1. Just what I would expect from Iris! - Iris has given me hundred of hour of enjoyment. This album will do the same. Why some would expect anything less is a surprise to me. Cancel her if you must but her political stance is no surprise to me. She makes clear in the title track how she feels and I'm happy she said it. Tom Petty said it best " I'm not on the left, I'm not on the right. Not even sure if I have a dog in this fight". I don't agree with all her conclusions but I will never stop listening to what she has to say. If that were the case I'd feel it was nessasary to cancel Bob, Lucinda, Nanci, Jackson, Nina, Willie, etc, etc.... Recording were are original social media. That piano she plays everytime. She's been a good friend even if we never meet. Keep up the good work Iris!

2. Her Best Work - I absolutely love this album. The piano is awesome, lyrics are heartfelt, and it just makes me feel blessed to listen to it. I could listen to this all day and all night and never tire of it. In a world where most current music is crap and studio generated, it’s nice to know there are still true artists like Iris who can write and sing songs with conviction and truth.

3. Disappointing - Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I really enjoy Iris Dement. Her voice is a treasure. And the songs she usually sings play to her strengths - but this album is full of clunkers. John Prine and Nanci Griffith are gone but there’s still SO many good songwriters out there these days. Why is their material not making it onto her album? Someone - either she or her management - is doing her career and her fans a real disservice.

1. Finally! Good Music! - This album is filled with both deep lyrics and beautiful music like Killers and Sunshine and songs that make you want to dance like Do Me Wrong and Ghosts! I love the whole vibe of the album because you can chill in a hammock with a drink in your hand while listening or grab your partner by the hand and pull them out on the dance floor! I love that none of the songs are “bubble gum” or basic. It’s just all around good music!

2. If you long for the sound creativity of the past to add to todays music… - I grew up in a time in the south, Mississippi, in the ’s and ’s. I haven’t seen a band with the heart and soul I knew from that golden era of music. RCS have captured this in their work on this album. I saw them first only this year. In Dallas, Texas opening for another. I knew in that moment the treasure I had found. I am a Fan for life. Good luck RCS. They have a loyal following. And their music is strong in Faith. But in a way only music can know. Love and Peace RCS!

3. st Century Throwback Country Artists - Artistry hewn from countless stages and miles on the road, RCS are the future and the past of country music all in one. From the Elvis and Johnny Cash tones you hear in the lead singer’s voice to the soulful Sturgis Simpson-esque original songs these road warriors from Alabama are destined for greatness. Buy this album to be able to say you were there from the beginning

1. Another masterpiece from the guys from Atlanta - I have all of their albums, but You hear Georgia is by far the best one. This album has appearances from Warren Haynes, Jamey Johnson and The Black Betty’s. Blackberry Smoke does not disappoint. If you can, catch them live. They are bringing Southern Rock back to the forefront. They may not change the world, but Charlie, Richard, Britt, Brandon, Paul, Preston and Benji will leave a scar. Thank you guys.

1. An all star tribute to one of the most influential American musicians. - Brilliant musicianship and respect for the tradition of the great Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys. I have no doubt Bob is giving a big "haaaaw" from the great beyond. Steel Crazy man has obviously has no idea who Bob Wills is which I find incredible for someone who seems to identify with steel guitar.

2. Bless you Ray Benson! - How do you keep doing it? Keeping true to a tradition that is worth carrying on. The musicality of the songs are impeccable, as is all of Mr. Benson and band’s work. The most amazing thing about this album is the sound. It’s just like the old recordings, intimate, close up, and simple, but without the hiss and crackles. It strips all the sonic glitter that in a way detracts from many of AATW’s previous recordings.

3. Distracting !! - Ray Benson really likes to hear himself talk…..He says “HAW” at least once in every song, announces obvious things like what instrument is about to solo, or the name of the song…..VERY ANNOYING!….really ruins the album, which is already a little mediocre to begin with……I do like these guys, though….and their live recordings feature lots of talking…..I had hoped that a studio release would not have it……how wrong you can be!!!

