1. More Magic from Karen White - Having read all of Karen White books, the Tradd Street series was my favorite. Wacky Melanie was unique as a lead character, and the rest of the cast were equally fascinating. That said, I hope this book is the beginning of a new series. The characters, both familiar and new, are wonderful and New Orleans is the perfect setting for ghostly shenanigans. The only downside to a book by Karen White is waiting for the next one!

1. A short christmas mission - This is a short christmas story about Verity and Frankie helping out a friend. It starts out as a simple mission to get a necklace back and ends up a bigger mission to reunite a mother and son. This was a heartwarming story with great humor and is a very good addtion to the Southern Ghost Hunter Mysteries. It was quick to read and left me anticipating the next book.

2. Heartwarming - This novella finds the main character Verity in yet another sticky situation. As the towns resident “Ghost Whisperer”, she is called upon by a ghost she befriended previously, Major Matthew Jackson of the Union Army, to retrieve something from his mother to give to his girlfriend Josephine. It is of great importance that he has this object but due to previous family problems he is unable to obtain it on his own. If Verity is involved nothing can ever be straight forward and easy. She has the ability with the help of her ghost shadow Frankie the German to get into all kinds of interesting situations and this time is no different. Set during the holidays she sees her opportunity to help Matthew when her friend Lauralee is hired to cater a Christmas party at Matthew’s child hood home. I laughed out loud at some of Verity’s antics. I have loved this series from the very first book and look forward to reading many more adventures of Verity. Be sure to grab a copy now and get to know Verity and the rest of the gang.

3. Sweet Little Holiday Tale - Treat yourself to a wonderful little holiday tidbit from the Southern Ghost Hunter Mystery Series. Author Angie Fox has served up an entertaining tale for a quick read by bringing back Verity Long, everyone's favorite communicator with the recently, and not so recently departed. Along with the help of her 's gangster sidekick, Frankie, Verity is enlisted by Civil War veteran Matthew Jackson to retrieve a very special memento from his family home.
The characters from this series are quickly becoming familiar old friends, and this sweet story, centered around the holiday season, is the perfect length for a soak in the tub or to curl up with under an afghan on your sofa. Do something nice for yourself, or introduce a friend to the fun, entertaining, engaging stories in this colorful series.

1. Love love love - This series is amazing so far!! Each book has a “main character or two” then the beloved people of the town. I feel like I’ve been transported into the cozy town of auburn where i could simply sit on the porch in the fall with a cup of coco and be perfectly happy. And this town has so many secrets! From the down to earth people to the supernatural secrets I am left wanting more! Two books down and ready to jump into the third.

1. Overall - This installment of Danielle was very good. The story is pretty sad to say the least about a character that’s been in the series since the beginning. The way the story is in every page had my eyes glued to what’s happening. Overall, I really enjoyed this story from beginning to end and it’s worthy re-reading again.

1. Fifth book in series (can be read alone) - The Guests on South Battery by Karen White is the fifth book in the Tradd Street series. Melanie Middleton Trenholm is returning to work in Charleston, South Carolina after being away a year on extended maternity leave. Melanie gave birth to twins, J.J. and Sarah. Melanie arrives at Henderson House Reality to find a client waiting in her office. Jayne Smith has inherited the Pinckney house on South Battery and is eager to sell it. Jayne has a dislike of old homes (they make her uncomfortable). Jayne has no clue as to why Button Pinckney left her the house. Melanie has sixth sense that she inherited from her mother’s side of her family. Spirits (or ghosts) have left her alone for the last year, but now they are making a reappearance. Melanie agrees to sell Jayne’s home and gets the bonus of having Jayne as her nanny. Upon entering the Pinckney home, Melanie discovers there are restless spirits in the home. One of them is strong and can shroud its presence from Melanie. Melanie is going to need the help of her mother, Ginette Prioleau Middleton. Between the two of them, they hope to move these spirits on (get them out of the house). Will they be able to settle these restless spirits? Why did Button leave her home to Jayne? The Guests on South Battery is nicely written. It is a combination of women’s fiction, mystery, and paranormal. While it is part of a series, The Guests on South Battery can be read alone. The author gives the readers the needed information on the characters and happenings from the other novels are mentioned throughout the book. I give The Guests on South Battery out of stars. I was hoping for more of the paranormal element in the book. I did not find it compelling and it was predictable. The mysteries can be solved long before the results are revealed. I had a hard time liking the characters especially Melanie. Melanie has many issues. The main one is her OCD (she should really see a therapist and get some medication). Melanie believes that the twins should be kept on a timetable (she has a spreadsheet), and she has labeled everything in their room (this is just the start). Melanie seems to suffer from “Scarlet O’Hara” syndrome (ignore things or think about them tomorrow). Melanie’s pre-pregnancy clothes do not fit her and she finds the oddest explanations (strange fumes in her closet, the dry cleaner shrunk them). I believe it is supposed to be funny, but it comes across as just odd (like a comedian who tells a joke and does not get laughter). I did not understand Melanie’s attitude towards her gift (she seems to resent it). This seems to be a recurring theme in paranormal novels lately. I found some information repeated frequently throughout the novel (an example is how Jack’s daughter loaned the pair money for the house). I thought there was a little too much going on in the book. I only summarized the main events of this novel. I just felt that the novel needed a little rewriting and editing.

