1. Ultimate Manilow - Had to buy Bandstand Boogie after the passing of Dick Clark, the LEGEND of our baby boomer generation. And then had to buy several other tunes by Manilow…I had all his albums when I was growing up and now am repurchasing my favorite tunes by him. Copa Cabana, I made it through the Rain…so many GREAT songs by this great artist. Brings back many memories of friends, places…I am re-enjoying his music all over again.

2. The Cream Of The Crop - This single cd was released before Arista was blended into Sony and it preceeds "The Essential Barry Manilow" two disc set. The sides on this set are perfectly sequenced and well mastered. Compared to the remasters recently released this single set holds up a bit better soundwise. This cd is perfect for the fan looking for just the hits, "When October Goes" from Barry's jazz lp " A.M. Paradise Cafe" isn't live like the song listing suggests, the song was recorded "live" in the studio however, making the listing half right. The import version features the duet "Blue" recorded with Sarah Vaughn also from " A.M. Paradise Cafe" and features Barry's foray into techno-pop "You're Lookin' Hot Tonight" from his original "Greatest Hits Volume " lp released in . Again for the absolute essential, it's here.

3. This is a great collection of songs! - Just saw him in concert at the Las Vegas Hilton, and before he went on, they flashed the names of all his hits across the screen. I had forgotten half othem - Could It Be Magic, Tryin to Get the Feeling Again, Daybreak. Amazing how many hits he had. He put on a great show, and sounded good even though he had taken some songs down a notch. But he did sing Weekend in New England in the original key. ha ha Still a great entertainer and his songs do stand the test of time, some are so beautifully orchestrated. Great piano as well.

4. So great!! - This music takes me right back to my childhood. I remember buying his records in the days when you listened to them over and over pouring over every inch of the album cover. I hadn't listened to Manilow in a while..so glad I found him again. Could It Be Magic..gave me goose bumps all over again.

5. Great Collection - I have to admit I'm a bit of a closet Fanilow! This is a great collection and the sound quality is really excellent compared with some of this other greatest hits collections (these sound like remastered versions). Too bad When Will I See You Again is not included, since that's one of my favorites. Still great!

6. A Must Have for somethings too - This album is a must have for all young'ns born in the early 's. It brings back wonderful childhood memories of my parents being young and my sister and I not having a single care in the world. I remember my mom buying the Even Now LP when I started kindergarten and she played it every morning while getting us ready for school. She wore that sucker out. She has since replaced it on CD.....and wore that out too. I think she has gone through copies of it! Anyway, I developed my own tastes for the harder newer stuff, but Barry Manilow is legendary. Love him!

1. The beauty of her voice lives on - I've only heard songs, though I have her original recordings. All you need to do is listen to Songbird to know that this entire effort is wirthy of Eva's talent. I wish we had the chance to watch and hear this beautiful voice share the emotion she expressed for more years than she had to give us. Eva was a talent who is missed. This will be a wonferful way to share her gift one more time.

1. This album is amazing - I bought this album for my phone for music when I go to bed and for my car rides because I love it that much - plus I only have a CD player in my car. However, I work with kids and during nap time I will play this album for background noise. Everyone at the center I work for loves it SO much that a couple of teachers went and bought the album for their infant classrooms during nap time! Amazing job, it is by far my favorite

2. Inspiration - As I sit here listening to Poclean, I feel as if life, this beautiful mystery, is unfolding around me. These notes move me to tears and stir in me longing, sorrow, hope, desperation, and a dream. Her notes encapsulate and exemplify a wealth of emotional experiences. It amazes me that something so eloquently simple is yet so complexly choreographed. I am moved beyond words and I am thankful for her contribution not only the industry, but also to the music that reflects the human experience.

3. PORCELAIN BY HELEN JANE LONG - I found this artist on You Tube and proceeded to lose her and her touch and art and mediums of music . Now I have found here again , I have found I can no longer buy this CD on open market new in my area of USA. So now I turn to iTunes as a means of being able to listen to her again and again as I wish to and to feel and see in the music beyond all words ...

4. Perfect piano music to me - It's hard for me to find the right kind of piano music (since there isn't a name for what ever it is that I like) but every song on this album fits perfectly, and for six bucks I it was a no brainer. I'm glad I ran into this artist and album on Pandora, good piano music is difficult to search for.

