1. Essential for Police and all that serve the public - Since I graduated the academy, I was always placed into a "one ranger, one riot" scenario. I knew because of limited resources and back up I needed to make as few enemies as possibe and avoid physical contact to the best of my ability. This book helped explain and point out where I was doing right, what I was doing wrong, and gave me more verbal tools to improve. It is an extremely humbling read when you finish. I realized that my struggles of communication were from bad experiences and lack of leadership, but now I know how to verbally communicate and get people to comply without laying a finger on them. If you struggle with difficult people or finding the right words to say in highly emotional situations, buy this book!

1. Sophia L. Grace - What an amazing book about animals! As a parent, I am always looking for books that are both educational and engaging for my kids, and this book does not disappoint. The illustrations are beautiful and really bring the animals to life on the page. My kids loved learning about all the different animals featured in the book, from lions and tigers to penguins and pandas. The information provided is perfect for young readers, with just the right level of detail to keep them interested and excited to learn more. This book has quickly become a favorite in our household, and I would highly recommend it to any parent looking to inspire a love of animals in their children. Five stars!

1. Excellent Advice - This little book was outstanding! Its clear directions were a relief to read in a world awash with political correctness. Some may find the idea of rules restricting. I, however, found it edifying. This book is a good source of advice to the writer, whether a beginner or an expert.

1. Love it - I own a hard copy of this book. You are thought that you already know thousands of Spanish words. Then you learn the past tense of commonly used verbs. This is done since you usually talk to people about things that happen in the past. I have bought more than a few Spanish books in my life, and this is my favorite. This book, and a book of Spanish verbs goes a long way.

1. Best $. I’ve ever spent - Before this book, I was a super slow reader, to the point I avoided reading because it just ended up wasting time. I didn’t think there was anything to improve it, but after just one pass of this book, I have at least x my reading, and I’m not exaggerating. I thought the lessons would be time consuming and difficult, but they are not. Each chapter is only a few pages and as the book description says you just need to make a few simple shifts. I thought reading faster would affect comprehension, but actually my comprehension has soared. I understand far more than ever before, because the book puts a lot of effort on how to understand text. I use to think simply reading something would help you understand it, but there is a lot more to it. Even if you don’t care to speed read or are already a fast reader, the lessons on comprehension are worth it. The best part for me were the tips on remembering the information. The book says just because you read or understand something, doesn’t mean you will remember it. Even though you think the idea or passage is too memorable to forget, few hours or days later it will be forgotten. That was always my experience, but now I don’t forget, I follow the tips and the information stays for a long time. This wasn’t an issue for me, but there are even discussions on how to overcome daydreaming or your mind wandering when reading. I know some people struggle with that, so that might be helpful. It’s a very well put together book with lots of research and science, and it does work, so forget what others say and spend the $. on it, it’s well worth it!

1. A book worth reading once is worth reading twice (or four times!) - The authors teach you how to read great books like you'll have them for a few days then never see them again--giving you the tools you need to make them your own and to remember them in a year or a decade. This includes learning to read on four different levels: analytically, synthetically, critically, and syntopically (more than one author on the same topic). Once you master the book, practice the techniques in a seminar or in a reading group. It's hard to read great books on your own (they are rarely easy to understand, or they would not be called great). It takes support and a few months to turn these reading techniques into habits.

1. Interesting book - Interesting look at the use of language in cult like behavior. It not only discusses cults like Jim Jones, Heavens Gate, and the Branch Davidians. But also touches on other groups and movements that you wouldn’t consider to be cults like fitness crazes, social and political movements, gyms, conspiracy theories, diets, religious movements, charity groups. social clubs (even beneficial clubs like Alcoholics Anonymous) which all use Cultish language to hook people in. You’ll learn to recognize such language tricks after reading this book.

2. Defected Cult Members, This One’s for You - I am so thankful to have stumbled across this book only a few weeks after realizing that the fundamentalist Christian group I’d left after years was actually a destructive cult. At a time in my life when I couldn’t find the language to express what I’d been through and how I’d gotten sucked in, the author of this book gave me the words. I highly recommend this to anyone, defected cult members or otherwise.

3. Cultish - Cultish is very informative for people who were not already well versed in the world of cults and mind control. However I found a few pieces of information missing that brings More clarity than the author does. For example, neuroscientists that study the brain have found that certain parts of the brain make you more or less open to believing unproven beliefs depending on their size.

1. Cute books for kids but.. - The books are cute and easy for kids but they all do come as one big download so you have to read the books in order or search for a book. This is a big issue for me. I wanted to buy the other sets but unless they update this and fix it I don't think I will buy anymore. This might have worked better as a app to open up and have access to all the books by cover . Please update and let us chose the books.

1. Life changing - I saw the movie and now am just midway through this. I feel privey to these students' inner most thoughts and lives. What a priveledge that they have allowed me to enter their world. You all have change the way I see things and have made me a less judgmental, passionate and caring person. Thank you for sharing with me. Yeats gets credit for saying- There are no strangers only friends we haven't met yet.

