1. Good - I think the book is good so far. Little political, clearly he doesn’t like trump or Fox News. This book isn’t about trump or Fox News. That annoyed me. But I’m going to finish the book. All in all, many great points. He really knows what he is talking about. I’m down to delete my social media

2. Ten Wonderfully Argued Points - This only book touches the surface as to why social media has been harmful and dangerous to our society. Critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively debate certain issues has been diminished because of social media among other things. Social media has turned us into categories, into subjects that are being studied and are stored for advertisers personal gain. We are no longer human beings with ability to think for ourselves.

3. Great ideas clouded with political talk - What a “BUMMER.” Jaron Lanier’s intentions seem to teeter between wanting to offer philosophical glimpses into the relationship between people and social media, and wanting to push his own political views; I’m not even convinced that he knows where (or if) he’s drawing the distinction. Ten Arguments seems to be just another intelligent person ranting about interesting things but unfortunately from a politically-charged perspective. The book contains great ideas, but they are unfortunately overshadowed by the obvious political leanings (which, by the way, are ones with which I agree; I just think any good argument doesn’t need to rely on pushing political buttons to make its points).

1. Interesting, gripping, and a fun read - I bought this book last year and have recently re-read the book. I loved it maybe even more the second time. You really pick up on things that you may have overlooked the first time around. This book is wonderfully written. You don't have to be a computer nerd to understand what Parmy Olson is talking about. She does a great job of breaking it down in layman terms. You quickly understand that this group has probably affected you or someone you know. It changed my perspective on the collective. It becomes a page turner and hard to put down. The research that was put into making this book is mind blowing. I would and have recommended this book to anyone. Again you don't have to be a computer nerd to like it, just a simple curiosity into the subject and you will be pages deep before you know it. We have all heard of the group Anonymous and this is a great book to deepen your understanding of the group. Go ahead and buy the book, you won't regret it.

2. Entertaining, informative, fun, fast - Excellent book on the subject. if you are remotely interested buy and read. A nice feature is punchy but thorough individual character stories of both victims and perpetrators of the attacks. Also provides insight into the players with their varied backgrounds mostly bright loners, male, mistreated as teenagers and looking for laughs and some social justice. Highly recommended.

1. Scarey Stuff - Kevin opens your eyes to the almost total lack of privacy we have today. Well maybe not ALMOST. Total invisibility is probably not necessary for most of us but, more privacy and on-line security probably is. I think this book is almost a reference manual for helping make our on-line lives more secure.

1. Over promise, under deliver - Long story short, I was expecting more out of a $. book. It's clear that the author is passionate about web design and how HTML is going to introduce game-changing features to the web, and for that I appreciate and agree with him. Felt more like reading a blog series than an actual book on HTML.

2. Some pretty cool things to learn here! - It's really good to know the history of HTML. It makes the whole concept easier to understand. However, I'm a complete beginner for the most part now, the parts where it started using other code like JavaScript were really confusing and took away from my experience. If they plan to use JavaScript in their book series they should place it before putting it in other books.

3. A good primer - This book is a good primer, but it's not much more than an explanatory intro to HTML. It conveys the basics about what HTML is and why, but doesn't go into much detail beyond that. If you'd like to pick up the basics then this book is definitely for you, but if you're looking for more full featured ins and outs of how to use HTML in your pages you should probably look elsewhere.

4. Perfect for designers, enthusiasts, clients, and bosses. - Keith delivers an excellent synopsis of HTML in a jovial manner that's simple to grasp. The perfect length for learning about the future of the web in a single evening. Read this book before buying a larger technical manual and while you're at it, buy a copy for your clients and bosses. I'm really impressed with A Book Apart's first publication and I can't wait for it's follow up.

5. Get it! - I preordered the book as soon as I heard about it. If you make websites or just need to understand what is coming in the HTML "new world order," you should consider this book essential. It delivers on its promise to quickly (and wittily) cover the subject material at exactly the right depth.

