1. Meet the iPad - I found this book very helpful. This is my first iPad and it contained many useful tips and information that greatly expanded my ability to use the iPad. There's one thing I came across that I think could nicely be added to this book; that is how to create folders for apps on the home screen. Using the folders to organize the apps is another very helpful feature. I think this is a great book.

2. Worth the money - This guide for the new iPad is extremely helpful and well worth the minimal cost. I've had Apple computers before but not the iPad, so there were lots of little things I wasn't sure how to do. The guide is full of tips and shortcuts. I like learning all the quick steps to making the iPad do just what I want it to. This guide will get you around the iPad in the fastest way possible. Save time and have fun learning how,

3. lame - I wanted a basic operation book for my new iPad. But even as a never-used-one-before user, I knew nearly all the information contained in this book. Save your money, spend ten minutes surfing around your new iPad and you will be as familiar with it and how it operates as you would have been spending three times as much time reading this lame book and still be two bucks richer.

4. Thorough! - I am new to the iPad, and was amazed by all the things tha I knew it could do, but wasn't aware how to do them. I have used macs forever, as well as iPods. Many things were still pretty intuitive, but I downloaded this book right away and got a very detailed explanation on a lot of things. I feel much more confident moving forward. For me, well worth the $. Thanks a lot!

1. If you're looking for more depth... - This ebook is essentially the first chapter of the longer book, "The iPad Pocket Guide," which is also available at the iBookstore. Peachpit Press and I put this together to have a book ready on the day the iPad shipped. This title covers a lot of basics, but if you're looking for more, find the larger ebook. Thanks! - Jeff Carlson

1. Not worth the $$ yet. - The first problem is that the navigation is not intuitive. The major issue, however, is that something as basic as "How Do I Save As?" is not covered. I am cropping several photos out of a page (think high school yearbook). When I crop a photo out, how do I save this? I went to export what I thought I had edited only to find the original, uncropped version of the photo was exported. ??? If the book is updated, to include some typos, then it might be worth another look. Lesson learned: Download a sample version of a book first.
2013-11-15
2. Very Poor Navigation - Nothing in here you won't learn from the ToolTips in the App. Also, the navigation in the app is very poor, it's never clear how many pages into a section you are, and once you're at page / for example, you have to swipe all the way back to / to get out of that module. Needs work..
2012-06-01
3. Just rehashing the tooltips - Expected a lot more than just saying what the tooltips do. From a long time Photoshop user I wanted details on editing beyond the basics. Can I saturate just yellow? What does preserve skin tones do? If you already know about photo editing then this book won't help you. If you don't know the basics about photo editing then this won't help you much either. The navigation in this book is terrible. A lot of places say "tap almost anywhere to navigate". The problem is you can tap a lot of places and it does nothing, even places that seem obvious. stars because the author seems enthusiastic but the book is really lacking.

1. Great tips. Missing images in iPad version - There were a lot of good tips for the beginner in this book. Good, specific advice about brands to buy or avoid in cameras, software, and accessories. The iPad book version referenced a lot of photos that were not present. I expected a lot more visual examples but this version surprisingly only had or photos in it.

2. Great book for DSLR owners - PROS: Great information for new dslr owners or people just getting into photography. I would have spent an eternity finding all this info on a thousand sites online and probably wouldn't have understood it still. The writer has a really casual no-nonsense writing style and does a good job of explaining difficult concepts in an easy way. I also liked the quick tips sections. CONS: It's missing some pictures and there are some typos. Also, there isn't a lot of extremely technical information. Definitely worth $. That's the same price as a farting app on the iPad! J/k.

1. Charging for this guide??!! - I am and have always used Apple products. But Apple has some issues. How do you justify offering a new complicated service for music and offer nothing but a guide that I have to buy??? People my age are not so tech savvy. I was at an Apple Store this morning and one of the specialists gave me a great overview of Apple Music. He showed me lots of things I can do. Unfortunately, I have forgotten most of them upon arriving home!!? Come on Apple. Give us a break!

