1. Interesting - This album is a blend of styles not always apparent on Stevie's career. I always thought it left some to be desired. I find the production excessively polished, courtesy of Nile Rodgers, to Stevie standards. It sounds like a soul or country album at times. I also think his guitar is more a lot more contained here than anywhere else and that's probably due to his brothers presence. Jimmy may be a great musician but his singing isn't his biggest thing. Half of the songs are good but the other half, although well recorded and played, are strange or lack weight. Definitely, not up to his previous albums, It does however represent Stevie's last stand and a beautiful moment in his career as he reunited with his brother.

2. A good solid set... - Stevie had saidt hat he always wanted to do an album with his brother. This turned out to be both his wish come true and his last studio recording ever. And a great one at that. The brothers sound like....well....brothers. Just having a grand old time with each other.
Small sidenote... The producer of this terrifc disc is none other than Nile Rodgers of Chic fame. And he does it with the most vitailty, reverence, and care that anyone can muster. It's a fun recording and a great Summer disc on top of that.

3. You Know...they're from Oak Cliff Texas, that's in Dallas. Not Austin - One of my pet peeves in hearing Stevie Ray Vaughn's name is that it is always associated with Austin, TX. I love Austin, but like Stevie up until his death I live in Dallas, Tx. Not much of a music scene; nowhere near as cool as Austin. But alas, the man is from Oak Cliff, a very misunderstood part of town; some would say that it is the "other side of the tracks", I think that just means it isn't boring and waspy like north Dallas. Cool shops and people, kinda like Austin yet in Dallas just like where Stevie Ray Vaughn is originally from. The track D/FW is short for Dallas Fort Worth, and if you where to visit said city D/FW is the airport you would fly into. Anyhow this is his last album, it's a good one though I preferr his solo stuff. Just sayin'

4. Texas Blues from Austin's favorite son. - This album was actually produced after SRV's passing in . It's a tribute, or a highlite to each of their styles and their individual roots. Classic E Blues Melodies from Stevie Ray and the subtle, yet elegant Rock N Roll touch of Jimmy Vaughan. Living in Austin Texas myself as a musician, it's hard not to get caught up in the notes of Stevie Rays guitar, then saddened by the fact that he's no longer with us. It makes you appreciate his music and talent even more....The complexity of the guitar work on the "In Step" album, is arguably the best Texas Blues to date...... Thanks for all the love you passed our way brother.

5. Some good songs on a weird album - At first I listened to this album as a Stevie fan, which is probably why I didn't like it. After experiencing a lot more blues, I listened to it again and liked it a lot more. There are some essential SRV songs on this album. Tick Tock, Telephone Song, Hard to Be, Long Way From Home, and the instrumental DFW are highlights. of those just happen to feature Stevie as a writer. Most of the songs Jimmie wrote aren't quite my bag of tea. I'm more into Blues Rock and they seem more country than Bluesey, but you might like them. Other than the songs, there are alot of weird sounds and voices which were kind of hard for me to look past at first they're supposed to be funny or something? The album would probably have gotten stars if not for the track Hillbillies in Outer Space. See if you can listen to Tick Tock without thinking of John Mayer's Waiting on the World to Change. There are a couple tracks where they just jam and it's pretty cool the first couple times. Overall it's a very unique album with a blend of a few very different styles of Blues. Check it out especially if you're a big fan of either Vaughan.

6. Classic SRV - Jimmie and Stevie Ray Vaughn team up to create a classic album of Texas rock and southern blues. Sadly it was the last time they would work together before Stevie's death in . Each track showcases both of their styles which complement each other nearly perfectly, particularly on "Brothers" and "Tick Tock". A must have for any fan of either Stevie or Jimmie.

1. Give Us More ! - John Mayer has proven in this album that he is one of the greatest Blues artists in the world. As an original musician, lyricist, guitarist, vocal technician, and overall performer, he has successfully conveyed his soul and thoughts through his music in the John Mayer Trio. His solo in "Gravity" is particularly subduing, and it made me fall even more in love with the guitar as an aesthetically musical instrument. Well done to Pino Palladino and Steve Jordan for helping produce one of the greatest original albums in Blues history. Bravo.

2. Mayer's Best Live Album - By far John Mayer's best live album. While I like his music, I think this is the "purest" album to date and I think Mayer should stick to a path that emphasises blues over pop. He's a blues musician that masquerades as a pop artist to sell records. If he is true to himself and his roots as a blues/rock and roll musician, then he can better define who he is along with his "sound." As for the album, buy it before you buy any other John Mayer album.

3. Props to JM for giving us a different sound! - I am a pretty die hard Blues fan, and don't mind John Mayer's more poppy stuff. I wouldn't strictly call this blues, more of a blues/rock feel. It has strong leanings towards Stevie Ray Vaughn and maybe even some George Thorogood in parts. Its the raw edge of Mayer, the one I think until this recording was lingering behind the curtain. I have to say I am thoroughly impressed with the emotional delivery, and excellent musicianship. Mayer is in amazing company here, and he stands up to the test. Steve Jordan and Pino Palladino are both grandmasters, and John is clearly honored to be jamming with them. The standouts for me here are 'I Got a Woman' which is an amazingly close Ray Charles impersonation on the vocals from John. It's also interesting to hear Gravity and Vultures before the were released on Continuum. The groove/jam/blues tracks are all great too - excellent music for a party or a cruise down the highway. Worth checking out if you're a Mayer fan. or like a little blues-tinged-rock.

