1. Disappointing update - Totally disgusted with a recent update on this album! I purchased this many years to hear the original versions of these songs, which were on this album until recently. Now, some of the songs don't sound anything like the original. Don't waste you money!!! I never would've purchased this had I known iTunes could make these changes without my knowledge or consent! Wish I could get my money back!

2. A band with a food name? - These troubadours play too darn loud for me. And are they a white bread, a rye bread, maybe a pumpernickel? What's next, a band called "Jelly?" Too darn loud. I betcha narcotics were consumed as well...just say NO like the late great Nancy Reagan did. I'll stick to my D.R.I. and Cough....

3. It Don't Matter To Me. - OK, once and for all, if you didn't read through some of the other reviews, here's the deal: "It Don't Matter To Me", the original album version, from the debut, has a more midtempo, rock sound to it. They re-recorded the song in for release to radio, adding strings and slowing the tempo. That version is on this album, and it's a re-recording, but not in the sense of what K-Tel does in the iTunes Store. This version here is the one released to radio in . The album version (no strings) is elsewhere in the store. Both versions are fine.

4. Must have for pop afficianados - Bread is an often unfairly maligned band. Probably one of the first true cross-over powerhouses--Gates was always straddling the fence between country and rock, and you can hear it all over this collection--Bread has influenced a ton of musical trends both good and bad. ALso want to add my displeasure with others about the inclusion of the ridiculously re-cut IDMTM track on here, which jettisons the orchestral production in favor of massively overdubbed vocals. Normally, I like stripping songs down to their essence, but this is a case where the strings are a central feature of the bands sentimentlity as artists and songrwriters. That song is supposed to be syrupy for crying out loud. So leave in the original production, because they nailed it the first time. If you're a younger musician, and you want to really learn how a good song is crafted from a very accessible band that mastered the art, this is a good place to learn. Gates is acknowledged by many of us musicians as one of the best bridge writers of his generation, and if you want to learn how to construct compelling bridges within powerful but basic melodies, you can't really do much better than studying Bread.

5. Even now it still brings a tear - This is some of the most beautiful music ever written. It touches more than just your heart, it brings back memories of first love lost and how I wish she were here with me now. So many years ago and these songs still remind me of just how much I still love her. Thank you Bread for keeping these memories alive for all those like me. Nancy my dearest, I still wish you all the love and happiness you can find.

6. Awesome band, great price - I have almost everything released by Bread, including a really rare studio release of James Griffin singing David Gates' songs with the band. Needless to
say, I really love this band. That being said, I highly recommend this album to anyone who wants a really good collection if well written songs. One of my favs is on here: Too Much Love. Buy this album and you won't regret it.

7. A COLLECTION OF MASTERPIECES !!! - Bread is truly one of the greatest american singer/songwriting bands of the late 's/'s era. Bread led by the genius of David Gates and James Griffin truly launched the soft rock era with their brilliantly crafted ballads that influenced an entire decade of songwriters. But what is often misunderstood and important also to add is that Bread could also rock out just as hard as they could play soft when they wanted. However, it is David Gates that defined the soft rock sound with a voice that has to be one the most beautiful and unique sounding voices of all time. His smooth ethereal voice soothes the listener's ear while the poignancy of his lyrics touches their heart. Just listen to the heartbreaking mourning of "Everything I Own" which was written by Gates after the loss of his father for example. Other masterpieces here are the hits "If" and "Diary" with their brilliantl hypnotic acoustic guitar work played by Gates as well as their mega atmospheric soft rock hit "Baby I'm-A Want You". Another brilliantly crafted hit here is the epic "Guitar Man" which with perfection defines the life cycle of a musician and his life on the road. This is an amazing collection of songs with the notable sad exception of the songs "The Other Side Of Life" , "Been Too Long On The Road" and "Look At Me" which really should have been here and deserve purchasing. If you want the finest in singing and songwriting then look no further. BUY THIS ONE!

8. It Don't Matter to Me-The Original version - To those who were to young to remember, The first Bread Lp was released in ". The original "It Don't Matter to Me' was on that Lp. They later re-recorded it for release with strings in . The "Anthology" has the re-recorded version, "The Best of Bread" has the original.

9. the best of Bread says it all it is the best of all time!!! - I actually have the original album on vinyl and it is fantastic. I remember listening to it on the radio and I am hoping to buy this to put it on my ipod. As Bread's soft easy listening like If and it don't matter to me are some of my absolute favorites. anyone who remembers Bread's music as it was released by in the 's knows they one of the best ever. Bread is and was the most very best and anyone who appreciates music at this level will know what it means to sit back and listen to music that touches the soul.