4. Still the kings of western swing - When I first started listening to Asleep at the a Wheel it was a few years prior to the release of Ride with Bob. I was living in New England, and that album painted such a pretty picture of Texas. Now this new set of songs are a pleasure to listen to and are a finely crafted companion piece to that original tribute album. And now as a resident of Texas, I look toward to driving the highways and byways listing to this love letter to the Lone Star State.

1. Can't say enough good about Emily and Andrew - After trying to see them live here in North Carolina but not being able to because the shows were sold out (yes!), we saw them at the Red Wing Roots Festival in Virginia (check it out next year - worth the trip). Anyway, they can flat play their instruments and their voices blend together in a beautiful way that its difficult to describe, both on this album and in person. Their songs are deep and meaningful, and my friends and I are the better for having found them. The even better news is that they each personally seem to be as wonderful and gracious as their music. Buy the albums, get the T-shirt and brag about how you found out about them early in what I hope is a very, very long career.

2. Of Which There is No Like - Andrew Marlin and Emily Frantz create some of the most haunting and powerful folk/bluegrass music today. I fell in love with all their previous albums and couldn't wait for Such Jubilee. When it dropped on May th, it instantly became my new favorite. They just keep getting better and better.

3. Timeless music - Every album by Mandolin Orange gets better and better and they've never released a bad one. I've listened to them for years and find their harmonies and musicianship to be timeless. I discovered them at a tiny live show and have had their music in my rotation ever since, going on years now. Such Jubilee is some of their finest work and I can't recommend it enough!

4. Never disappoints - Much like the Civil Wars, this duo strikes a rich vein of Americana roots music. Hopefully Mandolin Orange will continue to perform/compose and not fall prey to the "Grass is Greener" elsewhere and breakup. Another great album, strong songs, nice dark pentonic riffs and beautiful vocals. Buy all their Cd's, well worth the listen!

1. So excited for the album and love the songs already out - I fell in love with Mandolin Orange just after they released their album “Blindfaller”. Soon after I got their other albums. Although they haven’t released much since , I still listen to the albums all the time and almost every night as I sleep. I’m listening to “Golden Embers” right now on repeat and I’m falling in love. I feel such connection and a sense of meaningfulness whenever I listen to this group that I can’t compare to anything else. Honestly, when I first found the group, I was worried you guys were gonna end up being one of those small music groups who put some stuff out there but then stop. I’m so happy that this isn’t the case. Never stop releasing music because it’s become such a deep part of my life over the years, I probably wouldn’t be the person I am today with it. Helped me get through some seriously hard years. Love you guys if ya read this and thank you for your music.

1. Like the after burn from a spicy meal - My wife and I just saw him again last night. I was blown away that I didn't even know this recording existed. James' music is like a fine meal filled with subtlety and a delightful after burn when you reflect on a line or two. Listen often and carefully and you will end of up wanting to hear more

2. James’ Best - Achingly beautiful songs. No better songwriter working today and his best is here. From the opening lines of Canola Fields to the last crunching chords behind Blackberry Winter James delivers a literate, polished and often searing tour of the US. For those of us who’ve been surviving the pandemic through his x weekly livestreams, it’s wonderful to hear the studio versions. For the wider audience, y’all are in for a fine time. These songs are aural heart surgery. Buy this album and share it.

1. Transcendental - I’ve been with the band since the beginning and their first two albums are good, but this album is magic. There’s an extra special oomph to this album. It so supersedes it’s predecessors. It’s the same vibe and genius but amplified by . It brought me transcendent peace immediately, and like cleared my brain of thoughts. Words cannot express how perfect this album is or how close it is to my heart. I will recommend this to everyone. It’s so perfect.