5. Pandora Sigur Ros AWESOME! - So, I generally listen to Sirius/XM at nite but decided to go with Sigur Ros on Pandora. Four songs in a row led me to iTunes and I decided to leave a comment here. Like others have mentioned, this is the sound of what I hope heaven's soundtrack will be. I'd rather not see another day than to miss even a second of sound. -RCJG

6. Up lifted my mood - I was laying in bed listening to pandora on my iPhone and this artist came on. This whole week has been stressful and I have been way depressed. I downloaded this whole album and I really am not kidding when I said that this has made my whole week. I love how you can feel the emotion through the arrangements. :-) thanks again

7. Peaceful Bliss - I purchased songs. I listened to them and I knew I had to have the entire album. That is rare for me, as I like to graze, but this music is not grazing material. I feel like it fully supports my zen and fills me entirely with a peace and bliss that makes me want to smile ear to ear. Everyone needs this album to enrich their soul and fill their mind with nurturing thoughts. I am thankful for finding this artist. This CD will get a lot of play time. Wonderful to listen to as you read or surf the net. You will find yourself much more productive.

8. Thank You Pandora - I was listening to the Classics channel on Pandora the other night while trying to fall asleep when this song came on. I was almost asleep but it just hit me so hard I had to wake up to see what it was. It was Expression. I didn't want the song to end. I've listened to almost all her other songs on this album and I love them all. But so far Expression and Doll are my favorites. As soon as I have the money I will be buying this album. I have her station on Pandora along with a station for three of her songs. So thank you Pandora for opening my eyes up to this artist!

9. Pure beauty - I came across Helen Jane Long's Expression on Pandora. When the song came on it stopped me in my steps and demanded my attention, heart and soul. Such a beautiful song. It almost brought tears to my eyes. I thought I'd check out her whole album, Porcelain. I loved it. She does an amazing job breaking away the everyday drag and numbness and awakens all your senses. Her conviction will leave you speechless . All i can say is you must hear it for yourself. Amazing!

10. Riveting - Makes you think... if there was anything more beautiful make it appear before me... and you'll sit in wonder as you sit and stare into space while you listen to the true music that pours from this woman's soul into your own feeling it flow like the rivers of tears falling from your cheeks.
2011-05-29
11. Emotion I have not seen in years - She pours a level of emotion, of passion, and of purity that I believe is extremely rare with contemporary music. She harkens back to an era where making music was a skill for masters not auto-tuned drug addicts. I long thought that the state of music as we progress as a civilization gets more and more degraded, however she has shown a beacon of hope in a musically deaf world: that being not the creation of notes in a pattern, but rather a gateway into the collective soul of humanity.

1. An Excellent Twist on Timeless Classical Music - Very rarely in my life did any kind of music come along that I, my brother and my parents all liked unanimously. "Hooked on Classics" is one such piece of music. I remember when my parents bought the record (Anybody here old enough to remember those things?). It was playing constantly in our home during parties my parents threw or whenever. I always enjoyed hearing it and I never got tired of it. The memories of our party guests dancing to the album's opening song are still vivid in my mind. The contemporary twist on the classic tunes helped make the music appeal to all genarations which is one of the reasons why it is such a great album. Though the album spawned a sequal and a horde of immiators nothing is better than the original "Hooked on Classics". I'm very happy the album is now available on iTunes. You can't just download one or two songs, you need to download the whole thing. Do so. I guarantee you won't be disappointed!

2. Great album, and a great intro into the world of classical music - I know alot of critics who slam these albums, as not true classical music. And what they say is true, the hooked on the classics albums are not ture classical music, but what they do is bring classical music to a much wider audiance. When I was a kid my parents had this albums and they always used to play them in the car. And thanks to these albums, as a young kid I got into the world of classical music. Now I enjoy the works of Mahler and Wagner, but if it hadn't been to these albums I would never of got my love of classical music.
Just on a side note, my wife hates classical music but she likes these albums!!!

3. A good classical music introduction for children - The bad news: If you love classical music, then you'll hate this. The good news: If you want to introduce your children/toddlers to classical music in a way that they will initially enjoy it, then this might be for you. Is it classical music? Yes and no. It's classical in the sense that it has multiple snippets of classical 'classics' taped together and set to a disco beat. So, it's fast enough to dance to, something most children enjoy. I, like others, listened to this when I was an impressionable year-old and it was my introduction to classical music. After having worn the tape out on this, I was able to identify bits of classical music when I turned it to the 'old people's station'. From there, I have learned to enjoy a good sonata or a symphony. I would listen to my local classical station and recall a bit of some tune they played. It helped to transition me to true classical music.