4. Blues? - Amazing album, John Mayer Trio is amazing, but I do agree with others. It really isn't too much of a "blues" album, so I think categorizing it under Pop was a good move on iTunes' part. It could be seen as blues, but it feels to structured for me to be blues. The most bluesy song on here is Out of My Mind, and again, it feels to structured like it's being played straight from a sheet of music. If you want real JMT blues, I recommend Where The Light Is: Live in LA. More track lists, it includes acoustic set, regular JM set, and JMT with most of the songs on this album. I recommend buying Try, Another Kind of Green, I Got A Woman, and Where The Light Is, and you won't regret it.

5. Wow!!! - The opening three tracks on this album are about as good as any three openers on any album I have ever heard. Although this album is not truly "Blues" it is as close as your going to get in this day and age with a relatively new band. John Mayer really surprised me here; however I will not begin comparing him to some of the all time greats when it comes to guitar. In the way of (again, relatively) new artists, he has to be one of (if not) the best. I really love Pino Palladino and Steve Jordan on this album. They are extremely professional and there is not a single screw up on these tracks. Pino is really in his element here, although his bass is turned down in the mix, which is my single complaint about this album. If you read any of my other reviews, you know that emotion is a big thing for me, and let me tell you, John Mayer lets most of it (not all of it) hang out here on the way to recording a great live album. Now...make another (and possibly a studio album)...please? :)

6. A different side of John Mayer - I never really liked John Mayer until I saw him in concert...it doesn't really show up on his studio albums, but he is a really outstanding guitarist. This album really shows that, he lets loose in a way he doesn't in the studio. If you listen to John Mayer because he's got a nice voice and cute lyrics, you might not like this as much. If you appreciate really good live jamming and awesome guitar, buy this album.

7. Music to share with friends and drinks! - I have become more of a John Mayer fan because of his incredible music from his Live performances. I'm glad I bought the whole TRIO album. Also picked up a few of the live tunes from his latest album as well. Check those out. I don't need no doctor is a really good song.

8. Off the wall; spastic - As comedy legend Seth MacFarlane puts it in Family Guy, "That's enough, John Mayer." This album, deviating from his older, better music, breaks with the standard form of music. Unfortunately, when he broke from this form, the music spilled out all over the place. Too much going on all at once makes this album sound incoherent, spastic, and amateur. Nice TRY!, John.

9. finally! another guitarist to idolize....... - john mayer plays expertly on this record. with a smaller ensemble and and arsenal of blues standards, songs off his albums and great new tunes, mayer gets a chance to show off his blues chops in impressive form. a well performed, solid blues record for blues fans and mayer fans alike.

10. What music has been waiting for - Any non believers, this will change your mind about John. I am in year two of owning and loving this album. For those people who don't yet know, Mayer is a guitar beast who incorporates his own flavor into the stylings of S.R.V., Hendrix, Clapton. Not to mention, his originals are frickin awesome. The best part is, you won't even realize the likenesses to other artists because you are so immersed in his music. These songs are so good, and so fresh, its the revolutionary album we've been waiting for. With the musical talent of Pino Palladino and Steve Jordan flanking that of mayer's, you will discover a group that you can listen to over and over. If you, the reader, are a guitar player, this will be incredibly influential to you. All in all, the best cd i own, and the best cd you will own. It won't leave your player for a long time.

11. "Live" is the key - I love this album. Honestly the only reason I purchased it was because of the word "live." I"ve seen John a few times live then gone out and bought his cd and found that I was disappointed. I think John's guitar work far exceeds his vocal talents (not that he can't sing). Blues John Guitar Solo's great CD. Pop John weak sause!

12. WOWZERS - Holy Moley!!!!! I love John Mayer, Pino Palladino, and Steve Jordan!!! I play the drums and he is amazing!! John's music is the best to play to!!! I love it!!! Gravity is the best song ever!! I played it at a coffee house with my Best Friends Matt and Billy Boy!! They are great guitarist too!!!! I love this CD!!!!! love Jess

13. Another Kind of AWESOME! - As a hardcore John Mayer fan, and a owner of all of his CDs (even the live ones), I have to say that this is one of his best CDs yet. Its a great record, with great lyrics and great melodies. Its a stepping stone that leads up to Continuum and is a huge change for fans of John's romantic pop songs. This record contains new twists on classic JM songs, such as Daughters, and new sounds for him. This is truly JM at his best!

14. Mayer already knew his style... - This cd is amazing for any hardcore John Mayer fan. Although, it is suggested that after Mayer's sophmore album, in search of a different style, he hooked up with Jordan and Palladino and learned some new chops to take with him to his new and different album "Continuum". NOT TRUE. Mayer already knew what styles he liked before this album and before Room for Squares and Heavier Things. It was just a matter of the recording company telling him what his music needs to sound like so the public will listen to it. Anyways, this album is obviously different from the first , giving him a sort of release to play whatever style he wants or prefers and a break form the recording company telling him what kind of music to write. I do find it funny tho, what kind of media attention this cd got as opposed to his other albums. Attention- yes. Becuase he changed the name a bit and only played with other musicians. The right kind of attention??? For the music i mean..... nope. O well.... cant change the media! They pretty much control the world! Amazing album!!!!!!