10. Don't buy it here - This album comes with an alternate version of "It Don't Matter To Me", as other reviewers have stated. Do yourself a favor and pick up a copy at the store. This is a very accessible album available just about anywhere, so don't get tricked by iTunes into getting this disgraceful version of one of the best songs. Aside from that, this collection is immeasurable. Very good songs by one of the best old bands. I was very impressed. These guys write some of the most amazing lyrics.

11. forget the sappy stuff - I only bought songs mother freedom, let your love go, down on my knees....can y'all really tolerate that sensitive weepy junk? is anybody diggin all that except my preteen sisters in ? It really confused the heck outta me when i was little , why would those cats make such sappy songs when they could actually do some interesting ROCK !

12. A classic bit of early 's - No, indeed IT DON'T MATTER TO ME is not the version from the first album, but it's the correct version for this collection. After MAKE IT WITH YOU gave them their breakthrough hit, they re-recorded the earlier track as the followup. This way, new drummer Mike Botts could be used (in place of Jim Gordon, who played as a session man on the first album.) Strings were added as well, and this became the single, and the version that has always been on BEST OF BREAD. Ironically, they didn't start out to be a ballad band. Their first two singles were rockers: DISMAL DAY, and COULD I. Both bombed, and technically, no tracks from the first album made it onto the original BEST OF BREAD LP. All tracks beyond TRUCKIN' were added as bonuses to the CD release.

13. Try To Find The Very st Bread LP... - it is available, in its full version on CD. For those who came to like Bread later in their career or more recently in time, their st LP (simply titled "Bread") is a great place to start. Some very different sounds on that LP and a great foundation or primer if you will to what would become one of the greatest groups of the s. This expanded version of the Greatest Hits CD is very good.. nothing wrong with it. But the fact is that their individual LPs had a very different flavor from one to the other. Each was like a novel and read very differently. If you really want to enjoy Bread, I would suggest getting each LP individually. You will not regret it. To get full versions of "Bread" and "Manna" you will have to go outside iTunes but other then that... it's all here....

1. The Best Compilation Ever! - This compilation means the world to me because its was my first exposure to The Beach Boys music (that I can remember). My aunt would play the track cartridge tape on her camper stereo while she, my mom & my cousins drove around. This was about - (not long after the albums release). I just coudn't believe the incredible music coming out of the speakers. I've always loved music but when I heard Endless Summer, I fell in love with music. Not to mention Brian Wilson became my musical hero. My favorite track on this album (of all time, actually) is "The Warmth of the Sun."
Its' such an innocent yet profoundly haunting, beautiful song. It makes my heart ache with a bittersweet melancholy memory of my first love. Regarding the track lineup, I'm so glad Capitol included the version of "Help Me, Rhonda"with the false fade. I'm also grateful for Endless Summer's choice of the mix of "Be True To Your School." I absolutely love "Good Vibrations." But I prefer the album as the tracks were originally released. I remember the track lineup from that track cartridge ... which did not include Good Vibrations.

2. Still my definition of summer - My family didn't have cable TV or a CD player, so my introduction to music came from oldies stations and yard sale items. Endless Summer was one of my first -tracks (purchased circa ?). I quickly became attached to it and remember listening to it in a church basement with day camp circa . We had just finished making tie-dyed t-shirts and I remember the music and the smell of the dye. These are the memories you cling to as time goes by.

3. Must have album - This was the first album my dad bought me back in the 's. I will never forget listening to it on single cassette Ayer he bought me as well. I am going to pass it on to my kids and hope they enjoy it as much as I have. Good music, God memories, timeless sound whether you surf or not!

4. Still cruisin' - In my neighborhood, the day you got your driver’s license, you did three things. Get an under the dash track tape player, wedge speakers for your rear deck, and a copy of Endless Summer. My time was and this album still sounds as good to me now as it did back then. Time has passed, I’ve gotten older, but to this day you can see me with the top down and Endless Summer blasting “All Summer Long”. These are some of the greatest songs ever recorded and they will last for eternity. This is a must have recording for people of all ages.

