1. A Warning Shot - Michael Pillsbury performs a great service in defining the threat emerging from China. The threat many not initially be militaristic, but it is certainly detrimental to the Breton Woods system and the propagation of liberalism throughout the world. China is the enemy of American individualism, free press, free markets, freedom of religion, nuclear nonproliferation, and any other ideals attributable to the West. This book posses to the reader: Can we afford to let the Chinese Communist Party become the hegemony they accuse the United States of being? This book is required reading for a post-COVID- world in which China works to integrate Taiwan just as it has done with Hong Kong (and the Tibet and Xinjiang provinces before them).

2. Scary truth that’s obvious if you look - The book spoke a lot about a political regime hell-bent on taking over as the major world power by whatever means necessary. The moves they are making should be obvious to the casual observer how much China is willing to do anything to get what it feels it should have. The author does a great job humbly convincing you not to fall under the same misconceptions he was guilty of. Read tia book and pay attention to mews in the Pacific region and you’ll see how painfully truthful the authors words are.

1. A scholarly tome - History would be so simple if the crisis that became World War I had a single perpetrator to blame, such as Gavrilo Princip, or Imperial Germany. No such luck, as MacMillan shows; this whodunnit is more akin to “Murder on the Orient Express”. Worse, the fatal catastrophe could have been prevented like so many prior near-misses, if some of the usual suspects had still been around, or if the other perpetrators had, once again, set aside grievances and prior regrets. I enjoyed this book, but it’s not a light read, and about ten percent of the pages are scholarly notes. MacMillan guides the reader on a timeline through all the various miscalculations, missing persons, and missed opportunities that ended the Concert — thus leading to the cataclysm and collapse of Imperial Europe.

2. Indulgent and political - The author clearly spent considerable time researching and crafting a cohesive story leading up to and through World War One. But through the layers of details, many which take tangents without parallel in other chapters, she is both insistent that there is no one single cause or party to blame for the war (which of course is superficially true, but even in her recounting, she reinforces the commonly held view that Germany/the Kaiser hold disproportionate responsibility), and regularly makes explicit and weak analogies to Republican policies today suggesting the U.S. could create an environment that would lead to another complex and widespread war. There is undeniable quality in her research and writing but the hypocritical political undertone is regularly unbearable.

3. The War That Ended Peace - A comprehensive history of the institutional inadequacies and personal biases and failures that led to the Great War. Excellent command of the many threads that comprised the noose which strangled Europe. One hundred years later we are still living with the consequences of the decisions made and acts taken.

1. Good - Overall a decent read. David does an excellent job of placing it all into context. His conclusion of a cyber accord seems pie in the sky at best. A better idea is digital fingerprinting and eyeball recognition in order to access the internet. Much like a drivers license for net. Closing the system is the preferred model for the Chinese and the other adversaries. Which is why our open system will always be vulnerable and hacked //. Most of these tech companies have much to answer for. Not just Facebook which seems to have been a large part of the focus here. Microsoft, dollar for dollar has allowed the illegal transfer of tens of billions due to its shoddy operating system. It is still the dominate dog pile everybody learns. Book is highly recommended and well written.

1. Great read - Chomsky explains why the world is in the state that it is in, and he does so through a series of questions and answers. It was very a necessary read then during Bush's presidency, and it is still a necessary read today. Due to it's rather simple language, even the average person could find out so much about current events. Most importantly a person could understand why the world is in the state that it is in. I Truly recommend this book.

1. Great Introduction to Understanding Our World - I found this to be an excellent “wave tops” primer on how our world came to where it is now and how it operates, for better or worse. Those looking for deep-dives into any one of the topics discussed will be disappointed, but it’s not the book’s purpose. The author provides you with plenty of noted to look elsewhere.

1. All politicians & Hollywood should have to read this! - One of the best books ever written about how our world got this way. If more people would read this book, they would have a better understanding of big oil, world governments, other cultures, world economics, and would quit pointing fingers and spouting partisanship. Yergin writes this book in a very realistic tone without editorializing the issues. His incredible amount of research becomes apparent before the second chapter. I wish I had read the first edition twenty years ago. However, I plan on reading his next installment when it is released next month. Read this book! And then share it with family & friends!