2. Apple has a website just for Apple Music! Do Not Buy! - Apple Music is so easy to use and there is no need for anyone to purchase this guide. Just visit Apple Music website which includes several of guides and videos which show you how to use Apple Music. Don’t spend $. for this guide just spend $. on $. songs.

3. A really helpful guide! - I have been using iTunes for years, have had an iTunes Match subscription since that started, and now have enrolled the Apple Music Family subsciption. I always try to understand how new updates and services work - sometimes great without needing any thinking or work, but often in different ways or with some differences. Serenity’s extensive work and organization to make the latest Apple Music and iTunes world clear, organized, and comprehensible is super valuable to me. And her examples, have already taught me things that I now use that I would have never had enough time to poke around and discover. Finally, I do also recommend as a gift for parents or relatives.

4. Gift it to your dad, aunt , grandpas - Covers the basics of apple music, if you read reviews and download ebooks, its fair to assume you know all of this content, and its not for you. But the idea is to support a writter of a blog you read and enjoy, the only reason i suggest to buy it is to gift it to someone who is novice with technology but you think might enjoy apple music, and needs a reference point to look back on. The comments of the author that it costs the same as a coffee is irellevant, I could donate this dollars instead of buying an ebook and explain it myself to the person.

1. Great Book! - This book not only combines a graphical approach to learning, but also provides clear visualizations in addtion to the concise reading material. I am well versed in Logic and each time I pick up these books, I learn something knew. It also makes for an excellent reference manual. Perfect book for the beginning who wants to begin to master Logic and learn and understand… How It Works!
Highly recommended.

2. Perfect Learning Tool This book has been a great help!! - I'm in the process of switching from DP to Logic and came across these books in the Graphically Enhanced Manuals series. One thing I realized right away are all the graphics and diagrams that you usually don't find in a typical user manual for software apps. I know how a sequencer works, but I had to find out how Logic works differently than the one I'm used to. Those diagrams make it very clear and I'm up and running in no time.
This is the way to learn an app. Highly recommended.

3. Wonderful introductions that make a sophisticated program substantially more accessible - Edgar Rothermich's Logic Pro X books are wonderful introductions that make a sophisticated program substantially more accessible. I am a professional composer and orchestrator, and I have read a LOT of software manuals. Most manuals are designed as references, and to understand them you usually have to be simultaneously using the software. Rothermich's approach, although technical and precise, is based on a conversational style and is focused on understanding instead of step-by-step how-to instructions. It's highly visual, and as a result nothing is left to the imagination. The end result is books you can read through from top to bottom, gaining an understanding of the software BEFORE fiddling with it. I highly recommend Rothermich's books for the beginner and intermediate user. They are so well organized that they could be the textbook for a semester-long course, but so easy to read that you might get through them in a week.

4. Still the best Logic Books - I have many of the books of the “Graphically Enhanced Manuals” series and I have a read of few other (more conventional) books and I must say. These are still the best on the market. No comparison. The interactivity of these Enhanced versions set them even more apart from the rest.

5. Best reference book I've ever seen for LPX - I'm a experienced Logic user that managed to learn Logic through trial & error, the dreaded Logic Manual, and YouTube. Wish I would have had this back when I started. Really like the visual "show and tell" style of this book...and the fact that it updates itself along with Logic is a godsend! In other books whenever Logic updates with new features you'd have to wait and purchase either an updated book if/when it eventually came out, a separate addendum, or do without. The fact that this actually updates for free along with Logic is unbelievable! As far as I know it's the only Logic book that does this. That alone makes it a great buy. The visual style is also much easier to grasp than the technical lingo you'll find in most other books and Logic's own manual. I'd suggest this book for anybody at the beginner to early/mid intermediate level learning Logic. Pro users looking for advanced info (like diving under the hood in the Logic Environment) will find the book to basic for them but the fact that it updates along with Logic could easily make it worth while for even pro users. I can't wait for the advanced volume of this book (Logic Pro X: The Details) to hit iBooks. Really wanna finally start diving under the hood in Logic. Especially the Logic "Environment".