4. Mom used to play it - My mom had all of these albums. This was my intro to classical music. I'm not lying to say that it made a difference. I used to sneek into her record collection and put it on. Now I'm older and love classical. I don't think it's an accident. Yes, I did buy the album on iTunes to horrify my friends, but hey, it's less than lattes and totally worth it both for the nostalgia and the vomit factor. I mock it with my friends, but it's on my shuffle for the workouts...

5. Hooked on Classics - What can I say about this awesome album. This brings back so many memories growning up and my mom would play this on her record player and me and my sisters and brother would clean the house to this. We always liked the upeat tempos and the percusions. This is one album I knew I had to have on my I-pod... thank you I tunes for making it available.
2009-04-04
6. Hooked on Classic with a rock beat is just annoying - The rock beat that has been added to an otherwise very nice medley is too overbearing... and it is the same on every track. The price was good but I don't think I'll be listening to it much. I don't think I'll be buying any other "Hooked On..." albums for fear of the same problem.
2009-02-10
7. Great Now as it was then... - I remember listening to this when I was little. A great medley of all the great classics with an added twist of percussion and heightened Tempo. Easy on the mind and gentle on the ears, they have finally put Hooked on Classics on Itunes...the real one...not the fake one that they have had forever...

1. Hooked me on the classics - It was ’something and ‘Hook on Classics pt’ play on the radio station . WKTU. It was a completely different sound at the end of the disco era. As a teen it led me to buy the album then it led me to recognize such classical songs in movies which led me to buy classical albums and appreciate classical music ever since. I forgot all about this album until today when I was looking for music by Edward Elgar and saw related choices. I have the vinyl record but now I have it on iTunes.

2. Really wonderful - I never would have heard of half this music before if 'Hooked' had not uncovered this for me. For instance "Dance of the Furies" was so wonderful that I sought out the original version, which opened up a whole new wonder for me. I also enjoy these songs as face paced workouts which I find quite fun. Please don't have a closed mind to these. Give them some time. They're great at what they do!

3. Happy this album is on iTunes - I had all of the Hooked On Classic cassett tapes in the 's and listen to them while in my sewing room or on the treadmill. My kids grew up listening to them in the car. I have an year old grandson that is musically inclined and showing an appreciation of Classical music. Besides being delighted to get this music on my iPod, I am sending my Wyatt a iTunes gift card ( I bet his mother will like hearing these classics again)

4. Long lost fun - Oh my goodness, I remember listening to this with my mum when I was young. This was my first introduction to classical music and as a kid I loved it, never realizing it was classical music. This is such a fun album! I thought of this album while I was searching for something else; the image of the album flashed in my mind, I used to stare at the pretty colours while listening. I am so happy iTunes has it. As I am downloading the songs I am humming and whistling along, I remember every song. What a trip down memory lane! A new iTouch with this album will be a perfect gift for my mum, I am sure she has not heard this album in years.

5. Where's Your Sense Of Fun? - I can't believe the po-faced "devoid of any true musical worth" review at the top of the page. Obviously written by someone with a ludicrously elitist view of the world. Hooked on Classics and its follow-ups introduced thousands of people to classical music for the first time, in a fun way, and encouraged them to explore the conventional recordings. Hooked on Classics is a great piece of musical heritage recorded by one of the world's greatest orchestras. This is MEANT to be fun; it is MEANT to be tongue-in-cheek. What is there not to love?

6. Best Workout Music Ever!! - If you pride yourself on being a purist, this music is probably not for you. I, for one, have yet to find a better album to grind out a good cardio workout to. Each piece tells a story, is recognizable, has a strong beat and (unlike most pop music) never gets old! My dad used to play this when I was a kid so I have a little nostalgia attached as well. These arrangements make classical music fun and accessible.

7. AWESOME, FUN MUSIC! - I first heard this music at Busch Gardens Amusement Park in Williamsburg, Virginia, and absolutely loved it! When I found out what it was called, I immediately came on iTunes and purchased this CD. It's a great bunch of truly awesome classical songs, put to an upbeat tempo with a funky beat going in the background. I find myself dancing, or even just bobbing by head, every time I listen to any of these songs. I'd definitely reccomend it to anyone! Hope you enjoy!

