1. Sensational- glad to witness a star - Became an instant fav album of mine. A classic and a true musical genius. Only a few musicians in a generation can create bold sounds and melodies and tell a story and have a beautiful voice. A must listen beginning to end - it will aside everything around you and you will feel his presence. Solid Ground, Final Days and Light are my favorite but every song is brilliant and belongs. Go see him live. He’s amazing! Thank Michael Kiwanuka.

1. Loved this album for a long time - I saw that this album didn’t have a review, and I had to write one. I remember when ‘Put Your Records On’ was on Vh’s You Oughta Know. I loved that song immediately, and within a few days I’d bought the album. I’ve listened to it constantly ever since. Love it. Choux Pastry Heart and Trouble Sleeping are my favorites.

1. Absolute-Classic album, MAIMED by the radio remix - This is NOT the original version of Back II life. That version was acapella, and really gave us the power & beauty of Caron Wheeler's voice, and fed seamlessly--BEAUTIFULLY--into Jazzie's Groove. One of the all-time best - punches of the s, but for some reason, they went with the radio/MTV remix version of the song here. Heart-breaking.

1. Could I say comfort woman : the continuation - Art is not that simple it's either you get it or you don't but some day it strikes you and you are right on board ... She continues where she left off on Comfort woman could a concert with Monty Alexander be on the cards I love the following tracks Tom Forget my name And yet it moves
Comet, come to me
Conviction
Folie a Deux
Modern Time But then again I love the Devils Halo album but then again I love all her albums in varying degrees like the bass line on Cookie: The Anthropological Mixtape drives me crazy. Deeply bass, and the mellow voice of the song bird laced with lovely expressions playing to her beat. its an album made for addicts or should I say bass freaks like me once again we shall have a feast we are trapped and won't get over it, so Boom right on that...bang on that bass ... I must say to some extent it is safe yet not commercial she plays like the way she loves music to the work ...right now or maybe later enjoy the music

2. Mother of NeoSoul, Come to Me - MeShell NdegeOcello......innovator. Collaborator. Invigorator. She burst onto the scene and into my conciousness with "Plantation Lullabies" so many years ago and has soared through the everchanging, if not disappointing landscape of music of the past ten years. Fortunately, MeShell has stayed above the fray, offering her blend of jazz, funk and fusion, never letting her listeners down. Always uplifting and leaving us panting for more. I've always called each release day of every new album of hers like Christmas. Today is no different. I will sip this album like a good brandy..........

1. Fantastic debut album - While driving, I heard an interview with Liz Vice on NPR, and was blown away by her story and by her voice. I had never downloaded an album before -- being somewhat old school and generally preferring physical media. But as soon as I stopped the car, I brought up iTunes and downloaded the album. Every single song is excellent.

2. Beautiful music from a shining soul - It's a real treat to find unique Christian music that sounds original and substantive. While the sound may be familiar to some soul music of old the vocals and heart make this an ever-relevant source of inspiration and an aid to connect to our Lord. A real blessing.

3. Late to the party - I m late to the party here. I heard Empy Me Out on my local MPR station. Listened to the previews of the album, then purchased!!! Every song is good. The band is tight, clean...the words and vocals amazing. It is refreshing to hear real drums. You will be brought to your knees by the album.