2. rd times a charm - Radio Company has hit gold with their third album. There is so much to unwrap in the lyrics, the sound, the vibe and let’s not get started on Jensen Ackles’s voice. The standouts are Ain’t No Tellin and Restless Man. But this whole album is just soul. The country vibe really works for them. And I can’t wait for more!!!
2023-02-25
3. Best album yet!! - This album is by far the best album that Radio company has put out yet!! The blend of vocals, the musical portion, and the lyrics are just awesome!! This album sounds like old school, country and Radio Company just knocks it out of the park… Good going guys!! I would totally recommend this album to anyone who loves country music and who is a big fan of Radio company!!

4. A Country Music Treat - Radio Company’s new album Keep On Ramblin’ is a pleasure from start to finish. It’s filled with funny, sad, and inspiring stories blessed by Steve Carlson and Jensen Ackles’ almost otherworldly harmonies and the best musicians in Austin, Texas. RadioCompany CountryMusic KeepOnRamblin’

5. Radio Company has a brand new sound - As always, Radio Company brings thoughtful lyrics & beautiful harmonies. This new album may be different from their previous rock-style albums, but this new set may just be my favorite nonetheless. Even if country isn’t usually your thing, listen anyway. You won’t regret it!! :)

6. Did you just make me a country fan? - I’ve followed Jensen’s career from Supernatural and when I found out he could sing, I was excited to listen to Radio Company. The first two albums were amazing and I was hesitant about the third one having more of a country edge to it as I’m not typically into that much. But slap me silly I LOVE this album. Their storytelling alone gets me invested and then the music, still with the rock influences in many songs, is just so captivating. I think four times in a row the first time i turned it on. Already have my favorite songs and just hoping they choose to do another concert sometime soon!

1. Real Talent - Molly’s incredible, raw talent can’t possibly be captured in recording. The production on this album has most parts shining with clarity. Minimal effects, some subtle reverb, and tasteful use of a synth, but atop the well-mixed band, Molly’s vocals and guitar playing are still an obvious focus. If you’re looking for more warmth, though, you’ll find it at one of her live performances!
2019-10-02
2. Great next step - Molly Tuttle is a phenomenal and well established talent as a musician. Compared to her prior releases, this one brings songwriting and singing to the fore, with fewer moments showcasing her amazing technical skill on the strings. Still, there are flourishes and embellishments here that mark this as something unique, distinguishing her work from that of many other talented singer/songwriters working in a similar style.

1. An album that takes a stand - Artists stay true to themselves and Son Volt’s LP “Union” marks a continuation of their eloquent insights into the workings of the Americana mind during the USAs downfall at the hands of billionaires and their Republican enablers. Sure, the LP longs for sociopolitical union, but the artists in this collection of songs suggest this isn’t likely. It reveals instead the financial greed and racism that has been embraced by those intent to remain in power. Those who feel alienated by this in-your-face LP cannot wait for low-wage workers to return to dangerous jobs—even their own dangerous, low-paying jobs—during a horrific pandemic while desperately clinging to the lies and promises of a foolish despot. Woody Guthrie’s raised middle finger lives!

2. a mixed bag - To me Son Volt is instantly recognizable. I heard one today on a Sirius station and immediately checked out the album. I was really looking forward to hearing it, and typically buy the whole album, which I stlll do for my favorite artists. I have to agree with many of the reveiwers that many of the songs were slow and too one-dimensional, so I didn't want them in my library. However I still downloaded songs, including While Rome Burns, The Reason, Slow Burn, and the Devil May Care, which I gave more looks given the other review and was so glad I did.

3. Slip Sliding Away - We're so, so far short of the Trace / Straightaways / Wide Swing Tremolo years when I could count on any song release offering plenty of things to like. I believe in maturation of sound and artists who grow their own way, but there is so little to like from recent releases. It's akin to that sitcom that kills it the first - seasons, only to fade when the core characters and stories get stretched into places they can't go. I just hope SV is like Weeds, and they get back to what made them so great during those first three releases.