8. How Fun! - I gotta agree...it was a big hit in the s. And it was fun. Maybe it wouldn't cut it today, as everyone is so serious these days, but it brings back great memories. "Hooked on Classics (Pts & )" is a must. But don't overlook "Hooked on Romance" and "Hooked on a Song." If you would like to relive the medley craze of the s, don't overlook the "Hooked on Swing" series. It, too, is worth your time. Have fun, set aside the seriousness of the day, and enjoy!

9. If you like classical music, buy this collection! - If you like classical music you should thoroughly enjoy this collection. Sure it may be a little corny to some, but the upbeat medleys are full of toe-tapping excerpts of some of the best music ever written. It's also a great way to expose young children to the world of classical music. It's a lot of FUN too!

1. Me and Elizabeth Sargent made it - When I look back at the school days of me and Elizabeth we always think about our road trip to hightstown but her having sunstroke really sent shockwaves through me cause I have always loved her as a friend and a person a girl who is such a sweetheart and a nice woman this Barry Manilow song has a special meaning for me and Elizabeth because me and Elizabeth made it to the Engine Co love and I love you Elizabeth very much

2. Precursor To The Boxed Set - This Greatest Hits cd along with volumes and were reconfigured from his first and second hits albums released earlier in his career to create a more comprehensive collection and to take advantage of the remastering process. For this hits collection is well mastered and using three discs with a capacity to hold plus minutes of material gave room to include unreleased songs, though not on this first disc. This three disc set was completed at the same time and marketed to fans who would buy all three discs to own the essential Barry. Four albums were skipped from this collection, 's " A.M. Paradise Cafe," 's "Manilow" because it was recorded for then seperate label RCA, 's "Swing Street" and 's "Barry Manilow." Until the "Essential Collection" was released this was the only source for "Some Kind Of Friend" culled from Barry's "Here Comes The Night."

1. Amazing - If you like owl city or ethereal instrumental music, look no further! Do yourself a favor and buy this album because Adam Young is truly a musical genius. There are a lot of beautiful piano songs and other instrumentals, but none of them take me to a completely new world like this music does. Simply incredible
2013-09-11
2. Beautiful - Adam should've been more popular when he was Port Blue! He is only getting this recognition from the fans of Owl City. Even though I consider myself as a HootOwl, I think The Airship is much, much better than Midsummer Station. I doubt you're reading this, Adam, but please please please get away from bubblegum pop!!!!

3. Surreal and weightless - Port Blue has a way of steering the imagination that I've never heard before. Listening to any of these songs always brings certain pictures and feelings to the surface. I love just closing my eyes and letting my mind wander when listening to Port Blue. Thanks Adam for creating some music that helps me create. My favorites are Up Ship, Over Atlantic City, and Sunset Cruiser.

4. Simply beautiful. - Every song reminds me so much of an airport, or flying, or an airplane, which is what I love so much. If you're going to get a song, get the whole album because it's all equally beautiful and worth your money. My favorite from this album, and Port Blue in general, is The Axial Catwalk. Oh my gosh I love it.

5. Thank you. - I was ALWAYS very anxious right before bed. I don't know why, but its almost always happened. I could never sleep well. But Under The Glass Observation Dome has literally changed my life for the better! SOOO RELAXING! i listened to it before i went to bed and IT WORKED. I am sooo much happier now. Thank you, Port Blue!

6. Breathless - I discovered this album while looking through owl city on itunes about a year ago, just before fireflies hit the radio. Adam's ability to lift me up into happiness is almost unsurpassed by any other band out there. When I discovered port blue, I only bought a few songs, but I was craving more. I quickly bought the whole album and I have no regrets. I've been listening to it for about a year and it doesn't get old (with other music to). Ive shown this music to my friends and family, who listen to pop to rock to oldies, and this album cannot fit into any stereotypical decade; they all love it! Its relaxing, and it is instrumental. The Airship takes you to cities around the world, sometimes by water, sometimes dipping through the clouds. The songs are are named well and fit. This album got me into playing piano; before I listened to this album i could not understand the beauty that can be composed with this instrument. Most of the songs on this album are composed of repetitive yet complex melodies, along with rhythmatic drums, and synths. Theres nothing else like this album; it deserves stars.
2010-10-17
7. Drenched in instrumental, sentimental music - I have to admit, right after I got this album, I listened to it once and
wondered why Adam didn't sing
in it, because he does have a lovely voice. But on my second listen, I realized why and I still remember every time I listen. The best music in the world is ambient. No singing, just everyday noisy scenarios with Background music. I wish I had background music in my life.