15. Good effort; check back with us in five years - I recently saw John Mayer play in Detroit. He did several tunes off this album to a mixed reaction from the crowd (mainly teens.) When he asked, "Do you want to hear some more blues?" the crowd answered, "No!" John Mayer has chops, but he spent the first decade of his career learning to be a pop star. Now he needs to learn to be a well-rounded musician, blues and jazz included. This album is a start. Gravity is far and away the best cut; the rest of it is not that much better than the best jazz trio wherever you live. Hopefully he'll get some real experience with real players, and come back in five years and give an album like this another try.

16. Taking It To Another Level! - Simply put, outstanding. You can now really feel a personality and an aura around John's music. I heard them say in an interview that he really felt that he finally put his every thought and feeling into a cd and I have to say he is completely right. I can't wait to here more new stuff.

17. WOW - Before I heard TRY! all I thought of John Mayer was that he was some sappy musician for teenage girls but now I consider him one of the most talented guitar players. Listining to songs like Try and Who did you think I was proves his guitar prowess and his cover of Jimi Hendrix is simply amazing. BUY THIS ALBUM, IT WILL BE THE BEST THING YOU DO TODAY!!!

18. Stevie Ray Vaughn would be proud! - If the legend SRV was alive he would be incredibly proud of John Mayer and this amazing gift to the everlasting library known as the blues. For those expecting a poppy John Mayer album, look elsewhere. For those who admire incredible musicianship at its perfection by professional greats...this album is the one you want!

19. TREZ impressed - I will admit (slightly abashadly, however) that I've been a John Mayer fan. I saw him once in concert, and thought he did a bit too much showboating to the crowd of year old girls that were in the audience, but never doubted his guitar chops (or songwriting, although it does have a bit of a sugary pop aftertaste). He shows that his recordings up to this point do not 'contain' his guitar playing, songwriting, or even singing. Word.

1. Stands the test of time - I was a young girl, living in boulder Colorado in a VW van up the road to Nederland. I crashed in this co-workers house for a few days when the snow got to be to deep and cold to be crashing in a van. I had the place to myself which was a luxury, so I helped myself to her food and music. She had this album on her turntable and the first songs “blew my mind”. Looking out at the Rockies and the snow, listening to Bonnie tell you how to “keep your man” made me the blues singer I am today. She has and always be an inspiration. Mama T

2. A Great Start - This was such a great debut album. Blues, Covers, and a few originals. She sings well but her vocals are buried on some of the songs. Band is tight. It kind of sounds like a high quality bootlegs which seems right for the times and the music. I like it a lot and keep coming back to it as my favorite album by this great artist. I am glad she finally got some success and has remained true to her music for so many years. Uncle Joe's Tunz

3. Raw, real, unfiltered Raitt - I think this was her first. I looked for it in the 'contemporary' bin after hearing Bluebird on Cerphe's show on 'HFS in D.C. but couldn't find it. Turns out it had been put in the 'Country' section for some reason. Those were different times. There wasn't such concern with where a musician fit - or didn't fit back then. Bonnie's music wouldn't have been easy to categorize any way. It was jazzy, bluesy R&B with the Bumblebees doing backup vocals.. Looking back now I'd say it was American music and I'd note how it came together at the very end of the figurative and literal Big Muddy; it was a white girl at the whip cracking end of the Mississippi and on the other end, snapping that whip, was New Orleans. But I didn't know that then. I only knew that this kid pn the cover with the bottle of Cutty Sark was something very special. What a soulful voice! What a soulful look! That streak in her wavy red hair. I feel sorry for you if you didn't get to discover her then.

4. garage / cottage classic - like jackson browne, bonnie raitt's first three albums were all brilliant in unique ways. this, her first, was recorded with friends who clearly share a love for this music, these songs, and each other. bonnie's later recordings were justifiably popular, and this record is never going to have mass appeal. but it's so real, so natural, so beautifully curated, performed, and recorded, that it has a quality a performer can't rehearse or plan for: an organic sense of timelessness. it's like listening to the rain on the roof of a cabin or a cottage, which might be far away from civilization, but can never be far enough away to let you forget the heartache these songs express. it's one single piece of music that takes the listener to familiar, personal, and ultimately redemptive places. 'give it up or let me go' was nearly as good, and probably had a better band and better songs. definitely had better audio quality. but this one is the original. just listen to the -second clips. that voice, that crackle on the lousy mastering of the recording (it sounds a little like they made the digital copies from my original vinyl lp), that band, those songs. if you're not hooked by the clip of 'bluebird', then this won't work for you. if you are, you'll find wisdom and a musical thrill here that is rare, and one that, frankly, even bonnie raitt never equalled.

1. Her masterpiece - There are very few artists who so stun me on first listen that I stop whatever I am doing to find out who they are. Stevie Ray Vaughan and Bonnie come to mind. I was driving cross country in and heard Give It Up for the first time. I immediately bought the album. It remains one of my favorites to this day.

