1. Helps me relax - This meditation music is the best I have ever heard for really helping me to relax. It’s just the right combination of moving notes to make it interesting and smoothness and softness to make it not distracting. There are ten tracks, each one ten minutes long, so you won’t have to look at a clock to know when ten or twenty minutes have passed. I first discovered it on Apple Music, but I want to be sure I can keep it if I ever quit the Apple Music plan, so I bought my own copy from the iTunes store.

1. Excellent documentary soundtrack - This was the first time I heard Brian Eno’s music. The atmospheric soundtrack emphasizes the vastness and vacuum of space, without intruding into the scenes of the documentary. As ambient music, it is fine, however listening to it without watching the documentary is doing yourself an injustice. The documentary is absolutely amazing-I remember seeing the moon landing live. But it was only flashes of television news, the video and audio at the time was so primitive it was hard for me to get a feeling of what it was really like. And being only years old, I didn’t realize the historical magnitude of what was happening. The documentary itself actually fleshes that story out. It (the film) is now called “For All Mankind”. If you have never seen it you must. It is sometimes shown on TCM, and also has been shown on PBS as well.

1. Music To Be Born To - Music to be Re-Born To - It’s hard to imagine the modern music scene without Eno’s ambient influences. This album, along with a few other ambient CDs of his, Harold Budd’s and some great Jazz graced the ambience of my son’s life booth before and after his birth. I believe that such streaming light truly assists the growing mind. Eno & Budd, in their seminal experiments in ambient ‘space’ music truly created Music To Be Born To. Perhaps it will work as well when I shuffle off the mortal coil? In the true spirit of ambient space music this set of recordings, as well as Eno’s Plateaux of Mirror are truly landmark recording sessions. Like other artists who experimented with ambient forms (including psychedelic ambient rock like the Grateful Dead’s ‘Dark Star’) Eno (who arguably was the first to coin text term and experiment deeply with ambient forms) and Budd (whose textural landscapes like those of the Rooms recordings) have produced recordings that provide the Musical Set and Setting perfect for intense ego-reduction sessions, where music enhances for geometry to the point that is becomes revealed as the etheric media itself. These musical “psychedelic expressionist” forms are the perfect antidote for nervous system damage! This album is a classic, and it belongs in the collections of everyone who seeks to find within: manifests the quintessential -dimensional timbral landscape in the mind of a seeker. Music To Be Born To - Music to be Re-Born To!

2. Simply the greatest ambient recording...ever - I've been listening to this for nearly years now (thank you KCRW for playing "Late October" one early fall evening in !) and, amazingly, it never grows old or sounds stale. Rather, each play seems new and invigorating, offering heretofore undetected textures and moods. A true landmark and, without question, the single greatest ambient recording of all time.

1. One small misgiving - I have a good number but not all of Loscil's albums, First Narrows, Plume, Strathcona Variations, Endless Falls, Sketches from New Brighton, & now, Sea Island. I am right there with the many reviewers who extoll praises on this excellent body of multi-dimensional, profoundly affecting work. I keep my Loscil albums together in a playlist for those times when I want an extended Loscil listening experience, straight through or shuffled. I was excited to use an iTunes gift card to purchase a new Loscil album, Sea Island. I am thrilled with it. It fits very nicely in my playlist with just one exception. For me, the best pieces (songs, if you must) in this genre create audio spaces that can be explored anew with each listen. In the Sea Island album, I find one track that I cannot listen to in that manner, "Bleeding Ink". The voice singing on this track completely occupies the foreground of the audio space &, for me, prevents the multi-faceted, in-depth listening I find possible on all the other tracks. I simply do not include "Bleeding Ink" in my Loscil playlist, nor do I include "The Making of Grief Point" from the Endless Falls album.

2. Welcome to Sea Island...please enjoy your stay. - I have been counting down the days for this new release by Loscil and finally that day has come and it leads up to it's expectations in full. It's as if Alan Watts Cliff Martinez and the Myst/Riven games had a love child. I first came across the album Endless Falls and fell in love, it's as if the album was channeled to me...weird I know but if you're on the same wave length you will know exactly what I mean. Each album holds it's own and are so deep and full of mystery that they carry out these amazing stories without the need of any lyrics. I can explain all day but it will do no justice...trust me when I say Sea Island is another amazing feat and I'm
sure this album will be on loop for a long time just like all the previous ones were. Buy this and spread the word to all your friends and enemies because there is an appreciation that must not go unnoticed. Thank you Loscil for these mood changing escapes!