1. Good, But There’s Definitely Room For Improvement - The book is clearly designed well, and the included interactive widgets are great for illustrating how CSS transforms are applied both in code and visually. Well done! The biggest problem I had with this book, though, was the writing. While Vicki might be well-versed in CSS and Safari technologies, she could really use an editor. The text was clumsy and passive in many places, and that could be cleaned up with little effort. Also, the video included in the book lacked a narrative voiceover. Once the video is open and in a different view, there’s no way to connect what’s going on in the video with the surrounding content. If you’re looking for something that covers the very basics of CSS transforms, this book will be of use, but if you’re looking for something that’s more in-depth or advanced, this book won’t serve you well. (That said, there’s room for improvement to take this from a three- to a five-star book, IMHO.)

2. Insanely Great! - I expected this to be a great book considering its author’s experience and love for web technologies, but my expectations were greatly exceeded. It’s beautiful, well written and full of great tips, but it’s also an amazing interactive demo of not just CSS transforms, but of what ebook can look/work like too. You should download this book and play with it even if you are not interested in its topic!

3. Solid eBook gold for modern web people - This is an exquisite example of why multitouch and ePub books were invented. Beautiful, clear, comprehensive, interactive and better presented here than in the multitude of places on the web you can go to piece this knowledge together. This is the first next-gen eBook that really trumped other media fir utility for me, in a sense, being in itself a killer app. If you are a web dev or want to be, this dollars is simply essential. Ms. Murley has always been a key resource for us, like an angel at WWDC and in the forums, introducing and clarifying the latest, greatest powers of webkit over and over. She brought the fire and taught us how to cook. This is where she takes that same ball and hits it out of the park. Most of this I already know, but getting to understand it took so long. Even so, in minutes, I still learned new things in this book! Insanely great!

1. Thoroughly enjoyed! - As a new person to this field, I hoped to pick up a wealth of knowledge from this book and I did. My four star rating is because . I hate the price
. I kind of wished it started off from the beginning with some explation, like this is what aperature means. I still got plenty of advice from this book and my pictures vastly improved. Scott Kelby made this funny, and yes, we may enjoy photography but not neccessarily how-to books.
I really recommend this book if you are starting out.

2. Best practical photography books available - The ratings on all of Scott Kelby’s books show just about as many one stars as five stars, with a few people in the middle. The one stars are probably because people don’t understand what Scott’s books are all about. I’ve been shooting for over twenty years, seriously for the last five. I have a shelf full of photography books, but this series from Scott Kelby are the only books that are in my bag (and now in my iPad). I've got them because it's like having Scott in my bag, I can turn to him anytime and ask how he'd shoot this. No matter how good you are, you can always use another opinion. There are two main divisions in photography books, technical and practical. I’m a firm believer that in order to understand how to make photographs you need to know the technical side, which is why anyone who’s serious about photography needs to get “Light, Science and Magic”. But when it comes to practical books, Scott's got the best. He gets right to the point. By the way, he tells you that his are not theoretical books up front in his description. Scott will tell you that when shooting flowers, you should get close, don't shoot down, and use a wide aperture. What he doesn't go into is a lot of the "why" you should do that (he does give you some of the "why" though). NEWBIES to photography will get up and shooting better photographs fast. You'll be able to know how to use your camera to produce the image you want. What you won't get is the scientific side of why things work the way they do. Hopefully this will keep you interested in photography and spur you to learn the technical and artistic sides of it. INTERMEDIATE photographers will have a quick reference to look up when you're just not getting the image you want. EXPERIENCED and Professional photographers, I was going to say that there wasn't much for you, but you might get a new perspective on how to teach photography. At the very least you'll get some quick responses to common questions (e.g. Q: "what lens should I get?" A: "how strong is your marriage?") That's another thing, Scott has a sense of humor. Some reviews say that Scott spends a page lying to you. That's a combination of Scott's sense of humor and him establishing a rapport with you. He's really trying to set a tone of friendship, so you can open your bag up and ask him a question anytime you want.