8. adam youngs a musical genius - Adam youngs is a genius he has the best music ever!I just found port blue yesterday well i knew about it but I never desided to listen to it till then.I wish itunes would put up more of adams work like Seagull Orchestra and Insect Airport. But im happy I found port blue and I still think Owl City is amazing:)

9. Great Electronic/Ambient Album - The Airship is a great electronic album that makes use of well-directed ambient tones and simple beats. A very unique thing about this album is that the names of the songs correlate very closely to the sounds that are present in the songs. My personal favorite song on the album is 'Under the Glass Observation Dome', where you at first can hear a gentle ambience of sound that brings to mind perhaps an overcast day, and then a series of bouncing beats comes in that could be seen as echoing off the inside edges of the observation dome. Adam Young, the composer, uses a very interesting method of overlapping beats to create many layered semi-synchronous rhythms that work together perfectly in creating the overall piece. The theme of the album is one that is centered around the ocean and boats and other nautical devices, as can be seen both from the titles of the songs and from the melodies that are present within the songs. If you have ever sat and listened to the ocean, you have experienced the combination of rhythms that come from it and the various ways that the come together. The sounds of the ocean are much like the sounds of the wind, as they vary in frequency and intensity, but always combine to form something that seems completely organized. One of the best ways the ocean wind has been captured is by the Aeolian harp, which was one of the first instruments to be played without any human interaction. The natural sounds that were produced by that instrument are very similar to the sounds that are present in these compositions, which could be described as similar to the resonation that occurs when different instruments play in a group and all at the same pitch. The music in these tracks makes perfect metaphors to the titles of the tracks, which is something very difficult to accomplish in the music industry. In Up Ship!, there is an uplifting beat that goes continuously from low to high, and which has a clear ocean or wind ambience in the background. The absence of clear cut beats and notes help to retain the natural aura of the track. With each beat echoing as though it has been struck in nature and is taking its natural course, the song only further envelops the listener. This is truly a great album, as are the others by this band. Adam young is also the composer and vocalist for Owl City, and I would highly recommend the reader to check out that band as well. Similar bands to this are Ulrich Schnauss, Kaskade, and Boards of Canada.

10. I LOVE PORT BLUE - and all other projects by Adam Young. The way he writes his songs, the metaphorical lyrics, not to mention good music, and the fact that he's DIFFERENT makes it all the best. Face it, instrumental music isn't that popular. His music is the one I really can space out into my own little world. Though this is music that's easy to listen to, I don't think Port Blue really fits under the genre. Maybe it'd fit with it's sophomore genre under Electronic.
2009-12-31
11. Metaphorical, Beautiful, Blue - I don't know if this should be easy listening. To me it feels like up-tempo post-rock with other instruments, and insane yet quiet beats. I've never really appreciated a beat until Adam Young (see also Owl City, or Swimming With Dolphins), except for possibly Ratatat, but Adam's manage to be so ethereal yet so complex, and idiosynchratic all at the same time. Like most of his music, The Airship is centered around a metaphor involving ... travel, and the ocean mostly. This one sort of replaces the ocean with the air. Each track's title gives you a location to place it in, and the mental picture can be breathtaking if you contemplate it. Lovely

1. Campy, but fun - Thank you, thank you, thank you! I know these Hooked on Classics albums are a but campy, but they're so much fun. They're also a great introduction for beginners to the world of classical music... and the snappy disco beat! Hey! you can even dance to it. I'm looking forward to all the other Hooked on Classics albums.

1. best of both worlds - for anyone who has ever said that hip hop is some sort of lower art form and has never been able to capture any of the emotion or quality of "classical" music, listen to this and ask yourself if this is not as powerful or thought-provoking as any classical piece you have ever heard. for hip hop fans, this brings some of our favorite tracks to a new plateau. for classical music fans, you will enjoy every minute of this and you might even be inclined to check out some hip hop. this album is not to be missed.