1. Speechless.. - I feel like I've been waiting years for this. I have been waiting over a year for this but dern, I wasn't prepared! I've said it before, but I've seriously never encountered music or an artist as ethereal as Henry Green. It's like opening your eyes to a vision of the entire galaxy in front of you, aimlessly floating on a bed of stars and all you can hear is the music washing over you in waves, while celestial beings enrapture you with everything you could never have on earth dramatic yet accurate representation for how his music transports me. Never gets old either. Thank you Henry!

2. Very Good - Even though I am avery picky person in music tastes, I have found my musical equivalent to a soul mate. This is one of the only tracks I can listen to thoroughly without getting bored quickly and I am always fluctuating between which one is my favorite! P.S. The marimba sounding instrument in 'Holding On' is exhilarating!

1. Top Shelf Ambient - False Readings On is an ambient masterpiece. It's an course audio feast where each track takes you somewhere, makes you feel something specific without overwhelming you, and then just as you've almost had enough, you move onto the next track. Fugue State with its beautiful operatic vocals and Regenerative Being with its warming and healing sound were the two highlights. The sound is thick, rich, and the very best of what ambient has to offer now and in the past.

1. Cool sounds (if you already like David Lynch) - If you are a fan of Twin Peaks: The Return, you will probably like this. The sounds are at times mellow, at (a lot of) times weird. When I listen to it, I try to remember what scene the sounds came from. It's a lot of fun, but for fans only, unless you are into dark, ambient music.

2. Twin Peaks The Return: dark ambient soundscapes - As you can see by Solitaryman's review, this work won't be to everyone's taste. However, if you have an interest in dark ambient music, and/or soundscapes from 's Twin Peaks: The Return, then this is exactly for you! Sometimes quiet, sometimes jarring, always unsettling; these are ambient soundscapes, not "noise" (power electronics/noise is quite a different genre.) Dean Hurley has been working with David Lynch for years, through numerous albums and film works, always contributing greatly to the mysterious atmosphere. If you're looking for structured music, look elsewhere. If you're looking for dense, suffocating mood, you've come to the right place. Let's (pet) Rock!

3. ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!! - I've waited my whole life for something like this. I'm waiting to see if anyone is actually fool enough to purchase this....noise version of the pet rock. And if some fools do lay out $ for this, remember what P.T. Barnum once said......"There's a sucker born every minute."
Just sayin'.

1. Another great LP from Tim Hecker - Before the Electronic Elements of this LP, Hecker went to a Temple, little outside of Tokyo, and recorded Traditional Japanese Musicians playing Traditional Japanese Music. On the CD, the physical form that I own, the Japanese Instrumentation sounds much more rich. Not to say that the Digital form sounds bad, my personal take. Stange and eerie Drones and Soundscapes with the Japanese Instrumentation make for another great listening experience.

1. Stunning. Intoxicating. A new favorite. - I got familiar with Gunn’s earlier work years ago while working as a DJ at a college radio station (NPR format). I’ve always known I could listen to an album of his and just escape, but there’s something extra special about this one. Just completely absorbing, soothing, and intoxicating. I can listen to it on repeat for hours. Treat yourself to this one. Pure enjoyment start to finish. “Fallen” is a real gift to the senses. The vocals are a perfect match for these tracks.