1. Addicted! - I met Karen and she signed the first of the Tradd Street Series at the first Womens Wellness Weekend in Mt. Pleasant hosted by one of my dearest friends, Kimberly Powell of the Woodhouse Day Spa. I knew she would be a great author by the way she lit up as she spoke about writing! Her personality is contagious! Life happened and I didn’t pick her book up to read until this past summer , years later. I was hooked immediately and just finished The Christmas Spirits and am dying for the last book of the series to come out! As a newbie to Charleston, I feel like Karen’s been my personal tour guide and historian! Thanks Karen!!! :)

2. Christmas on Tradd St. - I hated to see the end and cannot wait for another in the series. Melanie and Jack are a couple I root for. I can see the opportunity for MANY more books as there are so very many ghosts of Charleston. Please continue the series. For anyone who knows Charleston and it’s rich history knows the plethora of ghost/history stories.

1. She’s a liar - This author ruined the life of a man she wrongfully accused. Why read the books of an author who couldn’t show any level of remorse or regret for ruining his life and gives a halfhearted apology with no ownership of her error. She apologized deflecting her mistake to the justice system but no sweetie you did this you did this to him you didn’t even own up to it. Don’t give this woman anymore of your money until she starts paying this man back for the years of damage she did to him

2. One of the best books I’ve ever read - This riveting story of a girl who was killed and how she sees things after she’s gone is just so captivating. It’s so hard to put this book down. There’s no lack of reality hitting you. Surprising actions, words, and tension just makes you want to keep reading. Highly recommended.

3. Love this book - I got this book in Chinese edition as a gift from my ex-boyfriend when I was about . I love this book so much. The first chapter about how she died was a little scary for me, but the rest of the book was really a touching story. I laugh and cry for this book and I'm buying an English edition to read it again.

4. VERY GOOD BOOK - I saw the movie and thought it was pretty good so I got the book. And tbh, the book is amazing. The writer did a phenomenal job writing it. The characters will really touch you. And although it is quite a sad story, it somehow has a spark of happiness in it. Defiantly one of my favorite books of all time. Highly recommend!

5. Well-written, Remains superior to the film adaptation! - And I thought the movie was good. This book has great complexity and the author does very well in developing many characters in the story. I can never watch the film again and see the characters in the same way, with the information that I know have of them from the novel. Lesson: Read the book, before you watch the movie. They take out a lot of stuff that makes the book, the book.

6. Very good - The thing that stood out in this book for me is the author's way of explaining the family's emotions and feelings after the tragedy. This to me was the most interesting part and had me teary-eyed, however towards the middle it starts to slow down a bit much. Overall a good book, and if you like to get emotional this one's for you.

7. Decent read - I was actually a bit disappointed with the book. I had heard many good things about it but frankly I found it to be a bit boring and in a way it seemed to be sort of monotone in its narrative. It was overall an interesting read, but I didn't find it to be worth the $. I paid on the iTunes bookstore.

8. One of the best books I've ever read - I am eleven years old in the sixth grade. I've always been the kind of girl that absolutely adored reading. However, when I entered the sixth grade, my taste changed. It was difficult for me to find books that appealed to me in my school library. Usually, I only read when I was forced to by a teacher. That said, one day my best friend walked into our language class with a book called "The Lovey Bones." I immediately remembered a time when I was eight years old. Me and my eldest sister watched the movie based on the book. I told my friend this, and told her that it was an excellent book. About a week later, she completed the novel. She was astounded; and insisted that I read it as well. I started reading it that same day. I was just as amazed as she was. Just ending the first chapter gave me chills. The exquisite detail and amazing story line already beginning with a mystery..it was great. Another week or so later I finished the book, too. I was amazed. I remembered loving the movie so much I was expecting that it would be better than the book itself. I've never been more wrong! This book was so much better than the movie, in my opinion. Now, me and my friend have passed it on to another classmate. They're on the second chapter now, I believe. She is dumbfounded, just as we were. Being the kind of picky person I am, it was truly amazing that I found this book so magnificent. I highly recommend kids, teens, and adults of any age to read this amazing book. I assure you- you will not retreat it.