5. Very classic in its time, and still is. - You can't see it here, but this was a "gatefold" album cover, and when you opened it up, Carl and Dennis were also shown. So it was one large rectangular horizontal piece of art with all Beach Boys shown. Around this time, the Eagles were opening for the Beach Boys in large stadiums, and they were quoted as saying that they couldn't believe all the endless cool Beach Boys songs, one after another, that everybody knew all the words to!!

1. Summer Camp - This song is part of my childhood at summer camp. I attended sleep away camp in Colorado where we lived in tree houses, and this Loggins & Messina album played on repeat in the -track player in our cabin throughout the summer of ‘! It’s beautiful harmonies and wonderful songs from “Best of Friends” are etched in mind, and in my teenage heart. It is terrific to get to listen to it again.

2. Loggins & Messina is 's Rock at it's Best - They didn't frequent the pop charts, but their music is some of the very best of 's rock-n-roll. Their musical diversity and tight vocal harmonies are legendary. The blend of their voices very special indeed. Their concerts sold out regularly and often there were more people attending them and present -hours prior to show time than America, The Eagles, CSN or any of the rest at the peak of the show. You never left a Loggins & Messina concert without the feeling that you had watched and listened to something very special. They are simply the best and this album is an important part of any lover of quality 's music. Every song is a classic; none disappoint.

1. Hey! It's Dream Weaver! - Extremely progressive for it's era & way ahead of it's time Gary Wright's "Dream Weaver" was. He made an masterful album & recorded a legendary song using what was then unheard of & uncoventonal arrangements. Who'd ever heard of a synth in the mid 's years before Giorgio Moroder & groups such as Human League would popularize it? Loved every minute of it! It was great growing up to music such as this. Fond memories, fond indeed. Hey it's Dream Weaver!

1. The best L&M produced - Don't let iTunes steer you wrong. This is absolutely the best album L&M produced. Full Sail runs the gambit from the pop of Lahaina, the ballad of Watching the River Run, the love song of , what else? A Love Song, the progressive rock-and-roll-segued-into-Calypso You Need a Man/Coming to You and the haunting almost Beatlesque ending of Sailing the Wind. L&M did better songs before and after, but they never put together a better compilation than this.

1. …Todd - Said that many times that when things get too difficult to manage and cannot even hire people to help even for a gig or more full time roles then it’s time to really see what is really happening because if It were say hypothetically it was a parent of a child in school and and always attentively makes sure Homework and lessons are completed but still failing not making progress and facing bullying and no tutoring or companionship or friends to be found what do you think the result is going to be???

2. Great sound! - It's hard to find live recordings that instill the live sound magic, but start with this awesome arrangement on "What a Fool Believes". Kenny Loggins has an awesome voice, I like the more funky R&B things he did. Also if you like his voice check out George Michael, similar timbre. enjoy!

3. Loggins At His Very Best - This album was not only in support of the Leap of Faith album, but a benefit to save the Redwoods in Northern California. The music here is all different types, and the mish-mash is a welcome addition to the catalog of Kenny L. All the tracks here represent his many sides, from the Rock workouts on Your Mama Don't Dance, and the Swamp Boogie Piano version of Footloose, to the Jazz and R&B Stylings (My Favorite!) of Love Will Follow, What A Fool Believes, Celebrate Me Home and more. The album fashioned itself on an intimate setting, beautifully played music, and superb performances from everyone, including Guests Shanice and Michael McDonald. There of course was criticism about there being too much latter day material, and too much of a soul influence on the record. The thing of it is, if you look back historically, Loggins did restyle himself, more than once, in a vain of R&B and soulful pop, that to many an ear is incredibly endearing, entertaining and preferred. I usually skip the more rock, or Loggins and Messina (blech!) moments to get to the soulful stuff. His version of Now and Then here will make you emotional, as will the rousing heart stopping minute version of Celebrate Me Home, here shedding it's rootsier sound for soul shouting and a jazzy improv in the middle. What A Fool Believes and This is It become percussive broodingly beautiful numbers with all kinds of goodies to savor. And the Duets with Shanice are both highlights as well. Their voices blend so beautifully together, and they trade off riffs like they've been singing together forever. Note the excited applause when the R&B diva comes back for Love Will Follow. At first, the crowd on I Would Do Anything had a weary "huh?" asthetic to it, but as she brought the audience in, they got into it, and the reaction at the end of both songs shows that she knows what she's doing, and has an affinity for beautiful lilting love songs. For me, you can't go wrong with these songs, and It has only gotten better with age. When I saw the genre listed here as country, I was kind of dissappointed but, let this reviewer tell you...this is the furthest from country you could get. It's an amalglam of Soul/Jazz/Pop/Rock and even new age. It's something for the ages to savor...give it a try! Also Recommended - Celebrate Me Home, Leap Of Faith, The Unimaginable Life (Even after finding out the pair had divorced, this album is still soul stirring and wonderfully made!) Happy Listening!