1. An Essential Read - World Order is a sequel to Kissinger's masterpiece A World Restored. In some ways it is an update covering the postwar period up to mid-summer . For any person interested in international relations, diplomatic history and international law, this book is an essential read. World Order is breathtaking in its historical scope and insight.

1. Oh Brave New World Explained - This is a must read for anyone planning on "dwelling" in the st century as it will lay an intellectual foundation in helping you better understand future world events, happenings, and trends as they continue to unfold and deploy in what is becoming a "Gordian Knot of Globalization." What is refreshing here is unlike so many works today that are written in a spirit of fear and reader anxiety(mostly to leverage the author's buck making) this work is grounded in true optimism. It makes sense of our dynamic world and will underwrite success for all having to navigate the structural changes underway of the Age we live in both now and for the next years. Can't recommend enough. Cheers.

1. Poorly organized and repetitive - A disappointing read, almost painful at times, and a missed opportunity. There is useful content here but it is poorly organized. The book reads like a series of rambling lectures. The text is verbose and repetitive; brace yourself for frequent appearances of the phrases, ‘as noted’, ‘as we have seen’, and ‘as I have explained’. Was there no editor for ‘Revenge’? And forget about using this book as a reference text for there is no index. Much space is given over to describing national and geographic features since fewer than maps are included, one of which is a map of the Persian empire in BCE. And the book is mis-titled: it should have been called ‘The Revenge of Geography and History: What History and the Map Tells Us About Coming Conflicts and the Battle Against Fate’ since lengthy portions are given over to historical precedents dating back millennia. I was looking for a useful text on contemporary geopolitical trends but I am still looking. Kaplan's is not the one.

1. Our future - I recently read Three Cups of Tea after already having a strong feeling that the United States involvement in Afghanistan needed to have more of a focus on humanitarian aid. After reading this, along with weekly articles in the New York Times by Thomas Friedman, I know now that the real path to peace is investing in our collective future. I feel that most humanitarian aid goes to a good cause, but without having on on the ground view point of where you are sending your money, the effect might not show true dividends. Greg Mortensen saw a need, and acted on it with no money, but a vision. I wish that one day we can all see someone struggling and put forth a miraculous effort to effectively provide a catalyst for those in need. I love my country and I feel that with the proper means, our government could begin leading the way for effective and specific humanitarian aid in the places "at the end of the road." Having spent time in Montucky as folks call it, it is a blessing to know that the gratitude that is instilled from growing up under the Big Sky has spread to the farthest parts of the world.

1. Excellent Overview of the State of the World in the Post-WWII Period - Comprehensive review of the World and the US Role in it since WWII. His breakdown of the Eras and Regions make the book easy to follow. The book pretty much covers my lifetime and while I don’t consider myself a scholar of Modern World History, I did follow and recognize most of the players and events that Haass deals with. It served as a good review and a good basis for understanding the importance and impact of so many of the events we hear about each day. With Trump trying to overturn the History and Future of the Western World we used to know, it is increasingly important to know where we are and how we got here. Haass’ book warns us of the pitfalls awaiting a World subjected to his whims, fears, needs and impulses!

1. Who rules the world? - Cracks are beginning to appear in the delusion we are being fed of living in a democracy.
What Smedley Butler and Dwight Eisenhower had warned us about, years ago, has manifested itself. No living person has attempted to bring this to our awareness more consistently than Noam Chomsky. Banned from National Petroleum Radio (a prime example of the corporate takeover of public arenas) Noam Chomsky continues, at age ,

1. Fantastic insights. - The “other” reviewer is obviously a pro-Trump advocate. His bias demonstrates a clear lack of knowledge of the author. I suspect the reviewer read one or two paragraphs to reach his “conclusion.” To suggest that Snyder should “read some history books” is laughingly absurd. Professor Snyder has authored many, many valuable history books which have profoundly informed me. And I was a history minor for my undergraduate degree.

1. Broaden's world-view - A warts and all survey of the American era, one that on balance is so far immeasurably better than any altnative in history, and contrary to common knowledge, not necessarily now destined to decline. Kagan convincingly presents a series of arguments illustrated convincingly with historically acurate and pertinent examples. His analysis is sober and eye-opening, to both those who already share his thesis and those who don't. A must read, ideally for all politically active Americans, especially our elected national leadership—if it were so I think we would find our American spirit braced to meet all challenges. Not perfectly, but better than any alternative.

