produce, and create. “Unprecedented” is an understatement. I look forward to experiencing what more I have to learn from him, what more I will be inspired by him, and what more I will be challenged by him. 2. Highly recommended - If you are someone who likes to study special individuals who elicit change on a large scale then this book is a great read. Well put together by the author, this book goes into great detail about Elon’s life and what makes him tick. I’ll be recommending this book to many people and re-reading it again myself.

3. Elon musk - This book is very well written. The writer did a great job I really enjoyed seeing it from his perspective and he seemed to take no sides its hard to find that these days writers and journalists writing without an agenda. It felt to me the writer was just trying to make Elon musk and his life as transparent as possible by telling all sides not just two. Anyway......Elon musk has truly inspired me lol I'm a coal miner from Birmingham Alabama And I so badly want to buy a Tesla models S And probably will within the next year or two It's funny a coal miner wanting an electric car. Also I like knowing there's people trying to push our human race to do something great and to better it. Im really glad that he's making America interested in space again. Growing up it seemed everyone had just let the space and NASA fade away. Anyway it's a great read!

It shows his undying effort pays off through even through the toughest and grimest of circumstances, ultimately leading him to become recognized as one of the most influential leaders & innovators of the twenty-first century. It portrays a far deeper understanding to Musk’s motives and thinking than what is seen on the media. Truly amazing.

5. Surprised and Amazed. I highly recommend this book - I've always wanted to know more about Elon Musk, a person who seems larger than life. I'm glad to have read this novel as I provided me with some much needed insight into the life of the inventor. This book reads very easily and the writer did a truly fantastic job immersing the reader into the world of Elon Musk.

6. Great Read. Don't skip the asterisks! - This is an inspiring read about a person who seems to have no limits on his energy and ambition. It shows the flaws of Musk, but also why many of them make him even better at what he does. I think most readers will be amazed at how much he has accomplished in a very short time on this planet. In all likelihood, there is much more to come, both on this planet and beyond!

7. Quick read; good book - I had read some about Elon Musk before starting this book, but it did a great job of putting the information in context. Overall it was a quick read and moved at a good pace. The only thing I found lacking was a glossary of people with a summary of their relationships to Musk to which I could refer after finishing the book.

8. I'm not worthy - Excellent, informative, inspiring, fluid, constant wowing. I don't know what to say it's well written and smooth. But what's more incredible is the life of Elon. It's worth knowing about this man. He is our modern day Franklin, Edison, Ford, and list goes on. Enjoy this read I think it's a lot fun

9. Elon Musk - Elon Musk is an inspirational account for the ages. A brilliant man and his band of some of the worlds smartest people he seems well on his way in his mission to save this planet, vastly improve life as we know it and light new paths in space exploration and discovery. With successful aerospace, electric car and solar energy companies that set the bar in their respective fields, Musk appears unstoppable. But the real hero of this book for mr is Ashlee Vance. His skill at making techno-geek smartfests and Silicon Valley goings-on even readable for me let alone compelling was masterful. I hated putting it down and found myself reading the appendix, notes and acknowledgements in a fiendish groping for more. Bravo! Extremely well done. Encore!

10. A great read, and a balanced view of an amazing man - I've been following Tesla and SpaceX for a few years, own two Teslas, and am a shareholder. I read everything I can find about Musk but most of it is sensationalized and shallow. This book is anything but. I came away with a much deeper understanding of why Elon is the way he is and what drives him. Only one minor criticism: the reasons behind Musk's drive to establish a human colony on Mars are only lightly touched on. Maybe I missed it, but I think a deeper explanation is required, explaining in more depth why Musk's concerns about human terrestrial extinction from climate change or asteroid impact. Just another couple of paragraphs. Otherwise readers can dismiss Musk's goal as being without sufficient foundation.

11. Masterpiece - A well written book on a fascinating subject. I enjoyed the meticulous detail and storytelling effort Mr. Vance puts into revealing many of Elon's lofty if not seemingly insane pursuits. While someone with such amazing intelligence and ambition seems implausible, I realize this deity is human after all by the end of the book. But we can achieve greatness in spite of our imperfections. By the end of the book I believe one appreciates Elon Musk and his sacrifices so much more. A great read.