2. A classic that shows what all the fuss is about... - Having grown up in the Boston area in the 's and all that music that burst through, you'd likely hear those bluesy, New Orleans uptempo Bonnie Raitt songs at parties during those years as the Vietnam war was ending. Hardly ever "commerical" Bonnie's early gems stood out even though she was considered a "female" singer/guitarist in a male dominated scene and such fought for all her kudos. Thankfully I had friends that listened to "Give it Up" and it really changed my outlook on music and is considered one of those classic collections from the early 's that still makes you smile remembering back to those carefree days putting an album on. Unique still to this day as she mixed up some interesting styles and all together forms such a great cool hybrid of what was to come along side Little Feat, Maria Mulduar, Leon Redbone, so many talents that mixed styles. From blues to rock infused to ballads, Bonnie Raitt to this day continues to find and deliver first class gems of American music and more, her way! Start to finish this is a recorded classic of down home, unpredentious. real music... Love has no Pride, Nothing seems to matter, Give it up, I know, so much to love about this one...

3. QUINTESSENTIAL BONNIE - Years before the multiple Grammy's and the platinum records, Bonnie quietly made brillant records like this one, while a small but devoted fan base listened. Considering how big that fan base eventually (and deservedly) became, it's astonishing to see how few reviews this world class artist has gotten on itunes...even for her biggest records. Like Aretha, Bonnie is one of the greatest singers of all time, and this is one of her classics.

1. Blistering Blues !! - "It's My Own Fault" is one of the best performances of the blues I have ever heard. It reminds me of the old Maxell poster. Just blows your hair clean off! WOW! The rest of the album is a great "JAM" by one of the GIANTS that once roamed the Earth. If you like this check out "LIVE in Sweden ". Thx

2. Truly one of the best live recordings - ... ever made. This rendition of "Jumpin' Jack Flash" jacks my blood pressure up every time and I've been listening to it periodically since . Oh, and Bobby Caldwell was off the hook on this album. The band's musicianship and energy on "Live And" is special. Ten stars. The best six bucks you will EVER spend.

3. Listen to it loud enough and you might see God. - This is a must listen, must own, if you consider yourself a fan of music of the era, blues rock, hard rock and guitar rock. The audio isn't the best but the power and soul of the music leaps through the speakers and gives you a punch in the undies. R O C K & R O L L.

4. Johnny Winter And. . .and Wow Is All I Can Say - I saw Johnny Winter And in when they played the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO, and it was staggeringly, jaw-droppingly amazing. This album is like stepping into the Way Back Machine and being transported to that night, that rare musical moment in time and space. Guitar wizardry in the truest sense of the phrase abounds throughout this album, Johnny and Rick Derringer were a hell of a guitar-slinging duo. I am motivated to write this humble tribute to a true Guitar Genius after hearing the news that Johnny passed away yesterday, July , . Talent like that does not get handed out very often. If you care about rock and roll guitar, buy this album now.

5. ROCK N ROLL NEVER DIES - When I heard this album in , it hit really hard and i was introduced to Johnny Winter.
I agree the album still hits hard today as it did then. I saw johnny at least twice a year live in Chicago for years and it was a thing to see, loud , rough, and rowdy as hell. Between the fights in the audience was the music. Its got energy just like Edgars Roadwork Live!!
Truley, one of Johnny's best. You feel like your right there in the Arogon Ballroom when you listen to this.....

6. Detroit Rock n Roll Revival - While not specifically recorded that night these songs, and a few others, made up Johnny's set as the headliner for a wild day of music some years ago. The revival was held at the old Michigan State Fairgrounds just outside of Detroit in the spring of . The groups assembled are now part of Rock and Roll history. There were a couple of capable but now forgotten groups in Tin House and Teegarden & Van Winkel. We didn't know it at the time, but then the stars came out. Bob Segar, J. Geils Band, the Allman Brothers, Edgar Winter's White Trash and Johnny Winter as the final act of an incredible day and night. The energy and excitement of Winter's and Derringer's dueiling guitars had the crowd in a frenzy. The point is that while today most people are very familiar with the earlier acts (all of which are great) fewer people know Johnny Winter. He was rightly the headliner that night and he and Rick Derringer brought down the house. This guy knew how to play guitar. Check out his first two Columbia albums as well as Progressive Blues Experiment.

7. Just Amazing! - Arguably the best live if not best outright blues-rock album ever made. I too wore this album out. The Stones could not have imagined Jumpin Jack Flash like JW And did it. It is killer! As one of my friends just said, "when Johnny screams "Rock and Roooll!" to open Johnny Be Good "I'm done!" Simply the best. I just downloaded a copy.

8. Johnny Winter And/ Live - I am years old and I still consider this brilliant musician one , if not THE best R & R/ blues guitarists in the world! This is one heck of a live recording that I feel transcends time. I practically wore this vinyl out . I'm going to have to buy this record off Itunes, and I would recommend it to any rock/blues FANATIC!!

9. Truly this is the best!! - I was when this was released and it was and is one of my favorites. Getting close to and when I pull out the turntable this is the first one to go on. This is what it was all about in the late 's. When I think about Johnny B. Goode, this is the version that runs through my head.

10. Some Things Never Change - I was when this album came out and I used to listen to it over and over again. It never got old and it never got boring. Now that I'm about to turn , I can still listen to it over and over again. It doesn't get old and it doesn't get boring. Of course, some things do change. I originally owned the LP. Then it was an -track tape, a casstte and, finally, a CD. (Which, of course, means it's also on my iPod.)