9. Great! - After reading reviews I was very unsure about the book, however, a member of my book club picked it and I had no choice. The beginning was not near as morbid as a lot of reviews made it out to be and I felt the end fit the story well. I myself lost my best friend at a young age and the ending gave me comfort. If your looking for a book about Heaven and God this is not your book! The beginning is very sad so go ahead and buy some tissues. The struggle the family has dealing with the loss I felt was very true to life. This is a great story with an ending you will never see coming!

10. Beautiful, Addicting & Heartbreaking! - I had seen the movie and heard about the book a million times, but couldn't believe how good the book is once i started reading it! The movie, while it was good, does not do it justice. This book was so heartbreaking, interesting, visually stunning and compelling. I would happily recommend it to anyone looking for a read!

11. This book had me hooked - Once I started reading I could not put it down. On some parts I was a little scared but still had to keep reading. This family could've been anybody's family it hits so close to home and makes you reconsider how much actually trust your neighbors. The book is very detailed. It makes me feel like I was there and I was a part of this family. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone.

1. Cute Heartfelt Christmas Short - Verity was looking forward to a great evening with Ellis at his Uncles estate for Christmas Eve that is if she can let her pride go, and just enjoy the night. Virginia is still up to her toxic tricks. She literally delivers the last straw that finally breaks Verity, and has her vowing not to darken the same Christmas Eve party as Elli's Mother Virginia..... Can the help from some ghosts including Franky, and some cute baby bear in need help Verity realize her mistakes. This was a cute quick reminder that Christmas is about more than just presents and soooo much better when celebrated with family. Even if that family includes people who don't always support us! Sometimes we may want to cut the difficult family out of our lives but those are the ones who need our love all the more! I really enjoyed this quick short Christmas story. It was nice to have Verity focusing on her relationships and the ghosts stories not taking the prominent focus. Here's to Verity drowning Virginia with the kindness she needs in future stories! I received this book for review purposes but this in no way effects my review.

2. I have never gone wrong with an Angie Fox book. - I have never gone wrong with an Angie Fox book. This is a short Christmas story and is essentially a modern retelling of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol as only Angie Fox can do with her ghost hunting heroine Verity. Virginia and Verity are still at it, and Ellis and the rest of the Wydells are all caught in the middle. Verity finally stands up to Virginia, after an extremely outrageous encounter, and refuses to go to the Wydell family Christmas Eve party. She essentially wants Ellis to choose her over his family. After Ellis leaves Verity learns the hard way what hatred in your heart can do to your soul. This is was a great quick read. I love Christmas stories, especially when there is a happy or at least an acceptable ending.

3. Ghosts at Christmas - A modernized portrayal of the Dickens’ classic gone sideways. This novella details the importance of Verity to the wellbeing of Ellis and his family through a series of ghostly visions. A fine balance exists between the happiness of individuals and the group. Verity gains knowledge thru her interactions with the ghosts. Frankie provides a much needed balance of character to the novella as the reader sees a more mature development with the addition of a steady girlfriend ghost. This Christmas novella depicts past, present, and future scenes linked to Verity and her character. The lightness of the writing style and vibrancy of the characters make the scenes jump off the page as the reader rushes to see how the plot twists resolve. This is definitely a novella to read while relaxing when wanting a break from the everyday. I received an ARC for review. I would highly recommend this novella.

4. Perfect Break during Busy Holidays - A Christmas Carol goes ghost hunting with Verity Long and her eclectic cast of regulars, and its shorter length is just right for a rest from the hustling bustling season. The Ghost of Christmas Past, book . in the Southern Ghost Hunter series, opens with Verity preparing for holiday festivities with boyfriend Ellis’ family. The problem is, that includes his pretentious mother, Virginia, who never misses an opportunity to embarrass, demean and cause trouble for her son’s girlfriend. When a perceived thoughtful gesture turns out to be an expensive jab, Verity has finally had enough and tells Virginia off in no uncertain terms, prompting a series of events straight out of a beloved Dickens’ novel.
With Frankie, Ellis, and Verity’s pet skunk, Lucy, on hand, this is a poignant tale about how life and choices affect everyone around you in ways you never even consider, reflecting the lessons of the original seasonal staple. Fox’s writing is on point, as usual, and if you love stories with descriptive details as I do, this will not disappoint. Lucy features prominently in this installment, and we get a softer side of the usually grumpy gangster, Frankie, both of which make it particularly enjoyable.
This is a quick read, just right for relaxing, recouping, and clearing your head during this time of year. I love holiday themed entertainment, music, movies, television shows, and books. They help me to get in the spirit of the season and provide a way to enjoy a little ‘me’ time. If that sounds like you, grab a copy of this latest work in the series, a hot beverage, a warm, cozy throw, curl up for a couple of hours and escape with Verity and company in a lovely Christmas novelette that will put you in just the right frame of mind to tackle the busy holidays.