4. Great Musicianship - The production engineering of this live album is wonderful. Some of the instrumental solos are amazing. Howard Leavy (sp) is an unbelieveable harmonica player. The songs are vintage, yet freshly acoustic, the guest performers are top-flite, and if you really want a treat (and can tolerate the new age preaching) get the DVD.

5. I cant believe i missed this concert! - This is a recording of a live concert that was held in the mountains near Santa Cruz california, about minutes from my home town. I grew up on Loggins and Messina and i love the wonderful harmony that they created with eachother, but my favorite song as a kid was your mama dont dance. This album has a wonderful blues version of that osng as well as a zidako (?) brakedown of Footloose that leads into I'm alright like one song. There are several guest apearances that are great. I wish i had gone to this concert, i was the next person in line when they ran out of tickets, i was the first one told that they were sold out. The concert was also a benefit to make sure that the beautiful california redwoods were kept safe an preserved. This is a must have album.

1. Amazing!!! - Although it's not like any of the originals, it does the job! Whenever I listen to these songs, I'm transported back to my childhood all over again! The song I love most on this is "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo" and it is amazing! It is a must-have for any Disney music lover! Thanks for putting this on itunes!

2. Feels like Disneyland in the Seventies - If you enjoyed televison specials and the parks in the Seventies, then you will probably love this album. Lush harmonies and orchestral arrangements put their mark on many Disney favorites. Not for the Radio Disney set, this album is for the Disney purest who used to watch Lawrence Welk growing up. I love it.

3. Actual Disney songs! from his time! - im absolutely in luv with songs from the lion king, pocohontas mulan and krud, but this stuff is the classic part of disney and gives u that good feeling you get when you hear stuff you liked when you were little :). i used to watch winnie the pooh a lot, but they've changed the song. my little brother's vhs' of them are still pretty old, but they have a different one, and this ones better! wow! but they shud also put a newer disney mix on itunes toooooooo ;)

4. Walt Disney's Greatest Hits - Although this is not my favorite Disney collection, it certainly deserves room on the shelf for any "true" Disney music lover. I'm pretty sure in my assumption that the reviewers giving this stars or less or compared this recording to Lawerence Welk were probably born after . NOTE: This is an old recording. It reminded me of being a kid, strolling down Main Street in California. I think is a recording that Walt would have been proud to put on his label. It's vintage, it's tight, it's harmonious and it's right for some of us. My favorites were Lavender Blue, a Disney/Ives classic, and the Mary Poppins Medley. ENJOY!

5. Disney Muzak - It's something innocuous to put on when your grandparents come over and they're talking about the Lawrence Welk Show. They're uninspired choral arrangements that you hear being played over the speakers at old department stores. Jim Brickman's album of Disney songs may appeal to the same target audience (grandparents, department store shoppers, etc.) with a decidely more modern sound that won't drive you crazy. Hardcore Disney fans may still enjoy this.

1. Underrated. - Honestly this is very good. Very very good. But sit down and listen to Mother Lode for old times sake. It’ll blow your mind how good and how modern and relevant it sounds. These guys were simply without peer in song writing arranging or musicianship. Criminally underrated. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

2. Excellent Album - One of the earliest albums I bought, a couple of years after it came out. I still love listening to it. Loggins and Messina were way underrated back in the 's, in my opinion. I only wish they had included the single version of "Thinking of You", which is much more lively and upbeat than the album version. Single version is almost impossible to find (I found the through E-bay).

3. The Greatest Unknown Duo of the 's - This album is the quinessential of rock/county/jazz all in one. Golden Ribbons(anti war song-Vietnam) will give you chills. Angry eyes(break-up) has the best soulful sax solo,Till the Ends Meet(romance) Loggins voice is the best ever. If I had one album of theirs I pick this followed by Sittin'-In.I've given this cd as gifts to various friends who never really knew L&M but are fans now years later.Your Mama Don"t Dance might be the worst song of the bunch here. Buying this Loggins & Messina album and Sittin' In might be the best $. ever spent on music.