4. Jay Farrar - A once in a generation songwriter. He just needs a nudge..something.. to make him realize his full potential. His vocal timbre is unmistakable: Jay Farrar’s voice is as unique as John Lee Hooker’s. His only sin is he has been on repeat for a while now. Son Volt suffers from being unremarkable. Not a bad album, just not anything new.
2019-05-28
5. Last I Heart, the st Amendment was Still in Effect - Jay Farrar has always followed his own path. If he hadn't there wouldn't be a Son Volt or the more popular Wilco. So if his politics upset you, Wilco is out there. Farrar's voice has a special quality that makes the tension in my shoulders kind of melt away. Put it on, put it on shuffle with the other Son Volt and it fits. Lyrics, smiriks. His voice is an instrument sliding into notes like a trombone slurs. You get it or you don't.

6. Woody Guthrie Would Be Proud - Jay Farrar has always had a fascination with Woody Guthrie and being that Jay, like Woody, is considered by many to also be an American treasure, Woody's daughter has previously reached out to Jay to put some of Woody's unrecorded words to music. For this album, Jay traveled to Tulsa and set up shop in the Woody Guthrie Museum (after hours) to record some of the songs for Union, somewhat of a protest album in the vein of Guthrie. (Some songs were also recorded at the Mother Jones Museum in Illinois.) As Jay, puts it, he is just writing songs mirroring current headlines in the news. At the same time, there are other non-political songs on here. "I kind of burned out about midway through the recording and I decided that some of the songs needed to embody a more regular rock ethos and be non-topical" Farrar says to Billboard Magazine. "With "Devil May Care," he explains, "I was thinking about bands like the Replacements, who would fall off the stage in the first chords of their songs, the Stones, the Who." Possible the best song on the album "The Reason" is a message from Farrar to his children who are on their way to college and into the world. Jay wrote it as a result of “seeing them go into adulthood and just thinking about the trials they will face, and hoping they don’t fall and press onward,” Farrar says to Paste Magazine. All in all a great album which will only be reinforced with time.

7. Devil May Care... - I’m glad the economy is finally doing better. The last thing I wanted to do was spend my hard earned money on a collection of partisan lyrics from an artist that used to be insightful, but now sadly joins the ranks of tired, whiney artists grabbing for branches of relevance in a tree they have no business trying to climb. To be fair, I was absolutely blown away when I heard “Devil May Care”. You GO J! I thought. But, what have you done, reality whiner? You got me to buy a collection of songs I will never listen to again. except for that one, of course.
2019-04-05
8. Don't divide your audience - Another good collection opf songs from a massively underrated group.
However, as bright as Jay is you would think he would just tone down what seems like
a concentrated effort to divide his fans. We get it Jay, You don't like a lot of us. Well, we still like you and have since UT. Why not try to bring some people together with a song or two?
2019-04-04
9. Too political for the and the other ... - This album is well-produced and recorded, with simple songs that are easy on the ear, including a few instrumentals. On the whole, the songs are well-crafted with folk blends of acoustic guitar, overdriven electrics, bass, drums and keyboards. Over half of the songs are too political; however, poking at our current tensions. "Reality Winner" is a song about the woman who was charged with "removing classified material from a governmant facility" (wikipedia). It doesn't resonate. She pleaded guilty for a deal. "The Symbol" briefs us all on what we already know and wring-our-hands about 'non-citizens' and 'citizens'. It fails to move any needle. "Lady Liberty" drones on and on with an assumption that She has tears and sighs and pettiness. After a few play-throughs of the whole album, I reflect: (mercifully) short songs, unremarkable choruses, too political. These songs are not for dancing, not for celebrating, not for strumming and not for any particular purpose. To each his own. I think I will pass. Instead, I will replay "Windfall", "Tear Stained Eye" and "Loose String" from the debut album.

1. So great, already one of my favorites. - I’ve been a Hiatt fan for years - I think this is one of the strongest releases he’s done in a long time. His voice is aging gracefully, and is a perfect pairing with Douglas’s magnificent Dobro playing. Every song is a gem, not a clunker in the batch - ranging from the trademark sense of humor to true-life tragedy, all delivered in the context of great musicianship with a relaxed live feel that just draws you in and doesn’t let go. More like this, please!