2. amazing album & the live show was captivating! - I was LUCKY enough to have met J-Dilla in & call him a friend! So when I was told that this project was going to be released it warmed my heart & the many many hearts of his family & friends! Ma Dukes herself warned me that "it's was gonna be fire J, watch out!!" The Album Cover is a picture of all of us @ Dilla's Funeral saying our final goodbyes (captured by B ). I attended the LIVE version of Suite for Ma Dukes & was FLOORED @ how amazing it was, hopefully they release all of the other songs they performed that night. This is a MUST HAVE for anyone who is a Fan of J-Dilla's Work! don't sleep and spread the word lets keep his musical legacy growing! :)

3. Fall in love... - I had the honor of being there to say good bye to Dilla (thats the album photo above at the Glendale Cemetery captured by B ), and during the ceremonies, the Roots played a few of his songs live which brought anyone in their right minds to tears including myself. It wasnt until I heard these tracks that I actually felt that rush of chills run through my system again. Dilla was your favorite producer's producer, trust me. And this Ep is a great way to honor his work...

1. A Real Bargain! - If you like Mantovani, you certainly can't go wrong with songs for $.. This is not an album of "Greatest Hits" but is an excellent collection of some very nice Mantovani selections. They all sound like they are tracks actually conducted by Mantovani and not just the Mantovani Orchestra being lead by some nameless conductor. Since I love everything that Mantovani does, I'm giving it a star rating but if you're looking for the best iTunes Mantovani albums check out "GOLDEN HITS" or the "MILLENNIUM COLLECTION"

1. (Sayonara AND Local Freight…) Turn the volume way up…enjoy good stereo effects, WONDERFUL music, and happy memories !!! It DEFINITELY brings back the mood of the 's !!!! Thank you , iTunes !!!!

2. BEST MAKEOUT ALBUM EVER . . . . !!!! - I came across this album right after coming home from the Vietnam war and finding my wife had been running around with her boss, and manys the night I would lay on the living room floor listening to this. The music and the rainstorm sounds ( I LOVE RAIN ! ) were SO SOOTHING, and of course it IS the BEST MAKEOUT ALBUM EVER, too . . . If you have someone SPECIAL to share it with then YOU GOTTA HAVE IT . . . !

3. Almost a cult classic - In college, my equally-lovestruck romate and I would put this album on and listen in the dark, moaning about our girlfrriends. Ha ha These guys figured out that there's something romantic about rain, thunderstorms and music, and was the perfect time to figure it out. The train is cool. You are standing on the depot platform when you first hear it w-a-y-y-off to your left. Wait for it...

1. A Modern Wonder - Seldom has a work of art been so associated with a certain time and place. There is something hauntingly beautiful about A Theme From Summer Place. There is hope yet a tinge of sadness at what eventually transpired in the s . It truly is the soundtrack linking Leave It To Beaver with the Manson family . How we went from Pine street in Mayfield to Spahn ranch in years still boggles the collective soul. There is the hope but the sadness that the dream was maybe never real in the first place. Maybe if truth be known Ward Cleaver himself was shagging his secretary. The curtain was about to be pulled back to reveal an American Dream filled with assassinations ,drug abuse and a soundtrack more fitting a Hitchcock film. Percy Faith and his kind had there days numbered .

2. Heavenly - Theme from "A Summer Place" reminds me of everything wonderful about my childhood. Growing up in the San Fernando Valley in the 's and 's. Lawn sprinklers, warm summer twilight, fresh groceries and just the magical feeling of being alive and having no worries. Superb melody and arrangement. A flawless production. Thank you Mr. Faith.

1. One of the best voices - Very underrated - Ed's rich, full voice is never weak and is versatile. He easily covers the lowest to surprisingly high notes. While "My Cup Runneth Over" is deservedly the most recognized song on this album, "Try to Remember", "Who Will Answer?", and "When the Snow is on the Roses" are excellent as well. (I'm partial to "Who Will Answer".)

1. Wrong review. - First of all. This is the wrong Album review. It is for the first "Acoustic Sketches". Secondly, this is a really good acoustic album, there are some songs that are shorter snippits but it also has quite a bit of full songs. One of the best of these full songs is Cajon Pass. If you like Phil Keaggy and the first "Acoustic Sketches" you'll like this.

1. Another great Café compilation - Café Latino is the fifth in Putumayo’s Café series. As is usually the case with Putumayo, not all of the artists or songs are strictly “Latino”. The wonderful Jehro, singing opener “Salima”, hails from France while Spanish artist Miguel Gil sings in French (Edit: actually he is singing in Catalan). Nevertheless, this is a cohesive album comprised of singer/songwriters from around the world accompanied by acoustic guitar and piano, with strings and horns occasionally making an appearance. It is not as good as the instant classic Café Cubano, but after a few listens, I find this a fantastic album to relax and drink coffee to. Key tracks are “Salima”, “Por Verte Llegar” and "Soñando con Quito”. Highly recommended.