5. Ghost of Christmas Past by Angie Fox - The Ghost of Christmas Past by Angie Fox A retelling from the Charles Dickens tale, this time with a crotchety Southern woman, a cute domesticated skunk and a sleeping momma bear with her three cubs. Ghosts included. Sentimental and sappy and a message of being happy. Spread joy. It will make everyone respond.
Book . of the Southern Ghost Hunter Mysteries. Can be read as a standalone. Loved it.

6. New Version - Such an excellent version of a traditional Christmas story! I would give this more than five stars! You have Verity , Ellis, Virginia, Wydells family and a few ghosts. You must not forget Lucy because her beginnings with Verity ties in with one of the ghosts. The impact one person can have on many should never be forgotten. She was there at the cider mill to save some bears and to learn how families used to be and how they could be with her help. Verity has a chance to save some bears and change the future of the family of the man she loves. I loved the original Christmas Carol but I like this version even better!
2019-11-29
7. A great addition to this series! - The Ghost of Christmas Past is a great story and a wonderful addition to the series. Verity and Ellis are planning to spend Christmas Eve with the Wydells. While things don't go as planned we get to learn more about Lucy and how she came to live with Verity. Frankie and Verity also have quite an adventure trying to save a family of bears. I loved Frankie's interaction with the cubs. We also get to see how the Wydell family celebrate Christmas. It is a good rewrite of A Christmas Carol. I would love to see the location this story takes place in be restored in a future story. The only issue I really had with this story was Ellis. I really wish Ellis would have done a better job standing up for Verity to his mother. That portion of the story disappointed me. Overall the book is a great addition to the series and I think anyone would find this an enjoyable read.

8. A wonderful Christmas gift for yourself - Angie Fox has given us another excellent read in Ghost of Christmas Past. Of course, it’s about Verity, who sees ghosts and has become a ghost hunter. She helps both the living and the dead in very interesting and suspenseful situations. This surprising and exciting twist on A Christmas Carol is another winner. For fans of Lucy, the skunk, this one really is a great Christmas gift as we get to see how Lucy came to be Verity’s sweet buddy. We also see a different side to Frankie, Verity’s ghost sidekick, and Ellis, her boyfriend. Her somewhat nemesis and Ellis’s mother, Virginia, also plays a very important part in this story. Angie pulls it all together to make a story that’s surprising at every turn. The Southern Ghost Hunter series just keeps getting better.
2019-11-29
9. A spirited Christmas tale! - The Ghost of Christmas Past by Angie Fox is a “between the books” holiday story. It can be read as a standalone, but The Southern Ghost Hunter Mysteries are an entertaining series of books that are not to be missed. I was instantly drawn into The Ghost of Christmas Past with Verity, Frankie, Lucy and Ellis. I like Angie Fox’s engaging writing style which makes for a pleasant to read story. The book has delightful characters (except for Virginia) with my favorite being Frankie the German. He is a ghost that was a gangster in the s. I just love his snarky dialogue and he finds some new friends in this story that allows us to see Frankie’s softer side. Virginia is my least favorite character who decides to humiliate Verity once again. This is a humorous retelling of Charles Dickens classic tale. The Ghost of Christmas Past is a magical tale with surprising spirits, a grating gift, alarming animals, lopsided lights, a gangster ghost and one painful party.

1. Overall - This story was a good reading to enjoy. The beginning starts off slow, but the middle and end is what starts to get interesting for Danielle and her friends. 1. What a great book - I am an avid reader and have started quite a few books of late that I couldn't finish. Usually don't even finish the free samples. That being said, I loved this book. It had a terrific mystery that there was no guessing, likeable characters, ghosts and a good plot to tie it all together. No unnecessary page after page of descriptions (my unfavorite). It kept me engaged the whole time. If you spend the $. to read it and don't enjoy it, look me up and I'll give you five bucks

2. the house on tradd street - Spotted this book out of the corner of my eye just by the picture on the dust cover.
This was a one-sit read or maybe I just couldn't put it down. As I was nearing the end I began reading slower and slower. I didn't want it to end! I should tell you that I'm a lover of Charleston and it's history, so it was great to revisit a city I haven't been to in a very long time and the way this book reads I feel as though I've just been on a short vacation there and maybe even learned a little more about this charming place. Miss Karen White, thank you so much!