3. Incredible waste of time - If the sample is any indication of the whole book, you're in for a slow, stingy with information, deceptive read. The sample has pages of which are are filler about the author. Chapter One on page is more fluff-filler that the author later admits is an attempt to deceive the reader.

1. This is the best book I have ever read. Ever. - Ok, I might be a bit bias because I am a designer who has worked full time, freelance, and tried to start his own company (and failed), but, it is a great book that is HIGHLY educational, entertaining, easy to read, and straight forward in a way where tactics are spelled out for you, no having to read between the lines! Where was this book years ago!? As a designer I relate to so many of the scenarios the author writes about I just shake my head and laugh about how dead on he is about so many scenarios. There is some real wisdom in here and some true gems that you don’t have to dig deep to mine. Buy it now, buy it twice to pay this guy what this book is really worth because in the long run his advice is going to make you more money.

2. Applicable to instructional designers - This book was quick and informative. Almost all of it is applicable to my field " instructional design" . My favorite part of the book was the part about the difference between being nice and being enjoyable to work with. I also found the section on feedback really helpful.

3. Bam! - After reading this book, I feel like I've just had a very valuable business lunch with the author. Maybe better, because I am forced to listen instead of doing my share of the talking. This book is not about the design process, but rather the business of design. If you are working in the design industry, you've undoubtedly realized that communication with clients far out weighs how good any actual design output might be. This book provides solid advice and encouragement - along with a swift boot to the rear - on getting your communication skills on par with your design skills. And, it does so with surprising humor and very frank, no BS language. Definitely recommended.

4. Highly recommended - Highly recommended reading for anyone that works in client services. As a front-end web dev who works with designers I still found the advice in this book incredibly applicable to my role. This book isn't about life hacks, tips, or tricks. It's about being an incredible communicator, taking responsibility, and being an adult. I am thinking of buying this for everyone in my office.

1. An informative book, for nerds like me! - Blum breaks down the physical internet for the tech minded and the curious as well. It started out slow, and has some dry moments, but this yarn is quite technical and informative. While reading, I found myself doing things like searching for a used Brocade mlx- on eBay and googling Marietta, the closest "Internet" in my city.

1. Mobile First - Compelling information about why you should consider designing for mobile devices and lots of great usability tips. NOT a development book - virtually no code; lots of great concepts, however. If you are already familiar with designing for mobile, skip this, but if you are interested or just getting started, or want to know more about usability on mobile devices, it's a good read.

2. Mobile First - This brief book is an interesting, witty, lively and very readable treatment (even for this non-techie) of the best approach to today's mobile web design. The outstanding illustrations highlight the author's intent with ease. An absolute must for anyone trying to keep up in the rapidly changing world of mobile applications.

2. an excellent series - This is a great set of books for learning tips and tricks of digital photography. Having it on my iPad means I have it with me wherever I go with my camera since both are always in my backpack. I saw a review of the first book in the set about buying the Kindle version for / price but then you only get / the book. On the iPad you get the full color pictures and illustrations while on a Kindle you only get monochrome text. After all, these are books about photography and the pictures are a big part of the information being presented.

1. Worthwhile Book On Designing With Humans In Mind - Aarron Walter has written a fantastic book on how design psychology influences how we understand, relate and desire software, websites and even everyday objects. It is a concise look at how, when done properly, including humanizing design elements, incorporating certain techniques and craft provide users and customers with a positive emotional experience often referred to as "delight". Walter discuses how Abraham Maslow's hierarchy of needs can be employed to help design user interfaces that create surprise, anticipation, and a feeling of exclusivity. He references a few real world websites including MailChimp (where he is the head user interface designer), Mint and Wufoo. The book is written in a completely accessible manner, even for non-designers, and could just as well be describing how to "design" an actual business which can generate loyal, return customers. A quick read, well worth the time.

1. Good content, badly designed for iPad - Very good and readable overview of web analytics. My one gripe is that there are a lot of graphs in this book which are very lo-res and difficult to read. Basically, it is a offline book that's been poorly transferred to digital form. Strange for a book about the digital world.