1. ITunes! Show some respect, PLEASE! - OKAY! This is not an official review of this album. I haven't heard it as of this post. However, I'm perplexed by the fact that only rerecords seem to be found here and elsewhere. Williams was a consumate performer in the ''s His music was everywhere(though rarely performed on radio by him.) Movies and TV begged for his easy going style and voice. Please get his catalogue. He deserves an Essentials CD!

2. This is what happened - In response to the reviews souring disappointed because "this is not the Paul Williams" they remember, I'd like to ask the following: which Paul Williams do you remember. Paul has always been a great songwriter, but he hardly ever was a Frank Sinatra when it comes to performance. This is a recording by a man who "went to hell and back". Sure, he sounds older. So what? The songs are still great. Do we want aesthetic perfection or do we want heartfelt performances? I'll go with the latter any time. Warren Zevon's last album was fraught with all the pain he was going through and the vocals were weak, but it still was a great album.
I'm glad Paul is still performing and that his songs are still going strong, as I strongly believe he was a master at a craft that has all but disappeared.

3. Still my favorite songwriter of all time - I grew up on Paul Williams. I grew up in the time of the singer / songwriter. This album and the pbs video are fantastic. The guest artists add a lot to the tunes, in just the right ways. Mr. Williams, you look and sound terrific. Thanks for giving so much of yourself to us over all these years. Awesome that ASCAP has such a terrific president now. Great to hear your voice again. Back there someday is still my personal theme song. Cheers!

4. Where is Paul? - I first fell in love with his songs when I was a teenager. His writing has always been beautiful. This is not the Paul Williams I have known. His voice has grown older. It isn't as smooth as it once was. I think the new songs are nice, but I would not buy this album. I prefer to remember Paul the way he was.

5. What happened? - Paul's voice was so distinctive in the 's, but on this much later album, it's weak, fragile, and a little shaky. The - star reviewers here are waxing on about past vocal glory, but if someone played this without telling me who it was, I would have said it was someone's grandpa on karaoke night at a senior center. Yeah, I know he's much older and the voice has faded a bit, but I can't see myself buying this. Where is his early stuff?

6. Love the Music, Paul. - I became a fan with "Here Comes Inspiration" back in the s. I'd love to be able to get that one - hint, hint- if the powers to be at ITunes could accomplish it. Some of the songs from that old album are revised for this one and sound great - just like they always did. It would be good to hear some of the other old ones too.

7. Always With The Best - I have known your music for all times. I believe you were writing even before you were born. This has some good old and brought in some new for the best possible feelings you can have with your music. I've missed you and so has my daughter Mickie. We are the same age so I truly get the music and always have. Thank you for making a 's child happy. Jamie Tampa, FL

8. Welcome back, Paul - I first fell in love with his music when I first fell in love back in high school. Although Karen Carpenter, Barbra Streisand and others sang the songs, it was his lyrics and music that made the s such a romantic time. Now his new stuff is doing it all over again. I caught him and Melissa Manchester at a concert in Wilmington Delaware a few years ago and was glad to see and hear him again... great duo. In these times of alot of horrible noise coming out of the radio, we need him back to show what great music is all about. His difficult years have aged his voice, but the genius is still there. It's tough to listen to Love Dance and not do just that.. take your partner in your arms, kick down the lights and ...dance. His music tells the story of falling in and out of love... the good, the bad, the ecstacy, the agony. Thanks Paul.

1. Once in a generation talent - Great throwback album reminiscent of the golden era of R&B/soul. For those that have followed Foy over the years, there some recognizable tracks from his performances over the years (thankfully now available) and some velvety new ones, all very moreish. Well done, sir...

1. Most Requested Songs -Encore! - Always a great vocal ensemble. However, this album is not one of my favorite Conniff albums because not every song includes the singing of the words! Ray Conniff SINGERS! Yes? Then I expect words sung to every song and not hummings, etc.....although done tastefully. Had I known this I would never have purchased this particular album. Hence, for me, three stars. Great Bass Trombone playing!!!

2. Great Instrumental Album - I bought the whole album and after listening to all the songs I am now addicted to listening to everything he made. Reminds me a lot of Henry Mancini and his style but this has a beautiful background singers and makes great background music. My favorite songs are Memories Are Made Of This

1. Brings me back to my childhood - I love this album; it brought me back to my childhood days. As a boy growing up in a strange country, this album gave me the comforts of home that I could listen to every night. I'm very happy that iTunes is offering this; I was heartbroken when my CD broke. These songs are still good, even decades later. In addition, all songs are listed for a mere .; which is an extremely one-sided price; we get the better deal by far. Thank you, iTunes, for giving me back my childhood memories!