1. Required Reading - I finished this book perhaps six months ago, have recommended this to many friends because it is critical that Americans know what we are dealing with. There are no guideposts, no moral or ethical boundaries for CCP decisions and conduct. It is very difficult for the average American to clearly see what is happening today, what has happened and why however Mr Spaulding does a spectacular job based on his years of experience that provides anyone who simply follows along with the proper lense from which one can clearly see the playing field. Our team appears to be properly hindered by moral, legal and ethical lanes however the CCP has no boundaries of any sort with the exception of whether an action or decision furthers their goals. I wish that the entire country was awake to the depth, breadth and thoroughness to which our country has been corrupted. This is a tangled mess- recovery will be difficult if possible at all. The more I learn the more concerned I become. Highly recommended.

2. Stealth War - by Robert Spalding. - This is a must read. I couldn’t put the book down. It is true, we as a freedom loving nation face an existential threat from the CCP. This book clearly illustrates this threat and the solution. Time for business as usual is over. If the current Wuhan virus has clearly demonstrated anything it has show the true evil face of the CCP.

1. Title doesn't match content - I expected this book to be, like the title expresses, a book comparing and contrasting three ideas. Instead, the book was far more a medium for Ian Bremmer to preach his politics. Though I agree with many things he said, I was disappointed that the book wasn't more thought provoking.

1. For any American who wants to understand the Mideast conflict - Clear, informative, easy to read, which is helpful with this anciently difficult conflict between Israeli Jews and those with whom, like it or not, they have always shared the land. This is the journey of an Israeli partisan who, through his persistent and influential efforts to find peace, learned the very different side of the conflict as well. Americans would do well to read this history of the conflict at the leadership level and to appreciate that there are two equally blessed peoples who deserve Americans' and the world's attention and labor. And then, dig for more information in the European, Arabic and Israeli press, as the conflict receives precious little attention in the American press from the Palestinian perspective.

2. Palestine peace not apathaid - It will take great courage for a USA politician to honest and frank regarding the Israeli arrogance of occupying, suppressing, demolition of homes and overall terrorizing the rightful people of Palestine. 1. Very good read/listen and an important book. - This book takes everything that has been under the table in regards to Israel's influence on American politics and Middle East foreign policy and puts it on top of the table where it belongs. Where else can it be properly debated? The book's authors are highly reputable, its sources are well documented and its tone and substance are clearly not anti-Israel and certainly not anti-Semitic as many of its detractors would have us believe. In fact, this book is truly courageous as its authors have chosen to brave these inevitable accusations from people who would rather have this information ignored. This book leads me to believe that we can be a good ally to Israel without allowing it to take advantage of us. Be brave and read it. I-Tunes never explained to me why approximately - reviews for this book disappeared sometime before //.

2. The Israel lobby - This is an outstanding book. I have never read a more comprehensive well researched effort to help us understand the confounding mystery of America getting caught up in a movement that is so contradictory to our American values. It may someday be looked back on as the bell that tolled and woke up the countryside. Israelis themselves may someday look back with gratitude as it could become a great contributor to an ultimate solution and save Israel from itself. It is rather peculiar that the critics of the book have resorted to name calling and attacking motives rather than discuss the actual content!

1. Hindsight - This is pure liberal trash. Written in a hindsight perspective. The author demonstrates, his distrust and lack of respect for this country he himself has benefited from. Do not waste your money on this book. It's full of lies and distortion. If the author wishes I'll pay for a flight to north Korea, with the promise he lives there for years! Then let's see how he writes his next book.

2. Selective History - If you'd like to read a critique of American foreign policy that ignores critical facts and panders to liberal biases then this is the book for you. Setting aside the author's flawed interpretation of historical events, this book can serve as a wonderful basis for understanding the liberal world-view. Much like the fiction that guides the imperial forces the author feels to be so great a threat to the republic, the conceit that the USA is the source of all evil could be considered just as parochial and ethnocentric. Save your cash. Nothing new here.

3. Very thoughtful and relevant - Not liberal as a previous reviewer said. It's about America's place in the world. Just read the sample and you'll realize that he believes all recent administrations have contributed to current situations. This is a thoughtful treatise from a foreign relations specialist.