1. Beautiful mistakes of the heart. Emotions that are real. - I've been listening to the ten songs on REAL since June of when I had the amazing opportunity to film Lydia and her band of musical geniuses for my documentary Who Is Lydia Loveless? To say I've heard these songs incessantly over the past months, especially during the six month editing process, is an understatement. So, when the film was done, once the accompanying music videos finished, one would expect me to never want to hear this record again. I mean, there are very few albums in existence that could bear that sort of repeated listens. And yet, now that the editing is complete, what album have I been reaching for over and over again? REAL, from Lydia Loveless. Few things are timeless, fewer albums certainly. But every once in a while, a collection comes along that touches you in ways you can't quite comprehend. That brings emotions to the surface that you felt were long ago repressed. That makes you remember love, heartache, lust, longing. What it's like to cry into your beer for the one who got away. What it's like to question your own sanity when they're lying in bed beside you. Mistakes of the heart, we've all been there. Those are the songs of REAL. "If self-control is what you want, I'll have to break all of my fingers off," she sings in MORE THAN EVER, a song which finds a mistress pounding harder on the door. "Well you don't have to tell me everything I want to hear/It only makes it harder for me everytime my dear/To say bye," she sings in the stark and heartbreaking CLUMPS. "You take a walk/I'd rather be lonely than ashamed," from the decidedly dark BILBAO where a chorus of "marry me" turns into "bury me." Or "I don't know what the truth is but you give me every reason to fall out of every lasting arms" in OUT ON LOVE, arguable the most breath-taking song on the album. Lyrically, there's not a better songwriter on the planet today. The emotions aren't bubblegum nonsense, you can pick the scabs off the still-healing wounds of a heart stabbed too many times. But what might be most amazing about REAL is the sonic variety given the tracks. Props to producer Joe Viers and the band. There are no two songs that sound alike. This is not your average pop record where you think you keep hearing the same slow and fast songs over and over again. Put HEAVEN side-by-side with BILBAO, or put that side-by-side with SAME TO YOU. You'll know it's the same heart stopping voice, but think the songs are from different era, different decades. Most musicians today are afraid to offer variety. But Lydia once again proves she's afraid of nothing, at least not in the studio. She takes risks, and they all soar. Lydia Loveless, Todd May, Ben Lamb, Jay Gasper, and George Hondroulis are the rarest of beasts, a rock band true to the core. One without compromise. I love this band. And I love this record.

1. Speechless - I can only second what Bob in Nashville had to say. I've been a fan for years. There just isn't anyone else who comes close to this guy's talent in so many areas of music. I am just so thankful to be able to be on the receiving end of what he has to offer. He is a unicorn in the music industry.

2. Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant - Radney Foster continues to release one insanely brilliant release after another. He really is te most under rated artist in all of music. I genuinely believe that. Country and rock artist should listen to Radney's work. It's a living "how to" when it comes to writing, story telling, crafting music to fit the song, and then singing it with and from the heart. Not much left to be said except buy it! If you love great music, you won't be disappointed.

3. His best work in years - I recently saw Rad in Duluth GA and he indicated he was going to play a lot of the new stuff. I was a little tentative since I was unfamiliar with new CD but he wowed me with what I heard so I bought a copy after the show (which he signed and addressed to my son…awesome). After a few listens, this is truly one of his best. All of the songs are great but here were a few stand outs: California (beautiful live), Mine until morning, Not from my mouth (anti-bigotry song with a great message), Lie about loving me and The Man you want (which was his wife's favorite love song). Just a winner through and through. Help Rad out and buy the CD and go see him on the road if you get a chance, he was excellent as was his band the Shiners.