4. Incredible album - Thank God for church choirs. Sure, they're a haven for singers who don't have a shot elsewhere, but without them we wouldn't have Liz Vice. Sitting in the pew at Door of Hope church in Portland, she heard the still small voice telling her to try out for the worship band. Though until then her singing had been limited to private venues like the shower, she was a hit at church and quickly started working with her pastor Josh White on extraecclesial activity through his Deeper Well Collective. In , they recorded a ten-song LP she thought would be a quick diversion from her filmmaking career. Instead, the album resonated so powerfully and has gained such steady buzz that Ramseur Records snapped her up and re-released There's a Light nationally last week. Part of that buzz comes from Leon Bridges, this year's retro-gospel golden boy, who's been vocal on social media about his love of Vice's music. There's significant common ground between Leon and Liz - both were unfamiliar with classic gospel until they somehow found themselves making it. And Bridges' backing band, White Denim, played a similar role to the one Josh White has in Vice's career, recognizing a serious talent and pushing to collaborate on a record together. White wrote and produced every song on There's a Light, and they have the same straightforward lyrical efficiency that defined his own solo album from last year. That's for the best, because Vice imbues them with such power that frills would just be a distraction. His work behind the boards recalls Jeff Tweedy's recent production for Mavis Staples, bringing a crisp indie rock jangle to the vintage sound. Vice's doesn't just stay in the gospel wheelhouse, though - There's a Light dips into several other genres including soul, R&B, and funk, and far from sounding like the greenhorn she is, she's eminently at-home in each one. The slow-burner "Abide" kicks the album off with a bass groove so deep it's practically subterranean, and Vice's voice has a natural ease to it as she paints a picture of the church leaving its wordly hopes by the wayside for its imperishable hope in Christ. And on the next track, a thumper called "Empty Me Out" (which features an excellent Hammond organ solo in its last thirty seconds), the surrender is even more intense. She asks the Lord to scrape her heart out like a dirty dish to make more room for Jesus: "Empty me out, fill me with You/Lord, there is nothing I can give to You". In a recent interview with NPR, Vice recounted the first time she soloed at her church: drenched in sweat, heart hammering and pores gasping, she realized, "This must be how James Brown feels." Her affinity with the Grandmaster goes further than that - "Truly Today" has a seriously funky Wurlitzer lick on it that would get the toes of a paralytic moving. The same goes for "Pure Religion", which is anchored by a dirty garage-blues guitar that sounds like a fifty-pound bumblebee. Nearly every track on There's a Light has one one of these distinctive hooks, and it makes for a record that quickly carves its way into your mind. The whole thing was recorded on analog tape, which Vice makes rattle and fuzz when she really lets loose on the title track, "There's a Light". With bare-bones percussion and guitar, it smacks of early White Stripes, and Josh White wisely lets her voice make its own case. It pays off, and the song stands as one of the LP's most memorable moments. The other one is "All Must Be Well", where the organ, keys, and whole rest of the band pile up on the cathartic climax as Vice lets herself falls headlong into the peace that passes understanding: "On the Father's love relying/Jesus every need supplying/Whether living or in dying". The particular grace that comes from facing mortality point blank and still trusting God is all over Liz Vice - she got a death sentence at fifteen when she developed an auto-immune disease. A kidney transplant saved her life years later, but when she sings, it sounds like she's always got a grin on her face, as if she's just been healed (watching an interview with her bears that suspicion out). That joy isn't rooted in herself, though. Rather, it comes from unshakable faith in the deep, deep love of God, which is something you can't fake, no matter how good it makes your music sound. 5. Instant smile on my face! - I'm not a review writer normally but this is not a normal day! This is the day I got to listen to some of the best music I've heard in a long time. After calling all around town trying to find a physical cd I bit the bullet and purchased the digital version. As soon as track one started I was induced to clapping and cheering. Seriously, if you are looking for new music that hasn't gone thru the spin cycle of the music industry get this album! The voice, the lyrics, the band, everything is awesome!!!!

6. Best thing to ever hit my ears!!! - There I was getting Panda Express with my best friends on a fateful Sunday night in mid September. I was getting half chow mien and half fried rice with orange chicken and pot stickers. Best combo. This order brought me to the register where I payed but that's when it occurred to me something had been playing in the background very subtly. An angelic voice singing with true feeling. "Empty me out" I had to know what it was blessing my ears. Nay! Blessing my soul! Siri assisted me and moments later there she was, Liz Vice, I bought both songs and preordered the album. Never have I been more sure that . God is real . He has blessed this woman and . This was the greatest thing to ever happen to music. Tldr; its original, swingy, amazing and it glorifies God!

1. She's perfect! - Her voice is perfect! It melts me! It's the purest sound I've heard in a singer. I'm obsessed with her voice and can listen to it all day! Her energy is infectious as well! Nicest person you could meet. She's sweet humble and down to earth! Greta overall artist! My favorite voice in the planet!

2. Do Yourself A Favor - Get this record! I've had the privilege to see her and her band live on a couple of occasions and they were two of the better shows I've seen. You can put the needle down anywhere on this record and jam. If you see that she's coming to a city near you, you're gonna wanna go. Trust.

1. Ageless - I found Otis Redding when I was a teen. At , I work part-time with young'ns in their 's who love their music. We share back and forth. One day, a young associate passes me by, turns and calls out, "Thank You!" I ask, "For what?" He replies, "Otis Redding!" Like the first reviewer said, Gone Too Soon, but hardly forgotten. In fact, ageless.

1. Great live show! - I saw the exact same show in Seattle Wa. WAR opened up for the Spinners. This was while I was in the military at Ft. Lewis in . When this Live Album Came out I was blown away that not only did they play the same set of songs, but had the same yellow tuxedos for the cover shot where they also performed at the Atlantic Casino. Phillipe Wynne brought tears to my eyes with SADIE, wow !!! So sad only one original member of the group is alive now but still touring. Stars for this album . I have the double album but glad it's now in digital form on my phone/computer. I still cannot understand why " I'll be around " was not sung at that concert or put into this Lp. As a tribute to the Spinners, I sing this song with the Band I play with in Palm Springs & the fans of the Spinners love it still! Thanks ITUNES for making this available. I also bought the blue covered album just entitled SPINNERS released in . Thanks! Bernie F.

2. THE BEST - THE SPINNERS ARE THE BEST. THIS IS THE SOUNDTRACK OF MY LIFE. THIS RECORDING OF "HOW COULD I LET YOU GET AWAY" IS VERY RARE AND ONE OF A KIND. LIVE, I WOULD LIKE TO SEE ANY OF TODAYS ARTIST TRY THAT. I PURCHASED THIS DOUBLE ALBUM IN A USED RECORD STORE YEARS AGO. I PAID $. AND WOULD HAVE PAID TWICE THAT.