11. Mean Town Blues.... - I was fortunate enough to see this show when Johnny Winter and what was The McCoys teamed up to form Johnny Winter And. An incredible show and cd!!! It's great to hear the two guitars weaving in and out, rocking the house. This is entirely different than the one studio album they recorded, which is also great. The absolute best versions of Good Morning Little School Girl and It's My Own Fault that you will ever hear!

12. "Guitar God" - This album introduced me to the concept - When I was about years old, I really liked Edgar Winter's "They Only Come Out at Night," and Rick Derringer's "All American Boy." I think back then I liked them for their "pop" aspects. So when I saw a used copy of Johnny Winter And, "Live," for a dollar, in the used record store, I thought I give it a spin. I got it home, put it on my turntable, and heard the scratchy record's hisses and pops. The next thing I remember was the guitar riffs. Then came the singing. Johnny's voice sounded like Edgar's, but it was my first time to hear rockin' blues and complex, flying, lightning blues guitar. There, on the spot, for the first time in my life I understood the concept of "Guitar God." Prior to this I had seen the famous photo of the wall where someone had spray painted "Clapton is God." But I always thought that was silly. Johnny Winter remains my ultimate favorite guitar player, and I will match his skill against any (Clapton, Page, etc., they are "adequate" compared to Johnny's greatness). This album, along with my other favorite all time guitar album, Johnny Winter "Captured Live" are, in my opinion, the two greatest albums of guitar playing ever recorded.

13. Johnney Winter And Live - Absolutly: a R&R Hall of fame contender... I say, you CAN, absoultely hear both gutiarists/vocalists All THROUGH this record! And further, any rough edges/stumbles are made up for w/ spirit & virtuosity... I don't think I'm overstating things to say that this record's approach to rock & roll gutiar really helped blaze the way for alot of the "Heavy Metal" R&R gutiar sounds that followed in the "s.... But, (!) with two Very, very, very strong ("simi-caucasian") R&R / R&B vocalists to back it all up... If this band &/or these guys recorded NOTHING else but this record, they - Johnney W., Rick D., Randy Jo Hobbs & Bobby C. all deserve to be inducted into the R&R Hall of fame! That's right!... just for this "Humpin' Thumpin", Rockin', Rollin', " fly-by-the-seat-of-their-pants-without ever really-sufferin'crashin" masterpiece of ah' live R&R musial performance - Gawd'ah Mighty-Bless them & their's for this piece of work!

14. Great blues rock album - If you like great guitar playing, this is an awesome album. The production value is nothing (it was supposedly recorded straight to a two track with no studio touch ups) and it is hard to hear the second guitarist (Rick Derringer), but Johnny's playing is insane. He has an incredible energy on every cut and his guitar tone is fabulous.

15. Doesn't Get Better Than This!!!! - If you have ever been in the crowd at a nightclub where the band is just SMOKIN', everyone in the crowd is jammin', everyone in the place is covered with sweat....the music is LOUD...the air is filled with smoke and it seems like the place is about to EXPLODE...that's what this record is about. I can't think of another live album that can match this for intensity or virtuosity. This is about four guys turning all the way up and lettin' it go. If you don't have it, get it...if you've been banished to a distant country, make sure it's on your iPod!

1. Best Blues Collection for ZZ Top - If you like the bluesier side of ZZ Top, then this album is for you. I own the CD and bought it again off of I tunes because it's that damn good. Sure Got Cold (after the rain fell), is in my opinion one of the finer ZZ Top songs ever written. If you like the fluff they did on Eliminator or Afterburner then don't buy this album. If you like Deguello, Rio Grande Mud or Tres Hombres, then this album is for you.

2. Nobody Does It Better!! - There isn't much more to say than that. Over the years, ZZ Top has consistently written some of the best music out there, while remaining true to their roots. Only the greats can do that. This release is an excellent example of their blues-driven rock sound. "She Loves My Automobile" and "A Fool For Your Stockings" are two standouts in this exceptional release. Must have for Top fans.

3. Two Feet Tappin' The Blues - I'll keep it simple: Sure Got Cold After the Rain Fell and She Loves My Automobile get my vote for two of their most underrated tunes. Great songs. Bar-B-Q cooks too (pun intended) but in a different way. My Head's In Mississippi gets props as well. Lots to like with plenty of songs under the ZZ Top radar.

1. legend in his own time - In a time where we disgustingly throw around the term "rock star" for those of little consequence or talent, Robin Trower shows us what it means to have an impact even years after first practicing his craft for us. A consummate, caring, and intense artist, Robin surrounds himself with those whom also deeply and compassionately deliever music that still deserves attention. 'Daydream' and the other classics, as well as the newer material, still take us to that place where few musicians will ever reside, and invite us along for the ride. Thank You, Robin and band for this awesome live collection!

2. Back In The Day.... - Also saw Trower at the venerable Winterland many times. Day of the Eagle got all the pub/air but Bridge of Sighs and Little Bit of Sympathy are my favorites. Bridge of Sighs, with Pattison is still very good but with Dewar, it was almost an out of body experience. Unless I'm missing something, why are "In This Place" and "Lady Love" missing? Great tunes! Off topic...kind of: If you can find it, "Beyond The Mist" is an incredible album largely ignored.

3. Living out of time - Trower Live - I saw Trower at Winterland in , he was great and I was . Saw him last year in LA, But this is insane good. If you like live Trower there is nothing I have ever heard or seen him do that ranks with this. I always wonder when we will all get arthritis in our left hands, not Robin, fingers are bionic.