6. Easily the best DAW guide I've read - I was skeptical about this guide because of all the graphics and screen shots (ah, it's just filler), but it's absolutely fantastic. It's easily the best DAW guide I've read. Especially awesome things about it: It's huge - covers a lot of Logic
The level of detail is just right. It goes into enough depth to satisfy my need to know how it works, but not too much detail, which has been moved to the forthcoming follow-up book.
I really like the chair / instrument / player / stand analogy with the tracks and environment objects. I kind of half-understood things in a nebulous manner beforehand, but it all makes a lot of sense now
It's not a point and click tutorial (check out Apple's Pro Training Series book for that), but an explanation about what the different features, settings, and controls _do_. This is a great second book after you've gone through a tutorial and have actually used Logic for a while.
The author isn't a brainwashed fanboy. There are some inconsistencies, rough corners, and general WTFery, and they get called out as possible sticking points when using the software. This book is so good, I'd buy other editions in the series sight-unseen.

7. Amazing - Leveled up my production - When I upgraded to Logic Pro X, I was initially overwhelmed by all the new features, integrated Environment, and other enhancements. I have to say that this book really helped flatten the learning curve of upgrading—after all, the whole point of upgrading any software is to be able to make use of its new features. This book has more than paid for itself in how much better I’ve been able to use my DAW of choice—and how much faster I am at making music. Instabuy.

8. Excellent Visually based Guide to Logic Pro X - This is one of the best, if not the best, visually based guides to using Logic Pro X. The added value of the graphics and multi touch feature to the iBooks version is hard to deny. I also want to add that Edgar is a very helpful member of the Logic Pro Apple Community and so his work on this book reflects his willingness to share his knowledge, providing a great way of learning all the important element of Logic in a manner that most people will find both enjoyable and informative. Highly recommended indeed!

9. The new Gold Standard - for beginners and advanced - I’m using Logic since version and finally made the switch from L of Logic Pro X. Of all the manuals for LPX I checked out, this is by far the best one. The content is explained with such details and effort, it leaves virtually no questions unanswered. Especially the interactivity in this iBook version is unique and not provided by any other book. It speeded up my learning process tremendously. Because I’m familiar with the basic concept of Logic I could focus on the new stuff and brush up on some existing concepts. I completely disagree with another review that this manual is only for beginners. I consider myself quite the advanced user but found lots of information I didn’t know before. I also like the detailed explanations and analogies. Even knowing many concepts this made it even more clear to me. I highly recommend this unique book to beginners and advanced users alike. It is the gold standard for writing manuals and I can't wait for the follow-up book with all the rest of Logic's features.

10. The way a Manual should be - I’m a big fan of the GEM series, using it for my video work. I started to learn Logic a recently and there was no question which book to get. I don’t even know why people would by a plain text-based manual when these graphically enhanced manuals are available.
This is the only manual that describes Logic how it really works. All these diagrams make it so easy to understand even for an app that complex as Logic. I have some friends who are advanced users that I recommended the GEM series and they told me that even they got a lot of new information out of it based on the detailed explanations of the topics.
In a month or two I’m sure I can call myself an advanced Logic user too and I can’t wait for the follow up book for Logic in this GEM series
2014-07-25
11. For Beginners Only - If you can get around in Logic already this is not the book for you. The format is excellent, but the quality of information is at best beginner to intermediate. Full of typos as well. Anytime a subject needs to be covered in depth, It’s pushed off to a book that doesn’t exist yet. Only makes me wary of making another purchase in this series(will the next book defer to the next after that?). Seems more like a carrot on a stick. This was a waste of days reading and $ for me. Non- enlightening.

12. Great, Easy-To-Follow Reference! - Previously, I bought the "Apple Pro Training Series" book (print version) on Logic Pro X. That one is a classroom-in-a-book. Good for teaching specific things, but may leave you wondering exactly what you had just accomplished. "How It Works" is great for reference and as cover says, "Understand, not just learn." The iBooks version is especially nice, due to the added enhancements, including a well done interactive glossary. This book does a great job of explaining the ins and outs of LPX, so it works quite well on its own. Definitely my go-to LPX reference book! It also works well as a companion/extension to David Nahmani's training book!

