1. Absolute Perfection - Trisha Yearwood has always been a great singer. This album is her best yet. The song “For The Last Time” is one of the best songs I’ve ever heard and have played it now straight times!!! Trisha has such a rich and calming voice. There is no way you can not like this album.

2. Not for amateur listeners - WARNING this review may hurt some feeling This album is pure music, many have bashed this album for not being (insert complaint here) this album is for big band/Fran Sinatra fans. The orchestra is incredible, of course Ms. Yearwood's renditions are pure and unadulterated . Have heard plenty of musicians “make a song their own” and in the process destroy it. I am now hoping she does this entire album live, if she does, my wife and I will do everything imaginable to be front center.

3. Let's Be Frank - Wouldn’t we all like to be.... - Okay - I've listened to all the songs, severa of them repeatedly and even a little tired of Last Time but as someof the reviews stated, and I repeat, no one is Sinatra. To give the Chairman his due, there will never be aother Sinatra. It doesn't matter what genre you come from - or think you come from - if you cover Sinatra, you better have the chops and Ms. Yearwood has them. The arraignments, the orchestration and the vocals are spot on. I'm a country fan and I grew up listening and playing the "big bands" and American songbook - you can't tell what genre Ms Yearwood comes from, which some people have complained about. Who cares? If you can cover the music and do it more than justice, fantastic and Ms Yearwood has done just that. I agree with one comment - leave Over the Rainbow alone, Frank had better and more popular songs in his repertoire. All in all, musically, this is great recording. Would love to hear it on vinyl with the pops and hiss - would really be a trip down memory lane.

4. Not C&W Twang - I purchased this s few weeks back and enjoy it very much. Despite some reviews I found no Country Western tones in fact if you had no idea who Trish Yearwood is a country performer you would think she was a new Diana Krall. Trisha has a strong voice and the background orchestra is first class. The songs are upbeat. If you want to hear a female do an excellent job on the American Song Book I recommend this album.

5. Only one.. - I was looking forward to hearing this album. I didn’t really like the collection of songs. I think Over the Rainbow should be left alone for the next years. So over done! I really love the song One for my baby, and was looking forward to hearing her version, as I have loved her ballad songs in the past. This version is bad IMO. I just think that she could have really made a great torch song out of this but missed the mark completly with it being so over done. The man that got away was ok but not great. It is the only song that I would consider buying. Over all the album is a miss in my book. Sad to say. I love Trisha and appreciate her talent. Just wish she wouldnt have tried so hard on this.

6. Frank would say . . nice try kid - Sorry, but very few of today's singers bring anything fresh or even pleasant to these standards and I wish todays' singers, producers, labels would quit trying. It doesn't work because in almost every case such efforts are technically sound, but emotionally dead. Younger artists lack the emotional range and depth required to bring these heartbreak songs to life in a way the listener can believe speaks to the heart. What's the answer then? Write your own standards or work with composers that inspire you and relate to you on a very deep level in your life now. Sorry, not sorry this effort is mediocre. It's okay Trisha, you're not the first to come up short on these classics.

7. Well Done - I love all kinds of music when it's good, and this pretty great. It's funny when people critize a female that is singing Sinatra music ( I have read a fewreviews that state this) because these songs have been done numerous time by other women. These songs are not just Sinatra songs these are great American classics that should be sung. And since we are losing this style I for one applaud Trisha and others for keeping it alive.

8. Can she or can't she? She can! - They told Trisha she was a washed up country singer whose star had shown its brightest. They told Frank he couldn't sing, couldn't dance, couldn't act, and couldn't survive the likes of Elvis and the British invasion. Wrong on all counts! No, Trisha will never be Frank, but Frank will never be Trisha. A stellar effort and proof that timeless songs can be interpreted by the likes of a "washed up" country singer and shine anew.

9. Let Me Be frank - If you have a voice like Trisha Yearwood and you pay homage to the Chairman Of The Board...why not. This is a beautiful CD and Don Was' production is spot on. I don't understand the criticism of a country singer covering Sinatra. The comparison with Dilion's version is laughable. Do yourself a favor and listen to Trisha's interpretions and just enjoy the voice that she has. By the way, for you country folks, she has a new CD coming out this year.

10. Oh no! - I was so psyched to hear that Trisha came out with a new album and that she was going to be on Kelly n Ryan. Was SO disappointed that she had recorded a tribute to Frank Sinatra. Can’t even bring myself to listen to it even though I LOVE Trisha, her music (have all her previous CDs) and have seen her perform live in San Francisco. I bought the new song...love it. Gave a -star rating without listening because she is Trisha. Forget the cooking, make some good music again PLEASE!