4. As if it's ' all over again - Not having James Dewar is a huge loss but Davey Pattison(Gamma) is an able replacement and did a lot of work with trower in the 's. This collection is such a tour de force for Trower fans fond of the old and new tunes alike. He hasn't lost a thing except a few hairs but his chops are as passionate and powerful as ever. Will not dissapoint serious guitar fans unless they think that Lenny Kravitz is the second coming....

1. Good Effort - Love the songs. Her collaboration with Jim McCormick netted some great tunes here. Unfortunately, she missed some high notes on some of the songs (like Go Home). Her voice seemed stronger as the record went along, though. She carries all the load on the guitars and does a great job, but I would love for her to add a hot-shot guitar player to play off (l always liked the way her and Dani played together in Girls with Guitars - not that Dani is a hot-shot). And as the other reviewers mentioned she is great live.

2. Samantha Fish just keeps getting better! - Fantastic album! Samantha Fish really does keep getting better and better! I've seen her perform these songs live, her live shows are outstanding! This album expertly mixes blues/rock and the guitar playing is masterful! Buy this album you won't be disappointed!

1. Love this slow burning Guitar album. TROWER is back and BLUE! - I have enjoyed everything this man has played. Saw him live as a kid at the FILLMORE EAST and when PROCUL HARUM let him off his leash he would burn Burn BURN...He still DOES BURN! this is so nice to see, and i only wish he was as revered as ERIC C. Because even tho he is not a writer or a genre jumper, he does his thing with life , love and INTEGRITY that matters.... Get this!

2. tonenfeel - Why this guy isn't in the rock n roll hof is mind bogling, considering who is in,it might be a slam against him. The feeling and tone he coaxes out of his guitar is something all guitar players should aspire to. Not a bad cut on the whole cd. the mix of straight ahead blues, rythm and blues, and cosmic blues is outstanding, Although highly unlikely, this should be at the top of the list for Blues album of the year. I just wish he could get more airplay, so that every one can hear this master at work !!

3. THE ONE & ONLY ROBIN TROWER - still right there. - digheyseus_-FEB-
Robin Trower has been a steady fixture in my pre-CD era, vinyl days. For quite a few years I knew him as the guitarist of one of my very favorite bands, named after a cat known as PROCOL HARUM. He was an excellent axeman when I was a year old just discovering the blues genre; and the samples I've heard from this release (as well as his totally well received discography throughout the years) say to us that Robin Trower is indeed still right there.

4. Excellent Blues! - Robin's music can transcend your listening experience with his wonderful solo's. He knows when to hold notes, streaching them into the atmosphere.I am lucky to have now seen him play five times through the years, from to the present, and he has gotten better and better. I really like this new release !Great job Robin and his bandmates!

1. Love It! - I've been a fan ever since I heard Aaron Frazer sing lead on "Is It Any Wonder" (the first song I ever heard by Durand Jones & The Indicators). His style deftly blends vintage R&B/Soul with modern sensibility, and the result is great music that's wonderful to listen and dance to. Love this CD and hope it's the first of many more from him!

1. Apple reviewer is high - This is a great album for any JJ Cale fan. The Apple reviewer who refers to JJ's "limited vocal abilities" and "lazy" presentation hasn't a clue. JJ is a gem and without his style that is presented here, there would be no solo Clapton or Knopler. If you're a beginner, there's better JJ for sure (think Troubadour), but for the true fan, this is a great set.

2. Why is this $.? The CD is available for $. - Amazon has the CD for $.. Download MUST be cheaper to be attractive. Why pay the same for less quality and no physical media. I love iTunes but it HAS/MUST be cheaper. I hope iTunes has a way to pass this feedback on to the labels. Tick-Tock guys! [Sorry for the review of the price only. I'll let you know how the album is when I get my cd from Amazon, though I'd much rather have it from here now.] By the way, this is not because this is a new album. I just bought Bruce's magic for $.. As much as I love Cale, he's WAY out of the spotlight - Bruce is still hot and his album is $..

1. “CLAPTON IS GOD” - This is the album that started it all with hard rock guitar in the ’s,Period! At the time there were no such things as distortion pedals, so Clapton played thru a watt.Marshall, played on a Gibson Les Paul Standard and turned the volume up to !!! His sound was the first of its kind and it was the beginning of Cream, and of course the rest is history!

1. Early Fleetwood Garage Band Blues - Like many bands in the ’s, Fleetwood Mac started out playing the blues. This is a little rough around the edges. But I really enjoy it, having been in a garage band in the sixties. For fans of Fleetwood, this is a must have album, but most fans will be surprised to hear the roots of the group.

2. Bad bad way to market music from such a legend - Kind of hard to review the music when we can’t sample it .We all know who there are; One of the greatest bands in the ’s. 1. Perfect - The only problem with this is it is perfect. And being perfect is now a defect to many. How passionate yet relaxed. What a great subtle band. No overplaying. No showing off chops. What great chemistry. And Clapton is so musical that everthing he sings and every note he plays comes from the heart.

2. The Lady in the balcony - Another great present from a world wide gift/treasure.
These Karens get on here and give this great music negative reviews because it hurt their feelings on Eric giving his opinion on Covid.
We are in some sad times when people can t speak their mind if it goes against the mindless liberal/media agenda.
I would have my doubts if these trolls even listened to it.
Highly recommend this album for its pureness in music/production!