13. Splendid in every way. - Edgar Rothermich's enhanced eBook on Logic Pro X is, simply, the finest DAW "manual" (though it is far more) I've ever encountered. I've been in the audio production business for over years, and having made the digital transition to DECK II and then Pro Tools, I've seen more than my share of documentation. This is the bomb! Edgar assumes nothing in this first of two books on LPX; he takes the reader through the basics of eBooks, digital audio, and then guns blazing into the heart of Logic Pro X. A look at Mr. Rothermich's credentials will get your attention. He know his stuff like Scotty knows the Enterprise. But guess what - he is also a fine writer, communicator and teacher. His writing is friendly and engaging without being patronizing. You get the medicine AND the sugar, and in a way that will make Logic Pro X seem like home. I've had my share of head-scratching with earlier versions of Logic. After years of Pro Tools, some of this old leopard's spots are kinda persistent. But I expect LPX - HIT to get me not just up to speed, but doing things in Logic I couldn't have dreamed of in Pro Tools. If you've made the investment (a cheeeep $ for a world-class DAW), don't think twice about taking on another $. for this set of keys to that kingdom. You will not be sorry. DingDingMusic offers the book in numerous formats - just append a slash and the word "manuals" to see your choices. But if you're working with an iPad and like the extended eBook format iBooks allows, this is the route to take. Bravo to Edgar for a mighty accomplishment, and don't forget to check out his other GEM books. Bravo, bravo.

14. owner - If you are a first time Logic User…. or especially if you plan to make Logic X your main DAW platform, you need this book. Really, you need all of Edgar’s books. Well written from a long time user, now in these days where software doesn’t come with any real manual other than maybe a pdf file, this book will take you where you need to go. Fire it up on your iPad, or extra monitor as you work. You will be turning to it allot even if you are an experienced user. I’ve been using Logic since back in the days of Emagic.. ,… a long time. And this Ibook version is special too, I have pdf and Ibook versions. You want the ibook. The format is perfect for the presentation of information and quick learning.

15. Great book, but beware advanced users! - I believe the purpose of a rating system is to rate a product for the quality what it is, not what I assumed it was. This claims to be a book that explains how Logic Pro X works, and do so with a different approach to teaching (GEM). It does that and does that very, very well. This is a -star book. However, I made the mistake of buying it thinking I might learn something new from it. I didn't learn anything that I don't already know, as an advanced user of Logic. But the title of the book is How It Works. It's not like the author is trying to convince you it's anything other than a beginner's book, with that title. I discovered in the intro of the book that the author is working on a nd book called "Logic Pro X The Details" which he expects to release first half of . Had I known this, I would have never bought this, and rather just waited for The Details and bought that. If I had one criticism, it would be that you have to pay for this book to find out there's another more advanced book coming out (unless of course you're in the know or you frequent Logic forums with this info). Perhaps the author could put something about this in the description on Itunes. With all that said, for beginner's to Logic, I believe there isn't a better book out there than this one.

16. This is only part one? - I bought this book because it was advertised as a complete resource for Logic Pro X and that its rich graphics were a new concept- the GEM concept. These graphics are just big pictures. Nothing more. The most upsetting thing I discovered was that I now need a second book to learn about the Advanced topics. I was especially interested in the music notation features, but they are not covered in this volume. So much for a complete resource.
2014-02-16
17. What a treasure - My favorite learning experience. Easy to read, very entertaining, rich on graphics and tons of information packed in there. Actually, I have other books from this author and his books are getting better and better. I used Logic on and off since v (plus GarageBand) and I found information in this book that I’ve never new before even basic stuff that was always hidden. Now I know, if you really want to use and understand Logic, this is the book you need, no way around. Nobody else explains it like that. Highly recommend that one.