4. Radney at his best - - The title track from Everything I Should Have Said is a flat-out stunner. In it I hear a narrative thread that started in’s I’ve Got a Picture and carried on through songs like ’s Tired of Pretending, and ’s Forgiveness. But taking it to a place of such open-hearted honesty, with a lush arrangement, that time-burnished voice, and an aching, swaying melody like a bittersweet slow-dance – well, it’s been a long time since a song stopped me in my tracks like that. The whole album is smart and sexy and rollicking and romantic and fresh and organic and rich and full of surprises. I’m not sure how Texans are going to feel about our Rad writing something called California, but with beautifully crafted lyrics like “Made ancient Spaniards sail, Made Guthrie ride the rails” and a tune that’s the best kind of ear-worm, it’s a love song that may make Golden-Staters adopt him. And what a great bit of lagniappe to hear Patty Griffin on the lovely Darden Smith co-write Mine Until Morning. I was puzzled by the wistful piano and pedal steel arrangement until I suddenly heard echoes of the sweetly tragic country duets of my youth. The last few years spent revisiting Del Rio and Foster & Lloyd seem to have brought Radney back to that alchemist’s balance of joyful pop, rock, country, you-name-it that he does so well, but this time with the kind of comfortable-in-your-own-skin wisdom that only comes with age. It’s a good thing he went to Louisiana to record it, because ain’t no other place that can handle this kind of satisfying musical gumbo.

1. Love and Trouble - Who among us hasn’t experienced love and trouble? Mary Gautier’s songs tell of so many of the nuanced experiences involved, you can’t help but identify with one or more of them. And then you don’t feel alone. You feel lighter. And if you’re one of the lucky ones who can’t identify with a thing in these songs, you’ll still enjoy hearing about how love can go wrong. You’ll know you dodged the trouble in love. As you can see I’ve become a huge fan of Mary Gautier.

1. Balsam Range-Mountain Voodoo - Just another collection of Balsam Range needlessly reinforcing what I, and scores of others, knew within the first verse of Trains I Missed; albeit rarely, God sometimes puts together a group of artists, weaving their lives and talents together and the mesh that they become stops listeners in their tracks, knowing that at that moment they’ve witnessed the highest iteration of art and that will find itself relevant across the millennia. And they just keep putting out music that with every album, they have plenty to share.

1. Grammy in sight - Some of the best music you will EVER hear. Amazing performance at The Pabst in MKE, WI. Totally in love with their music and the passion resonates. Life changing experience and it was so beautiful everyone around us was in tears, including us. How often has that happened to you, the person reading this? Raw, beautiful talent by awesome people. I see their work as movie soundtracks, Apple commercials, Visa advertising, etc. So freakin inspiring!!!

2. I am a fan - Saw them last night at Tales From the Tavern and need more. They were engaging, rocking, soulful. Lifted our spirits in a time of darkness. I will have to enjoy their recordings until the next time they come our way. They opened and had the crowd ready to follow them where ever they might go.

3. What a pleasant surprise! - I listened to this on NPR's First Listen and I'm totally in love with this group. I've preordered this album as you should too. What they give us is a phenomenal mix of genres so complex yet simple. Every song on this album seems to be lovingly conceived, without filler. The vocals are honey-sweet and the arrangements are perfect.

1. Gorgeous album - I have been following MBD since about and love their music and storytelling lyrics, but this album completely blew me away. It’s probably their most approachable album to new fans and still gives old fans everything that we missed from Big Dark Love. Why MBD isn’t more well known, I’ll never know. Give this album a listen and catch them live- they tour regularly and also have special yearly fan favorite shows at the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park over NYE and at Cumberland Caverns (music! Underground! Best acoustics!) in TN.

2. Marvelous piece of music - Although very unlikely to receive the praise it deserves by the masses, this really should be considered as album of the year; just a beautiful and well-crafted album, from start to finish. MBD's progression/evolution as musicians is just awesome to see/listen to. This a such a perfectly constructed album; and although it is not filled with a bunch of singles (all strong songs in their own right), taken together, this may be their strongest addition to their unique catelogue of music.