2. A Review of Prolific Electronic Composer Nicholas Gunn’s New Album Pacific Blue - Nicholas Gunn is a prolific and impressive composer. With over albums to his credit, he has reached millions with his music over the world and also is on countless music productions. I listened to his varied catalog that includes records such as “Encanto,” “Breathe,” and “Journey to Yellowstone.” I was interested in hearing this new record from such a talented composer. He based in the UK and studied at the Royal Academy of Music. I can listen and understand the classical training in his work. The first track on the album is “Into the Vastness”. It’s a very moving piece that begins with a drone pad. It sounds cinematic with retro arpeggiated synths that seem straight out a futuristic film (Blade Runner anyone?). I enjoy the building of the theme and the way he slowly plays with the dynamics. If you are a fan of artists like Vangelis and the film Blade Runner, you have to check out this track! The next track is “And I” featuring vocalist Alina Renae. Alina has a lovely voice that brings emotion to this powerful, emotional ballad. “Sailing” is the next track that begins softly with synth leads and has ocean sound effects that blend nicely with the music. It starts to pick up with a steady trance beat that develops the progression.
“Chasing the Light” is the next track begins with piano and a light synth pulsing lead. Nicholas takes his time creating the vibe in his introductions and brings a chill mood. The next track, “Fallen,” featuring the lovely vocalist Alina Renae again, is another solid track between the composer and vocalist with pulsating synth leads and shimmering piano.
“Adrift,” the next track beings with soft wave sounds and synth leads trading back and forth in conversation. A light, chill beat comes in the background with rising synth pads. Beautiful! Next up is “Float” that began with a soft echo synth leads and sampled vocal, builds, and then fades.
The title track “Pacific Blue” featuring Alina Renae is next. It begins with a minor chord that brings out the sad emotion that is the vibe of this song as she sings about love lost. “Coast” is next, another chill piece with light synth lead with a background pad. I could easily see this used in documentary, film, or TV. “Out From the Deep,” the last track on the record, features once again Alina Renae. Nicholas takes his time building the intro into a stunning climax into this record. This one is my second favorite with the first track, “Into the Vastness,” being my favorite.
Indeed this has been one of my favorite records to listen and review so far for . This album releases on April th everywhere on all digital formats. I highly recommend it!

3. Another supremely blissful offering from one of chillout music’s finest! - Nicholas Gunn is an English recording artist who first rose to prominence in the early s with his innovate soundscape music that explored themes of the American Southwest. Among his iconic works include the landmark albums The Sacred Fire and The Music of the Grand Canyon, which helped to shape what was then an emerging style of music commonly dubbed ‘ethnic fusion’, and having remained widely popular since. But these days Gunn has shifted his focus from world flute vistas to electronic dance culture with his trance music recording moniker Limelght. He’s also continued releasing works under his own name, but in a more ambient/chillout style that's on similar par with Schiller, Blank & Jones or (Above and Beyond presents) Oceanlab. Following his stunning full-length release, Riding the Thermals, Gunn has returned with the equally enthralling Pacific Blue for another sensual voyage into Balearic ambient-trance. Drawing much of its inspiration from the ocean, the album paints vivid images of open waters, sunny seacoasts and endlessly blue horizons. The gorgeous opener “Into the Vastness” sets sail with dance-trance sequencer patterns accentuated by sparse piano notes and cinematic swells, which effectively evoke oceanic waves crashing upon the shore. Joining Gunn once again on a handful of cuts is singer Alina Renae. Her sultry vocals deliver accessible melodies on highlights like “Fallen” and “Out from the Deep”, which perfectly compliment the overall beachy and breezy vibe of the compositions. My favorite piece on here is “Sailing”, an epic chill-trance instrumental that intensely bursts forth with electrifying passion while culminating into a whirlpool of sonic ecstasy. Additionally layering in both fluidly electric and warmly acoustic guitars along the way, Gunn's lushly organic-electronic soundscapes often convey a sense of euphoric escapism and wishful longing. An indisputable musical legend in the realm of atmospheric and electronic music, Nicholas Gunn can demonstrably transition from one style of music to the next, both masterfully and authentically. Another supremely blissful offering from one of ambient/chillout’s finest, Pacific Blue is a must-have album that deserves to be on everyone’s summer playlist!