11. That VOICE!! - Some artists just have a voice that is made to sing and using that voice on these gems, without destroying them can be a challange but Trisa Yearwood has that voice in time, she can belt it out with the best of them and be soft and dreamy, she cuts her teeth on many of these classics from bye gone era's, she's tastefully reimagined many, Over the Rainbow for example, we've heard so many do this but it fits so nicely in this context as does her own original. I always thought Tricia Yearwood had one of the best set of pipes in the business, often compared to the likes of Linda Rondstat for sheer power, seen her sing with Bonnie Raitt, its not easy to put that voice in to todays scene of country, good place to cut her teeth back into the music world, get her out of the kitchen tv shows and show off that beautiful voice, welcome back!

12. Let’s be Frank, Trisha Yearwood - Great album, songs that maybe those of you who didn’t experience live Frank Sinatra, can learn from this sentimentality created album by Trisha! She sang the songs with her mother, imagine that not staring at devices, time singing as a Mother/daughter . Trisha, thank you for this magical album

1. Heaven On Earth - It is almost hard to believe that such a sound is being created by a human being. And, this was all before computerized enhancement and the "laying down of tracks". Ms. Cook sang live here, WITH the orchestra behind and around her, a captured moment in time, a collaborative moment captured like lightning in a bottle and made available to us all. Ms. Cook adds to the phenomena of her vocal prowess an astonishingly precise interpretation of her material, of the stories she is telling, the characters she is playing. This was rare in her day, as was the impeccable level of her taste in music and her respect for the lyric. There's never been anyone like her, and she's STILL going strong, her maturing gifts often matched now with, at long last, the perfect partner, Stephen Sondheim. Together, they are proof that this, this earth, is indeed as much heaven as we'll ever see (so we'd better start taking advantage of it). This early recording of the works of a lesser talent than Sondheim's, but still a gloriously gifted man, provides proof, as well, that Ms. Cook always was who she is. She has, not at all simply, perfected her perfection. Pushed herself beyond the best that she could be, which was and remains the best anyone who does what she does can be. She has grown in ways previously unknown. Forged pathways that others (Audra, I'm talking to you) have wisely followed. Always a dramatic actress using her astonishing and hard won technique in support of a very particular character and story, she has, in the years since this tasty recording, become wise almost beyond experience, and lives as an artist entirely in support of a greater truth, a truth she shares both through performance and through master classes. This truth was unavailable to her previously; unavailable until Sondheim. But, listen to her here, always the familiar oddity, always more of an actress than anyone expected, or sometimes WANTED, her to be, with the most lucious, focused soprano ever heard on Broadway. Frankly, ever heard. Using her own body (and this is going to sound terribly odd) and her own facial structure, the structure of her skull, and the peer of her lungs and diaphram, the use of her nasal passages as echo chambers, her brain pan as an amplifier, she produced a sound almost extraterrestrially unlike any other. Where she places her notes, where in her FACE she places her notes, is a marvel of science and biology. Pair that with her intuitive ability, her inherent ability, to make of phrasing a tool with which to build comprehension, making breathing as important, dramatically, as facial expression, as important as the alteration of sound in the expression of joy or anguish or mischievousness, making, as an essential aspect of her genius, the ability to inhabit most entirely a three dimensional world of shamanic truth. But, even merely biologically, she is a wonder because she, more than even Callas, makes of herself, her body, a literal instrument. She "plays" herself, as one would a trumpet or clarinet. Listening to her early recordings is a surprisingly complex but delightful pastime, lifted up and held tight by the sheer unearthliness of her sound, you understand the human condition just ghat much more. Your comprehension had been expanded, your godless soul made almost willing to accept the concept of intelligent design, if only because how ELSE could this woman have possibly happened? So, buy this god damned album and then buy her last three or fourteen recordings, her most recent being the Sondheim Broadway review which ran just last year and for which she contributed the most haunting "Send In The Clowns" and "Not A Day Goes By" as will ever be recorded. I don't know how old she was or how old she is, I know only that she is, she was, and, if we're lucky, she will be. And, we are very lucky.

1. Updated Porter with synth strings. - As with many newer interpretations, these Porter standards have been given a modern treatment like all those pop vocals that end teen movies (or Disney). Which means many of the instruments have been synthesized, like the string section. I think it gives it a cheap sound. My favorite track is titled "Medley" which is the Porter tune "What is This Thing Called Love" coupled with "So in Love." It's also the most unusual of the lot.

1. Pleasant, if a bit restrained... - There's much promise in this voice, but she'd holding something back. Example - in "When I Marry Mr Snow," the delivery is largely rhythmic. Had she sung with more abandon and loosened the tempo, the delivery would have been nearly perfect. The tone of the voice is pleasing. But too much restraint in the emotional delivery gets in the way.

1. Grand Old Songs Made Relevant for Now - Lee Mead has a voice that sounds like he is singing directly to you - and the songs on this album are particularly suited to that intimacy. From the sublimely romantic "All The Things You Are" to the broken recovery of "Feeling Good" and "By Myself", Lee invites you to share and identify with his life experience. This is a Musical Theatre voice that goes beyond the theatrical and makes these beautiful songs relevant once again. Just listen to a sample and you will be enticed to hear more.