2. The Freedom Writers - Best book I have read about teenagers in trouble with the public schools system. I am originally from Long Beach, CA and was actually a student at Wilson High from - & had to drop out of high school cause of a nd pregnancy. This book is amazing because of how I relate to some of the stories in the students diaries. Thank God my mother moved to Northern CA and I was able to graduate from high school take a short course and ended up finding an awesome job working for the Federal Government. Now my girls are age & both graduates and now in college best feeling ever. Now I need to visit The Freedom Writers Foundation and donate cash for the best of other needed students. I have also referred other co-workers to purchase the book and donate to foundation to assist those in need. Love & will continue to encourage other to share the wealth. I must say this books was actually read by my son a few years ago and I kept putting it aside to read until now. I must admit that I was scared to picture my self back in the days or admitting to some of these awful things that I was part off back then. My son now loves reading and failed in love with this book & Anne Franks Diary. So Thanks to my baby boy for the recommendation.

3. Better than most - Most of the books my school picks for summer reading are pretty lame, so when I saw that this was an option and read the description I was pretty excited. The first half of the book did not disappoint. Every kid had a different hardship and story that kept me interested and there was always something I, or anyone else, could relate to. However, the latter half left me unsatisfied. It was boring and basically the same thing was repeated over and over for the last or so diary entries. Yes, (spoiler alert) everyone graduated and lived happily ever after. Good for them, but I don't need to hear about the same exact thing times, just slightly reworded each time. But if you like a good, heartwarming story about the average high schooler packed with cheesy life lessons, go for it.

4. Surprised - This book is a lot better than I thought it would be. I had to read for school for a bio report and I actually wanted to read a different book but thought I should put this as my first choice becauase of my bad luck. Well I ended up getting this one anyway. I am so happy. It is amazing and so much better than I thought it would be. I did find some content a little offensive but I can understand how it was not meant to hurt. But it was good.

1. Inspiring book about writing - Part of me would like to be a writer, a storyteller. I suspect that ambition arises from the stories my father told when I was a boy, and my love of reading. I live on the threshold of being a bookworm. Which side of the threshold I'm not sure. McPhee talks about his life as a writer and teacher of writing in a manner that can be called entertaining, inspiring, and educational. I have nothing more to ask. He is an author I'd like to know.

1. Wonderful - I’m an English prof, and I own more writing books than I can count. This is one of the funniest, smartest, and useful books I’ve read. This book, I believe anyway, is perfect for writers and profs who are working through manuscripts of their own because Dreyer offers a publisher’s perspective on writing issues and worries that plague advanced writers: All writers make mistakes, and most writers make the same mistakes repeatedly, and you can always look things up. The explanations he gives are memorable because they are funny and smart. So, you may not learn hard and fast grammar rules, but you will get a better sense of how to handle gnarly writing challenges. I read this book cover to cover in one night. And I laughed out loud many times. I appreciated the care that must have gone into modulating the tone of the book and anticipating specific worries that writers have. One gets the feeling they (I am keeping an open mind about “they,” as the text sort of kind of encourages) are talking to a seasoned professional who wants to help you and has nothing to prove. Just good advice and encouragement.
So very glad I found this gem of a book.

2. Fantastic!! - I absolutely adore this. I do. It’s perfectly charming in an unconventional way. I’m both reading the book and listening to the audiobook (also available on iTunes.) Benjamin Dreyer expresses the rules, nonrules, and ettiquette of grammar and language through experiences he has faced as a copyeditor over the years. Rules are explained through experiences and stories. It’s fantastic. I enjoy the narrative that mixes with the lessons as they help me remember what should and should not be said or written. Although, perhaps if Dreyer were to see this review, he would think that my English could use some work. All in all, I find this book highly enjoyable and truly entertaining. Much more than a style manual, it is helpful and hilarious and overly amusing.

1. A fascinating read - I have never been interested in the history of the language I speak regularly. I listened to several of the authors classes on Great Courses and he was very engaging. I decided to buy some books of his. Now he has me thinking of the history of English in way I never have before. Phoenician really as a contributor and re-arranger of the German that English formed from. It’s impressively mind blowing.

2. Entertaining and Illuminating - Finally someone has come up with some theory why English is littered with the word "do" and whay caused the legrndary Great Vowel Shift. I don't know why the author's theory that one of the greatest unfluences on the English's language came from the Welsh (the only ither "do" language in the world!) Oh wait. I know why… English snobbery!!! Anyway, the author should've stopped about / through cuz that's when it started to get boring & I shelved it. But the first half or so is GREAT! I'm reading his book "The Power of Babel" now and it's fascinating! Perfect for amateur linguists who just want the whole mess of the history of language distilled down to its most intrresting parts.

1. Should be more clear - I got this book to learn Irish. It suggests in the description that audio is included to teach the pronunciation of Irish. It is not. It is also not found on TY’s website. In fact, I couldn’t even find a reference to this textbook on their website. Perhaps it was discontinued? If that’s the case, then why did they keep selling on iBooks? Regardless, the book is incomplete without the promised audio tracks.

1. Evergreen rock solid foundation - You get a high ROI on using this book. Solid advice from his expensive experience and years in direct marketing. Still highly relevant for serious money getting in and beyond. If you want to get into freelance copywriting but don’t know head from tail, inside you get the full what to do, what not to do, how to do it, and why… including the done for you… The last part is important. It’s money in the bank when you get the actual copy used in money making promotions… or checklists to screen prospects… or how to come up with targeted lists for prospecting safe bets… I don’t know why Bob’s not more famous. If you have any anxieties about copywriting, or personal ability, or external circumstances, he covers multiple ways in each section to make this work for you. Some very minor details are outdated but you literally get a whole pipeline in a book for setting up your biz.