1. Great Show - Great Venue - Just saw this great show on Sunday / for my Birthday. They need to be seen at a place like the Great American Music Hall in S.F., where I was lucky enough to see them. Great music, very tight band, especially liked the John Goodwin songs. Jeff was especially good at telling stories without being sappy or patronizing. This does an outstanding job of reliving that experience for me.

1. the real deal - Talented. Authentic. Real story telling ability. Good production values. Great live shows. This is the good stuff. His slice of life stories showcase his keen powers of observation, often about those on the fringes of life. Little Guys is about a gas station owner in a small town, Hickory about loggers when the trees are all gone, and my favorite on this collection, Take Home Pay about having to make a buck. Here's the chorus to that one: Schemers scheme around the edges
Dreamers dream of better days
Everyone knows what the catch is
It's all about the take home pay Yep, Slaid is the real deal.

1. Excellent - This is a GREAT album!
Their individual voices and harmonies are really nothing short of incredible, I just wish I could identify each sister's voice.
Ry Cooder adds, (as usual), some great guitar, check out "Oh Take Me Back"
This is one of those albums that will enhance and improve whatever mood you may be in, and surely a "go-to" album when nothing else sounds good at the time.
Can't wait for the next album!

1. My favorite album in years! - Every song is good. You will want to play the whole album through, not just one song. The subjects range from mental health, natural disasters, death, DV and at the same time it’s a hopeful album generally. Comforting. Jason has a beautiful deep tone. The band is great. Including fiddle, cello?, and something I don’t even know. I hope they tour up here in Seattle!!

2. Jason Eady is True Amweicana! - If you are looking for some authentic American music, give Mr. Eady a listen. Doubt you wll be idissapoointed. Met him after he put on a charity concert in Calaveras County tonight. He sang his song "Calaveras County" and the crowd soaked it in. Bought this vinyl album on the spot!

3. The best! - Ever since I discovered Jason Eady some years ago I await in anticipation for his new music. His voice & phrasing is smooth and captivating, his writing is top notch and the production draws you in. I have'nt felt this way about a music man since I first heard Merle Haggard all those years ago. Give this guy a listen and I guarantee you will be drawn in. If you like folk and country (with hints of rock in earlier work) this is your man. Can't say enough good things about him.

3. Country Music's NEWEST Compilation Album! - This album is past GREAT!!!! George Jones and Tracy Lawrence's duet is spot on. Tanya Tucker delivers a song like only she can. Aaron Tippin reminds us that it is GREAT to be an American - no matter what political side you sit on. This is a MUST buy for every country music lover.

1. Amazing and Beautiful.... strong sweet voice and flawless country bluegrass styling - I am blown away by this recording... Jesse's voice sounds AMAZING to think he is past ....! The songs are most of my top Grateful Dead songs... To hear them from Jesse is to hear the lyrics a bit more carefully... the songs have a great American character to them.... a great country bluegrass twang WITHOUT sounding like any corporate Nashville product... It is absolutely beautiful.... I can't stop playing it... I don't have an ipod adapter in my car so I burned it and it is amazing.... stella blue pulls your spiritual heart strings, franklins tower is full forward fun and beauty, ripple comes back to its pool to be rippled again... I'm telling you this is great... thanks so much for those that put this together! Thank You

2. A real jem - These aren't just shallow instrumental versions of Grateful Dead songs, this is the real deal from established bluegrass musicians. The vocals are great and you can tell the guitarist really understands Jerry's Playin' style. They even take it out a couple of times with some inspired jamming. I often buy these bluegrass cover albums and give them one listen, only to be lost in my ipod and never played again. This is not the case with this body of work, this one has soul and is worth being played over and over.