4. I can't support a "lockdown" session from him knowing he's spreading vaccine hesitancy and ignorance - Honestly...I might've snapped up this release. The idea of a laid-back sesssion of Clapton playing acoustic versions of stuff--something he did to wonderful effect on the MTV Unplugged album--would be really welcome...if I didn't feel like it was tied to his relentless campaign against COVID measures like vaccines. He's made his whole identity about opposing efforts to combat the disease as if he's fighting for "freedom." He's emboldening all the wrong people. And I can't support it.

5. It’s Eric and His Great Band - A stripped-down, acoustic session recorded in a non-studio setting…just Eric and a small band of great musicians. There are videos on his website of some of the sessions. Similar to an “unplugged” session without the backup singers and audience…more of an intimate jam session. Many performers could not pull this off without a big production and lots of equipment. Appreciate him and the guys putting this out for us. I liked it very much and am glad I purchased it. Look forward to seeing them in person. Thanks, Eric!!!

6. Nice try - If a low-key acoustic live concert is an attempt to reclaim E.C.'s amazing legacy, this one falls short. He's still in good voice, but he has released way better live versions of nearly all these songs. There's nothing bad here, but at the same time nothing transcendent from a guy who has recently struggled with his message. Maybe his heart just isn't in it any longer.

7. Unplugged Deux - The Energizer Bunny and Clapton should team up make commercials. The evolution of his music has been fun to watch over the years and I’m glad I’ve had decades to witness it. There may be naysayers but I believe that he keeps getting better with age and experience. The band sound great together, not tired and old. Versions of this lineup of musicians have been playing together for decades. Many are old and familiar songs that sound fresh and crisp and a few new ones that will soon be classics. I wondered last night as I was listening to this when it dropped if this was unplugged two and if this was bookends of Clapton’s career. (I have given “Unplugged one” a thorough listening to over the years. Has it really been close to years?) I believe Clapton has much more in him to share with us for years to come. I also believe that that his music will be remembered for decades to come and his musicality will be studied well beyond any of us. Clapton just might be The Forever Man.

8. Living legend - Eric Clapton is a living legend. His music speaks to my soul. I love all types of music (rock, blues, jazz, classical, even some rap). I respect Clapton’s diversity and willingness to cross genres and share his adventures. What an amazing career he has had. I enjoy listening to his stories laid out in music. He reminds me of a bard. He plays other artists music, passing on their tales as well. I feel blessed to have his music in my life.
Long live Clapton and his tales/ music!
Peace and respect.

1. Absolutely a pure drumming "Feat"... Represented Very Well... - All Little Feat albums are "music to one's ears"... But in this drummer's ear, 'Mambo' along with 'Let It Roll' was Richie's greatest rock & funk work! Production was exceptional with a clean cracking snare drum & crisp, bright cymbals reflecting Richie's stand-out chops!! Richie Hayward was one helluva drummer... His pocket and groove was just perfection that made drummers nod their heads & tap their feet with him! Richie was taken way to early... I applaud him & his body of work that luckily lives on for us to still enjoy. RIP Richie... "Time Loves A Hero"

1. cuttiniowa - I recently downloaded this, to complete my Y&T collection, and it would be an understatement to say that this little jewel is "good"... Fantastic is more appropriate. If you love Dave's work- then this is for you. Take it Like a Man is (in my opinion) one of the best songs ever written and performed.
2008-11-21
2. Meniketti Kicks - This is some kickin music straight from the soul. You can hear Meniketti's soul pouring out in his vocals and guitar. This is some of the best "get in there and grab you" blues I have heard. All the muscians are killer. I highly recommend this if you love hard rocking blues. Check out "Loan Me a Dime" and "Bad Feeling" for some great samples.

3. What a great guitarist! - If you like great guitar playing and great blues then get this album. Dave Meniketti is truly one of the best and most underrated guitarists around! Not only is he a great guitarist he is also a great vocalist as well. We can only hope that Dave does more of these although anything new with Y&T would be great, too! Thanks Dave!

1. An Unusual Snapshot of a Moment in Blues - Most, though not all, of this music can be found elsewhere on iTunes or on other legitimate releases. What makes this release unusual is that way that it captures a slice of the blues revival before it got "heavy" in and beyond, and the fact that it does it in a transatlantic way. Lots of collections feature the Clapton Powerhouse material, but very few put it in a context of what American bands were doing, or include the Lovin' Spoonful in the movement. As an album this may not be essential stuff—the chances are good that if you like this kind of music, you already own a lot of what is here—but the tracks you don't have (whichever they might be) are worth checking out. One track is mis-credited. "Can't Keep from Crying Sometimes" is The Blues Project (Al Kooper's band), not Butterfield.