3. The house on Tradd street - If you are someone who loves Charleston and the south this book will take you there for the weekend! We will never be Charlestonians! I dream of walks on Charlestons streets and what lies behind the fences.... this is a peek inside the house on Tradd street and all of its secrets. Is it predictable? A little, yes. ...but not totally predictable! an easy read and fun characters --a perfect January getaway on a snowy Midwest day.

4. Excellent!! - I was hooked from the first page! The author writes so wonderfully that the characters just jump off the pages - along with the way she describes all the rich history of the house and years of family members that have been there. I found myself turning each page to unravel the secrets along with the characters - a must read! I didn't even hesitate to buy the other two books "The Girl on Teague Street" and "The Strangers on Montague Street"!!

1. Overall - This installment was a good book, but wasn’t as thrilling as the past installments. 1. Will Grandma Survive to see another Halloween. - I was so excited to read another Biker Witch story. This is a very fast read. But full of laughs and suspense. It's Halloween and the vail between us and the spirt world is at its thinnest. Grandma asks Lizzy to come to a Halloween party. This makes Lizzy suspicious because Grandma doesn't have parties she gets into mischief but a party? Fearing Grandma is up to something she agrees to attend. When she reaches the address she was given she can't believe her eyes, this can't be right she thinks. But it is and Grandma explains that she is trying to bring positive energy back into this place. After a bit Grandma isn't looking so good and goes to rest for a bit. Lizzy is understandably worried, her Gram is quite old. Liz goes to get their group healer but when she returns she can't find Grandma. As usual, in an Angie Fox novel things can take a dramatic change with the turning of the page. When Lizzie does find Grandma she worries that her skills may not be enough. Be sure to grab your copy and read it on a creepy spooky night.

2. A great short, quick read in the Demon Slayer series! - I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review. I don't normally care for novellas since they tend to feel like you're reading an entirely different series, but the Demon Slayer novellas seem to hold true to the series. I really enjoyed this short, quick read, but it just didn't have a lot of spunk like the other novellas in this series seemed to have. The resolution was reached pretty quickly, with not as much humor as I would have liked to see from the biker witches, but all in all I came away happy that I had read it.

1. Pretty good read - Not anything profound or ground breaking. Nice easy read. Imagery was good, I was legitimately creeped out a few times. Definitely reminds me of King in a good way. Author seems overly focused on the characters weight. Like, I get it…this guy is super fat and that girl is super hot. Move on.

2. Why aren’t more people talking about this book? - The Haunting of Hill House The Shining The Last Broadcast Justin Wainwright has been blessed with a filthy rich dad. He is able to start up a passion project, a website meant to bring new fans to the horror genre. He comes up with a sure fire way to make his project the next big thing. He invites the four most influential horror authors for an interview to be live-streamed Halloween night. However, there’s a fifth star, and the biggest. Kill Creek. It’s a house that urban legends are made of. I ADORED this book! I got off gabbyreads’ rec. but she’s right. WHY don’t more people talk about this book? This reminds me of the horror I grew up with: classic King, Shirley Jackson, Edgar Allen Poe. Where the scares come not from the gore, but what is unseen and has to be guessed. There is plenty of blood and guts to go with the psychological scares, don’t worry!! Thomas did a masterful job in character building. Each character, primary, secondary, and even the ones we never meet, are completely fleshed out. I didn’t want this book to end!! Buy this for yourself or someone who wants classic horror. Or, if you’re twisted, get it for a budding author.

1. Entertains and yet can be frustrating - I suppose it is meant to be charming with the protagonist Mellie as being both uptight and clueless at times at middle age, but it becomes old and annoying. You want to root for her but give the reader a break on her character flaws. This writer has a tendency to use about every adjective to describe a scene, but when it came down to describe Mellie’s th. Birthday partydress the only thing she could say was plunging neckline. No color even? I love the storyline of her seeing ghosts but maybe start taking this character off narrating and be part of the story. I give it a three star.

1. Optical De-lusions in Deadwood - Started with book because of the price. Will continue to read the series because they're just too damned good not to. Hilarious with mystery, snarkyness, romance and just to die for. If you have some free time curl up on a hammock or your favorite place and lose yourself in the Black Hills. You won't regret it.