1. Barry's First Head-On With Standards - Outside of the opening and closing tracks of this album which are originals designed to "sandwich", Barry dove head on into standards territory, not just standards but big band and he pulls it off nicely. Rosemary Clooney guests on "Green Eyes" it's not much of a duet as both she and Barry trade off verses but Rosemary is in fine voice. Another duet is "Don't Sit Under The Apple Tree" with Debra Byrd, this particular song, not this version because she passed years ago, was one of my Grandmother's favorites, she sang it almost constantly. Barry being the showman he his pulls off this foray into big band territory quite well, the cover art of this album isn't flattering, Barry looks "lifted" and mannequin-like standing in front of his band with a microphone, but the cover is not a deterrent from this album, a fine index of the hits of the big band era.

1. God Bless this Music - One Nation Under God Indivisible with Liberty and Justice for All. These words in our pledge of Allegiance speaks to the deeply rooted basis of religion in our country. America has always a nation of good god fearing people and it has also been a nation truly blessed by God. This album will surely make you feel blessed as you listen to it. It is both religious and patriotic at the same time. Whenever I think about the sacrifices that so many have made for the freedom we all enjoy I can't help but be moved to prayer. If you have ever walked along the Vietnam memorial in DC you have that feeling that but for the grace of god go I. You feel the solemn weight of that sacrifice. This album honors that sacrifice and the religion that has brought comfort to many whether in fox holes or the suburbs. One thing that holds us all together is love of god and country. The Army band is a band of angels on this album and the chorus sounds like heavenly voices. God of our Fathers is my favorite because I can remember singing it in church as a little boy. It brings back that same innocence and wonder and the hugeness of god and of the great influence of the nation I come from. If you need a little spiritual uplifting then this is a great album for you. For more great and religious music check out One Nation Under God which has presidential candidate Fred Thompson saying the Pledge of Allegiance.

1. One of the best of its kind! And a Grammy winner too! - Many of the early arranger/conductors of instrumental music tried to incorporate more pop/rock sounds into their music in the s, but no one succeeded like Percy Faith! With "Themes for Young Lovers", his first effort doing so, he found the perfect middle ground between the genres and received a well-deserved Grammy. The arrangements absolutely sparkle! His follow up album, "More Themes for Young Lovers" was also quite good. For sheer originality Percy had few peers, and fans knew he never fell into that dreaded "elevator music" category reserved for hacks like Lawrence Welk or Mantovani. To be honest, not all his pop albums were successful, especially when his producers made the regrettable decision to add a female chorus in the s----a sound that absolutely set him back years. And not every rock song lends itself to instrumental treatment either. But with this album Percy found the magic and it's a classic of its type.

1. Healing for the Soul - Joe Sample's "Leading Me Back to You" was my introduction to Michael. He's a very special artist. "Everytime She Whispers" ft Valerie Simpson on adlibs and backgrounds sends me into another place. That then drew me to her "Dinosaurs Are Coming Back Again" record. They're both mystifying And sensual artists I appreciate him and his voice is so soothing and tranquil.

2. Beach Music for the Soul - I have been followinbg Michael Franks since my military service. It was a many a night I crashed listening to Mike...To me all of his music is great but, I especailly like this CD...Double Talk and Fountain of Youth. The music is mellow and very romantic...idea for those moments of love and companionship. Great music all around...I have every song he recorded that is available. Thanks Michael for all the good music over the years.

2. The Shining: The Complete British Dance Band Soundtrack ( - ) - A great ballroom soundtrack from the movie. I don't know if it is my imagination but it sounded like two tracks (It's all Forgotten Now & Masquerade) were played from a record player with the slight cracking and popping sound that you would hear on an album. I was disappointed at first but then reconsidered and thought it gave the songs more character as it reflected how they would have sounded from that time period. Although not perfect, I would highly recommended.

1. Good Music, what the heck is with the album only?! - this is exceptionally good film music. although the songs are enhanced somewhat by actually seeing the movies, even without, this is still an excellent buy. one thing that i find confusing is that only last month all the songs except the Bobby McFerrin one were available individually and the cover was much more vibrant. what happened? despite this embarrassing change, the music is still superb.