2. Great period piece but there's a mistake, here. - All these guys are great but my favorite track has always been Al Kooper performing I Can't Keep From Cryin Sometimes. I think this is even pre-Blues Project. But unless something has changed over the decades, this fine piece of piano playing has nothing to do with Paul Butterfield.
2009-02-26
3. Bloomfield & Clapton In Their Prime - Every band on this album is at their best, especially bloomfield, butterfield, and clapton. This has some of the best buttefield recordings I have ever heard, also the bluesier side of the lovin spoonful, some of the rawest clapton you'll ever hear, and not to mention some early tom rush. If you're looking for a lost british blues classic then look no further, a must purchase!!!!
2008-01-05
4. Another Extraordinary Bloomfield Gem - The Paul Butterfield Blues Band only had two studio albums featuring the great guitarist Michael Bloomfield, excluding What's Shakin' . What's Shakin' is a great album for Bloomfield fans, for it's just another amazing showcase featuring him with Paul Butterfield...A definite recommendation!

5. Some great artists at their best! - This CD took me back to the days when I was really starting to define my musical tastes. My friends didn't understand my interest in bands like The Lovin' Spoonful, Paul Butterfield, and Tom Rush. They were into the light, "bubble gum" stuff. But now we know which music has survived the test of time. It was the Spoonful song "Night Owl Blues", and Creams' "Born Under A Bad Sign" that ignited my lifelong interest in the Blues. This release is made up of excellent examples of music that inspired and influenced future artists. "Crossroads" is a great tribute to Robert Johnson. Who as any true Clapton fan knows was his greatest influence. The Paul Butterfield Blues Band was, and still is, one of the greatest British blues bands ever to perform. Their contributions to this collection exemplify their many blues influences. Notice the use of lead guitar and harmonica on "Good Morning Little School Girl". The excellent guitar riffs are used to drive the rythym, and then used to mirror the harmonica. Much the same as John Lee Hooker used his guitar to mirror his vocals. The Lovin' Spoonfuls' contributions are classic Spoonful with their combination blues, country, jug band, and rock influences. This CD is a must have for true fans of true 's music.

6. A Lost Classic Blues Album - I am so glad to see this album resurface. Rare cuts of Clapton, Butterfield, Bloomfield, Kooper, and Winwood. "Steppin Out" shows early Clapton at his best. And check out Winwood singing Crossroads with Clapton on guitar and Jack Bruce on bass. Butterfield is terrific as well. One More Mile is one of his best blues songs on record. This album is must for any serious 's blues-revival enthusiast. Enjoy.
2006-03-24
7. A mostly extraordinary album - With the exception of the Spoonful, all the other bands really shine. The Powerhouse actually features the incredible pre-Cream line-up of Clapton on guitar, Jack Bruce on bass, and Steve Winwood on vocals and keyboards. And the pre-Cream versions of Crossroads and Stepping Out are real gems. Butterfield selections here are at least as good as anything done on their own albums - they really burn it up. One mistake must be corrected - Can't Keep from Crying is actually Al Kooper, not Butterfield. And this version matches his other versions that show up on other albums with other bands. Great performances and a look at what was to become an explosive new phase of rock and blues.

1. Tight Rhythm - VG st album - Trying a lot of sounds in this album seems to me. Sounds a little Robert Cray-ish in one tune & somebody else in another & the vocals while similar - are the singer’s own. What I do like in this band, is the drummer & the rhythm section overall. I don’t have the whole album, but there are some very nice cuts on here & I’ve nearly filled it all out - one track at a time.

3. Simply Incredibly - Having seen NMB perform twice at our venue, I have been blown away by their amazing blues style and the sultry vocals of Michael Ledbetter!! Love you guys!!!

4. Love That Sound!!! - As a newfound lover of the Blues, I’m still getting used to the different “types” of blues music. Prior to purchasing “Time Ain’t Free” I hadn’t heard of Nick Moss Band, let alone knew what Chicago style Blues was. I happened to click on the album because of the awesome album art work; but after a short preview of the album I was sold. I love that sound! Thanks for introducing me to Chicago Blues, Nick Moss Band!

1. I agree this album is surely one of their best ones yet! - Mato Nanji seems to me to have alway's sounded like a seasoned Blues Guitarist but now with this album he is now sounding more like a seasoned songwriter as well, with songs like "On My Way", "I'm Missing You", "Hear My Voice", "Let It Shine", "Both To Blame", "You Broke It You Bought It", "What Are You Running From" and "Don't Let It Go" (My Favorite) all sound like they could have just as easily been written by Stevie Ray Vaughan, Kenny Wayne Shepherd or Jonny Lang etc;...etc;..for their albums. :)

1. Great stuff - Another superb Jimmie Vaughan album. Although you can hear the Stevie in some of his licks, he is more like Buddy Guy or B.B. King in this album. Maybe even a touch of Muddy Waters here and there. I like Jimmie as a music man he is a star in his own right and its amazing to have two superior talents in one family. He is a great blues/jazz/rock musiciqan, and bring the best of the chord boogie woogie to the fore front in several of his songs. A keeper for sure, this album is!!!

1. Guitar On Fire - The title is from a Rhino Records compilation that included the prime cuts from Loading Zone, but you can now own the entire lp. This was a college favorite of mine that was often being bounced off of the walls of my dorm. I LOVE the diversity of songs. Stanlye Clarke is fantastic on bass. Roy is the Master of the Telecaster. His playing is a religious experience and confounds the comman man as to how he is able to produce sustain & fluid playing from his guitar. The man amazes me! My favorite tunes on this lp are "Ramon's Blues", "The Adventures of Brer Rabbit & Tar Baby", "The Heat of the Battle" and "Green Onions". Roy - you are missed!! Buy this now!!!!!