4. Album Review by Dyan Garris, New Age CD - The beauty and magnificence of this emotionally stirring album almost renders me speechless. Deep as the ocean, ‘Pacific Blue’ is exceptional in every detail. – Dyan Garris Nicholas Gunn, born and raised in the U.K., is well-known for creating music centered on our greatest natural wonders. “Pacific Blue” is the th album release for this multi-talented, Billboard-charting, musician, composer, and producer. “Pacific Blue” is a metaphor for our journey; our lives and our emotions are as deep, wide, and vast as the ocean, and the many currents and undercurrents of life ebb and flow throughout. Not traditionally, “New Age,” this is more in the “Contemporary” zone. “Pacific Blue” is tracks: excellent, soul-stirring, electronic, instrumentals and outstanding vocal performances by Alina Renae. All the music here is alive, with a distinct pulse, breath, and a heartbeat. The album opens with the expansive, sweeping, aptly named, “Into the Vastness.” This is gorgeous, beginning with a droning pad underneath, and builds nicely into a wide, cinematic feel. This is the perfect opener to lead us into even more deeply into the ocean of magnificence. Following is “And I,” an emotional, heart-centered ballad with dreamy, thoughtful piano and the first vocal performance from Alina Renae on the album. A favorite, I have to say, this gave me chills and actually brought me to tears. Stunningly beautiful, it is definitely one for the playlist. “Hey, I just came here to say. I am sorry for all the pain. Those days when I was running from my life... And I . . . Have finally found a way to say. . . I love you.” The exciting, exuberant, “Sailing” follows, and we are off on an exhilarating voyage. Electronica with ocean sounds, you’d swear you are actually ON that sailboat, feeling the salty sea breeze and glorious sun on your face as you sail along on the journey of life. It’s good to be alive. “Chasing the Light” is light and graceful. Wonderful beat and skillfully woven guitar make this a soul-soothing experience. “Fallen” is the second vocal performance here by Alina Renae. We have a mildly percolating, mesmerizing beat and the lyrics are wonderful as well. “It’s like I never lived my life. . . until I looked into your eyes. . .” Calming ocean sounds lead us nicely into “Adrift.” Melodic, meditative electronica creates a very chill atmosphere. Great guitar here adds to that. This is an expansive song that gives us a truly peaceful feeling. Really love this. It’s another for the playlist. “Float” is an atmospheric dream with wordless vocals along with ethereal sounds. Here, we are indeed floating. This is very relaxing. Title track is the third vocal performance by Alina Renae. This song opens with calming ocean sounds. A great World beat accompanies percolating layers of brilliance. There’s something about this song that has an eternal, timeless quality. Yes, it’s brilliant. “I lost my way and almost strayed but found the path to our Pacific Blue.” I found “Coast” to be very hypnotic. This is graceful, flowing, and ultra-relaxing. Love the guitar here. Yet another for the playlist. Leading us out of the album is, “Out from the Deep” featuring another vocal from Alina Renae. The song has an ethereal, plaintive quality. It feels like light emerging; an epic birth, back into our own “Pacific Blue.” “Pacific Blue” is a breathtakingly beautiful album. Love it all, including the edgy cover art, which lets us know we are in for something truly special. Available as a digital album only. Beyond excellent.

1. Review - Although pricey for a scant minutes of music, every track is worth more than a casual or single listen. Intended as a "companion" to the far stronger Fractured, I'm not convinced this longish EP deserved a separate release. I would have preferred it to be fully integrated with Fractured, or included as bonus tracks or an EP with the previous release. Nevertheless, i'm glad to have purchased it. It adds mood and texture to the more dynamic Fractured and I prefer to listen to both together, alternating tracks. As one, they make for an outstanding Lunatic Soul release.

1. A Nuanced Vignette - Supremely well composed, pensive, and subtle in its style. There is an abundance of thought within each piece that seem to portray a nuanced vignette for a special place and time. Its a quiet day spent in the impressionist wing at the great museum, or alone at home tending the needs of your garden. "LESS" may be the loneliest composition will have heard in a very long time. Its a time to reflect.

1. Another great one - This album conveys both intimacy and the sense of great space. There is always a subtle sense of longing in John and David's work which is very compelling to me. There are wonderful dynamics in this record as well which is uncommon for most ambient artists and is a powerful attribute. This music takes you places yet invites you to dive deep inward untill all of your secrets can be FOUND. Keep the music coming guys.