18. In a league of its own - I never new that learning could be so much fun and engaging until I discovered this book series “GEM”. Manuals should only be available in this interactive textbook style. The apps nowadays are so complex and just reading through a text manual is just too frustrating and tedious. With this interactive book I can read, and every important term is hyperlinked. I click on it and a small overlay window pops up with the explanation (even with graphics, whow). This way, I can start reading anywhere in the book. I can even learn Logic by going through the cross-referenced glossary. Did I mention that it is also “graphically enhanced”? AN amazing piece of work.

19. The Best Way To Learn Logic. - This book is clear, concise, and very thorough. Unlike so many software learning books, it’s a very smooth read. The diagrams make complicated processes seem simple. If you want to understand Logic Pro X, I can’t imagine a better way to learn the ins and outs of the software, and this recommendation includes everyone from beginners to fully professional users (I use Logic for my scoring work). Get it.
2014-01-14
20. Best Logic Book out there - This book is really a “GEM”. I haven’t seen any book where the author puts so much effort in even the smallest detail. I learned so much beyond Logic itself because the author seem to care about the reader/user and explains even non-Logic topics that might be important to understand the Logic topic itself. Especially for me, upgrading from GarageBand, I needed all the help I could get. I’m really impressed. Thanks for such a great book.

21. All the facts! - A most complete look at the Logic .. Using a groundbreaking graphic layout, this book really covers the ins and out of the program like few others. It is a real iBookk too with all the useful features therein. Edgar uses examples from a pop band's point of view to explain the Logic system from the inside out. I enjoyed it, and use it as a reference and highly recommend it to others.

22. Look no further - This is the ultimate Logic guide. I used GarageBand and wanted to upgrade but was always afraid of this flagship app. Having read the other manuals from the Graphically Enhance Manuals series I was confident to manage the task with the help of this book. I was right. It is actually fun to learn this “big” app and I feel empowered to understand and use those great features in Logic Pro X. I moved up to the pro league and so can you.
2014-01-02
23. Fantastic Way to Learn the Apple Pro Apps - I already owned of Edgar's graphically enhanced manuals as PDF's, but wow, his reformatting of the guides in the iBooks format is a surprising improvement on an already terrific way to learn the Apple pro apps. His Logic Pro X manual really helped me to get a quick understanding of the software.
2013-12-30
24. The Band Analogy - now I get it - I like this book series. Have other books from the same author too and learned so much through his graphical style and interesting analogies. Logic has a few “unique" features that are a little bit hard to understand. With his explanations I finally get it. Especially the Band Analogy is great to explain how Logic works - genius.
2013-12-27
25. Excellent Study of Logic Pro X - I have been using Logic since Vs. . And while this book is a bit geared towards beginners, there is still plenty for more advanced users. There are things I learned in this book that I either forgot or never fully understood - and they way Edgar presents the info is top notch. I really recommend this book for both beginners and Logic Users who want to refresh their Logic Pro knowledge.

26. What a book - unbelievable - I used GarageBand before and was a little hesitant to move up to the big league with Logic. Knowing the Graphically Enhanced Manuals and being familiar with the Garagebna app, I took the plunge. Wow, this book makes things so much easier to understand even the more challenging topics. I especially love the interactive Glossary. He put even graphics in those, unbelievable. Don’t think twice, this is the book if you use Logic or thinking about using Logic.

1. thin, gray font used - hard to read - Font used is very thin and font color is gray (not black) making it hard to read. I was surprised that ".ibooks" format does not allow either changing the font size (like .ePub) or zooming the text (like .pdf). this this is my first ".ibooks" digital book, so I will avoid them in the future. iTunes description says "Enhanced .. includes video and other interactive materials" Maybe these "Enhancements" are why Macworld does not provide this in other formats??? the "enhancements" are not much use if the book causes eye strain to read.