4. Loggins and Messina (Angry Eyes) - This album takes me back!! This is a s MASTERPIECE!! This is one of those albums that if your grandchildren ask you about the "Good ol' Days? .... You'd throw this one on!! This album is tender ... it rocks, has GREAT harmony and guitar work. THERE IS NOTHING MEDIOCRE about this one! The term is used a lot ... but this album is truly a CLASSIC!!!!

5. iTUNES WATCH UP !!! Loggins AND Messina - This is a classic Loggins AND Messina album. Why is this listed as Kenny Loggins? He never could have made this without Messina. Well worth the price of admission - music deep in structure, form, melody, harmony, and arrangement. Hard press to find that in pop music in ... But it's Loggins AND Messina iTunes.

1. One of my ALL TIME FAVs - I purchased this album way backin with my high school best friend. We baught it on a Friday night at the mall, back when record stores were in every mall. The songs on this album have stayed with me over years, and was a welcome add to my iTunes library. Highly recommend to anyone who was a Loggins fan in the s. You won't be disappointed.

2. Kenny Loggins: Alive - Having seen Kenny loggins in , & with the band that he recorded all this live stuff with I can honestly say that this album is exactly what you heard live. Tris Imboden on drums, George Hawkins on bass and a young Guitar player that played his butt off by the name of Mike Hamilton. Hamilton is one of the best players I've seen live and he is a solo touring artist from what I gather today. Not to mention De Costa on percussion. I was amazed at Hawkins and Imbodens timing and ability to keep such a great metre throughout the entire set. Not to mention Hawkins great backing vocals. If you like sharp harmonies and crisp recording this album is a must. Listen to it at a moderate volume and it is a kickin record. Listen to it at low volume and it' nice "easy listening" ( I'm sorry if that phrase offends anyone). It's just a good listen with great musicianship all the way through it.

1. Where is Twin Sons of Different Mothers? - No Resemblance Whatsoever, done in is a great follow-up to the duo's first album, Twin Sons, done in . DF and TW made excellent music together--truly something special and very memorable. Both seemed to give each other something extra in their collaborative efforts that is truly a joy to any listener and lover of music. iTunes needs to bring back Twin Sons. As DF states on the back of the Twin Sons album: "This album constitutes a collaboration, experimental in nature....and a hell of a lot of fun". The results speak for themselves.

2. No Resemblance Whatsoever - On of the underrated gems of Dan Fogelberg's music. His guitar work on 'Todos Santos', his upbeat 'Windward', his seductive 'Is This Magic' and his excellent cover of 'Songbird' are just the highlights. 1. Very folky; A promising start for Linda R. ! - Very pleasant, owing much more to - American folk music scene than the country rock she would soon become identified with (and indeed, a genre which Linda helped to create). First track is my favorite, Sweet Summer Blue & Gold, with its three part harmonies and sounding more like a traditional British folk song than an American folk tune. Wish they would have done more material in that vein.

1. Don McLean’s Classic Early Seventies Masterpiece. - Back in the early seventies Don McLean had a monster hit with his poppy folk “American Pie”.
The song was an instant hit for McLean and one of my favorite songs of that year (). Also, on the album “American Pie” was a second hit “Vincent” which did quite well. If there’s one song from the early seventies you need to diwnload it’s the full seven minute version of “American Pie”.

Overall, this collection includes songs from Kalapana’s first album and succeeding albums in the decades to come. 1. A Sign of What's to Come - I was converted to this after hearing them as 's Alternative Breakthrough Artist of the Year here on iTunes. The first two songs are fantastic. They love reverb and are an excellant guitar band. They do things with them I could never do. Check out their self-titled debut. Its one of the best debuts i've ever heard. Back to the EP, its an EP. But still a good one.

1. With Hindsight - I was a teenager and fan with Bobby Vee was making his early hits, some of which still have a certain charm though dated. Most of the songs on this “Very Best” package are very weak and suffer from the cheesy production of the time. In particular, the orchestration is way overdone on many songs like “Run to Her”, so that Vee’s voice is all but buried in the mix. He had a pretty good pop voice, but I now listen with the feeling that he was working with songs that are poor syrupy pop and this is all lost in a time warp.

1. Every song on this album is great. - Stephen Bishop is my favorite musician. He has written so many great songs and sings them with the most beautiful voice. The arrangements are perfect. This is my favorite album of his. This is quite sophisticated music. I love this album most when I am able to sit and listen hard to the songs.