3. Spinners Live - I missed the opportunity to buy this album when it first came out in the 's. Just knowing I can once again hear the live voice of one of the most soulful lead singers in R&B history (Phillipe Wynn) makes it worth the wait. This is a must for Spinners fans around the world! If you loved your mother (not like Eminem) you'll love the live version of Sadie. It will make you appreciate your mother even more. The Spinners were hot long before the ones you pimp your ride with.

1. Lets hope this is just a misguided phase - Tried so hard to like it but couldn't make myself even tolerate it. On their website Paul says "our horn players are so talented we wanted them to work with other instruments..." Wha??? Hendrix was Hendrix because he never picked up the bagpipes! This band is way too talented to start genre-hopping. If you're tired and homesick, take some time off and recharge but don't put out some trite sci-fi concept nonsense in the interim. The Stones evolved but staying close enough to their roots to last years. heres to hoping you make it back to yours!

2. Grows on you - Initially I was disappointed in this album. It seems to have strayed from their roots of soul, Funk, Gospel, and Motown. But the more I listened to the album the more of the songs grew on me, and even though it is not their traditional style; there is still value in their sound. I do hope they bring back the horn section and more of their soulful roots; I do miss that element.

3. Not the typical St Paul sound we are accustomed to - I have been a fan of St Paul & the BB’s for years. I was drawn into their unique blues, funk, and upbeat make-ya-wanna-dance sound.
This album seems to have lost some of that and I think we saw a small amount of that disappear from the preceding album, Young Sick Camelia.
We hear slower rhythms, less funk, and only a couple songs that have the make-you-wanna- dance and groove sound.
I hope they return to their original sound because I think that is a large piece of what us kept fans devoted to them. They are hands down some of THE best in person performers out there, even if the sound is changing. Keep it funky and fresh!

1. A Must Have - It's hard to describe in words how this album makes me feel, but today as I listened to it while getting ready for work and I went from feeling ho-hum to feeling like anything is possible especially when the song O.B.E. came on. It provided for me a sort of energizing meditation in the funkiest way possible. So much talent on this one album and so thankful for Dam Funk delivering this inspiring sermon in his own way. Now, download it and invite the light for yourself!

1. Studio Versions in Stereo! - Sounds like original studio versions of "Ruler of My Heart" and "It's Raining" in stereo. Impossible, but somehow true. Weren't the originals in mono? Whatever the case, the cuts on this LP are beautiful and don't sound like re-records. Worth every penny. I just hope she's getting the money, too. There's nothing else like Irma!

1. A true original - Arthur/Dibesh dropped this EP out of nowhere about a month after finishing nd on American Idol. It was a self-funded, self-written, self-titled effort and he deserves kudos for making things happen for himself. The songs are definitely not what people expected from him, but after a few listens, he is still keeping true to himself. He's a true artist and he's doing his thing and not putting restrictions on his sound or style. Lady Luck and Coastlines are my two favorites. Justice and Revolution are definitely songs for our current times. Find a Way and Chill have a really good vibe. Even Goodness is very original with the horns and the hip-hop flair that is found througout the album.
Overall, he floats between his flow and singing and unlike a lot of hip-hop, there is original music behind all the tracks. Looking forward to seeing what he does next because it will always be a surprise.

1. Motown's Mistake! - Gladys Knight has said that Motown and Berry Gordy just didn't do right by them, despite their great version of I HEARD IT THROUGH THE GRAPEVINE, which of course would then lead to the release of Marvin Gaye's version of the same song which was sitting on the shelf, Gordy was too interested in Diana Ross and the you know whos. So, by the time they were finally allowed to record the wonderful NEITHER ONE OF US and DADDY COULD SWEAR.....they were out the door. They signed with Budda records and created one of the greatest R&B albums ever put on vinyl: IMAGINATION. Every cut was a classic, if not a bonified Hit! This is their Masterpiece. MIDNIGHT TRAIN, I'VE GOT TO USE MY IMAGINATION, WHERE PEACEFUL WATERS FLOW, YOU'RE THE BEST THING.... An incredible album, that prepared the way for many other hits. A well deserved gem for them. It was no wonder they refused to show up for Motown !!

1. Wake Up Everybody! - I can't speak technically about this music only that it moves me Hoping to go back to teaching my Dance Exercise classes with this Covid behind us & Wake Up Everybody is going to be my opening song! I went down the rabbit hole to look for a more current version, and found John Legend & The Roots version great, but deep down this version moves me more- (I'll buy the other version for another class). After previewing more of HM&TBN, I've now bought their Greatest Hits & this one! Gotta luv Teddy's vocals....So many great songs...Bad Luck, The Love I Lost & this version of Don't Leave Me This Way, which we dance to by Thelma Houston & Pressure Cookers & also The Communards, looks like I'll be adding this to our repitoir!