1. Brilliant, Clear, and Memorable - I've read Edgar's manuals on Final Cut Pro X (How it Works, and the Details), and Compressor, (Twice) and purchased the one for Motion. Put simply, they are brilliant. They are far and away the best manuals I have ever seen. They take complex concepts and make them visual, clear, and memorable. I attempted to read other books, and just couldn't get through them, I read his manuals and it all suddenly became clear. My level was advanced beginner when I approached his manuals, and now I feel I am strong intermediate. The clarity of his thinking, the beauty of his presentation, and intelligence, combined with his ability to sift through the complexity of these concepts to present what is the essence of the topic is unmatched in my experience. Being a computer professional myself for the past years, who has received high praise for my own documentation, I feel qualified to say he is the best I have ever seen. You will quickly master the basics and beyond with these manuals. Sincere gratitude to him.

2. My kinda manual, thanks - This is exactly how I like to learn, make it graphical. The author is right, a picture says a thousand words. The usual books from big publishers don't provide that, maybe it is too much work. I guess if you have a good author who knows the material, he can write a book in a short time but all those graphics in this manual must take a long time to create. They really help. Now I have the feeling that I understand the application. I wished both FCPX books were combined in one volume. That's the only critic and star deduction. Other than that a fantastic manual and I can highly recommended it.

3. Why isn't Apple releasing such a book - This is how a manual should be written. Highly visual, explaining all the concepts - you are ready to use the app. With the $$$ in Apple's bank, they should higher the author Edgar Rothermich to do their manuals so their user can utilize their great products to their full potential. I bought the pdf version of this book first but upgraded to the iPad version of the eBook (unfortunately there is no upgrade path, had to buy it again). However, I didn't regret it. The interactivity makes even more sense and with the glossary I can go through the terms very quickly, almost like a second book. If you want to know how FCPX works, this books explains it.

4. Exactly what I needed - Very impressive what this author is doing with manuals. I have the Motion and Compressor book from him and love the graphically approach how to explain things. Although I'm quite familiar with FCPX already, I got the two books too to deepen my understanding. It is amazing how more information I got out of this book. There is some context and concepts that are not even found let alone explained in the official Apple training books. And the interactive multi-touch format is really the way to go for this kind of manuals. Other publishers should make notice

5. Highly recommended - I used iMovie for my home movies and wanted to try Final Cut Pro X to use all those great features. I had the GarageBand manuals form the same author and saw the he also wrote a manual for Final Cut Pro X.
Although I was afraid that the app might be a little bit too much for me, with this book it turned out very easy. Everything is explained in a way that clear understood. I will definitely by the second part too.
Thanks for such a great manual

6. This is the media version to get! - I first got the PDF version. Great, super-clear writing style, but it looked a bit "flat," and clunky to read on an iPad. Bought the printed version, pricey but nice. For this update, I decided to try the iBooks version after hearing it was "special" somehow. Holy smoke, it was! This impressed me enough that I want to create a few "books" like these myself (in a completely different field). For visual people who want to learn FCP X and Motion, I don't think there's a better way than this series of iBooks. Just put your iPad next to your Mac and refer back and forth between them. It doesn't get clearer than this! The new iBook format looks fantastic, I had no idea. When was the last time Apple hid their light under a bushel? :O) Best kept secret...

1. Best Book Out There - I left already a great review for the other two books I have from this book series. I really enjoy learning again and discover every little detail of the GarageBand app. I never really understood that whole iCloud and iTunes File Sharing thing, but now with the right diagram, it finally made sense. Thanks for opening my eyes.

2. Love it too - Wrote already a review about the other GarageBand book from the same author. Love this one too. The author really knows how to present the material and explain it with all those diagrams. Great and unique concept. If you think you know everything about GarageBand, after reading these books then you sure will.

3. Great GEM book - I bought the Compressor book from the same author and saw that he also wrote a manual for GarageBand for iPad. I use Logic but wanted to play around with the GarageBand version on the iPad. I almost would give it a lower rating because of the price. I though the book costs almost more than the app itself. However, with all the content and nice graphics (must cost a lot of time) I have to admit that it is actually cheap for the value of the book.
Too bad this author hasn't written a book for Logic.

4. A must read - I also wrote a review for the other GarageBand book from the same author. I cannot recommend his books enough. Really - the gold standard in writing manuals All the diagrams and illustrated screenshots makes it so much easier to understand. A very rewarding experience because you have the feeling that you understand you are reading. Five thumbs up !