2. A Must Find - Let me just say that music has a profound emotional effect on me. So when I like a song, I feel it. I picked up this album the day it came out, I am a fan of these guys, and their solo work. For years I used to sleep out all summer long under star filled desert skies listening to music like this. This album brings that back to life for me. The Opening - Nice song, but lacked a certain punch that I would like to hear at the outset. This could also be a nice ending. Sun Racer - The best song on the album and honestly one of their best songs on all their albums. This song makes me cry with happiness. I do not know why, but it really fills me up. I did not want this song to end, wishing there was more and more added to it. I love this song and would love to play this and add more of what I see in my head. Through and Through, Almost Never, Lost, Only Ashes, Through Tears fill a middle that lacks a lot of life. Still like a lot of their previous albums, I like it, but I wish there was something more to them. That doesn’t stop me from listening and recommending their work. These songs just feel sparse and empty in a way. Edge of Tomorrow returns some life to the album and I really enjoy this song as well. This song has a different feel from the rest of their songs and I like the variety it seems to bring. Found also is unique as it features a person’s voice. I think the first time in any of their songs. It was a nice song, but again seemed to return to empty space. For the Ages comes crashing in at the end, but only half way through the song and I think I would have made this the first song on the album. It is a good song and I think provides the life this album seems to need. Found is a lot like the previous albums, Treasure and The Crossing, but contains enough uniqueness that I could recommend it. David and Jon are insanely great in this genre of music. One of the few left out there in New Age/Space Music that really capture what I remember listening to as a kid. If there is any song you need on this album though, it is Sun Racer. I only wish there was more like this one. For more like Sun Racer check out David Helpling’s Sleeping on the Edge of the World and Between Green and Blue.

3. Best of Already. - Wow, kids. Musicians making music playing instruments! Passionate, deep, celestial, vivid, symphonic and brilliantly produced. If what you're looking for is a soundtrack to life full of original ideas and performances then look no further. If you haven't given these guys a chance before then this is a good time to do so. Long time fans will be far from disappointed, as this is a continuation of recordings that have been entirely satisfying. Perfectly timed with the winter and fall seasons as well!

1. Upbeat ambient awesomeness - You either like what Solar Fields produces or you don’t. Some folks find it too buzzy and/or irritating. I find the droning to be soothing. Unlike much of electronic music, ambient or otherwise, the songs in Solar Fields’ Green are not repetitive. They take their time building and are thusly satisfying. They are not compositionally complex, hence the ambience, but varied enough to be engaging. The remastered songs are of the highest audio quality. Headphones on, and you’ll be transported.

1. From MainlyPiano - "Liquid Mind XIV: Simplicity" is the eighteenth album from Liquid Mind (Chuck Wild) and continues his mission to create some of the most peaceful music you're going to find anywhere. Liquid Mind's music is music with a purpose and is intended for relaxation, meditation and sleep. The seven tracks on Simplicity range from a little more than seven minutes to a little more than twelve, allowing the listener to become fully immersed in the music so that it can work its magic. I found this quote on Chuck Wild's "Wikipedia" page fascinating: "The Liquid Mind series was born from my struggle with panic attacks and anxiety while co-scoring the Emmy Award-winning American Broadcasting Company television series 'Max Headroom' with composer Michael Hoenig. During the same period more than of my friends, associates, and family members died of HIV and cancer. To help heal from the panic, a counselor suggested that I write music representing the way I wanted to feel. This resulted in the first Liquid Mind album, 'Ambience Minimus,' completed in . "When I discovered this music was effective in healing my own anxiety and panic attacks, and with the encouragement of fellow artist Suzanne Doucet, I decided to release it through major distribution. The ultimate compliment to me is that people fall asleep to my music. Liquid Mind is functional music, assisting us to be tranquil at those times when that may not be easy." There are few composers with as much love for slowness in their music as Chuck Wild! He draws from classical and pop influences as diverse as Beethoven and Brian Eno, Bartok and Rachmaninoff, Bach, Chopin and Fauré, Duruflé and Brahms. Not only is the music relaxing with its effortless, slowly-flowing sounds, it seems to wrap the listener in a soothing warmth of optimism and well-being. Liquid Mind's music could actually serve as the definition of "ambient music," as there are no distinct melodies, themes or tempi, and listening deeply feels very much like the way I would expect it would feel to float peacefully on a fluffy white cloud. With our crazy, divided, violent, scary, stressful world, it seems like it would be helpful for everyone to listen to Liquid Mind's music every day before venturing out and then again when returning home. What a difference that could make! I think it is significant to mention that "Liquid Mind XIV: Simplicity" made its debut on World Mental Health Day (October , ) on Pandora, the largest ad-supported audio entertainment streaming service in the U.S. I think almost all of us could use some peace and calm in our world, and I thank Chuck Wild for his vision as well as the beauty of his music.