3. This is a no-brainer - This album is a real pleasure to listen to. I bought it about a week ago and haven't been able to stop listening to it. "Stella Blue", "The Wheel", and "Fire On The Mountain" are some of the better tracks (with "Fire.." being a very interesting take on what you might not ever had considered to potentially be a bluegrass song). However, the highlight of this album is definitely the "Franklin's Tower". Everything about it is just perfect - the vocals, harmonies, instruments. I'd imagine that Jerry Garcia would have been just tickled pink by this album. (And no, I did not also buy Katy Perry's "California Girls". Not sure how both have been bought by other listeners)

1. If you a OG Ragweed Fans, save your ears- don’t download! - What was it that Koe said, He misses Ragweed too? Don’t we all, Koe, Don’t we all! I was pumped for a remake of one of my favorite Red Dirt Albums, but one listen to “ Alabama” and I wish I never downloaded. The traditional “Ragweed Sound” is gone. There is no meaty, gravely rock red dirt to this album. Instead it is wanted down poppy Nashville riffs that that would make Luke Bryan proud. If you want to relive your college days, download The OG Soul Gravy. This album cannot be unheard.

2. Disappointing - I’ve been a Cody Canada fan since the Ragweed Days, and when I heard he was going to re release Ragweed’s project Soul Gravy, I was enthused, but Cody is going down a musical path a lot of us wish he wouldn’t. He’s involving his kids, who are talented but I don’t care to hear. (Listen to Stranglehold and just hear how amateurish it sounds) and the entire project just reminds me the Ragweed and early departed Days are over. Cody’s recent projects are way too political (he has come out as a full blown Trump hating left winger) and he needs to get back to what got him here. Cutting the band to was a terrible idea. Bring A fourth guy back on guitar and keys and let’s start hearing some new material that’s actually good like we heard on Adventus, HippieLovePunk, and .

1. What a GREAT CD. - This is one of the best sounds I've heard in the past few years. My brother turned me on to one song off another cd called When Bitter met Sweet. Bought that whole cd then went on a further search and listened to this cd. YOWSAH!!!!!! (bought the whole cd)
The songs on this cd show how much talent the band has. Hope I get a chance to see this band in my near furture so I can dance the night away to these beautiful songs. Can't wait for another cd.

2. Beautiful Record - I stumbled across the Honeycutters by fate one day a week ago. I purchased their then latest record and discovered they had a new one being released today. On The Ropes is a great record and I am very pleased. Ms. Platt's voice is very emotional and the lyrics are timeless. Great music played by extremely talented people.

1. Fit a rare niche - There aren't many groups like this. Country style but a hard rock version. Great guitar work, great harmonies, loud, passionate vocals (at times). If you like Drive By Truckers, Dexateens, or Slobberbone then give them a try. Absolutely love this band. Great song song writing, well produced. Very impressive debut.

2. A Debut To Remember! - I saw Banditos as a part of a day long outdoor show in Miami that Wayne Hancock headlined. I love Wayne's music, but Banditos stole the show that night! I was blown away. This is a great country album start to finish. My only complaint is that it doesn't harness the energy and feeling of their live show. You should buy this now and you'll thank me later. Go see them when they come to your town.

1. She has the chops! - I recognized her from the Bradshaw Family reality show and recently saw her perform with her dad (Terry Bradshaw). I was impressed with her voice and stage presence then and wanted to check this out. I fell more in love with her voice the more songs I sampled. As a retired dj and a professional listener who has heard a thousand or so artists over the years, I say this with confidence: She has the chops!

1. Sounds issues - This is a very good show musically but I have serious issues with the sound on this recording. I find it hard to believe that this is a remaster. The sound level fluctuates from song to song, there are noticeable drop outs, it does not flow from one song to another, and there is very loud static between certain songs which make it very tough to listen to on headphones. I used to have tapes from and that sounded much better than this. It really makes me wonder why they released this copy, and why these issues were not caught through the 'remastering' process. Overall, it is worth a listen, and I really appreciate them releasing shows during, in my opinion, the peak of their career, however due to the sound issues it will be tough to really listen to this going forward. Hopefully they fix the issues and post a new copy.