5. Definitely out of - I was already raving about the other GarageBand book from the same author "GarageBand - How it Works" His style of writing manuals is truly amazing. Very clear, simple and with the necessary background to understand the features and workflows. And all those graphics and diagrams, I haven't seen in any other manual from any publisher. Must take a lot of time and effort (maybe that's why nobody else is doing it this way). For everybody who's using the app, this is the way write (and read) a manual - Excellent

1. This is terrible. - I just downloaded this book, and now iBook says it cannot open the book because it is formatted incorrectly. Really? Charge $. plus for something that cannot even be read? I am aware that the sample file did open and it did display pages two at a time, but the full book is actually totally unusable.

2. Absolutely download the sample first! - I bought this ebook without viewing the sample. Big mistake! While it is written in typical Scott Kelby fashion, it is formatted completely different from his Lightroom ebook, or any of his other books. It comes up in two facing pages on a single screen, in either portrait or landscape, depending on how you hold the iPad, but the print is too small to read in portrait. So, you say, simply rotate to landscape and motor on? Not so fast. It still presents in two-page format and is still too small to read comfortably. So you then have to "pinch" to expand it and it pops into single-page format, but you have to keep the iPad in landscape mode to be able to read it comfortably. And when you tap to change pages, it does a weird flip-flop that will drive you nuts eventually. I like most of Scott Kelby's books, but not this one. Wish I could return it.

1. Only viewable in landscape - terrible now - Book has been in my iBooks library since last year, working nicely in portrait mode. Now it can only be read in landscape with all my edits/underlining lost. This is terrible!!!!! Wary of buying any other Kelby books for fear of this happening down the road. Please fix. Can't recommend at all in the present form. Zero stars!!

2. PDF? - I previously purchased the version book by the same author. Excellent book, and I highly recommend this series of books. Easy to read and understand and super helpful. HOWEVER, DON'T BUY THIS BOOK! For some unknown reason this book is actually formatted as a PDF file and not an iBook. This makes it highly unusable on your iPad. The last version was not like this. What gives? HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED.

3. ticked at the ibook version - haven't even gotten to the content….but i feel like i wasted my money since i cannot view it on my macbook pro. So music, tv shows, movies, podcasts…all are viewable on all apple devices but not a book? Sorry Scott…i love your books…but this ibook version has me feeling ripped off. additionally, I'm a NAPP member but did not see a digital version on the Kelby training website…that's why i ended up buying the ibook version.

4. Is this just a PDF? - I purchased this book to replace a version on the kindle. The format of the kindle version stunk, and the iBooks version seems true to the paper version. However, I suspect this is just a PDF. I cannot add highlights to the book. I only get the options to copy, define, or search, just like a PDF.

1. Outstanding resource for Articulators - I think that this book should be considered a "must own" for anyone serious about learning how to articulate a D character's face. This book goes into extreme details not so much on the tools but on the concepts, or theory, around how to move points in a CG face properly. I can't stress enough how eye opening this resource will be for students of this craft. If you want to create a D character and animate it, you NEED this book.

1. Love it - I got both GarageBand books from this author and they are great. I have the feeling that I know everything there is for GarageBand and even better that I understand it all.
These are real jewels of manuals. I like the graphics and the interactivity. So much better than an old fashioned book with pure text and an occasional screenshot. Really a pure GEM.

2. Excellent !!! - This is the best manual I've seen and I have a few! Explains everything in detail so even the absolute beginner will know how everything works. Even the advanced user will get quite some milage out of it. I also have the book for the GarageBand iPad app and it is as good as this one. Excellent explanations and many many graphics showing how things work.

3. Best GarageBand Manual - This is the best manual for GarageBand that I have seen. It covers really everything. Super easy to read with tons of graphics that makes the material very clear. There is even some recording background information to explain where some terminology and workflows are coming from.
I also got the other GarageBand manual from the same author "GarageBand for iPad - How it Works", same style, lots of easy to understand illustrations. Highly recommended!
